  1. After a long hiatus from the game (dang you CK3!), I returned to it with new ideas for some workers I previously didn't work very well with.

Black Diamond - once I got rid of her lame default finisher (belly to belly? Really?) and gave her a Diamond Cutter and Black Diamond Driver (Steiner Screwdriver), her character popped with me. Teaming with Juliet Balconi and Spider Isako (when Juliet went to film a TV show), she got to work her way up the card and it's exciting to line up veterans for her to feud with.

Commissioner Bomb - I've always loved Sheri and that doesn't stop now that she's retired. If you take Teddy Long, Eric Bischoff, Sheriff Austin, and Dusty Rhodes and put 'em in a bottle and shake it up, you have Commissioner Bomb. She has her own 2 Minute Warning (The Titans, Gorgon and Karen Bilous), her own big bad to punish people by going 'one-on-one with' (Kaori Mochizuki) while still being entertaining and menacing on her own.

Tag Teams: Lilly & Rose, the Dublin Gals, The Uprising, Viper Squad, the San Diego Girls, Hidden Gems (Reese & Wells), World's Greatest Tag Team (Anderson & Snyder), Tex-Mex, Team SUB, Phalanx (Aud Valkyrie & Geena the Warrior Princess), Payback Inc, Best In The World (Perez & Torres), Good Lookin' Bunny, Queens of the Damned, Electric Blue Moon, California Dreams, The Rage, Liquid Dreams (Black Diamond & Juliet Balconi), The Golden Suzushiidere (Black Diamond & Spider Isako), The Icons (Danielle Sweetheart & Alina America), and on and on.

Paige Croft - my much beloved upper midcard gatekeeper, who can also sub in and work an excellent main event/world title program when needed. Most of her wins come against recognizable/well known level young workers and she can convincingly carry the Shockwave title before dropping it to an up and comer and feuding with them to solidify their status.

Melody - when USPW let her walk, I jumped on her. She is the absolute best I've seen for shining up young workers. She's going to end the reign of terror of Emma May & The Furies and take the world title.

  2. I think the previous suggestions are good.

The problem lies with 'reality documentary'. If those workers had cameos on a Real Housewives or Vanderpump, they'd likely get more of a boost due to how viral those shows tend to be (with the gossip rags spreading the worker's name all across the internet).

I did that with Juliet Balconi, basically replacing Raquel with Juliet in "Scandoval" after she left to film a cameo in a TV show. I gave her +18 across the US, +14 across Canada, and +10 across the British Isles and Europe (people in the UK and Europe were talking about Scandoval, after all).

The problem I have with these kinds of things is factoring the internet into things. For example, Piers Morgan is FAR more famous and well known in the UK than in the US (even with his failed talk show here) but he's also a provocateur so that's what he's known for more in the States. How does that translate into popularity/name value? I'm currently thinking of making Peaches McCream sort of like that, but in the wrestling world. Kinda like a low level Meltzer but focused on the women's side as the person behind a website sort of like DIVA DIRT.

Alicia Strong is absolutely Charlotte, right?

No. Alicia Strong was more of a 'what if Hulk Hogan's daughter....". Remember, Alicia pre-dates Charlotte. Ashley was still playing volleyball when Alicia Strong was introduced. I don't think even Adam could've predicted what she would become back then.

Alexis Lee Littlefeather is basically Trish Stratus. She was hired for her looks, but worked really hard and became a respected in-ring worker.

Trish wasn't the only one who did that. Wendi Richter did it too and her simplistic moveset is closer to Littlefeather's.

I think she's a slightly bit more on the nose fusion of Trish and Mickie James. It's the backstory of improving beyond sex appeal and becoming a solid worker combined with a Native heritage and the name Alexis

Never thought of that. Makes sense though.

Prompt: I would like a logo for a women's professional wrestling company called Queens of American Wrestling. The company's initials are QAW and should be prominently featured. The logo should be themed around the American flag.

Hey guys complete noob here. I started playing 3 months ago and I have a couple of failed saves under my belt. Currently running a self owned small sized (pop 39) company in the 2004 Ruthless Agression Mod. Based in the South West. I have two questions.

    1. The first is regarding worker usage. How often do I need to use a wrestler. I have a decent roster of 25 workers. I feel compelled to use all 25 so juggling to put them all haphazardly into multi man matches. I'm afraid if I leave them out they'll complain but this strategy doesn't allow for proper matches. I'm running a 2 hour show up from 1 hour and still struggling to fit people in. I assume it has something to do with perception rating however I've had lower carders complain about not being featured?

