All of a sudden, music blares and the crowd goes wild as the 30th and final entrant enters the arena.

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/theoutlaw321/HulkHogan2.jpg

Hulk Hogan

Freddy "Is that who I think it is?"

Gordon "Well it ain't Santa Claus."

The action continues as Hogan makes his way down. He enters and it seems like 10 guys jump on him at once. The Warriors, Valiant, Roberts, Spoiler, both Assassins, Garvin, Bob A, and Paul Jones. Sammartino Jr is tossed over the top by Mosca Jr, but he doesn't hit the floor he pulls Mosca Jr over the top and onto the floor(#6.) King Kong Mosca rams into him and knocks him off the apron(#7.) The Assassin eliminates Rick McGraw(#8.) Rotundo(#9) is eliminated by Brett Wayne. Hogan tosses Assassin #2 over(#10.) Mark Youngblood clotheslines Brett Wayne over and eliminates them both(#11 and 12.) Assassin 1 eliminates Bob A(#13.) Brad A eliminates him (Assassin 1 #14.) And Angelo Mosca tosses Brad out (#15.)

Hogan tosses Bugsy McGraw out (#16.) Mosca and Paul Jones eliminate Paul Orndorff (#17.) The Road Warriors team up to eliminate RR Jones (#18) first and then Patterson (#19.) Valiant and Hogan eliminate Animal (#20.) Garvin dumps Roberts over (#21.) 9 men left as they sort of regroup.

King Kong Mosca, Paul Jones, Hawk, Kabuki, and the Spoiler group up on one side of the ring; and Hogan, Garvin, Valiant, and surprising Tim Horner on the other.

Then they rush each other. Action is hot. Hawk and Mosca team up to eliminate Horner(#22.) Spoiler takes Garvin out (#23.) That basically leaves 5 heels on the 2 good guys. But Valiant and Hogan mount an attack eliminating Kabuki (#24) first then the Spoiler (#25.) Mosca and Jones seem to be working together as they eliminate Hawk (#26.) Now things are evened up 2 on 2. Mosca and Valiant lock up; as do Hogan and Jones. Hogan tosses Jones over (#27.) Valiant takes out Mosca (#28.)

Now the two fan favorites circle the ring and jockey back and forth for a minute or two. When Kabuki appears and comes down the ramp. This distracts Valiant and Hogan rams him from behind to eliminate him and gain the Title shot at the 19:52 mark. He celebrates in the ring as Valiant and Kabuki lock up on the floor. They brawl up the ramp and into the back as Hogan celebrates his win. C+

Gordon "That was an impressive debut Hulk."

Hulk "Yeah, it was Gordon. I can't believe I get to go for the NWA World title."

Gordon "Yes sir. Do you have any idea when that shot will take place?"

Hulk "Haven't heard....." At that he is interrupted by Buddy Rogers who has made his way out on the stage.

Buddy "Hold on a minute. Hold on a minute."

Hulk " What do you want?"

Buddy "We have a problem."

Gordon "What kind of problem."

Buddy "Hogan didn't truly win that shot."

Hulk "What are you talking about? I was the last man standing?"

Buddy "You see there was supposed to be another debut in the Battle Royal, but his plane was late."

Gordon " We all saw Hogan win the match, Buddy."

Buddy "You mean to tell me you aren't going to give my man a shot at earning that title shot?"

Hulk "Dude, YOUR man will have to go talk to Jim about a title shot. I earned mine."

Buddy "Don't tell me you're scared?"

Hulk "I ain't scared of nobody Buddy."

Buddy " Then if you ain't as yellow as that shirt you're wearing, my guy wants a chance at earning that title shot." Challenge B

Hulk "I'll show you who's yellow. Get your guy out here I'll take him on right now!" As he heads for the ring ripping off his shirt. Accept B-

Hogan enters the ring and stands there motioning for whoever Buddy is talking about to come out.

Then as the curtain is pulled back revealing the massive hulking frame of Buddy's man, he has a look of almost horror on his face as he realizes he is about to come face to face with the biggest athlete in the world. The crowd is stunned as 'The 8th wonder of the World' makes his way slowly down to the ring. Hogan realizes that he may have just kissed his title shot goodbye.

