Women's Championship Wrestling - The Reinvention

Recommended Posts

Prologue It had all gone according to plan. After purchasing the Angel Athletic Association from Anne Stardust, making bold promises of success, it seemed to surprise everyone but him that he actually managed to come through on all his brash claims. Developing a roster of diverse styles and taking women's wrestling to the pinnacle of popularity, dwarfing the male dominated promotions of the day, he took pride in doing it without resorting to the softcore porn methods of his competitors. Seeing his workers, the talents he developed, gracing red carpets the world over, made him smile. But all was not well within the kingdom he built. In recent months, he found himself hiring male workers by the dozen, in an attempt to add some spark to a concept he himself was tiring of. The list of people more than willing to sign on, just for the chance to be a part of the phenomenon numbered in the hundreds. Though there were some who refused due to geographic or earning potential concerns, he managed to assemble a crew he felt he could mold into international superstars. Mind made up, he prepared to roll his plans out, beginning with the backstage staff. It was time for a reinvention.......
Note: This is the continuation of my previous diary, with a bit of a change in booking method. For one thing, I have pretty much eliminated the use of t-shirt shooting, since my workers have developed enough for me to not need them for crowd management. But, my intent is to make it entertaining in a real way that folks can identify with personally (not "WWE wouldn't do it that way"). So, here goes......
The Staff Pitch Walking down the hall toward the large conference room, I ran through the points I wanted to make......then tossed out the speech I had planned to make. The people I was going to be speaking to have come to know me pretty well. I had to be honest with them and let them know what I was thinking and what brought me to make the decision I made. Reaching for the door handle, I gathered my thoughts, pushed down, and walked in. "Ladies and gentlemen, I'm tired. Tired of being predictable and booking matches with outcomes that even an Alzheimer's patient could figure out. I'm tired of listening to people whine about their "spot". I'm tired of paying people exorbitant amounts of money when they can't perform to the level of someone making a tenth of what they are. I'm just tired. So from now on, we're going to shake things up. We'll start with the rebranding we've been talking about for the last 6 months. Anne, this promotion is your baby, your brainchild. I won't let AAA be forgotten. However, I think a new name is needed to mark our new direction and that new name will be..........." Angels of WCW website:
- When last we saw him, WCW owner Remianen was lying in a pool of his own blood after a brutal attack by his enforcer, Hells Bouncer, Ripper LeStat, and Nemesis. This after denying them a shot at Mariko Yoshida's Puroresu title. But now the boss is back. How will he respond to their treachery? - The Angel of the Dark has made it clear that she still has unfinished business with Femme Fatale champion, LuFisto. How will the First Lady of Hardcore take to the implied challenge of Raven Nightfall? - World Women's Champion Joanne Rodriguez has proven she can't beat Meiko Satomura in a fair fight. But how will J.Ro and her beau Champagne Lover fare now that her former protegé Miss Mexico is also gunning for her? - The Outcasts (Chyna, Sable, Linda Miles) have challenged The Quintessential Blue Angels (Tamara McFly, Ayako Hamada, Missy Masterson) to a match, anytime, anywhere, any stipulation. They see it as their last shot at regaining the glories of years past. Will the Tenacious Trio accept or will they spurn the desires of also-rans and never weres? - Wolf Hawkins has been on a tear since debuting six weeks ago. A tear that saw him beat Sammy Bach and take the Generation X title at Summerslam. But can he turn away the challenge of Darryl Devine or become yet another victim of the Devine Dream Drop? PLUS: Above & Below (Hell Monkey & Emerald Angel) take on Destiny’s World Tag Team champions Sensational Thunder, in non-title action. The newly formed team of Miss Information & Buffy Gellar, the Mavericks, take on Mercedes Martinez & Daizee Haze. The Spice Girls (Ashley Paige & Lisa Fury) have issued a challenge to Fate Junior Tag champs, Seek & Destroy (Huntress Makiko & Ikuko Temko) after their interference cost Ashley & Lisa the win last week against Psycho Bitch (Nina the Psycho Ballerina & Emma Bitch). How will the champs respond? All this and more on the debut of ‘Mark of Purpose’, this Saturday, only on MTV!
WCW Mark of Purpose Saturday Week 3 August 2007 Held in front of 24,599 at New Hampshire Garden in New England and showing LIVE on MTV. Ayako Ishida, Emma Chase, and Melanie Florence welcome the audience to the debut episode of WCW Mark of Purpose. The camera cuts to the parking lot to see an SUV pull up and Ayako Hamada, Tamara McFly, and Missy Masterson emerge from it. A A video is played detailing the events of the last few weeks culminating in Hell’s Bouncer, Ripper LeStat, and Nemesis’s brutal beating of WCW owner Remianen, including footage of him in the hospital. B- Remianen comes out to the ring while the video is playing and, once it finishes, produces a mic. He says, "You know, I bet everyone here is expecting me to go off on those three. I will, of course, but all in due time. Tonight, I’m giving Hell’s Bouncer, Ripper LeStat, and Nemesis the night off. In fact, I’m going to reinforce it by banning them from the building. Security has been informed. Rest up guys, you’re definitely going to need it." B Larry Wood vs. Kaoru Ito (c) for the WCW Ultraviolence title Larry Wood comes to the ring with two garbage cans full of various weapons, including several light tubes. The match begins with Larry making full use of his significant size advantage, battering Ito around the ring. At one point, he lands a thunderous sidewalk slam but instead of going for the pin, he rolls out of the ring looking for more implements of carnage. That turned out to be a tide-turning mistake as Kaoru dropkicked a stop sign into his face, ducked a clothesline attempt and reversed it into a german suplex onto a trash can. She then took two light tubes and, with big underhanded wind-ups, landed two low blows, shattering the light tubes in a most vulnerable area. A DDT onto a trash can lid and the result was academic. Kaoru Ito defeated Larry Wood by pinfall to retain the WCW Ultraviolence title. C+ The camera panning the audience stops on three individuals seated close to ringside. One of them