The match was very even and though all four men worked hard, they just failed to ignite the crowd who expect a bit more of a faster pace from the Juniors. The match was won when Maita took out VENOM with a vicious looking Assasination Attempt (Running Knee) and the sheer impact of the move was enough to keep the masked man down for the Ten Count. Even though this was not officially announced as a Contenders match Maita & Takemitsu will now get a title shot next week for the Junior Tag Titles. Result: Mokuami Maita and Kenko Takemitsu defeated Shiomi & VENOM in 9:59 when Mokuami Maita knocked out VENOM. Rating: C ________________________________________________________ Match # 2: Openweight Title: Rhino Umaga vs Champagne Lover vs Like the previous match, it was technically solid and did not have much wrong with it, but it just lacked that bit of spark to get the crowd really into it and take it to that next level. The match basically took a cat and mouse sort of storyline, with Umaga trying to dominate Lover with his superior power, and the Mexican using his agility and ring-craft to keep out of the way of the rampaging Samoan . Whenever Umaga was exposed, Lover attacked and in particular he tried to work over Umaga's right arm to set him up for the Champagne Breakfast, however try as he might to get the submission locked in, Umaga always had enough power to work his way out of the submission hold before Lover could lock it on properly. Eventually Umaga's power advantage began to really count and Lover who had the agility to get out of the way of the Samoana's attack's was starting to look worn down and when he was levelled with the Rhino Charge, there was never any doubt that Rhino Umaga would be making another succesful defence of the Openweight Title. Result: Rhino Umaga defeated Champagne Lover in 13:29 by pinfall Rhino Umaga retains the Burning Openweight Championship title. Rating: C+ Rhino Umaga celebrates another succesful title defence _______________________________________________________________ A tribute video is shown promoting Junior legend Optimus, as his farewell tour starts kicking into gear. Rating: C+ Match # 3: Optimus vs Super Joshuya vs Both of these former Junior Champions may of lost a step in recent years, but the crowd still lapped this match up, and Optimus and Joshuya responded by putting on a solid match. Optimus in particular appears to have found a new found fire and focus, that perhaps he was lacking over the past couple of years. It's as if he wants to go out on a high note, putting on good performances and top quality matches right and up until his very last match, which will be at Test of Prophecies. The finishing sequence saw Super Joshuya nail Optimus with the J-Drop (Pumphandle Drop) and it looked like Optimus would be handed a loss as he moves towards his final match at Test of Prophecies, but Optimus kicked out, and not only did he kick out he also managed to lock in the Optimizer (Reverse Figure Four Leg-Lock), Super Joshuya almost reached the ropes but Optimus pulled it back in, and eventually Joshuya had no choice but to tap out. Result: Optimus defeated Super Joshuya in 11:04 by submission. Rating: B Afterwards Joshuya struggles back up to his feet, he goes over to Optimus and has the good grace to offer his hand as a sign of respect to the Junior Division legend, the two competitors then embrace and Joshuya raises Optimus arm aloft to a good ovation from the crowd. Just as Optimus is going to do some kind of emotional speech , the Junior Division champion Sensational Dragon comes out and levels Optimus with the Junior title belt. Sensational Dragon then grabbed a mic, and said something about him being the future and that Optimus was an old man and that he should not wait until Test of Propehcies to retire but that he should retire now. As expected the crowd did not take too kindly to this and felt disgusted by the Junior Champions disrespectful actions. Ratings: C for Respect between Optimus and Super Joshuya, C- for Sensational Dragon's attack with the belt, D- for Dragon's self centred rant ____________________________________________________________ Match # 4: Yasunobu Masuno vs Bulldozer Brandon Smith vs If anything it's the lack of selling that really lets Bulldozer Brandon Smith down, and I'm starting to think that maybe I got a bit carried away looking at his excellent Physical skills and that perhaps some time in the Hinote Dojo would have done him good, and as Masuno is very similar to Smith very good Physically but lacking in terms of ring psychology and selling, this was always going to end up being a hard hitting but not particularly well worked contest. The finishing sequence saw the two men exchanging elbow and fore-arm smashes, until Brandon Smith could take no-more and ended up falling to a big Lariat from Masuno that took him off his feet and down and out on the canvas for a ten count. Result: Yasunobu Masuno defeated Bulldozer Brandon Smith in 9:36 when Bulldozer Brandon Smith was knocked out. Rating: C- _______________________________________________________________ Tetsuzan Kaneko catches up with Burning World Champion Hiroaki Nakasawa backstage, who runs through his opponents for the night in the non title 4-way. Nakasawa basically said just because it's a non title match, that would not mean he would taking a night off and taking any of his opponents lightly. He went to to add that he was not prepared to give any of his opponents a psychogical advantage, as it is highly likely he could be face any of those three Horri, Shimedzu, Kudo somewhere down the line over the Burning World Championship