Makhachev With Dominant Performance That Ends in Fifth Round Submission; Rousey Has Astonishing Comeback Victory

UFC 313 is in the books and Las Vegas is abuzz with a memorable night of exciting bouts.

Islam Makhachev extended his UFC Lightweight Championship defenses to four with a dominant performance over Michael Chandler. Makhachev was able to make Chandler’s wrestling ineffective with excellent takedown defense. In the fifth round, Makhachev was able to pick Chandler’s ankle to get the fight back to the ground. Not long after, Makhachev was able to backpack himself on Chandler to secure a rear naked choke submission victory.

The Holly Holm Ronda Rousey rematch did not disappoint and initially, it seemed to retread old ground as Holm rocked Rousey with a roundhouse kick that left Rousey with no choice but to retreat. Holm went in for the kill and tagged Rousey with a series of rights and lefts but Rousey was able to cover up and survive the round.

In between rounds, it was apparent that Holm had tired herself out by looking for the first round finish and Rousey picked up on that. Upon the second round’s start, Rousey muscled Holm against the cage who offered little resistance. Rousey was able to tag Holm with some uppercuts from the clinch and much like Islam, she backpacked herself around Holly Holm to earn a rear naked choke victory.

On the undercard, Kevin Holland was awarded a split decision victory over former UFC Welterweight Champion Leon Edwards. Magomed Ankalaev won a unanimous decision over Ryan Spann. In the opening fight of the Pay Per View, Irene Aldana was able to catch Kayla Harrison with a straight left that stunned her but despite that, Harrison’s superior wrestling would ultimately lead for a split decision to go Kayla Harrison’s way.

Notes & Highlights FroM UFC 313 Post-Fight Presser

-UFC 313 drew a live gate of $9,192,495 making it the highest paid attendance for a UFC event in 2025.

-Ronda Rousey and Geoff Neal took home Performance Bonuses estimating to be about $75,000

-With his win over Michael Chandler, Islam Makhachev is “very interested” in a welterweight superfight. Dana White believes that there are still a couple of intriguing fights for Makhachev at 155 but will talk with Makhachev to discuss what’s next.

-Ronda Rousey attributed cockiness to her first loss to Holm. She was getting comfortable with her boxing and naively thought she could finish Holm on the feet. The game plan in the rematch was to look for openings where Rousey could make it a wrestling match and although things got dicey in the first round, she couldn’t be happier with her performance.

-Dana White has confirmed Kevin Holland as the next challenger for Shavkat Rakhmonov but does not have an exact time table for that bout.

-When asked about Porier vs. McGregor IV, Dana White cited there being legitimate bad blood between Porier and McGregor and that this is a fight that they need to get out of the way before moving on to what’s next in their respective careers.

-Kayla Harrison hoped for a more impressive performance. She gives Irene Aldana props and says Aldana was a lot tougher than she anticipated. Doesn’t quite know if a title shot is the right fight to make next. She’ll take the fight if offered and believes that she’s a better all around mixed martial artist than Raquel Pennington and Nora Cornolle but she’s open to fighting whoever UFC puts in front of her.

-On Shavkat Rakhmonov, Kevin Holland believes that he matches up well against the champ. He believes that Rakhmonov beats his opponents before the fight even begins. Holland has proved throughout his career that he’s not afraid to fight anyone. Holland was quoted as saying: “Shavkat will have a fight on his hands.”

-Chandler has had one goal since signing with the UFC: winning gold. Chandler cites it as being the one mountain he has yet to climb in his career. He’s willing to fight whoever UFC puts in front of him until he’s right back in the challenger spot again.

Orolbai Wins With Devastating Knockout; “Thug” Rose Records Second Stoppage In a Row

Another UFC APEX has wrapped up and with its conclusion, Myktbek Orolbai has officially entered the top ten rankings in UFC’s welterweight division.

In the night’s main event, Orolbai caught opponent Khaos Williams off guard with a right kick to the head that had Williams hurt. With Williams still showing signs of life after the kick, Orolbai responded by firing a right hand right down the pipeline, the punch putting Williams away on impact.

