World Quality Wrestling (C-Verse)

Recommended Posts

2005: The wrestling industry is going downhill. Revelations about many drug related deaths have made the industry unpopular with the judiciary, and the downturn in the world economy has caused several promotions to close their doors through bankruptcy. The downturn for the industry was accelerated in early 2005, when the world's biggest promotion's owner, Richard Eisen, announced that he was being forced to file for bankruptcy, due to failed investments in other fields and that SWF would close down with immediate effect. TCW and NOTBPW took over as top dogs in North America, whilst in Japan, in early 2006, Sadaharu Jimbo, the owner of PGHW, announced that he was giving up his ownership of PGHW. Throughout 2005, PGHW had dominated the Japanese market, putting on far superior shows to everyone else, and this had lead to unhappy stars from rivals BHOTWG refusing to re-sign with their employer, hoping to be picked up by the new superpower of Japanese wrestling. Jimbo cited his reasons as that since his main rivals, Burning Hammer, were no longer challenging him as market leader, and that having effectively won his personal war with long time rival, Kaneie Komine, he was going into retirement and closing PGHW, leaving Japan with a massive hole in the wrestling industry. The final straw in the whole collapse of world wrestling was the announcement that Tommy Cornell and his wife Jennifer were splitting up, apparently caused by the TCW owner having a long running affair with BSC owner, Honey Golightly. Cornell's reputation was further sullied when Jennifer announced soon afterwards that she was pregnant with Tommy's child. ************************************ O.O.C. With the revelations about his private life beginning to interfere with business at TCW, and with the threat of an enormous divorce settlement hanging over his head, Cornell decided that remaining in the USA was no longer an option for him. Another mega-company, TCW, closed its doors in July 2006. So what did this mean for the rest of the wrestling federations in the world? NOTBPW had now become the only national company in North America, and began to dominate. Takeovers of CGC and 4C soon followed, but all was not well in the family Stone. Differences in opinion as to the direction that the promotion would take soon appeared, and rumours of major disagreements backstage between the family members soon spread via the internet, specifically between the two oldest sons, Jeremy and Dan Jr. Most of the other American companies closed down in the slump between 2004 and 2006, and in their place several new companies started to open, soon gaining a cult following. Phil Vibert moved to the west coast and started up again after the demise of DAVE, with the ambitiously titled Icons of Wrestling promotion (little plug for you there Sebsplex!! :p ), whilst Sam Strong (who never actually now got to purchase USPW) joined forces with Crippler Ray Kingman in setting up the United Wrestling Federation in the Mid Atlantic area. In Japan, a new dawn was happening as well, as Sadaharu Jimbo’s self-imposed exile ended after just 6 months. A new promotion had sprung up – Japanese Championship Wrestling Association, owned by Eisaku Hoshino. With his connections, he hand picked the cream of Japanese wrestling, and when former WEXXV owner Ryu Kajaharu approached Sadaharu Jimbo about forming a rival fed, Jimbo, bored with his inactivity, jumped at the chance to return to the business that he loved. And so Supreme Championship Wrestling was born. In a strange twist of fate, the men that signed for SCW were mostly former Burning Hammer alumni, including their previously dominant World Champion, Hiraoki Nakasawa. Tommy Cornell, meanwhile, had returned to the UK, and set up a company there to take on the world; a company so different from TCW and so different from his normal style. Border Line Wrestling was hardcore, so hardcore that even Phil Vibert looked down on them as crazy. As far as he was concerned, Tommy was now fighting the whole world – and blood would be spilled! And so back to the Stones. Divided by, let’s be honest here, their greed to dominate wrestling, Dan Stone Sr, decided to allow his children to follow their hearts and choose their own destiny. He himself, alongside one son, Duane, moved to England and set up a promotion over there, Total Extreme Wrestling Federation, focusing on Sports Entertainment, with a little puro influence from Duane’s time in Japan. The youngest son, Edd, kept up his reputation as the black sheep of the family by throwing in his lot with arch enemy Richard Eisen. Eisen had recently taken over Sean McFly’s homegrown federation, Toronto-Pro, and with Edd’s selection of this path, the split in the Stone family was truly complete. Dan Jr now moved to the Great Lakes area of the USA, and alongside fellow legend, Tadiyuki Kikkawa, set up Fast Lane Wrestling Alliance. Jeremy also moved to America, and contacted Nobuatsu Tatsuko, who, given his hatred for Hoshino, had been one of the few former PGHW stars not to join JCWA. The two men combined to set up their own promotion, based in the Tri State, called KEY Wrestling, focusing on showcasing, as they put it, “World Quality Wrestling”. Thus Jeremy and Dan Jr were now business rivals and their feud began to grow legendary, refusing even to attend any family events if the other was to be present. Jeremy sent invitations to join KEY to many stars around the world, focusing on bringing in former champions with many of the (former) top promotions, in order that they might truly find out who the best of the best really was, and to show once and for all, that they really were WORLD CLASS. "Come on in, Rob. We've got a few things to talk about before you start booking KEY," said Jeremy Stone. I walked into Jeremy's office, where he was sat with Nobuatsu Tatsuko. "OK, so I've got a few things that I need you to stick to during your period as my head booker. The first one should be fairly straightforward - the ARSEHOLES (*) rate us as a cult, and you have got to keep us at that level over the next year." "No problem, Jeremy." "We haven't finished, Rob," Tatsuko butted in. "Next we don't want you signing anyone who is going to get constantly injured. Wrestling in this promotion is going to be very intense and we aren't prepared to fork out money paying people who are out of action. The third thing that we want you to do is to build up our own stars - so no signing anyone from any of the other promotions." "That's a bit steep, Nobu..." "Well actually there is a very good reason behind it," interrupted Jeremy. "You see, there has been a lot of activity behind the scenes in the last few days. My father was clearly very upset by the recent arguments in our family and with all of us going our separate ways, he has tried to get us all to make peace. This also includes trying to bring the other promotion owners into a co-operative group. In general this has worked, and so I have official working agreements from several promotions around the world, including with Dad's promotion in the UK (TEWF), Tommy Cornell's BLW in the