WWE: The Next Generation

What you have done with ECW is really interesting. Granted, you have put higher profile names in to ECW than is in RL, but it's still probably the C show in terms of real names. You have Kurt, Kane, Umaga and Foley, but the rest of the guys like Shelton and Colt Cabana are almost like home grown ECW people. So what you have done is used it as a bit of a development area (where Shelton, Morrison, Colt etc can get over without being on the main shows) but made new stars. You've pretty much done what WWE is trying to do at the moment but more successfully! Another cool show mate. I'm really interested in where this Kane and Umaga thing is going, surely it's not over, is it? Also, are all three men going in to the Triple Threat Match faces?

ECW for me is still a development brand, but I'm trying to use it more as a brand that will develop main eventers for the other brand. Who knows if I'll make it that far, but if I ever have another draft, guys like Morrison and Shelton would be moving on to be at the very least upper midcard guys on the other shows. As for Kane/Umaga, I've changed my mind so many times and finally stuck on something I like. It's unfortunately meant Kane/Umaga has been dropped (an ambulance match would be rather conclusive I feel) but I now have a plan in mind all the way through Mania and beyond that I hope will turn out well. And yeah, Angle, Colt and Kane are going into Armageddon faces, but liek I say, I have a big plan in mind that should clear a few things up. Cheers for the comment mate!

We are coming to you from Bridgeport, CT on what could potentially be a huge night for all of us here on the blue brand. Hello everyone, I’m Michael Cole alongside Jonathan Coachman, and Coach, by the end of the night, we could have a new World Heavyweight Champion. Coach: That’s right. By order of our general manager, CM Punk will defend his title tonight, against the GM, JBL! Cole: We were all shocked last week when JBL made that announcement, that he was giving himself a title shot to, as he put it, return Smackdown to its glory days of his reign as champion. Coach: And he’s exactly right. Smackdown was flying high when it had JBL as champion, and it’s going to be flying high again tonight when JBL beats CM Punk. Cole: Also tonight, Matt Sydal, who stepped up to the plate to be CM Punk’s partner in that tag team match last week, he has a match against JBL’s hired gun Bobby Lashley. Coach: Sydal knew the consequences when he agreed to be Punk’s partner last week. He knew JBL was going to punish him for it, and it’s going to be Lashley who deals with him tonight! Cole: But what about the man who’s making his way to the ring right now? What about Christian? We found out last week that Christian was guaranteed a title shot at Armageddon, but it doesn’t look like he’s going to be getting that shot anymore. Coach: Well Christian was brought back to the WWE for one reason, to help Smackdown get the win at Survivor Series. He didn’t get it done, so he doesn’t get his title shot. Cole: You can’t blame Christian for that! It was because of Edge that we lost at Survivor Series. Coach: Yeah and look what happened to him. He got fired last week... Christian: Last week when I came out here to address you all on my return to the WWE... I talked about some of the reason as to why I left this company in the first place. I mentioned that it was politics and people holding me back that drove me away in the first place. When I agreed to come back here, I was assured by JBL that it wouldn’t happen to me again. Well guess what? Once again, politics are stopping me from getting from is rightfully mine. JBL... I’m not gonna stand for it this time around. I’m not gonna take it anymore! We signed a contract on me getting a title shot at Armageddon... and that’s exactly what’s gonna happen. And if it doesn’t... then I will sue you for breach of contract! You like to brag about how much money you have, you like to brag about how you’re this great business man... I got no problems in making you prove it in court! Cole: What an announcement from Christian! He’ll sue JBL if he doesn’t get the title shot he signed up for. Coach: He can’t do that! Cole: Why not? Coach: Because... I don’t know why, he just can’t! Cole: Well wait a second... here comes JBL now. The general manager of Smackdown is making his way out here. Coach: And he’s bringing Bobby Lashley for company. JBL: You want to threaten me? You want to threaten me with legal action? I realise you’ve been away for a while, so let me fill you in. I am the wall street warrior, I am the general manager of Smackdown, I am the wrestling God! I brought you back to this company, I brought you into this brand... and I will have no doubts about kicking your ass back out the door! I fired Edge and his entourage last week, I will gladly do the same to you tonight! You’re gonna learn boy, you don’t make threats to me. Christian: Listen JBL, you can come out here and boast about your accomplishments all you want, I’m not interested. Now I know you’ve given yourself a title shot against CM Punk tonight, I don’t really care. I signed up for a World Heavyweight Championship match at Armageddon, and that’s what I’m gonna get. I don’t care if it’s you, I don’t care if it’s CM Punk... I want my title shot! JBL: You know what Christian? When I win the World Heavyweight Championship tonight... I don’t think I’ll be defending that title against anybody at Armageddon. So I will make this clear to you... you are not getting a title shot at Armageddon. Christian: In the case... you don’t leave me with any other choice... Cole: Oh! A kick to Lashley... unprettier to JBL! Coach: What the hell is he doing?! Cole: Christian, quickly jumping up of the ring... but he just laid out our general manager! Coach: Is this guy insane? You don’t do that to JBL! Cole: What does this mean for Christian and his World Heavyweight Championship shot? ------------------- Paul London v Chase Stevens The number one contender for the Cruiserweight Title Paul London is in action tonight, taking on Chase Stevens just over a week away from his ladder match with The Brian Kendrick at Armageddon. Stevens is joined at ringside by Andy Douglas, but London doesn’t let that effect him, as he catches Stevens with clotheslines, crossbodys and an enzuigiri to take control early. A springboard dropkick knocks Stevens to the outside, and while he tries to regroup with Douglas, London stays on the attack, coming off the ropes and launching into a suicide dive, taking down both men. Back in the ring, London looks to quicken the pace, but his tornado DDT attempt is countered, with Stevens dropping London face first into the turnbuckle and nailing a neckbreaker for a 2 count. Stevens now looks to build some offense, and he connects with a series of kicks to the chest and a legdrop before hitting a bulldog and a standing moonsault for a 2 count. Stevens then tries to wear London down with a legscissors, as well as hitting elbows to the face. London manages to bridge out into a pin to break the hold, and he follows with a dropkick and a hurricanrana for another 2 count. London is really building momentum now, getting another near fall after connecting with the tornado DDT and following up with a springboard crossbody. Douglas then jumps onto the apron to get involved, but a right hand sends him down, allowing London time to climb to the top rope and hit... a 450 splash! 1... 2... 3! Paul London beat Chase Stevens (C) ------------------- Backstage, Eve Torres is standing by with... Eve: Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my guest at this time... Rey Mysterio! And Rey, last week JBL described you as a problem that needed to be taken care of. This then led to a brutal assault on you from Bobby Lashley after your match last week. Rey, how are you feeling about this whole situation? Mysterio: To be honest, I’m feeling pretty hurt. I mean, Bobby Lashley did a number on me last week. And I still don’t know what kind of problems I’ve caused JBL lately. But if he wants to send Lashley out to do his dirty work... then I’ll get my on back on Lashley... and then I’ll get my own back on you JBL. --------------------- Matt Bentley v Jake Hager The ever unlucky Matt Bentley steps into the ring with newcomer Jake Hager, who made a winning debut last week. Hager looks to build on that win by starting this match in confident fashion, taking Bentley down with a double leg takedown and going to work with waistlocks and chinlocks. Bentley is able to counter and get back to his feet, only for Hager to take him back down again with a belly-to-back suplex. Hager starts to land big right hands and uppercuts, but when he sends Bentley to the rope and charges in, Bentley avoids him, and when Hager staggers out of the corner, Bentley hits a German suplex for a 2 count. Bentley stays on the attack, picking up 2 counts after a northern lights suplex and a DDT. Bentley drops Hager with a backbreaker and climbs to the top rope, but Hager rolls out of the way of his elbowdrop, and he quickly gets back to his feet and nails an overhead belly-to-belly suplex for a 2 count. Hager drags Bentley back to his feet and sends him to the corner, following in with a clothesline, sending Bentley off the ropes and through the air with a back-body-drop. Bentley staggers back to his feet, only for Hager to scoop him up for a running powerslam, drawing another 2 count. Hager is in full control, and it doesn’t take long for him to take Bentley up for... the gutwrench powerbomb! Hager nails Bentley, hooks the leg... 1... 2... 3! Jake Hager beat Matt Bentley (C-) -------------------- Backstage, CM Punk is talking to Christian about what happened last week and earlier tonight... Punk: Man, I can’t believe you did that to JBL. Christian: I’m sick and tired of him trying to screw me over. I should be the one taking you on for the title. Instead he wants to give himself a title shot. Punk: Yeah I know. We gotta do something man. Christian: Did you talk to Vince McMahon? Punk: I tried to. He’s out of town with Ric Flair right now. Some business trip they had to go on. Christian: So until Vince gets back, we’re stuck with JBL and his power trip? Punk: Looks that way man. Look... neither of us wants to see JBL as champion, agreed? Christian: Yeah of course. Punk: So how about this? You watch my back tonight, you make sure Lashley doesn’t get involved... and I’ll give you your title shot at Armageddon. Christian: You’ll give me my shot? Punk: If I’m still the champion come Armageddon... it’s you and me for the title. Christian: Alright... deal. Punk: Good. Hey... did you talk to Edge this week? Christian: After that stunt he pulled at Survivor Series... I don’t really have anything to say to him right now. --------------------- Jimmy Wang Yang and Shannon Moore v Jamie Noble and Gregory Helms Four cruiserweights step into the ring for tag team action tonight, as Wang Yang and Moore take on Noble and Helms. Moore and Helms kick things off, and the action between the two is very back and forth, as Helms is able to take Moore down and club him with forearms until Moore fights back to his feet and catches Helms with a neckbreaker before tagging in Jimmy. Yang goes to the top rope and connects with a dropkick to enter the ring, following up with a dropkick and a back-body-drop. Helms is able to tag in Noble, but Jimmy takes control here too, ducking Noble’s clothesline and hitting a jawbreaker and a crossbody for a 2 count before tagging in Moore. Shannon comes in and looks to target Noble’s arm, wrenching away and driving his knee into Noble’s shoulder. Noble however is able to send Moore off the ropes, where Helms drives his knee into Shannon’s back, allowing Noble to hit a German suplex for a 2 count as his team takes control. Helms and Noble do plenty of damage to Moore, connecting with neckbreakers, backbreakers and powerslams to wear Moore down, until Noble connects with a legdrop from the second rope for a 2 count. Noble then locks on a seated chinlock, firing forearms to the face at the same time. The crowd gets behind Shannon, and he struggles back to his feet, breaking the hold with a jawbreaker and following with a clothesline to tag in Jimmy. Jimmy comes in with clotheslines for both Helms and Noble, pummelling Noble with right hands and sending Helms flying with a back-body-drop. Jimmy now turns his attention to Helms, connecting with right hands and sending him off the ropes... reversal... baseball slide from Jimmy... victory roll! 1... 