I'll take a look. Would love to play a full thing of this mod but there are too many QoL issues with 2020 at the moment.</p>
  3. As I said on Twitter when I said I dropped them to medium, I was waiting for the screechers to start complaining.

Yes I have dropped WWE down to Medium size, but they are still at 70 pop in the US, Canada and UK, with 60 in the rest of the world, I'd argue that's still rather big, but within the game engine that's considered to be a medium company, they are still the biggest company in the world and I have adjusted the other big players in a similar fashion and they all work better than they were forced to conform to th requirements of the game, their still drawing the same numbers for shows, it just puts them all at a stage of stable popularity rather than losing pop to get there.

There will always be a group who hate how I underrate popularity, and if you have a problem with it, use a different mod, I feel it's better to underrate than overrate, and if you want that there are other mods better suited for you.

To be clear, what I did was drop WWE from 80 pop to 70 pop because they would gradually lost pop within the first two weeks and fall in size, and in my current tests with them set at 70 they tend to be stable or grow slightly.

Don't listen to this guy Who. Most of us agree with this decision. Hell, I'm not even buying the game at this point (first time I won't be) and I'm still keeping up with this mod progress because its so good. Waiting patiently for popularity to be adjusted.

  4. Lol. The salt levels are palpable. It's great.

I've never seen such a display of entitled, impotent rage as I have over the release of this game. :p "ADAM WON'T REWRITE HIS ENTIRE GAME'S CODE TO CATER TO MY SPECIFIC LIST OF DEMANDS!!!". So just clog the forums up with post after post of pointless bitching. Sounds productive.

Near daily patch updates and a delayed release date to rework the UI seems to indicate that Adam IS indeed listening to feedback that isn't impossible to cater to or is "I DON'T LIKE IT, YOU AND YOUR COMPANY SUCK".

It’s not really a list specific to one person, we’re all on the same page.

. We all hate the arrows, lists, lack of product customization, etc. No one here is calling out some random ass feature.

  5. They can't implement so many things because of VB6.

    We're in 2020 and TEW :

    • Still has a fixed resolution
    • Still asking to run on admin mode
    • Still not supporting basing QoL like being able to scroll with my mouse or even being able to drag and drop the segments on the booking screen
    • Has a awful & terrible UI with so many bad design choices (font size, color, etc).
    • Still using a old system for the license
    • Doesn't have a automatic update system. We still have to download a new .exe & copy it to the game directory.
    • Etc..

And for that, you have to pay 35$.

Tbh, I don't understand why Adam bothered to re-wrote TEW by using the same old engine. Being myself a developper, it just make no sense.

It’s incredibly weird that he rewrote it from scratch to get marginally the same product with worse QoL.

  6. I feel like the demo was a horribly unfinished game, where as the retail version is simply an unfinished game. It's playable sure, but there are so many things wrong with TEW 2020.

    - finances are all over the place. Seriously, they are an absolute mess.

    - no scrolling on numerous screens

    - have to click on each and every individual skill to track its progress

    - the listing of skills is an eye sore. Check out slim Jim's design to see it done properly

    - can't edit retirements/hiatuses using the in game editor

-AI booking is ludicrously repetitive (the same tag team match 17 times in a row, really?)

    -etc

The list could go on and on. I can only pray that patches continue to be released regularly, as in its current state, the game simply isn't up to scratch.

Yeah, does the AI get penalized for repetitive matches?

