LUCHA STORM Founded in 2022 by Pablo Rodriguez, Lucha Storm takes a lot of cues (and wrestlers) from EMLL. At the foundation of the company, this caused some tensions between Pablo and El Bandido. At one point in the year, it seemed that the two companies might become enemies but since the two owners have found common ground in the creation of Modern Professional Luchalibre. MPL is an open working relationship between LS, EMLL, QAW and ZEN! The tops stars of Lucha Storm headed into the new year are: Texas Tornado (Frankie-Boy Fernandes) | El Brillante (Mitchell Aldred) | Tigre Salvaje Jr | Amazing Fire Fly The current broadcast team of Lucha Storm consists of: Dane O'Hara | Madman Boone At the end of 2022 the major storyline in Lucha Storm came to a head with Pablo Rodriguez being either consumed or possessed by a dark spirit summoned by unknown forces. This event ended with the cliffhanger of Pablo's possession hanging as the company rolled into the new year, leaving fans hungry for details headed into the company's first show of 2023, EARLY WARNING (a note: please bear with me. Although I have been playing TEW for several generations, this is my first time even attempting a diary.) The dark cloud that settled over Pablo Rodriguez and his company seems to have rewritten history, eliminated the championships and crumbled long held partnerships. Early Warning opens with a video package revisiting those fateful moments at the close of last year. The package ends with a dark shadow settling over the screen and then the Lucha Storm logo on a pure black background. --=ANGLE=-- Rating : 59 The show fades up from black smoke and ominous laughter to Pablo Rodriguez standing in the center of the ring. Gone is his typically happy demeanor, replaced by dark rings around his eyes. His welcome to Early Warning is bleak and lacking in energy. “Welcome to MY new and improved Lucha Storm.” – Pablo Rodriguez After a couple of minutes of telling the crowd how things are going to be going forward, he is joined at ringside by El Fuego Del Hijo. However, when the young star attempts to slide into the ring Pablo stomps on him and unceremoniously leaves him lying. “I’m glad to see some order being restored around this hell hole!” – Madman Boone “I for one am not excited about our current predicament. Something about ancient power gives me the creeps. But, for everyone’s sanity let’s look at what Pablo was going on about.” – Dane O’Hara | --=ANGLE=-- Rating : 40 The screen cuts away from Pablo leaving the ring to another video package. This is the new intro video for Lucha Storm. It details the Five Forebearers, powerful warriors of history, whose lineage lives on in the combatants of Lucha Storm. Tona, warrior of the morning sun, the rising star. Coatl, warrior of the midday sun, the shining light. Totec, warrior of the setting sun, the guiding light in the coming dark. Xol and Quetz, the twin warriors of the night, those that watch over one another. As the video ends it pans over five totems that represent the Forebearers. | | | --=OPENING MATCH=-- Huracan Sandoval Jr vs Komodo Dragon vs Rating : 35 | Match Length : 6:38 Huracan Sandoval Jr. goes over Komodo Dragon in a standard opening match. The two have no history and very little heat between them. --=MATCH TWO=-- Brain & Brawn vs Storm Front vs Rating : 47 | Match Length : 7:17 Brain & Brawn score the win over Storm’s End when Chess Maniac pins Shooting Star Perez. These two teams had several battles last year and their animosity shows. --=MATCH THREE=-- Samael the Accuser vs Carion vs Rating : 41 | Match Length : 6:24 Carion picks up a big when on Samael the Accuser who was on a great winning streak at the end of 2022. Carion is a newer member of the roster. --=MATCH FOUR=-- Royalty vs Dos Capitanos vs Pure Gold vs vs Rating : 50 | Match Length : 7:44 Aztec Prince and Snake King continue to show what made Royalty the top team in the company before the massive reset. Goldenrod and Captain Canada are still having issues keeping up with the other members of the Duos Division. --=MAIN EVENT=-- Amazing Fire Fly / Tigre Salvaje Jr / Caro Lucha Man vs Texas Tornado / El Brillante / El Majestad vs Rating : 70 | Match Length : 9:54 Texas Tornado, El Brillante and El Majestad take the victory over the technicos in the first main event match of the new year. El Brillante and Amazing Fire Fly shine in this match. Some notes : Front loading all the angles into the start of the show has become a habit with Lucha Storm, one that I desperately need to break. Because, I realize I haven’t given enough story to cut up the other