June 6, 2006: Nathan Sampson, long-time fan of the pro-wrestling business, convinces investors to give him $100,000 to support a new wrestling project, Continental Championship Wrestling. He drew them in with statistics that many up-and-comer wrestling promotions have started to turn a profit, and independent wrestling has been experiencing a rise in popularity. Nathan says that although they may not turn a profit for a while, it will all turn out well in the end. July 5, 2006: After securing the rights to the name Continental Championship Wrestling and CCW, as well as renting an office, it was time to hire workers. Knowing he had little experience in the business side of wrestling, he first hired recent TNA firee and long-time wrestler and trainer, as well as road agent, Terry Taylor. Taylor signed on to be the road agent and advisor. Now it was time to hire wrestlers. July 9, 2006: Following discussions with Taylor and many negotiations with independent wrestlers, the roster consisted of the following: Chad Collyer Trained by Dean Malenko, on and off TNA wrestler and long-time RoH midcarder. Davey Richards 2006 Super 8 winner, worked for PWG, ECCW, and CZW before being released, also works for FIP. John Walters Former RoH Pure Champion and WWE jobber. Sato Brothers (Kei & Shu) Japanese twin brothers in a high-flying tag team. July 16, 2006: Nathan went to PWG's Threemendous show, and handed out flyers for CCW's first event, CCW Showcase. It would be half-hour show held in the same place as most of PWG's shows, the gym of the Hollywood-Los Feliz Jewish Community Center, two weeks later. The one match would be a 4 vs 4 match utilizing the whole roster, with the Sato Brothers, Davey Richards, and Nigel McGuinness taking on Chad Collyer, John Walters, Yoshiaki Yago, and Manabu Hara. A way to "showcase" the whole roster and a preview of things to come. July 30, 2006: Showtime. 13 people showed up to watch CCW's debut show, Showcase. Todd Grisham informed those in attendance that the next CCW show would be called CCW Title Time, with a tournament for the CCW Heavyweight Title. The show would take place Saturday, August 15, and again would be at the H-LF JCC.
