Cole: Welcome everybody to the show that’s changing Friday nights! Welcome to Friday Night Smackdown! I’m Michael Cole, with me at ringside is my broadcast partner Jonathan Coachman, and Coach, what will we see tonight in London, England? Coach: I have to believe we’re going to see more of Edge, the next World Heavyweight Champion I might add, taking it to The Undertaker. All The Undertaker can do is attack Edge from behind. Edge is going to get his own back, and it’s going to happen tonight! Cole: As we went off the air last week, it was The Undertaker, Matt Hardy and Rey Mysterio, cleaning house. The World Heavyweight Champion is not in the mood to play games with Edge anymore. But up first tonight… we’re going into the VIP Lounge with the United States Champion… MVP! MVP: Once again, MVP is in the ring. And that can only mean one thing… big things poppin’, little things stoppin’! Sit back, relax, and enjoy the view… cause the VIP Lounge is for people better than you! Now… allow me to introduce to you my guest for this evening… this man, is a former World Heavyweight Champion… this man is highly respected here on Smackdown… and this man, is the man that is going to beat The Undertaker at Backlash. My guest tonight… Edge! Cole: Well… here comes the number one contender for the World Heavyweight Title, Edge. Coach… I mean, usually when we go into the VIP Lounge with MVP, he usually brings out whoever he’s facing soon and bad mouths them. Coach: I have to believe that there is a mutual respect between MVP and Edge. Both of them are great champions. After Backlash, they will be the World Heavyweight and the United States Champions. MVP is probably having Edge as his guest, because these two have a great deal of respect for each other. Cole: Well, let’s hear what Edge and MVP have to say to each other… MVP: Now Edge… we both have faced The Undertaker on many occasions. I beat him on Smackdown once, I even carried my then tag team partner Matt Hardy to a win over The Undertaker and Kane. You yourself… you’ve beat The Undertaker too. I mean… you cashed in Money in the Bank last year and beat The Undertaker for the World Heavyweight Title. Then you did it again when you beat Undertaker and Batista to win the title at Armageddon. So Edge, my question to you is… how badly are you going to beat The Undertaker at Backlash? Edge: That’s a good question MVP… and one that deserves a good answer. You know… ever since The Undertaker won the Royal Rumble, a match that neither of us was involved in, he has been trying to make my life hell. And I’ll admit… he got to me. He got to me, and at Wrestlemania… he stole my World Heavyweight Title. And Teddy Long… he used that match to put even more pressure on me. Everything was stacked against me in that match… and I lost. But at Backlash… I am going to regain my title… and then I’m going after Teddy long. MVP: Interesting… interesting. I don’t like Teddy Lon either, and if you can get rid o him… I’d be all for that. But now… I want to ask your opinions on my opponent at Backlash… Matt Hardy. Now I know you two have had you problems in the past. I mean… you stole his girl, you kicked the crap out of him… and then you kicked him off Monday Night Raw. I on the other hand… I have beaten Matt Hardy on several occasions, including at Wrestlemania, yet Teddy Long has decided he should get another shot at Backlash… Cole: Wait a minute… it’s Matt Hardy! Matt Hardy, who has probably had enough of listen to this love fest between Edge and MVP is on his way out here… Hardy: What the hell is going on around here? I mean… since when were you two such good friends? Edge… I don’t care about you man. You can stand there and say whatever you want… but I don’t give a damn about you. MVP… you know damn well you cheated me out of that match at Wrestlemania… Edge: Hey! Hey! Listen Matt… don’t think about talking to me like that. I am a far superior wrestler than you. I have beaten you time after time, and I could do it again at anytime! Hardy: Oh really? Well… how about tonight… you and me go one on one, right here in London! You see, you don’t scare me Edge… and I’m done with all that crap that happened in the past. But… I can beat you tonight… then I’m going to beat your ass at Backlash MVP! Edge: Alright… alright you got it! You and me tonight! But mark my words Matt… I am going to beat you so badly, you won’t even make it to Backlash! Cole: Wow! What a main event that is going to be! Edge, going one on one with Matt Hardy! Coach: This is a huge mistake for Matt Hardy as far as I’m concerned. ---- Cole: We’re back folks, and up next, the number one contender for the Cruiserweight Championship will be decided! 'Cruiserweight Number One Contender Four Way' Jamie Noble v Billy Kidman v Funaki v Nunzio *we join the match near its conclusion* Cole: We have mayhem all over the ring right now. Funaki is down on the outside, Nunzio is taking it to Jamie Noble… here comes Kidman… dropkick to Funaki, who goes crashing into the barrier. Coach: And this is what the Cruiserweight division is all about, high flying, all out action. Cole: Left with three men in the ring, Noble going to the top rope… Noble hits a leg-drop on Nunzio. Here’s a cover, 1-2… Kidman breaks up the count. Billy Kidman, who came abck expecting to win the Cruiserweight Championship, has had a pretty bad attitude ever since Brian Kendrick became the enw champion. Coach: Well, Billy Kidman, he wanted to be the new Cruiserweight Champ, he made it to the final two with Brian Kendrick. It didn’t work out for him, so now he’s looking to win the title at Backlash. Cole: Noble, sends Nunzio off the ropes… Nunzio ducks the clothesline… but then he runs into a spinning heel kick by Kidman. And Noble and Kidman now… sending Nunzio