matches. I also realize that I need to give more detail on the matches I hold on the card. The video features highlights from the main event of Early Warning. Amazing Fire Fly with his typical high flying antics. Tigre Salvaje Jr with a hot tag and wild comeback against all three of the opposing Rudos. Texas Tornado and El Majestad with a DDT into a Frog Spalsh. And finally, it comes to an end with El Brillante hitting his finisher on Caro Lucha Man but doesn’t show the following pin. Rating : 33 --=OPENING MATCH=-- Carion vs Komodo Dragon vs Rating : 35 | Match Length : 6:07 We jump straight into the action with Carion and Komodo Dragon, two of Lucha Storm’s newest hires being given time to work on their skills and try to get over with the fans. Dane O’Hara talks about Carion’s arrival in Lucha Storm and how it was right around the time everything started going south for Pablo Rodriguez. In the end Carion manages to pick up his second victory of the new year. --=ANGLE=-- The idol of one of the Five Forebearers appears on screen. As the arena is cast in a deep green lighting. A familiar voice (Madman Boone) booms over the PA system. “I am Tona, lord of the Rising Sun. I will bestow my blessing on the best and brightest of the future. CARION! Next week the warrior Sidewinder will compete against Tsuchi. You will do battle with the winner. The one who walks away victorious will have the honor of being the first Chosen of Tona.” – Forerunner Tona Carion looks about the ring slightly confused as the stark green lights fade away, replaced once again by the normal house lights. As he clears the ring the commentary team joke about how familiar Forerunner Tona sounded but never become obvious. Rating : 31 --=MATCH TWO=-- Pure Gold vs CHAOS vs Rating : 44 | Match Length : 8:32 Both of these teams consist of one wrestler who would be higher on the card in singles (El Tona and Hysteria) and one that would be lower on the card (Hablador and Goldenrod). It’s going to take a lot of time and energy to turn Hablador into a star in the ring, but he excels on the microphone. El Tona on the other hand could be separated and moved into the main event scene at any time. Pure Gold pick up a victory when El Tona pins Hablador. --=MATCH THREE=-- Cyclops vs Papa Grande vs Rating :51 | Match Length : 6:23 Papa Grande makes his way to the ring alone and with new entrance music for his first appearance of the new year. His partnership with Viento Negro and Temerario seems to have been dissolved by the looming darkness. A fact that Madman Boone is nearly giddy about. Without Los Santos working as a unit, Lucha Storm is short one beacon of hope. Cyclops is given the treatment of a true monster. Something is very different about him now that he’s not following the feet of El Majestad. This match is a war of aggression and strength between two men intent on tearing one another apart. That aggression leads to a quick match that ends with Cyclops leveling Papa Grande and pinning him in the center of the ring. When Jez McArthur attempts to raise the monster’s hand he is swatted down. The crowd seems really moved by Cyclops’ presentation. --=ANGLE=-- The show cuts away to a dimly lit room. Fans of Lucha Storm have seen this room before, but it’s slightly changed. Where there used to be three thrones, there are now only two and a pile of rubble between them. Snake King steps in from the right, crosses the entire screen and sits on the throne at the left. There is a lingering silence as he stares into the camera. Moments later, Aztec Prince makes his way across the screen from the opposite side and sits on the right throne. Snake King does a majority of the talking as they go on about POWER and how their relationship with El Brillante is dissolved moving forward. “Royalty will no longer be moved by the whims of another.” – Snake King “The blood of great luchadores runs through our veins. We will reign over Lucha Storm.” – Aztec Prince Rating : 31 --=MATCH FOUR=-- Caro Lucha Man vs El Brillante vs Rating : 63 | Match Length : 6:52 In what could have easily been the main event of any other show, Caro Lucha Man and El Brillante go to war with one another. El Brillante is telling the story that he no longer has help at ringside to turn the tide of matches for him as he’s slow to take control back from Caro Lucha Man on several occasions. In the end El Brillante is able to just barely scrape by with a victory over Caro Lucha Man by hitting a 24 Karat DDT off the top rope. --=ANGLE=-- Pablo Rodriguez passes El Brillante on his way out of the ring. He walks around the ring, with an angry