  1. Gastelum vs. Souza II to headline next Fight Night Gastelum vs. Souza II to headline next Fight Night Saturday of Week 4 of July 2020 The UFC today announced their return to Tennessee, and the ‘Volunteer State’ will play host to a big rematch in the middleweight division as TUF 17 winner Kelvin Gastelum will tangle once more with submission master Ronaldo Souza. Gastelum and Souza first clashed back at UFC 224, in a hard-fought contest that saw Gastelum emerge victorious by split-decision. Souza has been waiting over two years to avenge the close loss, and now he’ll have that chance when the UFC octagon touches down in Tennessee. Yet he’ll be facing an opponent coming off a major victory, a knockout win over former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker, and another win, and a definitive one, for Gastelum could be enough for him to gain another crack at middleweight gold. In the co-main event, veteran featherweights Mirsad Bektic and Jeremy Stephens will collide in a fight that is sure to bring the fireworks. Lina Lansberg and Raquel Pennington fight to rise up the ranks in the women’s bantamweight division. Former strawweight champion Carla Esparza continues her quest towards reclaiming the gold when she takes on the controversial Felice Herrig. In what could provide a highlight reel finish, Ion Cutelaba will face Tyson Pedro, and the main card kicks off with the British standout Leon Edwards looking to get back to winning ways when he faces the tough James Krause. All this, and a loaded preliminary card, takes place on Saturday of Week 3 of September in Tennessee. 5. ‘The Stun Gun’ to headline the UFC’s return to Asia ‘The Stun Gun’ to headline UFC’s return to Asia Saturday of Week 3 of July 2020 The UFC returns to Asia for their next Fight Night, and the headline attraction will see the area’s most popular fighter, ‘The Stun Gun’ Dong Hyun Kim take on Russian standout Alexey Kunchenko. The always-dangerous Kim is returning home off the back of a decisive knockout win over former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos, whilst Kunchenko’s last fight saw him neutralize Bryan Barbarena en route to a second round TKO victory, so the main event is sure to be an explosive encounter. Another popular fighter, ‘The Korean Superboy’ Doo Ho Choi, looks to build on the momentum of a dominant win over Alex Caceras when he faces Enrique Barzola, who is determined to bounce back from a close lose to Nathanial Wood. Kyung Ho Kang goes up against Vince Morales, with Morales last outing seeing him finish Tim Elliot in the first round. Ben Askren makes his eagerly awaited return to action, but he won’t have it easy because his opponent is the very dangerous Gilbert Burns. Montana de la Rosa, after a comprehensive win over Antonina Shevchenko, faces Lauren Murphy, whose own previous win was also emphatic, as she knocked out Roxanne Modafferi. And the main card kicks off with the returning Bec Rawlings taking on Hannah Cifers. All this action, and a loaded undercard, takes place on Saturday of Week 2 of September in East Asia. Main Card Welterweight: Dong Hyun Kim (23-4-1, 1NC) vs. Alexey Kunchenko (21-2) Featherweight: Enrique Barzola (16-5-2) vs. Doo Ho Choi (15-4) Bantamweight: Kyung Ho Kang (18-8, 1NC) vs. Vince Morales(10-4) Welterweight: Ben Askren (19-2, 1NC) vs. Gilbert Burns(18-4) Women’s Flyweight: Montana de la Rosa (12-5) vs. Lauren Murphy(13-4) Women’s Strawweight: Hannah Cifers (10-4) vs. Bec Rawlings(9-9) Preliminary Card Light Heavyweight: Jake Collier (15-4) vs. Shamil Gamzatov (15-0) Heavyweight: Jarjis Danho (5-1-1, 1NC) vs. Justin Tafa (4-1) Featherweight: Darrick Minner (24-11) vs. Chas Skelly (18-4) Bantamweight: Andre Ewell (16-6) vs. Chris Guiterrez (14-3-1) Women’s Strawweight: Istela Nunes (7-1, 1NC) vs. Ashley Yoder (7-5) Middleweight: Kevin Holland (16-5) vs. Bradley Scott (11-6) Middleweight: Abu Azaitar (14-2-1) vs. John Phillips (22-9, 1NC) Welterweight: Miguel Baeza (8-0) vs. Mickey Gall (6-2) Featherweight: Kron Gracie (5-1) vs. Suman Mokhtarian (8-2) Lightweight: Jared Gordon (15-4) vs. Vinc Pichel (12-2)

  7. UFC Fight Night 176: Brown vs. Oliveira UFC Fight Night 176: Brown vs. Oliveira Date: Saturday of Week 3 of July 2020 Location: Vermont Attendance: 2,717 Gate: $412,984 Critical Rating: 71%Commercial Rating: 72% Commentary Team: Jon Anik, Dan Hardy and Brendan Fitzgerald Preliminary Card Bantamweight: Said Nurmagomedov (14-2) vs. Ricky Simon (15-3) Although neither fighter had perfect accuracy with their strikes, Simon was a little more precise, and, early on, he opened up a cut just above the hairline of Nurmagomedov. It gave Nurmagomedov enough trouble that the referee paused the fight for the ringside doctor to take a look, and the doctor ruled Nurmagomedov unable to continue due to the positioning and severity of the cut. In his post-fight interview, Simon said that, whilst he was happy to have won, a victory in this manner is no way to win a fight. Result: Ricky Simon beat Said Nurmagomedov by TKO due to a cut in 3:08 of Round 1 Women’s Flyweight: Maycee Barber (8-1) vs. Wu Yanan (10-3) This was a fairly good, competitive fight, one with a very simple story; if it was standing, Wu was dominant, but on the ground, it was Barber was dictating things. Wu won the first round with her stand-up, but Barber was able to get her clinching and ground going in the second and third rounds, controlling the action, although not always being that active, and doing enough to take the rounds on the scorecards and getting the unanimous decision victory. Despite giving a somewhat generic interview, Barber still showed star power and charisma and she made a good impression. Result: Maycee 'The Future' Barber beat Wu Yanan by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28 and 29-28) Women’s Flyweight: Poliana Botelho (8-2) vs. Sabina Mazo (8-0) Although this was a decent fight, there was little excitement for the casual fan due to Mazo’s strategy of using clinch work to control and smother Botelho, which, whilst effective, gave fans not much to cheer for. Even with a rather uneventful victory, Mazo handled herself well in her post-fight interview and came off strong. Result: Sabina 'Colombian Queen' Mazo beat Poliana Botelho by unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27 and 30-27) Light Heavyweight: Dalcha Lungiambula (10-2) vs. Marcin Prachnio (13-4) Prachnio completely dominated Lungiambula for as long as this fight lasted, landing seemingly at will before a superb right high kick knocked Lungiambula out cold. Prachnio acknowledged his underdog status in his post-fight interview, but he said that he always believed himself and he was confident that he had what it took to win. Result: Marcin Prachnio beat Dalcha 'Champion' Lungiambula by knockout (kick) in 3:10 of Round 1 Lightweight: Drew Dober (22-9, 1 NC) vs. James Vick (13-5) This fight was good for as long as it lasted, but didn’t last long, though; Vick needed little over a minute to stun Dober with a right high kick before getting a hold of his opponent and knocking him out with a knee to the face. Vick’s call-out of Anthony Pettis in his post-fight was not an eyebrow raiser in itself, but people did take note of Vick’s claim that he doubted Pettis would have the guts to accept the challenger. It’s not often you see anyone doubt the courage of ‘Showtime’. Result: 'The Texecutioner' James Vick beat Drew Dober by knockout (knee) in 1:31 of Round 1 Heavyweight: Jeff Hughes (10-3, 1 NC) vs. Ben Sosoli (7-3, 2 NC) This was another fight that wasn’t bad but also didn’t light anyone’s world on fire. Sosoli dominated the fight throughout, both on the ground and standing up. Hughes’ didn’t do much to suggest he was ever in this fight, so it was a big