  1. I love RVD, always marked hard for him since his heel turn back in '97, and I think he's a great choice to have as champion because you know he can still go. Still, I just wondered ...what the hell is up with the theme music he has in TNA? It's one of the worst I can remember hearing in the whole of professional wrestling. Give him 'Ass Man' for all I care, at least it wasn't some gang vocal shouting the name of his finisher at me. Jeeeeeeez.

RVD's theme music was written and performed by a personal friend of his, Kushinator. It's been the intro music for his site for a while as well.

  2.

    - Tyler Perry. More specifically how all of his movies are portrayed as comedies and then you get maybe 15 minutes of actual comedy from the movie the rest is my life is so hard dribble. The last money I'll ever waste on him was when me and my girlfriend at the time went to see Medea goes to jail. The movie should never have been called that because her being in jail seemed like a sub sub plot of the movie. I spent 1 hour and 15 minutes staring at the exit sign thinking of how much trouble i would get in if I just bolted. because of this I say F Tyler Perry. .

Sorry to nitpick...but it's "drivel", not "dribble."

  3. 2010 Schedules have been released.

AFC East teams will be playing NFC North teams. I believe the Jets and Patriots each have 9 games against 2009 playoff teams. I can't remember every team that made it last year, and I lack the ambition to look up that information.

  4. Look, I'll just say this...it's obvious that men in this country like women who compete or perform to the best of their abilities. Nothing is more highly respected and valued than a woman's organization that does everything the men's organization does. And when it comes to athletics, there is no gender gap, women are just as talented as men.

And that's why the WNBA is the most popular sports league in the Universe right now.

  5. I disagree, I think if you play your cards right you can do just as much damage/instill enough fear of a parent being emotionally upset/dissapointed in your actions. At least thats what I got growing up, and sure enough never did anything bad at all really... It actually makes me kinda sad I never did anything risque.

I knew exactly ONE (1) kid that this worked on. He told me that he would screw up and his father would talk...and talk...and talk...for hours on end about how disappointed he was and everything else. So, to avoid the endless lecture, he stayed out of trouble. But, he was a smart person and a lot of what he father said probably sunk in, too. It seems like it would take a smart kid, a smart parent, and a block of free time.

He once said, "I wish he would just slap me upside the head, it'd be over faster and I bet you my head would hurt less anyway!"

  6. Then there's Daniel Bryan's losing streak, which I have frankly tired of. I can't help but think The Big Bad E is doing that on purpose to somehow discredit Bryan and the general greatness of independent wrestling. Then of course everyone (as well as Everyone's first cousin Marvin) quickly chimes in that this losing streak Bryan's on is just a way to set up his eventual match and likely US Title win against The MIZ.

Well, that's just AWESOME, (not unlike The MIZ). There's no better way to make a guy look a champion than have him lose every last one of his matches, (a couple in less than three minutes), all the while being relentlessly made fun of by AN ANNOUNCER.

Think that's how the NWA built Ric Flair into a household name back in the 80s, correct me if I'm wrong.

    :o

What, you don't remember how well Rey Mysterio's title reign went when he was booked to lose all the time? He set box office RECORDS, baby! They were hanging from the rafters to see The Great Khali beat the champion clean in three minutes. Non-title though...so...

  7. Last night's title change was completely symptomatic of the issues I have with TNA. Don't mind RvD with belt and I understand why they'd want him as champ. Makes sense and its a safer pick than Hardy. But to do the #1 contender match and title change on the same show, without much build seems really rushed. I get the feeling it was done to establish a "you can't miss Impact or look at what you could miss" thought. To put two of their biggest money matches on a single episode of Impact with no lead-in build... Unbelievable. I just don't get why you would do that. Why rush things to that extent?

I'm usually a sucker for big celebrations like the one they did, but the one felt... forced. I just don't get why most of those guys are supposed to be so happy RvD won the belt or AJ lost it. Save those kind of celebrations for a title change after a long chase, or for an ultimate underdog winning it. Not RvD.