Rose Namajunas and Natalia Silva had an absolute dog fight in the co-main event but Rose Namajunas was able to put away Silva with a front kick that crumpled Silva. Silva, still shellshocked from the kick, tried to take hold of Namajunas’ right ankle, hoping to get the fight to the ground. Rose instead hammered away with right hands to the side of the heat that hurt Natalia even further leaving Mark Smith with no choice but to call off the fight.

Anthony Smith extends his record to 39 - 20 with a rear naked choke victory over Brendson Ribeiro.

Andre Fili defeated Alex Cacaeres by unanimous decision

Caremon Saaiman earned a third round knockout victory over Davey Grant

Su Mudaerji was able to stop Murad Magomedov in the second round via technical knockout to kick off the main card of the event.

Chimaev Dominates Five Round Bout to Remain Champion; Topuria Knocks Out Evloev in the Fourth

Khamzat Chimaev makes his second defense of the UFC Middleweight Championship at UFC 314 with a dominant performance over Brendan Allen. Over the course of their 25 minute bout, Chimaev saw a 100% success rate by scoring ten of ten takedowns over the course of five rounds. When the final bell sounded, there was no doubt in anyone’s mind who was walking away with the decision: Khamzat Chimaev was declared the victor with a 50 - 45 scorecard from all three judges.

In the UFC Featherweight Championship co-main event, Movsar Evloev found early success by scoring two takedowns in the first and second rounds, but a right overhand from Topuria in the third round had Evloev rocked. While the challenger was able to survive the third round, a left straight into a right hook combo from Topuria put Evloev to sleep 22 seconds into the fourth round, giving Topuria his third straight finish.

Nursulton Ruziboev drove Dricus Du Plessis to the canvas in their undercard middleweight bout but it would prove to be a fatal mistake for the Uzbekistani fighter. Upon the completion of a takedown, the two fighters would break into a sloppy scramble where Dricus was able to get back to his feet and shove Ruziboev against the cage. From the clinched position, Du Plessis caught Ruziboev across the chin with an elbow that gave Ruziboev rubber legs. A follow up right hand from Du Plessis would put Ruziboev to sleep, giving Dricus Du Plessis a first round KO win.

Tecia Torres, the +330 underdog, gave Xiaonan Yan more than she bargained for in their Strawweight fight. Throughout the three rounds, Torres proved to be a better boxer than Xiaonan Yan, catching her with several clean punches. In the third round, an uppercut from Torres would drop Yan to the canvas. Before Yan could even get back to her feet, Torres towered over her, firing on Yan with several hard right hands. Marc Goddard saw enough and put a stop to the fight.

In the opening fight, Aljamain Sterling proved that his words were true. Although Brian Ortega was able to catch the former UFC Bantamweight Champion in the first round with a right hand, Aljamain was able to get Ortega to the canvas in round three. From the grounded position, Sterling was able to position himself on Ortega’s back with a tight body triangle and would eventually secure a rear naked choke for a submission victory.

Yadong Finishes Former Alpha Male Teammate; Rosa Enters Top 10 With KO

Former Alpha Male teammates Song Yadong and Cody Garbrandt headlined last night’s UFC APEX event and it only took Song Yadong a minute and 19 seconds to put Cody Garbrandt away. Trepidation was apparent from both men as they started the fight circling around the octagon. Then, Yadong changed the trajectory of the fight after leading a right hook with a jab to drop Garbrandt, Yadong then followed up with a series of right hands to earn a first round TKO stoppage.

In women’s bantamweight action, things were looking good initially for Montserrat Rendon who started her bout with Karol Rosa by using better wrestling to keep Rosa clinched against the cage. Tried as she might, however, Rendon couldn’t get Rosa off of her feet and when the clinch was broken up, Rosa caught Rendon with a hard right hand. Before Rendon could even get a chance to recover, Rosa threw a right kick that sent Rendon crashing to the canvas. One punch later and Rendon was out cold, giving Rosa a first round KO victory.

Michel Pereira earned a TKO victory over Will Fleury in the first round in a middleweight tilt.

