  1. Recently got back into wrestling watching AEW and had the itch to do an AEW save so I downloaded the last version of RWC for TEW16 and fired it up. When I typically book companies with TV, I do not put a lot of thought into long term booking, but wanted to change that this time around. I am also keeping track of wins and losses similar to how AEW does IRL. I also went in and manually released all WWE/NXT wrestlers that were let go IRL in 2020.

Here are the results for Double or Nothing along with some notes about the long term plans:

    Jon Moxley © vs PAC

Notes: Mox's long term plans are tied into a few other storylines, this is just a title defense for him since PAC was left without a major storyline at the start of the game. Eddie Kingston was brought in to provide Moxley with someone to act as backup.

Kenny Omega & Adam Page © vs The Young Bucks

Notes: Long term plan for Kenny is to follow closely what happened IRL, with him eventually turning heel and winning the gold. Page's long term plans will be addressed a little further down the list. This match was chosen to get a good rating and title defense for Omega & Page while I build up another team. Still unsure on long term plans for the Bucks, but their current heel run is making me lean towards that direction.

Hikaru Shida vs Nyla Rose ©

Notes: Had Shida take the belt here, Nyla's match performances as champ were not good so I needed to get the belt off her. Eventually Baker will take the title off Shida and then down the line, the title will end up with Statlander.

Guardians of the Fellowship of the Ring vs "Red Giant" Pudd Nelson, Mick "The Kracken" McKracken, "Powercat" Jeff Winslow, "Bareback" Benny Figg and Mockingbird.

Notes: Ok, so my biggest storyline is heavily influenced by the MCU, and I thought why not use more MCU influence. Guardians of the Fellowship of the Ring is a group made up of Orange Cassidy, Chuck Taylor, Trent?, Colt Cabana and Kris Statlander and it is basically the wrestling version of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Instead of Matt Hardy showing up to help the Elite vs the Inner Circle, I had him show up as "The Collector" and has been doing weekly angles with the GotFotR where I hire local "legends" as part of Hardy's Collection. So far I've used Virgil, 2 Cold Scorpio, the bWo, and a few others I can't recall off the top of my head. I brought in Raven to be the leader of the heels and to slowly corrupt Hardy. I brought in Erick Rowan, Austin Aeries, the Ballard Brothers, and Laura James to lose the night of the PPV, all renamed using Chuck Taylor's list of unused gimmicks, except for James. Rowan and Aeries will be brought in on 1 year contracts to carry on their roles and I will add more to the group as I go. I've seriously had way too much fun booking this storyline.

    Brian Cage vs Cody

Notes: Had Brian Cage win the inaugural TNT title tournament, as I didn't want all of the titles to be on faces and Cage was putting out great matches.

MJF wins the Casino Ladder Match

Notes: Planned on doing a long burn formation of the Pinnacle, but retirement for Tully Blanchard pushed the plans up and this was a result of that. One note is that Shawn Spears will be replaced by Curtis Axel in my version of Pinnacle.

    The Dark Order vs SCU

Notes: The plan for the Dark Order is the biggest storyline I'll have going for all of 2020 in this save. The plan is for the Dark Order to kidnap and brainwash Adam Page turning him into The Dark Soldier. Page will appear to be fine once Kenny and the Bucks get him back, but when Uno and Stu get their tag title shot, Uno will whisper into Page's ear and Page will instantly turn into The Dark Soldier and attack Omega allowing the Dark Order to win the tag titles. The Dark Order will use their secret weapon to win all the AEW titles for a period of time. This will lead to AEW turning to the only group strong enough to be capable of stopping them, that's right, Guardians of the Fellowship of the Ring. With the help of John Silver and Alex Reynolds, they will get Page away from the clutches of Brodie Lee. This will lead to Page trying to overcome his Dark Soldier period by "crossing off names" of the people he was able to defeat as the Dark Soldier, eventually leading to him winning the AEW World Title off of Brodie Lee. He will eventually lose it to heel Omega, and have to decide if he wants to channel the power of The Dark Soldier to recapture the title.

The Inner Circle vs Jurassic Express

Notes: Making sure Jericho gets on the card and a punishment for Luchasauras for testing positive for roids. Inner Circle will eventually turn face and fued with Pinnacle as they did IRL.

  2. My shows follow a very predictable outline, opening show promo with one of the top 2/3 storylines, followed up by matches that are followed by promos building their associated storyline. Makes booking weekly TV shows quick and easy, just make sure all my storylines get advanced. Also need to have a solid backstage interviewer to help build skills and boost angles with my mid-carders who can't quite carry the angles on their own yet.