2... Noble makes the save, but here comes Shannon... clothesline takes both men over the top. In the ring, Jimmy and Helms continues to battle, with Jimmy looking to send Helms to the corner... reversal... Jimmy to the top rope... moonsault... no! Helms runs through, but Jimmy lands on his feet... nightmare on Helms street! Helms nails Jimmy, and with Noble keeping Shannon on the outside... 1... 2... 3. Santino: Si... well I still haven’t forgiven you for the way you embarrassed-ah me last week. I mean... Vil Vanus? He is no match for Santino Marella! Rosa: After what I saw last week, I wouldn’t be so sure. Santino: What? You-ah think Vil Vanus is more man than Santino? Rosa: Oh, trust me Santino, after what I saw last week... he is. Santino: Well Rosa, how about you give Santino the chance to prove it to you. Say, you... me... some champagne, maybe a little... Rosa: Sorry Santino, but I’m washing my hair. Santino: This is about Vil Vanus isn’t it? Now you-ah listen to me. Vil Vanus is not... But what about...? Rosa: Bye Santino! Santino: Hey! You-ah said... but... argh! -------------------- Bobby Lashley v Matt Sydal Sydal’s punishment for stepping up to help CM Punk last week is a match against Bobby Lashley, the man who destroyed Rey Mysterio last week, and is out to do the same to Sydal tonight. Lashley obviously looks to his power game early on, but Sydal uses his quickness to hit and run, ducking clotheslines and right hands to hit kicks and dropkicks, before coming off the ropes... headscissor takedown... no! Lashley counters into a sitout facebuster, and the beatdown begins, with Lashley tossing Sydal to the corner and nailing big right hands before sending Sydal across and following in with a clothesline. Sydal slumps to the mat, but Lashley stays on the attack, scooping him up for a fallaway slam that sends Sydal under the bottom rope to the outside. The punishment continues, as Sydal is whipped into the steel steps before being dropped on the barricade and sent back into the ring. Lashley is warned by the ref about his actions, but he pays little attention, as he sends Sydal flying again with a release overhead belly-to-belly, with Lashley arrogantly going for a cover by placing a foot on Sydal’s chest, but only getting a 2 count. Sydal has to use the ropes to get back to his feet, prompting Lashley to laugh at him, before he grabs him and sends him off the ropes before hitting a big shoulderblock. The commentary team show a mix of emotions, with Coach loving every second and Cole pleading with Lashley to end it, but Lashley stays on the attack, sending Sydal to the corner and charging in for a spear... but Sydal uses the ropes to leap out of the way... sunset flip... 1... 2... Lashley kicks out, but Sydal bursts back to his feet, nailing Lashley with an enzuigiri before climbing to the top rope... double knee drop! Sydal finally has the upperhand, and he looks to hammer it home with... a diving neckbreaker! 1... 2... Lashley gets the shoulder up, but now the crowd believes Sydal can pull it off, as he again goes to the top rope... crossbody... no! Lashley catches him, and he goes for another fallaway slam... right into the ref! Both the ref and Sydal are down, but Lashley just carries on, dragging Sydal to his feet and nailing... the dominator! Sydal is out, but we’ve no ref... Cole: And the end is surely near now for Matt Sydal. Coach: JBL has got to be loving what he’s seeing here. Matt Sydal dared to stand against him, and JBL has punished him for it. Cole: Well it’s Bobby Lashley who has done the work and... this is despicable. Lashley is just taunting Sydal now, slapping him in the face, showing no respect whatsoever. Coach: He doesn’t need to respect him. There’s nothing in the rules that says you need to respect your opponent... Cole: Hey... it’s... it’s Rey Mysterio! Mysterio is making his way down to the ring! Coach: Now what the hell is he doing out here? He’s got no business being out here! Cole: Mysterio walking down the aisle, looking for some payback after... hey! Sydal from behind with a roll-up... 1... 2... Coach: No! Cole: 3! Matt Sydal beat Bobby Lashley (B-) Cole: Matt Sydal just beat Bobby Lashley! Coach: What the hell is this?! Mysterio just cost Lashley that match! He had no business being out here! Matt Hardy! And Matt, last week you successfully defended your title against Ted DiBiase. Matt, I know you requested this time for an interview, so what’s on your mind? Matt: What’s on my mind? I just want to make it clear to Ted DiBiase that he can flaunt his Daddy’s money all he wants, he can buy a million title shots if he likes, but he will never take this title away from me. You might have came into Smackdown and picked up a bunch of wins, but you’re stepping up a level when you face the United States Champion. What you gotta realise is... Cole: Oh! Ted DiBiase, just blindsided Matt Hardy! Coach: Yeah and now he’s laying a beatdown on him. Cole: C’mon, we need some officials in there to stop this! Coach: Wait a minute... he’s got the title... Cole: Oh! A sickening shot to the skull of Matt Hardy with the United States title! And now finally we’ve got some officials in to break it up. Coach: Well Matt Hardy wanted this interview to send a message to Ted DiBiase, but it looks like it’s the rookie that’s the one sending messages tonight. ------------------ Montel Vontavious Porter v Chavo Guerrero Chavo makes his first appearance for a couple of months, taking on MVP, who is looking to rebound from consecutive defeats to CM Punk and Christian. Chavo starts the match brightly, taking MVP down with armdrags and snap suplexes before connecting with uppercuts and a spinning headscissors, leaving MVP furious. Both men lock up again, and this time MVP gains the upperhand, hitting a knee to the gut and following with a hard clothesline. MVP then begins to stomp down on Chavo and driving his knee into Chavo’s face, before sending Chavo off the ropes and catching him with a snap overhead belly-to-belly for a 2 count. MVP then locks on a headlock and drives his knee repeatedly into Chavo’s head, before sending Chavo to the corner and following in with a big boot to the head, getting another near fall. The pounding of Chavo continues, with more boots and knees being aimed at his head, until MVP slams Chavo to the mat and comes off the ropes for the ballin’ elbow... no! Chavo rolls out of the way, and he now attacks, connecting with rights and lefts before sending MVP off the ropes and hitting a dropkick. MVP staggers to his feet, only for Chavo to connect with the three amigos and climb to the top rope, steady himself for... the frog splash... no! This time it’s MVP who rolls out of the way, and he quickly jumps to his feet as Chavo makes it to one knee... drive-by kick! MVP connects with the kick to the head, hooks the leg... 1... 2... 3. Montel Vontavious Porter beat Chavo Guerrero (B-) ------------------ Backstage, CM Punk is making his way to the ring, accompanied by Christian, that is until they run into JBL’s executive assistant Maryse and a posse of security guards... Maryse: Gentlemen... I’m sorry but you two are not walking down to the ring tonight. Christian: What? Punk: What are you talking about? I’ve got a match with JBL tonight. Maryse: Oui, you are going out there to defend your title tonight... but Christian... you are not. Christian: Oh really? So now JBL’s sending you to do his dirty work? Maryse: Well, I won’t be getting my hands dirty. But these gentlemen... they will be escorting you out of the arena right now. Christian: Oh yeah? I’d like to see them try. Punk: No... no it’s alright man. You don’t gotta fight ten security guards man. Just go... I’ll go myself. Christian: What? Punk: Trust me... I got this. Just go man... Christian: Alright... Maryse: Gentlemen, if you would please escort Christian out of the building. Bobby Lashley is at ringside, despite his earlier difficulties, and his presence is one that proves to be a distraction for Punk early on, as he constantly looks over his shoulder at him. Straight from the first tie-up, JBL uses his power and size to his advantage, driving Punk to the corner and delivering stiff elbows and rights to the head. JBL then locks on a headlock, until Punk sends him off the ropes, only for JBL to barrel Punk over with a shoulderblock. Punk is quickly back up, and he finally scores some offense with a series of kicks before coming off the ropes with a flying clothesline. Punk stays on the attack, nailing JBL with a roundhouse kick before climbing to the top rope... only for Lashley to get up on the apron, distracting Punk. This gives JBL the chance to recover, and he unbalances Punk before hitting a fallaway slam from the top rope for a 2 count. JBL now targets Punk’s spine, driving forearms and knees and sending Punk hard into the corner. Powerslams and backbreakers follow, before JBL locks on a bearhug, intent on squeezing the life out of the champion. Punk begins to fade, but he manages to stay in the match, eventually breaking the hold with elbows to the head. Punk then looks to build some offense, sending JBL to the corner, following in with a knee and coming out with a bulldog. More kicks to the chest follow, until Punk sends JBL off the ropes... reversal... Punk ducks his clothesline... wait, Punk has him up... GTS! Punk nails the GTS... but Lashley drags JBL outside before Punk can make the cover. Ever the fighting champion, Punk stays on the attack, going to the ropes... plancha takes out Lashley, but JBL dodged it... oh! Clothesline from hell on the outside! JBL nailed Punk, and now he’s... Cole: What the... what is JBL doing? Coach: Well he’s picking up a chair but... Cole: If he uses this then he’ll cause a disqualification and CM Punk will retain the title. Coach: Well... uh... Cole: JBL... lining Punk up, waiting for him to get back on his feet... oh! Coach: God what a shot! Cole: JBL just nailed CM Punk with a chair, and referee Charles Robinson is calling for the bell. Coach: Wait a second, wait... Cole: This match is over. JBL is enraged, and he continues his assault by tossing Punk back to the outside, allowing Lashley to drive him into the ringpost before he sends Punk shoulder first into the steel steps. Back in the ring, JBL hits a series of short arm clotheslines before he sends Punk off the ropes for... the clothesline from hell! JBL plants Punk, it’s gotta be over... 1... 2... Punk gets his foot on the rope! The commentary team can’t believe it, and neither can JBL or Lashley. Furious, JBL sends Punk to the corner and begins to unload with rights and lefts, then boots to the skull as Punk slumps to the mat. Lashley then climbs into the ring, and he joins his boss in destroying Punk, with the referee helpless due to the no-DQ stipulation. Eventually, Lashley drags Punk to his feet, holding him in place for JBL to nail him with a third clothesline from hell until... Cole: This is an absolute joke! How can JBL do this? Hey man, love the idea of Mysterio & Sydal teaming up to help CM Punk beat JBL. And in a strange way, that match has made me truly believe in Punk as the champion for the first time. I mean, I always felt he was a fine champion but now he feels like THE man, although I'm not sure why?! But it was a good match and love JBL being power crazy, I expect that's how he would be as a GM. And Christian attacking JBl was cool because it gives him that little hand up to the top which he would need because I think the IWC forget that the casual fan isn't as pro-Christian as them, which you seem to have acknowledged too by trying to put him in the big time to legitimise his return. Just as a thing I've noticed- doesn't Smakdown seem a bit short on big names? I mean Raw has Triple H, Jeff Hardy, John Cena, Chris Jericho, Shawn Michaels, Ken Kennedy, Randy Orton, Batista, The Undertaker etc whereas Smackdown sort of has the "B Mian Eventers", the likes of Rey, Christian, Punk, MVP, Bobby Lashley etc who I wouldn't expect to see at the top of Raw if they were moved over. Is that an intentional thing? Just wondering as it's the first time I noticed somewhat of a lack of real star power. And just a minute here, you pick me up on my Dougie Williams segment then do that one with Santino & Val?! I expected a "who else but Santino?!" cheesy narrative to come afterwards! Haha, I kid, I kid! Anyway, I enjoyed the show. Looking forward to the last bit of build before Armageddon.

