DEW... Another Try

Out of topic: I know I have a scrapped diray a few pages back, but I lost most of the stuff that I was going to use for it, and I didnt really like where it was going. So I am starting over. I like this better anyway. Two years ago I had an idea. A wrestling promotion based purely on womens wrestling. Granted it had been done before time and time again, mine was going to be different. I wasn't sure how, but it was going to be one way or the other. One week after that the idea slowly began to fade away. Within three weeks the idea was only a mere memory. At that point I had no idea what the next two years would hold in store for me. I had no intention of forming a promotion until I visited a promotion touring the Virginia area. I found an advertisement over the Internet offering the next best thing in wrestling. Of course with my work schedule at the time the only show I could make it to was a venue in Roanoke. Well the next best thing in wrestling was in reality the same old thing in wrestling. There was decent talent. Most were young and poorly trained. Few could actually hold a microphone, let alone use it. The locals seemed impressed, but only because a few of the popular workers from the small promotion nearby were invited to join them in the ring. There was one worker who stood out. She was tall, leggy and blonde. She billed herself as Kirsten Von Brown. All of a sudden everything I had imagined came back to me. "She would fit nicely." I told myself. She had decent ring skills, and was one of the few who was good with a microphone. She faced an opponent several years older than she was. It was obvious that Kirsten was more talented than the other, Kirsten was being held back in the ring. Her opponent felt like she was rushed into the ring, and Kirsten was being forced to cover the flaws of someone who needed far more experience before she stepped foot in the ring. Later I found out that she was the wife of the owner of the promotion. I guess that explains why Kirsten lost to the woman. There is nothing like a little family politics to get ahead in the business. But from what I understand it a common occurrence. The idea began to fade away again as the night progressed. It wasn't until the next morning that the wheels of fate began to spin in my favor. On my way out of town I decided to stop at the local star bucks to get a little energy for the two hour ride home. Low and behold standing in line in front of me was Kirsten Von Brown. I would have noticed her sooner but the back side of her is quite a view. It wasn't until she turned around and caught me staring, that I realized that it was her. With a convincing apology we were talking. A few minutes later we were sitting. And after that it was planing. It turns out that she was tired of stepping in the ring every week to be used as fodder for a promotion that didn't recognize her talent. And it turns out that we both had ideas about what we would like about a wrestling promotion. After several hours of talking, and several cups of coffee, phone numbers were exchanged, and I was on my way. "Could I really do this?" Within the next month we talked several times over the phone discussing plans and arrangements. We would form a promotion to highlight the best of womens wrestling. We would have the best wrestlers with the best looks. But lets face it. Most women who step in the ring lack the skills to get them over. Its the look that does the job for them, which is usual. Thats what most of them are acustom to. So how could we settle this. How could we turn a buch of talentless female workers into something that can actually pass for a legitimate female wrestler. We train them. Thats when I was introduced to Nikki Rox and Amber Hunter. Kirsten had worked with both of them before, and i was invited to see them in action. Compared to most of the female workers that I have ever seen, they were great. Low and behold they were tired of being used as eye candy for middle aged men who are lacking at home. It would be no different with me, but they would be the focal point of the show. After a couple of meetings. they were on board. I had my trainers. After that it was time to find the resources to put this together. Resources meaning money. My credit was so so , just not enough to get what I needed. After several months of dealing with the government I learned about small business loans that the government gives to individuals who possess the drive to succeed. Of course the drive that is needed is shadowed by a 22% interest rate. While Kirsten handled finding a venue to host our shows in, I was responsible for finding the talent. The next three months involved me traveling up and down the east coast looking for the talent we need to pull this off. I saw more shows in person than I had seen on television within the past year. There was also a few strip club visits that can remain off of the record as far as I am concerned. Actually in my opinion a few is closely liked to twenty or so. It was all for the business. Show after show, contract after contract. I finally had enough to book our first show. But they weren't ready and neither was I. We had a four hundred thousand dollar loan to put this thing together. I had already realized that I would have to pay these girls for training, acting lessons and room and board. Kirsten had already found a building for us to host our shows. It would only cost close to one hundred thousand dollars to transform it into something that actually looks like an arena. The next year felt like a blur. The girls improved. We had a small arena to host our shows. Everything lead up to January 4th 2007. Our first show.

