Ring of Fire: Fighting Every Step of the Way

Wrestling Clinic Sunday Week 1 October Parliament Square 1000 in attendance Another dark tag debuts two new talents; Hugh de Aske and Dean Daniels face the Animals, putting in a fantastic performance which ended when Dean was tagged in and saw del Gato dropkick Hugh from the ring before getting the Ninth Life on the unprepared Daniels for the pin. The Animals defeated Hugh de Aske and Dean Daniels when Amo del Gato pinned Dean Daniels RATING: C- Steve Flash vs. Roy Edison I gave these two another match against each other, mostly to check my theory that they do better outside of the Phoenix Nights. And boy, did they ever; Steve in particular looked fantastic as they re-ran last week's finish at the end of a very different match. Steve Flash defeated Roy Edison by pinfall RATING: C Your New Favourite Team vs. The Force for the Tag Titles This, on the other hand, was just plain weak. Maybe these two teams battling is just played out; I'm not sure, but I do know it's time to drive them that little bit harder. Jonni got the Low Down on Jed to retain. Your New Favourite Team defeated The Force when Jonni Lowlife pinned Jed High RATING: D+ Seiji Jimbo vs. Bulldozer Brandon Smith vs. Chojiro Kitoaji vs. Sergei Kalashnov for the Beacon Championship Chojiro's another of the recent new signings. We're looking at getting to too big a roster; on the other hand, I don't think it's going to be long before people stop thinking of us as regional, and a cult organisation needs depth to its roster. This was good; this was very good, and in the end Seiji ate an inverted piledriver, allowing Brandon to pick up the win and his third belt in Ring of Fire – I'm pretty sure he's our first triple crown champion, though I'll have to check that with Petey. Bulldozer Brandon Smith defeated Seiji Jimbo, Chojiro Kitoaji and Sergei Kalashnov when he pinned Seiji Jimbo RATING: C Hidekazu vs. Matthew Gauge for the Heritage Championship Man, someone else Matthew doesn't work well with. On the other hand, this was a good enough bout in any case. It took twelve minutes of back-and-forth technical wrestling, but in the end Hidekazu got a dragon sleeper and made Matthew tap. Hidekazu defeated Matthew Gauge by submission RATING: C British Samurai vs. Joey Beauchamp vs. Don Henderson With our champion away at CGC, this was the way to end the show; a fantastic triple threat between three of our best. Don in particular seemed to have picked up a few new tips, spending a dominant early phase against Joey as he matched his speed and power with expert counters and punishing submission holds. Sammy reinserted himself into the battle quickly, though, and the three men maintained a wary if fast pace through the rest of the match. Sammy got Don into the Secret Samurai Stretch toward the end, only to be Breeze Blocked from behind; Don was posted through the ropes to the floor by the impact and Joey got the pin on Sammy. Joey Beauchamp defeated British Samurai and Don Henderson when he pinned British Samurai RATING: B- Not a perfect show, thanks largely to the tag disaster, but good enough; the first Wrestling Clinic has the fans buzzing. OVERALL: C+ Startlingly, we actually put together a better show than CGC. Ah, well...

