  1. You know, bearing in mind people like to claim that wins and losses don't matter, and it is all in the booking, a lot of people seem overly obsessed with the results.

Here's the thing - the Rumble is the longest match of the year, and is always packed with surprise returns, innovative spots, comedy moments, debuts, intriguing feud setups and more, and this year's had all of those things.

The match went on for an hour, the longest match there will be this year. Why is the focus all on the final three seconds?

I know that might sound like a daft question and I didn't like the finish either - I'm not in the slightest bit enthralled about the match that will be the end result of this at Mania, but I thought the actual Rumble match itself was entertaining throughout.

What I don't understand is why that doesn't seem to matter to the majority. Why is who wins more important than how much you were entertained for the longest match you'll see until next year's Rumble? What did you watch it for, exactly?

People don't want to see Cena headlining Wrestlemania. It's like he has X-Pac heat.

  2. wich is not much of a suprise, rock is rusty as hell and cena just cant carry a lesser wrestler then him. punk on the other hand can carrry a lot of people to a great match, or at least a decent one.

havnt watched the rumble, but what i've read the overall opinion about the RR is it was pretty bad: lackluster, cena winning, rocky winning, rumble not the main event and the matches wernt all that good either.

IIRC, they changed it the night of the Royal Rumble.

    I don't get it either.

  3. Here's several tweets I posted, just to see how pissed off I am at the shit WWE gave us for the Royal Rumble

(Twitter name is @Psycho_Sam_BBW) (WARNING: May not be suitable for work)

Fun fact: The Godfather is second in Trending. WWE, this is saying something!

WWE embraces the hate. That's all I can think of why the show was crap.

Methinks Cena will win. Mealsothinks that CM Punk vs. The Rock won't happen due to a riot. #RoyalRumble

This or WCW booked by Vince Russo? #RoyalRumble

    Here's a retweet as well.

Bo Dallas has outlasted The Godfather. Attitude Era marks on Youtube have invested in razor blades.

  5. I realize it was a dig and that Vince Russo is synonymous with bad wrestling booking, but the idea that "WWE is booking like Vince Russo, therefore they are slowly losing fans" is pretty amusing, considering his time actually booking WWF saw either the greatest or second greatest increase in business of all time.

Remember, Russo's ideas had to go through McMahon first.

That's not really true. PPV buys have been up, and TNA's TV ratings have dropped by a much higher percentage than Raw's over the past year.

    True.

It's a taped show. It's not like this is news in 2013. Yes, they reported it early, but just to officially drum up interest (which is the same thing announced title change reports do when they show up in dirt-sheets).

I know it is a taped show, which is why spoilers got out.

Smackdown ratings are actually up this year. It's not "backfiring massively" in any tangible way. Yes, they aren't kayfabing that the show happens on Friday as hard as they used to, but word of this stuff always leaks- now they're just doing it themselves.

Sadly, I have to agree with you. (I only watch a few matches of Smackdown). The ratings have improved quite a bit. It's just that, in my opinion, it spoils any title changes, and thus the ratings would go down a bit.

Hell, Rio vs. Show will be better than Sheamus vs. Show, so I can see why.

Actually ROH is just a shell of their former self financially and quality wise. No one is flocking to ROH in fact I would bet money that they are losing fans on live gates as well as their iPPV's.

Again, I need to agree. Their main stars (The Founding Fathers,) are in the 'Big Two', and their stars, such as Roderick Strong and Kevin Steen, might go to other companies. They may have a future, unfortunately, it may not be the brightest future.

TNA just had their highest rating since August and their numbers have declined the entire year dropping below 1.0 several different times.

Show me where these fans that are "leaving the WWE and going to ROH and TNA" are at because honestly they aren't there.

    On Wrestlecrap.com

TBH, I'm thinking the older, 18-30 fans may be disgrunted with the style of WWE. It's just my opinion though. so I may (read: will) be incorrect.

Rule number one wrestling fans need to remember is that just because we don't like something and just because we're leaving because we enjoy ROH or TNA more doesn't mean the masses do. A lot of us want to see 30-40 minute high octane main events ala the style of TNA and ROH....the masses have shown no interest in liking what we like we just happen to be a very vocal minority.