Rating: B- ________________________________________________________________ A video plays hyping the Tag Title match between The Raging Bulls vs Ino & Tosushai, it puts over the fact that this is Ino & Toshusai's final chance to regain the titles from Raging Bulls. Rating: C Match # 5: Tag Team Titles: Raging Bulls (Eiji Hamacho & Chuichi Sanda) vs Koshiro Ino & Tadakuni Tosushai & vs & There was a general feeling in the air from the very start of this match, that the Raging Bulls would not be dropping the titles back to the former champs, and though Ino & Toshusai, got in portions of offence it all felt rather academic. It was a solidly fought match and the Bulls are a very solid tag team, who whilst not the flashiest, know how to work together and do it a no nonsense, no remorse heavy hitting business like manner. The finish came when Toshusai was first of knocked senseless by an elbow smash from Eiji Hamacho, and was then nailed by an Explosion Kick from Chuichi Sanda. Interestingly enough Koshiro Ino who could have made the save, barely made an effort to save his partner. Result: Raging Bulls defeated Ino & Toshusai in 11:38 when Chuichi Sanda defeated Tadakuni Toshusai by pinfall. Raging Bulls retain the Burning World Tag Team titles. Rating: C+. After the match as the Raging Bulls are celebrating, Koshiro Ino goes over to his partner Toshusai and tells him that this tag team they had together was fun whilst it lasted, but it was now time for Koshiro Ino to go to that next level. Toshusai asked why they can't go to that next level together. Koshiro Ino replied quite simply, that Toshusai was not ready yet, and that he was. Toshusai now slightly incensed said that he wil show Ino that he is ready, and that he was not the weak link in their team. Rating: C ________________________________________________________________ Tetsuzan Kaneko is with Hooded Kudo this time. Kudo said it was time that the rest of the Burning Hammer roster was served notice, that he was no longer prepared to see men inferior to him, challenge for the World Title, it was about time Kudo was a World Champion once again, and that tonight he would put himself back in prime position by winning this four corner survival match. Rating: B Notes: What came out of Kudo's mouth wasn't all that exciting, but he's one of the best talkers (if not the best) on the roster, and he has a charisma (lacking in most of the roster) to make even the most routine promo's sound interesting. _______________________________________________________________ Another hype video is show for the 4 Corner Survival involving Nakasawa, Kudo, Horri and Shimedzu that would be main eventing tonight show Rating: B- Match # 6: (Non Title) 4 Corner Survival: Hiroaki Nakasawa vs Hooded Kudo vs Kinnoji Horri vs Shimedzu vs The one criticism I would level at these 4 corner survial matches, is the first half of them tend of feature the competitors feeling each other out, whilst the other 2 looked in and the early and much of the middle portions of this match suffered from that fact, as each competitor did not want to be the first mant to make that mistake or give one of their opponents that opening. After 14 minutes of technically solid but not really adrenalin pumping action, the match finally kicked up a notch when Kinnojo Horri took Shimedzu's head off with a Burning Lariat, only for Kudo to make the save and from there the match really kicked up a notch, with near-fall after near-fall. Kudo went close with a Kudo-Driver '99 (Cross Arm Pile-Driver) on Shimedzu, Shimedzu got near-falls on Kinnoji Horri after a spin-kick and a frog-splash whilst Nakasawa went close are an H-Bomb on Shimedzu and a Nakasawa Neckbreacker on Hooded Kudo. An exciting finish saw Kinnojo Horri knock Nakasawa right out of his boots with an Upper-cut, elbow smash, Burning Lariat combo...however just as Horri was about to make the pin, Shimedzu came in levelled him a spinning-heel kick, before following up with a spike-DDT..Shimedzu went for the cover, but it was broken up by a Moonsault from Hooded Kudo ! It was now down to Kudo and Shimedzu as Nakasawa and Horri were still; feeling the effects on the out-side. Shimedzu hit a very smooth looking kick-combo on Hooded Kudo and was setting him up for the Shimedzu skull-drop but Hooded Kudo, managed to turn it block it and sent Shimedzu down back-first with an Uranage back-breaker. Kudo though knew that would not be enough to put Shimedzu away, so he willed Shimedzu back to his feet...Shimedzu bounced off the ropes towards Kudo, but Kudo managed to side-step his attack and then he nailed Shimedzu with the Kudo-Kutter...a now recovered Nakasawa tried to get back in time to break it up, but it was too late as the referee couned to three. Result: Hooded Kudo defeated Hiroaki Nakasawa, Shimedzu and Kinnojo Horri in 22:41 when Hooded Kudo defeated Shimedzu by pinfall . Rating: B The show closes with Hooded Kudo celebrating his victory ______________________________________________________________ Overall: B- : There were unfortunately too many mediocre matches on this show, and though the main event was solid it wasn't good enough to raise this show above being a slightly disappointing B minus. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ T.V News: Ironclad drew a 15.07 rating opn TV5 Monde (Down 0.28) I't's not panic stations just yet, but I really do need to put on some stronger shows next week, before ratings continue to decline any further. I'm confident what I have on tap going into the Test of Prophecies PPV are much stronger shows and will be able to turn the rating decline back round.