notices the camera and alerts the other two and viewers get to see it’s Nemesis, Hell’s Bouncer, and Ripper LeStat! C Mavericks vs Mercedes Martinez & Daizee Haze Back and forth match that could’ve gone either way until Jenny Playmate distracted the ref long enough for Nicole Kiss to slide in a kendo stick which Buffy was all too eager to use on Mercedes. She followed it with a Buffy Blast and the 1,2,3. Mavericks defeated Mercedes Martinez & Daizee Haze by pinfall after interference by Jenny Playmate. B The cameras take us to the ring, where Karen Killer invites Remianen to join her from the back. As Remianen makes his way down the aisle, Karen repeatedly thanks the producers and the crowd for allowing her the opportunity to speak. When Remianen enters the ring, Karen goes into a lengthy apology for the recent actions of her stable member, Ripper LeStat. A Remianen slowly takes the microphone and says, "Y'know Karen, you're quite a piece o' work. When I hired you, you had been fired, summarily dismissed from some backwater backyard wrestling promotion that Rip Chord set his addled dreams upon. You begged me, much like you're doing now, to sign this green rookie working in a barroom rasslin' federation in Europe. This guy doesn't know a turnbuckle from a turnpike. But I did it, I signed him, and you assured me that you'd keep the psychopath in line. But you didn't. So you too will have to pay. I'm not going to fire you, you've got too much talent and I have too much invested in you so far. No, your stable will pay and pay dearly." B+ "I suggest you tell Ms. Chif and Demonica to get ready since they've got a match tonight against.....April Appleseed & Katherine Goodlooks, Fantasy! And that match...is next!" B- Dark Child vs. Fantasy The difference in skill level was obvious in this match as April & Katherine spent more than half the match isolating Demonica with quick tags and a flurry of offense. Using teamwork that belied their excellent chemistry, they took the steam out of Ms. Chif when she was finally tagged in. When Demonica re-entered, she found herself on the receiving end of a Good Lookin' Lariat then trapped in the Apple Picker, forcing her to tap. Fantasy defeated Dark Child when April Appleseed defeated Demonica by submission with an Apple Picker. B+ The cameras cut backstage to find Tanny Mouse & Yuki Miyazaki, NEO Machine Guns, brutally assaulting Miss Michelle. Yuki says, "You go tell your clients who did this to you. They know where to find us! hahaha!" B- Ayako Ishida says, "Melissa & Michelle are not going to be happy about that." Emma Chase replies, "Thank you, Captain Obvious!" Tracy Brooks makes her way to the ring for her match. A* Raven Nightfall vs. Tracy Brooks Despite bad chemistry, these two managed to have a pretty good match. Enc came after Raven reversed Tracy's attempt at a Brooks & Done into the Night Faller and made the pin with her feet on the ropes. Raven Nightfall defeated Tracy Brooks by pinfall while using the ropes for leverage. B+ The Quintessential Blue Angels are in the ring with mics and they officially accept The Outcasts challenge and will meet them in a match at Shock & Awe. B+ In the middle of their promo, three men jump the barricades and attack them. Nemesis Arrow on Tamara McFly, Ripper Bomb on Missy Masterson, and a Descent to Hell on Ayako Hamada. As security rushes the ring, Nemesis, Hell's Bouncer, and Ripper LeStat flee through the crowd. B+ Darryl Devine vs. Wolf Hawkins for the WCW Generation X title Excellent match that went back and forth and looked wide open until Willow interjected, distracting the ref long enough for Wolf to choke Darryl with a ringside mic cord before rolling him back into the ring. Full Moon Rising and the pin soon followed. Wolf Hawkins defeated Darryl Devine by pinfall with a Full Moon Rising after interference by Willow to retain the WCW Generation X title. B+ The camera cuts backstage to Kayo Noumi, standing by with Phoebe Plumridge and her clients, the WCW Fate World Tag Team champions, Intensity! Phoebe says, "At the risk of sounding immodest, right now you're looking at the very best tag team in the world, of either gender, in ANY promotion on this planet." A* Takako Inoue vs. Catherine Quine Ugh, well scripted match that suffered from the lack of chemistry between these two. Mercifully ended after a Takako Panic. Takako Inoue defeated Catherine Quine by pinfall after a Takako Panic. B- Lorelei Lee vs. Joanne Rodriguez (c) for the WCW World Women's title Woo boy! This was a barn burner! It seemed like everything J.Ro tried, Lorelei countered or reversed and everything Lorelei tried, J.Ro had an answer for. Eventually, after a near fall got too close for comfort, Cuervo got involved by distracting the referee long enough for Champagne Lover to hit Lorelei with the Champagne Sunrise and roll her into the ring where J.Ro was waiting. One J-Rocker and a casual cover later, J.Ro had her fifth successful title defense. Joanne Rodriguez defeated Lorelei Lee by pinfall with a J-Rocker after interference by Champagne Lover to retain the WCW World Women's title. A Above & Below vs. Sensational Thunder Quite a match to end the show as these two veteran teams went head to head. With a series of quick tags, they put on a clinic in tag team wrestling. With Emerald Angel showcasing the high flying he's known for and Thunder Hike trying to keep him grounded with her technical acumen, Hell Monkey and Sensational Ogiwara blending everything beautifully, everyone present seemed disappointed when the match finally came to an end when Ogiwara ducked a Hell Fire Kick and hit the Sensational Stunner for the win. Sensational Thunder defeated Above & Below when Sensational Ogiwara defeated Hell Monkey by pinfall with a Sensational Stunner. A Overall Show Rating: A Post Show Notes: - Oh damn! After wrestling a dark match, Jaguar Yokota tore her ACL and is out 167 days. :(

