MACW Monday Nitro Alumni Hall. Annapolis, Maryland Monday Week 1 April 1983 Attendance: 5,000 Overall Rating: B Rating: 64,146 Last Night's Main Event! Highlights of the Ric Flair/Larry Zbyszko match opened the show, showcasing the interference by J.J. Dillon and Arn Anderson that led to Ric Flair recapturing the NWA World Heavyweight Title. =A+ A New Challenger? As the show opened inside the Alumni Hall, the music of Ric Flair was playing. J.J. Dillon led Flair and Arn Anderson out toward the ring with the Nature Boy strutting his stuff, proudly wearing the NWA World Heavyweight Title belt around his waist. Flair took the microphone and talked about how he did EXACTLY what he said he was going to do last night. He whipped Larry Zbyszko's ass and walked away as the new NWA World Heavyweight Champion. The Nature Boy was booed from the get-go and started talking to the crowd, telling them they couldn't even lace the Nature Boy's boots. Each and every one of them knows that he is the greatest to have ever lived. =C+ Flair's speech was interrupted by the arrival of Ricky Steamboat! Flair asked Steamboat what he was doing down here. After all, Steamboat LOST his match last night at World War 3. Steamboat said he had a few questions for Flair with the first one being: has Ric Flair lost his mind??? Steamboat said that it's a dark day for wrestling when Ric Flair would associate with men like J.J. Dillon and Arn Anderson. It's quite a shame for Flair to ruin his legacy like this. =A Flair was incensed! He smacked Steamboat across the mouth and Steamboat laid into him with a punch! But Steamboat was sucker-punched by the Enforcer! Arn and Flair laid into Steamboat with boots to the chest, kicking a fallen Dragon. The Enforcer raised Steamboat up, holding his arms back and Flair took the time to chop the bare chest of Ricky Steamboat several times, dancing around the ring before delivering one more to send Steamboat to the ground. =B But the crowd cheered as Magnum T.A. came running out to the ring with a chair in hand! Flair, Double A and J.J. took off as Magnum swung the chair, hitting the ropes with it! Magnum stood over Steamboat, glaring at Flair and Arn. =B- Match 1
Midnight Express vs. Rufus R. Jones and Bugsy McGraw It was the debut of the Midnight Express, Bobby Eaton and Dennis Condrey, here in the Mid-Atlantic region along with their manager Jim Cornette. They were facing two grizzled in-ring veterans in the Freight Train Rufus R. Jones and Bugsy McGraw. The match went about what one might expect for the debut of a new tag team here with the Express using constant double-team moves and their cheating style to maintain a strong advantage over both Rufus and Bugsy. Bobby Eaton got the pinfall on Bugsy with what he calls the Alabama Jam: a legdrop off the top turnbuckle. Midnight Express b. Rufus R. Jones and Bugsy McGraw =C-
A Former Champion Speaks Fans were greeted to a speech from Larry Zbyszko next. He was greeted with a mixed reaction from the fans since after last night they weren't sure how to react. The Living Legend talked about how he was put through a grueling encounter of 60 minutes against 3 men last night. But he's going to be the better man for it. He's not planning on resting until the NWA World Heavyweight Title is back around his waist. =A Match 2
Mark Youngblood vs. Larry Zbyszko The Living Legend went from a backstage interview to heading down to the ring to take on Mark Youngblood. We learned during this match that another match has been signed to be the main event of the evening: Magnum T.A. and Ricky Steamboat teaming together to face Ric Flair and Arn Anderson. Zbyszko completely dominated this match against the younger Youngblood. He picked up the win with his usual Sleeperhold submission move. Larry Zbyszko b. Mark Youngblood =B-
Still The Champ The cameras moved backstage to show Greg Valentine with the U.S. strap over his shoulder. He looked into the camera and proclaimed that even after facing 3 seperate wrestlers last night, he is STILL the United States Champion. He is so confident right now that he's going to head to the ring and he'll let the first person to step out get a shot at his U.S. Title. =B+ Match 3
U.S. Title On The Line Greg Valentine vs. Jay Youngblood Valentine's challenge was met by the talented Jay Youngblood! The two men met in the center of the ring and exchanged punches for chops. Back and forth the two men battled in the early-goings. Valentine finally took advantage with a thumb to the eye and then went to work on the leg of Jay Youngblood. He stomped on the knee, setting it up on the ring ropes and dropping on it. Then he made the mistake of pulling Youngblood over and going outside to ram Youngblood's knee against the ring post. Out of the crowd came...Roddy Piper! Piper looked furious still about what happened last night! Piper sledged Valentine from behind, causing the referee to call for the bell. Greg Valentine b. Jay Youngblood =B
