Still carrying that large briefcase with $50,000 inside, Heenan teased the Binghamton crowd by pretending to nearly hand it over to some ringside fans, but quickly pulled it back. Big John Studd and Ken Patera held the ropes open for their manager as Heenan grabbed a microphone and entered the ring. The doors quickly shut on the vehicle as the crowd gathered backstage shouts at the driver to get out of there as quick as it can. Shortly after the ambulance peels out, Hulk Hogan frantically runs onto the scene as Gene Okerlund, who was standing by the frenzy backstage, approaches the world champ. 4. Saturday, Wk 2, Feb 1985 Saturday Night's Main Event The Spectrum - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Attendance: 18,369 People (SOLD OUT) TV: 5.77 [837,418 viewers] Show Rating: 81 <div style="padding: 5px; border: 5px solid #ffffff; margin:0px;background: #ffffff; max-width:80%;" ;"=""> </div> Match No. 1 <div style="padding: 5px; border: 5px solid #ff0000; margin:0px;background: #ffffff; max-width:80%;" ;"=""> Hillbilly Jim vs. Brutus Beefcake w/Luscious Johnny V w/ </div> Match No. 2 <div style="padding: 5px; border: 5px solid #ff0000; margin:0px;background: #ffffff; max-width:80%;" ;"=""> 'WWF World Tag Team Championships' The North-South Connection © vs. The U.S. Express w/Capt. Lou Albano w/ </div> <div style="padding: 5px; border: 5px solid #ff0000; margin:0px;background: #ffffff; max-width:80%;" ;"=""> Indeed, Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan and Big John Studd both made their way down to the ring with the capacity-filled Philadelphia Spectrum showering boos on the both of them. The vocal response from the 18,000-plus in attendance didn't appear to faze either Heenan or Studd as Heenan grabbed a microphone as he made his way into the ring. Studd stood in place mean mugging for the crowd as Heenan stood brandishing an impressively-sized briefcase. Heenan places the briefcase down on a pedestal that was already placed in the and pops open the contraption. Either the briefcase was filled with singles or the pot had clearly been sweetened... The commentary table is besides themselves at the news as the crowd is split - yeah, Heenan just insulted them, but that sure is a lot of money in that briefcase. The Philadelphia Spectrum erupts and leaps to their feet as the eighth wonder of the world, Andre the Giant, steps through the curtain and starts making his way down to the ring. Andre's clearly got business on his mind as his pace to the ring is direct and almost seems quicker than usual. Entering the ring, Andre steps right up to Heenan, but his path is immediately blocked by Studd, who steps right in the way. Andre shoves an arm past Studd and just manages to wrangle the microphone away from Heenan. Heenan shrugs as he takes the briefcase with him down to ringside, leaving Andre and Studd as the only two people in the ring. Studd took a step forward to one of the few men surprisingly larger than him, but then quickly hesitated and retreated a step back once Andre took a step forward to close the distance. Heenan on the outside shouted down some of the jeers calling Studd a coward from the ringside fans as he encouraged Studd to step forward yet again. Studd heeded the words of his manager and stepped forth again - this time with his arms raised. Andre stared down Studd - eyeballing him to see if he was about to make another retreat again - and walked forward to pick him up. Just as Andre was able to grab a hold of the big man, Studd squirmed and backed up again as the chorus of boos from the 18,000 strong intensified. Studd protested something to Heenan as the ringside cameras were having trouble picking up just what his complaint was. After a brief conference, Studd returned to the center of the ring as he slowly raised his arms again to give Andre a chance. Another few moments of evaluation from the Frenchman passed again as he stepped forward and got in position to pick up Big John. In one clean movement, Andre got one leg of Studd's in the air, but then... Heenan Family member Ken Patera slid into the ring from behind Andre and clubbed him over the back with a double axe handle. The shot to the upper back prompted Andre to release a hold on Studd as suddenly he found himself attacked from both sides by both members of Heenan Family. Heenan was having himself a jolly time on the outside as he brandished that briefcase for the camera as Andre was beaten down to one knee and then slammed face-first into the canvas. Patera raised Studd's arm as Studd posed with a boot on the back of the downed giant to end the segment. RATING: 76 </div> Match No. 3 <div style="padding: 5px; border: 5px solid #ff0000; margin:0px;background: #ffffff; max-width:80%;" ;"=""> 'WWF Intercontinental Championship' Greg Valentine © vs. Junkyard Dog After the post-match arm raising, Valentine posed with the Intercontinental Championship for a few brief moments before placing the belt down and eyeing the still downed Junkyard Dog. A sadistic smile came over Valentine's face as he shoved the referee out of the way and immediately applied yet another Figure-Four Leglock onto JYD. The Hammer was well on his way to putting yet another wrestler on the shelf with his signature submission hold, but... Tito Santana sprinted out from the back to make the save! The man who Valentine put out of action for five months is officially back and clearly in fighting shape as he pried Valentine off of JYD, laid in a couple shots on the Intercontinental Champion, then clotheslined him over the top rope. Tito was quick to check on the downed Junkyard Dog in the middle of the ring as Valentine was quick to make a hasty retreat to the back. RATING: 71 </div> Match No. 4 <div style="padding: 5px; border: 5px solid #ff0000; margin:0px;background: #ffffff; max-width:80%;" ;"=""> Jimmy Snuka vs. Cowboy Bob Orton </div> <div style="padding: 5px; border: 5px solid #ff0000; margin:0px;background: #ffffff; max-width:80%;" ;"=""> With The Piper's Pit set already set up by the stage entrance, Roddy Piper gets right to it as he walks onto set and is soaking up all of the boos showered down upon him with glee. He hams it up for the Philadelphia crowd - prompting them to intensify their jeers against him. The crowd erupts as the man himself emerges from behind the curtain to stand on the Piper's Pit set. He warily keeps his distance from Piper as he eyeballs him from across the set. He then slowly closes the distance as he stands (and refuses to take a seat offered by Piper) about three feet away from the show's host. Staring a bullet through Piper's head, Mr. T speaks into Piper's microphone. Mr. T doesn't flinch at all at the remark, something that comes to the surprise of Piper. A wicked scowl forms over Piper's mouth as he clearly starts to turn red. He closes the gap to Mr. T and walks right up to his face with Mr. T refusing to budge an inch for Piper. The scowl remains on Piper's face as the two men continue to stare each other down. But, Mr. T is then quickly dropped by the glass of water Piper presented earlier getting smashed across his temple. Shards of glass fly across the set as officials and Hollywood agent-looking types quickly separate the two men as Piper held his hands up as he walked towards the camera shouting the words 'He made me do it! I'm telling you he made me do it!' 5. So. It's been awhile. But, I've gotten extremely nostalgic for this era and save over the past several weeks and decided to try reviving it. I had the save booked through Wrestlemania (and have the show notes from each), but in diary I only got through the first month or so. Given that it shouldn't be too hard to play through a new save with everything booked the exact same as it happened in the previous one, I'm giving it another go. Saturday Night's Main Event #1 coming soon.