Pulling things out of left field is his specialty. Jane Childs: Our first match has Lioness champion Alicia defending her title against plucky Brit, Jade. Let’s go to the ring! Jade vs. Alicia (c) for the WCW Lioness title Quick match between two raw talents that ended when Alicia hit the Split End. Alicia defeated Jade in 9:12 by pinfall with a Split End. C- Fate Junior Tag champs Seek & Destroy are backstage with Kayo Noumi and Huntress Makiko has an answer for The Spice Girls’ challenge. She says, “No.” C+ Remianen walks up and disagrees. “The Junior Tag titles must be defended so, at Shock & Awe, it’ll be Huntress Makiko & Ikuko Temko, Seek & Destroy, defending the titles against Ashley Paige & Lisa Fury, The Spice Girls. Yeah, that sounds kinda fly.” B The camera catches Jungle Jack & Tim Westybrook laying a brutal beating on Ripper LeStat & Hell’s Bouncer. They beat them all over the backstage area and make their way through the curtain and down the ramp, before they spill into the ring and the ref rings the bell. C- The Power Plant vs. Hell’s Bouncer & Ripper LeStat The action was fast and furious as these two teams tore into each other. When HB and Westybrook faced off, it was a back and forth display of power moves. Eventually, the action spilled outside the ring where the four competitors remained, both teams being counted out. The Power Plant drew with Hell's Bouncer & Ripper LeStat in 13:57 following a double count out. C+ Nemesis makes his way to the ring and calls for a mic. “I’m getting’ sick of all this crap. Remianen, you walk around here and bitch and moan about what we did to you. Did it ever occur to you that if you had given us what we asked for, your ass wouldn’t have been kicked? Quit yer whinin’, quit yer bitchin’, and handle your business! I’m the biggest damn star in this promotion and I haven’t been booked in almost a month. That’s not good for business!” A Remianen comes out and says, “Nemesis, Nemesis, Nemesis, when will you learn? You are right about one thing though. I haven’t booked you in a while. But all that will change because at Shock & Awe, you’ll be facing…..well, the guy standing behind you.” Nemesis turns and is immediately floored by a hooded man who had slipped into the ring. A* Sue Danes: “I know that move. That’s the Delorean Driver!” Melanie Florence: “Delorean Driver? There’s only one worker in the world who uses that move but he can’t be here. It’s not possible!” Jane Childs squeals: “It’s SEAN MCFLY!” Remianen says, “For those of you who have been sleeping under rocks for the past few years, that man’s name is Sean McFly (A*) and at Shock & Awe, he will be going one-on-one with Nemesis!” (A*) After the thunderous applause of the audience has abated somewhat, Remianen continues. “As great as that match sounds, I think Sean needs a bit of a warmup, wouldn’t you say? It’ll allow our fans to get a look at what he can do. So, in tonight’s main event, we’ll see Sean McFly go one-on-one with….hmmm, I’m thinking….ACID! Hi Karen!” A* The crowd just about blows the roof off the arena. Sue Danes: You may recall, Acid is a member of The Darkness, Karen Killer’s stable. Melanie Florence: I guess the boss wasn’t kidding when he said he was going to punish them all for Ripper LeStat’s wrongdoing. Riptide vs. Yumi Fukawa (c) for the WCW All-World title Good match that went back and forth as two workers with contrasting styles set up their best spots. The finish came when Yumi rolled through a hiptoss, followed with a dropkick and the Corbata for the win. Yumi Fukawa defeated Riptide in 13:37 by pinfall with a Corbata. C+ The cameras cut to the parking lot where Tanny Mouse and Yuki Miyazaki, NEO Machine Guns, are arriving. Suddenly, an SUV pulls up and hits them and Miss Michelle gets out of the SUV followed by Cheerleader Melissa & Michelle McCool, Par Excellence. Miss Michelle orders her team to beat the holy hell out of Tanny & Yuki, which they’re all too happy to oblige. A Jane Childs: My God, what has gotten into those two? Sue Danes: Umm, wasn’t it a few days ago when Tanny and Yuki beat the hell out of Par Excellence’s MANAGER in an attack that was totally unprovoked? Melanie Florence: Really. I wonder who’s laughing now. Jane Childs says, “Ladies and Gentlemen, as a reminder, our main event is coming up soon and will be the debut match of Sean McFly, facing the veteran high flyer, Acid!” A Melanie Florence: But next up, we have Wolf Hawkins defending the Generation X title against Emi Sakura. Let’s go to the ring! Emi Sakura vs. Wolf Hawkins (c) for the WCW Generation X title Very good match that was balanced in offense. At one point, it looked like we would have a new Gen-X champion when Emi managed to ground Wolf long enough to go for her patented finisher, the Nya Nya Press (720 splash) when Willow interfered, giving Wolf time to recover and hit the Full Moon Rising for the win. Wolf Hawkins defeated Emi Sakura in 18:57 by pinfall when Willow interfered. B Trinity vs. LuFisto (c) for the WCW Femme Fatale title Great match that saw LuFisto make Trinity look unstoppable. Trinity tried everything she could but she couldn’t keep the champion down for 3 seconds. Mafia Kick, 2 count. Muscle Buster, 2 count. Dragon Suplex, 2 count. She even hit her finisher, the Fall from Grace moonsault, and STILL LuFisto kicked out. Growing increasingly frustrated, she picked the champion up, irish whipped her, and tried for a flying body press but was floored when she met with a Superkick. The champion then followed with a Ligerbomb and the Emerald Fusion for the win. LuFisto defeated Trinity in 18:55 by pinfall with an Emerald Fusion. A* The Bomb Squad vs. Intensity (c) for the Fate World Tag titles Magnificent match that showcased two of the top tag teams in WCW. Saori Nakadan produced most of the action at the outset but at the 10 minute mark, the match exploded in activity. With both teams close to tiring, Saeko set Mushashibo up for the Hiroyuki Bomb, which Kinuye reversed into the Blue Thunder for the win and successful title defense. Intensity defeated The Bomb Squad in 28:46 when Kinuye Mushashibo defeated Saeko Hiroyuki by pinfall with a Blue Thunder. A* Jane Childs: Our main event is up next and features Sean McFly in his debut match in WCW, taking on Acid! Acid vs. Sean McFly Easily a match of the year candidate. These two let it all hang out and it showed. Sean showed why he’s arguably one of the top three workers in the world, starting the match off with his patented chops, controlling the early going. Acid then took over the middle part of the match, showing his prowess both in the air and on the mat. In the end, McFly countered an attempted flying double axe handle into a beautiful overhead belly to belly suplex. He followed with his trademark delayed vertical suplex and signaled to the crowd that the end was near as he hit the Delorean Driver for the win. Sean McFly defeated Acid in 29:03 by pinfall with a Delorean Driver. A* After the match, Sean acknowledged the crowd’s deafening cheers, which left him open to a spear from behind by Acid. Moments later, Hell’s Bouncer and Ripper LeStat, looking none the worse for wear, followed Nemesis to the ring where they put the boots to McFly. That is, until little sister Tamara, along with Ayako Hamada and Missy Masterson came out to make the save. A Overall Show Rating: A Post Show Notes Ripper LeStat was used far too much (figured that would happen. He's only an Enhancement Talent :p). Wha, Kinuye Mushashibo was slightly over-used? HOW?!?