Best of British Tour Tuesday Week 2 October Parliament Square 1000 in attendance Our dark bout this Tuesday: The Animals take on Los Hijos once again. Not too bad; as good as the tag title bout last week, in fact – 21CW quality, as we've begun calling these matches backstage. Del Gato, as I'm sure you've guessed, picked up the win with a Ninth Life on Capitao. The Animals defeated Los Hijos when Amo del Gato pinned Capitao Brasil Jr RATING: D+ Magnifico vs. Mario Heroic vs. Extraordinario Jr A very odd trio to wrestle, but this was, pretty much, about getting them exposure. I'd hoped it would be better, and unfortunately it wasn't, but hopefully we'll live, this being the opener and all; Mario finished the bout with a Hero Attack on Magnifico, winning his debut with a pin on the legend. Mario Heroic defeated Magnifico and Extraordinario Jr when he pinned Magnifico. RATING: D+ Your New Favourite Team vs. Death from Above vs. The Force for the Tag Titles This was better, thankfully, and better than last week too; evidently the third team really helped. And it was Velocidad who eventually ate the Kenobi Kutter and found himself pinned – by the Force. Suddenly we had new tag champs... The Force Defeated Death from Above and Your New Favourite Team when Toby Juan Kenobi pinned Velocidad. RATING: C- Matthew Gauge vs. Marc Speed vs. Roy Edison vs. Nichiren Amagawa A battle of the lower card submission specialists here, and one that really picked up the pace – these guys showed how well they can work even if the fans barely know them. It was hard fought chaos for nine minutes, but eventually Matthew got Nichiren down and tapping to the Proton Lock Matthew Gauge defeated Marc Speed, Roy Edison and Nichiren Amagawa when he made Nichiren Amagawa submit RATING: C Bulldozer Brandon Smith vs. Dean Daniels in a Last Man Standing match for the Beacon Championship I informed the fans at home that Brandon and Dean had agreed to the unusually harsh stipulation after some dispute backstage, with Dean wanting to make an impact after last week's dark bout failure and Brandon wanting to make a mark early on in his run with the Beacon Championship. And make a mark he did; a mark I honestly didn't expect. This was fantastic; tough-guy hardbitten action with both veterans of the Japanese style pulling some wonderful puro action before the backdrop driver, hit twice in quick succession, left Dean too dazed to make it to his feet in time. Beautiful work. Bulldozer Brandon Smith defeated Dean Daniels when Dean could not answer the count of ten. RATING: B- British Samurai vs. Ruud van Anger vs. Chojiro Kitoaji Nice, this. Not as good as the prior match, which is a shame, but Ruud and Chojiro proved themselves to me, Chojiro taught Sammy a little bit more about the hard-hitting puro style, and Sammy got the duke by pinning Ruud in return to build momentum. It did everything it was supposed to. British Samurai defeated Chojiro Kitoaji and Ruud van Anger when he pinned Ruud van Anger. RATING: C Davis Wayne Newton vs. Joey Beauchamp in a two out of three falls match for the ROF Championship And this, as always, sealed the show off. Joey got the first fall eleven minutes in with a super powerbomb; Davis came back with an STF out of Joey's superplex attempt to even the falls at twenty minutes, and then things evened out into a cagey match until, at 27:54, Davis vaulted over a Breeze Block and got the mushroom stomp to ground his opponent and hit the STF. Davis Wayne Newton defeated Joey Beauchamp by two falls to one RATING: B No one's had a word of criticism about this card. Our southern fans in particular seem happy with it. We'll get to a larger venue yet. OVERALL: B-

Wrestling Clinic Sunday Week 2 October Aston University Sports Hall 939 in attendance Our dark bout this week saw Los Hijos take on Extraordinario Jr and Magnifico, and it really wasn't that good. Huracan Sandoval Jr got Magnifico with the Ojo del Huracan, and there's definite development in their abilities, but beyond that I'd rather forget this. Los Hijos defeated Extraordinario Jr and Magnifico when Huracan Sandoval Jr pinned Magnifico. RATING: D- Bulldozer Brandon Smith vs. Roy Edison for the Beacon Championship Flawed again; a 21CW bout between these two, as we discover that there's little ability for these two to work together. On the other hand, Roy seems to be picking up some Japanese style, which will be useful as we go along, and this is a level we've had at the opening of shows that turned out to be good for us. We live in hope – and Brandon retains. Bulldozer Brandon Smith defeated Roy Edison by pinfall RATING: D+ Billy Robinson vs. Steve Flash My continuing crusade to get Billy to a level where he can be trusted to call a reasonable match is the reason for this bout, and it's another step along the road, I think – at least, I'm pretty sure some of the flourishes were Billy rather than Steve. Not too bad a match, either, with the fans getting into it before the Capital City Crucifix forced Steve to submit. Billy Robinson defeated Steve Flash by submission RATING: C- Seiji Jimbo vs. Chojiro Kitoaji This was just a test to see how well two of