We started the program with tag team action featuring four up-and-coming talents. The announce team was sure to point out that Generation Z were looking for a bout with The Brothers Cain that wouldn’t end in a disqualification. They continued to note that Generation Z were frustrated by the aggressive attacks by the Brothers Cain and were looking to settle the score.

Within the ring, a simple performance saw Generation Z showcase their skill in tandem, setting down Draper with a Boomer Blast.

    Interview

Adrian Garcia was joined by the CWA World Champion Christian Price for a sitdown interview. Garcia started the interview by asking “the Stud” about his defeat at the hands of Sean McFly and the Stones at Total Elimination. Price was dismissive, quickly pointing out that McFly sprung surprises on Elite by refusing to even name his partners. Furthermore, Price questioned how Elite could have possibly been properly prepared to face 2 guys who were “retired?” and continued to mention that in no other sport would it be acceptable to not even know who the opposing team was until gametime.

Next, Garcia noted that CWA Clash Classic will officially be headlined by Christian Price defending his World Championship against Sean McFly. Price audible groaned before questioning why guys like Sean McFly and the Stone Family can’t let go. He called the veteran “washed-up” and explained to Garcia that Sean McFly was not booked to wrestle tonight because he suffered a neck injury at Total Elimination. He ended the segment by warning McFly to make sure he protects his neck if he plans on even making it to Clash Classic. He reiterated that there is no surprise and no backup this time...

    Lauren Easter vs. Laura Flame

(*Apologies to anyone who was paying close attention to their picks for this show as I mistakenly listed Amber Allen in the prediction card, not Lauren Easter who I actually booked.)

Brooke Tyler joined the commentary for this bout. Tyler gloated that she and Flame survived at Total Elimination...more than “the Boss” could say. As for the match, Easter and Flame were working an even, physical contest. The conflict spilled to the floor and Easter dropped Flame with a nasty side-angle suplex at the feet of Tyler. Easter rose up and Tyler catcalled her rival. Easter pie-faced Brooke Tyler who went backwards over her announce chair.

Easter turned around just in time to eat a Flame Kick from the recovered Laura Flame. Flame tossed Easter back into the ring and knocked her out with a second kick to the mush, this time for the pinfall.

    Winner: Laura Flame

Jack DeColt came to the ring for the next segment. Jack was quick to address the status of his brother Ricky, who Jack revealed suffered 12 stitches at the hand of Marc DuBois at Total Elimination. Jack promised that Ricky would be back in-action soon. Next Jack moved onto DuBois. Jack says all he heard from DuBois was whining and crying because DuBois “couldn’t cut it--not the stress, the travel, the hard work it takes to be at the top of this sport!”

Before Jack could continue on, he was unexpectedly interrupted by Mountie Mann. The corrupt RCMC, how was citing him with “violation of decency and hogging the limelight.” Mann continued that he had some unfinished business with Jack from Total Elimination. Jack was quick to invite him down to the ring and we had a match underway...

    Jack DeColt vs. Mountie Mann

The crowd was into this match. DeColt and Mann played off each other well--a natural babyface vs. a natural heel. That said, the outcome was never really in doubt as Jack came out on top in convincing fashion.

    Post Match:

As Jack was having his hand raised by the official, DuBois had slid into the ring behind. Hearing the crowd buzz, Jack is quick to turn, ready to fend off the attack. Marc DuBois gave a cocky smirk and thought better of attacking, leaning over the top rope to flip to the floor and escaping through the crowd as Jack called after him.

The Heartbreak Express vs. George Wolfe & Jared Johnson

George Wolfe and Double J are two guys who have been under-featured to start the new year. The two quality competitors reminded the CWA-faithful just how good they were, quickly dispatching The Heartbreak Express in dominant fashion.

“The A Game” was out next. Knight was looking grim on his walk to the ring. He started by apologizing to the fans as he felt his performance at Total Elimination did not meet his standard. He recognized he fell short, and Cameron Vessey was simply an opponent that he has continued to fall short against. Knight explained he had this nagging feeling in his gut that he was better than Vessey and wanted to prove it to Vessey, prove it to the fans, and most importantly, to prove it to himself. To that end, Knight was challenging him to an “I Quit” Match at the Clash Classic...

