  1. Most workers are able to develop a high degree of proficiency with Basics because they're, you know, the Basics. The Potential for a wrestler isn't just a flat limit applied to all stats across the board, it's impact varies depending on their destiny roll and the type of skills that are being developed.

     

    Basics are not all that important for getting a high match rating, they're just important for avoiding absolutely abysmal ratings. For instance, someone with 100 Basics but 5 in the more important In-ring stats, they'll never score higher than, probably, an E+ without someone to carry them through the match. At the very least, though, they won't drag down a match against a good wrestler too badly.

Anything minor is mostly for popping crowds.</p>

One route that will almost always work is to run as many shows as possible early on. The only time this may not work is with a garbage Industry, however, since your Pop gains will be wretched. If you want to go this route fairly realistically, 4 shows a month for 4-5 month will make you pretty high on income the second half of your first year without too much of a debt. After your monthly sponsorship incomes are very solid you can switch to monthly shows and make your debt back over the next half of the year. This also gives your UC a lot of ring-experience to develop faster.</p><p> </p><p> If you have a really good Industry, you could go the even more realistic route of monthly shows--Your Pop will still climb moderately fast and you'll become profitable in a more "natural" progression curve. </p><p> </p><p> The thing to remember is that you need to minimize costs as much as possible. 6 in-ring workers and a ref at sub-300 PPA deals will keep you from hemorrhaging money. It may be worth investing in one decent worker who can train up your UC in dark matches during this time, even if he costs 400 a show. Remember that at this level your sponsorship is the critical income component to become profitable. Track its progress in your finances every month so you can understand when you'll be safe to switch strategy. You'll also have about 18 months to get your finances into the black AS LONG AS your Org debuts January 2016. It's okay if it takes you all 18 months in a bad industry to get out of debt. </p><p> </p><p> Mathematically speaking, the more shows you run in the beginning the more efficient you can complete the challenge. Worst case scenario (F- Econ and Industry) means running 30 shows the first month and coasting after that, for instance.</p>
  6. Lover is both the luckiest (loads of pop) and unluckiest (consistently getting into scandals) person in the Cornellverse.

     

    I'm not at my computer right now. What is Champagne's personality in this game? I figure either an extreme negative somewhere in there or when a worker's pop rises, so too does his visibility and vulnerability to scandals (Champagne being the most over worker in the game).

  7. I feel like the "habit" rolls (Steroids, smoking, ect.) should all include some kind of stat modifier as well. For instance, who starts doing steroids and doesn't get stronger/bigger? Painkillers could increase toughness. Smoking could increase... Charisma? Cool Gimmick? Religion maybe increases consistency? Drugs increases hardcore? Drinking... Um, brawling maybe? Or just give a negative to something, eh.
  8. What do you guys think of doing RTG but not starting a new company, but starting with a small or local company (GSW, IPW, MAW, WEXXV, etc)? In my estimation it might make it a bit more realistic (and harder to ramp up stats) than starting a new company and running weekly shows for a while?

     

    It's absolutely fine. It's of course not necessarily the pure RTG experience, but it's a good approximation--You could even go into the editor and edit down some of the stats for the starting company if you wanted to bring the difficulty more in line.

     

    It does give you some interesting angles for your bio though. How does a fresh-faced 18 year old get a booking job at MAW? Are you Ripchords nephew?

    Turns out having no leadership penalizes you in a way far more severe than expected, but I think it simulates how a young wrestling mind with no experience would be at running the behind the scenes of a wrestling company.

    That wrestling industry will be a challenge, but on the bright side it is rising.

    I am pretty excited for this product as I think it captures the kind of wrestling I want to see. 100% on intensity and danger might be a risk considering my safety score is a zero.

     

    Silver Shark is my owner, and God bless him. Not only is he working for free, but he also gave me cake walk owner goals. Only downside is that he is in decline.

    Holy crap your guy is a murderer in the ring. How do you expect to wrestle when you injure everyone you get in the ring with?

  10. Just finished 2023 and I rolled "healing hands" which brought me back to 100% physical condition. I haven't had any major injuries at all in the 7 years I've been wrestling, so it was all in the 95%+ from just general wear and tear.

     

    My user character also ranked #326 in the Power 500.

     

    He's A Pop in your home region right? That's hilarious that he's so over but everyone still regards him a a regional level talent at best. In the real world I'd imagine he'd get a lot of heat online and from critics for being a poor in-ring worker.

  11. Playing with the newer updates, finances are absolutely brutal. Economy and Industry are both middling right now in New England (USA), but at minimal pop I'm pulling in less than a couple hundred bucks from sponsorship a month. I think I'm just going to keep hammering out shows and see if I can get my pop up enough to make a difference income-wise. If not, I'm just going to edit in a "mysterious lender" loan mid-way through 2017.

     

    I suppose this is more realistic though. I mean, how successful will a reputationless organization do without any financial backing on start-up? Not very.

  12. I created a character with 0 in every in-ring category, but 75s in all entertainment categories, SQ, colour, athleticism, and stamina. There's a backstory, but I've typed it and lost it twice, so maybe another time.

     

    Anyway, I'll work the post shows until I deserve to be in the pre-show, etc. He never went through training, so he's never been in the ring. On-the-job training, basically.

     

    In Mexico. I've never played in Mexico, or with a lucha style, at all.

     

    Using the CV97 mod. I've never played a CV game outside of the demo.

     

    I'm excited for the challenge.

    Well, it should be super easy to get over but I have a feeling you're going to have a hard time getting a A* match in anything BUT a very pop heavy org, if that's what you're going for.

  13. Never done this before, but I'm deep into my first year with my character. I don't really know the right ways to be super game-y about running companies this small but I'm learning. Can't wait to finish my first year and roll the dice.

     

    You don't even have to be super "gamey" to run these games tbh. You just have to be a little miserly and financially savy--Don't hire workers for more than bare-minimum, don't bring on 20 workers, don't pay hand out bonuses or financial perks in contracts, and keep a few workers off each card. Basically, act like that scumbag local booker/owner everyone hears about for the first year or two until you build your popularity.

     

    The only gamey thing I'd recommend is to start with a favourable product for sponsorship, and to set-up the org with a very cheap owner. Otherwise the game is fairly true to real life.

  14. Started last night as Eggs "The Aviator" McKenzie, a high-flyer with some all-around skill and the ability to sell the pants off another wrestler's butt. I'll post a screen cap when I get home from work, but here's the big kicker--Economy started at F+ Rising. I'm bleeding money bad, but hopefully if I can get through the first year this economy will guarantee smooth sailing later on.
  15. I had to set him to be loyal to MAW so that nobody could steal him.

     

    At least he literally doubled his pop in the US(Edited National Pride TV )to air my shows) after I gave him multiple wins against Texas Pete,who fell from 50 to 30 pop and whom I fired immediately after because everyone that I put to job to him(So that Gauge could get even more over by defeating him,of course) kept complaining he was always drunk.

     

     

    Yes,I did it all because I hate him(Pete),not for the sake of the save itself.