After the match, Piper kept on the attack, ramming Valentine's head against the ringpost and busting open the U.S. Champ! Valentine fought back and the two men fought back up the rampway and disappeared behind the curtain. =A+ Still Not Done Hulk Hogan was shown in the backstage interview area, sporting his red and yellow Hulkamania t-shirt as well as waving a tiny American flag to cheers from the audience. Hulk talked about how he defeated Khrusher Kruschev last night but how there are STILL two dudes out there talking trash about America. That's right, Koloffs, he's talking to you, brothers. Hulk told the world that he's not through with them yet. Soon they would learn the power of America and they would know that Hulkamania will not die! All the Hulkamaniacs bleed red, white and blue, brothers. So, Ivan, Nikita, whatcha gonna do? WHATCHA GONNA DO??? When the power of Hulkamania runs wild over you?!?! =B Match 4
The Koloffs vs. The Southern Boys This match would see the debut of the Southern Boys(Tracy Smothers and Steve Armstrong) here in MACW and they picked the wrong guys to debut against. The Koloffs were not in an especially good mood after hearing what Hulk Hogan had to say. They decided to take it out on their opponents, demolishing them like they did the Midnight Rockers last night! Smothers and Armstrong did not even have a chance in this match as the Koloffs bloodied Armstrong early and tossed him out and then had their way with Smothers, busting him wide open and nailing a pair of Russian Sickles! Ivan finished the match with his Russian Bear Hug submission. The Koloffs b. The Southern Boys =C+
Mid-Atlantic Title Changes Hands A video played of last night's match between Harley Race and Paul Orndorff. Race, of course, finished the match with his usual Piledriver and came away the new Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion. =A Match 5
Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title On The Line Harley Race(c) vs. Angelo Mosca Jr. Mosca Jr. is definitely no Paul Orndorff. While he may have some of his father's talent, he is still much too green to even battle against the Mid-Atlantic Champion. Bob and Bobby took a few moments during this match to discuss the health issues plaguing Paul Orndorff with his neck injury. They cannot be sure when he's going to be coming back but they know he will be looking for Harley Race when he does. Meanwhile in the ring Race finished off the match with his Piledriver to defend the title for the first time. Harley Race b. Angelo Mosca Jr. =C
Bloody Pulp! Bob Caudle and Bobby Heenan were both surprised to find the cameras out in the parking lot of the arena. But what it showed was that Roddy Piper and Greg Valentine were still fighting! Piper tossed Valentine on top of a car and began choking him. Valentine was bleeding like a stuck pig from a large gash on his forehead. Piper just smiled at the way he was treating the Hammer. Finally a bunch of officials came over and broke things up with Piper yelling at Valentine that he will get his. =A+ Match 6
Ric Flair and Arn Anderson vs. Ricky Steamboat and Magnum T.A. Ric and Arn were, of course, accompanied to the ring by James J. Dillon AND the NWA World Heavyweight Title. Ricky and Magnum came out alone. Magnum T.A. started the match with Flair and the mind games began when Flair dodged a tieup and began his usual strutting to boos from the crowd. They locked up again and Flair tied Magnum into a side headlock, turning him away from the referee and adding in several punches to the head. Flair brought Magnum over to the corner and tagged out to the Enforcer, holding Magnum wide open for a few stiff shots to the gut by Arn. Anderson and Flair used frequent tags to keep Magnum in their corner, cheating whenever possible and using Steamboat to distract the referee by taunting him to come into the ring. Arn focused on Magnum's back while Flair focused on his legs. Arn made a costly mistake though by lowering his head too soon when Magnum came bouncing off the ropes. Magnum grabbed him quickly and dropped the Enforcer in a DDT! Both men were down with referee Tommy Young counting them out. The crowd cheered on Magnum and booed when Anderson tagged in Flair. But the boos were changed into cheers as Steamboat was tagged in and Flair begged off! Steamboat came in and laid into Flair with a chop and then a clothesline. He clotheslined Anderson off the apron to the floor, turning around into a rake of the eyes by Flair! Flair grabbed Steamboat's knee and lifted him quickly, dropping him down knee to knee! Flair quickly turned that toward the Figure 4 but Steamboat reversed it into an inside cradle for a 2 count! Both men popped up and Steamboat hit Flair with an inverted atomic drop! A chop sent the Nature Boy down and Steamboat was headed to the top turnbuckle in a neutral corner. J.J. jumped on the apron but Magnum T.A. came running across the ring and pulled Dillon inside to cheers from the crowd while Steamboat steadied himself on the top turnbuckle! Flair rose to his feet and turned...Flying Body Press from Steamboat! He made the cover! 