surprise that Sosoli only won by majority decision, as one judge somehow ruled the fight a draw. This was something that Sosoli had no hesitation in bringing up in his post-fight interview, openly wondering how anyone could have scored the fight a draw, Sosoli also saying he was disappointed in not getting the unanimous decision. Result: Ben 'Combat Wombat' Sosoli beat 'Lights Out' Jeff Hughes by majority decision (29-28, 30-27 and 29-29) Welterweight: Dhiego Lima (15-7) vs. Jake Matthews (16-4) In what followed the pattern set by earlier fights, this was a fight that was decent but involved little to get excited about, with one fighter comfortably dominating the other. In this case, Matthews dominated Lima, and the only real excitement, such as it was, came early in the third round when Lima hit Matthews with a jab that opened up a cut on Matthews’ forehead. Result: 'The Celtic Kid' Jake Matthews beat Dhiego Lima by unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28 and 30-27) Heavyweight: Greg Hardy (5-2, 1 NC) vs. Chi Lewis- Parry (8-0) Hardy came into this fight as the bigger fighter, having at least 30lbs on Lewis-Parry, but that advantage proved to be of no advantage once he took Lewis-Parry down because Lewis-Parry immediately threw up his legs for a triangle choke, and he got the hold in deep and Hardy was forced to tap out. Result: Chi 'Chopper' Lewis-Parry beat Greg Hardy by submission due to a triangle choke in 3:48 of Round 1 Women’s Strawweight: Alexa Grasso (11-3) vs. Angela Hill (12-7) Combining a constant pace of action and a mixture of boxing and kickboxing, Hill methodically and systematically outworked Grasso for the entirety of this fight, and eased to a unanimous decision victory. Never one to let the spotlight go to waste, Hill used her interview time to call for a fight with Yan Xiaonan. Result: Angela 'Overkill' Hill beat Alexa Grasso by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27 and 30-27) Middleweight: Andre Muniz (19-4) vs. Bruno Silva (19-6) The Muay Thai training of Muniz was the decider on this one; once he got hold of Silva, his opponent was in trouble, and a precision vicious knee strike was all it took to knock Silva out and he crumpled into a heap on the ground. Result: 'Sergipano' Andre Muniz beat Bruno 'Blindado' Silva by knockout (knee) in 2:35 of Round 1 Main Card Women’s Flyweight: Alexis Davis (19-10) vs. Jessica Eye (15-7, 1NC) Eye put in a solid workman...workwomanlike performance to dominate Alexis Davis for much of this fight’s duration. Eye was too quick with her head movement and too precise with her striking for Davis to handle. Davis’s only moments of success came in the second round when, for about a minute, she had Eye pressed up against the fence and worked her over with dirty boxing. Other than that, this fight was all Jessica Eye, Perhaps buoyed on by her performance, Eye called out the UFC Women’s Flyweight Champion, Valentina Shevchenko, which, as noted on commentary, was quite the declaration considering their previous meeting ended with Eye the victim of one of the most brutal knocks out of all time. Result: Jessica 'Evil' Eye beat 'Ally-Gator' Alexis Davis by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27 and 30-27) Women’s Bantamweight: Aspen Ladd (9-1) vs. Ketlen Viera (10-1) In the first round, Ladd was able to thwart Viera’s initial attempts to take her down with a judo throw, Ladd then responding with some great strikes, both punches and kicks, that lit Viera up. Viera was eventually to take Ladd down with a judo throw, although she couldn’t do much as Ladd was successfully able to neutralise her. The second round was barely able to develop before a right head kick from Ladd had Viera on rubbery legs, with a big right hand putting her down. The requisite ground-and-pound followed and Ladd was landing some powerful shots that forced the referee to intercede and stop the fight. Although she wasn’t the best of talkers in her post-fight interview, Ladd was extremely photogenic and came off as someone special. Result: Aspen Ladd beat Ketlen 'Fenomeno' Vieira by TKO due to strikes in 0:54 of Round 2 Middleweight: Jack Hermansson (20-5) vs. Andrew Sanchez (11-5) Hermansson survived a scare early in the first round, getting wobbled by a hard right hand, to come back with a strong output for the remainder of the stanza, Hermansson perhaps aware that he needed something like that to offset the visual of being on shaky feet. Sanchez was the one who came on the strongest in the second round, working very hard to get back into the fight, which he did, so it was looking tied heading into the third round. The third round was equally competitive; Sanchez landed some good shots and bloodied up Hermansson, who responded by muscling Sanchez up against the fence and controlling him there for quite a while. It was a hard-fought contest, very engaging, and it seemed like it could go either way, which was played out in the scoring as it went to Hermansson but only by split-decision. Hermansson’s post-fight interview was a good one, the Swede proving himself to be a capable talker. Result: Jack 'The Joker' Hermansson beat Andrew 'El Dirte' Sanchez by split decision (29-28, 29-28 and 28-29) Featherweight: Cub Swanson (26-11) vs. Sodiq Yusuff (14-1) Next up was a strong contender for Fight of the Night, with the co-main event of the evening. It was a fight that saw Sodiq Yussuf come in as a relative unknown, and emerge with something of name, as he put in a great performance against the resilient and tough Cub Swanson. Yussuf was always coming forward, always applying pressure to Swanson and setting a pace that Swanson had real problems dealing with. Even with Yussuf somewhat slowing down in the second round, allowing Swanson to land some good shots that Yussuf dealt well with, it wasn’t enough to stop Yussuf from dominating the action. In the third round, Yussuf slowed down even more, the pace finally taking its toll on his stamina, but even then he was still too quick for Swanson to adequately deal with, and as the round ended, Yussuf raised his arms in triumph, knowing that he had put in the best performance of his career. To no surprise whatsoever, Yussuf took the fight by unanimous decision, winning all three rounds on all three scorecards. Yussuf complemented his fight performance with a post-fight interview that showed he can sell himself as well as a he can fight, and it seemed like Yussuf is a star in the making. Result: 'Super' Sodiq Yusuff beat Cub Swanson by unanimous decision (30-37, 30-27 and 30-27) Welterweight: Matt Brown (22-16) vs. (22-16) Alex Oliveira (20-8-1, 2NC) The main event was upon us, and the fans were ready for it as they were expecting a real banger, which is exactly what they got. For the duration of the fight, Brown and Oliveira were both fairly aggressive, coming forward with strong punches and kicks, yet always mindful of what was coming back in return. Each fighter landed their share of good shots that were bound to leave a mark, so it was hard to gauge who won the first round, but Oliveira’s head movement may have just about swung it in his favour. The second round followed a very similar pattern to the first, with both fighters consistently coming forward, fighting aggressively, with defensive tactics seemingly the furthest thing from their minds. By the midway point of the round, such an approach was starting to take a toll on the stamina of both men and their pace slowed down a little. But it wasn’t long after this that the fight came to a sudden and abrupt end, when Brown surprised Oliveira with stiff head kick that dropped the ‘Cowboy’. Taking his chance, Brown went for the finish, unloading on Oliveira with some powerful shots that gave the referee no choice but to stop the fight. Result: 'The Immortal' Matt Brown beat Alex 'Cowboy' Oliveira by TKO due to strikes in 3:16 of Round 2 Post-Fight Bonuses Fight of the Night: Cub Swanson vs. Sodiq Yussuf Performance of the Night: Marcin Prachnio Knockout of the Night: Andre Muniz Submission of the Night: Chi Lewis-Parry