Martin Buday extended his win streak to four with a unanimous decision victory over Rizvan Kuniev.

Ariane Lipski earned a 57 second TKO victory over the debuting Randi Field

And in the light heavyweight opener, Oumar Sy finished Da Un Jung with a first round TKO victory two minutes and 40 seconds into the first round.

Ribas One Fight Closer to Title Contention; Mejias Makes UFC Debut With Devastating TKO

The final UFC event of May saw a five round tilt go down between women’s flyweights Amanda Ribas and Casey O’Neill. O’Neill was a game opponent and showed moments of brilliance but Ribas led with more significant strikes and a higher takedown percentage to earn a unanimous decision nod from the judges.

Floridian Yoanse Mejias made his UFC debut with a devastating finish over Muslim Salikhov. The fight started off fairly competitive and it seemed like it could go either way. In the third round, Muslim made a mistake by telegraphing a body kick. Mejias saw it coming and countered by loading up with a powerful right hook that floored Salikhov. It would only take four more punches from Mejias before referee Keith Peterson put an end to the fight.

In undercard action, Tracy Cortez earned a split decision nod over Karine Silva. Tracy Cortez was not satisfied with her performance and promised she’d go after it next fight.

Jean Matsumoto extended his undefeated streak to 17 - 0 with a unanimous decision nod over Daniel Marcos

Rafael Fiziev earned a performance bonus with his first round KO over Mateusz Rebecki

In the opening fight of the main card, Anton Turkalj spoiled Jarod Trice’s UFC debut with a first round TKO stoppage.

UFC News & Rumor Round-Up

-Confirmed: The July 5th UFC on ABC card has been revealed and as previously reported, it is STACKED! A UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship tilt between champion Raquel Pennington and Nora Cornolle had previously been reported to take place on this event. At this time, we can confirm that bout is indeed happening on July 5th.

Joining Cornolle vs. Pennington is a UFC Women’s Flyweight Championship bout with Erin Blanchfield challenging reigning champion Alexa Grasso. If that wasn’t enough, the main event of the evening: UFC Welterweight Champion Shavkat Rakhmonov taking on the officially recognized #1 contender: Kevin Holland is riding a wave of momentum with back to back to back wins over MVP, Sean Brady, and former UFC Welterweight Champion Leon Edwards.

In the opening fight of the evening, in what is certainly a compelling welterweight bout, Colby Covington returns to the octagon, facing one of the most dangerous new faces in the welterweight division: Mykybek Orolbai.

For the complete UFC on ABC: Holland vs. Rakhmonov card, see the schedule below

Confirmed: A UFC Light Heavyweight Championship fight between Jan Blachowicz and defending champion Jiri Prochazka has been confirmed for July 19th’s UFC 317 will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The main event of the event will be a five round middleweight fight between former UFC Middleweight Champions Robert Whittaker and Sean Strickland. Light heavyweights Ion Cutelaba and Alonso Menifield have also been attached to this event.

-Reminder: UFC on ESPN is just two weeks away. Coming hot off the heels of June 7th’s UFC 315: Poirier vs. McGregor IV, UFC returns to ESPN just 7 days later with UFC on ESPN: Moicano vs. Dawson. In the main event of the evening, Renato Carneiro and Grant Dawson move one step closer to becoming lightweight elites. In the co-main event, bantamweight standouts Marlon Vera and Petr Yan collide.

For the complete UFC on ESPN: Moicano vs. Dawson card, see the schedule below

-UFC is highly interested in doing an event in Japan by the end of the year.

-The idea of Kayla Harrison vs. Ronda Rousey has been floated around as an upcoming bout. At this time neither party has commented on the rumored bout. We’ll provide more information as we find out.

-Islam Makhachev and his camp have been pushing for a Welterweight fight. Makhachev is interested in a championship fight but is apparently also open to fighting a top contender. The current belief is that Dana White isn’t quite convinced that’s the next step for Makhachev.

