PES6 - master league

I must admit i have always preferred FIFA ahead of PES in the past, but PES was only £20 and FIFA was £40 so i opted for pro. The gameplay is pretty good, although i miss the arcade-like action of FIFA. But i have never been able to get to grips with the master league, the menu's are so fiddly and complicated for a newbie. Whats the object of it? Why can you pick a team and have it filled with foreigner's you have never heard of instead of the proper players? Any tips and advice would be welcome, im sure i will like the game if i can crack the master league!

Hey Panix The object of it is just to basically start from the bottom division and work your way up to the top. There is no real set objective and no great reward for doing so. The reason for the random foreigners is because in the first pro evolution game you couldnt start with the normal players in the team and this bunch of amateurs is all you had, and you bbasically had to start from the bottom and buy your way to the top. The feature to have these players as an option was kept in by popular demand I beleive. I have an Xbox 360 and i bought both FIFA and Pro evolution and i've since traded both in. As a Scottish football fan there is no Scottish league in the 360 FIFA game and only 2 Scottish teams in Pro evolution, which is fair enough for a Rangers or Celtic fan but not for a Kilmarnock fan like me. Also in the 360 version they left out all the team editing so you have to be stuck with the fake names such as "manchester Blue" etc. Sorry for going off topic but in short, there is no real point to the master league other than to win the leagues with your team and buy as many big players and superstar youngsters you can. it's fun if you stick with it but the Master League hasnt really had any new features since Pro Evolution 2 so its for hardcore fans really lol. Hope you arent sleeping by now lol.

The object of it is to maintain your team and to succeed as best you can (stating the obvious there :D). Because it's not a series of friendlies you'll have to take into account the players fatigue levels before each game. Plus, the more you play people then their stats will improve, unless they're getting old of course and in which case their stats will decrease so you've got to keep transfers in mind. There's also the money aspect, buy too many good players with high wages and you'll be leaking money left, right and centre so you'll have to keep your eye on your accounts. (I haven't actually even tried the Master League on PES6 even though I had it on release day, all that I mentioned above is from PES5 so there might be other stuff I don't know about)

I read a review on FIFA stating that they were concentrating on the match engine, ball dynamic's etc, in order to give them a good 2nd gen platform to work around for future game's. Oddly in the FIFA demo i have the gameplay is really good but the graphics are suprisingly poor, even though i have a hi-def TV. But hopefully the next FIFA will add EA's usual rediculous amount of teams, i personally would like to see the two teams with the funniest names in football make an appearence: young boys bern and Admira Wacka (SP?)
They left the stat increases out of PES6 for some reason.
They did? Bizarre!!! That was one of the huge selling points of the Master League, grabbing an average youngster and shaping him into the next Cantona! Glad I haven't bothered with the Master League then.... (I only play PES6 for multiplayer games)

I will admit that the retail version of Fifa for 360 the graphics were superb, the gameplay was fast, the ball and player physics were flawless, but the online play was pretty poor which given no Scottish league would have been my only reason for keeping the game but i traded it in for Gears of war which in my opinion is orgasmic off line and sexual online.

One addition i did like was the automatic team selection by picking your offensive and defensive strategies, saved a lot of time and it was always interesting to see how my preffered line up compared to the "best" for that formation.

My mate is getting a 360 just so he can play it. I think the next game i get will probably be fight night3, i downloaded the demo and it seems like a lot of fun with some stunning graphics to boot.
Gears of War is excellent but i'm utterly crap online. Once had my own team laughing at how abysmal I was! :D Panix, you should definitely get Fight Night Round 3, fantastic game. Be prepared for a lot of cheating and annoying tactics by people online though.
Ahh that brings back memories of Halo 2, you know its bad when your own teams killing you :( I might just nip out at lunch and get fight night now lol, does it have a decent career mode taker?

To be honest, I can't really remember the career mode! It's been ages since I played career mode as most of my time playing FNR3 was/is online. You do get to pick and choose your fights aswell as "charity matches" which will unlock other things like arenas, attire etc. Talk about product placement though, Burger King is everywhere and you can even have "The Burger King" from the tv adverts escort you to the ring! :D I warn you though, online you're guaranteed to meet four kinds of people: 1. Stand in the middle of the ring and constantly circle their body. 2. Only try to do the knockout punches. 3. Never throws a punch, only does counter-punching alllllllllllllll the time..... 4. When you've been giving them huge beating and you're about to win, they'll headbutt/elbow/knee you 3 times to get disqualified just to avoid hitting the canvas. Gamespot review: http://uk.gamespot.com/xbox360/sports/fightnightround3/review.html

I try to keep my opponent at a distance with jabs if i can, but some people just want a hug!

I used to do pretty well online playing age of mythology. But i have never really found another strategy game since then that i liked as much.

If you know your opponents got a hard body but with a glass chin, go for the face! Plus you need to know when to hold back and rest for a second to stop your punches being slow and weak. And you don't suck at fighting games.... (see, I never even mentioned THAT ironman match.... whoops.... :D)
If you want cheating tactics have you ever played SVR2007 online? I'm not sure baout you but if I ever went to a live even and all the wrestlers done was closeline- wait til they get up - clothesline - wait til they get up - closeline <-- notice a pattern? lol
At least with those tactics you can always do a reversal though, if you get beat by someone like that then it's your own fault! :p

You can take control of any nation in the world during the 2nd world war. Ever fancied invading Germany with Ireland? Then go for it lol, want Britain to align with Hitler and invade america then do so :), its the most fun you can have with a map screen. Maybe not in size they are girly but to be fair, if you hit anyone at all, even the big show, at the power they are supposedly hitting each other they would be dead in 5 or 6 punches lol. I can just imagine Kanes contract clause "Dressing room must contain pink fluffy pillows and candy floss" I'm extracting the urine of course, Trish Stratus would kick my ass and i'm not ashamed to admit it :)
