The build up to his return was just getting a "meh" reaction from the crowd, but when people found out Daniel Bryan wasn't in the Rumble and Batista then won, the reaction turned to hate. If Daniel Bryan wasn't in the picture, Batista would have got an okay reaction (I still don't think it would have been brilliant, but it would have been okay) and as it's been said, he would have pinned Orton clean. Take Daniel Bryan out of the picture and there was no one else who they could have put in that match.

You've also got to remember that people were turning on Orton at that point too, chanting random names during his matches and generally just uninterested with what he was doing. If there was no Daniel Bryan, they would have much rather have had an "okay" reaction to Batista having his 'Mania moment than Orton winning yet again and continuing what was a lacklustre first reign with the newly formed WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

I disagree, even with out bryan if Batista came back just to win the RR they would of complained big time, maybe not as bad as now but still

Fans do NOT want guys coming back and winning titles, take bryan out of the problem the fans would of clinched to someone else.

They could of put

A. Cena

B. Face Shemus

C Heck big show

they could of picked ANYONE (To lose) if they wanted to.

They did a complete 360 and picked Bryan, they could of built up anyone instead WWE proved that.

Bottem line no way Batista was walking out as champ. You assume it was cause of Bryan wrong, it was cause Batista won the Royal Rumble, they may of wanted Bryan instead, but lets say punk never left, they would of wanted punk instead of bryan

bottem line Batista was not walking out champ, no way no how. No matter who he took the spot from (Bryan, punk, enter young guy here) he would of gotten turned on and the same thing would of happen

Batista was HATED lets say Bryan was not in the cards then would they really let Batista win? the Answer is no, they would of found another way to give the title to someone else.

They thought Batista would get a better reaction, he did not, there is no way in hell they were going to let him walk out champ.

Basic WWE storyline and logic is this, if a planed story is not working disregard it and pretend it never happen. they would ignore Batista winning the Royal rumble, or have him make it a three way still with someone else. If worse came to worse they would have him win but then have someone manage to sneak in a 2nd match Ala Hulk Hogan

It doesn't take a genius to see that him winning the Rumble only to tap in the main event of WM wasn't the plan.

Still don't mean he would win the title. Remember Danial Bryan was not even going to be near the belt at the time Batista would of made this deal. He would of fought Randy so of course he was not meant to tap*

* assuming they kept randy and him etc, hence why you dont promise things, it can change like it did.

Pepole were so sure Batista was garented to win the title just like they were sure that Brayn would not get his moment, just like they were sure that Evolution would not put over Shield or that Taker would not lose at WM etc.

Point being we assume we know whats going on when 99% of the time we don't.

Randy had just beating Cena and unfied the titles recently and I could see just as much reason for Batista to lose to Randy there as well.

Let's say Bryan never picked up, but they still booed Batista what then? have heel vs heel? they either turn one (most likely Randy) or they would add a third man anyways

Pepole assume WWE= give belt to part timer for promotion reasons but the fact is historically they have almost never, done that. Only guy close is the Rock. Batista is no Rock, i dont think the out come is as clear as others make it out to be.

Werent there rumors about Jericho having a promised title run in his 2007 WWE deal?
Even if he wasnt promised a title in ink, he still is a trooper for getting plans changed on him like that and it must suck for him as well but like I alluded to with the nWo Vince has a history of doing that.

there are also rumors that there have been multiple Kanes, undertakers, and ultimate warriors. Most of them are unfounded. There is not one proven case of anyone ever being offered a title in their contract, you dont do that. You might offer a certin push or spot (Main event WM) but not who wins, biggest reason why is that ties your hands, they singed this deal at least three or so months before WM the deal it self was most likely a lot longer in the making. Lot of time for things to go wrong so you don't promise them the title, you keep your options open. Don't get me wrong they may of hinted at him winning, or made it seem that way, but they never officially told him "Hey you join we give you the title"

As for him being a trooper meh, I think most of us are guessing as to what the plans is and have no way of knowing. We are acting like its a fact that he was going to win. I'm not so sure

IMO there is no chance in hell in any way they ever gave him any sort of physical promise for the title. and there is nothing to say that if Bryan had not shot up like a rocket that Batista would of walked out with the strap

 4. I still don't think Batista was promised any title win, WWe has never, nor will they ever do that. there is no proof of this, no one in the know screaming about it, Batista did not make a fuss about it, there is NO reason to think he was.

For an entire decade now everything WWE has done was a vehicle to get the babyface John Cena over. There are countless examples of guys being pushed as big heels and being fed to Cena instantly for no other reason than because Cena is on top.

If he somehow went heel it's not like someone (Bryan) would just assume the Cena role and he'd be another heel, the entire philosophy of the WWE would have to change. I think that is the most appealing part of it all. Think about all of the things they dedicated to getting Cena over recently like Nexus, Rock, Ryback's heel turn, or even going back to the days where he faced off against various monsters like Umaga or Khali. If he was a heel things would be totally different.

why cant someone just assume Cenas role? Hogan did it, quite a few decades of wrestling has a guy who is the #1 guy for years, he steps down they find another.

Not to hard, they do it cause it works, its easy, and makes sure you have merc to sale