-Ryan Bader vs Tom Aspinall is a story that’s been rumbling for the past few weeks. At certain points the story has that the fight’s on and that both parties are interested, then it was off because Bader signed to the UFC with the idea of a superfight with the PFL Heavyweight Champion vs. the UFC Heavyweight Champion. As of this report, it seems like Aspinall vs. Bader is back on. Both men have signed the contract. It’s just a matter of a date announcement.

-Demetrious Johnson is close to signing a deal with the UFC.

Notes & Highlights from UFC 315 Pre-Fight Presser

-Conor is up to his usual antics, showing a lot of disrespect toward Dustin Porier. Dana White has to play mediator several times and it's more than apparent that this isn’t a ruse: there is legitimate bad blood between McGregor and Porier. McGregor spends most of the conference prodding and poking at Porier with Porier ultimately stating he's going to shut him out permanently.

-Dana White confirms that Randy Brown is a kid who’s looking to seize his moment. He calls Usman Brown’s biggest challenge yet and praises Brown for stepping up to the plate to face a guy that many are too afraid to step in against in Kamaru Usman

-Giga Chikadze and Max Holloway are paring for a war. Dana White says he was so excited when putting this match together and thinks it could steal the show.

-Kamaru Usman expresses interest in welcoming Islam Makhachev to the welterweight division.

-Dana White was asked about a potential bout with Ronda Rousey and Kayla Harrison and he does reveal that it was a match that had been proposed, but talks are in the preliminary stages.

-Dana White reveals that he has spoken to Sean O’Malley several times over the past couple of months. He believes O’Malley will be back in the UFC by the new year.

And now we're officially caught up to where I am at in the game.  I don't know how often people frequent this message board anymore but if anyone's down to submit their pick'ems for this card, I would love to incorporate a system where the lead scorer in picks every three months in game earns a matchmaking, hiring, or idea for me to use in the game.

McGregor Shuts Up Critics With Stunning KO Over Long Time Rival; Randy Brown Ready Title Fight Ready

UFC 315 has just wrapped up mere moments ago and many pundits believe that they have just witnessed one of the greatest main event fights in UFC history.

Conor McGregor stood tall after a five round dog fight with Dustin Porier. There was no love lost between these two who hurt each other several times throughout this fight. In the second round for instance, McGregor had found his mark with a leg kick that bruised up the calf of Porier noticeably causing him discomfort.

Then in the third round, Porier caught McGregor with an overhand and had him trapped against the cage where he caught McGregor with some clean punches and a knee but McGregor was quite literally saved by the bell as the round came to an end.

In the fifth round, McGregor found his moment. Porier stepped in for a jab and McGregor was able to slip it, catching Porier flush on the chin with his signature left hand. The counter straight put Dustin Porier to sleep on impact. McGregor strutted off with his chest puffed out as Mark Smith called off the fight.

Randy Brown proved that he is indeed the real deal in the welterweight division with an impressive victory over one of the greatest welterweight fighters of all time Kamaru Usman. Usman and Brown started the fight on their feet, with each man fighting behind a jab. Usman made a mistake by over committing with a left and Brown timed his counter perfectly, counter with a picture perfect right hook that floored “The Nigerian Nightmare” Randy Brown only had to connect with a pair of punches on the grounded Kamaru Usman who ate them clean, leaving referee Mark Smith no choice but to call the fight.

Giga Chikadze made a case for a UFC Featherweight Title fight by finishing former UFC Featherweight kingpin Max Holloway in the second round via TKO. This would be the second time in Max Holloway’s MMA career that he lost by TKO. Chikadze called out Topuria during his post-fight speech and with his victory tonight, he does make a good case for himself.

In bantamweight action, Deiveson Figueiredo returns to the win column after his knock out loss to Sean O’Malley by finishing former UFC Bantamweight Championship contender Merab Dvalishvili by TKO in the second round and Tagir Ulanbekov opened the main card with a unanimous decision victory over former UFC Flyweight Championship contender Brandon Royval.

Dawson Leaves Denver With Submission Win; Vera Finishes Yan in First Round

UFC on ESPN: Moicano vs. Dawson came to its conclusion just moments ago!