Take for example Chuichi Sanda, he may be one half of the tag champs now, but if he were to go after a singles title, he's not good enough for the main event, but he is good enough for a mid-card title...however with this current age limit, he is too old for the Openweight Belt. This wasn't exactly a classic in the making , but it was more solid than many of the matches Rhino Umaga has had for the Openweight Title. Sanda got in some good offence, but in the end he fell victim, as so many others have before him to the unstoppable Rhino Charge. Result: Rhino Umaga defeated Chuichi Sanda in 9:22 by pinfall. It was Hamacho though who had control of the match early on as he used his superior power advantage to toss around Miyamae from pillar to post , earning close near-falls with Spine-buster and a Gut-Wrench Suplex...however Miyamae managed to turn the match around, when on the outside he managed to reverse a Power-Bomb attempt from Hamacho into a DDT, that sent Hamacho crashing head-first onto the floor. After Miyamae got back into the ring he decided to expose one of their turnbuckles, in the end Hamacho already feeling groggy from the DDT, was sent head-first into the exposed turnbuckle, and was left with a gash across his fore-head.... Miyamae then duly took advantage by wearing down Hamacho with a variety of kicks and strikes, before finishing him off with the Miyamae Spoiler (Hangmans Face Buster), which really would have been made worse by Hamacho's splitting head-ache. Result: Miyamae defeated Eiji Hamacho in 12:55 by pinfall. Rating: B ______________________________________________________________ Tetkuzan Kaneko, catches up back-stage with World Champion Hiroaki Nakasawa. He ask's Nakasawa who he would like to face at Test of Prophecies...Nakasawa said that any of them Kudo, Shimedzu or Horri will provide him with a tough examination at Test of Prophecies, but he also said he was more determined thatn ever to hold onto his World Title. This just felt very routine, as though Maita & Takemitsu were able to get in offence, they were never able to convert that into near-falls. It was all over in just under 11 minutes when Kenko Takemitsu was taken down by a Tornado DDT from Kansuke Konda. This match was basically just a brawl, but it was an entertaining one at that. The basic story was that Ino was always in control, but Toshusai had no quit in him as he showed a lot of fire by soaking up whatver Ino threw at him and coming back with flurries of his offence of his own. Who knows how long they could have kept duking it out for, as neither man was willing to back down, had it not been for the intervention of Silver Dragon Feet Leader Hooded Kudo. Kudo came up onto the ring apron and much like Hiroaki Nakasawa was a victim of a misting attack, Toshuasi fell victim to the same thing and as a blinded Toshusai turned around he was finished off by a Back-Snapper from his former tag partner. Result: Koshiro Ino defeated Tadakuni Toshusai in 8:15 by pinfall with a Back-Snapper. Rating: B After the match Kudo and Koshiro Ino embrace and Kudo raises the arm of his 'protege' in victory, it certainly looks like Silver Dragon Feet is still alive but by disposing of Toshusai they have sent a message that they will no longer be carrying hangers on...at-least that is what it looked like...... Suddenly just at they were leaving the ring, Kudo blew some Mist into the face of Koshiro Ino, he then stunned Ino with the Kudo-Cutter. With Ino laying in the ring Kudo, then set up a table at ring-side. Kudo then dragged Koshiro Ino up to his feet and sent Ino crashing through the table with a Proto Kudo-Driver (Sit-out Scoop Slam Pile-driver). The match started with Elemental II going up against Awesome Kiyaru, the two put on a fast past exchange of counter wrestling until Elemental II tagged in Optimus, Optimus then pointed towards Sensational Dragon , who really did not want in on the match, but Kiyaru decided to do the right thing and tag in the ****y young champion. Dragon entered the ring by spring-boarding over the rope and then doing a standing somersault just to show off, however Optimus was not ina mood for Dragon's silly games and immediately knocked some sense into Dragon with a palm-strike, before taking Sensational Dragon to wrestling school for the next 3 minutes. Optimus then got Dragon up for a Power-Bomb, but Dragon countered it into the Sensation Shock. The referee counted one, two....thr...No ! Optimus kicked out much to the astonishment of Sensational Dragon. Optimus then managed to stagger across to his corner to tag in Elemental II. After a brief exchange Dragon tries to set up Elemental II for the Dragon Slice but Dragon manages to reverse it into a standing switch and then an Elemental