  1. It was an above-average B-PPV, although the final match didn't really work for me. I never really believed Orton would win, and the story of the match involved Kane a bit too much. Cena/Rusev was the worst encounter they've had; can't wait for a QTE in WWE 2K17 where you have to light up corners. That said, Show/Reigns really surprised me how much fun it was. If the ending had just been Reigns spearing Show through the table, I think it would've been my match of the night. But that dumb "cover the heel with stuff" gimmick has been done, so I gotta go with the tag match.

I thought I was the only one confused as to why Cole keep saying the red light was on whenever Rusev touched a corner. I also feel that Reigns/Show was surprising, but Reigns is nowhere near convincing me that he deserved a shot at Mania.

  2. Extreme Rules Review:

BNB vs Neville - Good match.

Bray Wyatt - Relegated to the pre-show for another veiled promo about Ryback? They already killed his momentum at Wrestlemania and this schtick is getting stale. They might as well feed him to Reigns.

Ambrose vs Harper - Solid match. Not as extreme as it could have been and we didn't see any action outside the arena but the execution was fun. Ambrose broke his PPV losing streak. I wonder if the results on this show are leading to a Rollins vs Reigns vs Ambrose main event at MITB.

Ziggler vs Sheamus - Good match. Ziggler winning worked well because of the heat Sheamus got for screwing him over after the match.

New Day vs Brass Ring Club (Tag Team Championship) - Great match with a hot crowd and a surprise result. Probably the best tag match since the Usos/Wyatt feud. It would have been criminal to put this on the Kickoff show. Xavier was the most entertaining and he wasn't even wrestling. "What did we do? We're winning!" "New day! New champs!"

Rusev vs Cena (US Title) - Solid for a chain/strap match. The spot with Lana was fun. Another match at Payback is stupid if Rusev doesn't win. The only way Cena will say "I quit" is if Rusev threatens to hit Lana.

Nikki vs Naomi (Divas Championship) - Solid match. Naomi's new entrance song is annoying and her new accessories make her look like a cheap Sasha Banks knock-off. Who did Nikki kiss in the crowd?

Big Show vs Reigns - Good match. That makes 3 in a row on PPV for Reigns. Quality heeling from Big Show. "No tables! I'm a giant!"

Dallas vs Ryback - Love me some Bo. They should have him create his own WWE Inspirational Title and act like he's the face of the company. It's what they should have done last year before he lost his winning streak. #savebofromjobberhell

Orton vs Rollins - Solid match but underwhelming until the overbooking started. I marked out for Orton's Pedigree, Punt Kick tease and Rollins' RKO.

Verdict: Solid PPV with a hot crowd. Nothing bad but no MOTY contenders either. When your best PPV match is for the tag titles that was supposed to be on the Kickoff Show and the main event isn't even a Top 3 match, there's clearly room for improvement.

I agree with all of your points.

  3. Just putting the feelers out for an idea I've begun working on... Would there be any interest in this...?

    Part One… The beginning…

    http://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q735/bazzalloyd86/NOTBPW%20vs%20CGC%20Diary/Events/CGC_DeColtWrestleFestival2_zpskckvp4od.jpg

Monday, Week 1, April 2012… Backstage at the annual DeColt WrestleFestival, Day Two…

Former CGC owner, and head of the famous DeColt family, George DeColt is sat in the VIP sweet enjoying the action on a TV monitor…

    http://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q735/bazzalloyd86/NOTBPW%20vs%20CGC%20Diary/Workers/GeorgeDeColt_alt1_zpshzadv9dr.jpg

The room is filled with some legendary names, like George DeColt’s former tag team partner in the ‘Calgary Wolverines’: Whipper Spencer Marks… Their biggest rivals, Frenchie Marcel and Jean-Pierre Baptiste are catching up over some beers at the bar… Jackson Andrews watches the match with his old friend… George is loving seeing his two sons Alex and Jack win the Main Event tag team match against the old enemy: The Elite… but something in the back of his mind is telling him that this tried and tested formula is stopping his son’s company from expanding, and Canadian Golden Combat will never be the global force he had once dreamed of it becoming… just like the ultra-successful SWF…

Just then, in walked another legendary name… and another head of a famous Canadian wrestling family… Dan Stone Snr…

    http://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q735/bazzalloyd86/NOTBPW%20vs%20CGC%20Diary/Workers/Dan%20Stone_zps2vdjutpp.jpg

Stone thanked DeColt for the invitation, and told him how great the show has been…

    Dan Stone Snr:
“I noticed you got the camera man to pick me out of the crowd and put me on the screen… capitalising on my popularity were ya buddy?! Hahaha!!”