our young puro specialists stack up; worthwhile, would be the answer, with Seiji and Chojiro putting together an excellent near quarter-hour before the Ocean Lock took Chojiro to the ground and forced him to tap. Seiji Jimbo defeated Chojiro Kitoaji by submission RATING: C+ Don Henderson vs. Marc Speed vs. Nigel Svensson in an Elimination Match Good grief. The fans absolutely loved this one, and a continuing submission theme unfolds. Nigel took Marc down earlyish with a DDT converted to a guillotine choke that had the American tapping, and Don was there waiting as Nigel got up. The two put on a Wigan-style clinic for a while before Don tripped Nigel, hooked in the Scottish Deathlock, and picked up the win. Fantastic match. Don Henderson defeated Marc Speed and Nigel Svensson by elimination. RATING: B- British Samurai vs. Hugh de Aske This bout was all about giving Sammy momentum heading toward Tuesday, and Hugh was picked more or less at random. I'm extremely glad of that random choice now; it wasn't chemistry that made this bout pop, it was just two very good performances and twenty-eight minutes with which to play. Again, old-school British submission grappling was the order of the day here, culminating when Hugh tapped to the Secret Samurai Stretch after a match that really had the fans howling their approval. British Samurai defeated Hugh de Aske by submission RATING: B Once again, a show about which no one did or could complain. I'm very happy with this; the Midlands fans deserve great shows, and we gave them one here – save for the dark bout, of course – full of the old-school technical wrestling ROF made its name on. While I'm happy to have expanded our repertoire, I'm proud to show we can still put on a card that capitalises on it, and I'm happy to see the Midlands fans so fired up. Hopefully, soon, we'll fill the Sports Hall. OVERALL: B- Overseas, shortly after we put on this card, Davis recaptured the CGC Canadian title from Joey Poison. I shudder to think how highly decorated the man is now. He was rightly hailed as the show's best performer. Other news: the CWWF is looking for a new booker, following Bart Biggz' resignation. Be interesting to see how that goes; they've been doing OK thus far, arguably more prestigious to work for than AAA.

Best of British Tour Tuesday Week 3 October Aston University Sports Hall 875 in attendance Another very poor dark bout as Death From Above roll over Los Hijos; another learning bout, more than anything else, but even so I'm unhappy with this one. Eagle got the win over Capitao here. Death From Above defeated Los Hijos when Black Eagle pinned Capitao Brasil Jr RATING: D- Mario Heroic vs. Sergei Kalashnov I was hoping for better things from these two, and thus far I'm not getting them. Another 21CW match saw Sergei get the Eastern Block and pick up the win at 11:38. Sergei Kalashnov defeated Mario Heroic by pinfall RATING: D+ The Force vs. The Animals for the Tag Titles And the tag division continues its slump back into mediocrity. Needless to say, I'm not so happy about that, but thankfully this was short. Toby got the Star Destroyer on Purpura to end it. The Force defeated The Animals when Toby Juan Kenobi pinned El Bestia Purpura RATING: D+ Matthew Gauge vs. Hidekazu vs. Billy Robinson for the Heritage Championship This was pretty sweet, thankfully. A good solid title match that made the most of everyone's ability before Hidekazu took it home with a tornado slam to Matthew following Matthew's enzuigiri on Billy. Hidekazu defeated Matthew Gauge and Billy Robinson when he pinned Matthew Gauge RATING: C+ Chojiro Kitoaji vs. Bulldozer Brandon Smith for the Beacon Championship I'd hoped that this would do better following Chojiro's recent performances, but that wasn't to be – an OK match only here. It'll do for now, though, and the Inverted Piledriver kept Brandon on top. Bulldozer Brandon Smith defeated Chojiro Kitoaji by pinfall RATING: C- Davis Wayne Newton vs. British Samurai in a 30 minute Ultimate Submission match for the ROF Championship Yeah, this was good. These two seemed very comfortable with the stipulation and Davis wrestled a Wigan-style technical contest alongside Sammy that got a lot of the fans smiling after the Wrestling Clinic display two days prior. It was hard, it was fast, it was very, very technically sound and man, was it impressive. Davis got the duke with two falls to one, but this was fantastic. Davis Wayne Newton defeated British Samurai by two falls to one RATING: B Not bad, overall – could do with some better starts, as I'm convinced some of our downloads only get started without ever seeing a finish. But I'll take anything that seems to put us in a better position than before. OVERALL: C+ USPW's laid off a number of its talents. None of them are people I'd want to pick up, but it's kind of a shame for Jillefski and Strong anyway – their experiment just doesn't seem to be working. El Critico's leaving SOTBPW as not big enough for him anymore; Akima Brave's doing the same to DaVE and DJ Reason to MOSC. The other big news? CWWF's new booker – Leo Davis. Good luck to him in following up on his predecessor's success.