Hulk Hogan V. Andre the Giant W/Buddy Rogers

For NWA World Title shot

As Andre enters the ring, Hogan rushes at him and tries to gain the upper hand. But to no avail. As Andre just tosses him back. There may be a day when Hogan is able to handle the big man, but not tonight. Not after eliminating 29 men to earn the shot that he is now in the process of losing. Hogan fights valiantly but he can't over come the size and strength. The Big Man punishes Hogan for the sheer pleasure of it. Finally after butt dropping him 3 times in a row he puts him out of his misery by scoring the pinfall at the 9:53 mark. Andre slowly makes his way up the ramp, pausing briefly at the top to look back on the devastation he has caused. He smiles sadistically as he turns and walks thru the curtain.A

Bob Backlund WWF World Hwt Champion

Match was everything you could have hoped for. This match left no one wondering why these three men hold the World titles in their respective promotions. Backlund got the early advantage as he locked Flair in the cross face chicken wing to get the early submission, to go up 1-0-0 at the 6:45 mark.

As Bockwinkel is still on a knee in the corner, Backlund tries to take advantage of a weakened Flair, but he is caught in a small package and Flair gets the pin fall before Bockwinkel can make the save at the 7:03 mark. 1-1-0

Seeing this as their opportunity, Backlund and Bockwinkel look to double team Flair. They double shoulder block him. Then Bockwinkel whips him into the corner, where he flips up and over the top rope. He falls face first onto the apron and rolls off on the floor. Bockwinkel then catches Backlund and pile drives him. He finishes him off with a Japanese sleeper. To even the score 1-1-1 at the 26:34 mark.

Now instead of taking advantage of the condition Backlund is in he goes after Flair. He pushes him back in the ring and proceeds to work on his legs. He goes over and gives Backlund another piledriver at the 27:23 mark. And then rolls him out of the ring. He slaps the figure four onto Flair and is all poised to go up a fall. Flair struggles and refuses to submit. He makes one last effort to escape by flipping Bockwinkel over and reversing the hold at the 28:45 mark. Bockwinkel is frantic. He fights but taps at 29:25. Flair is is up by a fall.

He struggles to his feet and tries to quickly make a cover on Flair, but he kicks out. He then tries to pin Backlund who has rolled back in the ring. But Flair makes the save. He tries to pin Backlund again, and again is stopped by Flair as time expires.

Flair wins a great match 2 falls to 1 apiece for Backlund and Bockwinkel. A+

When I was a kid, one of the biggest questions was who was the best Champion amongst the big three? Rick Martel of the AWA, Ric Flair of NWA, or Hulk Hogan of the WWF? Back then, I would have said Hogan. Today I believe it was Martel. Of course all of this is besides my point.

My point is, I'm glad I never found out.;)

Now then, that Main Event irked me (for lack of a better term) in so many ways man. It was a good match for sure, but the conclusion just doesn't sit with me. It's just me though as I would have been satisfied had I paid money and only saw a draw. Again, that's just me.

Ultimately, Flair's win was a logical move because the Hulkster just went over big time in the NWA and Andre is over everywhere.

Speaking of which, when Buddy mentioned "his guy", I just knew it was big Dre.

Andre v. Flair for the NWA World Title:eek: ... Where can I get a ticket?

Oh yeah, Piper/Dusty is turning into a great one! A "Blue Collar" War so to speak.

Good Stuff!

EDIT: A question? How does your Buddy feel about his Champion taking that loss for the AWA?:D

We always debated the same thing. But we always included Bockwinkel in the discussion, not Martel. I had wondered how old you were and that paragraph allowed me to correctly predict your age. I think the discussion most of the time comes back to where you grew up and what you watched as a kid. Myself, I would have and will always say Ric Flair. We can argue this and that but it really doesn't matter. I think the argument for the AWA would be better served with Bockwinkel being the focus, but still I would put him third out of the three.

And I will only use World titles from the big three (AWA, WWF/WWE, and the NWA/WCW.) Bockwinkel held the AWA World title 5 times(I know 2 of them were awarded) and the AWA Tag titles 3 times. Martel for the record held only one singles world title, the AWA championship, and held the WWF Tag Team titles 5 times.