to the floor. And both guys getting in the other’s face… hey, off the top rope… Funaki hits crossbody, he’s covered Noble, 1-2… no! Noble kicked out! Coach: What an upset it would be if Funaki could go to Backlash to face Brian Kendrick! Cole: It nearly happened there… as Kidman is back up… he has Noble… Noble sent crashing through the ropes. Funaki and Kidman left in the ring… who is going to Backlash to face Brian Kendrick? Coach: Funaki can’t win this, can he? Cole: Why not? Funaki… send Kidman to the corner… Funaki, runs into a boot… Kidman has him up… oh! Face first into the mat, here’s a cover… 1-2-3. And Billy Kidman, wins to become the number one contender for the Cruiserweight Title. Coach: Wow! I mean… I think Funaki is out cold Michael Cole. I called it, Funaki isn’t going to Backlash, Billy Kidman is! Billy Kidman beat Funaki, Jamie Noble and Nunzio (C-) ---- *we cut backstage to Teddy Long* Long: Hey Batista… what can I do for you playa? Batista: I just want to ask you Teddy… why don’t I have a match tonight? I mean… I went up against MVP last week, and he blatantly stole a win off of me. So what, because I lost I’m not even wrestling tonight? Long: Listen, Batista… I got so much going on right now. I mean… I got Undertaker an Edge, I got Matt Hardy and MVP, I got the Cruiserweight Title, I got this thing between Rey Mysterio and Vickie Guerrero, I got the tag team titles… I promise you man, as soon as Backlash is over, I got some biug things lined up for you. Batista: Oh yeah? Well let me tell you something Teddy… I might not be on Smackdown much longer is this continues! You better fix things soon… Cole: Well obviously Batista, very upset at the face he feels he isn’t getting the recognition he deserves, he feels like he should involved in the hunt for the World Heavyweight Title. Coach: And this once again is another example of how bad Teddy Long is at doing his job. When I was general manager of Monday Night Raw, I would’ve never let something like this happen. I would’ve made sure all my superstars were involved, and they all felt wanted. Teddy Long is screwing around with Batista, and if he’s not careful, he’s going to screw Smackdown out of one of its biggest stars. Cole: Well, it remains to be seen what happens to Batista. But up next, three teams will meet next week for the tag team titles, and we get a preview of that tonight. John Morrison, one half of the champions, goes up against Deuce and Jimmy Wang Yang. John Morrison v Deuce v Jimmy Wang Yang *we join the match near its conclusion* Cole: Deuce… hits Jimmy with a hard clothesline… and then he drops the knee on him. Here’s a cover, 1-2… and Morrison pulls Deuce off of Jimmy. Coach: Deuce and Domino, they have already been tag team champions, Morrison and Miz the current champs of course… Jimmy Wang Yang and Shannon Moore, they’ve never been the tag team champions before. This match next week is a huge deal for them. Cole: I’m sure it’s a big deal for everyone, as… Morrison sends Deuce flying out of the ring. Deuce and Morrison now, brawling on the floor… hey, look out… here comes Jimmy Wang Yang… moonsault off the top rope, takes out both men. All three men down now on the floor. Coach: That’s what I takes to become a champion in this company. You have to put your body on the line to get the gold. Cole: Jimmy now, sends Deuce back into the ring. Jimmy, throws at right hand at Deuce, and another… Jimmy, sends Deuce off the ropes, Deuce reverses… Jimmy ducks the clothesline… but he hits the flying forearm! Coach: You have to keep Jimmy Wang Yang grounded, or he’s going to… Cole: Hey wait… Jimmy, going back to the top rope… looking for that moonsault… no! Jimmy went for the moonsault, Deuce managed to duck out of harms way... Cole: Morrison from behind… knee to the back, sends Deuce to the floor… Morrison now, he has Jimmy up… oh! Swinging corkscrew neckbreaker… hooks the leg, cover… 1-2-3. And John Morrison gets the win! Coach: And that is why Morrison and Miz are the tag team champions. Jimmy Wang Yang took a huge risk and it didn’t pay off, Morrison got rid of Deuce and then he took advantage of it. Cole: The tag team champions go into next weeks title match full of confidence! John Morrison beat Deuce and Jimmy Wang Yang (C+) ---- *we cut backstage to Eve Torres* Eve: Please welcome my guest at this time, Rey Mysterio! And Rey, last week you tried to talk to Vickie Guerrero about her relationship with Edge, but wound up being attacked by the Edge-heads. How are you feeling about your match tonight with Curt Hawkins? Mysterio: You know, I tried to warn Vickie about getting involved with Edge months ago. And last week, I tried again. But that was the last time. There’s no talking to that woman. There’s no getting through to her. And when Edge finally does decide to get rid of her… I won’t be there to help. As for tonight… I’m getting a little tired of seeing those two fakes running in and saving Edge. I’m going to beat Curt Hawkins tonight… and you better be paying attention Edge. Cole: Rey Mysterio has done everything he could to help Vickie… Coach: She doesn’t need any help! When are people going to understand that? Edge told Vickie he was just suffering from stress before his title match with The Undertaker. As soon as Edge wins back the title, everything will be back to normal, mark my words Cole. Cole: Well OK, I’ll take your word for that. Up next… Kane is in action against a man who has been tearing it up on ECW… Paul Burchill! Kane v Paul Burchill *we join the match near its conclusion* Cole: Kane… rocks Burchill with a right hand… Burchill out of the corner… walks into a sideslam. Here’s the cover, 1-2… nearly had him but Burchill did enough. Coach: This is the thing about Kane. Paul Burchill is a big