I guess you could say that I was just a little nervous. Why wouldn't I be? Tonight I would know if two years worth of effort would pay off. The training, the acting lessons, and the money. If tonight wasn't successful, they would all be for nothing. Its not like I would close up shop for having a bad first night. But I am not sure how far my money will stretch me. I am also not sure how I will pay it all back if this doesn't work. The dark matches were already underway, the workers were briefed on tonights card, and Kirsten Von Brown, the chairman was about to step through the cheap wal-mart curtains to greet the crowd for the first time. I guess its show time. The first segment was the introduction. Kirsten Von Brown came out to welcome the fans. She announced the formation of the DEW World Championship, and the tournament that eight ladies will have to face off in gain it. They seemed to like her. But looking over my announce table at the fans in here, I can see why. All of them are middle aged men. I guess they are expecting to see women jumping around topless in pudding and jello. Finally music started playing which meant it was time for the first ever match in the history of DEW. Brandi Belle vs. Genesis I don't think I could have asked for a better opening match, Brandi and Genesis had great chemistry. The crowd actually got into it. Genesis ended the match after 6:55 with her finishing move the Evolution Lock. All in all, a solid opening match. Lets see, whats next. Where is that damn list. Ah, got it. A backstage hype. I hope that we got everything working correctly, or its going to be a blank image on the tron. It better work. That damn thing was expensive. Probably too expensive. Montel Wilson was a former wrestler who was sidelined with a knee injury. He made a transformation to a manager after he hung up the tights. Hes not bad. He can talk which all I really need from him anyway. He hyped the match between his client Larissa Grey and Amber Hunter. It was an okay segment. Nothing to special. The crowd felt the same way. Shortly after that Nevada Valkyrie came to ringside with a basket of T-shirts. We had them made up for the crowd. Free gifts for the first crowd in DEW history. granted we took a loss on the production price, but it might just bring a few fans in with the advertising. She threw them into the crowd, and they liked it. Actually they liked her. Who wouldn't like a woman walking around in a bikini tossing out free T-shirts-shirts. Music hit the loudspeakers which meant it was time for the last match of the evening. Larissa Grey vs Amber Hunter If I could categorize this match with one word it would be, disaster. Larissa Grey was completely off of her game. And to top it all off, an onion and chocolate have better chemistry than they do in the ring. The crowd hated it. Several of them actually got up and left. All in all, I'm not to happy. Amber Hunter gives Larissa Grey a stiff elbow. Well the first show is done. Two years worth of work for 13 people. Hopefully, it will improve. OFF TOPIC: I am looking for honest feedback, so please tell me what you think.

You're joking with the 13 people though, right? I can see more than that around the ring in the photo from the event!
Not much I can do about that. Its just the way the prop is set up. Its more or less a background, not individual figures.

You know... ... I like this! Good story, great premise, good writing, excellent graphics. I like it a lot. Nicely done!
... Its just the way the prop is set up. Its more or less a background, not individual figures...
Sounds like you do your own 3D work. I'm jealous. I've been looking to do 3D work for a while now, but haven't been able to for a variety of reasons. Love the opening "advert" graphics and such. Nicely set up and laid out. Very nice, professional appearance. Anyway, great job! I'll be watching.

