  1. Rebranding for profit

BriCo takes TCW, outs the CEO and Booker and rebrand the entire company. Why? To sell TOYS of course! The workers in TCW are suddenly forced to adopt over the top gimmicks based on BriCo's various toy lines. Wolf Hawkins the werewolf and Andrews the hunter out to stop him, The New Wave now back together as an 'elite fighting force' and their custom made terrorist foes with hordes of masked goons to defeat, etc. It's less a wrestling organization and more all the worst aspects of old 80's cartoons brought to life once more.

  2. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="DeBosco" data-cite="DeBosco" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="48528" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I tried to have a go at it as well<p> <strong>Dale Young</strong>:</p><p> <img alt="Dale-Young-alt.jpg" data-src="https://i.ibb.co/wg0YZPN/Dale-Young-alt.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> see now someone needs to make a diary with this guy in that whenever we see him the eye patch has switched eyes and he's insistent that it's always been on *THIS* eye.</p>
  3. Personally I adore the 'talk to worker' option in 2020. In my startup company I've managed to talk several Aussie workers and others around the globe into giving the USA a chance. I'm not always successful in it, but it's a great touch. 10/10 for this feature. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />
  4. I've played several long games and have random gen workers appear right away and in great numbers as it suits my play style and have noticed a pattern to the random Gens in just about all saves and they tend to come in specific flavors:

    - The Entertainment Machine - worker with Ent skills in the 80s -90s but average to poor skills everywhere else

    - The Egomaniac - Worker with amazing stats that can come in and contribute right away but is a locker room poison.

    - The Specialist - worker with highish skill in one top row area and average to poor everything else

    - The Wrestler - worker with high to amazing performance skills with either average to no star power, no Ent. skills, or little to no stamina/saftey.

    - The Brute - Worker with Menace out the whazoo but average to poor everything else.

    - The Bland - Worker with literally NOTHING going for them that will sit unemployed forever.

Now, not ALL random gens fit into these categories, but a lot, A LOT, of them can and do. sometimes once in a blue moon you WILL get a rare gem of a worker like a worker with amazing stats but not a backstage cancer, but I'd say a good 85-90% of the time the random gens will fall into a category.

  6. WARNING! Long post ahead with pictures!!

I Fully and 100% blame Historian and his series The Climb for the following. It's all his fault. :-p

So After reading The Climb and getting kinda bored with being one of the big players in the USA in the CVerse. I thought that perhaps I could do something similar to The Climb.

Enter Great Lakes Pro Wrestling. A Preformance equals Popularity company. I set the world up to my liking, most notably turning random generated workers to extremely high and to start right away.

GLPW started a local and we are nearly Regional as of Feb of 2020. We are finaincialy secure and have been making good money regularly now. We come in first in all three of our regional battles. Larry Vessey HATED us, but he's out of business now so HA!

No one in our company at the moment is paid over $900. Our backstage rating is 99% and we have no alliances or working agreements. Our shows are the Friday at the end of the month.

Some old reliable names have been with us from the start that I've gotten attached to. Mitico, Riley, Regular Joe, The Silencer, Ray Snow. I'll be sad if and when they get stolen.

There are also quite a few newly generated workers I'm high on:

    new1.png"]new1.png[/url]

Recently picked this guy up, not a lot to him, atm. We'll see how it goes.

    new2.png"]new2.png[/url]

Another Recent Hire. Tiger here will be given a shot with some of our established guys to sink or swim, much like the guy above him.

    new3.png"]new3.png[/url]

Brutus here has gotten lost in the shuffle as of late which is mostly my fault. He's got all the tools to be a major player either for me or someone.

    new4.png"]new4.png[/url]

Not sure about this one. Star Quality is an issue as is his 'meh' top row. He's young though. I may try to work a Legion of Doom/Road Warriors style tag team for him if I can find the right partner.

    new5.png"]new5.png[/url]

A professor Nero regen I switched the picture of. He's got a lot of potential, but that average charisma...

    new6.png"]new6.png[/url]

One of three workers I have with 90+ Menace. That Star Quality will hurt him no doubt, but a useful scary crazy man. In a tag team with Set Whitehead, AKA Mayhem as Mania and Mayhem.

    new7.png"]new7.png[/url]

My Only Giant. Big and scary. Kinda been left aside, but again more my fault. Been thinking perhaps he needs a tag partner. My tag teams are kind thin, atm.

    new6.png"]new8.png[/url]

Backstage troublemaker, but has really good potential to make something of himself so he gets a shot when I normally shy away from backstage roaches like him.

    new9.png"]new9.png[/url]

Mystic X's tag team partner in Mystic Sabre. A solid hand, I don't see him burning the down the house. Still, I could be surprised.

    new10.png"]new10.png[/url]

Love the picture, that Star Quality will hurt him, but a solid enough worker as he's worked decently well with my main eventers. He may need a manager....

    new11.png"]new11.png[/url]

I wish he'd change his wrestling style, but I doubt that's happening soon. Another solid hand that I don't see being the reason for sellouts in the future.