look plastered on his face. Using the top rope for leverage, he shoves Caro Lucha Man under the bottom rope with his feet. Pablo takes a deep breath as if savoring the boo’s of the crowd. Pablo talks down to the crowd and how they waste their admiration on people like Caro Lucha Man, when he’s the one calling all the shots. His taunting of the crowd goes on uninterrupted for three minutes before he joins the commentary desk for the main event. Rating : 65 --=MAIN EVENT=-- Amazing Fire Fly vs Texas Tornado vs Rating : 68 | Match Length : 10:10 Amazing Fire Fly has been the stand out performer of the company over the last year, but for some reason he hasn’t received a solid push to go along with his stellar in-ring work. Texas Tornado on the other hand spent the better part of nine months undefeated until his loss at the hands of Tigre Salvaje Jr. The two men put on a dazzling show for the excited crowd. In the end, Amazing Fire Fly comes out on top by reversing out of Lone Star Slam into a tornado ddt followed up by the Sky High Fire Fly for the 1…2…3! ------------------------------------------------------- --=BACKSTAGE EVENTS=-- Hablador found himself in wrestler’s court for staring too longingly at himself. Madman Boone hit his pocketbook with a round of drinks for the locker room. I’ve got to think it helped calm Snake King’s nerves now that he’s taking over the talking from El Brillante. Goldenrod is up to no good, starting rumors about fellow members of the roster. The incident almost led to a fist fight backstage and was handled with a small fine. Goldenrod was however very displeased by this outcome. El Brillante continued his duties as head trainer. He’s currently working on basics and safety with 10 students. Snake King’s character has been developed with assistance from the creative team. I'm working on finding a better image for Cyclops (or making one) because I don't like his image. Event Updated... A video package begins playing that highlights the rise of Tigre Salvaje Jr through various clips pulled from the last year of Lucha Storm. His several victories over big name opponents get flashes. Lightning strikes the video in a blinding flash to reveal a figure silhouetted. The sinister laughter continues to echo across the arena as we fade to the ring. Rating : 40 --=OPENING MATCH=-- Young Justice vs Corruption Rating : 18 | Match Length : 9:50 vs Who would have figured, a poor match rating from two fresh out of school recruits? The wrestling was AWFUL and the crowd hated every second of Young Justice in the ring. I've got a feeling that this young wrestler isn't going to do well in Lucha Storm. The match ended in a submission victory for Corruption. Watching the masked cowboy tap out may have been the highlight of many people's night. The creative team has a lot of work ahead of them if they are going to find any use for Young Justice going forward. --=ANGLE=-- The camera cuts to backstage as Temerario is thrown into a wall. He struggles to climb back to his feet just to get leveled once again by Cyclops. Cyclops picks Temerario up and locks him in a chokehold, strangling the life out of him. Several members of the production team and staff show up to separate the two. "This maniac is going to end Temerario's career!" - Dane O'Hara Rating : 32 --=MATCH TWO=-- Tsuchi vs Sidewinder Rating : 22 | Match Length : 6:23 vs Another pair of fresh recruits get tossed to the wolves and manage to come up only slightly better than the opening match. We're going to have to work hard to get the Rising Stars of Lucha Storm to actually rise up the card. For now, I think we're going to see a lot of newbies eating pins in frankenteam matches. I guess that gives me a chance to flex some of the depth of roster going on. Sidewinder comes up with the victory over Tsuchi in a match that actually stretched the limits of Tsuchi's stamina. This means he is going to be facing Carion at the next show to determine who will be the first Chosen of Tona. --=MATCH THREE=-- Blue Phantom vs Deadly Deadshot Rating : 45 | Match Length : 9:29 vs Nearly thirty minutes into the show and the crowd is finally handed something to sink their teeth into. Blue Phantom and Deadly Deadshot have proven to have good chemistry in the ring together in a trio of matches in 2022. This marks their first encounter this year and squares the combination back up at two wins apiece when Blue Phantom scores a victory with the Phantom Cradle. --=ANGLE=-- Pablo Rodriguez's music hits and he makes his way down toward the ring for what might be becoming his new way of getting the crowd fired