  11. News Blast Monday of Week 2 of July 2020 Wednesday of Week 2 of July 2020
  12. UFC on ESPN 9: Chiesa vs. Diaz UFC on ESPN 9: Chiesa vs. Diaz Date: Saturday of Week 1 of July 2020 Location: Pennsylvania Attendance: 4,764 Gate: $782,296 Critical Rating: 73% Commercial Rating: 91% Commentary Team: Jon Anik, Joe Rogan and Dan Hardy Preliminary Card Women’s Flyweight: J.J Aldrich (8-4) vs. Polyana Viana(10-4) The night’s action got off to an exciting start with a quality fight that saw J.J. Aldrich combining head movement and footwork to outclass Polyana Viana, the ending coming after a powerful straight right dropped Viana, with the follow up ground-and-pound finishing her off. Result: J.J. Aldrich beat Polyana 'Dama de Ferro' Viana by TKO due to strikes in 4:11 of Round 1 Bantamweight: Kwan Ho Kwak (9-2) vs. Pinguyan Liu (15-6) Primarily using his grappling and ground game, Liu dominated this fight, mixing clinch work and submission attempts, with Kwak unable to offer more than token resistance throughout. Liu’s post-match interview was surprisingly lively, with the young man showing a lot of charisma. Result: Pingyuan Liu beat 'Handsome' Kwan Ho Kwak by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27 and 30-27) Bantamweight: Thomas Almeida (22-3) vs. Johnny Eduardo (28-12) The first round was fairly even in the stand-up, although the latter half of it saw Eduardo dominate Almeida on the ground, and the second round was equally competitive before a stunning right hook from Almeida dropped Eduard, with Almeida pouncing on Eduard with barrage of punches to get the stoppage. Almeida used his post-fight interview as a platform to call for a fight with Merab Dvalishvili. Result: Thomas 'Thominhas' Almeida beat Johnny 'Pretinho' Eduardo by TKO due to strikes in 2:36 of Round 2 Lightweight: Thibault Gouti (12-5) vs. Michael Quinones (8-3) Within the first minute, Quinones was dropped and rocked and getting battered, but he held on and managed to survive, although he was dominated for the rest of the round. Quinones was likewise dominated in the second round, and was cut up in the process, putting him well behind heading into the third round of what was a great fight. The third round was more of the same as Gouti was completely dominant. And then Quinones landed a vicious right cross and dropped Gouti. Quinones literally jumped on his chance to finish the fight and he unloaded a series of massive right hands, battering Gouti, and he was able to keep this up long enough to force the stoppage and complete an incredible comeback victory. Result: Michel 'El Capo' Quinones beat Thibault 'GT' Gouti by TKO due to strikes in 3:39 of Round 3 Light Heavyweight: Devin Clark (11-4) vs. Shamil Gamzatov (14-0) Despite coming into this fight as the big underdog, it was Gamzatov who was in command for much of this contest, putting his weight advantage to good use at various points. Clark did come on strong in the second round, dominating Gamzatov on the ground, but he couldn’t actually do much damage and it wasn’t enough to overcome Gamzatov’s earlier superiority. Confidence was not in short supply for Gamzatov in his post-fight interview, as he called out William Knight for his next outing. Result: Shamil Gamzatov beat Devin 'Brown Bear' Clark by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28 and 29-28) Flyweight: Raulian Paiva (19-3) vs. Matt Schnell*(missed weight) (14-5) Paiva put in a performance that belied his underdog status, Paiva really taking the fight to Schnell and making this a much more competitive affair than the oddsmakers predicted. And it was Paiva who brought the excitement to the fight, with much of Schnell’s control coming by way of smothering Paiva against the cage or on the ground. Despite Paiva’s performance, it was Schnell who took the fight when it went to the judges, although it was a close enough fight that Schnell only won by split decision. Result: Matt 'Danger' Schnell beat Raulian Paiva by split decision (29-28, 29-28 and 28-29) Women’s Bantamweight: Bethe Correia (11-4-1) vs. Sara McMann (12-5) Sara McMann’s early clinch work was successful but it was a false dawn with Correia quickly pulling guard and then surprising her opponent with an armbar from the guard and securing a quick tap. Result: Bethe 'Pitbull' Correia beat Sara McMann by submission due to an armbar in 1:51 of Round 1 Bantamweight: Raphael Assuncao (27-7) vs. Rani Yahya(26-10-1, 1NC) This was a fight that was contested almost entirely on the ground, both fighters exchanging submission attempts and escapes in a series of engrossing exchanges that also included scrambles and attempts to pass the guard. There was some striking in the latter stages of the third round, but beyond that this was a battle of the ground games. The fight went the distance and, despite the competitive nature of the fight, the scoring was surprisingly one-sided with Assuncao not only winning by unanimous decision, but getting all three rounds on two of the scorecards. Result: Raphael Assuncao beat Rani Yahya by unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28 and 30-27) Welterweight: Abdul Razak Alhassan (10-1) vs. Anthony Martin (17-5) For as long as this fight lasted, it was pretty exciting, and it ended with great scramble on the mat that saw Martin come out on top and manage to sink in a tight armbar to for the submission from Alhassan. Result: Anthony 'Rocco' Martin beat 'Judo Thunder' Abdul Razak Alhassan by submission due to an armbar in 2:35 of Round 1 Featherweight: Arnold Allen (16-1) vs. Darren Elkins (24-8) For the second straight fight, a mad scramble on the mat ended with a first round submission finish, and this time it was Arnold Allen who was the beneficiary as he pulled off the rarely-seen bulldog choke to elicit a tap from Darren Elkins. Result: Arnold 'Almighty' Allen beat Darren 'The Damage' Elkins by submission due to a bulldog choke in 2:54 of Round 1 Main Card Light Heavyweight: Volkan Oezdemir (17-4) vs. Nikita Krylov (26-7) The first round of this fight saw Krylov get cut right away thanks to a punch, but that didn’t seem to faze Krylov as, a minute later, he dropped Oezdemir with a super head kick. Krylov tried to get the finish with ground-and-pound but Oezdemir offered enough resistance that Krylov began going for an armbar from side-control; he couldn’t get the hold applied, but he did force Oezdemir to sweep which allowed Krylov to take his back, and Oezdemir spent the rest of the round having to fend off a determined effort by Kylov to secure a rear naked choke. In the second round is when things began to shift because Krylov slowed down over the course of the round, and, thanks to a lot of pressure and clinching against the cage by Oezdemir, Krylov was looking exhausted when the round was over and Oezdemir was firmly in the driver’s seat. The third round was almost entirely Oezdemir clinching with Krylov, pressing him against the cage, and later controlling him on the ground. However, Oezdemir was tiring himself, and ended up getting mounted by Krylov near the end of the round; but Krylov was too exhausted to put any power in his ground-and-pound and the round and fight came to an end. The judging reflected the nature of the fight with Oezdemir getting 29-28 on all three scorecards. Result: Volkan 'No Time' Oezdemir beat Nikita 'The Miner' Krylov by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28 and 29-28) Women’s Bantamweight: Irene Aldana (12-5) vs. Julianna