ECW Abandoned

Recommended Posts

OOC - yeah, it's annoying losing our workers - suppose i should have realised what would happen when i started the scenario. (in retrospect going to war with Raw and Smackdown wasn't the best option, and i probably shouldn't have been to lazy to edit the game to make them one company!) Thanks for the feedback though, and who is this NWO you speak of :p One Month In This is it, crunch time for ECW, as the contract with Sci-Fi is up – will it be extended? It has to be noted that over the last month things haven’t been brilliant and shows have been very hit and miss. That being said, viewing figures have put the promotion on an average of 420,000 so the show should be given at least at least one more season and considering the promotion is making money, should be enough to keep the big names coming in. Major Headlines Things have been very hectic over at Raw with the change in head booker and the big names coming into the brand. Goldberg’s jobbed to the Spirit Squad a hell of a lot, lost an Intercontinental title against Johnny Nitro with his only victory coming over Brock Lesnar in Lesnar's only in ring appearance this month. Edge has successfully defend the WWE title against Triple H and Chris Kanyon. HBK has again begun feuding with Triple H in a team with Randy Orton with H’s partner being Ric Flair. The shows average a B- with Vengeance getting 700,000 buys. Smackdown began the month holding the Smackdown, Deadly Game, PPV (yeah, good name!) and getting 234,000 buys. In a strange twist Chris Benoit returned that night and faced none other than Sgt. Slaughter (he won). It’s averaged a C+ rating without many highlights. Mysterio has managed to muster two title defences, one against Finlay and the other against Rob Van Dam. The Rock’s appeared just once – drawing with The Undertaker and Hulk has taken a beating off Khali in between beating openers. My they really got their money’s worth didn’t they. Austin’s jobbed to cruiserweights and Funk’s been sacked – good career moves lads. TNA started the month off with a massive roster cut and lost one of it’s biggest stars in the form of Rhino jumping to RAW. They’ve managed to resist most of ECW’s attempted talent raids with Impact and Xplosion putting on C+ events. The biggest shock was the sacking of Jerry Lyn although ECW jumped at the opportunity to sign him up. The smallest shock is that Jeff Jarret has defended the title no less than 4 times in a month squashing everyone in the promotion – think he has any say in the running of the company?

Is this going to be the day when Jeff finally establishes himself as a major player in the promotion? The self proclaimed “brightest prospect in wrestling” will be able to further his reputation when Teddy Hart takes on Stevie Richards in singles action. With Richards’ sheer experience this could well be an uncomfortable night for Hart. How long will Forsaken’s run last? Despite losing to Sabu and Sandman, they continued their destruction of ECW originals. The question is, are there any more left to challenge them on this weeks show? The second question is when will Vince recognise their potential and take them back? Big Show vs. Jeff Hardy Teddy Hart vs. Stevie Richards Forsaken vs. ???