Haha, I kid, I kid! Anyway, I enjoyed the show. Looking forward to the last bit of build before Armageddon.
Cheers for the comment buddy. I'll start with Christian. My opinion is that he needs to come with a big build, as he needs to be reastablished in the 'E after being away for so long. That's why I did the whole "mystery partner" thing for 3 weeks before Survivor Series, and why I played it as JBL making a huge money signing, to try and give Christian some credibility straight from the get go. As for Sydal and Mysterio, both of them are so talented stats wise in my game, so I really want to push them, especially Sydal. I have a scenario in mind for a few months down the line that'll really put him on the mat. As for Punk, I'm really hoping to establish him as a strong champion, and hopefully this storyline with JBL (which has a major twist invovled in it next week) will help me do that. The thing about Smackdown not having many big names stars - tbh, that is delibirate. As you know, I've always pushed Raw as the A show, the number one brand. Smackdown has a group of guys who I'm looking to build into credible main eventers. MVP had a long title reign over the summer, Punk is the current champ, and remember Edge is still a part of the roster. I'd like to think (much as I do with ECW) that if I ever make it to another draft, there's enough guys on Smackdown who I could move over to Raw and the could go in and make an impact straight away on the A show. Anyway, cheers for the comment!

I’m good ‘ol JR, Jim Ross, alongside Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler, we are coming to you live from Pittsburgh, PA just 6 days from what is sure to be an explosive Armageddon. King: JR, I can’t wait for Armageddon. We’ve got that huge fatal four way for the WWE Championship, and after what happened last week, the tension in that match could reach breaking point tonight! JR: Well it certainly was a bold move of Jeff Hardy, striking our general manager Shane McMahon in the head with a chair. King: Bold? I think it could be career suicide for Jeff. JR: We’ll just have to wait and see... Heroes by Motorhead plays out... JR: Well I was going to say we’ll have to wait and see what the reaction from Shane McMahon will be, but it doesn’t look like we’ll have to wait very long. Here comes our general manager now. King: Yeah but JR, this is one of the rare occasions I’ve seen Shane McMahon come out here along. I mean, there’s no Triple H, no Kenny, no Harry or TJ. JR: Shane looks in a foul mood right now. You have to think this is going to be bad news for Jeff Hardy... Shane: I’m out here for one reason... and that’s to address the actions last week of the WWE Champion, Jeff Hardy. Jeff... last week I put Randy Orton and John Cena in a match because I wanted to see John Cena removed from the equation this Sunday. I Randy Orton to beat Cena so badly, that he couldn’t even make it to Armageddon. Hell, if you think about Jeff, I was doing you a favour. I was trying to remove an element of the competition, I was trying to narrow the odds of you losing the title this Sunday. Granted, you are still going to lose the title to Triple H, but that wasn’t my concern at the time. But you had to stick your nose in, didn’t you Jeff? You had to do the right thing, you had to get involved. You gave Cena the win... and then... you hit me in the face with a steel chair. You struck me right between the eyes with a steel chair! Now Jeff, these idiots in the crowd might be cheering for you right now... but I guarantee they’re not going to be cheering tonight... or this Sunday. Tonight Jeff, you’re going to be involved in a match. Call it a little tune up for this Sunday. Call it... a practise match. You see Jeff, tonight it’s going to be you and your buddy John Cena... stepping into the ring... with three other guys. Unfortunately for you, those three other guys... are the future WWE Champion, Triple H... the current Intercontinental Champion... Kenny Dykstra... and the general manager of Monday Night Raw, yours truly... Shane O’Mac! That’s right Jeff, John, it’s going to be three on two. But I want you to understand this Jeff. Don’t for one second think that just because you helped John Cena last week that he won’t turn on you in a second and try and take your title. Jeff... tonight, you’re gonna realise that this Sunday at Armageddon, it’s not going to be Cena or Orton that beats you for the title... it’s going to be the Game, Triple H! JR: You gotta be kiddin’ me! Hardy and Cena taking on three members of Revolution? King: Well we knew the consequences of Jeff’s actions last week were going to be bad but... I never thought they would be this bad. ------------------- Randy Orton v Lance Cade We kick things off with Randy Orton, one of the competitors in the fatal four way this Sunday, in action against Lance Cade, who as always has Trevor Murdoch in his corner. Cade looks to attack as soon as the bell rings, sending Orton off the ropes and taking him down with shoulderblocks and clotheslines. Cade sends Orton to the corner, but as he charges in, Orton gets a boot up, catching Cade in the face before nailing a hard clothesline. Orton then begins to stomp all over Cade, dropping the elbow before sending Cade shoulder-first into the steel ringpost. Uppercuts follow until Cade is sent off the ropes, with Orton nailing a great dropkick before hitting a series of vicious forearms. Orton then locks on his customary chinlock, applying pressure to Cade, looking to wear him down. Murdoch tries to get the crowd to rally behind Cade, and eventually he struggles back to his feet, only for Orton to hit an inverted backbreaker, scoring a 2 count from it. Again another chinlock is put on, but this time Cade quickly counters out of it, getting a 2 count from a quick roll up before getting back to his feet and catching Orton with a bulldog. Cade looks to keep the pressure on, hitting right hands before nailing Orton with a vertical suplex for another 2 count. Cade then looks to climb to the top rope, but Orton pushes the referee into the ropes, sending Cade crashing to the mat. Cade struggles to get back to his feet, but as he makes it to his knees, Orton strikes... oh! The sickening punt to the head connects, and Murdoch can only watch as Orton makes the easy cover... 1... 2... 3. Jeff Hardy! And Jeff, earlier tonight we heard that you’ll need to step into the ring against three members of Revolution in a three on one handicap match. Jeff... how are you feeling about this and what does this mean for your chances of retaining your title this Sunday at Armageddon? Jeff: Shane McMahon can try stack the deck against me all he wants. I’ve overcome a lot in my career to get where I am today, to be the WWE Champion, and I’m not going to let Shane and Revolution put a stop to that. Tonight, I’ll step into that ring with Revolution, and I will... Cena: Look man, I don’t mean to interrupt but... I owe you one for last week. Jeff: Yeah I guess you do. Cena: I heard what Shane said earlier. And you know what? When he said that I’ll do whatever it takes to take that title from you this Sunday... he was right. I’ll give everything I got this Sunday to win that championship. Jeff: I wouldn’t expect anything less. Cena: But at the same time... I ahte Revolution just as much as you do. Shane’s put both of us through a lot of crap lately, and if we’re gonna make it to Armageddon... we gotta work together. We need to be on the same page tonight, or neither of us is going to have much of a chance this Sunday. Jeff: You want to be on the same page tonight? Fine. You want to help me beat Revolution tonight? I'm cool with that. But understand this Cena... I don’t need your help tonight... and I won’t need any help this Sunday to retain my title. I guarantee it. ------------------ Beth Phoenix, Mickie James and Candice Michelle v Melina, Natalya and Victoria The Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix leads Mickie James and Candice into action against Melina, Natalya and Victoria in a divas six woman tag match. Mickie and Melina get things started, with Mickie flying around the ring, taking Melina down with clotheslines before coming of the ropes with a Lou Thesz press, nailing a series of right hands before tagging in Phoenix. The champion continues the attack, scooping Melina up for a sidewalk slam for a 2 count before hitting a backbreaker and tagging in Candice. Candice looks to send Melina off the ropes, but as Melina reverses, Victoria drives her knee into Candice’s back, allowing Melina to hit a clothesline and tag in Natalya. Natalya now begins to punish Candice, dropping her with a chopblock before targeting her knee with a series of elbow drops. Melina, Victoria and Natalya isolate Candice, keeping her trapped in their corner and making plenty of tags, all the while working to soften up that knee. Victoria locks on a surfboard, causing more damage, but eventually Candice is able to break free, but she can only stagger, allowing Melina to get the tag and stop Candice bringing in Phoenix. Again the attack is focused on the knee, with Melina aiming kicks and knees before nailing the split-legged neckbreaker for a long 2 count. Melina then looks for the last call, but Candice counters into a back-body-drop, before crawling to her corner and bringing in Beth. Phoenix immediately cleans house, sending Victoria and Natalya out of the ring before getting a 2 count from Melina after hitting an electric chair. Mickie and Candice now take the fight to Victoria and Natalya, with all six women brawling in the ring. Beth and Melina brawl to the floor, and a clothesline takes both Victoria and Mickie over the top rope. Candice looks like she’ll pull out the win by going for the candywrapper on Natalya, but Natalya counters, sending Candice crashing to the floor and moving quickly to lock on... the sharpshooter! Natalya soon has Candice screaming in agony, and with Mickie down and Beth being double teamed on the outside, there’s no-one to save Candice and she has to tap. Primo: And that’s a shot at Jericho and Kennedy for the tag team titles. Carlito: We kept our part of the bargain last week. We saved the Intercontinental Title for Kenny last week, and we... Kenny: Whoa, what? You got these guys to watch my back last week? Shane: Look Kenny, I just got you a little bit of security, that’s all. Jericho took out Harry and TJ, I couldn’t take the risk of you losing that title right now. As for you two... you’re right. I did say I would give you guys a title shot if you saved the title for Kenny. And since I’m a man of my word... you guys’ll get your shot this Sunday at Armageddon. Primo: Alright, that’s cool. Carlito: Hey! Don’t steal my line. Primo: But it is cool... Carlito: Yeah but that doesn’t mean... Shane: Hey, hey! Enough! The initial tie-up sees Snitsky exert his power, pushing Finlay to the corner and the mat, but when he pushes Finlay off the ropes, the Irishman unloads with a series of stiff rights and uppercuts, but when he comes off the ropes again, Snitsky nails a huge boot to the face for a 2 count. Finlay is then sent to the corner, leading to Snitsky stomping away and driving the elbow to the head, pummelling Finlay before slamming Finlay to the mat and dropping the knee across the head for another close fall. Snitsky then sends Finlay again off the ropes, but Finlay slides under his boot, teeing off with right hands, staggering the big man and quickly going to the second rope... flying shoulderblock, but Snitsky stays on his feet... clothesline just staggers him... dropkick to the knee finally takes him down. Snitsky tries to get back up, but Finlay stays on him, hitting more rights and uppercuts before coming off the ropes... and running into a huge clothesline from Snitsky! Finlay is clearly hurt, and soon Snitsky scoops him up for the pumphandle slam... but Finlay fights it, locking on a sleeper, forcing Snitsky to back into the corner to break the hold. Snitsky hits more elbows to the head, before backing off to the opposite corner and charging in... but he misses with the boot! Snitsky staggers out of the corner, and when he does, Finlay has composed himself... he gets Snitsky up... Celtic cross! 