UK, Phil Vibert's IOW, both Japanese promotions (JCWA / SCW), Sam Keith at SW and Crippler Ray Kingman at UWF. Perhaps more surprising is that George DeColt has agreed to trade us wrestlers from NLWF. In return for all these agreements, we have signed papers to stop each other stealing wrestlers. Loans are good, theft isn't. However Larry Wood over at GC and Richard Eisen at T-Pro have refused - no real surprise there, since I never got on with Richard, and I'm sure Edd has been on at him too. The one problem we have is that my brother Dan at FLWA has not only refused to co-operate with us, but has actually stated to all the other owners that he is determined to drive KEY out of business. So as far as we are concerned - you have the same goal - to destroy Dan and his promotion, although we'd rather keep that target private for now." "OK - well that sounds interesting." "We have also done a couple of initial trades on your behalf, Rob," said Nobuatsu. "Oh," I said, a little put out. "Don't worry - we've done nicely out of them. We've got three guys from TEWF - from Dad. Now the old man still has a great wrestling brain, but he has got a little shut off from the rest of the world over the past few years. Hence we have managed to 'con' him into trading us my brother Duane, Brent Hill and Randy Bumfhole. And all we had to loan back to him were Kashmir Singh, Merle O'Curle and Natsu Miyamae." "My God - how on earth did you get him to agree to that? He really has lost the plot to agree to a one sided deal like that!" "Well, although he is my dad, I've still not totally forgiven him for what happened with North of the Border last year, and I'm determined to show him that my plan for the company would have been the best. So any, ahem, 'fair' advantage I can get...." Both Jeremy and Nobu laughed, and I suddenly realised that these two men were deadly serious about dominating the wrestling world over the next few years. Guess I'd better make this work then! * Stolen unashamedly from J SILVER's USPW diary (post number 52) ( http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21524 )
Sam sighs and goes on to say "It's because the show was better than usual. You pulled in a C-, with a C match headlining the show." "I been meaning to ask you something. Where do you get these grades from anyway?" "From the Adam Ryland Statistical Evaluation Honorable Online Library Explorer System." "That's a mouthful." "That's why it's abbreviated ARSEHOLES." "So we're rated by what the ARSEHOLES think?" "Yup." "Hmm, good to know."
KEY Total Wrestling, Tues Week 1 Jan 2007 McGaw Arena, Tri State, Attendance 5000 (Sold Out!) Jason Azaria: "Welcome to everyone to the premiere of KEY Total Wrestling, live from the McGaw Arena. I'm Jason Azaria, alongside my broadcast colleagues, Ana Garcia and Rob4590. And Rob, totally off the subject of tonight's show, that really is the strangest surname that I've ever heard!" Rob4590: "Well thank you, Jason. I've never heard that before." Jason: "Now here's another little fact you might not know - one of the owners of KEY is in the ring now with something to say!" It's Jeremy Stone, dressed in a suit and tie. “Welcome to my new venture, KEY Wrestling, where the top stars from around the world will face each other to determine who is really the best wrestler. There will be no soap operas, no ridiculous stories, just proper wrestling in my company. And what better to start this new era in professional wrestling than a 4-man tournament to determine the inaugural KEY world champion. And to prove that we don’t just give people title shots because they own the company...." Jason: "Ouch, a little dig at a certain Mr Cornell there I feel..." Jeremy: "....or because they are 7 feet tall, our first semi final is between two men who are among the most talented individuals to ever step foot in an SWF ring. However, because they didn’t quite fit the stereotypical profile of an “Eisen champion”, they never got the recognition that they deserved. They are: Enforcer Roberts (a muted chorus of boos) and Angry Gilmore (the crowd pop loudly). And we aren’t going to keep big matches like this only for our PPV customers – you all get to see this tournament over the next couple of weeks, live here on TV on the Pop Network.” Rating B-. ****** Match 1: vs The Future (Steven Parker and Shooter Sean Deeley) vs Super Crazy (Insane Machine and Super Joshuya) The Future face off with Super Crazy in a low key opening bout of Total Wrestling 2007. The American crowd get behind Super Crazy as they show off all their high risk arsenal, but once Parker and Deeley ground them, the victory for the former MAW champion and the Canadian technician is never in doubt. Rating C-. Notes: Shooter Sean looked good. ****** Out comes Nobuatsu Tatsuko, who, in very fluent English, introduces himself as the other owner of KEY, along with his friend, Jeremy Stone. The crowd is a little quiet as the Japanese star talks, but they soon start roaring with approval when he announces that the second semi final will be between two of the most well known stars in America, Runaway Train and Liberty. “While they perhaps haven’t been known for their technical wrestling until now, we have always advertised this company as a place where champions can come and fight other champions, and these two men have held gold in the two biggest companies in the world for the past few years. The winner of their match will face Gilmore or Roberts next week for the KEY World Championship belt.” Rating B+. ****** Match 2: vs The Rebellion (Shimedzu and Miyamae) vs The Extreme (Big Cat Brandon and Chris Caulfield) Another USA vs Japan clash here as the local team, formerly from DAVE, The Extreme face off with former BHOTWG tag champions, the Rebellion. Once again it is the American pair that emerge victorious, eventually using their greater size and strength to overcome the all round skills of the Japanese pairing. Big Cat looked very impressive as he picked up the win. Rating C+. ****** Out comes Lobster Warrior. He gets a good reception from the crowd, dressed in his usual shellfish costume. “Well, well, well. Nothing changes does it? Everyone else gets title shots – but not me. Well I’ve had enough.” With that he rips off the lobster mask and continues. “This is the end of the joke. No more Underwater Union, no more Lobster Warrior. My name is Chris Rockwell, and I’m here to prove to everyone that I’m the real deal, and if I can’t get anyone to see past the joke of a gimmick that Richard Eisen lumbered me with, then I’ll just have to beat every champion in this company until people start taking me seriously." "So who to beat up on first? Well, I really have to start with someone from that ‘other’ company – you know – the one where the owner was the permanent world champion! And who better than one of his tag champions, the Wrestling Machine, otherwise known as Brent Hill. I hear you wanted to come and test yourself here as well as following Tommy over the pond, Brent. Bit greedy don’t you think? Well how about you come out to MY ring later on and I’ll send you straight back to the UK with a big ‘L’ on your resume?” There is a slight