Mildly_Amusing Posted August 1 Share Posted August 1 This is a mod I started back when TEW 2020 came out and for various reasons never got a chance to finish. With the improvements of TEW IX I think I can realise this mod as I wanted to back then. Introduction The year is 2002 and the wrestling world has rapidly changed within the first 2 years of the new millenium. In North America, both WCW and ECW have died leaving WWF as the sole national promotion in the region. WWF's failed Invasion led to a "brand split" where it's bloated roster is now spread across 2 distinct brands. There are numerous independent promotions eager to be the successor to either ECW or WCW. Lots of the Time Warner contracted WCW stars are approaching the end of their deals and can return to wrestling soon. In Japan, the two major promotions became 3 after NOAH's formation and rapid success. AJPW has seemingly began to recover from it's mass exodus and has even poached a group from New Japan, led by Keiji Mutoh. In NJPW, Inokii's love affair with MMA shows no sign of slowing. He's made a tag team wrestler the top champion for winning an MMA fight while young talent seem frustrated. Internally, their are growing tensions that could soon boil over. In Mexico, the eternal war for Lucha Libre dominance continues between CMLL and AAA with a few notable independent promtions. In the UK & Europe, the scene is pretty weak. However, with the right booking and eye for talent, that could all change rapidly. In Oceania, the region has its first major promotion since the original World Championship Wrestling in WWA. Despite it being based in Oceania, the promotion primarily focuses on international tours featuring various US scene cast offs.