So that's all of my newbies! It's time for the one and only... QUESTIONS TO THE READERS!!

    1) Which of the newbies is the most impressive to you? The least impressive?

    2) I've been tempted several times to join the COTT, but Larry Vessey had always blocked me. Now that he's out of business (HA! HA! HA!) should I join? Why?

    3) what is the highest limit to PPA salary's you would go once you hit Regional? 1000? 1500? I am unsure.

    4) Is it all Historian's fault? Trick question, it is 100% his fault. :D:p

  7. I have to thank you. This diary has inspired me to not only add a Rocky Mountain Wrestling company to my game, but also try my hand at a start up company. Usually I take either USPW or TCW for my games, but not this time. Say hello to GLPW Great Lakes Pro Wrestling. Still a local company at the moment, but hopefully I won't run it into the ground. Three months, in the red three times. blah.
  8. <p>Well, I'm probably going to annoy or anger quite a bit of people here on the forums with this! I can't wait!!! <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/cool.png.f00d2562b2c1d873a09323753efdb041.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

    <strong>Favorites</strong></p><p> </p><p>

1 - USPW - My routine company, Though I usually take it ever so slightly forward out of the 80s, say WWE's Next Generation era or so forth. </p><p> </p><p>

2- TCW - My second choice of company. I enjoy making them perf=pop though I'm not a fan of Kyle Rhodes in the slightest. </p><p> </p><p>

3- CGC - It's a shame how Alex has lost his mind,IMO. I HATED and still dislike NOTBPW a great deal, that made me root for their rivals. A few diaries have really made this company shine.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

    <strong>Least Favorites</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

1 - Any Puroresu company - Mostly for running into certain fans IRL that vocally declare anything NOT Puro is utter and complete garbage. I just really don't see the appeal, I guess. *shrug*</p><p> </p><p>

2 - Garbage Wrestling companies - If I wanted to see someone use weapons I'd watch a Jackie Chan movie. Another style of wrestling that just does not appeal to me. </p><p> </p><p>

3- SOTBPW - I just can't STAND this company. A Majority of their stars are protected from poaching, but have no problems taking yours and they have the money to really make your contract negotiations hit ridiculous salary numbers.</p>

  11. <p>okay, playing as USPW and have several ways to go in the future.</p><p> </p><p>

Nicky is Champ, having regained the title from Money and his goons, the 1%, only to be jumped by Marat with manager Buck thus starting their feud. However I have one Mr. Rocky Golden coming in throwing things open in several different ways: </p><p>

Option 1- Golden comes in as a heel and takes on Champion right after the feud with Marat. Making Golden this smarmy, I'm better because I fought REAL wrestlers while you were coddled, type of worker. Essentially making Golden Champion's rival for the foreseeable future as R.Money, my second choice, is declining. Not declining badly, but still...</p><p>

Option 2 - Golden comes in as a face and he and Champion are clearly NOT friends, but are less then enemies, Champion loses to Marat and thus loses his title and try as he might this is one giant he can't topple. Golden however swoops in and succeeds where Champion fails, making Nicky frustrated and openly hostile to Golden due to envy. Nicky heel turn? (currently figurehead, he may refuse.)</p><p>

Option 3 - Anything else you all may come up with! I want to hear it! :-)</p>

  12. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Eisen-verse" data-cite="Eisen-verse" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41303" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I need a real world song that personifies aggression and anger. One of my faves.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div class="ipsEmbeddedVideo"><div><iframe width="200" height="150" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/PLrxT8Vu978?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="" title="lyrics for you're going down - sick puppies"></iframe></div></div>
  13. <p>So I'm USPW and I've hired away several workers from other companies: Tom Gilmore, Wolf Hawkins, Sean McFly, etc. Plus Marat Khoklov as well. I'd like to run a long term story theme for Nicky Champion about 'that one guy I just can't beat' The one guy that has Champion's number and 99% of the time ends up with the victory much to the frustration of Champion. My question to you all is: Who should it be? There are several contenders for this role for me.</p><p> </p><p>

    1. Gilmore - currently in a storyline with Champion and a heel. Plans are for him to take the title off of Champion(he doesn't really need it anymore, really).</p><p> </p><p>

    2. Wolf Hawkins - currently a face playing a 'loner' type of character and in a storyline with Rich Money. Would take some time to eventually pull the trigger on an outright storyline feud with Champion.</p><p> </p><p>

    3. Khoklov - The current USPW Monster giant and heel with manager Haley Buck. Currently responsible for feuding with the older guys to knock them down a bit popularity wise so the up and comers can feud and win over them(say hello, James Justice!).</p><p> </p><p>

    4. Damien - AKA Hell's Bouncer a Heel managed by Emma Chase. My up and coming unstopable monster currently feuding with Rick Law to raise his popularity. Currently a Midcard act but on the rise. </p><p> </p><p>

There are others of course: Valentine, Roger Cage, Frehley, Brandon Smith, Findlay O'Farraday, Joss Thompson, etc. So I am completely open to whomever takes the spot of Champion's foil, I have no favorites here.</p>

  14. Speaking of WCW.

(Buckle up, this is going to be a long one).