Peña (9-3) As exciting as this fight was for its short duration, it was also fairly one-sided with Aldana effectively walking right through Pena, dropping her with a superb head kick and following up with some ground-and-pound to get the finish. Result: Irene 'Robles' Aldana beat Julianna 'The Venezuelan Vixen' Pena by TKO due to strikes in 1:21 of Round 1 Women’s Flyweight: Roxanne Modafferi (21-6) vs. Lauren Murphy (12-4) Although Roxanne Modafferi gave a good accounting of herself, Lauren Murphy was just that little bit better on this night. It was a competitive stand-up fight, neither fighter looking to take it to the ground, with Murphy was the sharper and more aggressive fighter, and she dropped Modafferi in the second round with a powerful right hook. Murphy then pounded on Modafferi, with one shot finally ending the resistance to leave Modafferi out cold. Result: Lauren 'The Pirate' Murphy beat Roxanne 'The Happy Warrior' Modafferi by knockout (punch) in 2:59 of Round 2 Middleweight: Robbie Lawler (28-14, 1NC) vs. Diego Sanchez (30-12) This was a good fight, albeit somewhat sloppy at times as both fighters seemed to miss just as many shots as they landed. It was the total stand-up fight that most would have expected, with neither fighter making any attempt to take the fight to the ground. The decisive moment came fairly early in the second round when Lawler landed a wicked left uppercut that put Sanchez on rubber legs before ‘Nightmare’ finally fell to the floor. Lawler capitalised with some powerful ground-and-pound to finish the job, with the referee quickly pulling Lawler off of Sanchez to end the fight. In his post-fight interview, Lawler made an interesting callout as he expressed a desire to face Damian Meia. Result: 'Ruthless' Robbie Lawler beat Diego 'The Nightmare' Sanchez by TKO due to strikes in 1:44 of Round 2 Heavyweight: Junior Dos Santos (21-7) vs. Anthony Johnson (22-6) It was now time for co-main event of the evening, with Anthony Johnson making his highly anticipated return to the octagon, in his first UFC fight in the heavyweight division, taking on the former champion Junior Dos Santos. In the pre-fight staredown, it was obvious that Johnson was the much bigger fighter, having at least 35lbs on Dos Santos, and it was speculated on commentary as to what kind of effect this would have on the fight. Early on, the added weight didn’t appear to be too much of a detriment for Johnson who had the better head movement and was the faster fighter, with Johnson avoiding a lot of what Dos Santos tried to land whilst also landing shots that Dos Santos couldn’t seem to avoid. The pace slowed down a little, which favoured Dos Santos; JDS fell back on his boxing skill to throw a flurry of punches that culminated with a right hook! Johnson wobbled, clearly hurt by the punch, but he managed to stay upright. Another right hook from Dos Santos finally put Johnson down; JDS quickly knelt beside Johnson and hammered him with a series of punches, one after the other; Johnson was taking punch after punch, offering no defence, and the referee was quick to step and stop the fight, and the former champion had spoiled the comeback of Anthony Johnson and perhaps re-established himself in the heavyweight division. Result: Junior 'Cigano' dos Santos beat Anthony 'Rumble' Johnson by TKO due to strikes in 2:42 of Round 1 Welterweight: Michael Chiesa (17-4) vs. Nate Diaz (20-12) The main event was now upon us, as Nate Diaz appeared in the octagon for the first time since losing out on the ‘BMF’ title to Jorge Masvidal, to take on Michael Chiesa, another former lightweight who was had also found success in the welterweight division. For the first couple of minutes the fight was all stand-up with both fighters having their share of success. Chiesa then took the fight the ground, taking Diaz down with a single leg. Yet he was unable to deliver any meaningful offence because Diaz, an expert off his back, kept threatening with submissions and positional improvement, forcing Chiesa to remain on the defensive for the rest of the round. Diaz opened up the second round with a flurry punches that tagged Chiesa; Chiesa responded to this by taking Diaz down to the mat, clearly wanting no part of Diaz’s stand-up game. But Diaz is dangerous on the ground, and Chiesa spend three solid minutes of fending off Diaz’s attempts to secure the rubber guard before stalling the action enough for force the fight to be stood up. With little time left in the round, Chiesa clinched up with Diaz to try and force him back up against the face, perhaps looking to neutralize Diaz, but the Stockton native was able to thwart the attempt and the round ended with Diaz in the driving seat. The third round followed a similar pattern to the second round; Chiesa faring poorly in the stand-up and responding to that by taking Diaz down to the mat. On commentary, it was pointed out that Chiesa was having problems with Diaz wherever the fight goes. As in the previous round, Chiesa was forced to defend and fend off various submissions, and this time he had to do so while trapped in the rubber guard. When the round ended, it was a very confident Diaz who walked back to his corner, while Chiesa appeared to be totally bewildered by how things were going. Chiesa had little time to remain bewildered and little time to do much of anything in the fourth round. It took less than thirty seconds for Diaz to land a jab/right cross combination that floored Chiesa. Diaz promptly pounded away on Chiesa, landing several big shots and, with Chiesa offering no defence, the referee had to jump in and stop the fight. Result: Nate Diaz beat Michael 'Maverick' Chiesa by TKO due to strikes in 0:52 of Round 4 Post-Fight Bonuses Fight of the Night: Nikita Krylov vs. Volkan Oezdemir Performance of the Night: Junior Dos Santos Knockout of the Night: Lauren Murphy Submission of the Night: Arnold Allen Predictions CageRage : (10/16) CageRage (Overall): (82/149) azpelayo21: (10/16) azpelayo21 (Overall): (10/16)

The main event of UFC 253 is a rematch of the controversial headliner of UFC 247 from this past February, when Jones retained his light heavyweight title with a unanimous decision win over Reyes. The result was controversial because it was widely felt that Reyes had done more than enough to wrest the light heavyweight title from the long-time champion, yet the judges saw things differently and gave the fight to Jones by unanimous decision, giving Reyes the first loss of his career. This time out, however, both men will be looking to ensure that there is no controversy over how the fight ends as they each look to make a definitive statement and walk out of UFC 253 as the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion. In the co-main event of the evening, the UFC Flyweight Championship will be decided as Kai Kara-France faces Alexandre Pantoja. The flyweight title has been vacant since the former champion, Henry Cejudo, elected to move to bantamweight permanently, having won the bantamweight title and deciding to focus on defending that championship. Now, it’s time the fill the vacancy in one of the UFC’s most action-packed division. Both of these fighters enter this championship contest with impressive record; Kara-France has only lost once in his last eleven fights, with his last fight seeing Kara-France knock out Rogerio Bontorin with a blistering series of punches. Meanwhile, Pantoja is 22-4, a record that includes an 11-fight win streak. Kara-France and Pantjoja will enter UFC 253 on top-form, but only one of them will leave as the new UFC Flyweight Champion. Who will walk out of UFC 253 with the flyweight gold? UFC 253 will also see the long-awaited return to action of Thiago Santos. Santos last fought at UFC 239 in July