guy, but Kane was able to scoop him up easily and slam him down. Cole: Kane a very powerful guy… and now looking to show off his agility… Kane going to the top rope… Burchill, managed to kick Kane while he was up there, and the Big Red Machine falls to the mat. Coach: You talk about agility, Paul Burchill showed some right there, managing to kick Kane while he was on the top rope. Cole: Certainly a great athlete is Paul Burchill, a man who was on Smackdown until Mark Henry delivered a devastating injury to him, took Burchill over a year to make it back to the WWE. Coach: And it was worth the wait for him, he is absolutely dominating on ECW. Cole: Is this a chance for Burchill to get the pin? Oh man… Kane just sat up! He has Burchill by the throat… and Burchill… hitting headbuts, throwing right hands, doing everything he can to get out fo this… and finally he breaks free. Coach: You don’t see many guys break out of a Kane chokeslam attempt… Cole: Burchill off the ropes… hits Kane with a clothesline but he doesn’t go down… Burchill hits another… Burchill again… Kane has him by the throat! Kane… no! Burchill again manages to fight out of it… C4! Out of nowhere Burchill hits the C4! Coach: Game over… Cole: Here’s the cover… 1-2-3! And Paul Burchill, what a huge win for him here on Smackdown! Coach: I have to believe it won’t be long until we see Paul Burchill as the ECW Champion, this guy can do it all… Paul Burchill beat Kane (C+) ---- *we cut backstage to Edge and Vickie Guerrero* Vickie: Did you hear what Rey Mysterio said earlier? I mean… how dare he say those things about us. Edge… Edge? Edge: What? Vickie: We’re you even listening to me? Edge: Yeah sure… Rey Mysterio… I heard you. Vickie: So what are you going to do about it? Edge: Baby… don’t worry about it. I got Hawkins and Ryder taking care of it. They’ll kick his ass tonight. Vickie: You better make sure they do… I’m getting sick and tired of the way Rey keeps talking about us… Edge: Uh… listen babe, I got to get ready for my match so… if you wouldn’t mind? Cole: I can’t believe I just saw that, Edge just kicked Vickie Guerrero out of his dressing room. Coach: What? He’s getting ready for his match, he told her that. What’s the problem? Cole: So you still don’t think Edge is ignoring and trying to avoid Vickie Guerrero do you? Coach: No, of course not… he’s got other things on his mind right now. Infact, if Vickie Guerrero was… oh no, not this. Cole: Well, here comes Finlay and Hornswoggle! The Belfast Brawler is in action next, as he takes on Mark Henry! Mark Henry v Finlay *we join the match near its conclusion* Cole: Henry now, going to work on Finlay in the corner… we’ve seen a meaner, more focused Mark Henry in recent weeks, we’ve seen him pick up some wins, notably against Rey Mysterio… Coach: Right and it’s almost like someone has lit the fuse under Mark Henry lately, he has looked very impressive in the ring recently. Cole: Henry now… just tossing Finlay across the ring. That’s the kind of power the World’s Strongest Man Mark Henry has, just lifted Finlay off his feet and sent him flying to the opposite corner. Coach: And this is what makes Mark Henry so dangerous, when he’s in this mindset, he can… Cole: Oh! Finlay managed to stagger back to his feet, only for Mark Henry to crush him in the corner. Finlay just disappeared behind the huge body of Mark Henry right there. Coach: He should be covering him. This is a good time to go for the pin. Cole: Henry is just gloating, he’s not interested in covering Finlay right now. Henry… drags Finlay back to his feet… Finlay with a kick to the knee… now another one. Finlay, trying to rally here… another shot to the knee… Finlay off the ropes… Finlay with a chop block, takes Henry down. Coach: I told you he should have went for the cover, he should’ve kept the pressure on… Cole: Finlay… drops an elbow on Henry. Here’s a cover, 1-2… Henry kicks out. Finlay now, looking to put this… oh c’mon, what the hell is Kenny Dykstra doing coming out here? Coach: Well, he’s out here to… Cole: Hey… Finlay, running up the ramp… Finlay and Kenny Dykstra, there fighting up the ramp! Finlay and Dykstra trading right hands… Finlay and Dykstra, brawling their way up the ramp… Coach: What about the match in the ring? Cole: Mark Henry is just now getting back to his feet, the referee is counting… Coach: He’s at 8… 9… Cole: And there’s 10. Mark Henry has won this match by contout, but once again, Kenny Dykstra has gotten himself involved in one of Finlays matches. Coach: These two teally need to meet in the ring someday, there is a rivalry there that needs to be settled at some point. Cole: Well Coach… will we see it happen at Backlash? Mark Henry beat Finlay by countout (C+) ---- *we cut backstage to Vickie Guerrero and the Edge-heads* Guerrero: Curt… Zack… tonight, I want you two to destroy Rey Mysterio. Curt… I want you to beat Rey Mysterio so badly that he’ll never say anything about me and Edge again. Hawkins: Don’t worry Ms Guerrero… Edge asked us to make sure we took care of this for you. Ryder: Yeah and when it’s over… Rey Mysterio won’t even be able to talk anymore, never mind… Vickie: Chavo? Vickie: Chavo… what… what are you doing here? Chavo: How about you give us a minute alone here guys, huh? Listen Vickie… I was sat at home last week… and I heard what Rey Mysterio said to you. Vickie: I know, I mean… he said some very upsetting… Chavo: He’s right Vickie! He’s right! When are you going to realise… Edge is using you! He used all of us! He doesn’t care about you… all he cares about is that WWE Title! Don’t you think it’s funny that as soon as you weren’t the general manager of Smackdown anymore that he started acting all strange with you? Vickie: Get out… get out! Cole: Coach… there you have