Suplex for a two count, he then follows up with the Elemental Driver.....just as it looks like Elemental is going to put Dragon away...The Awesome Kiyaru breaks up the pin with a Shooting-Star Press. Elemental II and Kiyaru take it up top. where Kiyaru is able to pull of a Moonsault, Optimus then comes in and breaks it up. Optimus then took Kiyaru to the outside , where he Power-Bombs Kiyaru across the railings....Elemental II then came flying over the top rope with a Handpsring somersault. The moves they are pulling off here are absolutely ridiculous but the crowd is lapping it up , Sensational Dragon is now up on the top turnbuckle...and takes everyone out with a picture perfect Shooting Star Press. As they recover and return to the ring it's down to Dragon and Optimus. Dragon gets Optimus in trouble with a lighntning fast combo of kicks, hower Optimus counters with a Dragon screw leg whip and he then locks on the Optimizer (Reverse Figure Four)...Dragon tries to get to the ropes but Optimus drags it back into the middle of the ring. Elemental II comes out and stands guard to make sure that Kiyaru is not going to break up the submission hold... Sensational Dragon actually starts to turn the submission into his favour, it's now Optimus who is struggling to hold on, but Optimus uses his size advantage to get the leverage back his way....this time Dragon has no fight left in him and has no choice but to tap out. The match started off with alot of tension between the 3 men , Kudo then decided that he and Horri should team up on Shimedzu. However Horri let his intentions known that not only was he after the title shot himself but also that he wanted nothing left to do with his Kudo, by nailing Kudo with the Burning Lariat. However Shimedzu then nailed Horri with a super-kick. Shimedzu then went for a cover but Horri managed to kick out, Kudo then decided to roll out of the ring and bide his time on the outside, leaving Shimedzu and Horri to pretty much go at it one on one. As Kudo bided his time on the out-side they both had close near-falls as Horri went close with a release German Suplex and Shimedzu went close with a Moonsault after a nailing Horri with a Kenka Kick. As Horri was gaining the upper hand on Shimedzu he realised he Kudo was spending too much time on the out-side resting up and recharging his batterries so he decided to charge at Kudo, knocking Kudo off the apron, Horri then decided to follow Kudo to the outside, and as they exchanged blows he was able to nail Kudo with a pile-driver on the floor outside, as the referee counted.....Shimedzu decided to climb the top turnbuckle, and went for a flying cross-body on Horri, however Horri caught Shimedzu and tossed brought him crashing down with an over-head press-slam. Horri & Kudo then dragged themselves back into the ring. Horri went for the Burning Lariat but it was blocked, then he tried to get Kudo up for the Destiny Bomb, but Kudo blocked that and took down Horri with an STO, he then followed with a Facebreaker Knee Smash, before locking on the Kudo -Lock (Reverse STF). Horri powered his way out of the Kudo-Lock but literally had no energy left when Kudo was able to kick him down low and then set him up for the Kudo-Kutter and as the match was fought under elimination rules a now recovered Shimedzu happily let the referee count to three at 16:17 Shimedzu then came in like a house on fire taking Kudo off balance with a combo of Kicks, this then saw Kudo slump the corner , which saw Shimedzu add insult to injury with the corner to corner face-wash. However all that seemed to do his fire-up Kudo, who started to no-sell what Shimedzu was throwing at him, all of a sudden Shimedzu was in a whole heap of trouble, as Kudo backed Shimedzu into a corner and then started cutting him down with a series of machine gun-like chops... Shimedzu then slumped to the floor and Kudo followed up with the Proto Kudo- Driver...one, two...no ! , Kudo then tried to go for the Kudo Kutter but Shimedzu managed to block it and took Kudo down with a side Russian leg-sweep. Shimedzu then decided to up top and was looking to pull off a moonsault, but Kudo managed to follow him up and brought him crashing back-down with a belly to back suplex, Kudo then followed up with a Death Valley Driver for a two count, before locking on the Kudo-Lock, it looked all over for Shimedzu, but somehow he managed to roll through and pinned Kudo's shoulders to the mat for a full three count at 23:49, much to the disbelief of the Burning Legend as once again Kudo was denied an opportunity to challenge for the Burning World Title. Result: Shimedzu defeated Kinnojo Horri and Hooded Kudo in 23:49; the order of elimination was Kinnojo Horri first, and finally Hooded Kudo.