1... 2... 3! Finlay beat Snitsky (C+) JR: This Sunday Finlay steps into the ring with Sheamus O’Shaunessy in a no holds barred match, and he was all business tonight against Snitsky. King: And it’s going to take that kind of effort for Finlay to win at Armageddon. I mean Sheamus already holds two victories over... JR: Wait a minute... here comes Sheamus O’Shaunessy and Mark Henry down to the ring. King: JR, what business does Mark Henry have getting involved in this? JR: I still don’t know. I hope we find out this Sunday. King: Finlay has his shillelagh in hand, he’s waiting for them. JR: Sheamus and Henry stepping into the ring... and here comes Finlay! Finlay with shillelagh shots to both Henry and Sheamus! King: Finlay’s managing to fight them off... JR: Oh! From behind, Henry with a shot to the head. The numbers game is just too much for Finlay. King: And look at these two go to work on... wait, here comes Henry... JR: Oh! Jericho, Wilson, Primo and Apolo are all at ringside, and the tension inside the ring is replicated outside. Harry and Carlito decide early on that they should team up to target Kennedy, but Kennedy fights them both off with a flurry of rights and kicks, before dropping Harry with a forward Russian legsweep for an early 2 count. Carlito now goes after Kennedy, hitting armdrags and neckbreakers, only for Harry to come from behind and nail a German suplex for another 2 count. Kennedy is eventually sent to the outside, but before anyone can land any cheap shots, Jericho is over to check on his partner. In the ring, Carlito and Harry go at it, with Carlito using his athleticism to connect with a snap neckbreaker and a springboard moonsault. Kennedy is back into the ring, and he gains the upperhand by catching Harry with a snap DDT and nailing Carlito with an enzuigiri, gaining another 2 count. Harry is back up, and he looks to take control, scooping Kennedy up for the running powerslam... but Kennedy drops to his feet, sending Harry into the corner, and as he turns, he catches Carlito charging at him, scooping him on his shoulders... Green Bay plunge! Kennedy plants Carlito, hooks the leg... 1... 2... Harry makes the save. The action is frantic, until Harry is sent over the top rope, landing at the feet of Jericho. Harry immediately gets in Jericho’s face, leading to TJ trying to gain a cheap shot on Jericho... but TJ’s flying clothesline connects with Primo by accident, leading to Apolo getting involved. Pretty soon all five men on the outside begin trading right hands, and with Kennedy seeing his partner outnumbered, he goes to the ropes to check on him, only for Carlito to come up from behind... backstabber! Carlito connects, and with Harry brawling on the floor, he quickly hooks the leg... 1... 2... 3. Orton: What am I doing here? I’m here to give you a little message Hardy. You see, I’ll be watching your match tonight with Cena against Revolution, and I’ll be watching for every little mistake you make. I’ll be looking for every little error, because I know you will make mistakes Hardy, and I’m going to take full advantage this Sunday when I pin you for the WWE Title. Jeff: Oh yeah? What, just like I made mistakes at Survivor Series? Funny, I seem to recall I beat you that night. Orton: Survivor Series was a fluke. You got lucky, you rammed my head into an exposed turnbuckle. That won’t happen this Sunday. This Sunday, I will be the WWE Champion again. Jeff: We’ll see Orton. But I promise you this... you get involved in my match tonight... you won’t make it to this Sunday. You get involved in any way... and your Armageddon will happen tonight! Orton: You better watch your mouth Hardy. I got no problem in taking you out of the equation tonight. Just like I did all those months ago on the Raw before my title shot at Cena... Harris looks to take the fight to Batista early on, but the Animal is having none of it, scooping Harris up and driving him to the corner, driving his shoulder into the gut before sending Harris crashing to the opposite corner with a hard Irish whip. Batista charges in, but a drop-toe-hold gives Harris an opening, and he aims kicks and right hands to the head before low-bridging Batista, sending the Animal crashing to the floor. Harris connects with a baseball slide, but as he takes the fight to the outside, Batista drives him spine first into the barricade then the ringpost, before rolling Harris back into the ring for a 2 count. The pace of the match slows right down as Batista takes control again, targeting Harris’ spine with forearms, backbreakers and powerslams, before sending Harris off the ropes... spinebuster... no! Harris counters into a DDT... 1... 2... Batista gets the shoulder up. Harris again looks to build offense, catching Batista with a bulldog before climbing to the top rope... elbow drop connects! 1... 2... again Batista powers out. Harris looks to stay on the attack, but his Irish whip attempt is reversed... spear! Batista nails a thunderous spear, and with Harris crumpelled on the mat, the Animal drags him to his feet for... the Batista-bomb! Batista plants Harris, goes for the cover... 1... 2... 3. Batista beat Chris Harris (B-) King: I don’t know about you JR, but ever since Survivor Series, Batista has looked unstoppable to me. JR: No doubt that the Animal has a new attitude, a new approach on things now and he... King: Hey! What the...? JR: It’s Shawn Michaels! Michaels came through the crowd! King: Batista doesn’t know he’s standing behind him! JR: Turn around Batista... sweet chin music! Sweet chin music! HBK strikes from behind! Batista never saw it coming! King: Well we know this Sunday these two are going to face each other... and I think HBK just struck a huge blow ahead of that match. ------------------- JR: Welcome back to Monday Night Raw folks. Up next, our main event, Triple H, Shane McMahon and Kenny Dykstra taking on Jeff Hardy and John Cena in a handicap match. King: And what we've heard during the vening, I'm interested to see if Hardy and Cena can work together and stay on the same page tonight. JR: I dunno if Hardy and Cena can... I HEAR VOICES IN MY HEAD... King: What? JR: Well that’s obviously Randy Orton making his way down to the ring but... King: But why? JR: Last week we were joined by on commentary by Shane McMahon, and it looks like tonight we’ll be joined by the legend killer. King: Uh... Randy, welcome. Uh... can we ask what you’re doing out here? Orton: I think it should be obvious what I’m doing out here King. I’m out here to see my competition for this Sunday. King: Alright, I guess that makes sense. JR: Just make sure you stay behind the desk Orton... Cena obliges, and Triple H and Cena start the match in heated fashion, exchanging hard right hands until Cena against the advantage, sending Trips off the ropes and hitting a flying shoulderblock. Trips is slow back to his feet, but as both men tie-up again, the Game gets the upperhand, driving Cena to his corner and hitting right hands to the gut, driving the shoulder and tagging in Dykstra. Kenny looks to continue the Game’s work, but after Dykstra hits right hands, he goes for an Irish whip, only for Cena to reverses it and send Dykstra flying with a back-body-drop. Dykstra is quickly back-up, but Cena catches him with a sitout hiptoss, before coming off the ropes for... the five knuckle shuffle! Cena gets a 2 count, before tagging in Jeff, who takes the fight to Dykstra, connecting with a sitout jawbreaker and a double legdrop to the groin before driving Kenny to the corner with right hands, going for an Irish whip... reversal... Jeff to the top rope... whisper in the wind! 1... 2... Shane McMahon makes the save, but Jeff quickly tags in Cena. Cena looks to stay on Kenny, but a cheap shot from the Game gives Revolution the advantage, as Kenny connects with a swinging neckbreaker and tags in Shane. The GM is as arrogant as ever, teeing off with the Shane O’Mac shuffle, and a series of elbows and knees to the head, bringing the Game back into things. The tags follow as Revolution focus on Cena, with Triple H doing most of the damage, nailing spinebusters, knees to the face and clotheslines before locking on an abdominal stretch. Shane distracts the ref, allowing Kenny to his cheap slaps to the face, but the crowd manages to rally Cena, and he breaks the hold with a hiptoss, before crawling to his corner and bring Hardy back into things. The WWE Champion explodes into the ring, taking down Kenny and Trips before sending Shane flying off the apron. Cena then goes to work on Kenny while Hardy and the Game go at it, with Kenny tasting a one-handed bulldog and Hardy hitting the leg-feed mule kick. Cena brawls with Dykstra on the outside, infront of the announce desk where Cena scoops Kenny up onto his shoulders... and FU’s him through the announce desk! Orton has a great view of this, and he rises to his feet... leading to Cena and Orton trading hands! Back in the ring, Triple H and Shane get the advantage over Hardy, and pretty soon Jeff is in position in the corner, leading to Shane climbing to the top rope for... coast to coast... no! Hardy rolls out of the way, and he quickly jumps to his feet... but Trips hits a kick to the gut... pedigree... no! Jeff counters with a back-body-drop, and as the Game gets back up, Jeff strikes... twist of fate! The twist of fate sends Triple H rolling to the floor, but Jeff sees Shane still down, and with Kenny and Triple H down, Cena and Orton brawling through the crowd, the WWE Champion climbs to the top rope... swanton bomb! Jeff connects, hooks the leg... 1... 2... 3! Jeff Hardy and John Cena beat Shane McMahon, Triple H and Kenny Dykstra (B+) JR: Yes! They did it! Hardy and Cena beat Revolution! Hello everyone, I’m Joey Styles alongside former ECW Champion Tazz, and Tazz, the ECW Championship could quite easily change hands this Sunday. Tazz: Absolutely right. This Sunday, the ECW Champion Kurt Angle puts the gold on the line against the undefeated Colt Cabana and the... well, the eerie Kane. I mean, in recent weeks, we’ve seen a new Kane, a Kane who looks like at any moment he could snap. If it happens this Sunday, it could be bad news for Cabana and Angle, and the ECW Title. Styles: We could be just days away from a new ECW Champion... but not if this man has anything to do with it. Here comes the ECW Champion Kurt Angle! Tazz: He looks focused, he looks confident... but I’m still not sure whether or not Kurt Angle will still be ECW Champion this time next week. Styles: Well let’s hear what he has to say... Angle: This Sunday, I’m putting my ECW Title on the line in a triple threat match. A match where I don’t even have to pinned to lose my belt. A match where the champion is at a disadvantage. But you know what? This is my ECW Championship! ECW is my house! I don’t care if you’re undefeated... I don’t care if you’re crazy as hell... nobody’s gonna take this title away from me! Cabana... Kane... at Armageddon, you two are stepping into the ring with the greatest technical wrestler in this company’s history. You’re stepping into the ring with an Olympic gold medallist! I’ve worked too damn hard to let my ECW Title reign end now. And this Sunday, I’ll... Styles: Wait a minute... wait, that’s Mick Foley’s music! The ECW general manager is making his way out here. Tazz: Well... uh, I don’t know what Mick Foley’s gotta say. I mean, the match has been signed for weeks for this Sunday so... Styles: Well let’s find out... Foley: Kurt... while I admire your spirit here tonight... I gotta interrupt you for a second. You see, I, like you I’m sure, am really looking