    2. Secondly how do you book for a small promotion? I center the booking around my titles. Currently I have two of them a World title and a Tag Team title. I tend to push the Champions and their main contenders really hard but I feel this comes at the expense at the rest of my roster who have to take repeated losses to the champs and pretenders to keep their push going.

    1. The only people you HAVE to use regularly are your headliners (Major Star, Star). They will expect to be used on roughly 7 or 8 out of every 10 shows. Everybody below that has lower expectations. You don't HAVE to use everyone on every show but it might be a good idea to try to use everyone on every other show, in alternating fashion. You have a MUCH bigger roster than the minimum requirement (32 is the minimum at 'Big' so I know 25 at small is A LOT) so you should have the ability to leave out some 'unimportant' and 'recognizable' if it'll keep your 'well knowns' happy.

    2. Maybe try adding a midcard title for your well known and recognizable singles workers? You can also create a rule that might help with booking. For example, a worker or team must have 3 consecutive wins before they get a title shot. That would allow you to build people before feeding them to the champion(s). At your size, centering your booking around your titles makes sense since your champions are more likely to be workers your fans know and care about. If you build someone up to the point where the fans at least know who they are, it makes for a better match (and easier title changes) and it's easily repeatable. It also gives you a reason to book matches that aren't for the title (building those 3 wins).

I'm not a fan of QAW as I cannot really imagine what the hell it's supposed to be. AAA used to be the "small WWE". I rarely played it but it's a clear vision.

Other than that I believe all companies have their place. I liked NOTB, PGHW and CZCW and all games were fulfilling.

AAA was never "small WWE" due solely to Anne Stardust. I've hated AAA since TEW07, despite my well known preferences. I'm glad they're dead and I hope they burn in..... QAW fits where they are. SE wouldn't work in Texas (at least not at their size) and there's no other product type as widely accepted in that part of the country as lucha libre (gee, I wonder why?). Realistically, they couldn't afford many of the AAA workers and many of them wouldn't fit their product anyway so hiring the luchadoras fits both cost and product wise.

Personally, I despise every company with a women's division, especially USPW and CWA. USPW has talent that can main event their shows and do better than many of the people currently main eventing their shows if not for the built-in restriction of 'women's division'. CWA has at least one person capable of that (you know who The Franchise is) and maybe up to three, with some work. I also dislike default CWWF because...omg, so bland. That company has the personality of a 2x4. (Please don't sue me, 2x4s)

As for ACPW producing stars, Heather B is essentially Maria Kanellis pre-Mike Bennett. Redhead naive airhead with mainly looks until she develops her mic skills. I've seen Jamie Atherton and Ant Man show up in CZCW then MAW-SWF (Atherton) and USPW (Ant Man) so it's not out of the realm of possibility. They're just not ready made like a Mainstream Hernandez (who also wasn't ready made but developed a lot faster than the ACPW guys tend to).

How do you fix the "we would have gained popularity in X regions but gain is limited by the amount of people there" (paraphrased) thing? Upgrading my broadcast coverage doesn't seem to have done it

Edit: got a screencap of what I mean

    image.png.92f2ca97887c739b164e3390ab5f3dda.png

I believe this is due to the fact that your broadcaster isn't large enough to get full coverage in the game areas in question. From what I've noticed, it can be a case of a very small fan base (I get the same message for 1 region with an "Enormous" sized network in the US and it's because of Hawaii). Haven't tested it fully yet but I think it's due to the 'Natural Growth Limits' setting. Would make sense tbh. If you want to fix it, turn Natural Growth Limits off.

From what I understand what determines if someone takes your suggestion in Talk To Worker is based off your Diplomacy rating as well as their attributes. For instance someone labeled “Unable to Wrestle Again” will not be able to wrestle again. Workers also have attributes that may have been hidden by the mod maker as well.

That helps a lot, thanks. New save so my attributes are weighted heavily toward creative more than anything else. Might be a few years before I'll have enough in diplomacy to really stand a chance.

I feel like I remember there being a way in older games to see a list of people suffering from fatigue.  Is there a screen for thatin TEW 2020? Or is the only way to see it through emails?

It's in the Skills window, in the Physical Health box.