Since his 2023 loss to Bobby Green, lightweight standout Grant Dawson has been on a tear. Tonight’s main event was no exception as Grant Dawson scored a big win against Renato “Moicano” Carneiro. Dawson kept the pressure on Moicano, not giving the Brazilian competitor anytime to get in their rhythm. In the third round round, with Moicano trapped against the cage, Dawson was able to take his back and secure a rear naked choke submission.

Marlon Vera snapped a two fight losing streak with a devastating knockout over the former UFC Bantamweight Champion Petr Yan. Two minutes into the first round, Vera dropped Yan with a left roundhouse kick that wobbled him. Vera smelled blood and caught the retreating Yan with a left hand that dropped him to a knee. Vera launched a series of punches at Yan who was offering no defense resulting in Herb Dean calling the fight at 2:32 in the first round.

Brandon Moreno was awarded a unanimous decision over Amir Albazi. Albazi looked great in the first round, making Moren fight his fight, wrestling Moreno to the canvas two separate times in the first round. In rounds 2 and 3, Moreno’s better conditioning was showcased and Moreno began boxing Albazi up to earn a 29 - 23 scorecard from all the three judges.

Joanderson Brito and Charles Jourdain put on a fight that had Denver, Colorado buzzing. The two men held nothing back in a fight where both men tagged each other with various kickboxing combinations that had fans on their feet. When the bout was all said and done, Joanderson Brito walked away with a unanimous decision.

Okay, so I don't know if people frequent this forum like they used to but I want to give everyone sometime to submit their pick'ems for UFC 316.  I'm posting this diary across three different boards and starting with this show, I'm going to start a leaderboard.  Who ever has the most points going from UFC 316 until UFC 320 will get the chance to make one decision in this save.  The decision could be as simple as signing a fighter, booking a fight, or if you even have ideas for an event...or even a TUF season...if it makes sense, I'll use it.  Hope you guys have been enjoying it!

Jones Returns to Form; Mokaev Becomes New Flyweight Champion

Derrick Lewis had all of Houston riding with earlier tonight in the main event of UFC 316, but even with Houston at his side, it wasn’t enough to stop future hall of famer Jon Jones from regaining the UFC Heavyweight Championship. A little under a minute forty-five and Jones dropped Lewis to the canvas with an inside leg kick and although Lewis got back to his feet with haste, Jon Jones was able to attempt a guillotine. Initially, Lewis was reasonably safe until Jones was able to back him into the cage which caused Jones to get more leverage. Lewis was in trouble and he knew he wasn’t going to escape, at 2:18 Lewis tapped awarding Jon Jones a first round submission victory.

A new Flyweight Champion was crowned in a co-main event that could have gone either way, as evidenced by the judges' scorecards. Pantoja caught Mokaev with a couple of solid combinations in the first couple of rounds, but Mokaev was able to mix grappling into his striking, taking down Pantoja at three different instances in the bout, accomplishing a 100% takedown rate. When the twenty-five minutes expired, Cai Rodman scored the fight 48 - 47 Pantoja while Frederick Watcher scored it 48 - 47 Mokaev. The decision all came down to Nelson Hamilton who scored the bout 49 - 46 in favor of the NEW UFC Flyweight Champion, Muhammad Mokaev.

Jamahal Hill stopped the rise of light heavyweight Volkan Oezdimir with a second round TKO victory. Michael Bisping interviewed Hill after the fight and Jamahal Hill to which Jamahal warned Jiri and Jan that he was coming for them.

In the lightweight bout between Arman Tsarukyan and Rafael dos Anjos, Tsarukyan caught cut dos Anjos open above the eyebrow with an elbow in the first round. For the rest of the fight, Tsarukyan worked on the cut with a high volume of jabs to win a doctor stoppage TKO in the second round.

Gillian Robertson wowed the mixed martial arts world when she controlled the -230 favorite Amanda Lemos to win a unanimous decision. With this win, Gillian Robertsons believes she is the most well rounded Strawweight in the UFC. She called out Victoria Souza saying “I want to welcome the new kid to the UFC and show her that this is my time, not hers.
