O.O.C. I've been trying to be patient and wait till 2007 comes out, and as much as I enjoy reading the many diaries here, I just cant wait any longer, so what I give you is the long/detailed backstory for what is to come when I get my hands on TEW 2007 and of course the real life mod "F.O.R.C."
How it all comes about January 2006 I'm preparing my resume for a new job in a few short days, that will eventually give me the oppurtunity to do what I've always wanted to do.. But first, let me mention a little bit about my personal history: I am a 35 years old, who has spent the better part of the past 8 years in media sales...Beginning in radio and moving into television, I have relocated repeatedly to several markets over those 8 years...Beginning in Syracuse, NY on to Charlotte, NC, to Shreveport, LA to Houston, TX and back to upstate NY...Prior to that, I managed several nightclubs in upstate, NY region..I'm proud of the resume that have built, I tend to think it's pretty extensive in sales and promotions and yet despite my modest credentials, I have this hobby, that just drives me, that just fuels my energy and that hobby is professional wrestling... I have even dabbled in promoting wrestling, back in the day I promoted several wrestling events at the nightclubs I ran...When in NC, I even trained to be a wrestler with legendary NWA "enhancement man" George South and then promoted several events there, with his aid...Since then I have became more focused on being a fan..I've built an extensive tape/dvd library...I've attended as many wrestling events as possible and have journeyed to many wrestling legends conventions, getting the chance to speak to many "old-school" wrestlers. Their stories have changed my perspective, my taste has soured on sports entertainment and I have become an ambassador to myself and friends, preaching the old-school era of wrestling.. Little did I know that my up-coming job interview in Stamford, Connecticut, would begin and coincide with a series of events that would allow for me to live out my dreams and promote my passion in the world of professional wrestling!

February 2006 February 2006 Off to my job interview in Stamford, Connecticut...NO, it's NOT with the WWE, but rather with a cable television network based out of the same area...The Network itself is lloking to change their format a bit and I'm applying as a marketing/sales executive...We got a little into my background and even my love for wrestling came up and even for a moment became a focal point in the interview process...It went very well and I'm hoping to recieve an offer within the next few days.. In the meantime I was off to another wrestling fanfest in Baltimore, Maryland...The highlight of my trip was I actually got time to meet and speak with Jim Cornette...He asked me, "What about todays wrestling product really irks me the most"...I went on a passionate tirade, that even Jim Cornette himself was speechless...I mentioned how, I hate how the era of kayfabe has ended, how storylines, don't make sense, go unfinished and unexplained and how fans are just supposed to play dumb to it. Where is the attention to detail, where is the protecting the business, where is there an alternative...Cornette turned my attention to Ring Of Honor, of which I admitted I am a fan...Its got alot of detail and great athletic action, but I told Cornette, how I miss, the simplicity of wrestling when we'd see a 5 minute build-up to a punch in the jaw and the way it was sold and the way they build it back in the day would send the crowd into a frenzy...Cornette, stated, "That the wrestling fan has become so desensitized to this nowadays, that the expectation is to continue to give them more, when in fact it may actually be less, that actually gives them more, but the WWE writers don't see this." He mentioned I should pick up a copy of a shoot interview which he did with Bill Watts for ROH...I dropped $20 and took my copy home. MEANWHILE The powers of the WWE were contemplating their next move...Paul Heyman's contract was up and the threat of him leaving for TNA actually had McMahonland a bit nervous...They were thinking about reviving the ECW and having a 3rd brand...They continued to think up ways to dominate the world of pro wrest...ahem...Sports Entertainment in the mind of the consumers...Perhaps even coming up with 4th brands and 5th brands and WWE 24/7 becoming an actual cable network...Buying up more of wrestling 's history occured with WWE purchasing the video libraries of Championship Wrestling from Florida and World Class...They would own all of todays product and all of wrestling history God Help us all!