Chavo Guerrero… Vickie Guerreros family, and even he ca see what Edge is doing. Coach: Chavo Guerrero has no rite to say that Vickie. Just because they are related does not mean he can accuse Edge of those things. Cole: Oh c’mon, how many times will it take for… well… here comes a man who said he has had enough of trying to reason with Vickie Guerreo… here comes Rey Mysterio! Rey Mysterio v Curt Hawkins *we join the match near its conclusion* Cole: And Hawkins, he’s in position for the 619… here it comes… and Zack Ryder, pulls out of harms way, as both Edge-heads try to regain some focus here on the outside… Coach: Look out for Mysterio… Cole: Rey… over the top rope, taking out both Hawkins and Ryder! Rey Mysterio, using his body as a weapon… Coach: But his body might be starting to weaken. He’s had multiple surgeries in the past, yet he still throws himself around the ring like that. Cole: That’s Rey Mysterios way, always has been, always will be. Rey now… throws Hawkins back into the ring. And… he gives Zack Ryder a boot for good measure. Coach: There’s no need for that, Zack Ryder was just standing at ringside… Cole: He was getting involved in the match-up is what he was doing. Rey now… dropkick to Hawkins! He’s set up again… 619! Rey connects! Rey now… West Coast Pop! Down goes Hawkins, here’s the cover… 1… 2… 3! Coach: God I can’t believe it! Cole: Rey Mysterio gets the win over Curt Hawkins… hey wait, Ryder has a chair… Rey ducks… dropkicks back into his face! Ryder now… he gets a 619 too! Coach: C’mon guys, what the hell are you doing out there? Cole: Rey Mysterio is cleaning house! Hawkins and Ryder are running for the hills! Rey Mysterio gets the win! Coach: Vickie Guerrero is not going to pleased with this… Rey Mysterio beat Curt Hawkins (B-) ---- *we cut backstage to Eve Torres* Eve: Please welcome my guest at this time, he is the number one contender for the United States Championship, Matt Hardy! And Matt, after what we heard Edge and MVP say earlier, how are you feeling now you have a match against Edge tonight? Matt: You know, if Edge and MVP want to have their little love in, that’s fine. But they should do behind everybody’s back, and Edge ahs plenty of experience doing that. As for tonight, this ain’t going to be no classic wrestling match, this is going to be a brawl. And when it’s over… MVP… I’ll be counting down the days until I take that title off you at Backlash. And believe me… your time as United States Champion is coming to an end. Cole: Coach, I have to belive Matt Hardy when he says this is going to be nothing but a fight tonight. Coach: Right and I remember when I was on Raw, these two had some absolute brawls. But more often than not, it was… well, it was the man making his way to the ring right now, Edge, who came out on top. Cole: The number one contender is one his way out to the ring. Edge and Matt Hardy, you won’t want to miss this one folks. Edge v Matt Hardy *we join the match near its conclusion* Cole: Edge now, hitting Hardy with right hands in the corner… Hardy fights his way back out. Matt Hardy, on top of Edge, just pummelling him. Coach: This is what he talked about, just throwing rights and lefts at Edge all day Cole: Edge trying to cover up after that flurry of right hands. Hardy now, takes Edge into the corner… comes out with a bulldog! Here’s the cover, 1-2… Edge kicks out. Coach: That was one of the few wrestling moves we’ve seen in this match so far… Cole: So much intensity between these two, so much bad blood as well. Hardy now… has Edge up, sends him off the ropes, Edge reverses it… Hardy ducks the clothesline… but he didn’t duck the knee to the midsection. Edge sends Matt Hardy flying to the mat. Coach: I still think this match should never of happened. These guys made this match when tensions were running high, Edge doesn’t need to be involved in a match like this so close to Backlash. Cole: That’s a good point Coach, but remember, Matt Hardy also has a huge match at Backlash. Edge now… slapping Matt Hardy across the face, that is despicable. Edge… sends Hardy to the corner… Edge charges in… Hardy moves! Edge goes flying into the turnbuckle! Coach: You got to stay focused Edge, there’s no need… Cole: Here’s a roll-up, 1… 2… no! Edge kicked out! That could’ve been it right there. Both men back up… Coach: Wow! Cole: A huge clothesline by Edge sends Matt Hardy back to the mat. Edge now… he’s lining Matt Hardy up… Coach: This is it right here… if Edge hits the spear it’s game over! Cole: Edge… hits the spear! God what a spear! Here’s the cover… 1… 2… 3! It’s over… Edge with a huge spear gets the win, but look at Edge, he knows he was in a battle with Matt Hardy tonight. Coach: It may have been a battle but it’s a battle that Edge won! Cole: And now… what the… Edge is waving to the back. Who’s he waving at? Coach: Is it Hawkins and Ryder? Cole: Oh c’mon… that’s who he’s waving to… MVP! The United States Champion is coming out here. What the hell are these two going to go to Matt Hardy now? Coach: Whatever they want to Michael Cole… Cole: This is ridiculous, Matt Hardy could have internal injuries from that spear, there’s no need for this. MVP… grabbing a chair… oh wait, he just gave Edge a chair too. Coach: They’re going for a con-chair-to and I love it! Cole: Matt Hardy can barely stand… Edge and MVP have him lined up… Coach: He’d be better staying down… *GONG* Coach: NO! NO! How the hell does he keep doing this? *GONG* Cole: The Undertaker! He’s in the ring… kicks that chair right back in Edge’s face… and… oh my! Coach: No… not this! Cole: He has MVP up… tombstone! A tombstone to MVP! Edge is getting the hell out of here… Coach: Can you blame him? Cole: The Undertaker was so close to getting his hands on Edge! He got hold of MVP instead, but