Hogan(who I will admit I can't stand, never have never will) held the AWA strap once, the WWF title 6 times, and the WCW title 6 times. The only one in the discussion that held the three respective titles(though has never held the NWA title.) He also held the WWE Tag titles once.

Flair on the other hand has held the NWA World 10 times(11 if you count the other time he won it in PR), the WCW World 8 times, and the WWF title twice for a total of 20(21.) He held the NWA Tag titles 3 times. and the WWE tag Titles 3 times.

I know that Hogan took the industry to heights that it had never seen before. I'll give him that. Anyway there's my rant. Like I said we can argue over it forever and we both would be right. Because it comes down to opinions. I have mine and you have yours(and I wouldn't have it any other way.)

Exactly.

Speaking of which, when Buddy mentioned "his guy", I just knew it was big Dre.
I had laid hints earlier. To see if anyone would pick up on them.

Andre v. Flair for the NWA World Title:eek: ... Where can I get a ticket?
I know someone on the inside. Maybe I'll be able to swing you a ticket.

Oh yeah, Piper/Dusty is turning into a great one! A "Blue Collar" War so to speak.
Hoped someone would like that. Always wanted to see it.

Good Stuff!
Thanks.

EDIT: A question? How does your Buddy feel about his Champion taking that loss for the AWA?:D

We had talked about it. Still don't think he liked it.

Thanks for your input it is greatly appreciated.

Here's the hints I was talking about:

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/theoutlaw321/DanStone.jpg

Huston heads east out of Charlotte for about an hour drive to visit an old friend. Hoping to make a new ally.

Jim C entering Huston's office "Goodmorning. Didn't get in till late last night from Minnesota. Would have called but I figured you needed to sleep. How'd it go in Ellerbe?"

Did I read that right? A hulking figure? Just my prediction...

Prediction correct as far as Hogan showing up. Just not who I was hinting at.

I'll start off by saying, 'Very nice diary!'. It's an interesting layout and I enjoy following it.

But...

Despite the revisionistic claims by whomever owns the AWA now, Hogan has never held the AWA World Title. I guess that is a reflection of your own age, eh? :)

Sure - it's all debatable, but you need to have a level playing field. Listing out Flair and Hogan's title history is entirely unfair to Bockwinkel. After all, Bock didn't work the eras where titles meant nothing. Had he done so, he too would be a former 20-time World Champion.

In the context of 1983, it's a toss up between Flair and Bockwinkel.

As much as I like Backlund, it's almost impossible to lump him into that class. Before McMahon the Elder gave him that WWF title, Backlund's career was somewhat small potatoes - whereas both Flair and Bockwinkel were successful pretty much everywhere they worked.

In short, Bockwinkel rules!

Thanks for your comment about the diary. Coming from you, that is indeed a compliement.

As far as it showing my age, maybe. But I was responding to a comment made by the ismailite. He didn't even list Bockwinkel. And I'll agree with you on technical merit. As Mr. Bockwinkel was a better mat technician, from what little I have saw of him. I'll admit that I have seen less of him then any of the other three mentioned. I'll also mention as if you could not tell that I'm a 'Nature Boy' mark. 4 Horsemen forever! Whooooooooo!(While I'm struting down the hall and back. And even giving a couple of elbows to the invisible guy laying on my living room floor. Whoooo!!)

Anyway. Thanks for providing us old schoolers this great mod. I hope you have some idea of the appreciation we offer up to you for it.

The morning after.

As Huston and Jim boarded the plane from Washington to Charlotte. They were all smiles. Everything had gone just as planned. They had kept Hogan somewhat of a secret(scattered reports had come in especially with the cooperation of Gagne and all.) But the appearance of 'The 8th Wonder of the World' had completely taken everyone by surprise. You don't get much media coverage in Ellerbe, NC so there were no reports of the meeting between old friends Andre and Huston.

Everything, the challenge matches, the continuing feuds, the open tag challenge, the title changes, and what looks like a stroke of creative genius the beginning of the Piper/Rhodes feud all came off well in Huston's mind.

He couldn't wait to get home and see the reports from the night before. And to see if they were to get the call they had been waiting for.