1...2...Magnum beat Arn to the punch, keeping him away...3! Ricky Steamboat has PINNED the NWA World Heavyweight Champion! Steamboat and T.A. roll outside the ring, holding their hands up in victory while a stunned Ric Flair looks on in shock as the cameras fade to black. Ricky Steamboat and Magnum T.A. b. Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling John H. Lewis Gym. Atlanta, Georgia Wednesday Week 1 April 1983 Attendance: 2,000 Overall Rating: B Rating: 88,219 Last Main Event A video package aired showing highlights of last Monday's main event when Ricky Steamboat teamed up with Magnum T.A. to take on Ric Flair and Arn Anderson. Steamboat, of course, stunned the NWA World Heavyweight Champion by getting a clean pinfall win over him. =B Rolling Train Jim Cornette led an interview segment to kick off the backstage portion of the show talking about the Midnight Express' match against the Youngbloods tonight. He talks about how the Youngbloods may have been around MACW for awhile but the Midnight Express is going to roll through town and just like his momma says they are gonna beat you down. =C
Midnight Express vs. The Youngbloods Jim Cornette led his Midnight Express direct to the ring where the Youngbloods were waiting on them. The match started off as a 4-way brawl between all 4 men with the Youngbloods taking the advantage and sending the Midnight Express to the outside to regroup with Cornette. Mark Youngblood started the match off with Dennis Condrey. Condrey and Eaton used quick tags to isolate Mark in their corner and work over him with double team moves. The match actually didn't last long with Jay Youngblood not even being tagged in! Bobby Eaton made the pin on Mark after the Alabama Jam. Midnight Express b. The Youngbloods =C+
Challenge After the ring was cleared, the crowd rose up in boos as the music for Ric Flair began to play and he was escorted to the ring by James J. Dillon and Arn Anderson. Flair got on the microphone and started things off by insulting the fans and their intelligence and talking about being the dirtiest player in the game. He was interrupted by the appearance of Ricky Steamboat! A huge crowd pop for the Dragon as Steamboat walked down to the ring and issued a challenge for Flair for the NWA World Heavyweight Title! Flair backed off, stating that Steamboat does not DESERVE a title shot. But he'll give him a chance to prove himself. Tonight, if Steamboat picks up a win tonight against Ric's Enforcer, Arn Anderson then maybe he'll be considered for a title shot. =B+
Hercules Hernandez vs. Angelo Mosca Jr. Hercules made his in-ring debut here tonight as he took on Angelo Mosca Jr. The younger Mosca was easily outmatched and overpowered by Hercules, who walked down to the ring with a heavy steel chain around his neck. After a few moments of Hercules tossing Mosca around, Hercules tossed Mosca over the top rope and stood in the ring while Mosca Jr. was counted out. Hercules Hernandez b. Angelo Mosca Jr. =F
Appreciating An Injury Backstage, Harley Race could be seen holding the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title. Harley was all smiles, stating to the camera that he is proud of defeating Paul Orndorff at World War 3 and winning the Mid-Atlantic Title. He also stated that if Paul Orndorff is a man, he will face him this Monday night at Monday Nitro. Harley even stated he will put the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title on the line. =B+
Roddy Piper vs. Larry Zbyszko Last Monday, Roddy Piper brawled all over the Alumni Hall with Greg Valentine. Larry Zbyszko is trying to really get back on the winning track after losing the NWA World Title back to Ric Flair. Both men came into this match with something to prove. Piper dominated the early-goings to cheers from the crowd but Zbyszko fought back, using eye-rakes and the ringpost on the outside to gain the advantage. Both men caught several near-falls during this time period. Piper regained the advantage, though and had Zbyszko locked in the sleeperhold. Larry was fading fast when Piper released the hold. Why did he release the hold? He was nailed in the back of the head with a steel chair by Greg Valentine! Valentine stood tall over Piper, sneering down at him as the referee called for the bell. Roddy Piper b. Larry Zbyszko =A+
A Fallen Hero? The cameras moved quickly backstage to find Hulk Hogan lying on the ground unconcious! He was bleeding from his nose and mouth. Several officials were on the scene, stating that they didn't know what happened and that EMTs are needed. =A