at Backlash… we’re going to see The Undertaker put the gold on the line against Edge! Join us next week, for Friday Night Smackdown! We are coming to you live from North Charleston, SC! And King, we’re back from our tour of the UK, and what a week it was! King: Boy you’re not kidding! I mean… Shawn Michaels is the third man in the triple threat match, Jeff Hardy is facing Umaga at Backlash… London has a lot to answer for! JR: We had a great time, we’d like to thank our great fans in the UK for… *HEY* JR: What? Well… I guess King we’re about to be joined by the WWE Champion, Randy Orton. King: He said last week he felt he was being overlooked going into Backlash, and I agree with him JR. JR: The focus has certainly been on Triple H and Shawn Michaels, but there’s a great chance that Randy Orton is going to leave Backlash still the WWE Champion. Orton: You know… I had an interview last week… and in that interview… I made a point, that Shawn Michaels and Triple H, my opponents at Backlash… are overlooking me. You see, they’ve both spent so much time lately… fighting with each other. But I… I am the WWE Champion! And if Triple H and Shawn Michaels think I’m going to stand back and watch as they fight over my title… their wrong. You see… Triple H and Shawn Michaels… you are both legends in this business… but I am the Legend Killer! I have made my career on putting guys like you on the shelf… permanently. And I hold victories over both of you in the last few months… and with that in mind… I am guaranteeing victory this Sunday at Backlash! I am walking into Baltimore as the WWE Champion… and that’s how I’m going to leave. This Sunday… the Legend Killer… makes Triple H and Shawn Michaels his victims… for the second time! King: Wow JR… I mean… no-one is going to be overlooking Randy Orton now. JR: Absolutely not. He’s a great athlete, a ruthless champion, and no-one will be underestimating the WWE Champion this Sunday. ---- JR: We’re back from commercial folks, and up next… the World Tag Team Champions, Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes, but the gold on the line! World Tag Team Title Match Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes v Santino Marella and Charlie Hass *we join the match near its conclusion* JR: Hass, takes Cody down with a drop toe hold. Hass now, has a chinlock locked on now… this is a big test tonight for the tag team champions. Charlie Hass, a former tag team champion, and Santino is a former Intercontinental Champion. King: Right but Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes have beaten both these guys in recent weeks… JR: But Santino and Hass beat Holly and Rhodes in a tag team match tot earn this shot in this first place. And Santino… stiff right hand to Holly, tag made, here comes Charlie Hass. Hass in… kick to the midsection. He sends Holly off the ropes… reversal… and Holly hits a dropkick. Both men down now and… both men reaching for the tag. King: A lot at stake here JR… JR: Holly tags Cody Rhodes, Hass tags Santino… and Cody catches Santino with a right hand. Cody, takes Santino to the corner… and sends him flying out with a hip toss. Here’s a cover, 1-2… kick out by Santino. King: Watch out for Charlie… JR: … and Cody sees him coming, sends him flying through the air with that back body drop. Cody now… tags in Hardcore Holly. And Cody… clothesline, takes Cody and Charlie Hass to the floor. King: Landed right here in front of us JR… JR: And from behind… Santino hits Holly… Santino now… is he going to the top rope? King: I think he is but… JR: Holly back up… oh! Santino just went for a ride off the top rope. Holly now… delivers the Alabama Slam! 1-2-3! And Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes defend their titles. King: Who’s going to be able to beat these guys JR? Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes beat Santino Marella and Charlie Hass (C) ---- *we cut backstage to Triple H and Shane McMahon* Shane: You hear what he said earlier? HHH: Yeah I heard him. And believe me… I’m not looking past him. I know he’s a threat… but if anybody’s going to mess things up for me… it’s going to be Shawn. Shane: Alright… you sure you can tag with him tonight? I mean… you don’t want to have him leave you all alone out there. HHH: Even if he did, I can still… Shane: What’re you doing in here Orton? Orton: Listen… I don’t want this tonight. I got no interest in being partners with you. You got a problem with Shawn Michaels, you settle on Sunday… there’s no reason for me to be involved in any match tonight. Shane: Well… I make those decisions around here Randy… and I want to see all three of the men in the triple threat match this Sunday in action tonight. That and I want to see Jeff Hardy be softened up a little bit before he takes on Umaga at Backlash. So… as far as I’m concerned… you will be involved in that tag team match tonight. HHH: And don’t even think about trying to pull anything tonight Orton. We’ll settle things on Sunday… but tonight… you make sure we get the job done. If we take out Shawn tonight… we’ll settle it between the two of us. King: JR, there’s a lot of tension in the Raw locker room right now… JR: Absolutely, Backlash is a huge day for a lot of people back there. And tonight is also a pretty big night for Chris Harris. A man who made a big impact on his debut last week against Carlito, tonight, he takes on the very dangerous Snitsky. Chris Harris v Snitsky *we join the match near its conclusion* JR: Snitsky… drives Harris into the corner… and now he drives the shoulder into the gut of Harris. You know what you’re going to get from Snitsky, nothing but bowling shoe ugly offence. King: And Chris Harris, new to the WWE… he may not all that much about Snitsky. But he’s going to know about