I'm not talking about Strong being Hogan (though that is pretty obvious), I'm talking about deeper things. For example, Franky Perez is really a guitar-playing musician. Also, Dan DaLay is a variation of Dan LaDay, a UK TV presenter. Can anyone think of some more? or can Adam tell me If I'm right or it's just a coincedence?

Never heard of Dan LaDay either, what on earth does he present?

You could do the same things with real world wrestlers too, if you really wanted, so character names reflecting other parts of life seems very reasonable and appropriate in a created wrestling world, in my opinion. Steve Austin was the name of "The Six Million Dollar Man". Lex Luger is very similar to Superman villian Lex Luthor. Shawn Michaels was also the name of a porn star. Booker T compares easily with Mr. T. Rob Van Dam has similarities to Jean Claude Van Dam. Just to name a few.

Jean Claude Van Damme is the correct spelling, and Booker T. Huffman is the guy's real name ;) I agree with the other three though.

OK, I missed spelled Jean Claude's last name, but definitely a similarity. In fact, I think RVD mentions on his DVD that a promoter named him that because of a resemblance in look, and the martial style that he uses in the ring. And I know it is Booker T's real name, and I added him in more as a joke. But there is definitely some similarity between his character and Mr. T, plus I'd imagine that Mr. T did at some point play a role in him being Booker T, rather than some other variation of his name.
... plus I'd imagine that Mr. T did at some point play a role in him being Booker T, rather than some other variation of his name.
Actually, there is a blues musician by the same name: Booker T. (Jones) and the MGS - who probably took his name from Booker T. Washington. I wouldn't be surprised if Huffman was given the name in connection with either of these two gentleman. Perhaps Mr. T was an influence, but I'd think the above people were more directly influential.

You're probably right, now that I give it more thought, I'm thinking that Booker T started wrestling before Mr. T was even popular or well known. So its possible Mr. T wasn't even an influence on it. As I said, I was using his example in a more joking manner, but I still believe there is some Mr. T-like attitude in Booker T's character, especially as his popularity grew near the end of WCW and through his WWF/E days as he gained more mike time.

Adam, I'll just ask to get it out of the way, but would there be any way to talk you into releasing your random name generator along with TEW 2005? As someone who likes to play with the editor and make my own scenarios, I'd be really interested in a customizable name generator. Just a suggestion/plea ;-)

I'll look into releasing it, but it won't be until after TEW2005 comes out I'm afraid, as at the moment it's tied in to the TEW2004 code, and it'd take quite a while to un-tangle it - not something I really have the time to do at the moment.
