I’m Joey Styles along side my great colour man: Tazz! Tazz: Hey folks, what a rocket buster we have tonight, just five days away from WWE Unforgiven! Styles: Yes Tazz, what a Big, Big, BIG! Show Unforgiven is turning out to be and it will be even bigger once Shane McMahon announces John Morrison’s opponent for the ECW World title. **Shane McMahon’s music cuts off our commentary team right on cue as the ECW GM makes his way to the ring** Shane: Ladies and Gentlemen, WWE Unforgiven is this Sunday and ECW needs a championship match up. Now, I’ve looked at the stats and even chatted with some of the fans to see who would be the most worthy candidate. The number one contender for the ECW title is… **Shane O Mac is interrupted by the music of new ECW recruit Santino Marella** Marella: Signore McMahon, You need not worry about-a announcing Santino Marella as the number one contender, perché I will do the honours for you! Styles: What?! Marella: So ECW fans, I’m proud-a to announce the new numero uno is: ME! Santino Marella. Shane: Santino, let me say your not the number one contender for the ECW title. Marella: Why Not?! This is an outrage! Shane: Why Not?? Because frankly… you suck! **Crowd Pop** but however I’m a fair man, if you can beat your opponent tonight…then you can face Elijah Burke next week for the ECW Television title. Styles: Wow, if Santino Marella can beat Marcus Cor Von tonight he will earn a shot at the TV title! Tazz: Hopefully he loses and Cor Von gets the shot, I hate Santino Macaroni! **Marella looks annoyed, but he just shakes his head and walks to the backstage area.** Shane: Now before I was rudely interrupted. The #1 contender for the ECW World title will be…C…M…Punk! **The crowd goes nuts at the news** Styles: What a great decision by our General Manager Shane McMahon! Tazz: No doubt, no doubt Joey. It makes me look forward to Unforgiven even more than before. Kevin Thorn vs. Nunzio This match starts off even with Nunzio surprising the crowd and Thorn. Soon though after being embarrassed by Nunzio one too many times, Kevin Thorn goes ballistic, turning the rest of the match into a squash. Kevin Thorn gets the win with the Crucifix Powerbomb after giving the full blooded Italian a huge beating. Your Winner: Kevin Thorn Match Duration: 8:10 Match Rating: D As Kevin Thorn stands over Nunzio a promo appears on the titantron showing a pack of poker cards falling to the ground, strangely the last four cards are clearly visible…all the Ace of Spades! Leaving Thorn and the commentary team are both left wondering what it was all about as ECW goes to the break. [IMG]http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z105/JobberJDH/smallaceofspades.jpg[/IMG] Santino Marella vs. Marcus Cor Von Marella frustrated Cor Von early on by constantly running away from the Alpha Male, as if trying to sneak a win by count out. When Cor Von finally got his hands on Santino, he made him pay for trying to dodge him by hitting a Gorilla press slam on the Italian. Cor Von controlled the rest of the match, except for a brief period after a cheap eye rake from Santino led to Cor Von receiving a barrage of MMA style kicks. The Alpha Male regained control by hitting a short arm clothesline before hitting the Alpha bomb on Santino followed by the Pounce for the 1...2...3. Your Winner: Marcus Cor Von Match Duration: 7:56 Match Rating: C+ After the break the camera is in the parking lot where the Miz is going to his car after his dark match against Matt Striker, when he hears a voice call out to him. As he turns his head Mizanin is hit by a stiff clothesline from The Big V, before receiving a barrage of punches from Striker’s teachers pet. Big V power slams the Miz on the ground before being called off by a smug Striker. Striker: You thought I’d let you get away with a surprise victory over me in the pre show? Well you should know the teacher always makes sure that brats are punished! Big V and Striker walk off as the Miz writhes around in pain on the ground as a few referees come to his aid. Masato Tanaka vs. Elijah Burke Before this match a short replay of Boogeyman’s threatening comments towards Elijah Burke last week aired. It looked like it may have been playing on his mind in the beginning of the match, which allowed Tanaka to get the advantage on the Television champ to the delight of the crowd. However about halfway though Burke was able to shake off his fear, but wasn’t able to shake off Tanaka, who