I'm also huge on stables and freestyle angles. My shows almost always have 3 or 4 angles with 8 people in them.

  3. Anyone else getting some unfortunate and consistent popularity caps?

Steven Parker seems to have capped at 70 Popularity in my current game, and has capped at this in many past runs.

Crippler seems to consistently cap at either the 76 he starts at or not much higher than the low 80's

I seem to have gotten lucky with Gilmore as his cap seems to be 90, except for in Maritimes Canada of all places where it hasn't increased from his base 77 lol.. which also happens a lot, but it kinda seems tied to the potential fanbase of an area. .

Remo, Rocky, Rogue, Valiant, seem stuck where they start in every game I play. .

and I've had Spencer Spade of all people get capped around 78 to 82 many times. .

I know high momentum helps boost them and I don't think it's a bug per se, but it does seem unfortunately consistent. . I was just curious if it's the same for anyone else. .

Decided to take a look due to your post, only one that seems to have capped right now is Scythe at 74, which SUCKS.

  4. Matthew Keith sounds perfect for this.

For a proper indie guy, someone like Fro Sure is a good bet. Other options could be Kip Keenan, Cowboy Buck Winchester, or Nelson Callum.

From your roster, I'd look at Steve Parker. Only problem is he's quite old to push from his current position to a main-event star.

I have a deep love for Steven Parker, he can be built up quickly to a main event player with the right fueds. But his star quality and mic skills aren't quite top star level.

Another indy suggestion I have would be Logan Wolfsbaine, his entertainment skills are much much better than they were in 16 and he's still really young if you're planning on doing a long term save.

  5. So asking for input. Background in 1st paragraph. Questions after that.

I've decided to run an SWF scenario where Rocky Golden goes off for a year to pursue an acting career (on hiatus and will return as a free agent). I'm not doing this for some super hard challenge (I split his overness plus a bit between Scythe, Rogue and Valiant which I can defend because as he's leaving I'm expending more effort on them, justifying the overness boost). I just don't really want Golden to be "the uber guy" and I've always been fascinated with the "who would have been Hogan if Hogan didn't sign?" or "Who will replace Hogan?". So I'm doing it here.

So since Golden isn't "uberman" who should be? I thought about grabbing Wolfie H and saying I would have signed him instead but he's too good. Anyway I want the person I focus on to be someone the SWF has (Cverse canon) or will (my gameplay) build up.

So who should it (or they) be? Valiant and Mikey Lau will be 1-2 for now. I'm turning Rogue face because he took the belt and Scythe's title shot so Scythe has targeted him. I'm looking for someone that has presence but not uber presence (so Batman and not Superman). He should be able to talk and at least be pretty good in the ring. I'm not wanting to pluck a big time free agent. I'd rather build someone I have or a lower level free agent up.

    Any ideas? Thanks.

If you don't get hung up on this character being a certain size, I would suggest Spencer Spade. He's only Middleweight but has excellent Star Quality, he can talk and he's solid in the ring while still being young. He's always been considered as the homegrown figurehead in waiting for SWF.

  6. <p>Finally got around to booking another month in my save after a busy holiday weekend. Spencer Spade is now number 3 on my list of Franchise Players right behind Rocky and Remo. Planning on doing a 3 month build of Spade vs Parker (who is up to Star perception) to SC and pulling the double turn at the event. Remo's contract came up and I had to shell out big bucks to keep him away from USPW. I also ended up stealing both Greg Gauge and Edd Stone from TCW, just waiting on their contracts to start. Brought back Jack Bruce on a handshake deal, but not sure exactly what my plan is for him just yet. Ekuma and High Flying Hawaiian still have the tag belts and are currently fueding with the Awesomeness and Brandon James/John Greed. Currently planning on kicking Monty and Justin Sensitive out of the Rat Pack and replacing them with Dominic DeSousa and Sammy Smoke as a tag team and giving Paul a single's push. </p><p> </p><p>

Weird to see everyone having such great success with Smasher, maybe he just got a bad roll in my game, but he hasn't been anything special.</p>

  7. thanks for the suggestions.

I've used Greed as the leader or spokesperson for a cult stable. In one of my many unfinished games he was the "power behind the throne". But I saw the "Jimmy Jacobs" render of Mainstream and it came to me. That and he reminded me of a modern young preacher of a megachurch so that's where it came from.

I was thinking more as Joy being the hypocritical positivity preacher and Scythe being this independent force he associates with. He tries to control it but Scythe has a will of his own. They would be more like equals, struggling for power while associating with each other for their own ends. More likely as you said I'll use Greed in the role as spokesperson for Scythe.