March 2006 March 2006 So, where is all this going, you might ask? Well, like a said, a series events have occurred that will bring us to the present day. I was in fact offered the sales/marketing position and have relocated to Stamford, CT, which coincidently is the home of McMahonland, but also the offices of OLN "The Outdoor Life Network" OLN is about to go through with a rebranding and a bit of a format change...I've been very vocal about some ideas that have caught the attention of some of the high up programmers...and yes it does involve pro wrestling.... I've spent some time watching alot of the ROH straight shooting series including Jim Cornette and Bill Watts...I also finally stumbled across youtube and my thirst for old-school wrestling has sort of been quenched with the collection I could find there... Meanwhile TNA is becoming a bigger force with addition of stars like Samoa Joe, austin Aires and debut of Christian Cage...MTV has announced plans to produce their own wrestling program Wrestling Society X...And rumors continue to come out of the WWE of brand extension...How do I know this. Well, while living in Stamford and sitting at a bar waiting for a table at a restaurant, the gentleman sitting next to me looked very recognizable in his cowboy hat. When he turned around, I was right, I happened to be sitting next to good ole JR himself, Jim Ross...I tried to hold back and not disturb him while he was waiting for dinner, but couldn't help myself, so I just extended my hand and said, "Hi, Mr. Ross, I've been a big fan of your work, especially those Mid South broadcasts"... "That was 20 years ago, my friend" he replied..."Well, no disrespect sir, but that was when wrestling was a sport, when it was real for me." I said... "The industry is ever evolving, so some day maybe we'll see that style again." he responded...I was still in disbelief I was having a conversation about wrestling with Jim Ross, that I surprised myself that I could put together coherent conversation..."Well, like the old saying, whats new is old and whats old is new, maybe someday that my generation of lost wrestling souls will have something to root for again..." I replied...To my amazement, JR said, "Quite possible my friend, quite possible and enjoy your dinner" as we were escorted away by the hostess to our table.

April 2006 April 2006 The WWE has iniated their plans for a brand extension as they plan to capitalize on the name of ECW....But, that is not the only brand extension talk going around behind closed doors...While news of the eventual revival of the ECW was leaking, talks continued about a 4th brand extension and that was the revival of World Championship Wrestling...Jim Ross had mentioned how RAW is the main brand of Sports Entertainment and how SmackDown is pretty much the same as raw, with perhaps better wrestling...ECW would cater to hardcore wrestling...but WCW could be, "The return to wrestling the way it was, oldschool wrestling." It was almost like the conversation I had with JR back in that restaurant last month had inspired him to a new way of thinking...well at least thats my story...In reality Ross was looking for more ways to monopolize the wrestling industry. JR approached Vince about recreating WCW to relive perhaps the 80's scene...Ross, who has been off TV, while Joey Styles had taken over the announcing duties with RAW....Vince seemed happy with the idea, that he could own another niche of the wrestling interest, however Ross's idea of 80's included 4 horseman, compelling story telling matches, heated rivalries, Barry Windhams and Magnum TA's, not to mention tag team wrestling...Vince on the other hand was thinking...outlandish characters, rock-n-wrestling, celebrity involvement, Brutus Beefcake, The Mountie's and Akeem the African Dream...The WCW brand revival had stagnated as the powers to be couldn't agree on the direction Meanwhile My new job at OLN had me in meeting after meeting as the direction of their rebranding wanted to emphasize competition....A "Fight Night" with Boxing had been discussed and I thought I could piggyback boxing with some 80's wrestling that hasn't been bought up by McMahon...So, I looked up and put in a call to Bill Watts, who still owned his video library of Mid South Wrestling...I tried to pitch this to network executives...They weren't sold, but they bought into my passion that 80's style of wrestling could fit within their theme of "Competition"

So far I am enjoying this, and have no clue where it's going to end up at (and then start from, lol). There is the possibility of making a new promotion, with the old value's (Traditional), or reviving an Old Promotion in the form of a Brand (WCW). Although it might not be either, this is what one might think is coming, yet there is no definitive reason to believe either is true. A pleasure reading this one so far my friend... "Old School" caught my eye.

 • 2 weeks later...