of last year when he challenged Jon Jones for the light heavyweight title. While Santos took Jones to a split-decision, becoming the first fighter to ever win a scorecard against Jones, Santos not only lost the fight but he also suffered a horrible knee injury as Santos suffered a torn left LCL, PCL, MCL, meniscus, cracked his Tibia, as well as partially tore his right ACL. Santos will be look to prove that he can still compete at the highest level when he returns to action at UFC 253, but his opponent will be a resurgent Johnny Walker, who himself has something to prove, with his much-hyped progress up the light heavyweight ladder being stunted with back-to-back losses to Corey Anderson and Nikita Krylov. Walker got back into the win column with a victory over Gadzhimurad Antigulov earlier in the year, and now, at UFC 253, he will be hoping to show the kind of form that had fighters and fans alike touting Walker as a future champion. We’ll also see a top clash in the women’s strawweight division when Michelle Waterson goes up against Yan Xiaonan. Waterson, a long-time fan favourite, is coming off a hard-fought loss to former champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk, a fight where Waterson pushed her opponent to the limit. For Yan, she will looking to extend her unbeaten run to 12 fights, and a win over Waterson, especially an emphatic one, could put Yan in line for a shot at division champion Weili Zhang. A bruising clash in the heavyweight division pits Walt Harris against Marcin Tybura, and the main card opens up with another rematch, this one featuring the return to action of the legendary Anderson Silva, as he takes on Chris Weidman. These two men have fought twice before and, even though Weidman won both fights, neither victory was decisive; the first fight saw Silva’s notorious showmanship backfire, whilst the second fight saw Silva suffer one of the most horrific injuries in the history of MMA, and all of sports. Can Weidman once and for all beat Silva decisively, or will Silva turn back the clock and finally shine against his perennial rival? All this action, and a loaded undercard, takes place on Saturday of Week 4 of August in Oklahoma. Unfortunately for Kape, the fight went into the third round and a combination of fatigue and a well-timed takedown saw the tide of battle turn in favour of Askarov; a scramble by Kape gave Askarov the chance to take his back, which he took. For most of the first two rounds, Suarez had Gadelha either pressed up against the fence or was smothering her on ground, wearing her down with a slow, grinding attack designed to sap Gadelha’s stamina. Gadelha did have her moments, and she managed to open up a cut above Suarez’s eye early in the second round, but the first two rounds were all Suarez.</span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> The third round was more competitive, at least in the first half, with all stand-up action, and enough of it to get the fans a little warmed up. At the half-way point, though, Suarez went in for another takedown, and, while Gadelha did catch her with a guillotine that was almost locked on tight, she couldn’t get the tap and had to let go of the hold in case she burned her arms out. The rest of the round saw Suarez keep firm control of Gadelha on the ground, and when the round ended, Suarez was confident of victory.</span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> Because of how the fight played out, there was a moment of shock when the scoring was being announced and one judge had given Gadelha two rounds on their scorecard. However, the other two judges scored the fight for Suarez, giving her the split decision victory.</span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> Not one to allow her confidence to be affected by a questionable call, Suarez assertively called for a fight with Rose Namajunas, who would soon be challenging for the women’s strawweight championship. Suarez admitted that it would be a tough fight, but she said that that didn’t deter her from wanting to face Namajunas.</span></p><p> </p><p> <span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><em>Result:</em></span></strong></span></span> Tatiana Suarez <strong><em>beat</em></strong> Claudia 'Claudinha' Gadelha <span style="color:#000080;"><strong>by split decision </strong></span><span style="color:#000080;"><strong><em>(29-28, 29-28 and 28-29)</em></strong></span> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="RFwiZww.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/RFwiZww.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="jd3Ws5b.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/jd3Ws5b.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="IofeA41.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/IofeA41.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <span style="font-family:Verdana;"><strong>Middleweight:</strong></span> Kelvin Gastelum <em>(16-5, 1NC)</em> <span style="color:#A0522D;"><strong>vs.</strong></span> Robert Whittaker <em>(20-5)</em></p><p> </p><p> <span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';">With former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker making his return to action after taking time off in the wake of losing his title, there was a lot of attention and anticipation surrounding this fight. The first thing people noticed in this fight was during the staredown, with Gastelum being noticeable heavier than Whittaker, which wasn’t entirely a surprise as Gastelum, when he was competing in the welterweight division, frequently had problems making the 170lbs weight limit.</span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> The first round was very competitive with Gastelum, surprisingly, not employing the wrestling attack that most would have expected him to, Gastelum instead choosing to keep it standing with Whittaker. That in itself made the competitive nature of the first round also a surprise given that Whittaker is considered the more vaunted striker of the two. That said, Whittaker did mix up his strikes a lot more, throwing a variety of kicks; Gastelum throw almost entirely punches, a lot of them with a lot of power. Whittaker’s kicks were mainly delivered to the lead leg and body of Gastelum, and, when the round ended, it seemed to be a round that just about went the way of the former middleweight champion.</span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> In the second round, Gastelum begin firing off some leg kicks of his own, but most of them didn’t connect. Gastelum went back to punches and it wasn’t long before he was breathing heavier. For his part, Whittaker continued to mix up his attack and he was going a good job of keeping Gastelum off-balance. Then, at the half-way mark of the round, Gastelum landed the first serious shot of the fight; Whittaker missed a left hook and Gastelum responded with a jab and then a vicious left cross. It caught Whittaker flush and he wobbled for a moment before his legs gave out on him and he fell to the mat.</span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> Gastelum jumped to a prone Whittaker and began hammering away on Whittaker like his life depended on it, and referee Marc Goddard was given no choice but to jump in and stop the fight.</span></p><p> </p><p> <span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><em>Result:</em></span></strong></span></span> Kelvin Gastelum <strong><em>beat</em></strong> Robert 'The Reaper' Whittaker <span style="color:#000080;"><strong>by TKO </strong></span><span style="color:#000080;"><strong><em>due to strikes</em></strong></span> in 2:50 of Round 2 </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="qa4vrL5.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/qa4vrL5.