Arn Anderson vs. Ricky Steamboat This match was set-up earlier tonight when Ricky Steamboat challenged Ric Flair. Flair stated to Steamboat that in order to get an NWA World Title shot he would have to go through the Enforcer. Both J.J. Dillon and Ric Flair stood at ringside in Arn's corner. The two top athletes stared each other down from opposite corners until the bell rung. Then it was a little circling before they locked up and Steamboat backed Anderson into the corner. Arn raised his arms up, calling for a clean break from Steamboat. Steamboat tried to give in to that but Arn grabbed him suddenly and turned him into the corner, hammering him with rights and lefts but Steamboat fought back! Steamboat backed Arn down with chops, a third one sending Anderson to the ground and rolling to the outside! Arn definitely looked upset as he walked around and spoke with J.J. Dillon and Ric Flair at ringside, using the referee's count before sliding inside again. Arn approached Steamboat and they locked up again with Arn turning Steamboat into a headlock. He wrenched in the hold as Steamboat backed the Enforcer into the ropes and then shot him off to the opposite side. Steamboat dropped down and Arn jumped over him. Arn came off the ropes and Steamboat leapfrogged over him before turning back around as Arn came off one more time and Steamboat dropped Arn in an armdrag turned into an armbar. Steamboat wrenched the hold in while Arn cried out in pain. The referee asked Arn several times if he wanted to give up but Arn declined. It took a few moments but Arn slowly began to pull toward his feet, turning toward the ropes. He grabbed Steamboat by the trunks and flung him through the ropes to the outside, breaking the hold in the process. Arn rolled his shoulder a little as he got to his feet and distracted the referee while Flair put the boots to Steamboat on the outside! Flair lifted Steamboat and tossed him back inside the ring to boos from the crowd. Arn looked around, smiling and pulled Steamboat up to his feet, whipping him across the ropes. Steamboat came back and was drilled by an Anderson Spinebuster for a 2-count! Arn argued with the referee, saying the count was slow but the referee wouldn't budge. The Enforcer went back on the attack for several minutes, finally locking in a sleeperhold, drawing Steamboat down toward the mat. It looked like Steamboat was fading! The referee raised his arm once and got no response. He raised the arm twice and got no response. He raised it a third time and Steamboat kept his arm raised as chants of 'Steamboat, Steamboat' echoed through the crowd in Atlanta! Outside the ring, J.J. and Flair tried to stop the chants, waving at the fans to stop but Steamboat rallied to his feet and fired an elbow shot into the gut of the Enforcer. A second one nearly broke the hold and Steamboat turned the hold into a back body drop, sending both Anderson and Steamboat to the mat. The referee began the mandatory ten count as both men lay there barely moving. At about three, Steamboat was on his knees, using the ropes to help himself up. At 6, Steamboat made it to his feet, stopping the count. He helped Arn the rest of the way up and whipped him into the corner. Steamboat followed him in and climbed up, holding a fist up for a moment before hammering blows onto the forehead of the Enforcer as the crowd counted along all the way to ten. Steamboat jumped down and Arn slumped slightly into the turnbuckle. The Dragon grabbed Arn quickly and hooked him in a front facelock, delivering a cradle suplex for a two count only. Steamboat motioned to the turnbuckles and slipped out, beginning to mount to the top as Arn was slow to get to his feet. Ric Flair walked over and climbed onto the apron, pushing Steamboat off the top turnbuckle to the mat on his knee, causing a DQ! Ricky Steamboat b. Arn Anderson =B+
Ric Flair rolled inside the ring and began putting the boots to the back of Steamboat's left knee, grabbing his leg and raising it up before slamming it down to the mat. Arn made the cutthroat gesture and grabbed Steamboat, preparing for the DDT when the crowd cheered as Magnum T.A. came running down to the ring with a wooden folding chair in hand! Magnum slid inside the ring and went after Anderson but Flair clipped him from behind! Magnum dropped the chair and went to the mat, grabbing his knee and Anderson finished the DDT on Steamboat! Flair gave a 'Whooo' to a booing crowd as he locked the Figure 4 Leglock on Magnum T.A.! Flair grabbed the top rope and used it for leverage, listening to a screaming Magnum as his legs were tortured with the Figure 4! Anderson stomped on the prone body of T.A., grabbing the wooden folding chair that Magnum had brought to the ring and cracking it down on the knee of Steamboat! Flair finally released the hold and Flair and Anderson and J.J. Dillon were all smiles inside the ring, raising each other's arms as the show went off the air. =B+

Steamboat, of course, stunned the NWA World Heavyweight Champion by getting a clean pinfall win over him. =B Rolling Train Jim Cornette led an interview segment to kick off the backstage portion of the show talking about the Midnight Express' match against the Youngbloods tonight.