forward to Armageddon this Sunday. I think the triple threat match for the ECW Title is gonna be a hell of a match! I can’t wait to see it... and that’s why I’ve decided to have a little preview here tonight. You see Kurt, I heard what you said about the fact that you feel you’ve got the better of both Kane and Colt Cabana... well, I want to find out just which one of them is gonna cause you the biggest threat this Sunday. That’s why, tonight, it’s going to be... Kane and Colt Cabana... one on one! Styles: Wow! What a huge main event that’s gonna be! Tazz: Could Colt Cabana lose his undefeated streak tonight? I mean, Kane’s been on a roll since he came back. Foley: I know that’s gonna be a great match to see too, and I’m... Angle: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Kane and Cabana tonight? What about me? Foley: What about you Kurt? I mean, I thought you’d want the night off. Considering your medical history, I think taking the night off before a pay-per-view is... Angle: Wait a second, wait a second... you think I need the night off? You think I’m hurt or something Foley? I’m the goddamn ECW Champion! I don’t take nights off! I’ll fight anybody, anywhere! Hell, why don’t we bring the triple threat match forward a few days and have it tonight?! Tazz: No way! Styles: Surely Mick Foley’s not going to agree to that? Foley: You know what Kurt? As much as I’d love to see you, Cabana and Kane have your match tonight... it’s not going to happen. But you want to be involved tonight Kurt? You want to be in the same ring as Cabana and Kane tonight? Angle: You bet your ass I do! Foley: Then how about this? Why don’t we have... Colt Cabana... one on one... with Kane... and you Kurt... you can be... the special guest referee! Angle: Me as the referee? I like the sounds of that. Foley: Good, I’m glad. Have a nice day Kurt! Tazz: You gotta be kiddin’ me! Cabana and Kane... with Angle as the special guest ref? Styles: What a main event that could turn out to be! ------------------ Umaga v The Boogeyman Two weeks removed from being locked in an ambulance by Kane, Umaga makes his return to ECW, stepping into the ring with the bizarre Boogeyman. The initial moments of the match involved a long staredown between the two, which is noted more for the comedy value rather than any tension. Eventually Umaga strikes with a hard right hand, and the match is underway, with the Samoan dominating, sending Boogey to the corner and following in with a splash. Boogeyman slumps to the mat, but when Umaga comes off the ropes for a flying headbutt, Boogey rolls out of the way, allowing him to get back to his feet and mount an attack, stomping down on Umaga before hitting an axe-handle across the back and sending Umaga to the corner... only for Umaga to explode out and nail Boogey with a clothesline as he charges in. Umaga then props Boogeyman’s head up on the bottom turnbuckle, before going to the opposite corner and charging in... oh! The Samoan wrecking ball connects as Boogeyman’s head snaps back off the turnbuckle, and Umaga goes for the cover... 1... 2... no! Boogeyman somehow kicks out, leading to Umaga storm to his feet and get in the referee’s face. Estrada pleads for his client to turn around, as while he’s berating the ref, Boogeyman is back on his feet... and he has a handful of worms! Eventually Umaga turns around, only for Boogey to throw the worms in his face! Umaga staggers around the ring, allowing Boogey to come off the ropes... flying shoulderblock! Boogeyman has Umaga rattled, and he now looks to go for the win... pumphandle slam... no! Boogeyman’s legs buckle under him as he goes for the move, seeing Umaga drop flat on top of him. The Samoan quickly drags Boogey back to his feet, and he wastes little time in going for... the Samoan spike! Umaga nails Boogey, hooks the leg... 1... 2... 3... and returns to ECW with a commanding win. Umaga beat The Boogeyman (C+) ------------------- Backstage, Anastacia Rose is standing by with... Rose: Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my guest at this time, he is the Cruiserweight Champion... The Brian Kendrick! And Brian, this Sunday you put your title on the line in a ladder match with Smackdown’s Paul London. Brian, do you think you can retain your title? The Kendrick: Listen toots, try and understand me when I say this. Paul London has already had two shots at me and my title. And guess what? Both times, he failed to take my title away. And before you say it, no, it wasn’t because of any outside interference, it wasn’t because of Rodimer... it was because, quite frankly... I’m better than Paul London will ever be. I mean, we were the longest ever reigning tag team champions in Smackdown history. But it was me who did all the work in that team. I carried Paul London for all those months. And this Sunday at Armageddon... I’ll prove to you, I’ll prove to everybody at home... and I’ll prove it to Paul London... that I’m better than him. --------------------- Balls Mahoney v Mike Knox ECW original Balls Mahoney is in action, as always accompanied by Stevie Richards, as he steps into the ring with Mike Knox. Last week Knox lost to Shelton Benjamin, but in the post match, Knox laid Benjamin out with the Knox-out, and he starts this match in the same fashion, nailing Mahoney with clubbing forearms and boots to the face to take control early. Balls manages to score some offense when he reverses an Irish whip to the corner, following in with a clothesline and climbing to the second rope to rain down with a series of right hands. Mahoney then slams Knox to the mat and returns to the second rope, but Knox rolls out of the way of a legdrop, before returning to his feet and nailing Mahoney with a bicycle kick for a 2 count. Knox then looks to pile on the pressure, driving his knee into Mahoney’s gut, sending him off the ropes for a spinebuster before locking on a chinlock and squeezing down on Mahoney. Balls looks like he fading away, but Richards bangs the mat and the crowd begins to rally. Mahoney struggles back to his feet, breaking the hold with elbows to the gut, coming off the ropes with shoulderblocks before getting a 2 count from a sidewalk slam. Mahoney then scoops Knox up and slams him to the mat, before he climbs to the top rope and steadies himself... big splash... no! Knox rolls out of the way, and as Balls staggers to his feet, Knox strikes... Knox-out! 1... 2... 3. Mike Knox beat Balls Mahoney (C-) Styles: Well in recent weeks, we’ve seen a dangerous attitude from Mike Knox, and we just saw it again tonight. Tazz: Right. I mean, last week when he lost to Shelton Benjamin, he destroyed Benjamin after the bell, he just destroyed Balls Mahoney tonight. You gotta think that Mike Knox is... Styles: Hey! It’s Shelton Benjamin! He’s taking the fight to Knox! Tazz: A brawl just broke out here between these two! Styles: Benjamin swinging with right hands... a clothesline takes both men to the floor! Tazz: Look at these two! They’re fighting up the ramp and... Styles: Finally we’ve got some officials out here to stop this. Tazz: It took an army of referees and officials to separate these two but... man Shelton Benjamin is pissed! He’s looking for revenge from Mike Knox! ----------------- We immediately cut to the boiler-room, where an eerie red glow fills the air. The image of Kane emerging from the shadows is accompanied by a menacing laugh... Kane: Hahaha! Armageddon... hahaha... a night when the flames rise and the final battle shall commence. Hahaha... I like flames. Tonight... Colt Cabana... your Armageddon shall fall! And then this Sunday... the flames will rise around Kurt Angle’s ECW Title reign. I will become the ECW Champion... and then... I will burn ECW to the ground! Hahaha! Styles: God these... these interviews with Kane just get stranger by the week. Tazz: Yeah but, if you ask Kane about them, he doesn’t remember saying them. Something’s seriously with wrong with that guy. I think he needs some help... ------------------- John Morrison and Tommy Dreamer v The Empire After their losing appearance to Kurt Angle and Colt Cabana last week, The Empire return to ECW for a non-title match against WWE Tag Team Champions John Morrison and Tommy Dreamer. With William Regal and Katie Lea in the British corner and Kelly Kelly supporting boyfriend John Morrison, the area around the ring is crowded as the match starts, with Morrison and Burchill matching up. Morrison starts the match at a fast pace, using his agility to avoid Burchill’s power game, connecting with flying forearms, a Russian legsweep and a step-up enzuigiri. Dreamer then gets the tag, and the veteran begins to target Burchill’s shoulder, winding his arm up, wrenching away at it and slamming Burchill to the mat and driving the knee. Dreamer then looks for a neckbreaker, but Burchill is able to reverse into a jawbreaker, following that up with a clothesline and a tag to McIntyre. McIntyre goes to work on Dreamer, pinning Dreamer in his corner with boots and fists to the gut, charging in with a knee to the head before sending Dreamer through the ropes to the floor. Burchill and McIntyre then do their best to distract Morrison and the ref, allowing Regal to strike with a sick knee to the skull, before leaving Dreamer down as the ref begins to count. The referee makes it to 7 before Dreamer shows signs of life... 8... 9... Dreamer beats the count, but McIntyre goes right back to work with a flurry of knees and elbows to the back, before bringing in Burchill. Several tags between The Empire follow, as Burchill and Dreamer begin to wear Dreamer down, getting close falls from an overhead belly-to-belly by Burchill and a missile dropkick from McIntyre. Burchill then scoops Dreamer up for his torture rack, and the end looks near as McIntyre climbs to the top rope... legdrop connects! A great double team move from The Empire, and surely it’s over... 1... 2... no! Dreamer somehow kicks out, and McIntyre can’t believe it. He again rains down with right hands, but when he sends Dreamer off the ropes, Dreamer ducks his clothesline... neckbreaker! Dreamer drops McIntyre and slowly crawls to his corner... and tags in Morrison! Morrison flies into the ring, connecting with a springboard clothesline and knocking Burchill off the apron before nailing McIntyre with a roundhouse kick and going for... the split-legged corkscrew moonsault! 1... 2... Burchill makes the save, but Morrison quickly gains the upperhand and connects with... the moonlight drive! Here’s the cover... but Katie Lea has the ref distracted! Kelly Kelly springs to action, pulling Katie off the apron and taking her down, leading to screams of “Catfight!” from Styles. Back in the ring, Morrison sends McIntyre over the top rope, but when he and Dreamer go for a double team move, Regal grabs Morrison by the foot and drags him to the floor, and Burchill ducks Dreamer’s clothesline... and connects with the jumping neckbreaker! Morrison nails Regal with a right hand, but the distraction has worked as Burchill goes for the cover... 1... 2... 