The reports were in. We had definitely started the year off with a bang. An overall show grade of A. With all the matches scoring at least a B, except for the Battle Royal which garnered a C+. 4 A's and 3 A+'s, not bad, not bad at all. Now with a solid start, it's time to make heads or tails out of the lower part of our roster. So now to the beginning of some of the unfortunate business.

Huston had already met with a total of seven workers. George South, Itallion Stallion, Joe Lightfoot, and Mark Starbuck had all been given their releases. He felt that with the roster already clogged he had to start making cuts somewhere. These guys, he felt weren't ever going to be used so there was no need keeping them around.

Next he let Tony Schiavione go. No room for him here. With the talent we have on the mic, he'd be better off somewhere else.

Next he moved on to the referees. 6 were way too many. McGowan wasn't going anywhere. Neither was Tommy Young. He felt that Pee Wee Anderson graded out best of the rest, so he released Stu Schwartz and Nick Patrick. At this point he has decided to keep Teddy Long. He is not going to use him as a ref, but he may have an angle where he comes into play. So for now he stays employed.

Now came the hard one.

A knock is heard at the door. Huston raises his eyes towards the door and says "Come on in Tim."

Tim Woods "Good morning, Huston."

Huston "You did a great job last night Tim. How do you feel?"

Tim "Thanks. Little sore. Just can't take the pounding anymore."

Huston " I understand."

Tim "I'm sure you do.(Smiling) Rumors true?"

Huston "Rumors?"

Tim "Yeah, rumor has it that roster cuts are in order."

Huston "Afraid so."

Tim "Guess I know why I'm here then."

Huston "Sorry Tim. Your contract is up at the end of the month and with the merged roster and the additions, I'm afraid that we just don't have a backstage position for you. But the good news is that I've talked with some people and Verne really could use a good road agent in his promotion if you're interested?"

Tim "Would it have made a difference if I had told you last week that I thought I could have gotten back in the ring regularly?"

Huston "But you said you didn't feel you could."

Tim "I couldn't, I was just wondering if it would have made a difference?"

Huston "Honestly? I doubt it. With your contract up and the need to trim down the roster."

Tim "Well there then. I guess I have a decision to make. Good luck. I wish I could have gotten the chance to work with you longer. I always respected you, you know that right?"

Huston "Yes."

Tim "I don't know exactly what happened and all, I just wanted you to know how I felt."

Huston "Thanks. And good luck Tim."

And with that, Mr. Wrestling left the building.

But I was responding to a comment made by the ismailite. He didn't even list Bockwinkel.
Eh, I didn't mention Bockwinkel because my comments concerned Champions who reigned concurrently from my youth which is why I made the comparison to your match with Backlund/Flair/Bockwinkel. The mistake lies in my lack of clarification. I don't know that Bock held the AWA title at the same time as Flair and Hogan held the titles for their respective companies. I do know that Martel did. I also know at the time, the question was indeed who was better amongst those three (neither Backlund nor Bockwinkel were included). The wrestling mags always had an article juxtaposing those three guys and asking that same question... Who is better? Martel, Flair, or Hogan?

I say Martel was better as far as in-ring skills go. He wasn't greater overall, but he was the better wrestler in my opinion. I say this in hindsight as back then, Hogan was god! Heck, I didn't even know who Bockwinkel was. His face wasn't in any mag I've ever read and if it was, it was forgettable (sorry D.Boone:D ).

Again, the mistake is in translation/lack of clarification as I didn't mean to imply that Martel was greater than the others, just a better wrestler is all.

Now then, onto your diary...

This Piper/Rhodes thing has me marking out! Is seven matches asking too much?

Also,

He couldn't wait to get home and see the reports from the night before. And to see if they were to get the call they had been waiting for.
... Hmmm! Very curious to know who it is that's gonna be on the other end of that call!

I know that Hogan took the industry to heights that it had never seen before. I'll give him that. Anyway there's my rant. Like I said we can argue over it forever and we both would be right. Because it comes down to opinions. I have mine and you have yours(and I wouldn't have it any other way.)

Can we all say we are right? I think so. I believe we could all offer up arguments for each of these guys and we would have people side 4 or 5 ways. It's all about perception. Do I agree with Dr. Boon's ghost. Yes, I would say based on what little I have seen of Bockwinkel that he would get the edge as far as being a more technical wrestler.

