takertitan
So, i am guessing most of the people on this forum watch wrestling, and i am also betting alot of the people on this forum also watch some type of wrestling. For years, the "wrestling genra" of games has been basically the same, real time simulation style games such as SmackDown vs. RAW!. But little do most people know is that the WWE(F when it was first made) releaced another type of wrestling game for the PC, With Authority!. WA! was released on Feb. 21, 2001 by Genetic Anomalies (GA), a company owned by THQ, as a trading card game similar to Magic the Gathering, only based on the WWE. The game was never a great financial success, but nevertheless developed a solid core following over its approximately 3 year lifespan. When the licensing fees proved too high to be supported by the size of the community, GA was forced to close shop and discontinue the game. As a final token of consolation and appreciation for those who had invested their money into purchasing packs of “pages” for their WWE playbooks (the WA! equivalent of playing cards), the programmers added the capability of playing games peer-to-peer (p2p) without having to connect through the central server any longer. Because the GA server is now down, you will notice that many of the features within the game are non-functional (such as the in-game chat areas and online store). The method of connecting to others via p2p is itself somewhat unorthodox and not very straightforward (since the game was originally designed to run through GA's server), which is why we have prepared this guide for new players who are unfamiliar with the game. Not only will you need the original WA! program, but you will also need the WA! IRC client written by one of our players, de|ete, who invested much of his own time to make the experience of playing p2p as enjoyable, if not more-so, than the original. The p2p software not only replaces the original chat area, but also provides tournament support and keeps track of players' ranks, along with a variety of other features which you will discover as you continue learning about the game. And best of all, everything is completely free! It may take some patience on your part to get everything set up properly to start playing, but hopefully with the help of the following directions, your p2p experience will provide you with lasting enjoyment and a great community experience. We hold several tournaments a day where you can test your playbooks (decks) against others, and when there aren't any tournaments being held, there's always someone looking for a match in the "Arena Entrance" so there's never a dull moment. For more information on this game, I would sergest you vist www.waforums.net. This game is totally free now, and you can play the full version with every page ever made for free. If you need more help, please feel free to email me at irish_red_11@hotmail.com. There are a handful of us With Authority'ers! left and would be glad if you joined us on the server. cyberkitten01
While that's great to know, shouldn't this be in "The Dog Pound" instead? Since it's not to do with WreSpi or any other GDS game? I wouldn't have gotten into WA! if it wasn't for the fact you had to pay, I was young and penniless at the time