Those are some good muscle suggestions. Hell's Bouncer is another one I use for muscle. I really like the Dreadnaught idea

I made Eric Eisen his mouthpiece when Eric was given the evil GM role. Also added Rogue in there due to some injuries. Greed is kind of in no man's land as I don't have a current plan for him. Playing around with the idea of having him and Brandon James as a tag team, but I don't really have room for another top heel team right now.

  8. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="rufas2000" data-cite="rufas2000" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="47503" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Wow, I assumed Parker was a heel lol. I never even looked. <p> </p><p> Anyway I think Mainstream Hernandez can be a star but I'm not feeling the name or gimmick. In 2016 I had him as Lance Joy. He was a Fallon style entertainer who would do segments with Sam Strong (I unretired and signed him, oops). When that went meh I turned him into a cult leader with the "House of Joy" (Huntington, Sexy and McClean were the "Deacons of Joy", Scythe was the judgment for those who didn't embrace Joy). </p><p> </p><p> Maybe I'll go that way but Scythe obviously won't be mere muscle though. I'm open to something else. Instagram influencer gimmick came to mind but that locks me into heel territory (wrestling fans cheering for an influencer, nah).</p><p> </p><p> Anyway any suggestions appreciated.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I usually change his name to Jimmy/James Hernandez, as I also can't stand the Mainstream name and pick a render that doesn't have a puka shell necklace. I also turned him face early on to help balance things out. In 2016 he turned into a real star in my SWF save. I usually book him as a mix of Matt Riddle subtle stoner mannerisms mixed with pretty boy face character. I guess somewhat close to NXT Tyler Breeze in that respect, but not full blown "I'm a model" territory.</p><p> </p><p> John Greed is always my go-to guy when any cultish heel stable is formed, either as the leader, mouthpiece, or just a member. If you're looking for muscle that isn't Scythe, there are a lot of good monster heels that could benefit from a gimmick change near the bottom of the card like Avalanche, Chill or Bear or in development like Son of Vengeance. Could also being in a free agent like Dreadnought.</p>
  9. This sounds like the game is treating the developmental guys as if they were on the main roster. It's been common (since what, TEW13?) for low pop people to be given a bit of a boost, with regard to popularity gain, when they join a large company. It brings them inline with people at/near the bottom of the card. If your unimportant people average 30 popularity and some guy comes in with 8 popularity, it'll give a little jump to get them to the mid-20s quickly so they'll be somewhat useful. That sounds like a bug OR a great feature to make developmental workers instantly useful (though the "downside" is it'll probably make the dev promotion shoot up in size really quickly).

That is what I thought as well, but I hired all these guys right at the start of the game and they have been featured multiple times on my B show and a few appearances on the A show. The only one on the main roster that has managed to crack the 20's across the board is Ant-Man who is getting some rub in angles on the main show right now and he just hit 21 pop. I've had Ernest Youngman and Davis Wayne Newton get clean wins over Jungle Lord and American Machine and their pop has gone up maybe 10 points from where it started. Meanwhile Logan Wolfsbaine has gone 6-2 in development and is 37 across the world. If it's working as intended, that's great, I have no issue doing the NXT route of throwing guys in development for a few months to introduce them and then call them up. Just doesn't feel like it's working correctly.

  10. Just finished up March in my first SWF save and it's going well. Have managed to elevate Parker, Spade, Hernandez, and Primus firmly into Star territory. Stole Rick Law from USPW to give myself another upper card babyface and have won the last 2 area battles against them. Slowly building to a Spade vs Parker NA Championship fued to really push them to the next level, debating if I want to try to pull a double turn. Despite what their attributes might say, I've always seen Parker as the heel and Spade as the face.
  11. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="RACZero" data-cite="RACZero" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="47811" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Same thing happened with me when I created a developmental for TCW. For months it was impossible to raise the pop meaningfully for the women division I created but when I looked at the women at developmental, six of them were 52-60 in pop in the same three months.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Good to see it's not just me. At this point I'm just going to call up the guys that are over and send the others down to development to get their pop up quickly.</p>
  12. Not sure if anyone else has posted this or if I should put in the Tech Support forum, but has anyone else noticed that Developmental workers gain pop a lot quicker than main roster guys? I'm playing as SWF and gave myself a network and gave RIPW air time on the network, I now have 4 guys (Logan Wolfsbaine, Austin Smooth and two others I can't remember) who went from single digit pop to 25-40 across the board in 3 months. Meanwhile guys that were on the main roster (Ernest Youngman, Davis Wayne Newton) have gone up about maybe 10 points in the same time frame, while constantly getting wins and a few wins over guys with 40-55 pop.
  13. Almost every example here isp far of people saying someone has dropped a level cleary hasn't read about what perception is.... it's a fan view of the wrestler's populaity blended with their momentum. Losses hurt both of those things, unless you are protecting them so of course they are losing. A Major Star for a company is (roughly) about 125% of company popularity with neutral momentum, 115% of company popularity with warm momentum 105% of company popularity with hot momentum and so on....