pause, and then Hill comes through the curtain, and accepts the challenge with a simple nod of his head. “A man of few words,” comments Jason Azaria from the announce table. “I’ve seen him wrestle, and that does his talking for him,” replies Ana Garcia. “So there we have it – another match for later tonight – Brent Hill will face the unmasked lobster, Chris Rockwell,” says Jason. Rating C. ****** Match 3: vs Squeeky McClean vs Randy Bumfhole Another of our visitors from TEWF gets a match tonight, as the young star, Randy Bumfhole takes on the veteran, Squeeky McClean. “Both men felt they weren’t getting the respect they deserved in SWF, even though both have held gold at different times,” claims Ana Garcia. It’s a good match, with Squeeky having to resort to various slightly illegal methods to bully the youngster, and he finishes things off via submission, after blatantly low blowing Randy after a ref bump. This does not go down well with the crowd, who don't like the tainted finish. Rating C+. ****** Jeremy Stone is backstage and announces that he will be appearing in one on one action next week on Total Wrestling, against his own brother, Duane Stone. With both Scout and Guide happy to mix things with the Japanese, this is a hard-hitting match, and it is slowly going the way of Team Pride, when Guide pins Kwakami from out of nowwhere, while Scout assists without the referee seeing. The crowd once again didn't want to see a cheating finish like this. Rating C+. Notes: Scout looked excellent, while Tatsuko also looked good. ****** Backstage, and we see Liberty approach Runaway Train, and wish him luck for their match. Train’s response is to slap Liberty’s hand away, and when Liberty asks him what his problem is, he nails the former TCW man with a big right hand. Liberty won’t go down without a fight, and the noise of the altercation brings out Angry Gilmore, who tries to break things up. He is closely followed by Enforcer Roberts, who uses this opportunity to get a few cheap shots in on Angry, softening him up prior to their match later. Eventually security restores order. Rating B+. ****** Match 5: vs Liberty vs Runaway Train Liberty and Runaway Train make their way to the ring, and they start brawling again even before the bell rings. Train has most of the offence, with his pure size overwhelming Liberty, but the fan favourite has several periods of control as well. Eventually, Train hits the Train Wreck on Liberty to advance to the world title match next week. Rating C+. ****** Out comes Chris Rockwell for his match with Brent Hill. The lobster costume is now replaced by blue tights, showing off his toned figure, much to the approval of the girls at ringside. He removes his wraparound shades and tells the crowd that they can call him “The Rock” and that he is the real deal and that he will now be able to prove his ability as a wrestler, rather than a comedian. Rating B-. Notes: OK, so the nickname is hardly original - so shoot me! :p ****** Match 6: vs Chris Rockwell (formerly Lobster Warrior) vs Brent Hill An excellent match between these two, with both showing off their all round ability. Back and forth it went, until the Rock hit the move formerly known as the Lobster Trap to pin the former TCW tag champion. “What will he be calling that move now that he wants no part of the lobster persona?” wonders Jason Azaria. Rating B+, Notes: Rockwell and Hill have great chemistry together in the ring. :) ****** Angry Gilmore comes to the ring. “So, Enforcer Roberts, you want to hit me from behind? Well you go ahead and do that – it only makes me more determined to beat you tonight. And then next week I get to face a man who was the glass ceiling for both me and lots of others in SWF, Runaway Train. A fine exhibition of technical wrestling, with Angry also taking to the top rope on occasions, and the commentators could never decide who they thought was going to win. Enforcer kept trying to lock in the RCT for a submission, but it was Gilmore who hit his signature move, the Anger Management, and picked up a very popular 3 count, to move forward to face the monster, Runaway Train, next week. "So how do you feel the show went, Rob?" asked Jeremy, the next day. "Well overall, it was very good. The last two matches were excellent as expected. Train v Liberty - well that wasn't entirely unexpected at how poor that was - they need a bit more work to get up to the standard we are going to aim for." "I was slightly disappointed with how predictable it all was. I had a look at our message boards, and a guy named after Chris Caulfield called all the announced matches correctly - that's not good if everyone can tell what is going to happen BEFORE the show!" "It's something that had to happen initially, Jeremy. Certain rivalries had to be set up, and this show started that rolling. Besides - you have to be somewhat predictable to show the crowd who is who, who you are pushing etc, and once they get to know that - then you can throw in a swerve or two at that point. You've got to have some predictability to make the swerves unpredictable!" "OK, I'll trust you on this one then. Anything else?" "Yeah a couple of things. I noticed that the crowd didn't like the cheating finishes last night. Can we get the ARSEHOLES to review our product and change the realism rating a little - it would be nice to be able to have the heels cheat sometimes?" "No, I'm sorry. I like it all as it is. This IS after all a wrestling promotion, not Sports Entertainment, so you will just have to deal with it." "Shame, but you're the boss. Other than that - I've signed a 6 month PPV deal with American Option, so that's good. Our first PPV will be at the end of the month - called Waterloo. Also I've signed up three young wrestlers who will debut over the next couple of weeks, and also signed four well known managers." "Managers? Why?" "Well although we ARE all about the wrestling, it still helps to have all the guys able to talk on camera about their opponents etc, and some of the wrestlers, including yourself, aren't exactly known for their sparkling wit! Hence...managers!" "Ok, ok. You are the head booker. Your call. So long as it doesn't cost me too much money! Now what have we got in store for next week's show?" "Here you go - here's the advance bookings." Good first show, but can't believe you jobbed out The Rebellion to that makeshift DAVE Team Angry Gilmore v Runaway Train (for the KEY World Title) The company wants to set out it's stall by being a company where true in-ring talent wins you the big titles, then there's no better way than crowning someone like Gilmore your first champion.....if you put it on Train you're just going to look like SWF all over again. The Extreme v The New Wave (for the KEY Tag Titles) In my opinion The Extreme shouldn't even be in this match, push The Rebellion !! Anyway I think the New Wave will win this as they are the more established team. Nobuatsu Tatsuko v Ken Shimedzu As co -owner Tatsuko is probably going to get a push early on. Jeremy Stone v Duane Stone Ditto with Jeremy Chris Rockwell v Randy Bumfhole The former Lobster Warrior seems to be getting a push with his new persona.