    Agreed.

Different fans have different expectations. WWE is marketing to younger kids, while TNA and RoH are marketing towards older fans who are becoming disgruntled with WWE's booking.

Its not even close to the same thing. WCW had millions of people watching live as that was happening. Half the wrestling fans in the WWE are not checking wwe.com daily to get their WWE news. Not even close to the same thing.

    I know it's not close. I'm just saying it's a bit similar.

Both of you have a better knowledge than I have, so I'll agree with both of you.

  6. Thanks for spoiling the outcome Sam...

    I do apologize.

Great way quoting a spoiler that revealed the spoiler.

    Trivia question:

How many different wrestlers won the WWE Championship since 2012? 1 (CM Punk)

Now count how many different wrestlers won the World Heavyweight title since 2012. 1 (Daniel Bryan), 1 (Sheamus), 1 (Big Show).

And if WWE starting to be booked by Vince Russo, count how many WWE Championship during 1999.

Then count wrestlers that held WCW World Heavyweight title during Vince Russo time from 1999-2001.

Now I'm starting to wonder if we forgot how to count.

    Yes, yes I have. :p

Point is, with their recent quality, they are slowly losing fans. Plenty people have switched to either TNA or RoH because of the differing types of quality.

I'm not saying it's because the PG era is crap, it's because of the quality of the angles and matches for an international promotion. TNA doesn't fare much better.

    WWE.com is reporting it...

Boy that makes for a lot of excitement.

It's part of their new outlook. They are trying to get people to watch Smackdown so they spoil it themselves almost every time in the last six months or so.

I don't get it. It's like a more failed version of when Tony Schiavone announced that Mankind would win over The Rock. (Which was actually entertaining). It's backfiring on themselves massively. People aren't going to watch Smackdown if they know what's going to happen.

I read (it was a while ago) that they were going to get into putting more emphasis on their shows, working PPV's around the shows instead of the normal work shows around PPV's.

I don't really know about that business decision. To me, buying the PPV is like an additional show for the fans, with bonus content.

And again, I apologize to those who have been spoiled.

  7. Obvious Spoiler: Highlight to see

Breaking News: Del Rio beat Big Show at Smackdown to become World Champion.

    That...is...so...stupid of WWE.

I'm not sure, but IMHO, I believe that the world title should only change hands on a PPV.

Midcard titles are alright occasionaly, but this is a main event title.

Now I'm starting to wonder if WWE is starting to be booked by Vince Russo.

  8. 1. Miz brought up the fact that she's been passed around this year, storyline wise. (I think his exact qoute was like "wow AJ, it's been a banner year huh? Bryan, punk, then Kane, then cena, then big E and now dolph? we know that at midnight someone will be happy with you huh?)

    2. Cena, later that night, also brought up that she's been with like 6 guys (again, storyline wise) since WM, and was clearly pointing out she's "loose"

as to the second comment, Im talking storyline wise. I'm not saying they DID in real life.

but AJ - only got a push as DB's love toy, and since then always romantically involved.

Eve- Took off when she "hooked up" with Ryder and used him to get to Cena

Lita - Took off to the M/E when she was Edge's booty call

Trish - See same with vince

    Ah.

I need to watch more WWE. :o

  9. on a side note, the AJ is a slut angle is just so painfully Vince.

I didn't put it like that. She said that Cena broke her heart, and fell in love with Dolph Ziggler.

Granted, I haven't been watching much of WWE lately.

The only way any Diva gets a push is by sleeping her way to the top (eve, AJ, Trish, lita, a million others.)

While we know Vince sometimes hired those kinds of actors, I'm fairly certain that they wouldn't sleep their way to the top.

  10. I presume he means 13. If the game means so much to you that you're on a wrestling board playing 60min matches, you'll shell out 20$ for it. :D And with the whole attitude theme, Rock vs Austin seems likely.

Got it on release day in Australia. Which totally reminds me, I best get back to my diary. :o