Should of been B+ surely by the strength at the top of the card, Unlucky. Those 4 Super Junoirs are the MVP's of BHOTWG.
It's a shame that Optimus is about to retire, because he has been absolutely immense in his last few outings. Hopefully someone can step up from the Junior Mid-Card after he hangs the boots up. If anyone is wondering about the new Kudo pic, is my dodgy render of what he would like if he look once he had taken the ceremonial hood off ....There's no way he would be wrestling with that ridiculous Samurai Hood. Then again as the Hooded Kudo character, I would not buy him with just his normal look, hence the scary face paint.

Purogods.com Two more matches have been added to Wednesdays show in Kanto. Marahito Masuko will face Super Joshuya, as both try to regain form amongst the Junior ranks. Whilst Size of the Fight will once again put their Junior Tag Titles on the line but this time against 3 other teams....Takemitsu & Maita, VENOM & Shiomi and finally Kiyaru & Scorpion. News coming from Burning Hammer is that Kokan & Konda requested this match themselves, as they wanted to send a message to the Raging Bulls by showing their dominance over the rest of the Junior Tag Division. Have Kokan and Konda bitten off more than they can chew or will they go into Test of Prophecies with even more momentum behind them ? , as they set out to prove themselves as the best tag team in Burning Hammer.

Masuko has fallen down the pecking order since losing the title, and Super Joshuya was granted a pretty routine title shot at the beginning of the month but hasn’t really looked anywhere near being a genuine challenger for the Junior Title for a while now. However this was a good opportunity for one if not both of them to really impress and put in the sort of performance that would make me notice them, but they failed to do that, instead only putting on a competent but hardly spectacular showing. The match did a good job of further putting over Size of the Fight as the dominant force in the Junior Tag Division and how there are no more challenges left for them. The match itself was solid but a little bit messy in places, with the early portion of the match featuring some high-spots that looked spectacular, but made little sense, an example of this was Kiyaru doing a moonsault to the outside onto six other competitors…it looked a bit silly as they all waited there for him to fly on top of them., Shiomi & Venom were first to go, when Shiomi fail victim to the Canada-2-Japan from Kenko Takemitsu (Cobra Clutch Suplex) at 6:47 However it was Takemitsu who would be taking the next pin-fall as he fell victim to Kansuke Konda’s, Konda Driver at 9:05 Naturally the final portion of the match, was where the match started to pick up a little bit more. The finish saw Golden Scorpion nail Hyosuke Kokan with the Scorpion Stinger , but was himself immediately nailed with the Konda Driver from Kansuke Konda. The Awesome Kiyaru then sprung into the ring and took down Konda with a Tilt-A-Whirl head-scissors….however Konda powered his way of the pin attempt and then dumped Kiyaru on his head with a Dragon Suplex. Konda then tagged in Hyosuke Kokan who came off the top rope with the Cannonball and that was enough to earn victory at 14:35. Result: Size of the Fight defeated Kiyaru & Scorpion, Shiomi & VENOM and Maita & Takemitsu in 14:35; the order of elimination was Shiomi & VENOM first, then Maita & Takemitsu, and finally Kiyaru & Scorpion. There was a brief feeling out process before Optimus started to gain advantage and once again started to take the young champion to a wrestling clinic as he kept Dragon grounded with his well rounded technical skill, this eventually led to Optimus trying to lock on he Optimizer, but Dragon managed to get to the ropes…. Dragon then went for a powder on the outside, Optimus followed him out and sent him back-first into the guard-rail with an irish-whip….Optimus then tried for a power-bomb but that proved to be a mistake as Dragon stunned him with the Sensation Shock out on the floor. As Dragon waited back in the ring, Optimus managed to break the referees count at 15 , but it was Dragon who was now in control, and he earned close calls with a springboard moonsault and a Dragon Suplex…however on that Dragon Suplex pin-fall Optimus managed to reverse it into a pin-fall attempt of his own before getting the Optimizer locked on, right in the middle of the ring. Sensational Dragon was in a whole world of trouble, but somehow he gathered up enough strength to turn Optimus over, and put the pressure onto Optimus, Optimus then managed to counter by rolling