KEY Total Wrestling, Tues Week 2 Jan 2007 McGaw Arena, Tri State, Attendance 5000 (Sold Out!) Jason Azaria: "Welcome once again to KEY Total Wrestling, live from the McGaw Arena. I'm Jason Azaria, and once again I'm with my broadcast colleagues, Ana Garcia and Rob4590. And what a show we have for you tonight as we crown a new KEY World champion in our main event." Ana Garcia: "Not only that, but the Tag titles are up for grabs as well." Jason: "But first - we've got a very angry Enforcer Roberts in the ring right now along with his manager, The Guru. I think they have something to say!" ****** "You're damn right we've got something to say, Jason," complains the Guru. "Enforcer, here, was robbed last week by Angry Gilmore. The man never played fair in SWF, and he is still doing the same here in KEY." “What is he talking about?” exclaims Ana Garcia, “Angry won their match fair and square!” Liberty clearly has the same idea, as he comes out and tells Enforcer that if anyone was robbed last week, it was him, having been attacked before his match by his opponent, Runaway Train. Enforcer tells him to mind his own business, but Liberty refuses to be intimidated and they start pushing and shoving, before the Guru challenges Liberty to face Enforcer later tonight. Liberty accepts. And what a fantastic advert for Japanese wrestling this is, as they lay it all on the line for the American fans, who really get right into the match, despite their unfamiliarity with both men, especially Shimedzu. Many are therefore surprised by him matching the more famous Tatsuko move for move, but in the end, he just cannot quite match the former PGHW-er for intensity and the Tatsuko Blind kick earns the KEY co-owner his first victory. Rating B+ ****** Before the tag title match, we go to a short interview with the Extreme, who will face the New Wave next. Their manager, Jessie, talks about their past successes in DAVE, with Chris Caulfield being a former Unified Champion, and Big Cat Brandon having won both the tag titles and the Brass Knuckles titles in this very arena over recent years. She tells the New Wave that although her men respect their abilities, they should realize that nothing has changed here in KEY from how it was in DAVE, and that the Extreme are a cut above them still. The crowd never quite got into the match, despite Big Cat and especially Scout looking really good. Eventually it is the fluid teamwork of the New Wave that sets up the win, and therefore makes them the first KEY Tag Champions, as Scout forces Chris Caulfield to submit to the Special Force. In the brawling environment, it is Liberty who quickly gains the upper hand, but as he rolls Enforcer into the ring, Liberty forgets about the presence of the Guru, who cracks him over the head with a steel chair, allowing Enforcer to recover and he proceeds to tie Liberty up in knots with his superior groundwork for a few minutes, before slapping him into the RCT for the submission. Jeremy eventually picked up the submission victory with the devastating Stone Hold. Back and forth it goes, but it is clear that Squeeky is the better wrestler throughout, and the Stain Removal picks up a good hard-fought victory, to give him the early lead in the battle for the United States Title. Rating B+ ****** Angry Gilmore is with Jason Azaria in the ring. Jason asks him for his thoughts on tonight’s KEY World Championship Title match against Runaway Train. “Well Jason, this is the opportunity that I’ve been waiting for. I never got a world title shot in SWF because apparently I "wasn’t big enough", or was it because "the crowd wouldn’t buy someone like me beating a 7 foot monster like Runaway Train". I don't know - and right now I don't care what Richard Eisen thought. So right here tonight, I’m going to show that ‘unbeatable monster of SWF’ that real wrestling doesn’t have to be the domain of 300lb-ers.” Rating A ****** Match 6: vs Chris Rockwell vs Randy Bumfhole Chris Rockwell comes out to a slightly mixed reaction, given that he has given his crowd pleasing Lobster Warrior persona the boot, and seems to have turned into a much more selfish character here in KEY. His opponent is another visitor to KEY, and a former friend of Rockwell's at SWF, Randy Bumfhole. The two men put on a very nice match, without over-exiting the crowd, and the Rock picks up another victory over an impressive opponent. Rating B- Notes: The Rock looked good. ****** Rockwell grabs a mic and tells the crowd that for the second week running he has won his match, and that for the second week running, a title tournament has been announced, and it doesn’t feature him. “What do I have to do to get recognition for my abilities?” he asks. “Well I tell you what I’m going to do – I’m going to put the boss’ brother in his place next week. Jeremy – you beat Duane this week, and that seems to have got you into the United States Title tournament. So I’m gonna DESTROY Duane next week and prove that I should have been there as well. So Duane Stone – are you man enough to face the Rock on Total Wrestling next week?” Never one to back down from a challenge, Duane immediately comes out and accepts the challenge. ****** The Guru leads out Runaway Train for the world title match, but before Angry Gilmore can make his entrance, The Guru takes the mic and reminds everyone that Train was unstoppable in SWF, and just because it’s now a different promotion, that doesn’t mean that things are going to change tonight. “Angry – you’re still just a tag team wrestler, not a world champ!” Rating B- ****** Match 7: KEY World Title Match vs Runaway Train vs Angry Gilmore Ouch. Mean Jean Cattley and Steven Parker are somewhat known through their work with MAW, as is Insane Machine through CZCW, but Hitomaru Suzuki, Roku Sotomura and Super Joshuya still have to prove themselves here. A solid enough match, in which everyone got in a few spots, despite only running for 8 minutes. Mean Jean Cattley got the win, by hitting the Mood Swing on MAW rival Steven Parker Rating C- Notes: I chose Cattley to win – but Parker being the one chosen to be pinned (by the AI) makes things interesting. ****** The camera follows the victor, Mean Jean, backstage, where he is congratulated by some backstage staff. As he continues, a door opens suddenly and smacks him solidly in the face, flooring him and bloodying his nose. Out walks Duane Stone, ready for his match against Chris Rockwell next. He continues to the ring oblivious to Cattley sitting angrily on the floor staring after him. Rating E+ Notes: Yes I’ve done it again – after telling