  12. <div style="padding: 5px; border: 5px solid #ffffff; margin:0px;background: #ffffff; max-width:80%;" ;"="">Created by Japanese legend Sadaharo Jimbo in 1996, PGHW had a meteoric rise to prominence thanks to the amazing matches that the 'golden generation' wrestlers like Miwa, Tatsuko, Mushashibo, Hoshino and Inukai pumped out on a monthly basis for over a decade. The intense style that made the matches so watchable proved to be a double-edged sword though, as their stars fell away to injury one by one. Jimbo retired in 2014 and handed over power to his protege Nobuatsu Tatsuko, who unfortunately has been unable to stop the rot; with the old stars all retired and few new stars stepping up to replace them, PGHW has been in a steep decline for a while now. Whether Tatsuko can turn them around remains to be seen. -Adam Ryland </div> * * * * * * * * <div style="padding: 5px; border: 5px solid #ffffff; margin:0px;background: #ffffff; max-width:80%;" ;"="">AUTHOR'S NOTE: Little bit of 'outside of the story' backstory here. So, did a windows reboot a couple weeks ago and - me being me - forgot to back up my WWF 1985 save. So, I've decided to venture into the Cornellverse with my favorite company in the game - Pride Glory Honor Wrestling. Given I've slacked a bit when it came to doing a weekly show like most western-based promotions, I feel doing a Japanese promotion again jives with my posting frequency where you'll have a big show with the occasional major 'Road To' show. Anyways, no fancy backstory diving into the mind of Shuji Inukai or Nobuatso Tatsuko here. Just a straight up PGHW playthrough. </div>
  13. I generally never touch the C-Verse but I've fallen in love with playing as PGHW. I'm about to start the 2020 Night of HONOUR tour and thus far here's what I've got going on... *Glory Crown/New Three Pillars* I've had Ugaki take the title from Jimbo after winning Elite Series and successfully defending his title shot against Kitoaji. Jimbo successfully defended the Glory Crown against Kwakami leading into his clash with Ugaki. 40-minute clash went to Ugaki, who has since defended the belt against Matsuki and Kobe in successive months. Kawashima issued a challenge after Ugaki's defense against Kobe for Night of HONOUR. Going to have Ugaki retain there and I expect to keep the belt on him all the way past Elite Series 2021. Meanwhile, Jimbo I'm having go through a bit of a 'lost' phase where he's full of self-doubt on how he couldn't hang with Ugaki in the ring. A shock loss to BISON Yano at Night of WARRIORS didn't help anything for his mindset as well. Just managed to scoop up Yasuhiko Taira from BHOTWG on a one-year exclusive as they're letting him go as they feel they can't get much out of him at 42... I'm going to have him debut and face Jimbo at Night of HONOUR, where Jimbo'll go over. *Glory Tag Crown* BHOTWG scooped up Brute Kikuchi pretty quick into the save, so I needed to get the titles off Yano and Kikichu pretty quick. Enter The Ring Generals. Waldorf and Statler grabbed the belts in January and have held them since. The two are each up to 60 pop across Japan with Waldorf actually getting a handshake deal with WLW thanks to that. Popularity was so great apparently WLW just gave him the World Level Universal Championship within the last week. Don't have an idea who I want The Generals to drop the titles to yet, but I'm going to use Waldorf's singles success to springboard him into the International Title's title picture. Which brings me to... *International/Historical Japan* While the description of the International Title describes it as filler somewhat, I'm trying to elevate it. Reaver dropped the belt in April to Magnum Kobe for the latter's first title in PGHW. Kobe's reign, however, was short-lived as I decided to put it on Elite Series runner-up Bussho Makaguchi two months later. Makaguchi has had several high-profile defenses as Kwakami and Reaver so far. Historical Japan picture's been a bit different as I had Avalanche Takano drop the title to Satou (SATO, meanwhile, is out for 13 months with a semi-severed spine.) Kobayashi's apparently been picked behind the scenes as a future face of the comapny, so he's going to go over at Night of HONOUR.