through into a pin attempt, this saw Dragon kick out an break the hold. The two warily got up onto their feet, and went back and forth against each other until Optimus was able to gain the upper-hand with a palm strike and a corner to corner running power-bomb….this led to Optimus going up top as he looked to finish off Dragon with the Ozone Sky-Flier but he took too long climbing the turnbuckle, giving the champion enough time to get back up on his feet, race up the turnbuckle himself and bring Optimus crashing in with a Super Dragon Slice. Surely that would be enough to see Dragon retain but Optimus kicked out , another exchange followed before Dragon tried to roll up Optimus, Optimus then rolled through into a pin-fall of his own, before Dragon was able to nail Optimus with a Dragon Suplex….. Dragon then decided to go high-risk and it looked like the risk would not pay off as Optimus caught him in mid-air, and it looked like Dragon was about to be sent crashing down with a power-bomb, but as he does so often he managed to counter it into the Sensation Shock, Dragon had Optimus shoulders pinned down..... But somehow Optimus managed to roll through and now it was Dragons’ shoulders pinned to the mat, the referee counted one-two….but Dragon managed to roll through into a pin-fall himself and this time managed to get a strong enough pin-fall for the referee to count to three. Despite a valiant effort Optimus was unable to gain a ninth Burning Junior Title. Result: Sensational Dragon defeated Optimus in 15:39 by pinfall.
It's a shame that Optimus is about to retire, because he has been absolutely immense in his last few outings. Hopefully someone can step up from the Junior Mid-Card after he hangs the boots up.
Golden Scorpion could be your man. What I did was steal Eagle Kawasawa (His Progete) and had him defeat Optimus in his final match to get him over, soon after TCW fell to cult and released American Elemental also!!!

With the Best of the Super Juniors Cup scheduled to end the tour in June, I'll be looking to boost the Junior ranks during that month and the likes of Kawasawa & American Elemental fit the criteria.

I'm glad Optimus/Elemental II turned out as good as it did. I haven't played Burning Hammer, and I didn't really know how it was going to turn out. Great stuff so far (I can't believe I haven't commented yet) and keep up the good work.

O.O.C Post As ever thanks for the kind comments, they are always encouraging and it's always nice to know what I'm writing is being read. I'm sure this goes for any diary writers on the board. The thing about Optimus is that he was originally going to turn heel along with Hooded Kudo, as the Silver Dragon Feet Veterans dumped the youth Koshiro Ino (though he's not that young) and the ill-fitting Kinnojo Horri (I really don't get why he was part of that stable). But with Optimus announcing he was going to retire , that plan went out of the window as I did not think it was fitting he should retire as a heel. I did dabble with the idea of having Optimus win the Junior Belt one more time and then retire with it, but my feeling that there was no need for that, instead I just decided to put the idea of him winning the belt one more time out there but not pulling the trigger on it. I felt the final 3 matches for Optimus worked really well. The tag match with Elemental II against Sensational Dragon & The Awesome Kiyaru, by having Optimus force Dragon to tap out it established him as a genuine threat for Dragon's Junior Title. The title match between Optimus and Sensational Dragon, was the sort of great match Sensational Dragon needed to help establish a title run that had been a little bit mediocre thus far, it was a really worked match that kept Optimus looking strong but ultimately put the 'future' of the Junior Division over. I felt there was no more fitting opponent for Optimus on his final match than Elemental II...the second incarnation of his oldest rivarly. Two men who helped pioneer the Junior Division going up against one another for one last time. The match pretty much sells itself and did not need to be over a belt. I always felt it was most fitting to send Optimus out with a win and I felt Elemental II could absorb the loss as he is established enough and would be able to bounce back from it, that and I'm trying to build up the younger end of the Junior divison and not to fall back on putting the Junior Title on the old-timers. Anyway I've run off the next months worth of events on TEW 2007.All I will say is that things go to the next level, where it all leads to the biggest show-down so far of the year.