Ricky DeColt is a big name, but he's not much bigger than the company he's working for and you're jobbing him out. Don't do that. Protect your stars. We all moan when WWE does things like 50/50 booking because they aren't protecting their stars. Well, it's your job as booker to do that. Ricky DeColt might get his win back down the line and feel like a bigger star down the line but you've done short term damage to him to get there.

TEW ain't gonna be too easy and Perception is MEANT to be more volatile. It scales relative to your company size, not to others on your roster. So if you have a megastar on top who is your only Major Star, you want to look after them... cos if you don't, you're going to hurt your attendances and make less money. All part of the tough life of being a booker. Far more nuance, far more consequences, for more REALISM! (ew, realism :p )

PS: At the highest levels of worker and company popularity perceptions become more absolute. Someone with 80+ popularity would generally always be a Star or higher unless you have somehow murdered their momentum.

PPS: It does take a bit of getting used to. But I think almost everyone will grow to appreciate just how important it is to manage no matter your companhy size... losing a big star can be ROUGH now, for so many reasons!

I understand completely what you are saying here, but this is something I just experienced in my SWF that doesn't make sense. At the start of the save Scythe has White Hot momentum and is considered a major star. The main event of my first Supreme TV was Scythe and Randy defeating Rocky Golden and Angry Gilmore in an 82 ranked tag match followed by an 81 rated angle with him being successful. After that 1 show he dropped down to Star and now has Warm momentum. I don't get how he drops a level and has his momentum have such a drastic drop after a win and a successful angle, which are both rated higher than his overall and the pop of the company.

  14. <p>SWF was the first fed I got invested in when I started getting into the C-Verse in 2016. I actually like the position they are in at the start of 2020, although it feels very similar to where they were in 2016. You have quite a few aging stars to use to help put over the up and comers. Spade, Parker, Starr, and Hernandez should only need a few storylines with the aging vets to get over the hump and make it firmly to the upper end of the card. I did a test save to get used to some of the new mechanics without much structure, but I have some solid plans for a more focused save. I think I'll milk a Golden vs Remo program one more time for SC and build up Scythe with Eric Eisen as his mouthpiece to be the true Monster Heel for the following year. One thing I did change was to switch Match Focus from Three Ring to Main Event. I was really struggling to get the minimum score of 81 for CANN with Three Ring focus. </p><p> </p><p>

I also got to experience one of the new mechanics that is really cool, with stars coming to me offering to put over younger talent. Randy and Mikey offered to put over High Flying Hawaiian and Valiant offering to put over Ranger.</p>

  15. <p>First thing is to load up a default save to check out the changes to C-Verse. In previous years I was a RW player only, but something about then C-Verse clicked with me in 2016 and its pretty much all I play now. Secondly, I will take a look at how much work it will be to edit the data to bring some of my 2016 saves into 2020. I know the converter doesn't exist, but I have two saves I would really like to bring to 2020, so I'll be checking out the feasibility of doing that. </p><p> </p><p>

The one gameplay change I think I'm most looking forward to is going to being able to run a child/developmental company. So that will probably be my first save.</p>

  16. I recently started a new save with I think the 2005 data where I added the COTT as its own company that I control and gave myself a small network to broadcast a weekly show and events. Brought in the champs from the other promotions on PPA contracts. It's been a really fun save so far. James Prudence is currently the champ, but Mean Jean is going to follow up his Rip Chord Invitational win with a COTT Title reign here shortly.
  17. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Munit" data-cite="Munit" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="47048" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><a href="http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=544045" rel="external nofollow">http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=544045</a></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Just seeing this, thanks a lot man.</p>
  18. There's also one set in the 70's when territory wrestling was still strong. A couple of years or so before the SWF started consolidating into the form we know today. And one in the works that would take the C-Verse all the way back to 1931.

I've always heard of this mod, but I don't think I've ever seen it. Does anyone have a link to it? Interested in checking it out.