up in the middle of a show. This time however, he is followed to the ring very closely by his (kayfabe) son. El Fuego Del Hijo continues to play the roll of whipping boy well. He slides into the ring when Pablo's back is turned to avoid another stomping. Pablo takes hold of the microphone and turns to notice his son's sniveling face. "Can I manage a single night without having to look at you? You're all the worst parts of me, rolled into one weak package." - Pablo Rodriguez "I'm not weak, I haven't lost a match in half a year!" - El Fuego Del Hijo "Let's see you keep that streak up next week, when you face three competitors!" - Pablo Rodriguez Seemingly drained of the will to push the buttons of the crowd, Pablo flips the microphone to the mat, slides out of the ring and exits the arena in rapid succession. El Fuego is left alone in the ring confused. "You see that confusion? I'm confused too. Is he going to be in a four corners match next week or a handicap match?" - Dane O'Hara "With any luck it's a handicap match and Father Rodriguez is going to pick the right three guys to rid us of this whining little brat." - Madman Boone Rating : 47 --=MATCH FOUR=-- Royalty vs Storm Front Rating : 49 | Match Length : 13:19 vs Snake King and Aztec Prince are quickly becoming a great pair as they shine in this match against Storm Front. Shooting Star Perez continues to drag down Rey Del Cielo as he winds up eating the pin and having the worst performance of the night for a non-rookie. Snake King seems to be developing a following despite his status as a Rudo and being a member of a team that isn't itself gaining the same following. --=ANGLE=-- We cut away to the interior of a house. There are several unknown masked wrestlers (mostly in aquatic animal themed masks) gathered around a table singing in Spanish. The camera pulls in to reveal Dolphin Master sitting at the head of a table in front of a giant cake that says "CONGRATULATIONS" in massive letters across it. Everyone claps as the finish singing and Dolphin Master laughs with happiness. "Gracias, mi amigos!" - Dolphin Master The luchadores gathered here are celebrating Dolphin Master's first win at Storm's End in December of 2022. Prior to that night Dolphin Master was running a zero and fourteen losing streak. The camera fades out as someone brings Dolphin Master a serving knife to cut the cake. Rating : 24 --=MATCH FIVE=-- Jungle Cats vs Dos Capitanos Rating : 36 | Match Length : 5:08 vs The rating of this match doesn't represent the great work put in by the Jungle Cats and Captain Lucha. However the match is only as strong as its weakest link and perhaps Captain Canada needed to be sidelined for a majority of this match to improve how it lands with the fans. The four wrestlers fly at a chaotic pace, throwing caution to the wind and leaning into full mayhem for the entire five minute match. Amo Del Gato secures the win for his team with a Scratch and Claw followed by pin. --=MAIN EVENT=-- Amazing Fire Fly vs El Brillante Rating : 75 | Match Length : 8:40 vs Finally, a match that is better than the sum of it's parts. Both men put in a spectacular amount of work to make the relatively short match work. It seemed like they were trying to get across how well El Brillante had this match scouted as he had an answer for everything. Amazing Fire Fly went looking for a senton late in the match and caught a pair of knees to the back. He wasn't able to recover and walked right into a 24 Karat DDT. El Brillante picks up the victory. --=ANGLE=-- The Jungle Cats return to ringside as both El Brillante and Amazing Fire Fly struggle to get back to their feet. The pair slide into the ring and suddenly Tigre Salvaje Jr's music hits. The Savage Tiger sprints to the ring and slides in between the Jungle Cats and Amazing Fire Fly. The crowd cheers as Amazing Fire Fly makes it two his feet and the pair stare down the Jungle Cats. Suddenly, Tigre lays an elbow into Fire Fly. The three cat themed luchadores begin to stomp Fire Fly into the mat as El Brillante slinks away up the ramp unnoticed. Amo Del Gato and El Jaguar pull Amazing Fire Fly to his feet and get him into position for the Salvaje Suplex. The lights go out. A murmur ripples across the crowd. The lights come back up and Zen! star Pumpkin Jack is standing face to face with Tigre Salvaje Jr. The two men begin to brawl. Amazing Fire Fly shakes off his attackers and the throws them from the ring one at a time. Pumpkin throws Tigre against the ropes and Fire Fly dropkicks him over. "What did we just witness?" - Dane O'Hara "Looks like the Tiger has gone to the