myself not to put Duane in angles – I go ahead and do it again this week. The two men shake hands before the match, but then it is all business as they wow the crowd with an excellent midcard match. No real surprise in the result though, as the Rock picks up his 3rd successive victory over our visitors from TEWF, once again with the now badly named, Lobster Trap. Rating B- ****** Mean Jean Cattley appears at the top of the ramp before Duane Stone can leave the ring. He is still holding a bandage to his bloody nose and tells Duane that he should really be more careful when he is in enemy territory, and that he demands revenge in the ring at the Waterloo PPV in 10 days time. Duane holds up his hands and tries to apologise, but Cattley is having none of it, so Duane eventually has to accept the challenge. Rating D- Notes: I really am a glutton for Duane in angles aren’t I? ****** Backstage there seems to be an argument going on. The Guru is standing between his clients, Runaway Train and Enforcer Roberts, who are arguing about who gets to face Angry Gilmore at Waterloo. “I reached the final of the tournament – and Gilmore fluked a win. You saw it – I dominated the whole match, and he got lucky that I lost concentration for one moment,” argues Runaway Train. “Reaching the final is irrelevant,” says Enforcer. “I beat Liberty as well last week, and I want Gilmore next.” The Guru cannot keep his two clients apart, and they start pushing and shoving until a voice is heard. “Oiii you two. Stop fighting back here. If you both want a title shot – then earn it here tonight,” says Jeremy Stone. “You get to face each other in a No 1 Contenders match later on.” Train and Enforcer look pleased with this solution, but the Guru is furious, not knowing which of his clients he should support. Rating B ****** Match 3: vs Guide vs Big Cat Brandon One half of the new tag team champions, Guide, faces off with Big Cat Brandon from their challengers now. And what a shocker of a match it is too. Their timing is totally off, and even the predictable interference from their partners, Scout and Chris Caulfield, half way through cannot save this from being a right clusterf*ck of a match. Oh you did want to know the result? Yeah, Big Cat got the win with the Pounce. Who cares? :( Rating D+ Notes: The curse of bad chemistry strikes. ****** The battle between the four men continues after the bell, as the New Wave attack the Extreme all the way up the ramp and out to the back, where Team Pride are talking tactics before Kwakami’s match against the Rebellion's Miyamae next. Scout whips Big Cat across the locker area and straight into Tatsuko and Kwakami. Unsurprisingly they take offence to this, and join in the running battle, which takes a further turn as the Rebellion come out as well and decide to take a few cheap shots against Team Pride and the Extreme. Eventually all eight men are separated by swarms of security. Rating D+ ****** Match 4: vs Akinori Kwakami vs Natsu Miyamae Once things have calmed down a little, the two legal wrestlers for our next match come to the ring. Akinori Kwakami and Natsu Miyamae are hardly household names in America, but like last week’s match between their partners, they wow the crowd with the intensity of their wrestling. Miyamae comes out victorious after pinning his PGHW rival with the Miyamae Spoiler. Rating B- ****** Jeremy Stone comes out and tells the crowd that they have seen the four Japanese in singles action over the past two shows, and at Waterloo, they will see all four in the ring together, as Team Pride face off with the Rebellion in tag action. It’s a big bump named Runaway Train. Even Enforcer Roberts can’t get a decent match out of the useless lump. Much like Angry Gilmore last week, Roberts looked superb in comparison to his opponent, and even the presence of the Guru, trying to spur both men on at ringside, failed to liven things up. Fortunately for the fans at the PPV, Enforcer picks up the win here – as if you thought I’d let Train stink up the main event of my first PPV! Rating C+ ****** Now the next segment was supposed to be the reaction of Angry Gilmore to having to face Enforcer at the PPV, but somewhere along the line, someone told Big Cat Brandon to come and talk about Enforcer. I’m confused, you’re confused, the crowd was confused, even Big Cat looked confused, but give him his due, he tried his best to make the segment halfway entertaining, even if it was a rather random couple of minutes! It features the owner, Jeremy Stone against JD Morgan. Morgan started the three man tournament last week with a loss to Squeeky McClean, and came out determined to keep his chances of winning the belt alive tonight. Like last week, the two technicians meshed seamlessly and the crowd loved every minute. Several times, one man locked in a submission move, but each time, their victim slowly fought his way to the ropes. Eventually though, someone had to win, and it was JD Morgan..............who tapped out to the Stone Hold! Jeremy and Squeeky both now have a win over JD apiece – so their match next week will decide the winner of the United States Title. Rating B+ Notes: Don't you just love good chemistry? ****** OK – so stupid booker syndrome has really hit badly this week. Squeeky gets on the mic backstage (as planned) and starts taunting Jessie, Jeremy’s manager. Engage your brain you stupid idiot! Taunt your opponent, not their manager! Doh! Rating C+ despite this error. ****** Match 7: KEY World Title Match vs Angry Gilmore vs Brent Hill Angry Gilmore makes his first World Title defence tonight, just one week after winning the belt. And if you thought his match two weeks ago with Enforcer Roberts was good – well this match against Brent Hill simply blew the roof off the McGaw Arena. This is already a major contender for MOTY, as the two men wowed the crowd for some 15 minutes with a display of wrestling that would have made both of KEY’s owners proud to have been involved in. Back and forth it went, with Hill doing especially well to keep the crowd believing that he could pull off the upset victory, but it was eventually the new champ, Gilmore, who put the challenger away with the Anger Management for a very successful first defence. "Sorry Jeremy - those were some amateur mistakes I made with the booking sheets for the show - it won't happen again!" "It better not! It was a shame really cos it was a good show. Slightly surprising that we only got a B rating from the ARSEHOLES, given the quality of the last few matches. Anyway - what have we got happening this week?"