Wednesday, Week 4, August 2007 - AM Remianen is sitting in his office when his phone buzzes. "Yes, Aurora?" "There are some folks out here to see you." "Send them in." In walks Tamara McFly, smiling from ear to ear, along with Ayako Hamada and Missy Masterson. Tamara says, "Remi, I just wanted to thank you for freeing my brother from that vindictive bitch. I know he didn't come cheap." "Tam, a worker of your brother's stature comes along maybe once in a generation. There was no way I was going to allow that kind of talent to be wasted jobbing to the likes of Mammoth, Gregg Boone, Jason Rogers, and Brent Hill. I mean, that's just bad for business to squander talent like that. Oh and no, he most certainly did not come cheap." Missy pipes up, "Can I try out a new gimmick?" "No." Missy pouts, "Bah, you're no fun." "I think I am. In fact, I think it would be a good idea for you three to tune in to Mark of Destiny tonight. No reason really, just a hunch." Remianen smirks.

Though the inexperience of Minx & Erin Angel showed at times, the veteran Uematsu kept things under control. The end came when Erin tried for a hurricanrana and got caught by young powerhouse Karen Bilous, who reversed it into the always brutal looking Bilous Bomb. A* AR-15 vs The Boudiccans Very good match that went back and forth with each team showing its excellent chemistry. The end looked near after Rika Takahashi hit a Ligerbomb on Rachel Laberge that laid both of them out. Rachel managed to tag in Geena but the ref didn’t see Rika tag in April and in the confusion, Geena was able to smash her short spear over Rika’s head, which was immediately followed by the pin. The Boudiccans defeated AR-15 in 18:46 when Geena The Warrior Princess defeated Rika Takahashi by pinfall after using a foreign object. B+ Remianen comes out again to announce he’s booked another match. “At Shock & Awe, we’re going to settle this once and for all. It’s going to be Par Excellence facing off against NEO Machine Guns….in an EXTREME RULES match!” A Rampage vs. The Hart Foundation Good match that saw the end come when Malia Hosaka was tossed from the ring and while Nattie baited the referee, Alere hit the Alere-dust on Malia while the referee restrained Azumi Hyuga, leading to the count out. The Hart Foundation defeated Rampage in 18:47 when Malia Hosaka was counted out while fighting Nattie Neidhart. B+ Ayako Ishida informs the crowd that yet another match has been added to Shock & Awe. This one will see Sensational Thunder defend the WCW Destiny World Tag titles against Dos Apache….under Lucha rules! A Jacqui Jones is standing by backstage with her clients, Dos Apache. She says, “Ladies, this is the opportunity we’ve been waiting for. Our long awaited shot at the tag titles.” Fabi adds, “Sensational Thunder is a great team and one we admire a great deal.” Mary interjects, “Pero lucha rules work in our favor. It’s what we’re used to, it’s what we’ve trained under, it’s who we ARE. And at Shock & Awe, our strategy will be set on winning two falls and walking out the NEW Destiny World Tag Team champions!” A The cameras catch Phoebe Plumridge backstage talking to her client, Meiko Satomura. They turn to the camera and Phoebe says, “It’s been proven that the paper champion Joanne Rodriguez cannot pin Meiko. She’s lost repeatedly to my client by disqualification and countout. But come Shock & Awe, given the way she’s been training, there is no doubt in my mind that I’ll walk out the manager of CHAMPIONS on both brands.” A* Army of Darkness vs Sean McFly & Steve Flash Good match that went back and forth for the duration. Sean managed to make Elestor bleed from the chest with the number of chops he landed. After a see-saw exchange, Steve Flash hit the Flash Bang out of nowhere while Acid & Sean brawled on the floor. Sean McFly & Steve Flash defeated Army of Darkness in 28:31 when Steve Flash defeated Elestor by pinfall with a Flash Bang. A The match is over but the competitors continue fighting as Nemesis & Hell’s Bouncer come in through the crowd to get them some. But the odds are soon evened as Hell Monkey and Emerald Angel come in to make the save, leading to a wild 8 man melee. B- Remianen comes out with security officials and announces that Saturday at Mark of Purpose, we will see an 8 man tag match between Nemesis, Hell’s Bouncer, Acid, and Elestor facing off against Sean McFly, Steve Flash, Hell Monkey, and Emerald Angel! B Powers of Pain vs Sensational Thunder (c) for the WCW Destiny World Tag titles This match was off the chain. A perfect combination of brawling, high flying, and technique, it was a shame to see it devolve to the point where the referee had to stop it after Samoan Machine and Dark Angel ran in to attack Cherry Bomb & Etsuko Mita and Rachel Laberge and Geena the Warrior Princess ran in to attack Sensational Ogiwara & Thunder Hike. Powers of Pain drew with Sensational Thunder in 28:37 when the referee lost control and stopped the match. A* Remianen comes out looking more than a little upset. He says, “Damn it, you just can’t leave well enough alone, can you? Okay then, I’ve got something for you. Bomb & Mita, you two really can’t stand Samoan Machine & Dark Angel, can you? Machine & Angel, you two can’t stand Bomb & Mita, correct? Alrighty then, we’ll settle this at Shock & Awe. Check this: It’s going to be Powers of Pain versus Waking Nightmare, HELL….IN A CELL!” A* Overall show rating: A* Post show notes: Hmm, used Steve Flash far too much, eh?
Whoa the ratings on this diary are extremely inflated, you should fix that.
The ratings aren't inflated at all. The workers involved are working for a cutting edge promotion (where in-ring skill trumps 'entertainment skill', by and large) and each of them can perform in the ring. They've been putting on B+ or better rated matches for over a year prior to the rebranding. There are exceptions (which will become obvious) but Acid-McFly in the Tri State area (where Acid is most over), given the ability of the workers involved, rated out exactly as I thought, as an example.
Which real world mod are you using for this one?