Wyldside!" - Madman Boone The show ends with Amazing Fire Fly and Pumpkin Jack standing tall. Rating : 40 ------------------------------------------------------- --=BACKSTAGE EVENTS=-- Hablador has come up with an idea for a future angle. It was as bad as Hablador is in the ring! Snap Dragon Jr caused some damage to Viento Negro's rental car and was fined to cover the repairs. It was time to pull someone in from the Alliance Trade system and who better than Pumpkin Jack? He's been on the losing side of both his matches in Zen! this year and had four failed attempts at the Zen Master title last year. Maybe some North American exposure will do him well. The crowd absolutely hate him. And, Jungle Cats pick up a victory over Dos Capitanos. I want Captain Canada to perform so much better than he actually has. His priestly vestments bear streaks of orange and navy blue this week. Something very different from his typical all black and white look. The lights dim as the camera pushes in on him, illuminated by a spotlight. It takes several moments for the Austin crowd to settle down enough for him to speak. "Ladies and Gentlemen, tonight I promise a sacrifice to the Forerunners. I will give my own son to see their power return to this ring tonight. And, it's happening now!" - Pablo Rodriguez Rating : 58 --=OPENING MATCH=-- El Fuego Del Hijo vs Hablador / Hysteria / El Majestad vs Rating : 40 | Match Length : 2:33 El Fuego Del Hijo never had a chance at winning this one with the odds stacked so high against him. The three former members of Wild Riders come to the ring as a unit once again in gear with similar color stings to Pablo Rodriguez. The crowd almost seem to get behind El Fuego for a time but he's still attempting dirty tricks to come away with the victory, so no turn in sight. Hablador serves this match well by never getting tagged into the ring for the duration of the match. --=MATCH TWO=-- Carion vs Sidewinder **Winner become the Chosen of Tona** vs Rating : 36 | Match Length : 6:06 The chemistry between Sidewinder and Carion was awful and truly held this match back from being as good as it should have. The two have a very back and forth match but Carion comes away with the victory in this exchange. Sidewinder rolls to the outside after taking the loss, leaving Carion in the ring to celebrate. --=ANGLE=-- The lights in the arena go out for the second time tonight, plummeting the crowd into absolute darkness. Then, a dep green light illuminates Carion in the middle of the ring. The green light flickers for a few moments and then goes back out. It's dark again. After a few agonizing moments the lights come back up to reveal Carion holding the idol of one of the Forerunners over his head. The carved stone is roughly a foot from side to side. Carion celebrates while the crowd manages a few polite cheers. Rating : 28 --=MATCH THREE=-- Cyclops vs Blue Phantom vs Rating : 33 | Match Length : 5:30 Cyclops continues his push as a monster coming up with a big win over Blue Phantom. This keeps him undefeated so far this year and commentary pushes how much havoc he has been creating backstage with his assaults. No one has had an answer for this beast. --=ANGLE=-- Post match, we cut to Madman Boone and Dane O'Hara at the commentary desk. The pair announce that the main event is going to be a six man tag match between the newly aligned members of Wyldstyle and the team of Caro Lucha Man, Amazing Fire Fly and ZEN's very own Pumpkin Jack! Dane put his hand to his ear and announces in his best feigned surprise that there seems to be some commotion going on backstage. The video cut away to backstage where a slew of crew members are laid out and Cyclops is once again on the rampage. New comers Tsuchi and Young Justice attempt to get in his way and they are both viciously dealt with in rapid succession. As Cyclops rounds the corner out of sight we hear lots of screaming but the feed cuts back to the commentator's desk. "I've been told that American Animal is one of the victims of Cyclops' attack before we were on scene. Unfortunately he has sustained an injury in his assault and will not be able to compete with his tag partner tonight." - Dane O'Hara "Even more unfortunate, the Forerunners have decided to let Captain Lucha replace him in that match and it's up next." - Madman Boone Rating : 38 --=MATCH FOUR=-- Brain & Brawn vs American Flash & Captain Lucha vs Rating : 52 | Match Length : 7:40 Death's Head and Captain Lucha start out this match. Chess Maniac is playing up the disruption of his plan caused by the replacement of Captain Lucha so soon before the