Yeah, I pretty much agree. RVD with the belt is a good thing, but it seems like they could have slow-cooked things a bit more. At least until the next PPV. But Russo and Bischoff have never been afraid of hotshotting, have they?

We'll see if they can keep things interesting, or if they'll burn themselves out.

  8.

    - Kids who can act up in stores (throw tantrums, curse at their parents, etc) and not get their heads knocked clear off their shoulders. (So jealous :()

Oh boy, don't get me started. :p

Yes, yes, y-e-s. I saw a kid, maybe four or five years old, punch his mom in the leg because he was angry at something. Do you know what would have happened if I punched my mother when I was four or five? I wouldn't be here today, because if my mother hadn't slapped me so hard I couldn't remember my name, my father would have powerbombed me off the roof of our house.

For that matter, I'm sick of parents who ask their toddlers what they want to do. My girlfriend had one of her friends over to our house, and of course this friend has kids. The kid starts getting interested in my altar of electronics (PS3, 360, Wii, and my very very nice receiver) and I'm understandably nervous. Kid then starts trying to sit on my glass coffee table, which is not made for sitting. So the mom asks "Do you want to sit on the couch next to me?" and the kid says no. Mom goes to put the kid on the couch, kid starts to cry, and the mother actually APOLOGIZES to the kid and lets her continue. I wanted to slap the **** out of this woman, because her kid is going to be a spoiled little girl.

My father would have told, not asked, me to sit down. And once I did, if I tried to get up, it would take only one "look" from him to melt me back into my seat for fear that I'd catch a spanking. Kids are not miniature adults, do not treat them as such.

In my next installment, I'll bitch about people who have pets and refer to them as their "children." Not in a cute way, but in a serious, "I don't have real children, so these are my children" sort of way. Oh yeah, your pet is a child? Well, let me ask you...does your pet watch toy commercials and bug the **** out of you until you buy the toys? Does it complain that its clothes are ugly and the other dogs are making fun of it? Does it need to go to college? DOES IT?!

    Okay, rant over.

  9. Spelling and grammar errors. Seriously, I am a fiend for this stuff. Typos here and there are okay, people make mistakes. But people who don't even make an attempt to come across as coherent cause my head to explode...metaphorically.

But I've given up when it comes to calling them on it. I usually get "yea srry my spleling is bad lol" as a response.

Oh, and people who write "loose" or "looser" when they mean "lose" or "loser."

This is our freakin' language here, people! Learn to use it correctly, schools teach you this stuff every year for like a decade and a half.

  10.

Psst, Revis wasn't a rookie. Last year was his third season. They had Lito playing opposite Revis Island. The key for the Jets last year was having people onhand who knew Rex's system (Bart Scott, Jim Leonhard, etc). That helped everyone (except Kerry Rhodes) get on the same page and execute that much better.

I think the Pats will be fine. That team scouts so well, they find diamonds in the rough regularly (who's under center?). I think once they add Jason Taylor (and they will add Jason Taylor. It's the only place that really wants him), all they'll need are maybe one end, a #2 receiver (Edelman will shine this year in the slot. Watch), and a few role players. They're likely to find someone who breaks out and a few developmental guys along the o-line (they do every year) so the pressing needs are relatively few.

I honestly never even considered that Revis wasn't a rookie...even though the Jets are divisional opponents, I never remember hearing his name called. He just seemed to come out of nowhere. Chalk that one up to ignorance on my part. So scratch that remark...

But I would disagree that the Pats only have a few pressing needs...left tackle is beginning to look like a trouble spot, and for a right handed QB the LT position is one of the top five or six most important spots on a team. They need to get a long-term answer at DE, a young inside LB, a good running back, a good corner, a TE (Alge Crumpler is not the answer), and they should consider taking a tall, deep-threat receiver since Moss is starting to fade a bit, and he's gone after this season anyway. I feel okay about the safeties and the quarterback, and I agree that Edelman is going to become a "slot machine" and take the sting out of the Welker situation...but everything else, to me, is suspect.