My NECW 0/0/0 game is going quite well. Well enough that I decided to start a new game because that's how I am. For reasons I won't go into I've watched a fair degree of 2000's WCW over the past year and I asked myself 'what could they even have done with this mess'

So I decided to find out. I saw that there is a Jan 2000 historical mod in the 2013 mod archives so I dug that out and converted it. The first thing I notice is that in this mod The Radicalz are still in WCW and Bret Hart is not-retired. This will not do. So before I started the game I moved all the Radicalz to the WWF and retired Bret Hart to really get that 'this is the point of no return' feel WCW had in Jan 2000.

I fire up the game and it is every bit as insane as I thought it would be.

All 7 of the 'true' active main eventers have pops ranging from 70-80, which isn't nearly good enough for a National company. Of the 7, 6 of them are disciplinary headaches, 5 are heels, 2 are faces. I decide to even things out by turning Sid Vicious face. So 3 and 3. This is good. Except Lex Luger wrestled wasted forcing me to send him to rehab for 8 months. Then Hall wrestled drunk, which I absolutely saw coming; so to rehab he goes for the remainder of his contract. So now we're down to 3 faces and 2 heels. And then I remember that Sting, Hogan and Goldberg are on the shelf. 3 more main event faces, which will create a massive inequity when they return. I have Piper and Savage in the short turn, whom I was loathe to use because they're occasional wrestlers. But their contracts are up in two months.

So for the first month I desperately try to keep the show ratings high, which means no room for experimentation because with things the way they are my best workers are just barely capable of maintaining two 77 rated storylines at a time.

Oh, did I mention that in this mod the 12 workers I've mentioned have a combined salary of 1.3 Million Dollars a month. I can't even release them because it would be financially crippling. 12 workers, 1.3 million dollars and as of right now only 5 of them are active. I wound up sending Sid on vacation because he wouldn't stop getting Morale dings on account of being isolated in the locker room and Nash has gotten suspended for beating up Brad Armstrong. Basically the financial future of this company it tethered to how long these contracts are around my neck. I can get rid of Piper and Savage in 2 months, Hall in 6, but I'm stuck with the rest for the next 2-3 years depending.

Luckily, I still made a profit my 1st month.

Unluckily I also dropped to Cult after losing the national battle to the WWE.

And all of my TV contracts are up in 2 months. And Turner Broadcasting/TNT/TBS won't negotiate with me, forcing me to wonder if I'll still be able to turn a profit once that happens, because if I can't there's not much I can do about it. This is really the only real problem. You can ride out everything else, just not losing money.

At which point it's operation 'drive the bad contracts into quitting'. I'm already there with Nash. Just waiting for him to get into another fight and that's 150k/mo in my pocket.

Creatively much like the actual WCW of the time I'm going with the youth movement. Except with good youths. I took a necessary risk and spent 1M on a developmental territory and signed all your usual indie darlings of 2000 suspects to it. I'm bringing in more road agents and higher character workers to try the mitigate the damage my overpaid idiots are doing backstage. My first creative goal is to push Rey Mysterio Jr. to the world title. I'm also gearing up Booker T, Juventud, and Steven Regal to a point where they can carry the brand once I start kicking the old money to the curb.

This is where being Cult is useful. The pressure of gaining pop is lessened so I can experiment and rebuild. If I lose some pop, I'll regain it once the company's turnover plans come to fruition. In that vein I'll be transferring Thunder to 'B' show status once I switch stations, since I really don't want 2 opportunities to lose pop per week.

But this is a 2 year plan and I'm on month 2. Here's to hoping all these ridiculous contracts don't kill me. Suggestions welcome.

I love hearing about things like this. Keep at it and keep us informed! :-)

  15. <p>okay so here's the setup: </p><p> </p><p>

-playing as wCw in 2001 (wCw lives mod), made it performance over pop. </p><p> </p><p>

-we hit national, this means we WILL eventually be in competition with WWF/WWE. We currently do NOT have the star power to beat them.</p><p> </p><p>

-Before the national battle can truly kick off. Steve Austin is caught with prostitutes and fired by WWF/WWE. This ALSO sends WWF/WWE to cult as they were somehow routinely putting on sub par events/shows. </p><p> </p><p>

-Austin is 'toxic' atm, naturally. HOWEVER hiring him would put me ahead of WWF/WWE in the national battles. Though I am concerned about the hit he'll saddle me with if I DO hire him. </p><p> </p><p>

    I have two options here: </p><p> </p><p>

1)do not hire Austin and eat the eventual drop to cult while building up 'the new wCw'. </p><p> </p><p>

    2) Hire Austin and eat the hit for him being 'toxic', putting me on the winning side of things in the national battle. </p><p> </p><p>

    multiple thoughts and opinions welcome!</p>
