Trackersan Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 First off, just wanted to say congrats on the announcement of the new game. As a longtime fan of the TEW games (and the fictional Cornellverse) just curious if the fictional universe for this game will be the same setting...seeing as there are a couple of MMA fighters in the TEW games, it would be neat to see them in this game as well (or at least a passing referance for the fans). Can't wait to hear more details about the game! Cheers!
sebsplex Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Also wondering the same thing, it'd be nice for their to be a link between the two with the likes of Buddy Garner, etc available... even if only in more cameo roles.
Adam Ryland Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 The current plan is for the WMMA game world to be set in the same world as the CornellVerse, although obviously it will be named differently. All the TEW shoot fighters will be referenced for their past accomplishments in the world of MMA, but won't actually appear as playable characters.
dvdWarrior Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Very excitied to hear about the new game, looking forward to it. Just out of curiousity, will any wrestlers from the CornellVerse be included in something like the New Workers section from TEW? IE: In the real world, you occasionally see wrestlers like, say, Sean O'Haire, stray into the world of MMA, (though usually with less than stellar results). Might something similar happen in the game? Just wondering. Good to hear the news about a new MMA game though; just the other day, I added an MMA promotion to my CornellVerse game, Prime Championship Fighting, (added in as an 'Other TV Show' rather than a promotion). :)

TheEdgeOfReason Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 I just want to say good luck with the game and I can't wait to play it
eayragt Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 One day, Adam will finally complete his CornellWorld game. Encompassing all he has done. Where as a wrestling promotion you can hire MMA stars to become wrestlers. Where as an MMA promotion you can hire the wrestling rejects who mistakenly think they can make it for real. And the whole world run will run together. Then he can put on his cardy and slippers, take to smoking a pipe, and retire.
PeterHilton Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 The CornellVerse will never be complete until we get a sim based on the combination of snooker and hockey caled Snockey. This game sounds like an awesome idea.
D. Boons Ghost Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 This is superb! Congrats on the announcement, Adam; and all the best of luck!
TheMiser Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 I was wondering what the big announcement was, and truthly didn't think of MMA. But considering how hot the industry is, and it should work well in a TEW-style engine, it is a great idea. I'm also looking foward to the marketing aspects of the game, or whatever is used to replace the storylines aspect of TEW.
Sensai of Mattitude Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 Something that might be interesting to see would be somebody that works as a full time wrestler in the TEW series working as an occasional fighter in WMMA, similar to the situation that Kurt Angle is in. On another note, good luck with the game, Adam.

Guest loves2spooge Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 Im ready to play now Damn you with your hype
Mr T Jobs To Me Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 I hope at least one person who is in this game ends up in TEW 2008(or 09) though. INSPIRE is always on the lookout for the next Badazz.

praguepride Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 I down for anything that helps flesh out the c-verse. Now here's a quirky thought. Could they be doing MMA AND Wrestling at the same time? Or would a few of the cross-overs take "breaks" from MMA to return to their wrestling roots?

Like some amateur and professional wrestlers poping in? Especially in Japan since it seems that crossover happens often between the two.
praguepride Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 For the record, Runaway Train, before he was the big wrestling star, as an expert Snockey player. In fact, he holds 3 world championships before joining SWF.