My question is about asking a worker to come out of retirement. Is it even possible to do so? Are there hidden variables that contribute to a worker's willingness to so do? I know age is noted before you ask but I've asked some young workers (under 25) with full physical health, as a Medium company with plenty of resources and positive relationships (friends, best friends, blood relatives) on my roster and no one has been willing. Do they have to already be in my employ? (I'm not signing someone unless I know it's a sure thing or at least a strong possibility) Do they have to have possible roles set already?

    TEW 2020 Question:

Does taking an Unimportant worker and giving them wins over Stars help move them up to Stars or Major Stars?

Yes but it's completely inefficient and will destroy your lineup of Stars and Major Stars (as well as their morale). If you're familiar with the storyline, use Sami Zayn as an example of taking a (formerly) perennial loser and turning him into the hottest worker in the company ('Groundswell of Support, in game terms). Or, use Solo Sikoa as a more moderate method. They don't have to beat your top stars to gain popularity. They just have to be present when your hottest programs are happening. Solo isn't main eventing Wrestlemania anytime soon but few people would bat an eye if he (with the Bloodline, even in its current state) beat Walter...errr Gunther or Austin Theory.

In theory, how fast can a worker's popularity grow ?
Like, say for instance I want to bring one or more indy workers with 0 pop in the US and have them make their debut right away in WWE's main roster: how long approximatively could/would it take for their popularity to reach midcard level, both being paired with popular workers or on their own ? Obviously, the most ideal way would be to first have them in NXT so they can grow naturally, but sometimes the storyline requires a debut straight in the middle of the big league.

It's easier and faster to pair them with workers who are more popular. Their lack of popularity will drag down angles some (if they're rated) but they'll gain large popularity bumps nonetheless. Give them wins over workers at or just above their popularity level (this is where workers who are 'Easy to Do Business With' really come in handy) and inside of 3 months, they could be midcard level. That is, assuming you book them on every available show and their angles are still rated 50+ points above their existing level of popularity.

  11. I'm surprised it took this long for AAA to go out of business. Considering the fact that in 2005 when I started TEW, social media as we know it did not exist yet. Some might cite MySpace but it was nowhere near as vital to the day to day operation of a business as YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc are. It was just like MMOs: a big deal to a very small subset of the world's population. From 1996 to 2017 (ingame canon), it existed as a time capsule, with a stale and outdated product that never changed, even as the world changed around it.

I also would've never thought NOTBPW and CGC would merge.

  12. Remember when Raw after Mania was must watch television?

Outside of Xavier Woods referencing Adventure Time, Raw was a bore, a chore, and over all a big old stinking pile of dung.

Can't really expect much from a creatively bankrupt company with a senile septuagenarian at the helm. From all accounts, if he doesn't understand how or why a worker has gotten over, he kills their push. See Zach Ryder, Rusev Day, CM Punk (attempted twice but failed), and so on. He's completely out of touch with that all-important 18-49 demographic which means the company is never going to get better until he's 6 feet under.

WWE has come to terms on the release of Samoa Joe, Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, Mickie James, Chelsea Green, Tucker, Kalisto, Bo Dallas and Wesley Blake as of today April 15, 2021.

    https://www.wwe.com/article/billie-kay-mickie-james-samoa-joe-superstars-released

Not surprising. The quarterly financials are due fairly soon. Had to drop some (meaningless) numbers from the balance sheet. These releases just prove that WWE is a ship without a rudder. They split up the only really established tag team in the women's division.....to do what, exactly? Oh yeah, release them because you have no use for an ACTUAL tag team for a poorly booked division without a single one. Women's tag titles mean less than the 24/7 title (at least the 24/7 title is entertaining - and has gotten lots of mainstream attention). I hope Chelsea goes back to Impact and resurrects Laurel Van Ness. I think Mickie might be done. Her body has almost reached papier-mâché levels of brittleness by this point. Joe can go anywhere he wants (though I hope he does AEW and NJPW).

I feel for NBCUniversal. Everyone is trying to scarf up any and all content they can to pad their streaming service (while still being annihilated by Netflix and Disney+) so NBC grossly overpaid for WWE's content just to say they have it. That, in turn, makes WWE think that they're doing great.