May 2006 Where, we left off I was working in sales with OLN "Outdoor Life Network"...I had approached Bill Watts about using his library (Not sold to Vince) as a means of programming for OLN...Jim Ross was working with WWE brass about restarting a 4th brand (ECW already in the works) in the return of rasslin with WCW..Vince likes idea, but in a different direction.. MAY 2006 I have had multiple conversations with Bill Watts, regarding using his video library on OLN...Watts was excited about the opportunity and because of such an idea, thought that it could possibly be more lucrative to him instead of selling his library to the WWE...However network executives at OLN were starting to come around to the idea of pro wrestling, but weren't sold about the idea of airing footage that was 20 years old...My next step, would take me into another direction with OLN and would require a good amount of capital on my part to get started, it also required Bill Watts to part ways with his library and it would require me finding some people to help me in my project as I haven't a clue as what to do.. Meanwhile The ECW project was off the ground as Heyman began promoting ECW "One Night Stand" PPV for next month..The brand extension for ECW was in full throttle...Joey Styles made his way off RAW and JR had replaced him...JR was still politicing for the re-brand of WCW...Ross had talked to some developemental wrestlers in OVW he would use for this concept...He talked with Kasey James, CM Punk, Gunner Scott, Aaron Stevens and Elijah Burke, The Highlanders...He talked about a passion for athletic wrestling, and storylines that made more sense and took the time to develope, he talked about creating new characters...However back in Stamford, Connecticut Vince was thinking about using some of the same talent as the next Bastion Boogers, Doink the Clowns, Bushwackers etc...He refused to consider JR's idea, in that he thought that it could possibly take away some viewers from current product, abd Vince thought his concept would bring back more oldschool fans and another niche in the wrestling product, more so than JR's...Ross, was starting to become uncomfortable with the situation and Vince reminded him that his contract was up in October, so if he wanted to make this happen, he better wake up to Vince's concept.

June 2006 JUNE 2006 Network executives at OLN were definately interested in wrestling, when they switch to their new format...They have made it clear to me, that they dont believe that they could sell a product that was 20 years old (Bill Watts old Mid-South Wrestling)...So my new pitch to them, was "Do you think you can sell a professional wrestling promotion based on nostalgia, old-school wrestling values, atleticsim, with an extreme attention to detail in its storylines and one that emphasizes that they are a SPORT, and not sports entertainment." The executives at OLN were interested, but there wasn't a current product that they could use..There was mention of Ring Of Honor, which has all these traits, but they dont seemed interested into spending the money to get on TV..TNA already has a deal with Spike and everything else seemed to low budget, to make it work.. I was so wrapped up into this project, that I was determined to make it go...I called Bill Wats back and told them OLN wasn't interested in using his old product, but would be interested in a new product based on old values...I set up an appointment to meet with him next month...Watts has been out of the business for sometime, he has considered selling his tape library, and for the time being I convinced him NOT to...I told him how much I'd like to use his footage, his titles, his characters and recreate some of his famous angles, after all, whats old is new and there was a whole new generation of wrestling fans who are not familiar with some of the great action he put together in the Mid-South during the early 80's MEANWHILE ECW was under way, while The McMahon empire has signed alot of the old ECW talent (Richards, Sandman, Sabu, Balls, Justin Credible) they had the intentions of promoting a new generation ECW...McMahon was seeking to do the same with a WCW rebrand and NOW the rumor was eric Bischoff would run it...Jim Ross was becoming irrated, that he was being passed over, and he believes it was because he had a different approach...Word started to leak around OVW that Ross had spoken to some of the OVW guys, who were excited about what Ross told them, but Vince has since killed that idea and some of their aspirations...Rumors have begun circulating in the Torch and observer newsletters that Ross was tiring of being Vince's whipping boy and that he was becoming disgruntled in his roll and that Ross has made enough mney in the business to just walk away... July 2006 JULY 2006 I've boarded my flight en route to Oklahoma, to begin a series of meetings with the one and only "Cowboy" Bill Watts...During my flight, the feeling was beginning to sink in that I was going to personally put up all the money I've saved to make a go at running a pro wrestling organization...However, the problem that I face is that I haven't saved a ton of money...I've got close to a hundred grand, but certainly more dough would be needed to make this project work...OLN has made it clear their interested in this project, but their about making money and if they were to put in anything it would be in the form of production costs to promote the programming...This project was going to be either feast or famine for myself as, I've gotten so involved, that I had to go forward Well, here I am, at the estate of the big Cowboy...My intention was to convince Mr. Watts into getting involved financially, but more importantly, to convince him to sell his tape library to me.. How do I convince him to do so, Vince certainly could offer up more money, than I could ever afford...So basically I went in and told him, "What do you need from me, so that I could use your history, tape library, title lineage, etc. from your old Mid-South/UWF wrestling." I work for OLN and they've backed the