3. The Empire steals a win from the champs, guaranteeing themselves a title shot in the near future. The Empire beat John Morrison and Tommy Dreamer (C+) -------------------- Backstage, Kurt Angle is in his dressing room, putting on the stripes for his refereeing job tonight, when he’s confronted by Colt Cabana... Angle: What are you doing in here Cabana? Colt: Look Kurt, I don’t really have a problem with you man. I mean, I teamed up with you last week, we did alright. As far as I’m concerned, all I’m doing is chasing the ECW Championship. There’s nothing personal between us... Angle: And? Colt: Well, since you’re the special guest referee for my match tonight... and as you know, I’m still undefeated... let’s just say, I hope you don’t give me a reason to dislike you tonight. Angle: What do you mean by that? Colt: Look Kurt... all I’m asking is that you call this match down the line tonight. Call this match fair, and me and you won’t have any problems. Angle: Whoa, wait a second... are you questioning my integrity Cabana? Cause that’s a pretty big thing with me. Integrity... Colt: Intensity and intelligence. Yeah I remember. Angle: Good. Listen Colt, I will call this match 100% down the middle tonight. You don’t have to worry about me. Colt: I better not... or else me and you are gonna have more at stake this Sunday than just your title. Angle: Relax Cabana... your streak’s safe with me. ------------------ Colt Cabana v Kane The tensions between the three men is clearly evident as Angle calls for the bell, with neither Kane nor Cabana particularly thrilled to see the ECW Champion in the stripes. Kane quickly puts Angle aside and concentrates on Cabana, tossing Cabana to the corner and connecting with a series of uppercuts before a hard Irish whip and following in with a clothesline. It’s all Kane in the early goings, as he sends Cabana off the ropes for a big boot, follows in with a low-angle dropkick and then drops the elbow for a 2 count. Cabana manages to score some offense, connecting with a headscissors before going for a springboard moonsault... only for Kane to catch him in mid-air, before hitting a huge running powerslam for another 2 count. Kane then goes for a legdrop but misses, allowing Cabana to put together a string of moves, aiming kicks at Kane’s chest, sending him to the corner and following in with a knee to the head and coming out the corner with a bulldog for a 2 count. So far the presence of Angle hasn’t affected the match, with his covers being fair, until Kane goes for a clothesline and Cabana ducks... with Kane stopping himself just in time before nailing Angle! A tense stand-off between the two briefly takes place, before Cabana comes from behind with a roll-up... 1... 2... Kane kicks out, and he quickly gets to his feet to flatting Colt with a big boot. It looks as if Kane is about to end things, as he stands awaiting Cabana returning to his feet, right hand ready for... the chokeslam... no! Colt breaks the grip with a kick to the gut, before coming off the ropes... baseball slide under a boot... victory roll... 1... 2... again Kane kicks out, but this time it’s Cabana who stays on the attack, hitting right hands before sending Kane off the ropes... reversal... flying clothesline! 1... 2... again Kane kicks out, but Cabana looks to stay on the attack, climbing to the top rope... legdrop connects! It’s all Cabana now, and he drags Kane to his feet, looking for the Colt .45... but Kane counters with a back-body-drop, and when Cabana finally staggers to his feet, Kane is ready... chokeslam! Kane nails the chokeslam, and Cabana’s undefeated streak is all but over... 1... 2... Angle doesn’t count 3! Angle feigns injury to his shoulder, and Kane is furious, rising to his feet and getting in Angle’s face! Again the tension between the two is evident, but as Kane turns his attentions back to Cabana, Angle makes his move... Styles: Angle slam! Angle slam to Kane! Tazz: What the hell?! Styles: Here comes Cabana... Angle slam! Tazz: Kurt Angle just laid out both his challengers for this Sunday! Here comes CM Punk! Coach: He would have something to do with this wouldn’t he? I bet he’s the ringleader behind all of this, whatever it is. Cole: CM Punk has the microphone, let’s try find out what’s going on here... Punk: I know everybody out there is wondering what the hell all these superstars are doing in the ring right now. As of this moment, myself and every person in this ring right now... are on strike! We’ve had enough. We deserve better. We’re drawling a line right now, and we are not leaving this ring until JBL comes out here and meets our demands. Coach: What the hell is this? These idiots can’t come out here on strike. Cole: Why not? Coach: Well... I dunno why, but they just can’t! Punk: JBL... we’re sick and tired of you throwing your weight around as the general manager of Smackdown. JBL, you’ve taken this brand into battle with ECW, a battle nobody on this show wanted to be involved in. You picked a fight with ECW, based on your own selfishness. Now, you’re walking around giving yourself title shots, title shots that you never earned, and that you don’t deserve. And you know what JBL? We’re not going to stand for this anymore. Last week, myself and Christian tried to get in touch with Vince McMahon. Unfortunately, Vince was overseas on business. But during the week, we got in touch with Vince... and he invited us out to his offices in Stamford. We sat down with Vince... and with the support of the rest of the Smackdown superstars... we told Vince... we’re not wrestling another match with you as general manager. Cole: Wow. The Smackdown roster is refusing to wrestle unless JBL is removed as general manager. Coach: How can they do this? How is this even legal!? Cole: Well I assume Vince McMahon agreed... wait a minute, here comes the white limo. Coach: Finally. JBL is gonna be furious about all of this! Cole: And there you see, following the boss out of the limo, his executive assistant Maryse and his enforcer Bobby Lashley. That’s a lot of people stepping out of that limo. Coach: Shut up Cole! JBL’s about to talk... JBL: My, my... CM Punk. What am I going to do with you? Huh? I mean, you gather all these idiots in the ring... and you start shouting orders and demands at me. When are you gonna realise boy, that just because you’ve got that World Heavyweight Title around your waist, that does not give you any authority around here. I am the law! What I say goes, regardless of what you people want. And right now, I am going to lay down the law as I see it. First things first... Rey Mysterio... Matt Sydal... listen up juniors. You two want to get involved in my business? You want to interfere in my World Heavyweight Championship match last week? Quite frankly, I find that unacceptable. So this Sunday... you Mysterio... you will step into the ring at Armageddon... against Bobby Lashley. You will learn Mysterio... that you don’t get involved in my business without suffering the consequences. And as for you Punk... I don’t give a damn about your little strike... you are going to compete tonight. You’re going to compete... against me, for the World Heavyweight Championship. And just to make sure there’s no distractions like last week... we’re going to fight inside a steal cage! Cole: Oh you gotta be kiddin’ me! JBL, you gave himself a title shot last week, then changed the match to a no-DQ match half through, is giving himself another title shot tonight? Coach: Of course! He was robbed last week. Mysterio and Sydal had no business being involved. A cage match guarantee’s that JBL is gonna win the title tonight. Cole: And what about the announcement that Mysterio and Lashley are gonna go one on one this Sunday? Coach: Well Rey Mysterio is obviously going to have to learn the hard way, and that’s what Bobby Lashley is gonna do. JBL: Now... I want each and every one of you in that ring to drag your asses backstage and get ready to go to work. Christian: Hey! JBL! You never gave CM Punk a chance to finish what he was saying. You see, when we sat down to talk to Vince McMahon... we explained to him all about your record as general manager. We explained about taking us in to battle with ECW... we explained about you handing yourself title shots... but we also explained about... how did the lawyers describe again? Oh yeah that’s right... gross misconduct unbefitting of your position. You see JBL... I explained all about the fact that I signed a contract with you, guaranteeing me a World Heavyweight Title shot. A legally binding contract, that you decided to tear up. And when I explained all this to Vince... I also told him, that unless I received my title shot at Armageddon... I was going to sue you... and I was going to sue the WWE! And you know what JBL? Vince was much more accommodating than you, and I will face the World Heavyweight Champion at Armageddon! Cole: Alright! Christian is gonna get his title shot at Armageddon! Coach: Well even if he does, it’s not going to be against CM Punk, it’s going to be against JBL. Punk: And there was something else we explained to Vince McMahon, that he found particularly upsetting. I’m sure you remember it JBL. A young man stood in this ring right now, came to you with an offer. A proposition, that he would buy a United States Championship title shot from you. Of course, I’m talking about Ted DiBiase. Young Teddy here, he just wanted to step up the ladder. He just wanted his shot at glory. And when he flashed the cash under your nose... you were more than happy to oblige JBL. Well guess what? Vince McMahon was pretty shocked when he heard about that. So shocked, that he told me and CM Punk... that he would be here tonight to give you what he called... an employee evaluation. And when Vince gets here... I don’t think it’s going to be favourable for you. JBL: Enough! I’ve listened to enough of this! I don’t care if Vince McMahon is gonna be here tonight, I don’t care what he has to say! Smackdown is my show! Now... I am going to make this real simple for all of you in that ring. You will compete tonight... you will put on a show tonight... or I will fine each and every one of you! Just think about it guys... I can fine you all one month’s salary. No money for you... no money for your family... no money to put food on your table, no money to do anything! If anybody wants to continue this little strike... then by all means, go home now. Walk up this ramp, grab your things and leave the arena. But I promise anybody who does... you won’t be feeding your kids for a while. Anybody? Anybody wants to stay on strike, anybody who doesn’t want to compete tonight... walk up this ramp, and walk straight out the door. No? No... I thought not. Now, all of you... get your asses to work. Punk... I’ll see you in that ring later tonight. And I promise you... even Vince McMahon won’t be able to save that title for you. Cole: What a huge way to kick off Smackdown! Vince McMahon is on his way to the arena, and he’s going to give JBL an employee evaluation, and I can’t imagine it’s going be good. Coach: Why not? JBL has been the best general manager in this show’s history. Vince McMahon would be crazy to remove JBL from office. -------------------- Billy Kidman v Jake Hager Undefeated newcomer Jake Hager is in action again tonight, bringing his amateur style to the ring to compete with the high-flying Billy Kidman. Hager starts the match in impressive fashion, using a waistlock to take Kidman down and going for a variety of headlocks and shoulderlocks. When both men return to their feet, Hager again displays his impressive amateur background, hitting an overhead belly-to-belly, following with clotheslines and bodyslams before getting a 2 count from a bridging German. Hager looks to continue his attack, but his overhead belly-to-back sees Kidman landing on his feet, catching Hager with a neckbreaker to gain control. Kidman then shows an aggressive streak, stomping down on Hager, driving his knee into his head before mounting the rookie and hammering down with hard right hands. Kidman then looks to send Hager to the corner, but the youngster reverses... and runs into a boot, allowing Kidman to go to the second rope... diving neckbreaker. 1... 2... Hager gets the shoulder up, but Kidman stays on him, returning to the neck with a headscissors. Kidman squeezes down on Hager, but eventually Hager counters into a bridging pin for a 2 count. Both men are quickly back up, with Hager connecting with a clothesline before sending Kidman off the ropes... kick to the gut... gutwrench powerbomb... no... Kidman counters... sitout facebuster! 1... 