Erik Strong & Sonny Wildside vs. Mr. Impact & Lee Rivera w/ Jenny Playmate

Erik Strong and Sonny Wildside showcased some great tag team chemistry in this bout--but the match was laid out to enhance the rivalry between Strong and Mr. Impact over the Television Championship. Per the stipulations at Total Elimination, Strong was guaranteed a shot at the title at the Clash Classic.

For over 10 minutes, a four performers worked hard and delivered a satisfactory bout with Erik Strong pinning the champ following a Strong Sault.

Donte Dunn & Skip Beau vs. Cameron Vessey & Shooter Sean Deeley

More of a mop up match from Total Elimination than anything else, the main event still delivered some great action and held the crowd’s attention. Vessey really shone here, as the announce team wondered if Vessey was trying to send a message to Aaron Knight. Otherwise, over the last few weeks of encounters, Beau and Deeley had clearly begun developing a rivalry as well. The open contest came to it’s fateful conclusion with Beau and Deeley slugging it out on the floor while Vessey soundly defeated Dunn in the middle, by submission no less.

  3. <p>I strongly suggest more players take the time and go through the Handbook and read up on angles. There are a lot of factors going into ratings, time, passive/active skills, etc. Adam broke it down pretty well. The calculations have changed in this game, but they're not a mystery.</p><p> </p><p>

The length of an angle when using Sex Appeal(and, depending on a worker's mic skill, Entertainment) is a critical factor.</p><p> </p><p>

Again, the Handbook breaks this down quite nicely.</p>

  5. <p><strong>Following Total Elimination...</strong></p><p> </p><p>

The roster had gathered around the large dining room used for catering. Steve DeColt had gathered all the hands and production crew around. He had a few of the young guys, namely Solomon Gold, Danny Draper and Alyx Winters, lugging in coolers full of Molson Ice and a few bottles of Proseco. It was a CWA tradition to toast after a big show. Quite honestly, Steve felt the show was a little underwhelming. The main event had gone too long and the crowd had fatigued--but he wasn’t going to show that. He was going to emphasize the positives.</p><p> </p><p>

“Another one in the books!” the CWA CEO began. “First, I want to start by welcoming back Dan! For you younger folks, for as long as he’s here, you listen to every damn word this guy says. He’s forgotten more tricks of the trade than most of you will ever know!” The locker room applauded for the esteemed, ring veteran. Not many people were regarded any higher than the great Dan Stone Jr. Stone, still in his ring gear and shimmering with sweat, raised his can and smiled gratefully. </p><p> </p><p>

“Next I want to point out this guy!” DeColt had turned his attention to Cam Vessey, fresh out of the shower and Molson in hand. “Hell of performance out there kid!” Again, another round of cheers for Vessey. Everyone knew he’d be an important cog in the wheel for CWA going forward. </p><p> </p><p>

“But the performance of the night belongs to….” Sonny Wildside and Diablo Duvak were slapping their folding chairs to get a drumroll going. DeColt walked around before arriving at Brooke Tyler’s feet. “That’s how you do it folks! Nice job out there. You had them up, you had them down...good stuff.” </p><p> </p><p>

Tyler smiled before remarking “give me more time next time and it’ll be even better!” The locker room cheered one more time and Aaron Knight whistled and Drake Young made some catcalls in support of their friend. </p><p> </p><p>

Chatter broke out and the room was a dull buzz as everyone enjoyed a drink as they were packing up there gear. Steve made his way over to Sean McFly. McFly bending over, icing his neck. Tamara McFly, who was visiting backstage, was by her brother's side. Steve nodded to her before directing his questions to Sean. “How you doing?”</p><p> </p><p>

McFly winced a bit before responding “I did something to my neck. I don’t know. Just some ice, I’ll be alright.”</p><p> </p><p>

DeColt nodded. “Take TV off this week. I want you rested up for the Clash Classic. No need to run you into the ground.”</p><p> </p><p>

    “I’m fine--”</p><p> </p><p>

DeColt cut him off “No Sean. Take TV off this week. We’re good.”</p><p> </p><p>

Tamara smiled down on her brother. “Listen to the man, will you?” Sean threw up his hands and winced again before nodding. </p><p> </p><p>