Wrestling Clinic Sunday Week 3 October Parliament Square 1000 in attendance Our dark contest this week; Your New Favourite Team battle Los Hijos – and put on a hell of a battle, one beyond what I'd expected them to be able to do. In just ten minutes these four men kickstarted my faith in the tag team division. Beautiful stuff. Unsurprisingly, it was Capitao's shoulders which ended up pressed against the mat for the three count, in this case after a Low Down took him out. Your New Favourite Team defeated Los Hijos when Jonni Lowlife pinned Capitao Brasil Jr RATING: C Don Henderson vs. Nigel Svensson This is the kind of ability level where a lack of chemistry ceases to matter. With a little over a quarter of an hour Don and Nigel created a gripping British submission bout that kept right on rolling until a figure-four attempt by Nigel found itself countered into the Scottish Deathlock, eventually forcing Nigel to tap. Don Henderson defeated Nigel Svensson by submission RATING: C Hidekazu vs. Dean Daniels vs. Marc Speed vs. Roy Edison for the Heritage Championship Hidekazu works well with three comparative newcomers to the UK wrestling scene and all four men end up looking excellent – as you'd expect; barring Roy all of these men have extensive pro experience and Roy's abilities translate well to the ring so long as there's a good ring general around. Dean missed a flying clothesline and wiped out; Roy got a chance to debut the Patent Pending roundhouse on Marc, and Hidekazu stepped in with a tornado slam on Roy to pin him and defend the title. Not great, but not bad. Hidekazu defeated Dean Daniels, Marc Speed and Roy Edfison when he pinned Roy Edison RATING: C Bulldozer Brandon Smith vs. Seiji Jimbo vs. Nichiren Amagawa for the Beacon Championship I really enjoyed this. These three men took a solid, steady pace from the prior matches and stepped it up a notch, with all three men nearly winning, all three men breaking up each others chances, until eventually the time limit ended things for them. A good solid bout from three men with great prospects. Bulldozer Brandon Smith drew with Seiji Jimbo and Nichiren Amagawa when the time limit elapsed. RATING: C+ Bairei Yasujiro vs. Jed High vs. Joey Beauchamp in an Overhead Wires contest This wasn't as good as I'd hoped, sadly. Jed just couldn't keep up with the other too for so long, and quickly fell by the wayside, which I felt weakened things, and toward the end his interferences were a little bit slow. Bairei and Joey covered as best they could but this just wasn't all it should be. Joey got the contract in the end, and goes into the next Tour date as the number one contender... Joey Beauchamp defeated Bairei Yasujiro and Jed High when he retrieved the contract RATING: C A real shame about that main event. If I'd left Jed out of it, I can't help but think this would've been one of our best shows to date. The fans really ripped into his performance on the forum. Still and all, I think the sheer quality of the all-round card got us some new fans. OVERALL: C

Best of British Tour Tuesday Week 4 October Parliament Square 1000 in attendance Another pretty solid tag bout in the dark; the Animals did battle with Death from Above, with both teams showing definite signs of improvement. The fight eventually ended with the New Jersey Turnpike to Amo del Gato, which tells me I need to start asking how good El Bestia Purpura actually is. Death from Above defeated the Animals when Black Eagle pinned Amo del Gato RATING: C- The Force vs. Your New Favourite Team for the Tag Titles And for once a championship bout outdid the undercard. Definitely worth it, this one; as all four men put on a fantastic performance. In the end, Johnny ate the Star Destroyer and Jed got the pinfall. The Force defeated Your New Favourite Team when Jed High pinned Johnny Highspot RATING: C Marc Speed vs. Matthew Gauge Just a quick match to show the fans what these guys can do and allow them to stretch their legs. They're relatively unknown, which I think weakened things, but they still put together a fun little bout that ended with Marc tapping to the Proton Lock. Matthew Gauge defeated Marc Speed by submission RATING: C- Dean Daniels vs. Extraordinario Jr vs. Ruud van Anger vs. Steve Flash Four men, three of whom haven't had much to do recently and one of whom deserves to be seen. Another very enjoyable match that ended with a Flash Bang to Ruud, giving Steve another victory and protecting Dean and Extraordinario a little as they slowly build their reputation here. Steve Flash defeated Dean Daniels, Extraordinario Jr and Ruud van Anger when he pinned Ruud van Anger. RATING: C+ Petey Barnes vs. Sergei Kalashnov Not a whole lot to say about this; it was a damn