2... Hager kicks out! Kidman is enraged, but he begins to climb to the top rope for the shooting star press... only for Hager to push him, causing Kidman to lose his balance. Hager then climbs to the second rope for... a suplex off the top! Hager plants Kidman, drags him to his feet and nails... the gutwrench powerbomb! 1... 2... 3! Jake Hager beat Billy Kidman (C-) -------------------- Cole: Ladies and gentlemen, we have Josh Matthews standing by in parking lot, awaiting the arrival of Mr McMahon. Josh is there any sign of Vince McMahon so far? Josh: So far we there is no sign of Mr McMahon. I will be here in the parking lot until Mr McMahon arrives tonight, so I will continue to update you guys on the arrival of the WWE chairman. But as of right now, there is no news of Mr McMahon. Back to you guys... ------------------- Backstage, JBL is in a crisis meeting with Bobby Lashley... Lashley: What are we gonna do boss? I mean, Vince McMahon is on his way here. You could be fired! JBL: You think I don’t know that? You think that hasn’t been on my mind all week? Lashley: Yeah but boss, if you... wait a second... all week? You knew about all this? You knew Vince was gonna be here tonight? JBL: Of course I knew. I have my spies back in Stanford Lashley. And don’t worry, Vince McMahon will not be here tonight. Lashley: But Punk said that... JBL: I know what Punk said, I was there! But if there is one weakness in every human being... it’s money. And since I managed to find out that Vince McMahon was arriving at the arena by limo tonight... I managed to persuade Vince’s limo driver to get himself a little lost tonight. Lashley: You paid off Vince’s limo driver? JBL: Yes, I paid off Vince’s limo driver. Like I said, Vince won’t be here tonight. As for this Sunday... well, we’ll deal with that when it happens. But tonight, I don’t want any mistakes. I want that World Heavyweight Championship around my waist by the time we hit Armageddon. Lashley: Yeah but... what about Christian? JBL: Well that’s where you... and this man right here come into the equation. Regal: JBL... I understand you wish to have a word with me? JBL: That’s right I do. Now listen, I want those three misfits Christian, Mysterio and Sydal out of commission before my match with Punk. So what I want is for you Lashley to team with Regal’s boys Burchill and McIntyre to put the three of them out of action. Lashley: You got it boss. JBL: And Mr Regal... should your team perform this task to a suitable standard... you will be of course handsomely rewarded. Regal: Well... it’s always a pleasure doing business with you JBL. JBL: I thought so... ------------------ Jesse Dalton v Ted DiBiase Ted DiBiase is in action, one week after his vicious attack of United States Campion Matt Hardy. Jesse Dalton steps into the ring with him, with big Festus by his side, as the unusual rednecks look for a rare win tonight. Unfortunately for Jesse, DiBiase starts the match strongly, taking Funaki down with a waistlock before nailing him with hard forearms to the head. DiBiase then drops a fist across the face and locks on a chinlock, as the youngster looks to dominate early. Jesse battles back to his feet, breaking the hold with elbows to the gut before coming off the ropes with a shoulderblock. Jesse connects with a dropkick, but DiBiase quickly retreats to the corner to regroup, only for Jesse to follow in and send him across... reversal from DiBiase... he charges in... but Jesse gets a foot up and bounces to the second rope... bulldog! 1... 2... DiBiase gets the shoulder up. The match swings back in DiBiase’s favour when he manages to toss Jesse shoulder first into the turnbuckle, dropping him with a chopblock and again going to work with the boots before getting a 2 count from Russian legsweep. DiBiase then rises to his feet and waits for Jesse, looking to lock on the million dollar dream... but Jesse counters with a jawbreaker, before climbing to the second rope... diving legdrop... no! DiBiase avoids the contact, and this time he makes no mistakes... million dollar dream! DiBiase has it locked in tight, and Festus can only watch as Jesse slowly fades and the referee calls for the bell. Ted DiBiase beat Jesse Dalton (C-) Cole: Well another impressive victory for young Ted DiBiase. Coach: I gotta admit, DiBiase has been impressing me with the way he’s been going about his business lately. I mean, he bought himself a United States Title shot, he kicked the crap out of Matt Hardy last week, and he... Cole: Wait... it’s Matt Hardy! The United States Champion is taking the fight to DiBiase! Coach: Yeah good job Hardy, attack a guy just after he’s won a hard match. This our United States Champion huh? Cole: Hardy... clothesline sends DiBiase over the top rope! Matt Hardy, extracting a little revenge after the attack he suffered last week. Coach: Yeah well I guarantee you, this isn’t over between these two. Matt Hardy’s gonna pay for this! ------------------- We cut backstage to the image of Rosa Mendes, clipboard in hand, talking to some backstage workers. And we’re already going out for a meal after the show tonight. Santino: I don’t-ah understand this Rosa! I mean, Vil Vanus... he is a porno star! Tonight though, London is in action for a final tune-up, taking on Andy Douglas, who of course has partner Chase Stevens at ringside. Stevens tries to hand Douglas the early advantage by distracting London, but it backfires as Douglas charges the apron, only for London to move, sending Douglas into his partner and allowing London to gain the upper-hand. The action us fast paced, with London flying around the ring and connecting with a flying crossbody for an early 2 count. London looks to continue the quick start to match, going to the second rope... but again Stevens gets involved, distracting London... right hand sends Stevens down, but Douglas connects with a right hand before nailing a suplex for a 2 count. Douglas now looks to take control, stomping away, dropping the elbow and gaining another near fall from a tornado-DDT. Douglas then sends London to the floor, where again Stevens looks to get involved... but London reverses his Irish whip, sending Stevens into the ringpost, and with Douglas still tied up with the ref, London climbs to the top rope... dropkick connects! 1... 2... Douglas gets the shoulder up, but London stays on the attack, coming off the ropes... hurricanrana! 1... 2... again Douglas kicks out, and this time he rolls to the outside to recover with Stevens, but here comes London... suicide plancha! London takes out both men, and he tosses Douglas back into the ring and connects with a tornado-DDT for yet another near fall. The match swings back in Douglas’ favour when he counters an atomic drop, catching London with a neckbreaker and climbing to the top rope for... big splash off the top... no! London rolls out of the way, and he moves quickly to go to the top rope for... the 450 splash! London connects hooks the leg... 1... 2... 3! Paul London gets the win and rolls into Armageddon in confident fashion. Noble: That’s the funniest thing I heard in a long time! Yang: Oh you think so? Well why don’t you guys put your money where your mouth is? You two give us a rematch next week. Helms: You want us to beat you guys again? Alright, fine. Noble: But you’re gonna be crying in your beer next week too. Moore: We’ll see about that... -------------------- Cole: Let’s go back out to the parking lot to once again check with Josh Matthews. Josh, is there any word on the arrival of Mr McMahon here at the arena tonight? Josh: No word yet Michael. As of this time, we haven’t seen any limos arriving in the arena since the show started. However, we did place a call through to WWE headquarters in Stamford, CT and we understand Vince McMahon is currently on route to Baltimore. So hopefully Mr McMahon will be here by the end of the broadcast. Back to you guys... -------------------- Montel Vontavious Porter v Ron Killings MVP is back, still trying to rebuild his reputation and climb back up the ladder after his recent run of defeats. His opponent tonight, Ron Killings, hasn’t had much success since the draft broke up his partnership with Kofi Kingston, with Killings still looking to build his singles career. Killings starts the match brightly, taking the fight to the former World Champion and gaining some success by taking MVP down with hiptosses and back-body-drops before connecting with dropkicks and jumping heel kicks. Killings then looks to focus on MVP’s arm, only for MVP to counter with armlocks and waistlocks of his own, following with hard elbows to the side of the head and kicks to the gut. Hard uppercuts and clubbing forearms to the back now rain down as MVP takes control, before Killings is sent off the ropes into a snap overhead belly-to-belly for a 2 count. MVP then begins to act arrongantly, taunting Killings before coming off the ropes... ballin’ elbow... no! Killings surprises him with a roll-up... 1... 2... MVP kicks out, but Killings now starts to build momentum, nailing right hands and sending MVP off the ropes... flying 360 forearm! 1... 2... again MVP kicks out, but now the crowd is behind Killings, and he goes for the win... kick to the gut... off the ropes... scissors kick... no! MVP avoids the contact... kick to the gut... playmaker! MVP nails the playmaker and quickly hooks the leg... 1... 2... 3. Montel Vontavious Porter beat Ron Killings (B-) ------------------- In the corridors of the arena, Paul London is walking in street clothes, no doubt looking forward to his Cruiserweight Title match this Sunday until he is blindsided by... Cole: Oh! Rodimer just threw London into the wall! And now Kendrick is hammering London with the boot! Coach: Haha! I love it! The Kendrick: How do you like that London? Huh? How do you like that? Cole: My God, this is disgusting. I mean, Paul London is set to face Brian Kendrick... Coach: The Brian Kendrick... Cole: Oh shut up! Rey Mysterio, Matt Sydal and Christian! And guys, tonight you three are set to team up to take on Bobby Lashley and The Empire, but more importantly, this Sunday, you Rey will face Bobby Lashley one on one, and you Christian will get your shot at the World Heavyweight Championship. How are you guys feeling right now? Sydal: I feel like tonight, I’m gonna prove myself to Bobby Lashley, JBL and everybody watching at home. I may have been the last anybody expected to step up and help CM Punk, but now I’m in this position, I’m not going to back down from anyone. And this Sunday, Rey... I got your back man. Mysterio: JBL... tonight your reign as Smackdown general manager is gonna come to an end. No more of you throwing your weight around, no more of giving out title shots to whoever you feel like giving them to. And as for this Sunday... for you and LAshley, it’s gonna wind up just like tonight... you’re both gonna lose. Christian: I don’t have too much to say about tonight. As soon as Vince McMahon gets here, JBL’s ass is history! But as for this Sunday and Armageddon... Punk... I like you man. We work well together. But on Sunday, I’m gonna be all business. I said when I returned to the WWE, that I was back to fulfil my destiny. And if I’ve got to beat you Punk to get my hands on the World Heavyweight Championship... then so be it. Let’s go guys... ------------------- Christian, Rey Mysterio and Matt Sydal v Bobby Lashley and The Empire The six man tag made earlier is up next, as Christian, Mysterio and Sydal go at it against Lashley, Burchill and McIntyre, with JBL wanting Lashley and The Empire to remove all three of their opponents from getting involved in tonight’s main event. Lashley and Mysterio start the match, a preview of their showdown this Sunday at Armageddon. Lashley looks to dominate early on, but Mysterio uses his quickness to allude him, ducking clotheslines and right hands to score with dropkicks and crossbodys. Eventually though, Lashley manages to trap Mysterio in a corner, driving his shoulder into the gut before scooping Mysterio up for a running powerslam... but Rey drops down the back, pushing Lashley into the corner before connecting with wheelbarrow DDT and tagging in Christian. Captain Charisma enters the ring and immediately takes the fight to Lashley, rocking him with right hands before going for an Irish whip... reversal... Christian ducks a clothesline... spinning wheel kick! Lashley goes down and shows his frustrations before tagging in McIntyre, but as he charges in, Christian takes him down with an armdrag and follows with a reverse DDT for a 2 count before tagging in Sydal. Sydal comes in and goes to work on McIntyre’s arm, wrenching away at it, but McIntyre is able to drive Sydal to his corner, allowing Burchill to hit a cheap shot and tag himself in. Burchill dominates Sydal, nailing multiple backbreakers, shoulderbreakers and powerslams, gaining 2 counts along the way. Burchill and Lashley make several tags, tossing Sydal around the ring and sending him repeatedly crashing to the mat. Sydal takes a lot of punishment, particularly to his ribs, as Burchill hits a gutbuster and McIntyre aims a series of knees to the gut. McIntyre then sends Sydal to the corner, but when he charges in, Sydal gets a boot up, jumping to the second rope and coming out with a sunset flip... 1... 