This match could have been subtitled 'Midnight' since both teams have it in their name but there wasn't anything sleepy about this one. It was a fast-paced match that saw both teams hold their share of the advantage. During the match, Bobby Heenan announced that if the Midnight Express win that these two teams will face off at Spring Stampede for the Midnight Rockers' United States Tag Team Titles. That was perhaps a bit of foreshadowing because Bobby Eaton DID get the pin on Marty Jannetty after some well-timed tennis racket swinging by Jim Cornette. The Midnight Express b. Orndorff was wearing a neckbrace and said that tonight he plans on coming into the ring and fighting Harley Race even though the doctors told him that he shouldn't wrestle tonight. Tonight, he will not even take the moniker of Mr. Wonderful. Tonight, he is just Paul Orndorff and looking for a fight. =B
Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title On The Line Harley Race(c) vs. Paul Orndorff Starting the match off, Harley Race slapped Orndorff across the face, enraging his opponent! Orndorff said he came to fight and he meant it, slamming punch after punch into the forehead of Harley Race. The strong Mr. Wonderful dominated the early-goings of the match, much to the surprise of Race and the fans at ringside. The tide turned when Race hit Orndorff in the neck and then it was Race's turn to dominate. Race ripped the neckbrace off Orndorff's neck and turned his focus there. Bob Caudle quickly was calling for the referee to stop the match as he saw the pain Orndorff was in but of course the referee couldn't hear him. Race spiked Orndorff's neck down with a Piledriver and then climbed the top rope and dropped the Swan Dive Headbutt, making a quick cover and a successful defense of his Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title. Harley Race b. Paul Orndorff =B+
Following the match, EMTs came down to ringside and slowly began loading Orndorff on the stretcher. Bob Caudle commented that Orndorff wrestling tonight may have ended his career. The stretcher was being taken up the entrance when Harley Race came over and held the Mid-Atlantic belt up in Orndorff's face, taunting him. He backed off, seemingly walking away but came back and hit Orndorff in the head with the belt, sending him off the stretcher! Race mounted Orndorff and pummeled him down onto the ramp until security came out and broke it up. =A
Rufus R. Jones vs. Sgt. Double A said that he will take care of Magnum if Valentine can get Piper. They all agreed to it and turned as though heading out toward the ring. =B+ Ready For Tonight Too After moving from Flair, Anderson and Valentine, the cameras caught up with Ricky Steamboat, Magnum T.A. and Roddy Piper. Piper led the strategy session, saying that he wants to get his hands on Valentine no matter what the cost. He said that he's had some issues with Steamboat in the past and won't hesitate to punch him if he gets in his way before storming out of the backstage area. Magnum and Ricky looked at each other, shrugged and followed. =B+
Ric Flair, Arn Anderson and Greg Valentine vs. Ricky Steamboat, Magnum T.A. and Roddy Piper Flair, Anderson and Valentine were the first three to make their entrances, accompanied by James J. Dillon. Piper led the charge with his teammates following behind him. He rolled inside the ring and Valentine climbed out! Piper gave chase and around the ring they went! Flair slid outside the ring and sneak-attacked Piper from behind with a forearm shot! Piper staggered forward and then rose, turning toward Flair and just looking at him. Flair's eyes widened and he turned, rolling inside the ring where he came face-to-face with Ricky Steamboat! The bell finally sounded and Flair dropped to his knees, begging off from Steamboat! Steamboat looked to the crowd for a moment and then turned back to Flair, who poked him in the eye! Flair pushed Steamboat back into the corner and began with the knife-edge chops, reddening the chest of his Spring Stampede opponent. Flair tagged out to Double A and the two hit a couple of double-team moves on Steamboat before Anderson took over. Anderson maintained an advantage with a few cheap holds, including choking Steamboat on the ropes. Anderson tagged in Valentine and Valentine went to work on the knee of the Dragon. Valentine taunted Piper, who tried to come in but was stopped by the official! Valentine and Flair hit a double-team move on the knee of Steamboat behind the referee's back and