Look around the render post in the mod forum. Some good info there. I have been using it for a few years and I have a nice collection of props, clothing, hair, etc.. to use. It can get pricey when you start using top quality stuff, but it just takes alot of time and patience.

ur first Ladies Night Out can be considered a bust. Kirsten called it normal. She said that will be slow until we get our product out there. I call it a lack of proper advertising. Flyers will only do so much. T-Shirts rely on people wearing them. What we need is a way to meet people face to face. Show them what we are about. A way for us to come to them, without them coming to us. The following Saturday we set up shop outside of the local Wal-Mart. All of the girls were in full dress. We handed out flyers, T-shirts and pamphlets telling people what we are about. It was also a good way for people to find out who these ladies really were. The DEW World Championship tournament started last week. With half of the first brackets down it was time to start the second half. We had a good lineup tonight. Nikki Rox and Rebecca Neal would appear in the ring. Both are solid performers. Hopefully it will be a good turn out and a good show. God knows we need both. The night started off with me. I hyped the upcoming match between Nikki Rox and Cutlass. But needless to say, these people didn't come here to see me. Nikki Rox's entrance music hit the arena and she came down to ringside. She hyped her upcoming match with cutlass using her catch phrase "Theres nothing you can do when Nikki Rox on you." I don't think the fans got into it that much. Maybe with a little more hype she will gain a small following. Nikki Rox vs Cutlass After Nikki finished her promo, Cutlass came down to ringside and the match started. Cutlass dominated most of the match keeping Nikki Rox off balance with an arsenal of high flying moves and quick attacks. She pushed Nikki to the brim until Nikki caught her on the top ropes. They moved outside and Nikki punished Cutlass with devastating ringside attacks. Once in the ring Nikki finished her off with the Rox Spot in 8:42 Cutlass and Nikki Rox lock up at the start of the match. and After the match the tron kicks to life to show Rebecca Neal and Nevada Valkyrie arguing about who is going to kick whose ass. They agree to settle in the ring and they both walk off. Rebecca Dominated the entire match purposely toying with Nevada. On several occasions she clearly had the win and stood up while she had the pin. The crowd reacted to this match pretty well. Eventually Rebecca hit the Becca Bomb and pined for the win in 10:02 and With Nevada Valkyire on the ground, Rebecca continues her assault until other workers appear from the back to pull her off. Well the first round of the tournament was over with. The second round begins tonight. I am hoping for a good night. it should be since only the better, more experienced workers are working tonight. The tournament storyline is drawing decent heat, and it should draw a little more before our first big event on Sunday. The night started off with Kirsten Von Brown coming down to ringside. She announced that this Sunday was the first big event in DEW history. Road to Retribution. She also stated that since it was our first big event, that the main event should be just as big. She stated that the two finalist of the tournament would be fighting in a steel cage Sunday night. After Kirsten left the ring Genesis came to the ring and grabbed a mic. She claimed that she was the pinnacle of evolution and that she was prepared to prove it in the ring tonight. She ordered Amber Hunter to come to ringside and start the match. Amber Hunter vs Genesis After Genesis made her little speech, Amber Hunters entrance music started to play as she came out and got in the ring. The match went back and forth several times. Toward the end Amber Hunter gained the upper hand and quickly worked Genesis into the mat. With an irish whip into the turnbuckle, Amber Hunter tried to follow up with a splash, but just as she hit Genesis pulled the ref in the way, and he went down cold. Genesis quickly grabbed a chair and disposed of Amber Hunter. The referee woke to find Genesis with the pin and made the three count. Nikki rox looks worse for wear after the attack by Rebecca Neal. Rebecca dominated the entire match constantly beating down Nikki Rox. It seemed like Rebecca Neal was going to be the victor until she got over-confident and went outside to grab a chair. As she entered the ring she placed the chair on the canvas and set up for the Becca Bomb. With a sudden turn of events, Nikki reversed the move into the Rox Shot, and covered Rebecca for the pin. Victor: Nikki Rox After the match Nikki Rox celebrated in the ring while Rebecca Neal was laid out in the ring. We had two solid matches which is what we needed before we went into our first big event.