My own mod. It's the Cornellverse as the base with about 200 or so real world workers (most of them women, though Carly Colon, The Amazing Red, Jody Fleisch, Dustin Runnels, Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, Greg Gagne, Earl Hebner, and a few others are in too) and several real world (LLPW, LLF, NWWL, CZW, Big Japan, Baja Stars, Muscle Rock Productions, Wrestling Society X) and created promotions from Fall of the One Ring Circus (Vice City Wrestling) and RufasXP (Spirit Ministry & Entertainment, Grapple Girls Uncensored). RufasXP had a lot of workers I imported into my DB when I made it, several of whom are still on my roster (Buffy Gellar, Dark Maiden, Angelic Goth, a few others). There's nothing inflated about the workers, except for the WWE "divas" who came with inflated overness to begin with (they were imported from T-Zone & RaveX). Changes were made to several workers' stats where appropriate (for example, I can't see how Chris Benoit can be rated A across the board in technical skills but Mariko Yoshida rates B-, B, and B) since I felt some workers were unfairly underrated (come on, LuFisto a C+ in Hardcore?!?). My top managers (and announcers) have fairly high (B- / B range) overness due to working dark matches with my top stars since there's no other way to get them overness fairly. Without it, they destroy angles they're in, regardless of how good their "entertainment" skills are. Overall though, Sensational Ogiwara is the best women's worker in the game. Mariko Yoshida is on par with her, Cheerleader Melissa and LuFisto are just behind them, with several other workers (Ayako Hamada, Tamara McFly, Saori Nakadan, Christie Ricci, Manami Toyota, Cherry Bomb, Thunder Hike, etc) on the tier below that. So I'd recommend folks not look at my shows through a Sports Entertainment filter (where overness is everything and in-ring skill matters little). I'm Cutting Edge for a reason and that reason is, I value in-ring skill more than anything else. Overness is earned in the ring, based on how the workers perform. In that respect, "performance" skills are far more important than "entertainment" skills. As an example, April Appleseed has developed very good performance skills (B or better across the board, A in Consistency) and she seems to be raising the ratings of the matches she's involved in as a result. Anyway, keep reading. It'll become obvious who is up to snuff and who still needs work. Just keep in mind that I'm in the business of developing stars in the ring, and I've gotten quite good at it over the last year. ;)

WCW Mark of Purpose Saturday Week 4 August 2007 Held in front of 18,842 at Nevada State Armory in South West and showing LIVE on MTV. Ayako Ishida, Emma Chase, and Melanie Florence welcome the audience to WCW Mark of Purpose. We’re taken backstage where Yoshiko Tamura is pacing while Lucía tries to calm her down. She finally looks at the camera and says, “Yumi Fukawa, you talk about honor but show none. You talk about excellence while you’re obviously mediocre. At Shock & Awe, only 1 day away and only on Pay Per View, I’ll do this company a favor by removing the All-World title from your possession.” C Emma Chase: Here’s a match I’ve been looking forward to. The tag team debut of Emma Bitch and ODB, PMS, taking on three-time Junior tag champs, Amber O’Neal & Krissy Vaine, Team Blondage. Let’s go to the ring! PMS vs Team Blondage Good match that saw the action go back and forth until Krissy Vaine found a way to neutralize ODB’s power advantage and hit the Special Attraction for the win. Team Blondage defeated PMS in 13:46 when Krissy Vaine defeated ODB by pinfall with a Special Attraction. C+ The camera cuts to backstage where J.Ro is standing by. “Meiko, you say I’ve never pinned you and you’re right. You say I’ve never made you submit and you’re right again. But the fact remains, I still hold this title and I didn’t need to pin you to hold onto it. Tomorrow at Shock & Awe, it’ll feel like Groundhog Day for you because no matter what you do, at best you’ll still walk out with an empty victory and I’ll still walk out, World Women’s Champion.” A The arena erupts with the sound of dogs barking incessantly. Ayako Ishida: Who let the dog out? Emma Chase and Melanie Florence groan. Dog Fyte vs. Kaoru Ito (c) for the WCW Ultraviolence title Decent match that suffered for Dog Fyte’s lack of overness. After a spirited brawl inside and outside of the ring, Ito hit the Spiral Bomb on the ramp for the win. Kaoru Ito defeated Dog Fyte in 14:16 by pinfall with a Spiral Bomb. C Remianen comes out and says, “Shock & Awe will see a lot of matches that folks are eagerly anticipating. What it will also see is the return of the Triad title and its newest champions will be either the Outcasts or the Quintessential Blue Angels!” A The cameras cut to backstage after the latest bombshell was dropped to find Kimberly Page standing by with her clients, Sable, Chyna, and Linda Miles, the Outcasts. She says, “As if the pot needed sweetening, now not only do we get the opportunity to make a statement in this promotion and teach these one hit wonders a lesson in respect, but we’ll also walk out the new WCW Triad champions. That has a very nice ring to it, if I do say so myself!” B- Melanie Florence: And now we head back to the ring to see Apple Miyuki & Ochiyo Iijima, Sky High, take on the monstrous Kong Queens! Sky High vs. Kong Queens (Aja & Amazing Kong) An obvious mismatch dominated by the Kongs. Though the smaller girls managed to annoy the monsters for brief stretches, the result was never in question. Kong Queens defeated Sky High in 13:31 when Aja Kong defeated Ochiyo Iijima by pinfall with an Uraken. B Backstage where the Quintessential Blue Angels are standing by. Ayako Hamada says, “Gold on the line and the chance to send those has beens to yet another humiliating loss.” Missy says, “Bonus!” before Tamara interjects, “It was all over for you tramps 10 years ago but still you insist on sticking around when you’re obviously not wanted. Tomorrow night, we put you dogs down, once and for all.” A Sakura Hirota vs. Wolf Hawkins (c) for the WCW Generation X title Excellent match from two solid all-rounders. After rolling out of a moonsault attempt, Wolf seals the win with a Full Moon Rising. Wolf Hawkins defeated Sakura Hirota in 13:56 by pinfall with a Full Moon Rising. B+ Emma Chase hypes the upcoming