  7. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Dross" data-cite="Dross" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="49492" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Very much this. If everyone that does graphics for the game tells you the UI is bad practice, there's something there. I love the game, and I couldn't be more happy that Adam still makes these games, so I'm super appreciative of what has been produced (also appreciative of the graphics guy, who has done a fine job with the second UI), but the UX has been an issue some way or another for as long as there have been TEW's. <p> </p><p> Many of the changes would be looked at as objectively "wrong" in any UI/UX class in the world. No UI expert would ever say that the arrow placement on the booking screen is sensible. No UI expert would ever say that it's acceptable having to click a side bar to use the keyboard to scroll one line at a time, when the same could be achieved much faster with a mouse wheel. No UI expert would say that fiddly drop down boxes for attributes is a good idea. No UI expert would ever say it's okay to remove a basic feature like typing to chosing road agent notes.</p><p> </p><p> If you look at who's complaining, it's actually all the people with a background in graphics design. Maybe others don't care enough, or they feel like it's not an issue, but don't pretend it's good practice.</p><p> </p><p> Anyway, no more from me. I actually enjoy the heck out of TEW2020, so I'm off to continue my diary. :-)</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Yeah and that’s the problem. No UI expert was consulted (it seems). They’re an integral part of the process and this development seemed to omit them.</p><p> </p><p> As far as all the people endlessly posting “Thank you Adam! It’s just a vocal minority, this game is perfect.” I don’t understand your motivation. There were MAJOR problems with this game, Adam admitted it and made (some) changes. Were the people who complained during the beta just a “vocal minority” then? Because that vocal minority gave you changes that made you such a great game.</p><p> </p><p> The fact remains that we have key members of the community (Genadi is an example) who aren’t happy and might not create mods anymore. If you think the majority of people play because of the Cornellverse you’re kidding yourself. We need a healthy mod community for this game and a lot of Adam’s decisions have damaged that.</p>
  8. Just a heads up, most of what I'm doing is sorting out rosters and contracts, I tend to base contracts off of a 3 month period but with how things have been I'm basing them off shows from December to present. I've also done some drastic changes to attribues/personalities, most of which were based off my old system that was mostly cloned from each other so I've wiped all that away and started mostly fresh, I've transfered over some of the addictions and have done some attributes for a few workers but the plan is to tackle them one step at a time when I've got the contracts sorted.

I'm looking to get a new beta up for/over the weekend.

Amazing! I’d love to be able to play this over the weekend.

  9. Speaking of popularity I'm thinking about rebalancing some of the popularity in game (RW DB based of The Who's data that i've been updating/editing for a bit).

Reading the handbook I take this quote: "In terms of specific popularity, this should be done in relation to the various companies. For example, if a worker is meant to be a mega star for a specific company, generally the worker's popularity would be several points higher than the company's in each region. This will therefore make them a big draw."

So here is where my world is at with popularity trying to create some clear-lines between similar companies:

    WWE 80/80/70 (USA/UK/Japan)

    NJPW 75/40 (Japan/USA)

    ---------------------------------------------

CMLL 60/10 (Mexico/USA) (I may lower these as this feel artificially high, though it may be accurate in Mexico)

    AAA 60/10 (Mexico/USA)

AEW 60/50 (South East, rest of the USA)

NXT 55/50 (South East, rest of the USA)

    ---------------------------------------------

Impact 47/45/30 (South East/Ontario/Rest of US and Canada)

    ROH 45/40/30/15 (Tri-State/Mid-East/Rest of USA/Japan)

    ---------------------------------------------

NWA 38/25 (Home region/Rest of US)

    MLW 35/25/15 (Home region/Rest of US/Mexico)

    ---------------------------------------------

PWG 30/EVOLVE 30 (Niche Indy Promotions; Home region only)

    ---------------------------------------------

0-15 Majority of companies that have a small but loyal following.

So now using that as a base... I started thinking about the "Most recognizable names in Professional Wrestling" In my mind these guys should be the mega-stars, the 90-100 range in the WWE. So who are the names the even a casual fan would know (non-exhaustive just thinking out loud here).

95-100's (Mega-Star tier, even your wife or parents might know these names)

    The Rock

    John Cena

    Ric Flair

    Hulk Hogan

    Vince McMahon

90-95 (Star-tier; fans of all ages and interests will pop for these guys; but non-fans might not recognize)

    Triple H

    The Undertaker

    Brock Lesnar

    Roman Reigns

    Bill Goldberg

80-90 (Modern draws, people pay to see them)

    AJ Styles

    Seth Rollins

    Daniel Bryan

70-80 (Big names from around the world that would cause shockwaves if they abruptly joined WWE even to casual fans and could immediately be in the main event scene)

    Jon Moxley

    Chris Jericho

    Kazuchika Okada

    Shinsuke Nakamura

60-70 (Names that populate the mid-upper midcard that fans paying to see the top show are paying to see, would be main eventers for all non-WWE companies)

    The Miz

    Kevin Owens

    Dolph Ziggler

    Drew McIntyre

    Matt Jackson

    Nick Jackson

    Cody

50-60 (Names that could leave the WWE Midcard and make an instant impact in a smaller company (AEW/Impact) and currently can main event NXT/AEW)

    Matt Hardy

    Jeff Hardy

    John Morrison

    The Revival

    Jake Hager

    Rusev

    Johnny Gargano

    Adam Cole

40-50 (Main Eventers in smaller companies that would be upper to main event NXT/Mid-Card WWE names if they were signed, Lower Midcard-Midcard WWE)

    Jay Briscoe

    Jay Lethal

    Low-Ki

    Tessa Blanchard

    Sami Callihan

    Brodie Lee

    EC3

30-40 (Mid and Upper-midcarders for Impact/ROH that could headline an indy show and would have some impact when making a debut on AEW/NXT).

