Adam Ryland Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 I wanted to throw this out for public opinion. I was thinking it might be cool to do a web site based on the Cornellverse, done in the style of a wrestling news site. So i might announce that "In a shock move, Lobster Warrior showed up on HGC's TV show last night, and it was revealed his SWF contract had expired the night before", and then you'd be able to download a data update (for TEW and FiSpi) where Lobby is now under contract with HGC. It'd be something to keep the game world dynamic, and add some more depth to the characters. So, basically, to the people who play with the original data: does that sound like something that might be interesting to you?
Carter Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 I'm not sure if I'd use it but their is also ALOT of stattos on the TEW board that would eat it up. It would also give people a creative boost and give the game added increased longevity if it was updated properly.
Jay-D Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 Is an interesting idea, I'm sure alot of guys who use the orginal data would love to get updates for it.
Liamo Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 As a huge fan of the Cornellverse, I'd love to see it happen. It would make the original data more dynamic, as you say, and more life like. It would be as if the promotions actually existed, and we'd be able to get more information on how you intended the promotions to be ran, the characters act, etc.
Unregistered Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 That would be pretty cool, esspecially if it had a few new federations poping up or what not. That would really help set up a whole new experience.
Liamo Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004
That would be pretty cool, esspecially if it had a few new federations poping up or what not. We'd also get to know when SWF or HGC start out doing the other, try to combat each other's moves (i.e. - starting a new TV show), etc. I'm quite excited about this now... :p
Adam Ryland Posted September 8, 2004 Author Posted September 8, 2004 *spoiler* In the new game, HGC doesn't actually exist. Tommy Cornell has bought out the promotion, and renamed it Total Championship Wrestling. :)
Trackersan Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 Hey Adam, First off glad to see you back in action and up and running with a new company. On-topic, I'd love to see this website and be able to download roster updates. I just hope that you also focus on the smaller companies, espcially USPW, let's have them sign Rick Law and Rich Money to a verbal contract so they can really go to the next level.
Adam Ryland Posted September 8, 2004 Author Posted September 8, 2004
I just hope that you also focus on the smaller companies, espcially USPW, let's have them sign Rick Law and Rich Money to a verbal contract so they can really go to the next level.
Part of the story in the updated game world is that USPW got raided, and lost quite a few of their big names (including Law and Money). They've brought in a bunch of new talent like Hell Monkey and Johnny Bloodstone, so they've become more of a youth-oriented promotion, with a lot of guys who could be huge stars. They're one of my favourite promotions in the new version.
TC Dale Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 I like the idea , why not? It adds more to the "immersion" process and puts the person in the world just a little more. A very nice idea.
Dean Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 I like the idea alot, it'll keep people interested for longer if you throw in the occasional 'huge' announcement aswell as alot of small ones. Good idea, plus I like the 'Cornellverse' name. Dean
Carter Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 Looks like a ''yes'' then Adam, better get cracking!!!

Don't reveal everything Adam, it'll be interesting to find everything out.

If you're willing to go into that much detail, maybe you could do some bios for some of the better characters.
King Nate Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 I have mixed feelings about the idea, besides the fact that I hate Cornell, I was wondering how this would effect games in progress? I'm guessing it wouldn't and if not then what's the real point? If I wanted Lobster Warrior to join HGC I would go to the editor and make it happen myself. Games in progress it happens by itself. And what about original data that has been edited in the editor already? I've added all kinds of stuff to my original data already and even changed the names of a lot of stuff I didn't like the name of, including the name HGC. The idea does interest me though.
Andrew J Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 Sounds like a good idea to me, a lot of people would be intrested by it. The idea of using the site as a database for the promotions and wrestlers would be good aswell. (Bios, title reigns, etc)
Monkboon Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 Well, I don't know a lot about the promotions because I'm just now getting into TEW, but I'm all for updates and such, Monk....
Monkboon Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 I used to play EWR a lot until my computer got hacked and dealing with school and the Navy, I didn't have as much time, after fixing it and installing 4 security measures, Monk....
Arsenic Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 Sounds like a pretty unique idea to me. Would add another level to the games and it'd be interesting to see where it would go. I say yes.
Scott McFly Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 Why not, as Arsenic says - it would be pretty unique thing to do, and there's no harm in giving it a shot. If it falls on it's face, then it can be scrapped, but I actually quite like the idea. And Tommy Cornell must be one rich guy if he bought over HGC. :D
jksander Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 Great idea, Adam! I'd enjoy following something like that :)
Jeremy Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 Sounds like a great idea Adam, I'd like to see it in.
professorrev Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 champion That's a pretty cool idea. It'll help to keep everything fresh, but will also be a good jumping on point for any newcomers. I think it's a really good idea.
TommyDreamerFan Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 Sounds like a god idea. One of my complaints about the Orignal Data was that I just couldn't get a feel for the characters, with a website I'd be able to get into the world more.