  13. <p>Black Diamond - how I envision Tamina should have been (without the knee injuries and blandness). Big enough to work a monster type gimmick but skilled enough to mesh with multiple styles. I tend to build my promotions around her, as the successor to whoever the top babyface is.</p><p> </p><p>

Brooke Tyler - easily the best heel stable leader on the women's side. She can carry her lesser stablemates (and opponents) to decent to good matches in all match types. She also comes tailormade for feuds with....</p><p> </p><p>

Alicia Strong & Lucy Stone-McFly - The legacy storyline can easily go for two years and pull great ratings, given the skill levels of all involved. </p><p> </p><p>

The SNP girls (Joy, Khloe, Kitty Katz, Kourtney, Laurel Wreath, Marbella) - I like the challenge of developing them into real managers, ala Trina Michaels.</p><p> </p><p>

Akemi Shiskikura, Aki Kamio, Spider Isako, Kichi Mochizuki, Yayoi Kurmochi - I will sign any Hatoyama Dojo grad but Akemi's my favorite, followed closely by Spider.</p><p> </p><p>

All the AAA alumni - I just love making them more popular in six months than they've ever been in the entirety of their run in Seattle.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Real world is a lot more limited. Sumire Natsu, Jungle Kyona, Jordynne Grace, Mandy Leon, Utami Hayashishita, Io, Kana, Sara-Marie Taylor, ASUKA, Kairi, Mayu Iwatani, Kay Lee Ray, Shanna, Xia Brookside, and Toni Storm.</p>

  14. Roster depends on what you consider an acceptable wrestling show. To me, five matches are the minimum (been to plenty of satisfying shows with that number) so my starting roster is 10 wrestlers + a referee. No announcers or road agents. No wrestlers over $100. I run shows with that and when I start making profit, I spend that profit to increasrmy setup. More talent. Better talent. Another match on the card. Etc.

This is probably the best advice I've heard. First off, you should not have a TV deal. The costs associated with it are prohibitive if you're looking to remain profitable. Beyond the required facilities, time on TV is going to make worker popularity jump at rates far higher than your revenue produces. I would advise not to get a TV deal until you have a bankroll of 2-3 years of revenue (not PROFIT, revenue) to absorb the costs involved with running at a more frequent schedule. This way you don't run the risk of going into debt after a couple of months of losses.

Self points out several things that stand out. First off, when you're insignificant or tiny, you don't need road agents. Have one of your vet wrestlers pull double duty (wrestling and RAing). You're paying for them to appear anyway! Good road agents are typically EXPENSIVE, so cutting that can save you tons. When I'm playing from the ground up, I usually have my user character work as RA. Also, you don't need an announce team if the show isn't being broadcast. One other thing to keep in mind is that there's no such thing as a bad match at Insig/Tiny since pretty much anything will raise your popularity. You're not likely to get any 5-star classics from people making $20 a show, after all.

Oh yeah and NO TAG TEAMS. Self's example would suggest 5 1v1 matches per show and that's good (I'd go as low as 3 matches per show since I've been to several indie shows that filled the rest with angles to hype those three matches). Tag teams shouldn't be added until Small (at the earliest) because their cost is prohibitive when you don't NEED them. If you have 4 people that cost you $100 per show, why put them in one match when you can put them in two and get greater value?

Last thing, don't worry about developing talent. That's a rich man's game. Just get the ratings you need from the also-rans and never-weres you have access to and keep on truckin'. I'd also limit size in order to avoid unexpected jumps in size (and expenses!) and progress slowly. Slow and steady wins the race or something. Don't sit there forever but keep an eye on your popularity and move up when you're ready for it. Sucks to be making say $100 per show and then jump up and immediately be losing $500 per show without any ridiculous expenditures on your part.

  16. QAW July 2021

I have Boss Man Brayfield on the roster with nothing to do (Ava & Lily don't need a manager). So I made him the General Manager on my B-show and essentially turned him into Teddy Long. :p Show opens with a schmozz and Boss Man comes out and makes a tag team match (playa!). And to punish midcard heels, he makes them go one-on-one with the Mayan Mauler, Ursula Saez. Not quite THE UNDERTAKER but at Middleweight, she's the biggest babyface on the roster so....

  17. Probably a dumb question - but what affects a worker's merchandise sales?

E.g I have a couple of workers who have nearly identical stats in terms of popularity and star quality, but one of them is in the top 3 in terms of merch sales and the other is number 10 in merch sales.

From what I've seen, it's not just popularity and star quality. Recent fortunes also factors in to some degree. It's the only way I can explain Electric Dreamer jumping from #9 merch seller to #2 when she has less pop and star quality than the people at #3-6. She's been on a tear in the tag ranks (undefeated in 13 matches while defending the alliance's trios title) while the people "above" her have suffered losses in that time.