good fast-paced match, and Sergei used his past experience with Joey to mimic him as best he could, giving Petey a taste of his most respected opponent to date as both men tussled. We recently re-signed Petey for another eighteen months and I'm proud of this ROF original, so he got the win and the momentum toward another title challenge at 9:50 following a surprise roll-up out of nowhere. Petey Barnes defeated Sergei Kalashnov by pinfall RATING: B- Chojiro Kitoaji vs. Hugh de Aske Another good bout, though not as good as the two that preceded it. I'm still feeling these two out to figure their spots on the pecking order – their spots for now, anyway. A good, enjoyable bout, Chojiro ended it and picked up his first win at 7:38 with the Kitoaji Lariat. Chojiro Kitoaji defeated Hugh de Aske by pinfall RATING: C Davis Wayne Newton vs. Joey Beauchamp in a Last Man Standing match for the ROF Championship In what a lot of fans are describing as 'a transparent attempt to establish Newton's credibility with as many stips as possible' this was, indeed, a Last Man Standing match. Swear to God there'll be reasons when we have the chops to devote time to story and promos. This was fantastic, though; Davis didn't so much establish himself here as prevent Joey from getting the win, as eventually both men proved unable to regain their feet after a flying clothesline met a Breeze Block coming in the other direction. The fans are hot for this to continue, I tell ya. Davis Wayne Newton drew with Joey Beauchamp when neither man could answer the count of ten. RATING: B Once again, a show with absolutely no complaints on the forums. If I'm kicking myself about the order of some of the bouts on the card, no one else seems to be, which is extremely satisfying. OVERALL: B-

Wrestling Clinic Sunday Week 4 October Parliament Square 1000 in attendance A four-way match in the dark this week as a way to change things up; Black Eagle took on Extraordinario Jr, El Bestia Purpura and Huracan Sandoval Jr, defeating them handily with a New Jersey Turnpike to Huracan. It was... OK, but only OK. Black Eagle defeated El Bestia Purpura, Extraordinario Jr and Huracan Sandoval Jr when he pinned Huracan Sandoval Jr. RATING: D+ Marc Speed vs. Nigel Svensson vs. Roy Edison Again, not great, but acceptable for now. There's no real star power to this bout yet, but each one of these men has star potential within them. A 21CW match ended with Nigel's Running Knee Drive to Roy, a satisfyingly MMA moment, Nigel Svensson defeated Marc Speed and Roy Edison when he pinned Roy Edison RATING: D+ Don Henderson vs. Steve Flash Once again we see what sufficient talent can do to a contest when there's no chemistry, as these two pulled the best they could out of the situation, with Steve graciously giving Don the win via Scottish Deathlock at 14:26 after a sweet match. Don Henderson defeated Steve Flash by submission RATING: C+ Bulldozer Brandon Smith vs. Chojiro Kitoaji vs. Dean Daniels for the Beacon Championship Amazing what the right candidates can do to boost the quality of the bouts for a given belt. Another lovely match here culminated when the Kitoaji Lariat was sidestepped by Dean, sending the Japanese warrior over the top rope, and Dean turned into an inverted piledriver allowing Brandon to retain. Bulldozer Brandon Smith defeated Chojiro Kitoaji and Dean Daniels by pinfall RATING: C+ Sergei Kalashnov vs. Johnny Highspot These two, unfortunately, don't have the talent base to overcome a lack of chemistry, turning in a pretty mediocre match that ended with Sergei's victory in just under ten minutes. Sergei Kalashnov defeated Johnny Highspot by pinfall RATING: D+ Petey Barnes vs. Bairei Yasujiro Wow. Simply wow. This was great. Petey wasn't happy with the lack of dominance seen in the result, and I think he chose to show that displeasure by putting on the best performance he and Bairei were capable of, bolstered by their fantastic chemistry. Even Matthew getting lost trying to keep up on commentary and the fact neither man wanted to sell couldn't really hold this back. Eventually the battle spilled onto the apron, and a desperate Petey got the Future Shock to the floor, but he fell, exhausted, at the count of eight and didn't get into the ring, causing Humphrey to rule it a double count out. Petey Barnes drew with Bairei Yasujiro when both men were counted out. RATING: B+ Complaints about Bairei and Dean both getting too much screen time on the forums, but I can forgive them that when they produce at the level they do. They'll get over. Fantastic show otherwise. OVERALL: B- USPW must be getting desperate; they've hauled the book away from Enforcer Roberts. The way they've fallen of late, though, that's a mug's job.