    Moose

    Michael Elgin

    Matt Taven

    Dalton Castle

    Aron Stevens

    Nick Aldis

    Jeff Cobb

20-30 (Main Eventers for small/niche indy products who hardcore fans love, but casual fans wouldn't have any idea who they are, can come in to NXT/Impact and add credibility but not star if the style fits)

    Timothy Thatcher

    AR Fox

    Eddie Kingston

    Joey Janela

10-20 (Indy Upper Midcard/Niche names that have a following in their home promotion/style but limited scope)

    Ricky Shane Page

0-10 (The rest of the wrestlers in the world... they add value to home promotions).

    Thoughts of the scale?

It gets a bit cloudy for me as it gets to the 0-40 range, might need to be broken into smaller ranges. But I think it's on the right track.

Looks good. I'd make a few adjustments. I'd drop Roman down a tier. I'd put Jericho and Moxley up one tier as they have consistently been difference makers in the ratings. I'd also probably drop AJ down. I think this looks good though.

  10. I understand your perspective man, I really do. I was one of the people who booted up the trial for ten minutes before rage quitting and spouting my complaints all over this thread. As a non-modder, eventually I gave it another go and fell in love with the C-Verse changes enough for me to get over the ugly ass UI. I must just have higher bullshit tolerance lol, he'll get my money but it'll be the first time my heart wasn't 100% in it.

Fingers crossed he learns from his mistakes and pulls together a true closed beta team from the vast selection of dudes and dudettes (who am I kidding lol) here in love with this series more than any AAA sports title and want to see it succeed. Keeping die-hards from testing the game months out due to it not being fair to modders is a cop out and I hope there truly is a better answer sometime down the line. If this isn't his day job and he can support himself financially in the long run, maybe it's time to bring in some new workers. There's a tonne of high level programmers and designers about who would honestly probably do the work for free. Although at the price tag, surely Adam can spare a cut. I'd just like to see him go back to exclusively programming as he clearly has a vision for the future of the game mechanics but has had to split his time into other areas of the game.

A year off really would've done it justice considering TEW is his flagship. An updated Wrestling Spirit while this was completed would of been cool. It just really does remind me of when THQ went out of business and 2K rushed to get their first game out based on a new engine and models and it was shallow as hell. I see so much potential, I don't mean to sound so overly positive about the game!

I appreciate your opinion and if you enjoy the game, who am I to take that from you?

I used to play the Cornellverse but once I started playing RW and Historical RW mods I had so much more fun. I love Alternate History and the idea of putting Kerry Von Erich in the Hulk Hogan spot in 1984 or trying to overtake WWF with WCW is immensely appealing to me. There were SOOO many things in the Journal that made me believe mods and especially historical mods were really being considered. That no longer seems to be the case.

The money isn’t a big thing to me, I make a decent living but it’s more of a principle thing for me at this point. I can’t condone the “It’s my game, this is how you’ll play” mentality. I think we should be able to play the way we want. I think there’s a world where you can turn on or off these options as you see fit.

  11. There are absolutely issues 100%, but how do you expect Adam to fund another years' development cycle without annual profit? The least we can hope for is continued support to perfect what we've got. 2024 is a long way away but after another year working on top of this new base code, it's gonna be a killer app and I hope to see all of you leaving return when that time comes. If TEW 2016 was a 9/10, I'll give the 2020 beta trial a solid 7.5/10 with potential to hit that 8 with a few fixes. This really isn't a huge disappointment for me, a slight letdown but the more I play the more I understand why some features needed to be scrapped to make way for new ideas going forward.

It’s been said that this isn’t his day job. I honestly don’t know what to say. I don’t know why these decisions were made. I don’t know why more people weren’t consulted. I don’t know why UX/UI experts weren’t invited. I don’t know why testers didn’t raise flags. I don’t know why Adam pitched a game with “less clicking” and the final product is the exact opposite.

I honestly don’t have these answers and it just comes off that Adam thinks there’s a specific way people should play and that mods don’t matter.