idea of carrying professional wrestling, and now, I've gotten myself so involved, I plan on financially backing this with my own savings." I want to do it right and create a viable alternative to WWE and even TNA for that matter...What I want is tradition, kayfabe, well written storylines, solid character developement, athleticism, nostalgia...I want to re-write history all over again." Watts, just listened with a grin on his face...He misses the product of which I speak of and says to me.."You know, if you re-created some of these old-storylines of the past such as The Freebird turn on The Von Erich's or The blinding of the Junkyard Dog or Eddie Gilbert burying me with the Russian Flag, your potential audience wouldn't completely know of these happenings, while many older fans would enjoy and reminice of the Glory Days...These angles happened over 20 years agao and there's a whole generation of wrestling fans that haven't been shown the proper way to build a feud, a rivalry, to tell a story...They've been forced fed the fast paced booking of Vince mcMahon or Vince Russo that doesn't always make sense... "Whats new is old and what's OLD IS NEW." I replied..."Exactly" said Watts... You need new stars, and with proper writing you can make some, but I'm afraid of when Vince gets wind of this, he'll use his money and power to just squash you..."Yeah, I know", I replied..."Do you want to invest?" Watts just laughed, "I dont have that kind of money to throw away, but what you do have going for you is a network that sounds sold on the idea, the right frame of mind, a great passion for what you want to produce and the rights to my lineage of Mid-South and The Universal Wrestling federation. "If you use some of those clips combined with your new product, you'll turn some heads." Whats the cost?" I asked. All, I'd like is a little bit of influence, maybe a small role, in which you'd pay me and if it works I'd like 10% of your earnings after your second year and each and every year after that...The first 2 years are on me, cause I like your style...Otherwise you could pay me a million dollars straight up." I was so dumb founded, that I made the deal right on the spot, without getting any lawyers involved...I was just happy to have a product to work with, a name to work with, a legend to work with, now I just needed to find a backer with more money and some talent... You know, I still have some clout down here in Oklahoma, Houston, Shreveport, New Orleans that, the name UWF or Mid-South could sell some tickets alone." he added as we concluded the meeting and thus is how, we will see the rebirth of wrestling the way it should be. I set my sights on January 2007 for the rebirth of the: THE UNIVERSAL WRESTLING FEDERATION meanwhile The ECW is now a full fledged 3rd brand by the WWE...MSG network has begun carrying WWE classics to help with its shortage of programming...Vince McMahon has turned over the 4th brand extension of the WCW to Eric Bischoff instead of Jim Ross, who by the way continues to attempt other high ups, such as Johnny Ace, Pat Patterson, Ted Dibiase, Michael Hayes, Dusty Rhodes and of course Shane and Stephanie that and oldschool style of wrestling is the way to go. Some agree with Ross and others don't...Regardless, word has gotten back to Vince that JR is still making his push, with a plan to use some OVW and current WWE talent for this brand, of which, some of the talent he's spoken to are excited about the prospects of the 4th brand, according to Ross

August 2006 The Universal Wrestling Federation is REBORN! Where were at: Bill Watts has reached a deal with myself regarding the naming rights, the video library, the use of himself as a character if we desire and he has thrown in a couple of title spots, in exchange for a percentage of our generated revenue...If I were to sell any of his product in the future, Watts would be entitled to all revenue generated from the sale and he has final say on any sale to another company...Thus insuring himself some $$$ if I ever tried to sell to Vince AUGUST 2006 I've returned to the home offices of The Outdoor Life Network in Stamford, Connecticut...The same network executives I've sold on the idea of a pro wrestling program as part of their programming package, is now having second thoughts...The concern is, sure they are excited about the involvement of Bill Watts with this concept, but question if I have the experience or guile to pull this off on my own, especially concerning to them is my limited funds and that Vince McMahon could just bully me out of the game...They also are concerned with what stars would I be able to produce...My answer was, "we would try to create new stars."...Needless to say I had to do alot of work to re-pitch my concept, as apparently it will take more than a name with some history. meanwhile Word has leaked that a new wrestling organization is in the works...Now, normally that wouldn't have been any concern to most, but it had Bill Watts name attached to it as well as mention that they could be affiliated with a national cable network...Jim Ross, who has mentioned to Vince mcMahon that a wrestling product with oldschool values would be the way to go with a brand extension, has now reiterated to Vince that, "it looks as if Bill Watts is beating us to the punch." Vince became enraged at Ross, because he knows that they have a history together and thought Ross was the person who has made the inroads with a cable network behind his back...Vince has warned JR that his contract is about to expire and if he wants to continue making a solid living he will cease any discussion of this talk and has threated the careers of anyone involved with Ross's idea...Vince said he will destroy any new company, that comes around, especially if its concept is being born within the confines of his WWE headquarters...Ross doesn't know what to make of his tirade, because he knows nothing of this new UWF concept... After, Vince's tirade...Jim Ross picked up his phone to call an old-friend in Oklahoma, to find out what the heck was going on!