match. It's almost like he and Death's Head aren't clicking up until the half way point of the match. The duo isolate American Flash in their corner and put the boots to him. Captain Lucha takes the hot tag and runs wild on both members of Brain & Brawn until Death's Head cuts him off with a massive shoulder tackle. It's enough to sneak in a tag finisher and pick up the victory for the thinking man and his muscle. --=ANGLE=-- The show leaves the ring to a video package. It opens on a shot of a poorly maintained alter with Pablo Rodriguez standing behind it. He's using his left hand to trace words on the book splayed open on the alter while his right hand gestures to follow along with his rambling speech. He speaks in circles about pain, trials and victory. Often he says the name of one of the Forerunners announced at the beginning of the year. The camera begins to slowly pull back. This pan reveals that El Majestad, Hablador and Hysteria are sitting in the pews of a church just as dilapidated as the alter itself. As it continues to pull out the form of someone VERY large comes into focus and just as it does the shot goes black. Rating : 49 --=MATCH FIVE=-- Dolphin Master vs Snap Dragon Jr vs Rating : 39 | Match Length : 6:32 After the celebration we witnessed last week the commentary team really push hard on how different Dolphin Master is after winning his first match in Lucha Storm. His confidence is on the rise, he's pushing harder in the ring. It's a stunning change according to Dane O'Hara. And, that change leads to him picking up another victory here by pinning Snap Dragon Jr. --=MATCH SIX=-- Texas Tornado vs Aztec Prince vs Rating : 55 | Match Length : 6:33 Snake King is down at ringside as this match gets underway. The crowd isn't sure which of the three men to boo the most but Aztec Prince leans more into the Rudo aspects of his character leaving Texas Tornado feeling like a Technico by comparison. This match seems to be all Texas Tornado but every time he gets a full head of steam, Snake King steps up to distract him or grabs a foot under the ropes. They actually get the crowd believing that Aztec Prince is going to steal this one, but Texas Tornado knocks Snake King off the apron, delivers a Texano Bomb and picks up the win. --=ANGLE=-- Texas Tornado's arm is raised in victory and he begins to play to the crowd. Snake King slides in the ring behind him and delivers a drop kick to his back. Texas Tornado is stunned in the corner when Snake King dives on him and begins delivering repeated elbows. He keeps him down long enough for Aztec Prince to make it back to his feet. The members of Royalty continue their assault with a two on one advantage. Snake King drags Tornado to the center of the ring to deliver the Snake-Bite. Texas Tornado stumbles backward and doubles over. Aztec Prince delivers a trio of powerbombs to leave him laying flat. Royalty wipe their feet, kicking dust onto Texas Tornado before leaving the ring to a massive boo from the crowd. When Texas Tornado eventually makes it to his feet the crowd cheer him. Rating : 39 --=MAIN EVENT=-- El Jaguar / Tigre Salvaje Jr / Amo Del Gato vs Amazing Fire Fly / Caro Lucha Man / Pumpkin Jack vs Rating : 70 | Match Length : 9:47 This crowd is on fire after the assault of Texas Tornado and it shows when WyldStyle step out onto the entrance ramp as a unit for the first time. The chorus of boos drowns out their entrance music as they make their way to the ring. The Technicos come out one at a time, gathering up at the bottom of the ramp. The last of them is Pumpkin Jack who receives a heroes welcome to the ring. The six men put up a dazzling performance that ends with Amazing Fire Fly picking up the pin against Tigre Salvaje Jr. --------------------------------------------------------------------- --=BACKSTAGE EVENTS AND HAPPENINGS=-- Goldenrod continues to be out of control. If his streak of bad behavior continues, he's going to be looking for new contracts outside the company. For now, he's picking fights with fans outside the venue repeatedly and a fine didn't reign him in. So, I've got to step up the punishment. He's going to sit at home for the next 30 days in timeout. Snap Dragon Jr is likewise a continued issue. This week he damaged a SECOND rental car. This time that vehicle was being rented by Carion. He's been ordered to pay for the damages with another fine but no more funny business is going to be tolerated from Junior. He may not have the best skills on the microphone but his recent turn to the dark side has the crowd eating out of the palm of his hands. He makes it clear that he