Certainly, Belichick is a master at putting guys in the right position to succeed, and there's no situation that confronts him that he won't be prepared for. But I wonder just how many "diamonds" are out in that rough? It's a question that's essentially impossible to answer. My personal feeling is that their time in the sun is coming to an end. As a fan, I hope that's not the case. But as an unbiased fan of the sport of football as a whole, that's my opinion.

EDIT: The lead "headline", if you can call it that, on the Sports Illustrated Truth & Rumors section is "Jets Pushing Hard To Sign Taylor."

  11. I say once again, read what I wrote in the context it was written. I did not say he was going to have that season. I said he would be primed to have a breakout year, given the circumstances. Again, you're under the mistaken assumption that you have to throw the ball a whole lot for receivers to put up big numbers. That...is false, and has been proven false, historically and recently. Lemme give you an example.

In 2007, Jay Cutler completed 297 of 467 attempts. How many catches did Brandon Marshall have? Would you say Marshall was the only player catching the ball? Would you say the Broncos weren't fully committed to the run?

You're also ignoring the fact that the Jets had MUCH lower quality receivers last year so of course you go with your strength (running the football). With above average talent at receiver now, throwing the ball more is a given. You don't draft Mark Sanchez to hand the ball off. It's a chicken & egg situation. No smart coach is going to throw the ball tons with a rookie signal caller and poor receivers (Dustin excluded). It's career suicide, especially when you have the option to run lots. Look at the Chargers. For his first couple years, Rivers handed the ball off A LOT. But once he matured and they got him some talent outside the numbers (to go along with Antonio), they threw the ball A LOT more than they had previously, did they not?

Again, read what I wrote. I didn't say he was going to put up those numbers. I said he COULD, for the reasons I've explained. Personally, I think it's likely that this city eats him alive because he seems weak minded and New York isn't the city you want to play in if that's the case. But if it doesn't, he's standing in the midst of what could be a perfect storm. If you think the Jets are going to grind the ball like they did last season, well, in eight months I'll get to point out that it didn't happen. Rex is a defensive coach. Defensive coaches protect their defenses. The best way to do that as a head coach is to have the offense spend inordinate amounts of time on the field. However, he's also a smart coach and smart coaches exploit weaknesses in their opponents. Sanchez will get 100-150 more attempts this year, which could very well lead to a lot of catches for one of the three primary Jets receivers.

With no pass rush and weak linebackers, no secondary can be good. You could put Deion Sanders on one side and Lester Hayes or Mike Haynes (in their prime) on the other with Lott & Reed at safety and the secondary would still get decimated. You can't expect even the best DBs to cover indefinitely (and the linebackers need to cover too).

A very suspect LB corps really hurt the Patriots defense over the last two seasons. Absolutely no coverage in the middle of the field, not much of a pass rush either. Of course, that also falls on your DEs. You get a wide receiver out in space with a time to get free, a great corner suddenly looks completely average.

Of course...an outright ****ty set of DBs didn't do them many favors. How their defense was ranked as well as it was is very misleading.

The Jets got some amazing play from their rookie DB, Revis, and at times Sanchez showed flashes of the player he could someday become. Those two need to avoid the so-called "sophomore slump" and hope that with a whole season of film on them that no one detects an exploitable flaw. Those two, with the off-season acquisitions added to the mix (not to mention the confidence inspired by their deep playoff run despite not winning the division) makes for a very potent team. Like I said, I'm a Pats fan, but to be truly objective...I would not be surprised come January if the it's the Jets taking the division and the Pats pushing for a wild card spot. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if the roles were reversed.

    Schedule comes out Tuesday...

  12. Brandon Marshall is a Dolphin, for a pair of 2nd rounders.

Not bad. Not ideal, but not bad.

Source: NFL Network (on the ticker) and now, the front page of NFL.com

While you're right that we'll have to wait and see, I don't understand how the boobirds could come out so quickly. Let's look at what happened in San Diego that contributed to and precipitated LT's drop in production.