TLC match for the WCW Television title featuring Esther Moreno defending against Allison Danger, Lorelei Lee, Sumie Sakai, Saki Maemura, and Sachie Abe. C We’re taken to the ring where LuFisto & Raven Nightfall are standing by with Remianen, ready to sign the contract for their match at Shock & Awe. After a brief staredown, LuFisto signs the contract. Raven then picks up her pen, throws it at LuFisto and commences to beating her down. She then takes a pen from Remianen and signs the contract. A* Remianen then says, “It’s official. Tomorrow night as WCW presents Shock & Awe, only on Pay Per View, we’ll see LuFisto defending her WCW Femme Fatale title against Raven Nightfall…..in a Last Woman Standing match!" A Karen Killer & Raven blanch as Karen says, “WHAT? Last Woman Standing?!?” to which Remianen replies, “Did either of you READ the contract before Raven signed it?” and smirks, as LuFisto looks on with a maniacal gleam in her eye. B+ Allison Danger vs. Lorelei Lee vs. Saki Maemura vs. Sachie Abe vs. Sumie Sakai vs. Esther Moreno (c) for the WCW Television title in a TLC match Very good match that saw high spots galore. After several failed attempts by all the participants, the end finally came when Esther Moreno hit a German Suplex on an exhausted Allison Danger off a ladder and through a table set up in the ring, which left only one person conscious enough to climb the ladder and retrieve the title. Saki Maemura defeated Lorelei Lee, Sumie Sakai, Esther Moreno, Allison Danger and Sachie Abe in 19:05 when Saki Maemura retrieved the title. B- Ayako Ishida: That was one hell of a match! Emma Chase cackles, “MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! No more gold for the Darkness!” Kyoko Inoue vs. Manami Toyota In this sentimental match between two ring veterans, a clinic in wrestling was put on. But with Kyoko nursing an ankle injury, it made it easier for her opponent to take advantage, hitting the Japanese Queen Bee Bomb for the victory. Manami Toyota defeated Kyoko Inoue in 19:28 by pinfall with a Japanese Queen Bee Bomb. B KAORU and Mayumi Ozaki come to the ring and lay down an open challenge for any team in the company to try and beat them. B+ Tracy Brooks comes down the ramp and accepts their challenge before turning around and pointing at the curtain where her tag team partner is revealed to be……MARIKO YOSHIDA! A Mariko Yoshida & Tracy Brooks vs. D-FIX Excellent match between veterans who know each other well (and Tracy Brooks) which ended when Tracy tried setting up Mayumi Ozaki for the Brooks & Done and Nicole Kiss slid a chair into the ring which Oz was more than happy to use on Tracy, drawing the DQ. Mariko Yoshida & Tracy Brooks defeated D-FIX in 18:56 when Mayumi Ozaki was disqualified while fighting Tracy Brooks. A* The cameras cut backstage where Sean McFly, Steve Flash, Hell Monkey, and Emerald Angel are warming up for their match. Sean says, “It’s about time someone taught you punks a lesson and we’re up to the task. And tomorrow night, at Shock & Awe, I’m going to teach Nemesis a personal lesson. Last week, you hit my little sister with the Nemesis Arrow. Tomorrow, I’m going to show you what happens to people who try to bully my family.” B- Nemesis, Hell’s Bouncer, Acid, and Elestor vs. Sean McFly, Steve Flash, Hell Monkey, and Emerald Angel Great match that oozed with action. With brawls breaking out inside and outside the ring, the finish came when Steve Flash hit the Flash Bang out of nowhere on Hell’s Bouncer which allowed the legal man, Emerald Angel, to hit the Angel’s Fury for the win. Sean McFly & Steve Flash and Above & Below defeated Hellspawn and Army of Darkness in 29:10 when Emerald Angel defeated Hell's Bouncer by pinfall with an Angel Fury. A Overall Rating: A

For Rob, the road agent notes from that main event, protect note was on Hell's Bouncer:
Aurora did some good work at ringside. Elestor and Charlene are a good pairing, they play off each other well. Sean McFly and Seduction are a good pairing, they play off each other well. Emerald Angel was visibly tiring toward the end. Emerald Angel and BJ O'Neill are a good pairing, they play off each other well. The colour commentary gave the match a boost. The performance of Nemesis stood out as being good. Sean McFly looked good out there. This match lifted the crowd.
Nothing about Hell's Bouncer running out of steam (with his D stamina). I'm guessing that's because everyone else on his team has high stamina so he only had to enter the match long enough to take the pin.

WCW Mark of Fate Tuesday, Week 1 September, 2007 Held in front of 15,000 at San Juan Coliseum (Puerto Rico) and showing LIVE on MTV. Jane Childs, Melanie Florence, and Sue Danes welcome the audience to another episode of Mark of Fate. Yoshiko Tamura is walking backstage when she turns a corner and locks eyes with Yumi Fukawa. The two women go right at each other before several officials separate them. C Above the din, a voice says, “Did I do something to you two?” and the camera zooms out to show Remianen watching the commotion. Walking between the two women being restrained, he asks, “Did our fans do something to give you a good reason to deprive them of what promises to be an awesome match next Sunday?” Taking note of their embarrassed and sheepish looks he says, “I’ll tell you what. You two want to go at it? Fine. You have…*looks at his watch*…45 minutes to find a tag team partner, then you can try to kill each other out there.” B- Kyoko Kimura & Daizee Haze vs. Deadly Method (Dark Maiden & Demonica) Quick precursor match ended after Dark Maiden hit the DMDT seemingly out of nowhere. Deadly Method defeated Kyoko Kimura & Daizee Haze in 13:32 when Dark Maiden defeated Daizee Haze by pinfall with a DMDT. C The cameras cut to the parking lot to show a custom stretch FJ Cruiser pull up and Ayako Hamada, Missy Masterson, Steve Flash, Sean & Tamara McFly, and Simona Cox step out. Simona gives a long, languorous, cat-like stretch and the six walk toward the arena. A Bobcat vs. Tai Purely one-sided contest as Tai showed her unique blend of power and burgeoning technique. The end came when Bobcat tried to hit a flying body press after being irish whipped and Tai caught her and flipped her like a fish into position for her new finisher, the Tai-phoon (fireman’s carry DDT). Tai defeated Bobcat in 14:29 by pinfall with a Tai-phoon. C+ After the match, Emma Evans