was able to match Burke move for move. Unfortunately Tanaka mistimed a clothesline and Burke was able to get the roll up and his feet on the ropes, for the tainted 1...2..3 in a match that proved be the best of the night. Your Winner: Elijah Burke Match Duration: 7:48 Match Rating: B As Elijah Burke grabs his TV title from the referee the Boogeyman appears on the big screen. After a brief pause, the Boogeyman breaks into an insane laugh before smashing a clock over his head and proclaiming: I’m the Boogeyman…and I’m coming to get ya! Elijah Burke looks scared and hugs the TV title to his chest before running away through the crowd. When ECW on Sci Fi comes back from the break Brooke is backstage with number one contender: CM Punk. Brooke: CM Punk, earlier tonight Shane McMahon announced you as the number one contender for the ECW title at Unforgiven, you thoughts? CM Punk: Brooke, I feel great. I’ve busted my ass, trained hard and now I get another shot at the gold. This is yet another reason why I’m straight edge, because it allows me to be at my best 24/7, unlike my opponent John Morrison. Brooke: So your saying that burning the candle at both ends will lead to the downfall of the ECW champion? CM Punk: You could say that, but I also believe that I’ve got superior wrestling ability than John Morrison and Sunday night at Unforgiven I promise that I will be walking out the NEW ECW Champion! John Morrison vs. Tommy Dreamer John Morrison started this match as the hot favourite after Dreamer’s Hardcore match on Raw last night, and the Tuesday Night Delight looked to end it early by working on Dreamer’s bandaged ribs. Soon however Morrison got frustrated with not being able to get the three count on Dreamer, (who was resilient as ever ) allowing him back into the contest. The match then went back and forth for a little before Morrison was able to gain control by Irish whipping Dreamer into the turnbuckle further injuring his ribs. The ECW Champ then hit an inverted DDT before executing the Corkscrew Neckbreaker for the 1...2...3. Smackdown opens up with highlights of the previous weeks show, highlighting the matches involving Chris Jericho and Kane, who will meet in tonight’s main event. Michael Cole: Hi everybody, I’m Michael Cole here at ringside with my broadcast colleague John “Bradshaw” Layfield. JBL: That’s former WWE Champion: John “Bradshaw” Layfield, Michael and don‘t forget it. Cole: I know that John, and I also remember that John Cena beat you for the WWE Title. JBL: Don’t remind me Cole, or I’ll remind you of your run in with a former WWE superstar named Heidenreich! Cole: **Completely ignoring that last comment** What a great Unforgiven PPV we have in store for our fans, and tonight we will see who the final man is in the World Heavyweight Title match! JBL: Either “The Big Red Machine” Kane or the newly returned “Y2J” Chris Jericho, and I’ve gotta say both guys would be a great addition to the match. Mr. McMahon’s music interrupts the commentators as he comes down to ringside with his loyal assistant Coach Coach: Ladies and Gentleman, Please direct your attention to Mr. McMahon. **crowd direct their boos toward Mr. McMahon** Mr. McMahon: Thank you Coach. I came out here tonight to announce an exciting new contest, a contest voted on by the fans and a contest that unlike the Diva Search WILL actually mean something to the WWE’s future. I think it’s fair to say that Tough Enough didn’t work, I believe we need to have a contest involving people passionate about wrestling, not people passionate about money. In saying that the WWE has a fantastic developmental system which has some of the finest young talents in the business today. So I thought: Why not have a contest where YOU, the WWE fans vote on which talent from our development system that you feel deserving of a full time contract with the WWE. Starting tonight after the show WWE.com will have the names of 10 developmental workers who will be eligible for your votes, with two workers being eliminated each week until we get to the final two. What happens to the final two you ask? they get to face off one on one LIVE on Raw with the winner getting the contract. Deuce totally dominates the “Special one” hitting a combo of power moves before Domino enters the ring and the Tag Champs hit the Crack ’em in the mouth with the help of a referee distraction from Cherry. Kristal: Jamie, I heard you want to say something in regards to Super Crazy. Noble: Yeah I do. Super Crazy, we’ve had a good run of matches lately and I think we should make this into a best of five series. Now I know I’m up 2 wins to 1, but I’m going to make this interesting by putting up my Cruiserweight Title as an incentive for you. I’ll be lookin’ forward to your answer. Kristal: Wow. I hope Super Crazy accepts, Back to you guys. Cole: Thanks Kristal, what a match that would be. I’m betting Super Crazy will agree to the best of five series. J.B.L: No question about it Cole, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the fourth match next week on Smackdown, so that Unforgiven will be the decider.”