The two shared a laugh, and shared some old ‘war stories’… They are great friends, and the rivalry between NOTBPW and CGC has always been a friendly one, mainly due to the fact that they are both very different companies, with completely different products, and therefore can co-exist simultaneously… The conversation between the two flowed for a long time, and Dan Stone even asked when DeColt was going to book
    his
sons on CGC’s signature event… but then things got serious, as both men seemed to have an idea…

    George DeColt:
“Have you ever thought about booking a ‘Canadian Super Card’ together… Me… You… My sons… Your sons… House of Stone graduates… DeColt Powerhouse graduates… all on the same card…?”

Dan Stone Snr thought about it for a moment… So many ideas floating around in his head… but then he said that he can do him one better than that…

This could be the beginning of something…

I would read ANYTHING you wrote.

  4. Yeah, this event was pretty terrible. Reigns is not ready for a Wrestlemania main event at all.

Maybe it's because I finally just listened to those podcasts yesterday, but the fact that Reigns already has one, and Punk never did just doesn't seem right to me. He's so green. I'm pretty sure I'd be ok if it were either of the other Shield members, but Reigns just isn't there yet.

Exactly. If this was after he learns how to do promos, and when he refines his skills more, I would be okay with it. This should be taking place in two years.

  5. I've been thinking a lot lately about this whole dynasty thing and came to a realization. In my 7 years that I've been part of GDS, there's one company that I really enjoy booking above all. I used to be all about niche products, or underdogs looking to take down the 'big dogs', but those days of 20's angst is just not there anymore. I'm not that guy (and haven't been for some time now).

As you've noticed, my writing productivity has dropped down drastically. I used to be able to pump out a show a week. Now, with teaching (which is my top priority; along with my wife and baby on the way), I don't have half the amount of time that I once had. Instead of cutting on quality, I'm instead cutting down on quantity. So, to follow one of my projects now means you have to be able to wait quite some time for new updates.

With all of that said, again, I've been thinking lately. DOA has been fun BUT there's one company that I love to book above all. That's SWF.

Now, mind you, this project would NOT be anywhere NEAR as fast moving as "Where Men Become Legends." Also, I have some fears about jumping back into a lane that was so successful (as I hope I can still live up to what I was able to do). That said, I'm looking at this much like a sequel would; it may or may not be as good.

This would not really be a true sequel. This project would be a 'new world' and I feel I've come up with a great story that would be unique (versus just a rehashing of my last project). Sure, there are some characters that I don't think I can (or want to) write differently BUT there will be some new takes on the characters that I once booked before (essentially a clean slate).

My reasoning for posting this is to ask... Would you be willing to read (ie: go down that road again) an SWF project from me; especially with one that doesn't move half-way as fast? I mean, with DOA, I was able to finish one show in about a month. That's what I'm expecting (possibly 2 if I have free time).

    So, what do you think?

Just do whatever you want to do. You will get readers either way. Do what you want to do without getting bored or feeling obligated.

  6. The problem with Corbin/Bull is there was too much Bull involved. I am surprised he hasn't taken over the Mojo Rawley spot of being universally hated by the fans. He seems very blah to me.

    My problems with Bull:

    1. His look - he looks like a fatter Rhino + Roman Reigns

    2. His finisher

    3. He talks too much

Corbin isn't great, as far as look goes, but he caught my eye with the finisher and the silent bruiser character. First time I saw Bull I was underwhelmed.

The TKO angle - didn't they run this with Graves vs Zayn before Graves had to retire from in-ring competition?

I feel like Bull Dempsey has no character and is very bland in his style.