grabs a mic and says, “Consider yourself on notice. The Rainbow Girls defeated Alicia & Chikayo Nagashima in 13:55 when Kiko Sakakibara defeated Alicia by submission with a Tarantula. C+ The cameras cut to backstage to find Jana Marie Bowen, Kinuye Mushashibo, Phoebe Plumridge, and Farrah Hesketh arguing. “What the hell was that garbage? You’d think the only person managing this team is PHOEBE!” shouts Farrah. A Yoshiko Tamura comes down the ramp and stops and beckons to the curtain and out comes her partner for tonight…….Principessa! C+ Principessa & Yoshiko Tamura vs. Tiana Ringer & Yumi Fukawa With obvious animosity brewing between the main pair, this match turned into pandemonium from the opening bell. Content to beat the hell out of each other, Yoshiko & Yumi never attempted to pin each other, leaving that up to their partners during the short stints they were in the ring. Eventually, the allotted time expired before a victor could be determined. Sable and I were blazing trails in this business before you even considered wrestling.” Linda Miles interjects, “This Sunday, we’re going to whip your asses so bad, you’re going to kiss the feet and the asses of every member of this team. You’re a pair of tits and a uterus. Nothing more.” Missy says, “HEY!”. East Wind drew with The Spice Girls in 14:07 when the referee lost control and stopped the match. B Jim Lou Freebush is backstage with Scout who says, “The great Sean McFly. I guess I should be honored to be getting in the ring with you. But guess what? I’m not. I know you’re looking past me to your big “dream match” with Nemesis. In fact, I’m counting on it. So you’ll just be another person who learns…..Danger Ahead!” C Kaoru Ito vs Wolf Hawkins (c) for the WCW Generation X title Good match that went back and forth as Wolf tried to find a way to solve Kaoru’s changing style. Eventually, he got the cagey veteran reeling and hit the Full Moon Rising. Wolf Hawkins defeated Kaoru Ito in 18:33 by pinfall with a Full Moon Rising. B We cut backstage again to Jim Lou, standing by with Intensity and Phoebe Plumridge, who hype the match with Manifest Destiny at Shock & Awe. In the background, barely noticeable, stands a seething Farrah Hesketh. A* Remianen comes out and addresses Samoan Machine standing in the ring. “So, you want to make demands of me, eh? Okay, you wanted a match tonight, you got a match tonight. Say hello to your opponent, Michiko Omukai.” A Michiko Omukai vs. Samoan Machine Oh.my.God. This was unexpected. These two highly talented workers put on a Japanese style wrestling clinic. All of the holds and reversals and action left the announce team in the dust. Using his significant size advantage, Samoan Machine tried to overpower his opponent. But, using leverage and quickness, Michiko managed to slip out of many precarious situations. Finally, after a dropkick to the knee which brought him to his knees, she hit an extremely stiff Shining Wizard that resounded throughout the arena. Michiko Omukai defeated Samoan Machine in 18:32 by pinfall with a Shining Wizard. A* Sean McFly makes his way to the ring accompanied by Ayako Hamada, Tamara McFly, Missy Masterson, and Steve Flash. A Scout vs. Sean McFly Very entertaining match that went back and forth, showcasing the varied skillsets of Scout & Sean. Finally, after bailing out of a Danger Ahead, Sean reversed an irish whip attempt into the Delorean Driver. Sean McFly defeated Scout in 28:56 by pinfall with a Delorean Driver. A Overall show rating: A

Ayako Ishida: Tonight, we’ll get to see the debut of the new tag team comprised of Ariel & Sumie Sakai who call themselves Stratosphere. Let’s go to the ring! 2 Extreme (Craig Charisma & Flemmy Lemming) vs. Stratosphere Okay, I’m baffled. This match turned out much better than I expected. Between Ariel flying all over the ring and Flemmy trying to keep her grounded, by the time Sumie got the tag and cleaned house, Flemmy was ripe for the Fishermanbuster. Stratosphere defeated 2 Extreme in 13:48 when Sumie Sakai defeated Flemmy Lemming by pinfall with a Fishermanbuster. B Jennifer Heat comes to the ring with Sensational Thunder, where they cut a promo noting all of their success in WCW as a tag team. A Samoan Machine comes to the ring next and puts out an open challenge for anyone in the back to come out and face him. B To the announcer’s (and everyone else’s) surprise, Miss Chevius comes out and accepts his challenge. C Miss Chevius vs. Samoan Machine A surprisingly entertaining match that saw Samoan Machine carry the less capable Miss Chevius through the match, allowing her just enough offense to look dangerous, before locking in the Unbreakable Sleeper. Samoan Machine defeated Miss Chevius in 13:31 by submission with an Unbreakable Sleeper. B The cameras cut to the backstage area to find Cheerleader Melissa & Michelle McCool, Par Excellence, talking to a member of the backstage staff. The camera pans around to reveal Megumi Kudo as the person they’re talking to. A Emma Chase: Next, we have a match sure to be entertaining. Our new WCW Television champion, Saki Maemura, defends her title for the first time against Sachie Abe! C Sachie Abe vs. Saki Maemura (c) for the WCW Television title Back and forth affair that saw several near falls before Saki hit the Hanamaru. Saki Maemura defeated Sachie Abe in 14:29 by pinfall with a Hanamaru. B Jacqui Jones and Dos Apache come to the ring and cut a promo about how ready they are for their tag title match on Sunday. B Samoan Machine comes back out to the ring and says, “That last match just got me warmed up. Are there nothing but cowards in the back? This would never do in DAV….” B Yumi Ohka comes out and accepts his challenge. B- Yumi Ohka vs. Samoan Machine Great match that went back and forth with several near falls. Samoan Machine looked ready to lock in the Unbreakable Sleeper, when Powers of Pain music hit, causing him to turn to the ramp….just long enough for Yumi to roll him up for the huge upset win. Yumi Ohka defeated Samoan Machine in 13:52 by pinfall. B+ Angered beyond words, Samoan Machine tears off running up the ramp to the backstage area where he catches a glimpse of Cherry Bomb running around a corner. He chases and corners her but just before he can get within arm’s reach, Etsuko Mita chop blocks him. While he’s down, the two women beat him so bad, his mother’s womb begins to ache, leaving him a bloody