I really thought Jardine was a lock.

UPDATED TRANSFERS TO THE KING OF KINGS 1. Stan Hansen - AJPW 2. Giant Baba - AJPW 3. Terry Funk - AJPW 4. Jumbo Tsuruta - AJPW 5. Boris Zhukov - Houston 6. Manny Fernandez - Southwest 7. Pierre Lefabvre - Atlantic Grand Prix Canada Each winner will automatically get a top 32 seed promised to them in the 64 man tournament - it's only fair for running the gauntlet in their respective tourney's. But I promise Jerry Oates won't be the #1 seed in any region lol.

There was a couple of decent matches in this one and Barnes shocked me by getting all the way to the finals.

No way! I thought he might get tripped up in round 3 but not to Gran Apache. Some very good matches by the Lucha's with the final match even being pretty good between Mando and Satanico. Look out, once Satanico locks on that El Nudo it's all over baby.
Just out of curiosity, when you list a match rating without a finisher, does that mean a DQ win/loss? For example: in the Nagasaki v. Bond match -- did Nagasaki perhaps get DQ'ed?
Nope, it means I simply missed the finish. All of these matches in the tournaments are Hardcore rules so no DQ's. I didn't want fluke DQ's eliminating some of the best wrestlers.

Next up today will be the CWA Tournament and here's the seedings again: Round 1 #1 Jerry Lawler VS #16 Koko B. Ware #8 Robert Gibson VS #9 Dennis Condrey #6 Randy Savage VS #11 Bill Dundee #4 Stan Lane VS #13 Lanny Poffo #3 Steve Keirn VS #14 Rick Rude #5 Jos Leduc VS #12 Bobby Eaton #7 Dutch Mantell VS #10 Ricky Morton #2 Austin Idol VS #15 Phil Hickerson Thoughts - with only 2 transferring this WILL be one of the most hotly contested qualifying tournaments. No need to guess because with this competition I'd just be wrong anyway. Upsets shouldn't be uncommon though.

CWA Memphis - Top two advance Round 1 #1 Jerry Lawler VS #16 Koko B. Ware - 14:20 C Chain Punch #8 Robert Gibson VS #9 Dennis Condrey - 13:10 F German Suplex #6 Randy Savage VS #11 Bill Dundee - 17:30 F Brass Knuckle Punch #4 Stan Lane VS #13 Lanny Poffo - 11:40 F Late Inning Small Package #3 Steve Keirn VS #14 Rick Rude - 13:40 C Rude Awakening #5 Jos Leduc VS #12 Bobby Eaton - 28:10 A* Piledriver #7 Dutch Mantell VS #10 Ricky Morton - 9:30 F Double Knee Back Breaker #2 Austin Idol VS #15 Phil Hickerson - 13:00 F Piledriver Round 2 #1 Jerry Lawler VS #8 Robert Gibson - 29:30 A* Piledriver #11 Bill Dundee VS #4 Stan Lane - 18:50 F Piledriver #14 Rick Rude VS #5 Jos Leduc - 16:20 F Big Bear Hug #7 Dutch Mantell VS #2 Austin Idol - 11:20 F Piledriver Round 3 #1 Jerry Lawler VS #4 Stan Lane - 47:20 A* Chain Wrapped Punch #5 Jos Leduc VS #2 Austin Idol - 22:50 B- Fireball Final #1 Jerry Lawler VS #2 Austin Idol - 20:40 B- Big Bear Hug Locked into a top 32 spot in the King of Kings - Austin Idol Also guaranteed a spot - Jerry "The King" Lawler Thoughts: I knew this promised to be a good tournament and while it did have a few bad matches it more than made up for it with 3 A* matches in the tournament. In the Leduc/Eaton matchup they used every possible weapon except an artificial limb. The Lane/Lawler match may be THE match of the qualifiers - it will be hard to top that. Sweet Stan hit the King with everything and Lawler kept kicking out at the last second. He finally nailed Lane with the chain shot and put him away. Leduc was dominating Idol until he got hit by a fireball quickly ending what would have more than likely been an A match if it had went much further. This tournament will be hard to surpass in quality but I'm sure the WWF, MACW, GCW, WCCW, and Mid South boys will all have something to say about that.

Calgary up next and here's the seedings again: Round 1 #1 Bret Hart VS #16 Ben Bassarab #8 Loch Ness Monster VS #9 Jim Neidhart #6 Dynamite Kid VS #11 Makhan Singh #4 The Great Gama VS #13 Owen Hart #3 Mr. Hito VS #14 Steve Disalvo #5 Bad News Allen VS #12 Hiro Saito #7 Bruce Hart VS #10 Davey Boy Smith #2 The Mongolian Stomper VS #15 The Cobra Thoughts - Another qualifier where the men will have to knuckle up to get it done. Stu Hart has some great wrestlers in his pipeline for this qualifier and I expect at least two or three A matches.

I really wanted to pick Owen, but he's still kinda green. I think Bret or Allen will win it all, with Dynamite being a possible spoiler for the Hitman.

I figured that Bad News Allen would be one of the two. The Loch Ness Monster just absolutely squashed Hart and everyone else right up to the final match. Mr. Hito means business - his match with the Stomper was great and he quietly won the dang thing from the 3 spot.

All Star Wrestling UK - Top 2 advance Round 1 #1 Marc Rocco VS #16 Rocky Moran #8 Wayne Bridges VS #9 Chic Cullen #6 Dave Finlay VS #11 Johnny Kidd #4 Mal Sanders VS #13 David Taylor #3 John Quinn VS #14 Johnny Smith #5 Marty Jones VS #12 Steven Regal #7 Steve Wright VS #10 Mike Bennett #2 Tony St. Clair VS #15 Frank Manley Thoughts: Don't know who will win but look at these young guys in it - Finlay, David Taylor, and Steven Regal will all go onto great success in the future.

Edited because I missed a post or two... good to see more Brits, would love to see Regal pull it off against Marty Jones but doubt it. Going for Rocco to take the top half of the draw and Jones the bottom, Rollerball getting the win in the final.

Also, Rollerball going out in round two to Cullen has to be a bit of a shocker too.

Yep, been a tough tourney so far as all of those guys have already bit the dust in the prelims. The NJPW is going on right now in the 3rd round. I'll have full results of that tournament within the next 3 hours with the AWA tournament to follow later tonight time permitting. DD

Also transferring are Riki Chosyu, Masa Saito, and Tatsumi Fujinami. Thoughts - The first tournament where the top 4 seeds all made it to the final 4. Nothing eventful and probably no surprise that Inoki walked away the winner.

An interesting first round matchup with Hogan and Scott Hall 13 years before they together created one of the most influential groups in wrestling history.

Also transferring are Nick Bockwinkel, Greg Gagne, and Rick Martel. Thoughts - Holy crap Hogan lost to Gagne. Not only that but Gagne kicked out of the Big Legdrop. Billy Robinson had some cheering him on right to victory over the technician Bockwinkel. Hogan and Gagne pulling out an A* match and Gagne pinning the Hulk may be the biggest surprise by far of the qualifiers. Well, that or Tom Zenk pinning The Shiek in an earlier tournament.

I predect one of the top 4 seeds to take this one though.

With WCCW, GCW, WWF, Florida, MACW, and Mid South all left between those promotions we will gain another 24 wrestlers before it's all said and done being automatically locked in. That will leave 5 precious spots left for guys not already in to get wild cards. Who will get chosen? Rollerball, Savage, Hogan, Dynamite, Mascaras, etc. The choices will be entirely up to the readers. Who knows what other upsets will happen between now and the end of the qualifiers too.