Best of British Tour Tuesday Week 1 November Phoenix Nights 300 in attendance We finally sell out the Phoenix Nights, and celebrate by giving the Animals another bouth with Los Hijos in the dark. Unusually, it's Los Hijos who carry the day on this one, with Huracan getting the Ojo del Huracan on El Bestia Purpura. Not too bad, but the crowd was near-dead – these guys just aren't well known here, mostly because they spend almost all of their time in the dark. Good enough, though. Los Hijos defeated the Animals when Huracan Sandoval Jr pinned El Bestia Purpura RATING: D Black Eagle vs. Steve Flash These two men don't work well together, it appears, but they put together an OK opener nonetheless, with Steve stepping up his game to make up for the flaws. We'll cope – we always do badly in the North, at least until we can pull the place fully into gear. Ten minutes of solid back and forth before the Flash Bang met the New Jersey Turnpike on its way down, allowing Steve to get the pin in the first decent pop of the match. Steve Flash defeated Black Eagle by pinfall RATING: D Bulldozer Brandon Smith vs. Hugh de Aske for the Beacon Championship These two, on the other hand, work pretty well together; this was the first time they ever faced off but they took to it like ducks to water, with Hugh seeming to know exactly when to go light for Bulldozer's triple-belly-to-belly suplex sequence to really shine, Bulldozer knowing just how to sell the flying back elbow, and so on and so forth. A lovely match that ended with the Inverted Piledriver after Brandon caught Hugh's cross-body. Bulldozer Brandon Smith defeated Hugh de Aske by pinfall RATING: C Billy Robinson vs. Matthew Gauge Nowhere near as good as I'd hoped. Fourteen minutes of a 21CW match ended with the Capital City Crucifix. Both men can produce better; sadly, they didn't. Billy Robinson defeated Matthew Gauge by submission RATING: D+ Hidekazu vs. Mario Heroic for the Heritage Championship Nice. I'll take bouts like this when we come to the North, I really will, so I'm not complaining that Mario was, more or less, phoning it in; I gather he's busy wrangling his DaVE contract, though, which might have something to do with it. They still got the crowd going again and put together a very credible title defence for Hidekazu when he finally got the pin after a butterfly suplex. Hidekazu defeated Mario Heroic by pinfall RATING: C Davis Wayne Newton vs. Bairei Yasujiro vs. Petey Barnes in a Ladder Match for the ROF Championship After the end of the Wrestling Clinic both men found themselves joint number one contender, hence this. While not on a par with what these men can accomplish by any stretch of the imagination, this was still good – I personally suspect that the crowd's lacklustre reactions early on had something to do with it. Bairei went for the ab splash again, Petey rolled clear again, and Bairei twisted in midair to dropkick him instead. Those two are simply fantastic at giving their spots resonance in ladder matches – a fact we played on again in the finish, where the Future Shock sent Petey and Bairei crashing back to the ground, with Bairei's legs trying to hook the belt and failing, only setting it rocking and giving the champ a clear run up the ladder for the belt. Davis Wayne Newton defeated Bairei Yasujiro and Petey Barnes when he retrieved his title RATING: B- Well, when we go North we'll accept ratings like this. The rest of the month rolls us back into our favoured venues, which will hopefully give us greater success. OVERALL: C+ Well. USPW lost their TV show last night. Things are not looking good for them... The Bandito/Critico feud has exploded into SOTBPW's main event as they wait for Critico's contract to elapse, running it as fast as they can. I can't help but smile.