and his new allies are unhappy about Pumpkin Jack showing up to ruin their debut as a group. Clearly, that must have been a fluke as Jack doesn't belong in Lucha Storm causing problems for the men who built this company from the ground up. "Without outside help, Caro Lucha Man and Amazing Fire Fly would have been reduced to kibble by WyldStyle." - Tigre Salvaje Jr He continues his tirade about Fire Fly and how helpless he would be to stop them if it wasn't for Jack and the other misfits from half way around the world. Unfortunately, he goes on long enough that Amazing Fire Fly gets tired of listening to him and makes his way down to the ring. The two men have a quick battle of words. "How about we find out how helpless I am? Tonight! Amazing Fire Fly versus Tigre Salvaje Jr!" - Amazing Fire Fly "Tonight? You're joking! Tonight the Jungle Cats are going to DECIMATE Royalty. You and I will have our battle, but not tonight. Tonight is for celebrating." - Tigre Salvaje Jr Rating : 55 --=OPENING MATCH=-- Komodo Dragon vs Wild Turkey vs Rating : 25 | Match Length : 6:33 Wild Turkey makes his Lucha Storm debut and the fans are not into it. They don't have the same hatred for him that they did Young Justice, but his shtick isn't over. It's going to take a lot of work between him and the creative team to turn this around. Komodo Dragon on the other hand looked to be improving. His time with El Brillante seems to be doing wonders for him. This is a fairly standard match for Lucha Storm and Komodo Dragon comes out the victor. --=ANGLE=-- The lights dim, DIES IRAE begins to play. Pablo Rodriguez walks out to the top of the entrance ramp with a microphone in his hand. He flattens the lapel on his robe while he waits for the crowd to settle down. He hypes up himself and the other members of the Church of Pain, El Majestad, Hablador and Hysteria. Tonight though, the Church is going to introduce Lucha Storm to an unstoppable force of nature. "The Church's own personal Demon!" - Pablo Rodriguez The mountain of a man is six foot, eight inches tall. He towers over Pablo. He uses his natural presence to put fear into the crowd. To get across just how devastating El Demonio Grande is, he will dismantle on of the original members of Los Santos. The Mysterious Saint, Viento Negro, will crumble before the Church of Pain! Rating : 28 --=MATCH TWO==- Viento Negro vs El Demonio Grande vs Rating : 29 | Match Length : 8:03 These two men display an amazing chemistry working off of one another. And, the Great Demon does some great work for his first wrestling match after graduating from a wrestling academy at the beginning of the year. This match is eight minutes of Viento attempting to find a weakness on the monster, using his speed to maneuver himself out of the way of attacks. Until finally the demon catches up to him and flattens him. The Church of Pain picks up a win. --=MATCH THREE=-- Cyclops vs Papa Grande vs Rating : 28 | Match 4:53 This match barely gets underway before the two are throwing everything they have at each other. Papa Grande is doing everything in his power to not become the next victim of Cyclops' rampages through the locker room. It's mayhem at ringside as the go to war. Papa Grande gets taken out by a massive powerbomb onto the announcer's desk. The referee and several staff members come to check on Papa and slow the match down but this sends Cyclops into a frenzy. He leaves the arena entirely causing a count out loss to Papa Grande who barely manages to crawl back into the ring. The fans hated it. And that's okay. --=ANGLE=-- The show cuts to Dane O'Harra and Madman Boone standing behind the shattered remains of the announce table. While the ring is cleared and Papa Grande makes back to his feet they talk a little about Blue Phantom's injury at the hands of Cyclops. Dane touches his headset and nods. "Ladies and Gentlemen, I've received word that Cyclops has continued his attacks backstage. Several members of our road crew seem to have been injured alongside Goldenrod. Unfortunately, Goldenrod was intended to compete in our next match and he's not going to be able to." - Dane O'Hara "El Tona better start finding himself a new partner quick because that match is now!" - Madman Boone Rating : 50 --=MATCH FOUR=-- Brain & Brawn vs El Tona and Deadly Deadshot vs Rating : 52 | Match Length : 10:29 El Tona makes his way to the ring only to be joined by Lucha Storm's resident mercenary. They seem to work fairly well as a team, giving Chess Maniac and Death's Head a solid match. Without Goldenrod in the ring to slow him down, El Tona gets to shine here. This