What about the ismailite's assessment of Martel. I would say yes to that also. I believe he was more technically gifted than Flair.

Backlund, Hogan the list goes on and on. The point is that I believe we all are trying to make is that it goes back to opinions and personal preferences. We all mark out for different wrestlers and that's how it should be. It wouldn't be any fun if we all liked the same guys. Would it?

The call.....

The phone rang in Huston's office. "Hello."

Jim C "Huston, could you come over to my office?"

Huston "Yes, what's up?" He said as he stood up. Already pretty much knowing what it was about from the tone of Jim's voice.

As Huston walked into Jim's office.

Jim "Well here it is." As he handed Huston a stack of papers.

Huston " Well we figured he would do something. " As he took the stack of papers.

Just as they had expected. A court ordered injunction filed on behalf of the WWF. On the top of the packet was a hand written note that simply said 'Call me when you get this, Vince.'

Jim dialed the phone and put it on speaker dial.

Jim "This should be interesting. Hello, yes this is Jim Crockett, Jr; Vince is expecting my call."

The secretary put him on hold.

Vince M "Jim, I guess you got my message?" Vince's voice came booming over the speaker.

Jim "Yes Vince, what is this about?"

Vince " Don't even try to play dumb with me. I'm not in the mood. You know exactly what this is about. It's about all this crap that you have been pulling down there." His volume rising with each word.

Jim "You need to be specific, and tell me what you're talking about."

Vince "Well I intend to do just that. First of all you sneak in the back door and screw up my deal with Barnett over GCW. Then you go out and sign a lot of my talent under my nose. Then you have the gall to put them on your show holding MY BELTS. I'm here to tell you, that s*** ain't happening anymore."

Jim "Well first all, when we heard of the GCW thing...."

Vince cutting him off "Yeah good ol' Buddy. How's that sack of s*** working out for you? It won't take you long to figure out why he was on his way out before he came to you running his mouth."

Jim "If you let me finish..."

Vince cutting him off again "No you let me finish. It stops now. Backlund cannot appear on the air for you as long as he is still champion here. That means regular TV or ppv. And if you show my belts on air again you violate the injunction. Then I will own you. You are infringing upon my copyrights and trademarks and you will pay dearly for it."

Jim "You only mentioned Bob."

Huston "Doesn't mention them in here anywhere. I figure it's because they work for more than just us and hold titles elsewhere."

Vince "Who the hell is that?"

Jim "Huston."

Vince "Huston, yeah I've heard about you. What are you now, head ring assembler? HA HA!" Laughing at his own joke.

Jim "No, he is my head booker."

Vince "Head booker, huh? You sure there isn't more to it than that?"

Huston "Answer my question. Is that why the injunction doesn't list the others?"

Vince "Pretty good smarta**, yeah that's what it means for the time being. But my lawyers are working on it as we speak. They'll all be out of there soon as they figure out a way to void their deals. And another thing, don't you ever take that tone with me again, talking to me like I owe you something. Do you know who you're messing with? I'm Vince F*****' McMahon and I'll send you back to whatever hole you climbed up out of."

Huston "Let me give you some advice Vince. Maybe you had better make sure you know just who you are dealing with before you start barking instructions to me."

Vince "Is that right? Well Mr. ??? Hell I don't even know your last name. But I'll assure you of this. I will make it my mission in life to find out everything there is to know about you, you pompous a**."

"Hey Jim, just one more question. Have you talked to David today?" And with that Vince slammed down the phone.

They sat for a minute or two without speaking a word. But the looks on their faces told the story. They had yanked on the big dog’s chain. And now it was time to see what was worse; His bark or his bite?

Finally Jim broke the silence "You okay?"

Huston "Yeah."

Jim "He talks alot Huston."

Huston "I know, if he figures it out then he does. I knew when I agreed to get back in this that one day the truth may come out."

Jim "But...

Huston "No but's. What's done is done. What the hell was that comment about David?"

Jim "I don't know. All I know is I haven't heard from him since you knocked him on his butt in here."

Huston laughing "I called Sid and Lil' Larry and they hadn't heard from him so he's not been in the usual hangs."

