  1. My Grand Slam Pt. 1 takeaways.

    • Draw finishes suck, always.
    • Looked like Bryan hurt his wrist on the buckle bomb spot and worked it into the match, hopefully, nothing too serious.
    • 8PM main events are cotton candy that they need to stop doing because it kills the hype for the rest of the show.
    • Cody getting beat again amused me greatly.
    • It really felt like Ruby was carrying that match. The finish where she basically had to put herself in the lockjaw was the cherry on top, a bad night for Britt. Must have missed her consistency roll.
    • ROH's women's division has apparently ruined it for everyone. Noticeable drop in crowd volume for anything involving women.
    • Really worried for the last hour of Rampage.

  2. Owen Hart is All Elite!

AEW has partnered with the Owen Hart Foundation.

There will be new Owen Hart merch including an action figure and he'll be in the upcoming AEW video game.

They also announced the Owen Hart Cup with the winner receiving a trophy called The Owen.

    This is so dope

Also, a great excuse to get Bret back in a few times a year to present the trophy and do an angle or w/e. Hope it's based on the old Slammy design.

  3. Guys... It's not "sabotage" or whatever. Jesus, that take is so cringeworthy. And enough with the insane legal analysis of this.

This was, most likely, an act out of sudden paranoia, rather than a response to actual legal threats. Like, I said, the reasoning is a little strange and I don't quite understand it fully, but it's a fair point I guess.

This is a mod index thread that wasn't even really kept up too well. It's pointless to even think about it. If you think the thread is important, bump it twice a month.

It's literally pointless to spend any time thinking about this. Literally, who cares?

You need to go to school for real if you think I was offering legal analysis. That was merely me trying to reverse engineer the ridiculous headspace you'd have to be in to actually do this for the reason stated. Absolutely nobody gives a crap whether you've unpinned a resource thread on your non-indexed forums or not. It's absolutely baffling why this stance would ever be taken.

And it was legit quite annoying since I had to actually chase the link down initially because it was like page 2-3 for me after I spent like 15mins starring at the stickied threads wondering where the hell it was to post the link in that thread that popped up.

It's not like the sky is falling, I just assumed they hit the sticky limit, but then I heard this reasoning and now this is really something you really should care about because diaries may start poofing without warning, and mods may start getting taken down. If this is the stance they're taking moving forward.

That's why somebody should really clarify this. Because I'd be super worried if I was working on a RW mod right now. If you think that take is cringe. I don't know what to tell you honestly.

  4. I know we're long since beyond this, but can you imagine if The Undertaker had to cut that promo Finn Balor had to cut on Smackdown.

"My name used to be Mark Callaway, that was before I was killed... after being resurrected by the Paul Bearer's magic urn to be his minion of evil... I was slowly able to break free of the shackles of the destiny he had written for me to be possessed instead by the soul that once inhabited my body... that was when I discovered my love of tattoos and motorcycles, and with the help of my new friend Fred Durst, and the loins of Sara, and my 8 other wives loins, I was able to live the life that I always dreamed of! And I rolled over the WWE Universe!

However, I was unable to resist the call of the demonic forces that lie dormant inside me. And now The Undertaker isn't a part of me that I can control, it comes out of me when the rage inside me becomes more than I can bare..."

    Queue hilarious cellphone filter effect.

    These writers just print money.

  5. Will the mods ban people for spamming if they bump this to the top once a week? /s

The explanation is a little strange, but it's really not a big deal. Unfortunately there's other external websites that are much better kept up with and organized.

Ultimately this. I'm starting to ask why they even have forums in the first place if you can't actually use them anymore. Apparently, because Adam is so terrified that someone will sue him.

  6. "It's harder for them to find out" doesn't make it any less legally ambiguous for a company to promote content with intellectual property..?

LOL! Either you fall on the side that thinks the real world mods are illegal, in which case unpinning a forum post isn't going to do anything to save you from a DMCA takedown notice. You'd have to be an idiot to believe that. The only thing that saves you is a blanket ban on those mods and a removal of the mod tools from the game. Period.

Or you fall under the view that mods are freeware add-ons, that are rights-less community labors of love that utilize weakened trademarks that really can't be defended in any court of law. In the same way you can't sue people for referencing trademarks in a non-fiction book. Or you can't DMCA your wikipedia post.

No ambiguity here. You're either in column A or B. And doing stuff like this actually makes their cases against you stronger.

  7. Will the mods ban people for spamming if they bump this to the top once a week? /s

The explanation is a little strange, but it's really not a big deal. Unfortunately there's other external websites that are much better kept up with and organized.

The forums aren't even viewable unless you create an account. It's complete sabotage.

And if you say 15-minute time limit, the crowd will immediately know it's going to be a draw, and they will turn on it. </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46243" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>- Omega wins via DQ. Ric Flair isn't even the worst offender. You get an unbelievable picture of Brock Lesnar, Scott Hall, really everybody. It's an hour-long global smear on the wrestling business in that era. Tommy Dreamer just shrugs and says he believes she was out to get paid, which is horrible, but he's getting treated worse than Lesnar, Scott Hall, and Ric Flair here and 2/3rds of that list was an eyeblink from raping a flight attendant in drug-addled drunken apism, and the stories are corroborated. </p><p> </p><p> Don't get me wrong here, it's horrific. The Terry stuff is the worst of it to me because these flight attendants had to deal with these monkeys for 10hrs, and she had to deal with them for 15 years.</p>

Honestly, I had hoped for better from Dreamer, and I am extremely disappointed in his attitude about the incident.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I mean... people do remember he's an ECW guy right? Ric Flair swinging his donger is probably fairly tame in 2002 or whenever it was. I mean, people should read the Motley Crue road diaries book to see what the travel culture was like 30 years ago. The world was a very different place.</p><p> </p><p> EDIT: And before people think I'm condoning the activity, I'm not. I'm just not down with punishing people for expressing the feelings they had 20 years ago on a documentary. The purpose of these things is to have people be open and honest. Suspending them for stuff like this makes people have the opposite effect that you want. They just won't tell you next time.</p>