Wrestling Clinic Sunday Week 1 November Parliament Square 1000 in attendance A four-way-dance in the dark, and a four-way-dance that was good enough I regret not putting it in the light. Black Eagle, Extraordinario Jr, Nigel Svensson and Nichiren Amagawa all faced off in a hard-fought ten minutes that ended with Nigel down and tapping to Nichiren's Five-Point Stretch. Nichiren Amagawa defeated Black Eagle, Extraordinario Jr, and Nigel Svensson when he made Nigel Svensson submit. RATING: C The Shooters vs. The Animals Slightly less enthusiastic crowd for this contest, but it seemed to be enjoyed nonetheless, so I'll not complain. Don, as ever, stood out as the star of the bout, eventually getting the victory when El Bestia Purpura tapped to the Scottish Deathlock The Shooters defeated The Animals when Don Henderson made El Bestia Purpura submit RATING: C- The Force vs. The Stunners for the Tag Titles Black Eagle pulled double duty here, and did better in this bout, as the Stunners managed a draw through double disqualification – Brandon and Jed, having lost their tempers, both took simultaneous shots with the Force's lightsabers at each others' heads, drawing the DQ. The Force drew with The Stunners when both teams were disqualified RATING: C Steve Flash vs. Bairei Yasujiro vs. Hugh de Aske Hugh's star continues to rise as we test him, here, against two former world champions to see how it goes – and it goes damn, damn well, especially as all Steve's work with my mostly-lucha lower card has seen him step up his aerial game. No one could quite scrape the win, though, and the match rolled all the way to a highly enjoyable time limit draw. Steve Flash drew with Bairei Yasujiro and Hugh de Aske when the time limit elapsed RATING: C+ Sergei Kalashnov vs. Marc Speed I don't know what it is, but when he doesn't have a title belt around his waist Sergei just isn't as good. It's not that he's off his game, or noticeably slacks, but there it is. These two put together a simple 21CW match to fill eight minutes before the Eastern Block. Sergei Kalashnov defeated Marc Speed by pinfall RATING: D+ Joey Beauchamp vs. Ruud van Anger I don't think Joey was entirely happy about having to face someone so far down the card from him - and he wouldn't have done had I had as many workers available as I'd wanted, or had Johnny Highspot got the stamina for a bout like this – but that didn't matter too much; they didn't tangle much in UCR, with one man a singles champion and the other a tag star, but they showed here that when put in the ring together they really do get on well and can put something together with incredible smoothness and flow. For quite a while there it looked like Ruud might pull off the upset victory – especially when he got the crowd screaming its approval by borrowing Anger Management from a certain well-known US star – but Joey kicked out, fought back into control, and got the Breeze Block for the decisive pin. Joey Beauchamp defeated Ruud van Anger by pinfall RATING: B- I've got to remember to use Sergei in moderation at the moment. Other than that, this was an acceptable show in many ways and pulls us closer to the kind of status we want – we're already internet darlings worldwide, but it's turning that into tickets and merchandise sales that's tough. OVERALL: C+ Dean Daniels broke his wrist in a PGHW match last night, sadly. He wants to wrestle through it, but I think I'll have to keep him in short bursts...

Best of British Tuesday Week 2 November Parliament Square 1000 in attendance Mario Heroic vs. Extraordinario Jr vs. Magnifico A good solid dark bout here, and a halfway decent performance by Magnifico for once. There may be life in the old dog yet... Extraordinario ate the Hero Attack and the pin, though. Mario Heroic defeated Extraordinario Jr and Magnifico when he pinned Extraordinario Jr RATING: C- The Force vs. Los Hijos for the Tag Titles This was just poor, sad to say. Los Hijos and the Force were really just going through the motions here, motions that thankfully ended with a Kenobi Kutter on Capitao Brasil Jr. The Force defeated Los Hijos when Toby Juan Kenobi pinned Capitao Brasil Jr RATING: D Matthew Gauge vs. Roy Edison vs. Seiji Jimbo Better work by these three, all of whom I think are scenting the chance of a title victory if they can build the momentum. They put together a ver nice little ten minutes, ending when Roy suplexed Matthew out of the ring before Seiji got the Jimbo Driver and pinned him for the win. Seiji Jimbo defeated Matthew Gauge and Roy Edison when he pinned Roy Edison RATING: C- Don Henderson vs. British Samurai We reminded the south of the values Ring of Fire has always stood for when these two faced off, giving us a full twenty minutes of solid technical wrestling that really got the crowd bellowing, and I think Don and Sammy both realised just how far the promotion – and they – have come in people's minds when the bell rang and they had a chance to dwell on the reaction of the full thousand in attendance. Don