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="jd3Ws5b.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/jd3Ws5b.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="GzabZy3.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/GzabZy3.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <span style="font-family:Verdana;"><strong>Women’s Flyweight Champion:</strong></span> Valentina Shevchenko <strong>©</strong> <em>(19-3)</em> <span style="color:#A0522D;"><strong>vs.</strong></span> Joanne Calderwood <em>(14-4)</em> <em>for the UFC Women’s Flyweight Championship</em></p><p> </p><p> <span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';">There was a real buzz in the air for this one, and not just because it was our first title fight of the evening. Valentina Shevchenko had a reputation, a well earned reputation, for handing out some of the most brutal and devastating finishes in the sport, and the fans were excited the prospect of another one tonight as Shevchenko defend her title against Joanne Calderwood.</span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> Calderwood, like every challenger to Shevchenko, came in as the underdog, but that didn’t mean she wasn’t a dangerous challenger. Calderwood had her own extensive background in Muay Thai, and if anyone had the potential to provide Shevchenko with a challenge when it came devastating striking it was Joanne Calderwood.</span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> After a series of tentative strikes from both women to open up the round, Calderwood landed the first significant blow of the right, a hard kick to the body of Shevchenko. This didn’t stop Shevchenko from coming forward and, as the round developed, both women managed to land a few strikes on the other, and avoid most of what came back in return, and it seemed like neither fighter was able to put their stamp of authority on this contest. </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> That changed in the final minute of the first round when Shevchenko caught Calderwood with a terrific right cross that dropped the challenger. Shevchenko pounced on her chance to finish the fight and she began raining down punches on Calderwood, but the challenger managed to keep moving around and squirming just enough to avoid the worst of it and see out the round.</span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> Despite how the first round ended, Calderwood came out for the second in a confident mood, and even suffering a gash under her eye, from one of the first punches of the round, did little to deter the Scotswoman. Perhaps because of that, Shevchenko went for a big head kick in what may have been an attempt to replicate her famous highlight reel knockout of Jessica Eye, but Calderwood avoided the blow. A few moments later, though, Calderwood couldn’t avoid a wicked left uppercut and the challenger dropped to the mat unconscious, and the fans roared their approval as Valentina Shevchenko delivered yet another highlight reel finish.</span></p><p> </p><p> <span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><em>Result:</em></span></strong></span></span> Valentina 'The Bullet' Shevchenko <strong><em>beat</em></strong> Joanne 'JoJo' Calderwood <span style="color:#000080;"><strong>by knockout </strong></span><span style="color:#000080;"><strong><em>(punch)</em></strong></span> in 2:07 of Round 2 <em>to retain the UFC Women’s Flyweight Championship</em></p><p> </p><p> <img alt="z7LaBiO.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/z7LaBiO.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="jd3Ws5b.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/jd3Ws5b.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="E5dsFqx.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/E5dsFqx.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <span style="font-family:Verdana;"><strong>UFC Welterweight Champion:</strong></span> Kamaru Usman <strong>©</strong> <em>(16-1)</em> <span style="color:#A0522D;"><strong>vs.</strong></span> Jorge Masvidal <em>(35-13)</em> <em>for the UFC Welterweight Championship</em></p><p> </p><p> <span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';">It was now time for the big one, the main event of the evening, as Kamaru Usman defended his welterweight title against the undisputed top contender, Jorge Masvidal. </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> The first round was fine but not particularly exciting, with Masvidal seemingly set on working over the body of Usman, perhaps to try and tire him out. There was a period of about a minute when Usman had Masvidal pressed up against the cage, Masvidal having managed to partially block a takedown attempt. Later on, Masvidal missed a kick and slipped, but Usman didn’t have time to do much beyond getting pulled into the guard when he tried to capitalise on Masvidal’s slip.</span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> In the second round, Masvidal, who appeared to be taking some heavy breaths, pushed forward, but he couldn’t seem to really hit the mark with a lot of his strikes. Usman, wary of getting tagged, stayed out of the range of Masvidal as best he could before rushing in and clinching with Masvidal and pressing him back up against the cage. The two stayed there for almost the entirety of the rest of the round, engaged in some dirty boxing but doing little else. They were eventually forced to break by the referee, and there was just enough time left in the round for Masvidal to catch Usman with a decent right hook.</span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> Immediately upon the third round starting, Usman grappled with Masvidal and once more had him backed up and pressed up against the cage. For the next two minutes, Usman periodically peppered Masvidal with the occasional punch while making a concerted effort to smother Masvidal against the cage and wear him out. After they were separated, it was now very noticeable that Masvidal was tiring and, while he managed to free himself after once more momentarily being pressed against the cage, he couldn’t stop another takedown, this time with Usman using underhooks to set up a trip that left Masvidal on his back and Usman in side-control. Usman didn’t have time to do anything, but he had stamped his authority on the round and was seemingly now in prime position to take control of the fight.</span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> Masvidal opened up the fourth round with a punch that missed the mark, allowing Usman to shoot in and take hold of him, Usman then belly-to-belly suplexing Masvidal to the ground, a move which got a the first big cheer of the fight, and saw Usman end up in side-control. Usman went through a series of submissions but the challenger was able to defend against them and the action eventually slowed enough for the referee to order a stand-up. After taking a few moments to breathe heavily, Usman shot in hard for another takedown, which he got; Usman tried to sit back to go for a leglock, but Masvidal defended against Usman efforts and the champion had to settle for smothering the challenger on the ground for the rest of the round.</span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> Heading into the fifth and final round, the outcome of this title fight seemed to be in the balance; it looked like both fighters had won two rounds apiece. Yet momentum can be crucial, and Usman was heading into the fifth round with plenty of it.