Tamara turned back to Steve. “Hey Steve, any chance I could come into the office one day this week? I want to talk to you about something...”</p><p> </p><p>

“Sure thing Tam. Text me tomorrow--we’ll set something up. Everything okay?”</p><p> </p><p>

“Yeah, yeah. Nothing that can’t wait. I’ll text you.”</p>

Erik Strong & The Griffin Family vs. Mr. Impact & The Montreal Mafia

-If Erik Strong outlasts Mr. Impact, he will receive a rematch for the CWA Television Championship

With that short introduction, the show was off and running. Perennial underdog Erik Strong came with strong back up this evening, partnering alongside the Griffin Brothers, Mark and Robby. Not to be outdone the CWA Television Champion Mr. Impact had a solid tag team backing him up, The Montreal Mafia, fresh off a fine display against the DeColt Boys on Championship Wrestling).

Action was fast and furious right out the gate as both teams used frequent tags to continue the see-saw action at a quick pace. Mark Raisin was the first elimination of the evening when he was caught by Mark Griffin, while coming off the top rope. The Anvil dropped Raisin with a spinebuster before tagging in his brother allowing the duo to exploit the 5-second tag rule to extinguish Raisin with the Rocket Launcher.

Robby was immediately attacked by Mr. Impact following the elimination. The younger Griffin was simply overwhelmed by the champion’s intensity, as Adrian Garcia was quick to remind viewers he was down a man and didn’t want to have to defend his title against Erik Strong a second time. Mr. Impact snapped the young Griffin around with a wicked Impact-plex (a twisting fisherman suplex), held the leg tightly and Robby Griffin was sent packing.

Erik Strong burst into the ring, looking for another taste of Mr. Impact. Impact took a powder and tagged in Dermott Ayers. Strong looked good against Ayers for the next few moments until Impact blind tagged himself in and caught Strong unaware. This led to Ayers and Impact to execute a series of quick tags to get heat on the CWA’s resident underdog.

Strong wouldn’t give in however, even catching Ayers with a surprise inside cradle for another quick elimination before making the hot tag to Mark Griffin.Griffin displayed his power with a tremendous stalling suplex that seemingly kept the TV champion in the air forever.

Mark tagged in Strong and “the Shooting Star” launched into a magnificent Strong-Sault, landing perfectly on Mr. Impact for the final elimination of the bout.

Amber Allen, Sandra Shine & Claire Winters vs. The Queen’s Court

This bout was given the time it needed to tell the best story, but did have a few standout moments. Sandra Shine was the first one eliminated, succumbing to a wicked choke bomb by Deborah Young. Claire Winters immediately jumped into the ring and brought a fiery display of striking skills that totally overwhelmed Young.

Winters tossed the menacing, but dazed, Young into the ropes. On the rebound, Winters caught Queen Snow’s “royal executioner” square in the jaw with a vicious looking elbow strike. Young completely crumpled to the mat. Referee Jonathan Taylor quickly backed Winters up as he checked on Young, supine on the mat. Taylor called for the bell as Young had been totally knocked out cold. After a moment, the powerhouse did come to, but was clearly dazed and needed to be helped to the back by medical officials.

Winters, despite the amazing display of technique and force, displayed her lack of experience however. Distracted by Young’s removal of the bout, the MMA striker was totally taken unaware by Nadia Snow. Snow slipped in and caught Claire Winters with a Snow Ball, effectively removing her from the contest.

That left a 2-1 advantage for The Queen’s Court but the CWA Women’s champion showed no hesitation as she rushed into the confrontation. After a brief exchange, Allen and Snow stalemated. Snow muscled Allen into the corner and was able to tag and work with Conroy to exploit the numbers advantage. Conroy kept the heat on, tossing Allen by her hair across the ring before rubbing her face in the mat. Conroy soaked in some jeers as she catcalled to fans. Allen recovered on the mat and when Conroy turned back, Allen was all over “Lil’ Miss Marvel.” Allen, an unquestionably superior technician to Conroy at this stage of their respective careers, had little trouble submitting Nadia Snow’s last remaining ally but a cross-armbreaker.