Purogods.com Here we take a look back over the 25 year career of Optimus, who wrestled his last professional match at the Test of Prophecies event for Burning Hammer,as he was given a fitting send off in the main event against long time rival Elemental II. Optimus made his debut in BHOTWG in February 1982, at the age of 23 (TBC). That may seem quite a late-start for such a talented wrestler, but the actual identity of Optimus has always remained a mystery, though it's strongly believed that he could well have made appearances with Burning Hammer but without the mask as a junior enhancement talent that paid their dues and gave the star performers of Junior Wrestling at the time easy wins. Several lower end Junior heavyweight's of the day have been bandied about as being Optimus...the most prominent between Satoshi Kenzigawa or Hiroshi Suzuki. Both were light-weight heavyweights who liked quite impressive in defeat but rarely won as they regularly put over the likes of Elemental and his original rivals British import 'Blue-Blood' Billy Rochester and Hiro Bazuki. Suddenly both of them disappeared..it's highly likely both are still working but under a mask, and highly likely one of them went on to be the legend that is Optimus. But let's concentrate on Optimus himself now, the character made his debut in February 1982 and was an immediate hit , his first real rivalry was with Hiro Bazuki and it's that feud that established him as a genuine contender to Elemental's Junior crown. Elemental had been the dominant force in Junior wrestling since his debut and was a fitting first official Junior Heavyweight Champion for Burning Hammer in 1981. Elemental had held the title for a solid 2 years, when Optimus got his shot at the title in June 1983...even though Optimus was unsuccesful on that occasion ..the match confirmed his arrival as the next super-power of Junior Heavyweight wrestling, as he took the legendary Elemental to the limit and the fans who were always behind Elemental in every match were actually split. If anything Elemental became more of the heel in several matches he had trying to keep the title off Optimus and though that worried the bookers at Burning Hammer at the time, as Elemental was the face of Junior wrestling...that did not take away anything from their consistently excellent matches. Eventually Optimus did win the title at the World Wide Super Challenge event at the Budokan Hall in Tokyo on February 17th 1984....in a match considered to be one of the best of all time. From there on the feud between Elemental and Optimus continued to dominate the Junior Division in Burning Hammer and was for many the focal point of the company, as they traded the title with one another for the next 3 years, however by the back-end of 1986 the feud was perhaps starting to become over-played and a little bit stale. Both had massive fan-bases but something was missing . Perhaps it could of had something to do with the fact that both were perceived as being the good guy. Though the face/heel dynamic is not as important in Japanese Puroresu as it is to American Wrestling, many of the more memorable matches and feuds involved a babyface the fans could get behind as they took on the dastardly heel. The Elemental-Optimus feud got the spark it needed at Night of the Burning Hammer 3 on November 1st 1986....Elemental had just beaten Optimus for his third Junior title, however Optimus was doing everything he could to hold onto the title through-out the match and was beginning to resort to the sort of under-handed tactics a competitor of his class and ability would not normally resort to... When Elemental out-smarted the increasingly desperate Optimus and rolled up the then champion with a bridging pin. Optimus went ballistic, something had turned inside of Optimus and after the match Optimus attacked Elemental, this incensed the fans who felt betrayed by one of their idols and thus began the next chapter of Optimus career. The next phase of Optimus career saw him play a full on heel for the first and perhaps the only time , first of all he won the title back off Elemental at Fire Dream of the Immortals in March 1987, in a match also had a title vs retirement stipulaton. The original Elemental was starting to feel that he was no longer able to perform at the level he was at a couple of years back as niggling injuries started to take it's toll ..there final match together was another classic but was much different to many of their matches they had put on before, it was alot more brawl-based than any of their other encounters and had a different sort of emotion to it, with the fans fully behind Elemental. It was a genuine shock when Optimus won the title for the 3rd time and Elemental was forced to hang the boots up for good. However Elemental was training up a protege to take over his legacy from him and thus Elemental II was born, Elemental II made his debut in May 1987 and in one of the most shocking moments in the history of the Junior Title, defeated Optimus in the first title match between the two, and with that the greatest feud in the history of the Junior Title continued. Optimus of course felt incensed that he had been done out of the Junior title and that Elemental had never retired. However it was confirmed when the original Elemental briefly came out of retirement for a series of tag matches with Elemental II , and that he had indeed passed on the torch of the Elemental character. Optimus would continue to feud over the title with Elemental II for the next six years, with their dominance over the title only briefly broken up by Stunner Okazawaya. During that period Optimus slowly started to resort back to his original baby-faced character and by the early 90's had gained respect for Elemental II and though the two were competive rivals, they had buried the hatchet after a 60 minute Iron-Man match that ended in a 2-2 time-limit draw on 20th June 1991, that saw Optimus hang on to the Junior Title by the skin of his