</span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> The early exchanges of the fifth round told the story of just how tired Masvidal was as he couldn’t connect with most of his punches, and worse, Usman caught the leg of Masvidal off a body kick and effortlessly took him down to the mat. Masvidal was able to pull guard but that was all he could do, not that he had lot to defend against as Usman was content to smother Masvidal and do what seemed like the bare minimum to avoid from being stood up. With a minute left, though, the fight was stood up, but it didn’t take long for Usman to once more have Masvidal pressed up against the cage, where they stayed, exchanging short punches, for the remainder of the round.</span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> There wasn’t a lot of cheering, at least loud cheering, upon the conclusion of the fight, with it not being the most exciting of affairs. Indeed, the most exciting thing about the fight was the drama over the outcome, as, while the first four rounds seemed to be evenly split, the judging tonight meant that the outcome of the fight was by no means a sure thing.</span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Palatino Linotype';"> Even the judging itself had more drama than the fight, as only one judge scored it 48-47, which was consensus score; the other two scored it 49-46, which was somewhat surprising. However, all three judges were in agreement that the winner was Kamaru Usman, who would leave UFC 251 as still the UFC Welterweight Champion.</span></p><p> </p><p> <span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><em>Result:</em></span></strong></span></span> 'The Nigerian Nightmare' Kamaru Usman <strong><em>beat</em></strong> Jorge 'GameBred' Masvidal <span style="color:#000080;"><strong>by unanimous decision </strong></span><span style="color:#000080;"><strong><em>(49-46, 48-47 and 49-46)</em></strong></span> <em>to retain the UFC Welterweight Championship</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Post-Fight Bonuses</span></strong> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Fight of the Night:</strong> Yana Kunitskaya <span style="color:#A0522D;"><strong>vs.</strong></span> Nicco Montaño</p><p> <strong>Performance of the Night:</strong> Kamaru Usman</p><p> <strong>Knockout of the Night:</strong> Valentina Shevchenko</p><p> <strong>Submission of the Night:</strong> Fabricio Werdum</p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Predictions</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> <strong>CageRage :</strong> (8/15)</p><p> <strong>CageRage (Overall):</strong> (72/133)</p></div><p></p><p></p>

  19. UFC Fight Night 175: Błachowicz vs. Teixeira UFC Fight Night 175: Błachowicz vs. Teixeira Date: Saturday of Week 3 of June 2020 Location: South Carolina Attendance: 2,629 Gate: $399,608 Critical Rating: 68% Commercial Rating: 72% Commentary Team: Jon Anik, Dan Hardy and Brendan Fitzgerald Preliminary Card Lightweight: Damir Hadzovic (13-6) vs. Teemu Packalan (8-3) The preliminary action got off to a great start in this hard fought fight, with Hadzovic using his striking and Packalen trying to neutralize that striking with his grappling game. Packalen was somewhat successful with the grappling game in the first round, but his best grappling success came in the second round when hetripped Hadzovic up, got him seated against the cage, and used positioning to apply a painful but effective guillotine choke to get the tap. Packalan’s post-fight interview didn’t go to waste, as he called for a fight with Jared Gordon. Result: Teemu 'Pacu' Packalen beat 'The Bosniam Bomber' Damir Hadzovic by submission due to a guillotine choke in 1:31 of Round 2 Welterweight: Jessin Ayari (16-5) vs. Alvaro Herrera (9-6) A decent fight, this one came to an end just past the three minute mark when a right hand from Ayari had Herrera backing up and covering up. Ayari blitzed Herrera with several big shots, Herrera offering little defence, but it wasn’t until Ayari delivered an uppercut that broke the guard of Herrera and left him slumped against the cage and wobbling that Herb Dean finally stepped in to stop the fight. Ayari popped the fans with his post-fight interview, declaring his intention to party at a nearby club and that everyone was invited. Result: Jessin 'Abacus' Ayari beat Alvaro 'El Chango' Herrera by TKO due to strikes in 3:14 of Round 1 Lightweight: Austin Hubbard (11-4) vs. Rodrigo Vargas (11-4) For the first two rounds this fight was all Hubbard as he used forward pressure and lots of head movement to keep Vargas off-base and unable to deal with his relentless attack. But that kind of effort expends a lot of energy, and, by the third round, Hubbard had slowed down and couldn’t stop Vargas from taking him down. After some resistance, Vargas was able to flatten Hubbard out and sink in a rear naked choke to get the submission. Vargas wasn’t the best of speakers in his post-fight interview, but at least he looked good while standing there. Result: Rodrigo 'Kazula' Vargas beat Austin 'Thud' Hubbard by submission due to a rear naked choke in 3:47 of Round 3 Welterweight: Emil Meek (9-5, 1NC) vs. Abubakar Nurmagomedov (15-3-1) A highly competitive first round was almost all stand-up, both fighters landing, but with Meek also having some success in landing leg kicks, leg kicks that ended up causing Nurmagomedov to limp; Meel then ended the round with a big takedown. The second round was very similar, with the only real difference being that Nurmagomedov’s limp was becoming a lot more pronounced. Things turned around for Nurmagomedov in the third round as he was able take advantage of a tiring Meek and lift him up and slam him to the ground within thirty seconds of the round starting. Able to keep Nurmagomedov in a butterfly guard, Meek tried to scramble free, which only resulted in Nurmagomedov taking side-control. Again, Meek tried to scramble free but again Meek ended up making things worse for himself as he ended up giving up his back. Nurmagomedov began working for a rear naked choke and, after some spirited resistance, got the hold applied and Meek had no choice but to tap out. Result: Abubakar Nurmagomedov beat Emil 'Valhalla' Meek by submission due to a rear naked choke in 4:46 of Round 3 Bantamweight: Douglas Sliva de Andrade (26-3, 1NC) vs. Eddie Wineland (24-13, 1) Eddie Wineland put in a great showing here, using counterpunches to great effect throughout the fight. It seemed like whatever Silva de Andrade threw, Wineland was able to avoid it and respond with a hard shot of his own, and that was really the story of the fight, with Silva de Andrade even getting cut under his eye. Things didn’t change much for Silva de Andrade in the third round, and it came to an end, there was no doubt in anyone’s mind what the judges’ decision would be Showing great confidence in himself, Wineland used his post-fight interview to call for a fight with Ricky Simon. Result: Eddie Wineland beat 'D'Silva' Douglas Silva de Andrade by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27 and 30-27) Flyweight: David Dvorak (18-3) vs. Jenel Lausa (7-4) This was a decent fight, although nothing outstanding. Lausa mainly outworked Dvorak, who was very tired by the third round, and, when the fight hit the ground, an ill-timed scramble left Dvorak open for a kneebar that got a swift tap. Result: Jenel 'The Demolition Man' Lausa beat 'Killa Khroust' David Dvorak by submission due to a kneebar in 3:42 of Round 3 Women’s Flyweight: Montana De La Rosa (11-5) vs. Antonina Shevchenko (8-1) Shevchenko came out for the first round a confident fighter and left it a not-so confident fighter, because de la Rosa pretty much walked right through her, taking her down early, easily transitioning into the mount, and then locking on an armbar for the submission victory. De La Rosa didn’t shine as much on the mic as she did during the fight, but it can’t be denied that she’s very photogenic. Result: Montana de la Rosa beat Antonina 'The Panther' Shevchenko