  1. This is my first post on the spiffy new board 😀

I'm entering February of year 2 of a WOTI mod save, playing a heavily edited Smokey Mountain Wrestling, about to hit Titanic size in a couple of months.  My champions are

World: Paul Orndorff (feuding with Eddie Gilbert)

North American: Brad Armstrong (feuding with Jake Roberts)

Tag: Arn Anderson & Jerry Stubbs (feuding with Dibiase & Doc)

Trios: Dennis Condrey, Bobby Eaton, Jim Neidhart with Jim Cornette (feuding with Rock and Roll Express & Duggan)

  2. I finished up 1970 last night, which makes this a long term game for me. Thank you for the hours of entertainment.

{note: my game is heavily edited from the original database) After a year of game time, my promotion, which used to be Tri-State, is poised to go national. I'm at 83 pop in Mid south and 82 in Southeast, 68 everywhere else. Got a self-owned broadcaster, just sold out Reliant Stadium(75K) for my season finale event, won most of the year end awards, etc. :)

  3. I just downloaded the demo on Saturday and after messing around a little with it, I found this mod and got it set up. This has probably sold me on the game since this is the time I was growing up watching Portland Wrestling every Saturday night. So many names and personas that I remember but almost as many I'd forgotten about. Awesome work! Thank you!

The detail in this mod is amazing. I'm enjoying booking Tri-State and learning about the guys working that territory before I started watching in the mid-70s.

  4. <p>From the most excellent Territory Daze mod:</p><p> </p><p>

    Playing as Tri-State</p><p> </p><p>

    1) Bill Watts is feuding with Wahoo McDaniel over the North American belt.</p><p>

    2) Tarzan Baxter is feuding with Ox Baker over the Brass Knucks belt.</p><p>

    3) The Torres Bros are feuding with Buck Robley & Tim Brooks for the tag belts.</p><p>

    4) Skandar Akbar is feuding with Bob Armstrong for the Arkansas belt.</p><p>

    5) Thunderbolt Patterson is feuding with Medic #1 for the Mississippi belt.</p><p>

    6) Not title tag feud: The Texas Outlaws vs Valentine and Spoiler.</p><p>

    7) Lower card feud: Ernie Ladd vs Bruno Sammartino</p>

  5. I'm up to August 1970 now, cruising along in my path to going national with Tri-State. Major Stars include Watts, Akbar, Tarzan Baxter, Dusty Rhodes, Ox Baker, and Thunderbolt Patterson.

Dory Funk was NWA champ, but he suffered a back injury and will be out for a year. They haven't replaced him yet, I'm curious to see who they pick. (I pulled out of the NWA)

While looking through the pictures, I found that one of the pictures labelled as Mae Young is really Moolah. Forgot to write down the file name, but I think it's the third or fourth one down in the list.

  6. I just finished my end of month show for May, 1970 and got my first 90-rated match--Ox Baker v Tarzan Baxter in a Monster's Ball match for the Brass Knucks title. Card got an 86 rating overall, my highest to date...and I think the leading contender for Card of the Year so far.

I've made quite a few stat tweaks and such to suit my fancy, but I'm loving this mod.....

  7. I've never had any problem with Meltzer personally. He posts over at WCMB, I think we may have commented on the same threads a few times. I think he takes both himself and his HoF way too seriously, he over values Japanese wrestling, and I really don't get why he's pushing the hell out of AEW.

I'm a regular listener of Jim Cornette's podcasts. Jim has some strong opinions and isn't shy about expressing himself. I tend to agree with him on wrestling most of the time. Don't care about the ongoing bickering between Meltzer and Corny. Seems silly to me.

Arn's podcast is pretty good, but I just don't have time to listen to it every week.

  8. I don't have a problem with the feature, it's the lack of warning that annoyed me. I think the feature is great, and realistic, it does force you to re-think, change plans, maybe pull the trigger on someone earlier than intended, I just think a warning would have been nice.

I'd have understood it if his morale was so low that he just left, that's a different situation that I'd hopefully have avoided (or certainly wouldn't have plans for him), but the fact he went into politics..........

Oh, and it was Steve Austin by the way.

And I'd still like to know if I would continue to pay his wages...

It boils down, as these things almost always do, to the simulation vs fantasy booking argument. I'd be cool with an option to turn it off...and I think you can set the "random events" (or something like that) to occur rarely in the options.

I get the simulation players like "wrinkles" and "challenges". But it sure can screw up a game for us fantasy bookers. I have zero interest in having, say...Michael Hayes leave the Freebirds to go film a movie.