That left the champion and the queen. The two showed had another exchange and abruptly concluded when Snow caught Allen with an O’Conner roll after the champion collided into the turnbuckle facefirst. The replay showed Snow firmly holding onto Allen’s tights!

The DeColt Boys and Sonny Wildside were out to the ring next, the crowd clearly enamored with the DeColts. Jack began with his trademark, “Is this DeColt Country?!” as the crowd wildly endorsed the CGC stalwarts.

Ricky continued “Total Elimination is a special event for my brother and I. It’s an event that we fared pretty well at in the past.” Ricky smirked, knowing full well that both Jack and Ricky have survived every Total Elimination match they had ever competed in, both in CGC and CWA. “It’s great opportunity to fight alongside some amazing talents.” Ricky said, clapping the young daredevil Sonny Wildside across the back.

Jack finished “Which is why we have an open contract for anyone out there who wants to test their mettle! We’re not ducking anyone. If you got a group of guys for us to fight--time to send them out!”

    AsUXjck.jpg

“Hoho Boys!” Mountie Mann appeared in the maple-leaf tunnel. “It just so happens I found a couple of hardy bucks to mount up alongside me to run you out of here!”

Sonny Wildside & The DeColt Boys vs, Mountie Mann, Derek Frost and Lee Rivera w/Jenny Playmate

The 6 competitors met in the middle of the ring and collided into a flurry of fists. Quickly each opponent found a dancing partner and brawling was happening inside and outside of the ring. Official Alan Gray called for the bell and signaled for things to start with Jack DeColt and Derek Frost as the starting legal man. On the floor, Mountie Mann squared off with Ricky DeColt as Sonny Wildside tangled with Lee Rivera on the far side of the ring. Things settled down eventually with Gray rounding everyone up in their respective corners.

All 6 men survived for over 8 minutes, the first match to go that long without an elimination. The streak was broken when Sonny Wildside came off the top with a corkscrew press only for Mountie Mann to roll out of the way at the last moment. The corrupt RCMP made a quick tag to Derek Frost who was able to plant the prone Wildside with a Snow Plow.

“The Ice Man” and Jack DeColt once again squared off and the big, bulky brawler cut DeColt off from his brother and locked in a tight bearhug. Jack displayed trademark DeColt fortitude however and was able to break the hold by clapping Frost’s skull (to which Garcia decried “that could pop his eardrum!”). A dazed Frost had enough veteran wherewithal to get to his corner and make the tag to Lee Rivera.

Rivera rushed in to be greeted by a hot tag and a fired-up Ricky DeColt. Ditterich was quick to point out the long-standing rivalry between Rivera and DeColt, citing the highly regarded best-of-7 series the two shared back in 2016. Much like that series, Lee Rivera came up short in this exchange too, succumbing to the DeColt .45 as Jenny Playmate screeched ringside.

Now a 2-2 match, Mountie Mann and Derek Frost simply did not have the cohesion of the DeColt Boys. Ricky and Jack handily dealt with the remaining foes over the next few minutes as their good fortune at Total Elimination continued another year.

    Post Match:

Ricky and Jack took a moment to celebrate in the ring, posing for the 30,000 strong who had gathered here tonight. As the duo were headed back down the aisle, a man with a black coat and ballcap hopped the crowd barricade, chair in hand.

He charge the unsuspecting Ricky DeColt who was trailing his brother. THWAP! The sickening sound of flesh on steel clapped through the arena as the man swung the chair across Ricky’s shoulderblades. The man picked Ricky’s prone form up and ran his headfirst into the crowd barrier.

Hearing the chair and the crowd, Jack had no turned around and made a play to drive the attacker off. The assailant hurled the chair at Jack’s head. Jack reacted, covering his face and head as the chair bounced off of him. The moment was all the man needed to dart back over the barricade. Once he was safely in the crowd, and Jack was standing over Ricky checking on him, the assailant dropped the hat and removed the coat to reveal....

She wasn’t able to push through the tandem of Laura Flame and “the Franchise Player,” Brooke Tyler. Flame took Easter down with Flame Kick, but Easter endured. Getting frustrated with her inability to eliminate Easter, Flame tagged in Tyler who delivered the Brooke-Breaker for the win.