him after this match. JR: No doubt about that. Snitsky… Irish whip… sends Harris hard into the corner… Snitsky, runs into a boot… and Harris comes out with a clothesline, taking the big man down. King: One of the few times you’ll see Snitsky knocked off his feet like that. JR: Harris now… sends Snitsky off the ropes… Harris connects with the flying forearm. Here’s a cover, 1-2… Snitsky kicks out. So far King, I am impressed with what I am seeing out of Chris Harris. King: I got to agree, he nearly beat Carlito last week and tonight, he’s looking pretty good against Snitsky. JR: Harris… hits a dropkick on Snitsky. The big man is reeling here… Harris… he got Snitsky up… oh! Swinging side slam, a great move by Harris… here’s a cover… 1-2-3! And Chris Harris gets his first win here in the WWE. King: Man… I am impressed by the strength of this guy. JR: Not many men get Snitsky off his feet, but he managed it… Carlito: Hey! Hey! King: Oh… what does he want? Carlito: Hey… you in the ring. Yeah… Chris Harris? That was your name yeah? Listen man… Carlito don’t like the fact that you decided to try an embarrass Carlito last week. That’s not cool! Carlito thinks… that you are just some guy who Vince McMahon gave a contract to because he felt sorry for you. Carlito is the Intercontinental Champion… you don’t belong in the same ring as Carlito. And if you… JR: Hey… Chris Harris, chasing Carlito up the ramp. And Carlito’s getting out of here in a hurry. King: Well I guess Chris Harris ha enough of listening to Carlito talking. JR: I’d love to see those to meet again someday. Maybe the next time it’ll be for the Intercontinental Championship. Chris Harris beat Snitsky (C-) ---- *we cut backstage to Maria* Maria: Please welcome my guest at this time, one of the men who will be in the number one contenders match at Backlash this Sunday, Mr Kennedy! And after DH Smith beat you last week, do you… Kennedy: What? Hold on there a second… DH Smith didn’t beat me last week. Chris Jericho stuck his nose in my business and cost me that match. Why did you do that Chris? Huh? Why did you do that? I’ll tell you why… because you see me as the threat. You see me as the biggest obstacle you’ve ever faced in your career. You know you can’t beat me this Sunday at Backlash, so you try to play games with me and cost me my match last week. Well you know what Chris… you better be worried. This Sunday at Backlash… I will beat you… and I will earn a WWE Title shot. And when I do… the whole world will know the name… Kennedy… Kennedy! King: God JR… you can’t say he’s not got a lot of confidence in himself. JR: Certainly not. He’s huge talent… and he’s going to have a huge future. Will his time come this Sunday at Backlash? King: Well… up next… it’s a Divas match JR! Mickie James v Jillian Hall *we join the match near its conclusion* JR: Jillian… with a handful of hair... sends Mickie hard to the mat. Mickie James, of course crowned the Women’s Champion at Wrestlemania... Jillian though, the one who’s having most of the offence in this match so far. Jillian… looking for… King: Oh… nice counter by Mickie James. JR: Jillian looking for that handspring elbow… Mickie managed to block it. And now… both these ladies exchanging right hands with each other. Mickie… she manages to duck… and nice neckbreaker by Mickie James, going for the three… 1-2… she almost had it. King: You don’t think if Jillian wins this match she’s going to start singing do you? JR: I hope not… Jillian now… looking for a slam… Mickie reverses… oh! What a roundhouse kick by Mickie James, here’s the cover… 1-2-3! And the Women’s Champion, Mickie James just beat Jillian Hall. King: Great move by Mickie… hey… JR: Oh! From behind… that’s Victoria! King: Victoria? What’s she doing here? She’s on Smackdown! JR: Victoria… she just took down Mickie James with a hard shot… and now she just levelled Jillian Hall. Victoria… she’s got a hold of Mickie… oh! Widow’s Peak! And Victoria… just sent a huge message to the Women’s Champion. King: Is she back on Raw? JR: I guess so King… Mickie James beat Jillian Hall (C) ---- JR: We’re back from the break folks and… well it seems like Victoria has returned to Raw. King: And what a return she made, attacking the Women’s… JR: Hold on a second King… here comes… Y2J, Chris Jericho! I’m sure he heard what Mr Kennedy had to say to him earlier tonight… King: And I’m sure he’s got one or two words to say back to him… Jericho: Welcome to… Raw… is… Jericho! This is the second coming of Y2J… and the reason I came back to the Raw… was to become the WWE Champion! I came back, to save us from Randy Orton… I came back to give the people what they wanted… and I was all set to do it. At Armageddon… I had the Walls of Jericho locked on to Randy Orton, in the centre of the ring… and I was all set to become the new WWE Champion… until that Wall Street jackass, JBL, decided to stick his nose in. So… after disposing of JBL at Wrestlemania… I am setting my sights on the WWE Title once again. This Sunday at Backlash… I am going to beat that stuttering fool, Mr Kennedy… Kennedy… and then, at Judgement Day, I will emerge as the new… WWE Champion. And you know, I was thinking about the triple threat match this Sunday… and I was thinking about you I would want to win that match. And to be honest… I couldn’t give damn who wins that match. All that matters… is that Y2J will become the number one contender… and Y2J will go on to become the new WWE Champion! JR: Chris Jericho… he sounds very determined and focused going into Backlash this Sunday. King: JR… I can’t wait for that match between Jericho and Kennedy. I think it’s going to be a great match! JR: Backlash is shaping up to be one hell of a pay-per-view! ---- JR: We’re back ladies and gentlemen, and after what