PREVIEW KEY Total Wrestling, Week 4 Jan 2007 Angry Gilmore v Shooter Sean Deeley - a non title match as a warm up for the champ for his title defence on the Waterloo PPV.
Please tell me it's Dan Jr. and Big Smack Scott. That would be the best news ever.
OK - so the ACTUAL pair is the 2nd strangest possible combination ever! Its Raul Hughes and Teddy Powell. Dan Jr holds your midcard title (TV?) Sorry for the delay with posting the next show - real life has intruded for a few days, but I hope to have it up sometime this afternoon.

KEY Total Wrestling, Tues Week 4 Jan 2007 McGaw Arena, Tri State, Attendance 5000 (Sold Out!) Liberty opens the show standing in the ring. “Well it’s not been a good month for me has it? First I lose to Runaway Train and lose my chance at being the first KEY World Champion. Congratulations to Angry Gilmore on his win by the way. And then I get beaten by Enforcer Roberts as well. So I took a few days off, flew out to Hawaii, caught some waves, smoked some…. well actually I can’t talk about that on national TV. So anyway, now that things are all right in Liberty’s world again, peace reigns, I’m back again, and I’m gonna prove to all you doubters, that I can match up with the guys here…starting right now.” Rating B Notes: Hey, Liberty could tell the world that he murdered someone and they’d love him. Smoking something illegal – who cares man? ****** Match 1: vs Liberty v Steven Parker Liberty’s opponent is the youngster, Steven Parker, who is clearly still smarting from losing to his former MAW colleague, Mean Jean Cattley, last week. Parker takes the early initiative here against Liberty, and gets several near falls. His frustration builds at not being able to put his opponent away, and Liberty uses his experience to turn the match around and pick up the win via a Liberation Slam. Winner: Liberty Rating C ****** Team Pride (Tatsuko and Kwakami) are backstage and are talking about their upcoming match against the Rebellion at the PPV. Well at least Tatsuko is talking English, cos Kwakami doesn’t speak the lingo yet, which kinda ruins the entire segment. Oops. Guess the booker must have been on the same stuff Liberty was smoking huh? Anyway – Tatsuko goes through the standard stuff, about respecting the BHOTWG pair, but promising to make his former PGHW colleagues proud come Sunday. They then head off towards the ring for a match. Rating D- ****** Before that match starts, we cut to another backstage promo, where an angry looking Runaway Train is being hyped up by his manager, The Guru, as an unstoppable force, despite, as the announcers note, having lost in both his last two matches. Why let the facts get in the way of a good story? Rating C+ Notes: I guess the crowd didn’t really buy into it either. ****** Match 2: vs Team Pride v Super Crazy Team Pride are up against two more wrestlers who are better known in Japan, Super Joshuya and Insane Machine, known here as Super Crazy. Given that Nobu and Akinori have a PPV match later in the week and their opponents don’t, guess who wins? Yep, the star man, Tatsuko, over Joshuya with the Tatsuko Driller. Winner: Team Pride Rating C ****** Back out to the ring comes Liberty, with a big grin on his face. “It’s a good night for Liberty, man. First I pick up my first victory here in KEY, and now I’ve got to share this ring for a few minutes with three gorgeous ladies as they parade around in lovely skimpy bikinis. And here they are – first of all – Jessie! And next, it’s Dawn (the Cheerleader)! And finally – Queen Emily! Who do you want to win?” The roar from the crowd suggests a comfortable win for Jessie, which doesn’t please the other two. Rating C+ Notes: Yeah ok, this is a serious wrestling promotion, but even pure fans still don’t mind seeing a nice ass and rack occasionally! :p ****** Back to the serious stuff, as Jason, Ana and Rob talk about this weekend’s big tag title re-match, between the New Wave and the Extreme. They wonder if the New Wave can repeat their initial success over their former DAVE colleagues? Rating B- ****** Match 3: vs Scout v Chris Caulfield To keep this feud running, Chris Caulfield and Scout now face off in singles action, and thank goodness it’s a far better match than the one that Guide and Big Cat had last week. It soon turns into practically a handicap match as Guide constantly gets involved whenever possible behind the referee’s back. When he is finally spotted interfering, and ejected from ringside, the damage has already been done, and Scout picks up an equalizing singles win, forcing Caulfield to tap out to the Special Force. Winner: Scout Rating B ****** As soon as the bell rings for Scout’s win, Guide is straight back out, and the New Wave work Chris Caulfield over some more, before Big Cat Brandon belatedly makes the save before too much damage is done to his partner. Rating B- ****** Jason Azaria gets into the ring to interview the Rock. “Well tonight I’ve got a match against JD Morgan. Now you all know that Morgan was knocked out of United States Title contention last week by Jeremy Stone, so once again, I can only see this as an insult to me – everyone I face and beat, has already lost to someone in contention for a title. But despite me showing that I can beat everyone that the title holders or challengers can beat, do I get a title shot? No, of course not. Let’s all keep Chris Rockwell down, despite me being the most talented, good looking wrestler in the world.” Rating C Notes: He’s not a happy chap is he? ****** Match 4: vs Chris Rockwell v JD Morgan Wow didn’t see this one coming! Rockwell and Morgan blow the roof off the arena, with a stunner of a match. In fact, every match that JD has had so far has been superb – even if he continues his losing streak in every one! The Rock continues to pick up impressive wins, backing up his enormous ego, as his newly christened finishing move, the Rock Down, wins him another match. Winner: Chris Rockwell