The heat was fantastic right off the gate as the crowd buzzed for these 6 men. For over twenty minutes all 6 men worked hard, neither side able to score an elimination. When the first one came, it was a shock. The heel team had cut off Knight from his partners. Bloodstone tried a bridging Northern Lights Suplex but Knight kicked out at 2. Getting frustrated, Bloodstone tagged in Deely and took the “A-Game” for a ride with 3 rolling German Suplexes in succession before tagging in Vessey who finished off his rival with a devastating Vesey Driver.

And like that, Aaron Knight was the first elimination of the bout.

Skip Beau charged into the fray pummeling Vessey with everything he had. Vessey was quick to bring Bloodstone in, not wanting to deal with the fresh Beau. Bloodstone did not fend much better as “the Flow” was clearly flowing. In an impressive display, Beau held Bloodstone up in a fireman’s carry before flipping forward, crashing across the midsection of Bloodstone (the old Rolling Hills, made famous by Fit Finlay!). Beau continued his hot streak following up with the Flow Down, sending Bloodstone to the back.

Unfortunately that’s when “the Flow” petered out. Deely and Vessey were quick to take things back under control, taunting Dunn on the apron so he’d charge into the ring, only to be admonished by referee Alan Gray allowing the double-team. After a few minutes of this, Deely submitted Beau for the next elimination.

“The Barbadian Barbarian” shone for the next several minutes as he fended off the man advantage. Dunn lasted through a bevy of offense and, with the crowd behind him, caught Sean Deely the Sunny Daze seemingly out of nowhere, bringing the bout to one-on-one. By this point in the bout, Dunn has simply suffered through too much. After a few false finishes, Donte Dunn succumbed to the Vessey Driver.

    Locker Room Promo

The Elite were gathered in their locker-room. Blockbuster was stretching a weight band as Drake Young massaged the shoulders of Collier and Jones.

The CWA Champion Christian Price sat in the foreground, looking down on his title. “Sean, we tried to do things the easy way.” “The Stud” began. “You could have just walked away. Now here we are. Quite honestly, I don’t care who you have to be your partners tonight...and quite honestly I don’t really care. Because whoever you got...they aren’t ELITE.” The champ smirked.

Diablo Duvak & Generation Z vs. Robin DaLay & The Brothers Cain

The bout had the unfortunate task of cooling the crowd a bit before the main event. The story was built around the Brothers Cain being so combative with referee Jonathan Taylor that they ended up getting themselves disqualified and tossed out several minutes into the bout. With that Robin DaLay couldn’t do much as the babyface team stayed intact throughout the whole bout.

The Elite had made their entrances first and were awaiting the arrival of McFly and his partners in the ring. The moment seemed to stretch...

    clCrDJR.jpg

McFly made his way through the maple leaf tunnel and stood for a few moments as the music stopped. The crowd chanted “Mc-Fly! Mc-Fly” for a few moments before he simply smirked and put his fingers to his lips, shushing the tumult.

A theme filled the arena next, one that hadn’t been heard in Canadian arenas for nearly five years. Out came…

Sean McFly, Dan Stone Jr. & Jeremey Stone w/ Duane Stone vs. Elite (Price & The Dynamite Express) w/ Blockbuster & Drake Young

Christian Price and Drake Young pleaded with head official Eugene Williams that the Stones were retired and they had no business being the ring (a point Adrian Garcia agreed with!). Williams shook his head and the Elite turned around in time as McFly and the Stones charged into the ring and took the fight right to the cocky champion and his entourage.

The Stones, particularly the older Jeremy, had clearly lost a bit of step, given their age and time away from the ring. That didn’t matter to the fans in attendance however. They were thrilled to see the Candain stalwarts back in the saddle, doing what they do best--pro wrestling.

For the next half hour, the 6-men weaved an entertaining tale for the fans. Duane Stone played his part as the ringside counter to Drake Young and Blockbuster. In between the ropes, Sean McFly did the majority of the selling for the babyface side, making timely tags to Jeremy and Dan to take control. Dan submitted Collier with a Stone Ankle Stretch and Jeremy caused Jones to tap in a Stone Hold.

That left Christian Price for McFly who sent his rival packing with a perfectly executed Delorean Driver.