by submission due to an armbar in 2:14 of Round 1 Light Heavyweight: Aleksander Rakic (12-2) vs. Gian Villante (17-11) Villante had a significant weight advantage in this fight, but it did him absolutely no good at all because Rakic hit a right uppercut almost right away that had Villante wobbling and then falling to the ground. Some massive right hands soon followed and the referee jumped in to call the fight off after just 34 seconds. Result: Aleksandar Rakic beat Gian Villante by TKO due to strikes in 0:34 of Round 1 Heavyweight: Maurice Green (8-4) vs. Rodrigo Nascimento (7-0) This was another fight that failed to get out of the first round, with Nascimento taking Greene down right away, avoiding a guillotine attempt, and then breaking the guard of Greene and quickly going for a toe hold and getting the submission. Nascimento came across very well in his post-fight interview, where he said that he was thrilled to have won his UFC debut. Result: Rodrigo 'Ze Colmeia' Nascimento beat Maurice 'The Crochet Boss' Greene by submission due to a toe hold in 2:04 of Round 1 Main Card Light Heavyweight: Ed Herman (24-14, 1NC) vs. Antônio Rogério Nogueira (23-9) This fight was fine, although it didn’t necessarily get the main card off to the most exciting of starts. It featured a mix of striking and grappling, and was pretty even, so it had that going for it. In fact, the fight was so even that we had the very rare majority draw verdict, with Nogueira slipping by with the win. Result: Antonio 'Minotoro' Rogerio Nogueira beat Ed 'Short Fuse' Herman by majority decision (29-28, 29-28 and 28-28) Lightweight: Davi Ramos (10-3) vs. Francisco Trinaldo (25-7) The first round was rather dull; Ramos quickly pulled guard on Massaranduba, and they stayed like that for almost the entire round, with very little happening. Things picked up a little in the second round; Ramos took the fight to the ground again, but there was more action on the ground this time, and Ramos began delivering more in the way of punishment. Massaranduba opened up the third round with a high kick that rocked Ramos, but he couldn’t follow up on it properly and the fight went back to the ground, where it stayed for most of the duration, and some decent grappling ensued. Trinaldo took the victory, though it was only by split decision, and Trinaldo made it very clear in his post-fight interview that he felt he should have had a unanimous decision victory. Result: Francisco 'Massaranduba' Trinaldo beat Davi 'Tasmanian Devil' Ramos by split decision (29-28, 29-28 and 28-29) Lightweight: Ovince St. Preux (24-12) vs. Jiri Prochzaka (23-3-1) St. Preux came into the fight with a noticeable weight advantage, looking quite a bit bigger than Prochazka, although it didn’t seem to play major part in the contest, except, perhaps, in forcing St. Preux to slow the pace down in the second round. And it was in the second round that St. Preux landed the first significant strike of power, dropping Prochazka with an uppercut. Yet it didn’t keep Prozchaka down for long, and when St. Preux pounced to take advantage, Prozchaka managed to sweep St. Preux and get him pressed up against the cage. In the third round, Prochazka went back to smothering St. Preux against the cagt, but, whilst greatly effective in neutralizing St. Preux, it didn’t do much damage. And, when the referee ordered a separation due to inactivity, it was very clear that Prochazka was now very tired. As the round wound down, St. Preux acknowledged some instructions from his corner and went for the kill, backing Prochazka up against the cage and laying him into him some nasty shots; despite looking tired himself, St. Preux managed to keep landing shots until Herb Dean had finally decided that he’d seen enough and he stepped in to stop the fight. St. Preux knew who he wanted for his next fight when asked, because he named Volkan Oezdemir as the person he’d like to face next. Result: Ovince St. Preux beat Jiri 'Denisa' Prochazka by TKO due to strikes in 4:53 of Round 3 Bantamweight: John Dodson (21-11) vs. Cory Sandhagen (12-1) Sandhagen took Dodson down early in the first round, and so began a sequence that would repeated itself three times, where Dodson managed to pull the both of them back to the cage, allowing Dodson to walk his back to his feet, but unable to escape Sandhagen’s grip, with Sandhagen then taking Dodson back down. Sandhagen did manage to get the back of Dodson late in the round, but Dodson defend Sandhagen’s attempts at a rear naked choke. In the second round, Dodson took over control of the fight and kept it standing up. He landed a number of great looking strikes that both hurt Sandhagen and kept him at bay, until late in the round when Sandhagen finally got a hold of Dosdon, but he was unable to do anything before the round ended. The third round followed a similar pattern, albeit with Sandhagen not attempting to get a hold of Dodson, possibly content to stay with his striking. If that was indeed Sandhagen’s strategy, it didn’t work because Dodson controlled the striking, taking both the round and the fight when the scores were announced. Result: John 'The Magician' Dodson beat Cory Sandhagen by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28 and 29-28) Light Heavyweight: Jan Błachowicz (26-8) vs. Glover Teixeira (30-7) The main event of the evening was a worthy capper to a night of great action, with both fighters mixing up punches, leg kicks and other kick variations. It looked like neither fighter would stamp their authority on the first round, thus leaving it up in the air when it came to the judges, but Blachowicz delivered a quick head kick near the end that had Teixeira backing off and looking dazed, and, while Teixeira avoided the spinning back fist that followed, it was enough to edge Blachowicz ahead on the scorecards. But it ended up not mattering how the first round was scored because, early in the second round, Teixeira went for a big takedown, and got it, but Teixeira had left his neck wide open in the process and Blachowicz wrapped his arms around it to secure a very tight guillotine choke; Teixeira struggled to resist before hurriedly tapping out and Jan Blachowicz had won the Fight Night main event. Jan Blachowicz took his moment in the spotlight to demand a fight with Dominick Reyes. Result: Jan Blachowicz beat Glover Teixeira by submission due to a guillotine choke in 1:29 of Round 2 Post-Fight Bonuses Fight of the Night: Emil Meek vs. Abubakar Nurmagomedov Performance of the Night: Aleksander Rakic Knockout of the Night: Ovince St. Preux Submission of the Night: Jan Blachowicz Predictions CageRage : (8/14) CageRage (Overall): (64/118) CageRage’s success means his overall winning percentage has gone from just under 54% to just over 54%.
  20. Face Cuts As requested, here is a link to download the face cuts that I've made for my dynasty. It is possible that I've accidentally bundled in a few that I didn't make, but, at the very least, the vast majority are mine. There are 334 of them in the upload. http://www.mediafire.com/file/hgvlfvptq9oh6ne/Face+Cuts.rar/file
  21. Bellator results; other news Saturday of Week 2 of June 2020 Wednesday of Week 3 of June 2020 Yes, I made them myself. I made four more for this entry, and the Michael Chandler one is actually a slightly tweaked version of my original remake. I can bundle together the face cuts I’ve done; at last count, there’s just over 250. I’m regularly adding new ones as the dynasty rolls on, so I can make periodic updates of the new face cuts I’ve made. What I’ll try to do tomorrow is bundle together the non-spoiler ones; I invariably make a new cut for new signings. And I can upload them as a RAR file and post a link, and you and anyone else who wants them can download them.
