  1. I also noticed two random event names are "Anything Goes" and "Live and Let Die"....both of these are the titles for Guns N' Roses songs.
  2. Just looking at the event names and here are a couple: One of the random TV show names for MPWF is "Guerras del Anillo", which is a rough translation of War of the Ring, one of the key events in the Lord of the Rings movies and books. APW has an event titled "OzFest".......like the rock festivals, which is actually spelled "OzzFest". CGC has an event titled "Chamber of Horrors". There is a 1966 horror film of the same name. CZCW has an event titled "Reach for the Sky". This could be one of many references: It is the title for a song by Social Distortion, a song by Firehouse, an album by The Allman Brothers Band, an album by Ratt or a movie of the same name that starred Kevin Malone. I am guessing the Social Distortion song, but that's just me. MAW has an event titled "Where It All Begins Again". That was the slogan for WWE's Wrestlemania XX. The SWF has many references in the events, some intentional, some coincidence I bet. They have an event titled "Welcome to the Jungle" like the Guns N' Roses song. They have an event titled "Master of Puppets" like the Metallica song (also covered by Dream Theater) They have an event titled "Time of Troubles". The Time of Troubles was a key event in the Dungeons and Dragons Forgotten Realms module, when all magic went awry and the avatars of the Gods walked the land of Faerun like mortals. They have an event titled "When Hell Freezes Over". That's the title of an album released by The Eagles in 1994. Frost also released an album of the same name in 1997. They have an event titled "The World is Watching". The slogan "What the World is Watching" was once used by the WWF/WWE. They have an event titled "Break Like the Wind". That was the title for an album released in 1992 by the semi-fictional band Spinal Tap. Over in TCW: They have an event titled "Hotter than Hell". That is the title of the second album by mega popular rock band KISS. It is fitting that they also have an event titled "Psycho Circus", the same title as the 1998 album by KISS. They also have an event titled "Excessive Force". That was the name of a side musical project by members of KMFDM and My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult groups. This one is pretty obscure, but it might be a reference. They have an event titled "A Little South of Sanity" which was the title for an Aerosmith album. They have an event called "Where the Angels Fear to Thread". I am not sure, but a friend of mine says it is a reference to the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion. I am not sure, for I have never seen the series myself. They have an event titled "Just Another Day?" John Secada and Queen Latifa have songs of the same name. Also it was the title for a 1986 episode of Pee-Wee's Playhouse. They have an event titled "The War to Settle the Score". I am not 100% sure, but I think that was the name of a WWF event in 1985 headlined by Hogan vs Piper. That match appears in one DVD which title eludes me, but is the one that features several 80's legends like Hogan, Piper, Flair, Slaughter and some others. Also, WLW has an event called "Power & Glory". I pray to God it is not a reference to the very bad 1991 WWF tag team composed of Hercules Hernandez and Paul Roma.... Also, BHOTWG's TV Show is called "Lords of the Ring", another reference at the books and films, Lord of the Rings.
  3. I think the Leper Messiah thing also mimics a real life situation, but I am not sure. You see, in Puerto Rico when Dutch Mantell was booking IWA, he brought in a generic big guy that was not that successful. His common indy name was Prince Justice (or something similar). He gave this worker a gimmick that would enhance his look and status and eventually took him to the big leagues (if you consider TNA a big league). Of course, that gimmick was Abyss. The similarities between that and the transformation of Tully Arthurs into Leper Messiah is similar I guess.
  4. This might be another cultural reference: MAW tag team specialist, Oscar Golden....as in "Golden Boy" Oscar de la Hoya, the boxer.
  5. Just found out that Barry Kingman has two alter egos: Dork the Clown Snarf the Clown.... besides the obvious reference to Dusty Wolfe/Doink the Clown (solid worker with no charisma that plays an outrageous gimmick to add some spice to his character) I figured out that "Dork" and "Snarf" are two things that Pinky from Pinky & The Brain says a lot.....so I guess that's a reference to the cartoon.
  6. Since I am from Puerto Rico, I found some things that relate to real life WWC in FREEDOM....I dont know if they where intentional or not, but here they go. Puerto Rican Power, in spite of physical differences and being decently over outside of PR, has a lot of similarities with Carlos Colon, including his patriotic character, the fact that he doesn't want to job and that he has beaten big names while working in PR (Colon has beaten Flair, Harley Race etc) Shawn Gonzales has some similarities to Jose Huertas Gonzales (Invader #1)....he is head booker of FCW (like Huertas was for WWC), is best friends with PR Power (like Huertas and Colon) his last name is Gonzales and he dragged a younger brother from prison into wrestling (Carlos Gonzales and Invader #4, aka Maelo Huertas Gonzales in real life). Rico Santana, road agent for FCW......WWC's long time road agent and former wrestler was Cuban born Ricky Santana..... Maybe they where entirely coincidental, but they do resemble real life.