Henderson drew with British Samurai when the time limit elapsed RATING: B- Chojiro Kitoaji vs. Bulldozer Brandon Smith for the Heritage Championship Should've gone on before Sammy and Don, but this was still nice; they had ten minutes and put together a fantastic puro-styled story that ended with the Inverted Piledriver. Chojiro will be one of our big names in time, assuming we can keep him. Bulldozer Brandon Smith defeated Chojiro Kitoaji by pinfall RATING: C Davis Wayne Newton vs. Joey Beauchamp in a 30 minute Iron Man match for the ROF Championship The crowd were electric for this from the off, and they were right to be. There was magic in the air tonight, as Davis and Joey both gave it absolutely everything they had. Joey took the lead with a Breeze Block from the top turnbuckle to the outside at around the fifteen minute mark and Davis clawed it back at twenty-three minutes in when he turned a powerbomb lift into an STF, forcing Joey to tap. The crowd seemed actually pretty content with the draw this seemed to signal, but they absolutely exploded when Joey got a roll-up and squeaked out a second pinfall... at 29:59. That gives us our new best match ever. Joey Beauchamp defeated Davis Wayne Newton by two falls to one. RATING: B+ A fantastic show, this one, and probably one of our best. I'm extremely happy with this one. OVERALL: B-

Wrestling Clinic Sunday Week 2 November Aston University Sports Hall 865 in attendance Our dark contest this week: Your New Favourite Team take on Death from Above, and in a pretty fair dark contest they prevail, with Jonni getting a Low Down on Black Eagle at 9:59 Your New Favourite Team defeated Death from Above when Jonni Lowlife pinned Black Eagle RATING: D- Hugh de Aske vs. Bulldozer Brandon Smith for the Beacon Championship Holy crap. I wouldn't have said these two were capable of that, even with their chemistry, had you asked me. But this was fantastic; both men battled damn hard all the way to the time limit for this belt and put on an incredible bout. Hugh de Aske drew with Bulldozer Brandon Smith when the time limit elapsed RATING: B Hidekazu vs. Billy Robinson for the Heritage Championship Nice, very nice again. An old-school technical match in stark contrast to the powerful brawl beforehand, these two used their fantastic chemistry to blend Japanese and British technical wrestling into a fantastic display for the home crowd, who erupted when Hidekazu finally rolled Billy into a pin while trapped in the Capital City Crucifix and hung on to win. Hidekazu defeated Billy Robinson by pinfall RATING: B- Marc Speed vs. Steve Flash I hadn't expected our openers to be nearly so good, and it was only when the dust cleared that I started to worry about this one. Both men are great, but they don't have the fan support or the momentum. And they put together a match I'd have been grateful for had it been earlier in the card, but this just shouldn't have been in a semi-main-event situation, sad to say. Still, a good enough use of twelve minutes until the Flash Bang got Steve the win. Steve Flash defeated Marc Speed by pinfall RATING: C Joey Beauchamp vs. Petey Barnes in a Ladder Match for the ROF Championship For the first time the ROF Championship is contested on the Wrestling Clinic, and man, was this a great first to have in our repertoire. They had half an hour's wrestling time to contest this and indeed, the retrieval didn't happen until 29:38, though it almost happened earlier – but Joey Breeze Blocked the ladder out from under Petey, who landed throat-first across the top rope, spun around, countered the waiting DDT on instinct and nailed the X Factor before collapsing. At around about this point the crowd exploded, and we still had ten minutes to go. This was utterly mental; in the end Joey countered the Future Shock from the ladder into an inverted suplex and collected the belt, cool as a cucumber. For the second time in six days we have a new best match. Joey Beauchamp defeated Petey Barnes when he retrieved his title. RATING: B+ Best card we've ever put on, no doubt about it. The fans online and in the arena absolutely loved this, and I'm as proud as can be. OVERALL: B
Congratulations - you're getting some great ratings at the moment. The DWN/Barnes/Beauchamp trio at the top of the card are really smoking. Keep it up and you'll get to Cult in no time. :)
Oh, yes - now that the B+s have started they're really rolling - and it's not just those three who're doing it. The first B+ was DWN/Sammy, and various other combos will do it under the right circumstances... Cult is, at the point the diary's at, about two weeks away. ;) The rest of the year... well, I need to run the last three shows of December. I'm interested to see whether some of our boys who're active in multiple promotions are gaining on the 100 list yet. Other than that, I'm really happy with Joey Beauchamp - the driving force of the last year and a half of this diary, in a lot of ways, and still the man my booking team push above the others.