The team moved fully to Norv Turner's preferred system (which, obviously, is pass oriented) with the emergence of Philip Rivers and Vincent Jackson. They also started giving Darren Sproles more carries to justify his much higher pay grade. Several times during the season, the Chargers were playing from behind (which means MORE emphasis on the pass to a Norv Turner). Oh and did I mention the O-line was beat up? Meanwhile, at the same time, Thomas Jones was playing for the first time with a defense oriented coach looking to protect his prized defense along with a rookie starting quarterback. What's that mean? Ball control, all day. Pair that with the nastiest offensive line in the league, and you have a lot more rushing attempts to go around. Thus, Jones benefited from all of that, with roughly the same number of carries but far more exploitable holes with which to work.

I think people predicting the demise of LT will find themselves in a situation similar to those people who predicted the demise of Mark Twain.

Suddenly the East is looking very, very competitive. It may be a three team race...and the Bills, with their good special teams, could surprise some people depending on how they do in the draft. They need a QB and probably a strong left tackle to protect him, but they could do it.

I think the sun is setting on the Patriots...which pains me greatly. Hey, I'm no bandwagon fan, I started watching in the '92 season when they were...what 2-14? Then came Parcells and Bledsoe...so when they were going to five Superbowls in a span of about ten years and six AFC title games, I felt like I'd suffered enough to justify it.

But damn man, the Jets are making us New England fans nervous as hell. Whatever LT has left in the tank, Ryan will get all of it out him, and maybe even more.

  13. I was thinking more a Kelly Kelly without a blank slate look in her eyes.

That could very well be it. I know most of them all weara hefty amount, but, that seems very logical, as the older pics I've seen of her aren't too shabby.

I'm not gonna kick any of them out of bed, that's for damn sure.

They think they know how to wrestle? I'd show them so many holds they wouldn't what the hell to do. I'd pick up Lacey and scoop slam her right onto my living room floor and tag her out right there.

  14. You'd be surprised how many straight women enjoy all-male gay porn.

    I would be friggin' flabbergasted!

There was a comedian whose name escapes me that said "Watching two women together is every man's fantasy. Seeing two men together has to be every woman's nightmare. You ever seen a man bent over from behind? Looks like an overgrown goat."

  15. No one has anymore ideas for the renaming of The Band? I figure we'd all have a good ol' laugh at their expense...

I would suggest...The Grey Wolves, The Silver Fox, and my personal favorite...the Septuagenarians.

Look it up if you need to. It made me chuckle when I thought of it.

And just to throw in my two cents...when it comes to alternative sexualities, men and women are definitely held to different standards. The idea of a lipstick lesbian or a woman who "swings both ways" is quite accepted (at least to the extent that these orientations are accepted). However, alternative sexualities for men are judged much differently.

I'm certainly not above it. The thought of a good-looking woman enjoying the pleasures of both a man and a woman at the same time (on film, with many, many angles) is rather enticing. But a man, even one who is in fantastic shape like OJ, having sexual congress with another man...even when a beautiful woman is involved in some capacity...I'm decidedly less interested.

Granted, that's only me, but I feel pretty confident that there are others who share a similar viewpoint. And OJ is really the least of my personal concerns. I'm more upset about the fact that a once promising wrestling company that had some of the best young wrestlers, guys who were given somewhat of an opportunity to get over and put their talents on display, have been completely pushed aside in favor of guys like Matt Morgan, Rob Terry, and a bunch of 40, 50, and holy-effing-ess 60 year olds!

  16. Thing is though, whatever about Nash and Hall's politics, you have to admit their awesome guys. I mean Nash has to like one of the funniest guys to hang around with. Anytime you hear him doing like a radio show he's always chilled out and relaxed.

Nash is definitely an eloquent guy, not to mention witty as hell. You can tell that he's a very intelligent person.

But he'd also be the first to tell you that he's a prick, as is Scott Hall. He's said as much on many, many occasions. So I don't know if I would peg Nash as an "awesome guy." Funny? Yes. Good for business? I have to say no.

Much like Lance Storm, I quit TNA after Monday's show. Every episode for the last month has been a disappointing struggle, and prior to that the show wasn't even that good.
