1. Funny, in Europe I can get to see most of AEW just from Youtube, while WWE are blocking everything.

From what I have seen, this was one of the best PPV in the last 10 years. Everything seemed to make sense.

And from what I get to see from Smackdown/Raw (on paid TV)...it's boring as hell. The few good things they had going (the Cesaro-push for example) was dropped. Kevin Owens has been dragged into midshow and, let's face it, Edge's return could have been way better (Christian is overtaking him in AEW).

  2. Bucks and Omega are just dorks. They're not believable heels to me. They're the guys that get picked on in high school because they're losers. They're also terrible promos. Callis should really give them promo lessons because anytime they talk they just come across like morons playing a character. Omega especially needs to take lessons. You shouldn't bury your opponents in promos because then when you beat them, they weren't anything. And if you lose to someone you buried in a promo, then it just makes you look bad. This is promo work 101. Foley and Jericho have talked about this numerous times over the year.

I agree. Omega, who I still don't buy as championship stuff, did deliver with the Bucks turning on him. But even that was nothing remarkable. Omega tries to be the new Ric Flair....there's some serious promo-men on the roster to write his lines.

  3. Loads of fun in AEW. I still can't see any fun in (this time heel) Omega (he's a fat Flair rip-off now, including a manager but can't talk his way into a decent promo)....or the Old Bucks (Gallows/Anderson just outshadow them while being in their corner). The big danger of AEW is history repeating, and I think this will be the case: owners becoming bookers becoming champions....
  4. No, it was never explained, nor was the cancelling of The Bucks heel turn. Sometimes I think this is the problem with not having writers, yeah the talents love working with bullet points for promos and having freedom but lack of continuity and narrative structuring definitely becomes a problem.

I thought the most recent Dynamite was good but I don't think this Kenny Omega story is working. Him and The Good Brothers are amongst my least favourite thing on the show at the moment, one of those angles where they have the wrong kind of heat.

I agree. Actually, heel Omega...I don't care if he wins or loses. I don't even care if he gets kicked the carp out of him. I just wish he wasn't on the show.

  5. Elevation was fine for what it is. Maki vs Riho was quite good though.

Paul Wight is decent enough on commentary, but he keeps using insider terms and phrases like he said "she's still selling the knee." That is just not good. Hoping he'll stop doing that, because he's not bad otherwise. If anything, I'm just excited I can hear Tony on another show.

Solid show. Still can't stand Omega...Matt Hardy gets a good second on being totally useless at this stage.

  6. Brandon Cutler has his job because he's friends with the Young Bucks. I don't think that's a terrible thing in this case, because he's competent enough to mostly do jobs on Dark. He does frustrate me though, because he's incredibly influenced by the Bucks' look-at-me style of gymnastic wrestling, and he just isn't built for it. He does the acrobatics he can sorta do, and innovative spots that mostly make sense, but it's clumsy and weird on him. He's 6'2 but tries to wrestle like he's 5'8. I don't blame him, because that's the style his friends used to get over, but someone needs to sit him down and teach emotion and aggression and playing to yours strengths. Someone clearly did that for Jungle Boy, who now has one of the most aggressive no-nonsense fiery comebacks in AEW.

    That explains something.

I never saw the Old Bucks or Nomega's work in Japan. I just find it over-worked....can't get into it. Cutler fits into that one as well. AEW should be concentrating (and won't be doing this, AEW seems to be going WCW in the downtime withing 1 year) on building their own cases. They did well in the first year, Cody, Jericho, Mox being known and popular wrestlers (and putting up performances). AEW going WCW is being bookers going champs (Bucks, (n)Omaga)...and some strange guys like Kingston (who?), Cutler, etc...getting a push.

They got some great non-wrestling guys like Jake and Tully. Retire Kenny and the Old Bucks.....have them run the company. Build it like it should.

In 3 months time, AEW will be WCW all over again: the guys who are running the show, will be the champs for a long time to come.

  7.
Great event....still can't be bothered with watching the (old) Bucks or Omega. Spot after spot...it's the same all over. Matt Hardy is going the same way. (So is Jeff in WWE, can't understand that he's being pushed there).

A year ago I said Jericho was overweight en probably out of date (Manic Street Preacher quote)....Jericho has done more re-invention (again) than Bucks, Omega, Hardy, Brody Lee....anyone still caring a bit about the Hangman (I'm not)? Oh, Moxley is still the champ...almost forgotten him.

  8. I've never heard of this dude, but for the most part that was awesome. A few awkward moments, but overall I enjoyed the hell out of that.

Have never watched Dark, but might check this week's out just for this dude.

Dark (in Europe) is free. Great episode. I still can't stand the Old (Young) Bucks...(and Omega). If the Elite was just cut out (they own it, so they can't), this would be a show-case for younger talent.

  9. The Puzzler will carry SPW into the 30's I predict. :D

    Aftermath

The Puzzler had never really made any headway in terms of being an important member of the roster. There was some eyebrows raised when his match against Friedrich Herzog at SPW Pro Wrestling 22 got a 43 rating, but short squash matches are Herzog's speciality (as shown in Herzog's match with Mike Lewis the previous year) and his World Title Match squash loss to Joe Boone at SPW Pro Wrestling 23 was the last they intended to use him.

    NOOOOOOOOO!

I don't necessarily think this will happen, but a man can dream!

Not sure how the timeline would work out regarding PPVs and everything. Anyway, here's my fantasy:

* Omega and Page lose the titles to FTR at some point. Omega turns on Page and the Elite is shattered. Not a civil war, just basically dissolved. I think its a great game, but these days I play games in shorter sessions and I think that puts the game at a disadvantage.

My gaming tastes have radically changed since becoming a father. These days, turn based games or pause-able are more my thing.

Here's a few of my recent games:

With Friends:

Elite Dangerous - aka Space Trucking Simulator. Beautiful if a little lifeless and now lacking anything new. Nice to just log on with a mate of mine and flit around the galaxy together. Have done the long trips to SagA, Colonia and Formadine Rift as well as the Hutton Run.

Sea Of Thieves: Not as often as we used to but its fun to muck around and the tension when another players ship comes close is crazy. Also had the annoying luck of being attacked by a Kraken, a Megladon and a Skeleton Ship at the same time.

Overcooked/Totally Reliable Delivery Service/Moving Out - All variations on the same principal. What should be simple is now hard to do with lots of people getting in your way

On My Own:

AC Odyssey - I love it a lot more than Origins but have hit the point where its becoming quite a grind. Need more materials for the ship... grind. Want to upgrade the spear... grind

Crusader Kings 2 - I suck at the game but its fun trying to take my lowly peon and try rule the world. It usually ends up with me constantly attacked by neighbours and having extra marital relations with every courtier I get my hands on.

Car Mechanic Simulator/House Flipper - Levelled enough that I can just pick up wrecks and restore them.

Stellaris - I love Stellaris. Want to be a peace loving space hippy.. Do it. Want to warmonger and take over the galaxy. Do it. Want to devour everything in your path and not do diplomacy. Do it. Want to be Kypton and have your start planet eventually explode. haha, good luck but you can do it. It also have mid/end game crisises to stop end game overpowering. Looking forward to tomorrow when the console version finally gets the good update

I like this post. I'll add one.

I've been playing Darkest Dungeon a lot the past time. But I play it as an RPG...I just had my first dead character after 46 weeks in the game (that's 46 turns).
