AfRoMaN36 Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 The Good: An excellent swerve in the end when Batista threw Booker at Taker, just as Taker threw Finlay into Batista the week before. This totally caught me by surprise. And in the WWE, when you've been a fan for 10 years and manage to still be surprised, you're either suffering from alzimers, or you're wittnessing some solid booking. Honestly, this Taker, Batista stuff has me more impatient then a guy whose girlfriend "isn't ready yet" for I am just waitng for them to share blows and I think its gunna happen next week. I was also satisfied with the matches. Anytime, Jimmy Wang Yang and Chris Benoit are on the show, the matches arent going to be bad. And on their note, Im glad they can both each get wins, with Wang looking like he's about to get into a serious title feud with Chavo. I wouldnt mind seeing what one of my readers calls a "Matrix-like" wrestling arsenal for the next month. Other matches include London and Kendrick actually winning a match. This was huge for them beating MNM, as they just needed this one more then they did. I really like the team, but the match itself was pretty average. It seemed as if it was going to start off slow and end big, but it ended well before it got their. Anyhoo..... The Bad: I like Bobby Lashley, but if this were TEW, tonights Booker Note would say "Bobby Lashley was overused" Not for this particular show, but recently. And at first, I was loving the "Lashley having the odds stacked againts him and overcomming" thing, but its been overdone so bad its formula is becomming as predictable as the Power Rangers. (With and oddly similar formula) The match itself was good, but can someone please tell me what the hell this guys finisher is? And another thing.... why was Kane simply reduced to an interview? (with surpirisingly capable acting by Kristal) I understand with a loaded show like this one, where everyone I've been moaning about to wrestler finally wrestled, that it would be hard to stuff in a Kane match, but come on.... not even a 30 second squash match? I'm sure Shannon Moore has some bills he'd like to pay. Overall: Last Monday, when I said RAW was a near perfect show, I was greeted with less than agreeing feedback. But this week, I'm so sure this Smackdown was a Near perfect show, that if any man where to disagree, I will personally make it my duty to find you and urinate in your morning coffee by Next Raw. Perfect scores are hard for me (A few matches could have fared better) so it wont get one, however if Ashley would have done something more useful.... like personally sitting down and showing us page by page her playboy pictures, then it would have gotten a perfect score. Rating: **** Biggest Pops: 1. The Undertaker 2. Bobby Lashley 3. Batista Biggest Heat 1. Vince McMahon 2. Randy Orton 3. Mr. Kennedy My Two Cents: * What does Kristal SEE in Teddy Long? * And can I have some of it? * (During a Commercial for my local news) How the hell do playstations fight cancer? * And I'd now like all special intrest groups to shut the hell up... * Isnt Jimmy Wang Yang underrated? * I am looking forward to next weeks JBL Interview! * Batista would make a better heel IMO. * But he would do much better under the watchful eye of the wellness policy. Dont forget to leave feedback.
Actarus Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 WELL! I hope you don't come to urinate in my coffee! ;) ;) Likes - Some people prefer the sports entertainment side of things; some people prefer the wrestling side of things. I'm among the latter, as the name of the game is wrestling, and tonight we had some every consistent, strong wrestling in my opinion. - I'm not a biggest fan of the "Jimmy Wang Yang" gimmick, but I like the guy as a wrestler, and am glad to see the tiny push they're giving him. I anticipate Yang / Guerrero to be a tremendous match-up. Dislikes - No "killer" match that would have put things over the top. In TEW terms, a lot of C+'s / B-'s, / B's, but no A's. - This applies to RAW as well, and WWE as a whole, but are the tag titles so meaningless that they're not worth putting on the line at 'Mania? OK, in terms of RAW it's only possible if Cena & HBK are double-booked (unless they drop them before 'Mania) but what about the Smackdown side? Where's the build? Where's the hype? I want them on the line at 'Mania (biggest wrestling show of the year, no?), not just Smackdown! Miscellaneous - Kristal & Teddy Long....EEEWWW! How's this for an alternative story: Kristal in a love triangle w/ Sharmell & King Booker instead. Booker eventually gets caught and dumped by the Queen. Stupid? Oh, never mind. - Has the Vickie Guerrero storyline been dropped? I agree with a great deal of what you said actually, and enjoyed tonight's Smackdown, which had a great deal of good wrestling along with a good amount of angles / segments. Overall, I thought it was very, very strong. Near-perfect is a tad too generous to hand-out though (for me, personally - not saying I disagree w/ you). The only point I disagree with is when Batista threw Booker into 'Taker. You REALLY didn't see that coming? I thought it was predictable, but also very well done, so I didn't care that it was "predictable". Though I part of me wishes the Last Ride was fully executed; haven't seen it in ages. Wish Lashley would use that as his finisher.
Dont forget to leave feedback.
I'm a tad confused about your final comment. I usually only see that line in diaries...uh, I mean "dynasties". I assume you mean feedback on Smackdown, or were you referring to the your comments. And that's my two cents. Take it or leave it (I'd leave it...:p )
AfRoMaN36 Posted March 24, 2007 Author Posted March 24, 2007 Lol yeah I mean on Smackdown. And I dont normally like giving anything near a perfect score, but the WWE has been just plain great as of late. If I dont give them what they deserved Id get bashed by the E fans who feel Im undershooting them. But it was an excellent show. And perhaps I found the Batista+Taker thing a shock because I was on the computer and only half paying attention. I WAS expecting some sort of argument or something of the sort. But this feud has be on the edge of my seat. Its been booked well. edit: And Vicky Gurerro has been dealing with some personal problems and will return shortly.
GDE71 Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 I hate non-title matches. I think monthly PPV's make title matches meaningless on TV. I don't know how to reconcile those two, but it's a major problem for me. Bald old guy or Bald old guy. I honestly couldn't care less.
djthefunkchris Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 I actually liked the Lashley match. I felt he moved pretty good finally, and we got a little of a preview for how a future Lashley will be presented possibly? I missed the first half, come in when Jimmy Yang won, and seen the last couple of match's. I didn't expect this show to be as good as it was, so was pleasantly surprised... now if work would just understand that I need to go home a half hour earlier, lol.
AfRoMaN36 Posted March 25, 2007 Author Posted March 25, 2007 Yeah I thought this one wasnt going to be any good, but it was just solid. Took me by surprise.