  13. <p>The one thing I forgot to add was how wrong I was about Ruby Soho, I thought she'd do really well as a change-of-pace vet option, but she's so much better than that. And she was held down so much harder by Vince than I could have imagined. </p><p> </p><p>

In the sea of "Is this a stripper, or a wrestler" style girls with very similar ring gear, all doing WWE PC stuff, under the big 4 or 5, she sticks right out in a really cool way. Rooting for that title match to be something special and for her to do some fun stuff with Rosa, Riho, and Shida down the line.</p>

  14. Who are you referring to as "goombas"? You complained about squash matches, then appeared to request Danielson vs. Michael Nakazawa.

The Goode Brothers, Brandon Cutler, The Bucks individually, Rich Swann take your pick. Omega shouldn't rerun the exact same angle he just ran. And Danielson really can't be losing his debut.

    • Eddie being pigeonholed into being Moxley's eternal butt buddy is very unfortunate.
    • Miro vs. Sammy makes next to no sense, as does the car thing. Very WWE booking.
    • Too many squash matches overall. The level of wrestling on TV has dropped quite a bit.
    • Team Taz is kinda irrelevant after 400 TV jobs, that stable has zero heat, and getting beat like a drum by the Punker isn't gonna help.
    • Do not like Omega vs. Danielson being booked for this show. Both are hurt too much by losing, Omega should have said no, and made Danielson chase him. The New York show is stacked already. Maybe do Danielson vs. one of the goombas. That would have been plenty.

  15. I can't see Chiampa being booked very strongly, and I can't see him going much beyond the next Takeover with the belt. It's going to be a slow burn over but I expect that show 6mo from now to be a wash of young tall Baron Corbin clones with a few decent talents peppered in, having Miz matches in front of a few hundred people and trying to stay above a few hundred thousand viewers.

Because that's what Vince wants, a pipeline of guys he likes. The HHH trojan horse has failed. And it failed in a glorious way of spurring a brand new company into existence. Nobody should be sad about that. Unless you want WWE to make a big comeback and morph back into its 80s or 90s powerhouse years. But it's been 20 years, that ship sailed and it is never coming back.

  16. ugh, as an AEW watched I wish Jonnhy the best but hope he doesn't join.

The AEW roster is just about where I want it, and will prob need to absord Kevin Owens because the EVP's love him. We don't need more Upper Midcard guys

The heel turn has been a tragedy, and the stuff he's been doing is goofy and dumb. But from 2016 to the end of 2019 he was the Messi of wrestling. I question if he wants to be that guy again, he also has family on his mind. But if he wants it, Johnny Wrestling is the only worker on Omega and Okada's level. And I'm being kind to Omega, who hasn't been that guy outside of the Bucks tag match eons ago. He's still great, but he's 2nd or 3rd Best Bout Machine these days. Owens I think can talk his way through the crowd and especially if he works heel he could be absolute money.

This is why I was so not thrilled with all the filler guys coming in. Now the real guys like Ricochet and Gable are going to come up, who have been abused and will need to be rehabbed, and they're gonna get marooned in WWE hell because Paul Wight and Mark Henry needed spots. This isn't the end of the potential signings. Are you not signing Io Sharai, Sasha, or Devitt? I'd want all 3. I remember making a list of all the guys I wanted to rescue from the evil empire a while ago and it was a big, big list. Roster bloat is a real issue here. The Forbidden Door concept is going to have to turn into the Frequently Opened Double Dutch Door. IMPACT, NJPW, AAA, hell send ROH free guys, and help them get back in the game... or at the very least buy them out and use them as a developmental brand that they've really been for the past 15 years.

They also have to keep the momentum going. These recent signings have given them the feel of a company on the rise. The more guys they take, the bigger that feeling that the tide has turned becomes. I don't really think they can afford to stop at this point.

  17. So I had two ideas as it pertains to creating Tournament Prestige.

-Create a setting where you can say how important a tournament is. I know individual tournament matches don't add any extra attributes than a regular match, but this way if you're booking a 32-man world title tournament and book Madusa vs Evan Karagias that will bring down the prestige of a main event tournament. You could use it similarly to the Storyline feature.

-Have annual tournament prestige, like with events. Make it a special deal if you're booking the G-1 or the King of the Ring, for instance. You can still have a tournament title for the winner, but it adds more prestige to shows that are predominantly tournament matches.

Historically, tournaments are losers in wrestling. The only ones that get over are ones that are extraordinarily well-booked, and well protected, and I think that the special titles/trophies do the job of elevating special events like the Rumble and the G-1 well enough. At the end of the day, a tournament is just a booking tool. It has no inherent value or prestige. Having the event itself build prestige, and the title build prestige, with a storyline that pops at the event with an added prestige for the tournament, seems way too abusable to me.

  18. Improving the AI to understand and utilize medium and long-term booking concepts would probably go a significant way to solving talent trade issues. But short of that, just having an option to "cheat" and force companies to agree to trades and swaps would help a ton for booking NWA-style diaries and such. The only other option I see is to do multiplayer as an end-around but having to run all those companies and deal with all that clicking through would make saves significantly less enjoyable.
  19. The solution would be a decaying overness penalty for unemployed workers. Because the problem would be that they would absolutely be massively OP for anyone that could bring them in, even on a short-term deal. I think this coupled with a "nostalgia pop" system would probably work. This way they could still be seen as stars at a certain level, but not be used to cheese from Small to medium in like 2 months of spamming shows.