teeth. By June 1992 Optimus was already a six time Burning Junior champion and along with the second incarnation of Elemental the face of the Junior Division. Then on August 17 1993 came the darkest day of Optimus career. A serious knee injury substained in a match against young Junior heavyweight Ken Shimedzu kept the Junior legend out for a whole year. When Optimus had returned many new stars had not only arrived in the Junior division but had also stepped up to the upper echelons of the division. This new breed included the likes of Burning Takasita, The Awesome Kiyaru, Naoya Ashikaga, Black Cobra and The Great Hisato. Optimus found that he was no longer relied upon to carry the top end of the Junior Division with Elemental II The first six months of Optimus return to the ring saw him being eased back in, and kept away from the title picture...he was often seen in mid-card feuds helping put the new talent over. For the first time in his career he was no longer the man on top. Another thing that was clear is that he had slightly changed his wrestling style, though he still took to the skies, he had a more calculated methodical apporach, using more techncial grounded moves and more often than not starting using his reverse figure four. submission (The Optimizer) as his finisher. 1997 saw him come back to form with an excellent feud against Black Cobra (Duane Stone), the feud lasted for a whole year...culminating in a mask vs mask match at Night of the Burning Hammer 15 in October 1998. To this day many people feel this should of been the feud that catapulted Optimus straight back to another Junior Title, but it was not to be, however Burning Hammer to their credit did not demote Optimus at all. Instead of his focus being on the Junior Title, he had many non-title yet high profile feuds, and a fair few of them were away from the Junior Division as he began to test himself agains the best of the heavyweights. Another reason that may of been why Optimus was kept away from the Junior Heavyweight title in the late 90's, is the fact that he took on more occassional one off international bookings, as the likes of TCW, NOTBPW and OLLIE in Mexico looked to bring in the Junior legend as a special attraction and the Burning Hammer officials did not want their title to be defended in another company. Many observers saw this as something of an over-sight by Burning Hammer as Optimus defending the Junior Title on foreign soil could have further established Burning Hammer as an International brand not just the leading wrestling company in Japan. After the Black Cobra feud had ended, as mentioned previously Optimus took on the best of the heavyweight division with mixed results...There was however one man who Optimus just could not beat in his time at Burning Hammer ...Haruki 'Hooded' Kudo. When Kudo tried to de-mask Optimus in a six man tag match, this led to a blood feud between the two, that a lasted until October 2000, and though Kudo always came out on top...the feud was so intense and Optimus performance was at such a high level, it catapulted Optimuis back to the main event level and not just a main eventer amongst the Junior Heavyweights. It seemed fitting that when Burning Hammer introduced the Best of the Super Junior Cup in June 2000, the man who helped take Junior-Heavyweight wrestling to the next level would be the first man to win the tournament, as he took a brief respite from his long-running blood feud with Hooded Kudo, beating The Great Hisato, Tom Gilmore (now better known as Angry Gilmore for the SWF) and The Awesome Kiyaru on his way to the title. That tournament win and the feud with Kudo had catapulted Optimus back to the top of the Burning Junior Division, despite the fact he was already beginning to move into the twilight of his career and was at an age where the original Elemental had already decided to hang up the wrestling gear. The Best of the Super Juniors cup win guaranteed Optimus a shot at the Junior Title and in September 2000 he defeated Natsu Miyamae, to capture his first Junior title in eight years, finally the drought was over for the Junior legend. Optimus feud with Hooded Kudo finally came to an end at Night Of the Burning Hammer 17, in an intense and bloody 40 minute contest, that saw Optimus finally beat Kudo in a one on one contest...memorably beating Kudo with three consecutive Ozone Sky-Fliers. After that Optimus would go on to form the revered Silver Dragon Feet stable with his former rival and enjoyed something of a career renaissance as he captured another Junior Title in December 2003, that would prove to be his eighth and final run with the title and he won the Best of the Super Juniors cup for a second time in 2004. By the end of 2004 though it had become clear that he was starting to slow with age, and once again he begun to fade away from the top of the Junior Division. He did manage one more title run, albeit it was only for the Junior Tag Titles . Briefly holding them with Super Joshuya for a three month reign last year, though really it was a means to help get the titles over and help give Size of the Fight (Kansuke Konda & Hyosuke Kokan) the rub, when they won the belts for the second time off Optimus and Joshuya. The back end of 2006, saw Optimus slowly start to fade more into the background as he took on more of a part time schedule..that of course led to him announcing his intention to retire in 2007 and an intention to go out on top and with a sense of dignity. His final run of matches did deliver just that as he almost won the Burning Junor title for the ninth time and was a given a fitting final match with Elemental II in the main event at Test of Prophecies. Elemental put it so eloquently when he said that he pioneered the Junior Division but that Optimus took it to the next level. Will there be other talented wrestlers to come along...the answer is yes, but will there be another Optimus..that answer is no. There is only one and there only ever will be one Optimus.