Flair was tagged back in moments later. Flair took the time to strut across the ring and then lifted Steamboat, who punched him in the gut. Flair fought back by raking the eyes of the Dragon. Flair whipped the Dragon into the ropes and came back with a sleeperhold! The Dragon was quickly fading in the hold as Magnum tried to rally the crowd behind his friend. Steamboat's arm dropped once...it dropped twice...but it stayed up the third time! Steamboat used the momentum of the crowd to push to his feet and gave Flair an elbow to the gut and then a backdrop! Both men lie on the ground in pain as the crowd chanted 'Steamboat, Steamboat!' Slowly they each began moving toward their corners. Who would make the tag? Flair got the tag to Valentine...Steamboat tagged in Piper! Valentine's eyes went wide as he backed off in the corner! Piper charged and Valentine moved at the last second! He turned Piper in the corner and started punching him to no effect! Piper kicked Valentine in the gut and turned things around, punching away at the Hammer in the corner! He cleared Flair and Anderson out of that corner and whipped Valentine across the ring! Piper charged and hit Valentine with a clothesline splash in the corner! Valentine staggered out and Piper locked in the Sleeper! Anderson and Flair came in but so did Magnum and Steamboat! A brawl began inside the ring with Flair and Steamboat, Magnum and Anderson and Valentine fading in the Sleeper! Magnum and Anderson spilled to the outside while Flair got the advantage on Steamboat by going to the knee! Valentine's hand went down once...twice...and then Flair broke the hold with a kick to the head of Piper! Flair hit a punch on Piper that seemed to knock his lights out! Flair grabbed Valentine and dragged him over to the corner, sliding outside the ring and making the tag after putting something in his trunks! Bob Caudle noted that it was brass knuckles and could be clearly seen on the monitor! Flair made the tag in and went inside the ring, pushing Steamboat onto the apron and making Piper's hand tag him in! Flair rolls a downed Steamboat into the ring and locks in a small package. It couldn't end like this could it? 1......2.....3! Flair wins it over Steamboat for his team! Ric Flair, Arn Anderson and Greg Valentine b.
Rufus R. Jones vs. Sgt. Slaughter Slaughter hasn't been seen in quite awhile but made his return here tonight facing Rufus. This match lasted about as long as anyone would expect it to with Sgt. Slaughter dominating most of the bout. He was able to pick up the submission win with his Cobra Clutch. Sgt. Slaughter b. Rufus R. Jones =C-
Ready For Tonight Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Greg Valentine and J.J. Dillon were all seen within the back talking over strategy. Flair told them that he wants Steamboat tonight. He wants to prove why Steamboat should NOT be getting the title shot at Spring Stampede.
Ricky Steamboat, Magnum T.A. and Roddy Piper
After the match, the brawl continued on the outside and up the entrance between Anderson and T.A. Flair and Valentine continued beating up on their respective rivals as the show came to a close. =B+

NWA World Heavyweight Title On The Line Ric Flair(c) vs. Hulk Hogan The NWA World Heavyweight Champion was accompanied to the ring by James J. Dillon and his Enforcer Arn Anderson. Hulk Hogan came out by himself to a huge ovation from the crowd. Hogan used the momentum from the crowd to start things off hot and heavy against the Nature Boy. He landed punch after punch and body slam after body slam on Flair. Flair quickly rolled out of the ring to regroup and speak with Dillon and Anderson. After a few moments, Flair returned to the ring and gained a quick advantage with a rake to the eyes and several chops against the strong chest of Hogan. Flair then dropped and began working on the right knee of his larger opponent, bringing Hogan down to the mat and stomping on that knee. He placed it on the bottom rope, leapt and dropped down on that knee, getting a wince from Hogan in pain. Flair continued to work over the knee, strutting along the ring at times and really getting the fans angry at him. He even used Arn Anderson to help him while distracting the referee. Late in the match, Flair locked in a kneebar and had Hogan down and hurting. But Hogan would not submit so Flair released the hold and went for a pin. At a two count, Hogan powered out of it and began shaking his head and body. Flair punched him as Hogan no-sold, rising to his feet.