Show takes the mike and has a dig at the crowd, as usual, before tearing into someone he describes as being a Matt Hardy wannabe! Show states that he is angry Hall booked him into the match as Jeff doesn’t deserve a title shot. (crowd boos, some agree though) After this Hall takes the mike and announces that in the interests in making the match main event worthy, he is going to book himself as the special guest referee – as a way of motivating Hardy to a better match!!! Rating – B+ vs. Stevie Richards vs. Teddy Hart Before the match it was announced that it DQ’s would be valid as a way of winning the match as this was to test Hart’s in ring wrestling ability. This clearly suited Teddy’s technical abilities with Richards struggling to cope. Towards the end though Richards picked up some momentum only for Hart to hit a low blow, which was missed by the match referee, before locking in the Sharpshooter and getting the submission victory. Winner – Teddy Hart Rating – C and Forsaken are standing in the middle of the ring waiting to see if anyone answers their challenge. Out from the back come Taka and Tajiri who accept their open challenge with the crowd being unsure whether to cheer or boo. vs. Forsaken vs. Taka and Tajiri The match started with Tajiri and Holly going one on one with neither wrestler being able to gain the upperhand until Test laid Tajiri out with a big clothesline allowing them to double team the Japanese buzz saw. That was until Tajiri fought back and nailed both opponents with a series of kicks before tagging in Taka. Taka had the momentum behind him but with the match having descended into madness, Tajiri ended up getting thrown out of the ring by Holly over the top rope and Test nailed Taka with a big boot to seal the victory. Winners – Forsaken Ratings – C for the match and C for the accepted challenge. and After the match we see Kelly walking backstage. Mike Knox stops her and presents her with a big bouquet of flowers. Knox declares his undying love for Kelly and asks her out on a date. Kelly just smiles and walks away stating that she’ll think of it. As soon as she is out of Knox’s view we see her shake her head and walk away. Rating – C We are then presented with a video announcing that former WWE worker Mark Copani (formerly known as Muhammad Hussan) will be debuting in ECW next week! Rating – C- vs. Ken Shamrock vs. Orlando Jordan Despite Jordan being very well known, it was clear that he was no match for this extremely focused Ken Shamrock as the “World’s most dangerous man” again lived up to his reputation, dismantling his opponent. After about 5 minutes of beatings, despite Jordan’s best efforts, Shamrock locked in the armbar and picked up the victory. Winner – Ken Shamrock After the match, Lance Storm comes to the ring and announces that what they have just witnessed has proved Storm right – Shamrock never takes on a challenge. So Storm challenges Shamrock to a match next week where Storm can name any stipulations that he wants… Ratings – C for the match and C for the challenge. and We are taken backstage where Test and Holly are talking about how they are “undefeated” in ECW. Test tells Holly that he sent Vince a letter last week stating that they want back in coupled with a video of their recent exploits. Holly asks Test whether he got a reply and Test states that the package was returned unopened – surely this was just an oversight by Vi… and Out of nowhere Sabu comes crashing down on Holly as The Sandman nails Test from behind with his cane. A minute of Sabu and Sandman beatings results with the two ECW originals standing tall over the arrogant Forsaken. Rating – A for the attack vs. Tommy Dreamer vs. Masato Tanaka In what was a classic hardcore match up, these two pulled out all the stops, brawling through the crowd using a variety of weapons. The only shame was that it lasted nowhere near long enough as Tanaka hit the Complete Dust on Dreamer to pick up the victory in a very even match up. Winner – Tanaka Rating – B- vs. Big Show vs. Jeff Hardy For the ECW World Title Scott Hall as the special guest referee. Hardy and Show put on a top quality wrestling match with both going all out to show their talents. Hardy began with a lot of momentum, using this to his advantage taking it to the Big Show. This advantage was short lived as Show caught him as he attempted a move off of the top rope only to be caught by the Big Show and tossed out of the ring. As the match continued outside of the ring, Hardy took the opportunity to hit a number of spots and used all the weaponry that he could. Unfortunately for him Show kept coming back. As Hardy looked to put Show out of action once and for all, he went to the top rope, ready to perform the Swanton Bomb to the outside of the ring. As he was standing up there, Scott Hall nailed Hardy with a chair shot, sending him to the canvass. Cue the Big Show recovering and chokeslamming Hardy, making the cover and picking up the victory and ECW World Title defence. Winner and still ECW World Champion – The Big Show and After the match Show and Hall clearly aren’t done and continue to pound the hell out of Jeff. Can anyone stop the reign of terror that looks to be unfolding in the promotion? Ratings – B+ for the match and B- for the subsequent attack. The show got a B- overall which was pleasing. Again not enough hot storylines, god damn it.

Tanaka is definitely gonna get a push sooner than later.
Jeff Hardy did something worthwhile.
Any excuse to get Kelly on T.V….
Ken Shamrock vs. Storm next week??? – big twist coming, any guesses?
Mr Not PC returns to wrestling next week

Matches Booked for ECW on Sci-Fi It has been announced that due to Jeff Hardy’s impressive showing in his title match last week, he’ll be rewarded with a handicap match up against Taka and Tajiri. The stipulation being that if he wins, he will get another shot at the Big Show’s title. Show however won’t be resting on his laurels. He has agreed to take on Sabu in a non-title match. Furthermore, Scott Hall has announced that this will be no normal match, no, it will be a lumber jack match up with and the lumberjacks will be picked by Scott Hall on the show. Whilst this seems like a no-win situation for Sabu, a victory tonight will result in him getting a title shot next week. Will Ken Shamrock accept Lance Storm’s challenge to the match up that everyone has been waiting for? Ever since Shamrock’s debut, Storm has clearly been seeking to belittle his reputation – could this be the night when Storm realises why Shamrock has the reputation he has. We will also see the in ring debut of Mark Copani whom hasn’t been seen in wrestling for quite some time. Copani is scheduled to take on Masato Tanaka in singles action with it being interesting to see if this gives an indication as to what Copani’s push will be. Big Show vs. Sabu Jeff Hardy vs. Taka and Tajiri Mark Copani vs. Masato Tanaka ECW’s first big event has been announced to take place before the end of August – just 3 weeks away! It has become clear that when management were talking about using the “biggest of the copyrighted materials” in the WWE they were referring to the event name. That’s right, in a clear two fingers to Vince, the event will be known as ECW Wrestlemania. Expect an ECW World Title match to take place with the possibility of a new title being introduced as well.