Super Crazy vs. Jamie Noble Best of five series for the WWE Cruiserweight Title. This match was for the WWE Cruiserweight Title as an incentive for the Insane Luchadore to make this exciting series into a best of five. Super Crazy started off with some high tempo offence that had Noble on the back foot and probably wishing he didn’t make the challenge. However Super Crazy went up top once to often and Noble was able to reverse the splash into a power slam that regained him control of the match. The last part of the match turned into a decent mat wrestling contest, which ended rather abruptly with Super Crazy scoring a surprise roll up after Noble missed a clothesline attempt to level the series at 2 all. Super Crazy wins his first gold in a major promotion since 2000. The match did however get more exciting when Shelton Benjamin decided to show of his aerial abilities, hitting a cross body from the top rope on Palumbo before following up with a T-Bone/ Moonsault combo on the legal man Moore which was enough to get the 1...2...3. This was a fast paced match with lots of back and forth action and good in ring psychology that had the fans on the edge of their seats. Halfway through the match Chavo Guerrero decided to make his way to ringside and joining Michael Cole and JBL on commentary, which threw both Mysterio and Mistico. The match continued for a few more minutes with both competitors keeping an eye on Chavo until, Mistico hit Rey with a running Bulldog and went to the top rope: Cole: Mistico going up top here, waiting for Mysterio to get to his feet… JBL: Rey could be in a lot of trouble here. After hitting a body press slam and the Polish hammer, Masters puts Strong in the Masterlock…..the referee checks on Strong…ring the bell this match is done! But Masters doesn’t break the hold, he just keeps putting on more pressure and yelling: See Kane, this will be you next time we meet! Flair and Hardy took each other to the limit with Naitch using his cunning and Matt using his mix of ground and aerial moves to keep the result of the match in the balance right until the end. Flair for some reason attempts to hit a German Suplex but Hardy is able to reverse it into the Twist of Fate! 1...2...3! Matt Hardy gets the win, but instead of celebrating he helps Flair to his feet before raising Flair’s hand and thanking him for the match. To show there is no ill feeling between the two Matt then offers his hand, which Flair accepts. Both workers get to showcase their best moves for the Florida crowd with a lot of spine busters, power moves and brawling that excites the fans. The match opens up a bit in Batista’s favour when Henry mistimes a splash attempt and eats turnbuckle, allowing “Big Dave” to hit the spine buster followed by the spear to get the win over the “World’s strongest man” Your Winner: Batista Match Duration: 9:50 Match Rating: B+ As Batista celebrates, Khali appears on the titantron and begins talking in his native tongue. Ranjin Singh begins to translate: This Sunday Batista, The Great Khali will wipe the floor with you and the other opponent even if it is Kane. It still doesn’t stop him from hitting his trademark sidewalk slam on Y2J before hitting a leg drop followed by a few stomps for good measure. Later on Y2J is able to get back into the match hitting the lionsault and getting a two count on the Big Red Machine leading to an argument between Jericho and referee Nick Patrick. This allows the Masterpiece to enter through the crowd before taking Tony Chimel’s chair and bending it over Kane’s head causing him to bleed, and as if it’s all scripted Masters exit’s the ring and the referee turns around. Y2J also sees Kane bleeding on the mat and seizes his chance 1...2...3! Masters cost Kane the win with a steel chair to the head and Jericho picked the bones for the victory.
