The new version is potentially still a full 12 months away yet. That's like picking up a copy of FIFA, then saying it's hard to get motivated to do anything in it because they'll just release another one next year.
That's completely up to you - you need to figure out why you're not motivated to continue, and work from there.
You mention "starting new saves, sorting a company out to my standards"...but is there a commonality between the companies you're choosing? If you're always going with WWF/E, WCW, TNA and other 'big' American feds, maybe try putting yourself out of your comfort zone and try building up a smaller fed in Mexico or the UK? Self-imposed challenges, as others have suggested, are another way of introducing something new to the table to try and spice things up a little.
Way back in the EWR days, I tended to stick pretty religiously to playing as WWF/E because it was what I was most familiar with...but I always ended up hiring and firing the same people - bring in AJ Styles, Chris Daniels, CM Punk and so on while dumping the likes of the Big Show and Mark Henry at the earliest opportunity, and so the games I played could end up playing out pretty similarly to each other. If I got bored of doing the same old stuff over and over, I'd make a backyard fed with no cash and run it for a little while just so I was getting a different experience. At the bottom of the ladder I wouldn't be able to attract the best talents that I gleefully gobbled up as the WWE and would have to make do with whatever crumbs I could get and I couldn't afford to run with a bloated roster, so it forced me to look at other workers and to play in a totally different way to playing as WWE.