he just heard Chris Jericho say… the young man heading down to the ring right now certainly owes him a big assist for last week. King: Right, I mean… DH Smith, he got a huge assist from Chris Jericho to help him beat Mr Kennedy last week, and tonight, he’s going up against William Regal. William Regal v DH Smith *we join this match near its conclusion* JR: Regal… hard shot to the face… and another right hand. DH Smith, the rookie, got that huge upset win over Mr Kennedy last week, but tonight… he’s taking on a man who has developed one hell of an attitude in recent weeks. King: He’s been besmirched JR. He was fired as the general manager, then Vince McMahon put him up against some really tough opponents. JR: Well, so far tonight, he’s managed to stay on control of DH Smith, thanks to some vicious right hands. Regal now… knee to the midsection, off the ropes… oh, knee to the head. Here’s a cover, 1-2… Smith manages to kick out. King: I think DH Smith’s only hope would be if someone comes down and distracts William Regal, then Smith could maybe win. JR: Regal, choking Smith using the ropes, the referee gives him a five count. Regal… drags Smith back to his feet… applying a standing submission here… King: DH Smith, he has to try fight out of this, you don’t want William Regal locking on submission moves… JR: And Smith, with right hands, fights out of it… Smith, off the ropes… Regal catches him with a back elbow, and now an elbow drop… hooks the leg… 1-2… Smith escapes the near fall. King: DH Smith didn’t really kick out of that, he just managed to drag his elbow off the mat… JR: Regal now… whips Smith to the corner… oh, Regal runs into an elbow… and again… Regal… oh wait, Smith has him up… King: No! JR: Running powerslam! Running powerslam! Out of nowhere… the cover… 1-2-3! He did it! Young DH Smith managed to beat William Regal! King: Not again JR… how many more times is William Regal going to lose? DH Smith beat William Regal (B-) ---- *we cut backstage to Shane McMahon and The Big Show* Shane: … I don’t know what he was thinking. I mean… I wanted you to be there. You could’ve really helped Hunter… Big Show: Whoa, whoa hold on. I could’ve helped Hunter? That’s why you wanted me to be in the triple threat match? To make sure Triple H won the title? Shane: Well yeah… but, uh… I would’ve made sure you had the first… Big Show: Listen Shane… I came back to the WWE cause you asked me to help you kill DX. Now… it don’t matter who it happened… DX died at Wrestlemania. So… where is my title shot Shane? Huh? I mean… I’m not getting this Sunday at Backlash… I’m not getting it next month at Judgement Day… so when am I getting my title shot? Shane: Look man… I’m sorry OK. I wanted you to be involved at Backlash, I really did… but… Big Show: You know what? Screw you Shane… I’m out of here. Shane: Hey… hey! Show! I’m the boss around here! Don’t you forget that! You answer to me! Show… King: Gosh JR, what was that all about? JR: One of the biggest mistakes in the World is to cross the Big Show. If Shane McMahon promised The Big Show a WWE Title shot, as a way of getting him to come back and help him win the war against DX, then he better deliver it, otherwise he’s going to have a huge problem on his hands. King: and also JR, if Big Show feels like… JR: Well… here comes another member of Team McMahon as it’s called, Umaga. The Samoan Bulldozer is in action this Sunday at Backlash in a Loser Leaves Raw match with Jeff Hardy. But tonight, he has a huge test ahead as he takes on Booby Lashley! Bobby Lashley v Umaga *we join the match near its conclusion* JR: Umaga… charges in… oh! Umaga just crushing Lashley in the corner… and Lashley has just collapsed in a heap on the bottom turnbuckle. King: God JR… how do you stop Umaga? When he builds up a head of steam like that, he’s unstoppable. JR: I think you just answered your own question King, you don’t stop Umaga. And Umaga now… on no, not this. Umaga… lining Lashley up… nobody home! Umaga was about to drive Lashleys skull off the turnbuckle, Lashley managed to move. King: Yeah but he’s too beat up to take advantage of it right now… JR: Lashley back to his feet… rocks Umaga with a right hand… and another. Lashley off the ropes… hits Umaga with a shoulder block, it only staggered him… Lashley again… a third time… takes Umaga down! King: But Lashley had to put so much effort into knocking Umaga off his feet… JR: Lashley now… trying to rally, trying to gain some momentum and trying to figure out a way to put Umaga down for a three count. Lashley now… sends Umaga off the ropes… Lashley hits a huge clothesline! King: But Umaga gets straight back up… JR: Lashley takes himd own again… but Umaga refuses to stay down… oh my God! Bobby Lashley just slammed Umaga! What strength… King: I don’t think if ever seen Umaga taken off his feet like that… JR: Lashley now… he’s lining Umaga up for a spear… here he comes… oh! Umaga reversed it into a Samoan Drop! My God what a move! King: And that could be the end for Bobby Lashley right there… JR: Well… if that didn’t do it, this’ll do it right here… oh! Samoan Spike! Right to the throat… here’s the cover… 1… 2… 3! My God Umaga wins… King: What a great effort by Bobby Lashley. JR: He took Umaga to the limit King. He took him all the way… but the Samoan Bulldozer, out of nowhere hit that Samoan Drop… and then… the Samoan Spike! King: And you have to ask JR… is this what’s in store for Jeff Hardy this Sunday at Backlash? Umaga beat Bobby Lashley (A) ---- *we cut backstage to Todd Grisham* Todd: Please welcome my guests at this time… the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels and Jeff Hardy! And Shawn… Jeff… I have to ask… how are you guys feeling ahead of both your tag team match tonight against Triple H and Randy