Rating A ****** The two co-owners of KEY are backstage together, and Tatsuko is heard wishing Jeremy Stone luck for his title match against Squeeky McClean next. It doesn’t quite match the previous match, but that may be purely because the crowd were slightly put off by the appearance of Runaway Train half way through, who took advantage of Squeeky having thrown Jeremy out of the ring, and laid into Stone with several clubbing blows. Jeremy fought on valiantly, but the damage had been done by the monster, and Squeeky picked up the win to become the NEW United States champion, with the Stain Removal. Winner (and new United States Champion): Squeeky McClean Rating B+ ****** Clutching his newly won belt, Squeeky celebrates the win, much to the crowd’s disapproval. Rating B- ****** The Guru now joins his other client, Enforcer Roberts, and he promises that Roberts will reverse the result of his previous match against Angry Gilmore, and become the new KEY World Champion at the weekend. Randy Bumfhole is making the last of his three loan appearances, as he faces off with Enforcer, and they cap everything that has gone before in this show. Bumfhole shows why he is so highly regarded as he matches the veteran move for move, and in fact proves a more rounded wrestler really. But Enforcer is clinical in the ring, and one slight mistake costs Randy, allowing Roberts to cinch in the RCT for the win. Winner: Enforcer Roberts Rating A* ****** Jeremy Stone is backstage, and he angrily announces that if Runaway Train wants to get involved in United States Title matches, then he can have a match at Waterloo against another man who seems to want that title as well – Chris Rockwell. Rating B- ****** Rob4590 has caught up with the champ backstage. Angry Gilmore mentions that he was very impressed with Enforcer tonight, but that he has beaten the older man earlier this month and he sees no reason why that should change at Waterloo. He looks straight at the camera and promises to show Enforcer exactly what is in store for him at the PPV, right now against Shooter Sean Deeley. Rating B ****** Match 7: vs Angry Gilmore v Shooter Sean Deeley And what a fine way to end the night. Shooter Sean and Angry Gilmore have good chemistry apparently, and although the result was never really in doubt in this non-title bout, Deeley showed why he was brought into KEY, as he stretched Gilmore throughout. Things became even tougher for the champ, as Enforcer tried to get his hands on Angry during the match as well, but even though he never actually succeeded in hurting Angry, the distraction nearly cost him an upset defeat. He powered back though and once he had snapped off the Anger Management, the three count was academic. Winner: Angry Gilmore Rating A ****** Immediately, Enforcer was back onto Angry, and the pair were still brawling as the show went off air. OOC: How the hell did that show only get a B? Last four matches of A,B+,A*,A and I get a B overall? Very strange indeed. Anyway - on with the preview for Waterloo PPV. KEY Waterloo PPV, Fri Week 4 Jan 2007 At Plum Park, Tri State. Attendance 13251 Jason, Ana and Rob welcome the PPV audience to the first ever KEY PPV, Waterloo, and mention that we have all three of KEY’s titles being defended tonight, including a hardcore tag title match. ****** Match 1: v Runaway Train v Chris Rockwell We open tonight’s PPV with the match put together by Jeremy Stone last week. It features the former SWF World Champion, Runaway Train against the undefeated Chris Rockwell. It is only an average match as they battle for possible title recognition, and the match spills outside the ring. Rockwell begins to get control with some impressive moves but the referee starts the ten count as he does so. Chris realizes too late that the ref is about to stop the match and he tries to get back in the ring while Train is down on the ramp, but the ref calls for the bell just before he can slide through the ropes. Both men are counted out, which the crowd absolutely hated as an ending dragging the rating down (even further!). Winner: No-one (Draw) Rating D ****** Backstage, Big Cat Brandon is jumped from behind by the New Wave as he is approaching his partner, Chris Caulfield’s dressing room. Guide and Scout beat him senseless prior to the tag title match later on. Rating B- ****** Next up is a bonus match to once again showcase our lesser-known talent. First out is Steven Parker, the former MAW champion, who c0ckily grabs the mic as he enters the ring and tries to tell an unimpressed KEY crowd that he is the Future – and that he is here to stay. They really don't care what he has to say. Rating E+ ****** Match 2: v v v v Steven Parker v Insane Machine v Kashmir Singh v Super Joshuya v Hitomaro Suzuki v Merle O'Curle Out come the other five competitors to join Parker. It’s a fast paced match, which doesn’t really suit Merle and Kashmir, but gives the others a chance to show off their talents, and the team of Super Joshuya and Insane Machine work well together, even though this is officially a singles match. Their combination eventually produces the win, as Super Joshuya hits Parker with the J-Drop, much to his disgust. Winner: Super Joshuya Rating C ****** Super Joshuya is celebrating, when Parker seems to lose his cool completely. He shoves the timekeeper off his chair, slides into the ring behind Joshuya and nails him with a vicious chair shot to the head. He gets another couple of cheap shots in on the Japanese wrestler before Insane Machine can get back to the ring to save his partner from the attack. Rating F+ Notes: Yes these angles do suck – but I need to do something with the lower card. ****** Match 3: v Mean Jean Cattley v Duane Stone Its Duane Stone up next for his final match in his loan deal, against Mean Jean Cattley. Cattley is still sporting a bandage on his nose from the accidental door shot that he took last week from Duane, but it is very clear that it is