may be the best rated match he's had in Lucha Storm. The team experience of Chess Maniac and Death's Head does give them an edge. But, it's made clear in the storytelling that they hadn't prepared for Deadly Deadshot to be in the ring tonight. All of Chess Maniac's tricks were prepared for Goldenrod. So, it takes them longer than usual to find the win. --=MATCH FIVE=-- El Majestad vs Caro Lucha Man vs Rating : 51 | Match Length : 6:04 El Majestad's entire demeanor has changed in his entrance. It's clear that he's no longer the leader of a faction but a follower of Pablo Rodriguez and whatever dark spirit is manifesting in him. Pablo is at ringside directing the action. There is a lot of history between Caro Lucha Man and El Majestad that gets drug up to the forefront in this match with call back spots and scouting that comes from multiple matches against one another. The middle of the match is plagued by an appearance from Tigre Salvaje Jr who comes in and wipes out Caro Lucha Man while Pablo distracts the referee. This is the turning point of the match and El Majestad takes over with a brutal assault as Tigre leaves through a hateful crowd. It takes time and a single mistake for Caro Lucha Man to mount a heroic comeback. He digs deep and manages to overcome El Majestad in the center of the ring, forcing him to tap out. --=ANGLE=-- We cut away to Texas Tornado sitting in the locker room, he's unwrapping his wrist tape. His head is hung as he begins talking about Snake King and Aztec Prince. He considers their attack on him just the repercussion of all the negative karma he's built up in his lifetime. He's been acting in bad faith for a long time now and it's lead him down the wrong path. He makes it clear that he's going to prove himself to be an example of what a True Texan should be. "I'm not perfect and I never will be. But, I can be better. I WILL be better. I'm going to be the Texas Tornado all of the Lucha Storm fans deserve!" - Texas Tornado Rating : 47 --=MAIN EVENT=-- Royalty vs Jungle Cats vs Rating : 59 | Match Length : 12:35 The crowd is excited for another match up between these two teams. All of last year they battled for a spot at the top of the Duos division. All of that spite and hatred is on display. Despite both teams leaning heavily into Rudo tactics, they are able to make it work. Snake King and Aztec Prince manage to isolate Amo Del Gato and force the fans to build slight sympathy for him when they do their signature constant corner tags. El Jaguar makes the heroic save but is cut off by Snake King with a massive lariat. Just when it looks like the Jungle Cats are going to climb back into this one, Caro Lucha Man's music hits and he walks out onto the entrance ramp. The crowd erupts into cheers. Amo Del Gato walks to the ropes and calls him down to the ring. Aztec Prince finds his footing, spins Amo Del Gato around and delivers a Trio of Powerbombs. Snake King rips El Jaguar off the apron and tosses him into the ringside barrier. Royalty pick up another win over the Jungle Cats. --=ANGLE=-- The show fades to a solid white screen. Gold rays flicker and then we slowly fade up on the Idol of Forerunner Totec. It's sitting on a stone pedestal in a cave dimly lit by flickering torches. The shuffle of approaching feet herald the arrival of El Brillante. He emerges from around the corner covered in dirt and grime as if he had been walking through jungles and delving in caves to find this spot. He walks up to the idol and places his hands on it. The screen flashes a brilliant gold for a half second to hid a jump cut. Suddenly, El Brillante's costume has more frills. He's wearing a gold and black shoulder and chest armor with a cape hanging from the back. He hoists the idol from its platform and holds it over his head. "The future is BRILLIANT!" - El Brillante Rating : 44 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --=BACKSTAGE EVENTS AND HAPPENINGS=-- Chris Caulfield has taken Sidewinder on as a protégé. The two were seen working on promos. Caro Lucha Man seems to be a little jealous of the extra attention and had a heated argument with Chris before the show. Barry Kingman stepped in to separate the two and Caro almost became physical with Barry as will. And, heated arguments continue backstage as in the aftermath, Amo Del Gato and Dolphin Master had to be separated. El Brillante is currently working with 12 students in his role as head trainer. Young Justice, not landing with the Lucha Storm crowd, has been sent on an excursion to Mexico where he will work with some of his peers in EMLL. I'm sure this will help....
