From WrestlingIncMagazine.com
A Brave New World A new era of wrestling is readily approaching. With SWF and TCW both losing viewers and falling in size, the slot for the number one promotion in the United States is now open. With DAVE's climbing rating and popularity, they look as if this once virtually unknown promotion can actually overtake the "Big Two". With this, other smaller companies should seize this opportunity and try to expand themselves. USPW has a shot to grow as does CZCW. Canada seems to have the fiercest competition with CGC and NOTBPW as arguably the two most competitive promotions in North America. If the Stone family decides to raid the United States for talent, Canada could be the world's leader in professional wrestling. ~Bill Walsh
Damn... it happened. I knew it would sooner or later, which is kind of why I didn't have Jimmy drop the belt to him. Brandon Smith just signed a deal with SWF to go and be their "enhancement talent". I'll keep an eye on him, because I really like him and I know he will go far in this industry. I'm just upset that those spoiled brats over at SWF get to have him. We'll be at that level someday... someday...

The year was done and we had ended it with the worst show we ever put on. As I walked into Stomper's small office, I braced myself for flak from the last show. Stomper: Brian! Congrats! I rose my eyebrow and shook his hand. Stomper: Did you see? We won the most improved promotion of the year award! So we did... Stomper: How much am I paying you? Brian: Uhh... not enough. Stomper: Well good news. I want you to sign this contract extension. I'm sorry, we still can't afford to pay you much... It was ok, I was making money by selling fake merchandise at shows. Stomper: But you are more than welcome to stay with us for another year. Brian: Umm... thank you. Stomper's a weird dude...

Congrats on MIP award! Nice little fed you've got going here. AM makes a nice champ. I like Jimmy Cox as your Tri-State champ. The jury is out on ICS as champs, than again your tag division is pretty weak so this might be the kick in the pants that it needs to get going. But let me say this before I'm finished - Brady Prince is the Bomb!

I think the Tag Team Division (in ANY fed) is always the hardest. And mine pretty much sucks. Brian is going to lament upon that and more in his end of the year report. And yes. Brady Prince is awesome. Especially since I kind of signed him on a whim. I didn't even know who he was before I started this diary.

A year has come and gone. My first year, actually. And to be honest, I'm kind of happy how it went. For the most part, all my shows were good (except the last one) and I really started to enjoy working here. After seeing the year end awards given out, I decided to have my own special NYCW awards. Just for the people I've been working with. And so, I came up with the list below: Rookie of the Year Sammy The Shark It was between Casey Valentine and Sammy, but Sammy became more popular and improved his skills at a slightly higher rate than Casey. Veteran of the Year Honest Frank Pound for pound, this vet did what he had to do and then some. He always had something to teach the younger guys, and that's what we're looking for in a vet. Mr Consistency Jimmy Cox He never seems to have a bad match and he got a D- out of Coyote Dynamite. I can put him with anyone on the roster and not be afraid of a horrible outcome. Biggest Flop The Idaho Punisher I had such big plans for him. Reuniting with Rick Sanders. Taking the tag team division by storm, etc. But he's not the worker I expected him to be and the fans do NOT like him at all. Worker Who Will Be Stolen Next By SWF Hell Monkey This is a no brainer. Most Valuable Wrestler American Machine The crowd loves him, he puts on great matches, and he's the NYCW Empire champ. His ticket is going to keep rising at this rate and never fall.

A million things were going through my head. We were getting ready for Rush Hour and trying to make sure everything went perfectly. To make matters more hectic, instead of booking the Weston Gym like we always did, I decided to book us at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Queens, or as the locals called it now, The Ministry. The buzz for this show was quite high and our website's traffic was as congested as the Belt Parkway is on a Tuesday night. Mild, yet more than usual. I sighed as I sat behind my desk. I thumbed my intercom. Brian: How many people are there Fern? We moved Fern to a backstage roll... for obvious reasons. Fern: Four. Four people were waiting to talk to me personally... damn... Brian: OK. Send one in. I opened the window of my stuffy office, allowing the cool air to come rushing in. It was quite refreshing. I called the people in one by one. The first was Sam Strong's lawyer (or one of them) to work out a working agreement with United States Pro Wrestling. The second was Lee Wright who wanted to stay on board working with NYCW. I happily gave him a spot as a road agent. Third and fourth were Hell Monkey and American Machine who requested a press conference. I told them I'd see what I could do. After I sent them off, another man stepped into my office. Man: Hi Mr. Cain. I'm Mark Powers. I represent American Eagle. I lit a cigarette. Powers: My company would like to expand and get their feet wet in other ventures. I pulled the ashtray closer to me. Powers: We would like to set up a business relationship with New York City Wrestling. Brian: OK... what exactly do you want? Powers: Our terms are such. We will assist you in paying for up to 25% of your events IF we are allowed to advertise at said events, our name "American Eagle" is mentioned at least twice per event and if you would be so kind and loan us a wrestler for a promotion this month. Damn, 25% could help... we're turning a profit, but not enough. Brian: Which worker? Powers: Your choice. Brian: How long? Powers: 3 months. What can I say. I hate them and their clothes, but I can't be choosy. Brian: Deal. This was going to be very interesting...