not hampering him at all, although whenever Duane starts getting the upper hand, he tries to use it as an excuse to persuade the ref to keep them apart. An excellent match between the two as Cattley starts getting some good heel heat for his actions, and it is an unpopular (in a good way!) win for the Mean Machine when he hits the Mood Swing on Duane for the victory. Winner: Mean Jean Cattley Rating B- ****** Out the back, we see Jessie and Jeremy Stone talking, when Squeeky McClean walks past his challenger for his United States Title. He makes some snide remark to Stone about the result of their match last week, and about Runaway Train’s interference, which prompts Jessie to demand that the stipulation of the match tonight is changed and that it should now be a submissions match – so that incidents like that can’t result in a quick, unfair pinfall. Squeeky shrugs his shoulders and says that he doesn’t mind – the result will still be the same. Rating C ****** Match 4: v The New Wave (c) v The Extreme (KEY Tag Title match) It’s the New Wave defending the titles against the Extreme again, and the champions appear extremely confident about the match, given both the nature of the match (hardcore) and the fact that they destroyed Big Cat Brandon earlier. “But the Extreme are also very accomplished hardcore wrestlers as well, so why they would feel this is to their advantage I don’t know,” questions Ana Garcia. It soon becomes clear that Big Cat is still suffering from the effects of the vicious beating that he received earlier, and with the introduction of the weapons, he gets beaten down more easily than normal. Both he and Chris Caulfield battle valiantly, but they cannot gain more than momentary periods of control and Big Cat eventually falls to the Special Force from Scout, who looked excellent out there. Winners (and still Tag Champions): The New Wave Rating C- Notes: This was worse than their earlier match – guess my crowd doesn’t really like hardcore matches. ****** While the debris from the title match is being cleared, Jason, Ana and Rob talk about our next match, featuring the Japanese pairings of Team Pride and The Rebellion. They claim that the winners of tonight’s match must be in with a good chance of getting the next tag title shot. Rating D ****** Match 5: v Team Pride (Tatsuko and Kwakami) v The Rebellion (Shimedzu and Miyamae) Well after the two singles matches over the past two weeks, I was expecting this to be good, but although it was better than the title match that preceded it, it was still a little underwhelming. Tatsuko showed his class out there as he battled the experienced Rebellion pairing, but even he couldn’t keep them from double teaming Kwakami for long periods. Eventually though, Nobu did get back into the ring and cleaned house, taking out Miyamae for the win with the Tatsuko Driller. Winners: Team Pride Rating C+ ****** As Tatsuko and Kwakami celebrate their hard fought victory, the New Wave joins The Rebellion and the four men start attacking Team Pride. This continues until the Extreme also make an appearance to even the numbers, causing the heels to retreat. Rating D ****** Backstage we have Enforcer Roberts with his manager, The Guru. They talk about how Jeremy Stone tried to create dissention in their camp, by pitting Enforcer against Runaway Train, but that it would just mean that it would be Enforcer, rather than Train who had the pleasure of destroying Angry Gilmore tonight and becoming the new KEY World champion, as Enforcer makes him to submit to the RCT. Rating B- ****** Match 6: v Brent Hill v JD Morgan A somewhat random match here, as Brent Hill also made his farewell appearance for now. (although given his impressive match ratings, he will surely be back again in the near future) His opponent is JD Morgan, and with both men still looking for their first victory here in KEY, the action is intense. Brent is slightly younger than JD, and also a slightly more rounded wrestler and this proves decisive as he leaves on a high note with a victory via the King of the Hill. Winner: Brent Hill Rating B Notes: JD Morgan looked good ****** The three announcers now turn their attention to the United States Title rematch between Squeeky McClean and Jeremy Stone. They are agreed that Jeremy has perhaps managed to turn the odds slightly in his favour by getting the champion to agree to a submissions match, given his expertise in that area. Rating B- ****** Match 7: v Squeeky McClean (c) v Jeremy Stone (KEY United States Title match) The two men take their time getting into this match, feeling each other out tonight, not wanting to open themselves up for a potentially match winning submission hold. Both men attempt a variety of maneuvers, without resorting to their signature moves, when, similarly to last week, Runaway Train makes his presence felt, much to the disgust of the announcers, and also similarly to last week, this seems to just tip the match in Squeeky’s favour, as he quickly takes Jeremy down and forces the submission with the Clean Out, to retain his title. Winner (and still United States Champion): Squeeky McClean Rating B ****** Runaway Train is not done with just costing Jeremy Stone the match, as he slides into the ring and proceeds to hit his own finisher, the Train Wreck, on the defeated owner of KEY, before posing triumphantly to the booing crowd. It is the predictable spiel about how he has beaten Roberts before, that he expects a tough fight, but that the result will remain the same as a few weeks ago – another win for the champ. Back and forth the advantage goes, with Roberts trying to force the submission at every opportunity, while Angry tries to weaken the challenger enough to fire off the Anger Management. The match is the best of the night (as you would expect) and the crowd finally has a popular champion to celebrate with, as he successfully defends his title after around 20 minutes of exciting action.