mess. A Tomoko Watanabe vs. Wanda Fish Good match between two talented ladies that ended when Wanda ducked a clothesline attempt and immediately hit a Dish of the Day. Wanda Fish defeated Tomoko Watanabe in 13:34 by pinfall with a Dish Of The Day. B+ The camera cuts backstage where J.Ro is standing by. She says, “This Sunday will see a notable first. That will be the first time I pin Meiko Satomura thus handing her her first loss at my hands. The match will be mildly entertaining, mainly because I, your World Women’s Champion, will be in it. But make no mistake, next week, I’ll still be World Women’s Champion.” A* Fantasy vs. Manifest Destiny Entertaining match that ended when Magdalena interfered (by breaking Katherine’s grip on the bottom rope before the ref saw it) after Annie Social locked in a simple ankle lock. Manifest Destiny defeated Fantasy in 19:28 when Annie Social defeated Katherine Goodlooks by submission after interference from Magdalena. A Ayako Ishida & Emma Chase hype the fact that tonight, we’ll see Sean McFly take on Dark Angel in our main event. A Carl Batch: But right now, the Femme Fatales are in action against Rampage! Rampage vs. Femme Fatales As expected, two supremely talented teams put on a great match. The end came when Christie Ricci caught Malia Hosaka in the CR Gutwrench for the win. Femme Fatales defeated Rampage in 29:02 when Christie Ricci defeated Malia Hosaka by pinfall with a CR Gutwrench. A* Dark Angel vs. Sean McFly Given the long, storied history between these two, there was little doubt they could put on a great match. And that they did, which Sean got the better of after rolling out of a Fallen Angel moonsault and hitting the Delorean Driver. Sean McFly defeated Dark Angel in 29:20 by pinfall with a Delorean Driver. A* Overall show rating: A

WCW Mark of Purpose Saturday Week 1 September 2007 Held in front of 15,000 at the Bi-Lo Center in Mid Atlantic and showing LIVE on MTV. Ayako Ishida, Emma Chase, and Melanie Florence welcome the audience to WCW Mark of Purpose. Wild Phoenix (Larry Wood & Jody Fleisch) come out to the ring with wood. Jody grabs a mic and says, "We've been dominating the pre-show for weeks now and never get a chance to work the worldwide stage. So we're taking initiative right now. Anyone in the back who wants a little action tonight, come on down. Us versus you, tables match!" C- Bethany Hurst comes out and says, "I reckon you're going to regret saying that. Come on, girls!". And with that, a lonesome guitar chord plays as Larry & Jody's faces go white and Christie Ricci & Melody Cuthill, the Femme Fatales, come down the ramp. A Wild Phoenix vs. Femme Fatales, Tables match Umm, wow. In a match largely dominated by the men, their missteps cost them dearly. Jody tried to hit a flying body press but was caught by Christie who put him in position for an extreme version of the Makeover. Femme Fatales defeated Wild Phoenix in 16:54, when Christie Ricci put Jody Fleisch through a table with the Makeover. A  Par Excellence are in the ring, cutting a promo, when April Pennington and her clients, NEO Machine Guns, interrupt. April informs them that her clients will give them their first loss at Shock & Awe. A Ginko Kuroda & Blondie vs Seek & Destroy (c) for the WCW Fate Junior Tag titles In a tuneup for their match at Shock & Awe, Huntress Makiko & Ikuko Temko had no problems dispatching Ginko & Blondie. Seek & Destroy defeated Ginko Kuroda & Blondie in 13:43 when Ikuko Temko defeated Ginko Kuroda by pinfall with a Painkiller. C Simona Cox had an interview hyping the Quintessential Blue Angels' upcoming tag team match against The Outcasts. A Beth Phoenix vs. Saki Maemura (c) for the WCW Television title Despite low expectations, these two ladies put on quite a show. That is, until Saki hit the Hanamaru which brought the show to a close. Saki Maemura defeated Beth Phoenix in 13:47 by pinfall with a Hanamaru. B Mercedes Martinez and Suzanne Brazzle, The Bombshells, are in the ring, cutting a promo, when Alicia Webb and her clients, the WCW Destiny Junior Tag champs Toshie Uematsu and Karen Bilous, Terminal Velocity, interrupt. Alicia informs them that her clients will be walking out of Shock & Awe with all their hardware intact. B Ms.Chif vs. Princesa Sugey Pretty good match between two underutilized talents. With the Twisting Victory Roll, Sugey picks up another victory. Princesa Sugey defeated Ms. Chif in 14:25 by pinfall with a Twisting Victory Roll. B Kayo Noumi is standing by backstage with Sean McFly. "I've heard Nemesis talk about what he's going to do come Shock & Awe. But that's all he's done, talk. We'll see how much his words are worth come Sunday!" A Dark Maiden vs. LuFisto (c) for the WCW Femme Fatale title It became obvious that Dark Maiden's goal in this match was not to win but to soften the champion up for her match with the Angel of the Dark. To that end, she worked limbs as best she could, trying to debilitate LuFisto. But in the end, she fell to the Emerald Fusion. LuFisto defeated Dark Maiden in 28:33 by pinfall with an Emerald Fusion. A Immediately after the bell rang, the lights in the arena went out. When they came back on, the champion found herself surrounded by Acid, Ms. Chif, Dark Maiden, and the Angel of the Dark herself, Raven Nightfall. Soon after, the beating commenced until Nikki Roxx, Manami Toyota, and Jungle Jack came to the rescue. B Kyoko Inoue vs. Mariko Yoshida (c) for the WCW Puroresu title Excellent match between two all-time greats. With a back and forth flow and plenty of stiff strikes, reversals, and innovative submission maneuvers, the end came with an Air Raid Crash. Mariko Yoshida defeated Kyoko Inoue in 29:05 by pinfall with an Air Raid Crash. A* Back Alley Brawlers (Nikki T & Takako Inoue) vs. Intensity (c) for the WCW Fate World Tag Team titles These two teams went balls to the wall, full speed ahead. With frequent tags and a host of innovative maneuvers, there was no clearcut winner. Back Alley Brawlers drew with Intensity in 30:00 when the time limit expired. A* Overall show rating: A* Post show notes - I obviously don't have as good a handle on things as I thought. No way I thought that first match would get an A (I had it pegged for B- at best) since Larry & Jody are midcarders with C overness, even with a hot crowd. High performance skills though. - Also, I think I might've overbooked the PPV. We'll see.