Jim "Know anyone in NY?"

Huston "I"ll have someone check; we need to figure out just where he is and what he's been up too."

Now, I didn't see Vince coming at all though it had to happen I guess. The premise is great! Speaking of which, how has the WWF been doing with the NWA now monopolizing the territories? Are they still able to hang or are they in a decline? I know the diary is in it's early stages, I'm just curious.

Our little debate aside, this is a very enjoyable read. Very enjoyable! I like a good back story. I like the suspense and hints at things to come in the in-between show write up's especially!

I'm a fan!

Are they still able to hang or are they in a decline? I know the diary is in it's early stages, I'm just curious.

As you can pick up from the diary, I building up slowly. I am trying to show a working thru process with the talent. Hence the low grades at the beginning of the regular shows. As I go thru. The obvious will show thru. Some of the guys will just not make it. I have acquired a lot of talent. The main purpose was for the intial ppv. I have played games in DOTT where I go in acquire everyone. Sysyematically take everyone out and at the end of the first year have ran some pretty big promotions into the ground.(once put WCCW out of business in 9 months.)

But as for the WWF, I have not really went after them yet. I haven’t put their guys in shows on the same night as they are supposed to be working for the other promotions except the night of the ppv. As things heat up. That will probable change.

But to answer your question. They are okay. Starting as they do in any other game played in this great(thanks again Dr. Boon) DOTT world.

Our little debate aside, this is a very enjoyable read. Very enjoyable! I like a good back story. I like the suspense and hints at things to come in the in-between show write up's especially!

I'm a fan!

I appreciate that. And I want to make it clear that, that’s all it was a debate. Nothing what so ever meant to aggravate anyone.

BTW, I like how you are fitting all of the big names under the NWA umbrella. Any plans on the champ taking the strap throughout the territories?

I’ll put it here as well as in a small update to the game world. I lent Flair, Slaughter, and Kernodle to CWF on Tuesday of Wk2. So the answer to your question is yes. When it doesn’t interfere with our schedule then some of the workers will be lent out.

Update from the game world.

On Monday, Huston recieved a call from Eddie Graham (CWF.) Asking to use the NWA World champs. As per the agreement made by the member instituitions in December. Ric Flair, Sgt. Slaughter, and Don Kernodle were sent to Florida to take part in a show put on by CWF in their Endless Summer Beach Tour on Tuesday Wk 2 from the Livestock Expo Center(Southeast.)

Results:

Ron Bass defeated Don Kernodle to retain the CWF TV title.

Ric Flair defeated Jake Roberts to retain the NWA World Hwt Title.

And in what I felt was a surprising move:

Sgt. Slaughter defeated Barry Windham for the NWA Southern Hwt Title.

(which was then vacated the next morning when he came back to our promotion for the Wed show?)

Updates from the game world Week 3 Jan 83.

A few updates from the game world.

On Tuesday Wk 3. We releashed Bruno Sammartino Jr. and Johnny Rich. We wish them well in their furture endeavors.

Also, on Tuesday we signed Announcer Gordon Solie to a contract extension. His deal was up next month. We are glad to keep our voice with the company.

On Tuesday we okayed Ric Flair, Sgt. Slaughter, and Don Kernodle to return to Fla to work CWF's Tuesday night show. Odd thing happened again as given the freedom to have Flair defend the title against anyone of their choosing. They again chose to have him defend it against one of our workers. As he successfully defended the title against Sgt. Slaughter. They chose not to use Kernodle even after they asked for him. Go figure.

Also, Mr. Wrestling signed on as a road agent with the AWA. We are pleased that worked out.

Roddy Piper

Well it lived up to its billing. Excellent chemistry. Back and forth affair that saw Piper attempt to hit Flair with a chair only to have his head rammed into the ring post on the outside. The match ended when Flair rolled Piper up in a small package to score the pin fall at 18:56. A+

Overall show grade B+

Attn : 7762

Money $1252610(+160310)

Notes:To say I'm disappointed in the show grade is an understatement. All 6 matches in the main show scored A's(including 3-A*'s.) At no point during the show did the crowd give any hint at any displeasure about anything going on. Oh well. It increased our popularity.