September 2006 September 2006.... Jim Ross has felt the rath of Vince Mcmahon...Ross is being blamed by Vince that he is behind the birth of an old-school wrestling revolution...Vince thought this, because Ross was adament about using this approach in a brand extension of the WCW, but little does he know, this new but old promotion has been built from a little known television sales executive with a passion for wrestling "The way it use to be" has pitched his idea to the network he worked for and then got so involved that he acquired Bill Watts as a partner to bring back the Universal Wrestling Federation... In my world, I had to give up my duties at OLN and begin the process of hiring talent on my limited budget...OLN was not putting any money into it and neither was Bill Watts (he has just let us use his name, history and library)... Meanwhile after a phone call to his ole buddy Bill Watts, Jim Ross finally figured out what was going on..Watts told him, some young wrestling mark, who had a deal to get this promotion on the air on OLN was getting this going..."He don't his *ss from a whole in the ground, but he's got heart and he's a heckuva salesman, so I agreed to let him use the rights to the UWF" Watts told JR..."Well, that'll have Mr. Mchmahon in a tizzy if he hears another wrestling promotion is coming to cable" Ross replied... JR went on to tell Bill Watts that McMahon thought it was him that was starting this league, because he had the same concept and got shot down by Vince.."I better let him know where this is coming from, "JR told Watts as the conversation ended.. A week later JR was about to approach Mr. McMahon about this new UWF, when Vince came up to him first prior to a production meeting... Vince stated, "I hear the UWF is making its return and its going to be on OLN promoting an old-style of wrestling." JR responded, "Funny you should mention it, I just spoke with the ole Cowboy a week ago and..." as McMahon angrily interupts, "Bill Watts, UWF, cable TV, Old-school wrestling...This just reaks of you starting this up JR" "No Mr. McMahon, its some TV sales guy with no experience who happens to be a fan, starting this movement" "JR, I told you, that I'm not playing this game, I know you must be involved and in the blink of an eye, I will have OLN backing out of this deal and crushing the hopes of this UWF rebirth...So, with that said and the fact that your contract is up next month..JR...You'rrrrrrre Firrrrrrrrred!" vince stated as he turned his back on JR and walked away... Meanwhile With all my excitement, in getting this off the ground, I get a sudden phone call from OLN that they are backing out of any idea of having a UWF program as they've been approached to carry WWE wrestling classics, instead...Apparently McMahon has pulled this MSG classics off the Madison Square Garden network and will instead air that show on OLN...Now I have no job, no network, no talent and my money wrapped up into making this work as I've already invested some funds into some production equipment, a web-site, a ring and have begun to make some inroads on some talent...I was determined to make this work...I decided to start inquiring to other networks about creating a pilot episode to see if they would be interested in my concept...Only problem is I have no clout when it comes to this industry...when all of a sudden my cell phone rings and on the other end is the one and only...Jim Ross next up The UWF begins to take shape,

October 2006 October 2006 Things were looking a little bleak, for a bit...We have secured a couple of solid wrestlers to lay the groundwork of the new UWF, as both Claudio Castagnoli and Nigel McGuinness have come aboard...However, Vince McMahon has strong armed me, with OLN which has now begun its new concept as they have changed their name to "Versus". McMahon began negotiating a deal to put his WWE Classics which was airing on MSG network on Versus, only if they ceased negotiations with the Bill Watts UWF (Vince, is obviously giving me no credit for this)... So I have so much time and energy invested I was determined to make this work...I've begun contacting local TV stations about producing a wrestling program and was hoping on getting syndication...I continued to sort through 100's of wrestlers resume tapes, as I look for the right fit to join the UWF...I basically live out of my little one room office in Connecticut, when a knock at the door all but changed the destination of my UWF... It was........ Good Ole JR himself...Jim Ross "Kid, from everything I've heard about you through the grapevine, I like what your trying to do", he said. "But, your about to go up against an insurmountable mountain." "heck, even TNA is going to be a tough one to tackle for you, but one thing I agree with you about is their is room for oldschool wrestling in todays wrestling market.", Ross added as I just sat there with a dumbfound look on my face..."I've been trying to get Vince McMahon to go in this direction for most of the year, but he won't buy into it" said Ross...."How much have you invested with this UWF" asked Ross...To which I replied, "Pretty much all I got, around $50,000, but I have use of the name, library and lineage of Bill Watts old UWF." "Thats all fine and dandy son", Ross responded "But that aint gettin you know where with todays fans." What you need is a break and I have a couple of them for." "I love everything synonymous with old Mid South Wrestling and the UWF, but they are pretty dried up wrestling markets right now...The Tri-State region is where you need to stronghold on and I got a way to do that with some of my connections", Ross preached as pulled out his check book..."Let me invest into this concept and we'll use my sources and connections and your passion and lets put a little scare into Vince and set up shop on his home turf." he added as he wrote a check for $50,000. "But Vince owns the northeast" I quipped..."Well, there is a man who is very unhappy with Vince McMahon right now and that man has a ton of clout in this town. He's a TV guy, so you may have heard of him, and I have worked with him in the past and we've had a solid relationship and he just might be looking for a product that your creating...His name is James Dolan." as Ross dropped an information packet of Madison Square Garden on my desk in front of me. Next Up Who is James Dolan and what's his beef with Vince McMahon and how he can help with the Universal Takeover Movement!
He is the idiotic owner of my beloved New York Knicks who has allowed the worst GM in the history of sports, Isiah Thomas to drive the team into the ground!!!!
Darn, you ruined it for me, could have put up a "spoiler" for me or something, lol *Just kidding!! I am loving this backstory, I am looking at if very objectively, so it's getting to be exciting. With TEW around the corner, I can imagine it's going to start coming together, where we can see the specific goals (outside of the obvious), especially the short term goals of the company.

Million Dollar Man ABOARD! UWFwrestling.com has reported that The Universal Wrestling Federation has signed a talent that links up all the way back to the old UWF in the one and only Million Dollar Man! TED DIBIASE Ted Dibiase was born in January of 1954 to the parents of two professional wrestlers (Helen Hild and Iron Mike Dibiase)...He was trained for the sport by Dory Funk Jr. , but then made a name for himself in the Mid-South territory where he was a former North American heavyweight Champion and a multiple time tag champ in the Mid South/UWF region...He was involved in some of wrestlings most famous angles with such wrestlers as JYD, Dick Murdoch, The Fabulous Freebirds, Jim Duggan, The One man Gang and Steve Williams...Dibiase moved to the WWF where he had one of the most infamous gimmicks ever as "The Million Dollar Man"...During his tenure there he held the WWE Tag Titles on 3 occasions as a member of Money Inc. and also went on to manage and provide color commentary for WWF programming...Recently Dibiase was working with the WWE as a producer and was just let go from his position by the WWE...The Universal Wrestling Federation was quick to recognize the historical significance Dibiase brings to the new UWF era and looks forward to see, what kind of leadership he can provide to the developing locker room It has not yet been determined what Dibiase's role will be with the UWF, but nonetheless has been agreed upon that he can only be a positive influence on this organization.. In our offices Dibiase recently talked about his release from WWE and that he has absolutely no hard feelings towards Vince McMahon, he also talks about how he became "The Million Dollar Man" and his vision of what pro wrestling needs this day...It is a same vision that the new UWF looks to strive for...