Orton… and your matches this Sunday at Backlash? Shawn: You know, I heard what Hunter and Randy Orton were saying to each other earlier… and if they think that they’re going to take me out tonight… and make it so I don’t even get to Backlash… they’ve got another thing coming. If anyone is taking someone out before Backlash… it’s going to be me. And Orton… Hunter… if I get the chance tonight… I’m going to kick you out contention for this Sunday. Jeff: You know what man? I’ve had enough of Team McMahon and all the stuff they’ve put me through lately. So Shane… and Umaga… I’m sending you guys a message tonight… we’re going to beat Orton and Triple H… and then I’m going to Backlash to send Umaga out of Raw… and The Showstopper’s going to win the WWE Title. JR: Those two guys King, so much at stake for both of them this Sunday. King: You’re not kidding, I mean, HBK could be the champ and Jeff Hardy could wind up leaving Raw. JR: Backlash is going to be huge… but tonight… our huge main event, Shawn Michaels and Jeff Hardy taking on The Game Triple H and the WWE Champion Randy Orton! Randy Orton and Triple H v Shawn Michaels and Jeff Hardy *we join the match near its conclusion* JR: Orton… hard uppercut. Jeff Hardy has been the target of most of the offence from this team of Orton and Triple H. King: Right but those two haven’t looked all that comfortable working with each other. JR: There has been some confrontation from the men who will be opponents this Sunday. Orton now… looks for a right hand, Hardy blocks it… Hardy with the kick, another right hand… another kick… and Orton sent for the ride, right over the top rope to the floor. King: And Triple H out there… trying to give some advice to Orton… oh! Orton just slapped the taste out of the mouth of Triple H. JR: Look out for Jeff Hardy… oh my God! Hardy flying over the top rope, takes out both men. And Hardy… rolling Orton back into the ring. Here’s a cover, 1-2… Orton gets the shoulder up. King: Jeff Hardy, he badly wants to win tonight, he feels like he needs to prove a point to Shane McMahon ahead of Backlash. JR: No doubt about that. Hardy… sends Orton off the ropes… Orton reverses… and nails Hardy with a clothesline. My God what impact. And Orton… well, he tags in Triple H, but the atmosphere between these two is very clear to see. Triple H now…hard right hand to Hardy. The Game… sends Hardy hard to the corner… charges in… Hardy managed to get a boot up… and another. Hardy… swinging neckbreaker, here’s a cover, 1-2… Triple H kicks out. King: Nice move by Hardy, not something he’s known for but… JR: He’s pulling out all the stops to win this match… tag made, here comes HBK. Michaels is in… knocks down Triple H… Orton comes in… big back body drop! Orton now… sent to the floor again. Michaels and Triple H going at it in the ring… King: What’s Hardy doing? JR: Jeff Hardy… off the top rope… oh my! Jeff Hardy, going for a corkscrew moonsault off the top rope, but Orton managed to move… and Hardy is hurt out here. King: He’s right out here in front of us JR and… he’s not moving much. JR: And Michaels… I don’t know if he’s aware yet… Triple H is in charge now… Michaels of the ropes, reverses it… knee to the face by The Game. Down goes Michaels… and Orton just tagged himself in. King: What’s he doing? JR: I think Orton wants to finish this himself… and Orton and The Game, getting ineach other’s face again… and now they start trading right hands! Orton and Triple H… oh! Michaels hits the sweet chin music on Orton! Down goes the champion… King: What is going on JR? JR: Michaels…. atomic drop on The Game! And HBK… he’s tuning up the band! Michaels… going for sweet chin… Triple H ducks… kick… pedigree! The pedigree! My God out of nowhere… here’s the cover… 1… 2… 3! Triple H, with a pedigree out of nowhere, gets the win. King: But what about Jeff Hardy? He’s still laying on the floor ot here… JR: And Triple H… standing over Shawn Michaels… these two will be involved in the… RKO! RKO! Orton with a RKO to The Game! My God! The WWE Champion… has just left both of his opponents laid out in the middle of the ring! King: God JR… what is going to happen this Sunday? JR: I don’t know King, but I can’t wait to find out! Join us this Sunday, live on pay-per-view! You won’t want to miss it folks! He defends the title at Backlash against Billy Kidman, but tonight he is in action against ECWs Nunzio. Will Nunzio use home field advantage to win? Or will the champ go into Backlash with momentum? John Morrison and The Miz v Balls Mahoney and Stevie Richards Morrison and Miz will defend the titles this Friday on Smackdown. Tonight they take on the ECW Originals Mahoney and Richards. Will Morrison and Miz lose what could be thier last match as champs on ECW? Or will Morrison's win last Friday give them the confidence they need to see of the Originals? Tommy Dreamer v Paul Burchill These two have been on a collison course for the last month it seems. Dreamer has been unbeatable since he got rid of Big Daddy V before Wrestlemania. Burchill made his debut two nights later and has yet to taste defeat. Which off these two on fire superstars will emerge victorious? Shelton Benjamin and Kevin Thorn v CM Punk and Elijah Burke Burke and Benjamin have seen their friendship fall apart in the alst few weeks, to the point were Punk and Burke shaked hands as ECW went off the air last week. The champ has recruited Kevin Thorn to help him inflict pain on his former friend and his number one contender. Which team will win and send either Punk and Benjamin into Backlash with all the momentum? ---- Quick Picks: Brian Kendrick v Nunzio John Morrison and The Miz v Balls Mahoney and Stevie Richards Tommy Dreamer v Paul Burchill Shelton Benjamin and Kevin Thorn v CM Punk and Elijah Burke