2... McIntyre kicks out, but Sydal quickens the pace, ducking a clothesline and taking McIntyre down with a headscissors. Both men slowly crawl to their corner... here comes Burchill... here comes Christian! Christian comes in and catches Burchill with right hands, before knocking Lashley off the apron and using the ropes to bring McIntyre back in, before taking down both of The Empire with a double clothesline. Mysterio then gets the tag, and he bounces to the top rope for a seated senton to McIntyre before a springboard crossbody takes Burchill down. Burchill staggers to his feet, but Mysterio stays on him, sending him off the ropes... reversal... tilt-a-whirl headscissors from Mysterio, and Burchill is in position on the ropes for... the 619! Mysterio connects, goes for the cover... but Katie Lea is up on the apron distracting the ref! Mysterio manages to get the ref to turn around, but Burchill is back up... but a dropkick has him on the ropes again, and here comes Mysterio... but this time he runs into a spinebuster from Lashley! But here comes Christian and Sydal, and they take the fight to Lashley and McIntyre, with Sydal hitting a crossbody to take both he and McIntyre out while a clothesline sends Lashley over the top. Burchill catches Christian from behind with a shot to the back, but when he goes for his torture rack submission finisher, Christian drops fights off his shoulders... and connects with the unprettier! Christian now climbs to the top rope... oh! Regal nails Christian with a steel chair adn the referee has no option but to call for the DQ. Christian, Rey Mysterio and Matt Sydal beat Bobby Lashley and The Empire by disqualification (B) Cole: What the hell?! Regal just nailed Christian! Coach: And this is what JBL wanted. He wanted these three guys taken out things, and that’s what Regal is about to do with that steel chair. Cole: And... oh! Matt Sydal just sent into the ring-steps, and Mysterio and Christian are both down in the ring. This is a mugging right here. Coach: Wait... McIntyre and Burchill just dragged Mysterio to his feet... Cole: No, no... oh! A sickening shot to the skull from Regal! Mysterio has been decimated! Coach: And Christian is next! Haha! I love it! Cole: Lashley now... dragging Christian to his feet... Regal has the chair... oh! Christian ducked, and Regal cracked Lashley with the chair! Coach: What the hell is he doing?! Cole: Christian has the chair... oh! A shot to Regal... and Burchill takes on too! Here comes McIntyre... kick from Christian... unprettier on the chair! Christian has cleaned house here tonight! Coach: What the hell are these idiots doing?! Cole: Christian has just taken out Lashley and The Empire, but will he leave Armageddon the World Heavyweight Champion? ------------------- Cole: Welcome back to Friday Night Smackdown folks. There you see the cage being lowered into position for tonight’s huge main event. Coach: The main event where JBL finally takes the World Heavyweight Championship away from CM Punk. I can’t wait! Cole: And of course, we’re still waiting for word on the arrival of Vince McMahon. Let’s once again take you out to the parking lot and speak with Josh Matthews. Josh, any update on the whereabouts of Mr McMahon? Josh: Sadly not Michael no. We understand Mr McMahon is still on his way to the arena, but we have no idea how near or how far away he is, and we still don’t know if he’ll make it to the arena by the end of tonight’s broadcast. Of course, we’ll keep you up to date should Mr McMahon arrive, but apart from that, there’s nothing to report. Back to you guys... JBL tries to bluff Punk a couple of times by climbing a couple of ropes, only for Punk to call his bluff and inch towards the door. Eventually both men tie-up, with the champion gaining the early upperhand, striking with rights, lefts, boots and knees before sending JBL face first into the side of the cage. Punk looks to take control early, but when he comes off the ropes, JBL flapjacks him into the cage, before making the first attempt at escape, as JBL begins to climb, reaching the top before Punk lunges and grabs an ankle, dragging JBL back into the ring and nailing more kicks before coming off the ropes... crossbody... no! JBL catches him... fallaway slam! JBL now looks to punish Punk, aiming stiff forearms to the spine, driving the knee there too before coming off the ropes... and running right into a dropkick from Punk! The champion regains control, driving JBL to the corner with right hands before going for an Irish whip... reversal from JBL... Punk bounces out the corner... right into a back-body-drop. Once more JBL begins the climb to victory, only for Punk to once again desperately grab an ankle, before joining JBL on the top rope and nailing... a Russian legsweep from the top rope! Both men go down, but the match has once again swung in the champs favour, as he aims kicks to the head before again sending JBL face first off the steel and nailing him with a step-up enziguiri. More kicks follow, as Punk looks to hit home his advantage, but when he comes off the ropes, JBL catches him with a back-body-drop... right into the side of the cage! Both men are down as the nature of the match takes its toll, but it’s JBL who has control, delivering hard right hands, dropping Punk with slams and backbreakers before again sending Punk crashing into the cage with the fallaway slam. JBL then connects with a powerbomb, before once more trying to escape, this time crawling through the door. The ref opens the door, and JBL has a hand on the steel steps... but Punk flies across the ring, grabbing JBL by the leg and dragging him back into the ring before locking on... the anaconda vice! Punk begins to squeeze down on JBL, and eventually the general manager begins to tap... but the only way to win is to escape the cage! JBL eventually passes out due to the pain, his hand becoming as prone as the rest of his body. Punk, with JBL out, now feels like the match is his to win, and he goes for the exit. The referee opens the door, Punk crawls out, only for... Cole: Oh! What the hell?! Coach: Did the referee just shut the door on Punk’s head? Cole: It wasn’t the ref... it was Bobby Lashley! Lashley, who did so much damage earlier tonight, has just nailed CM Punk! Coach: Are you sure it was Lashley? I’m sure I saw the ref swing the door at... Cole: Goddamn it Coach! You know it was Lashley! You just... hey! Here comes Christian! Christian is brawling with Lashley! Coach: What the hell is he doing put here? Didn’t he learn his lesson earlier tonight? As Lashley and Christian brawl their way back up the ramp, a stream of blood runs from Punk’s face, no doubt the force of the cage door being slammed in his face busting him open. JBL is only now beginning to stir from the effects of the anaconda vice, as both returning to their feet slowly. JBL swings with a right hand, only for Punk to fire back, and despite both men looking like they’re out on their feet, a slow slugfest ensues. Both men trade punches, until Punk rallies off three in a row, sending JBL to the corner and following in with a knee to the head and coming out with a bulldog. Punk then drags JBL back to his feet, again swinging his boot and JBL’s head before going for an Irish whip... reversal... Punk with a baseball slide under a big boot... wait... he has JBL on his shoulders... GTS... no! JBL fights out of it, before charging off the ropes... Cole: Oh! Clothesline from hell! Coach: Yes! We’ve got a new champion! Cole: All JBL has to do is exit the cage and he will go to Armageddon as the World Heavyweight Champion. And here he goes, JBL begins the slow climb up the cage. Coach: What a night! What an historic broadcast! JBL is finally once again the... Suddenly, the camera shot cuts to the parking lot, where a long black limo has arrived. The front door opens, and out steps a rather embarrassed looking driver. Coach: Oh no. Cole: Is he here? Is this what we’ve been waiting for? Coach: God I hope not... Let me tell you this pal, after tonight... you’re fired! Josh: Uh... Mr McMahon? Mr McMahon? Can I grab a couple of words with you? I mean, why are you here tonight? What are you going to say with regards to...? Vince: Save it sport, I don’t have much time. As all of this was going on, JBL had reached the top of the cage... only to be frozen by the image of Mr McMahon walking through the arena on the titan-tron. With JBL staring at the tron, mouth wide open in disbelief, the champion has been able to make a recovery. Punk staggers to his feet, and he begins to climb the ropes where JBL had been climbing. He reaches the top, catching JBL with a boot to the skull before slamming JBL face first off the top of cage... again JBL tastes the steal... and a third time. Punk now hooks JBL up... Russian legsweep from the top of the cage! Both men go down, but it’s Punk who rises first, grabbing his back, dragging himself towards the ropes to once again climb the cage. Punk manages to force his way to the top, but JBL has also came around, and he’s crawling for the cage door. Punk, hoists himself up and swings a leg over, but the referee has opened the door and JBL has a hold of the apron. JBL give himself a finally pull towards the door... but Punk is over the top, and he scales the side of the cage... and drops down to the floor! CM Punk beat John Bradshaw Layfield to retain the World Heavyweight Championship (B) Coach: No! No! God I can’t believe it! How the hell does he keep doing this?! Cole: CM Punk is still the World Heavyweight Champion! CM Punk is going to Armageddon to defend the title against Christian! As the referee hands Punk the title and JBL sits up in the ring, head in his hands... NO CHANCE, THAT’S WHAT YOU’VE GOT... Cole: And here comes the chairman of the board! Mr McMahon is finally here, and things could go from bad to worse for JBL. Coach: Please Mr McMahon... have mercy! He didn’t mean it! Vince: JBL... I recently had two of the superstars from your show come to me... with a petition for your removal as general manager of Smackdown. The locker-room supported them, and they had a mountain of damming evidence to support their claims. I mean, taking your brand into a war based on a personal vendetta... suspending and firing employees at your whim... selling title shots to the highest bidder, disgracing the name and the legacy of this brand... and then giving yourself multiple shots at the World Heavyweight Championship. JBL... I put you in charge of this brand, because you came to me with a vision that you were going to return this brand to its glory days. Instead, you’ve turned this show... my show... into your own personal playground. Well you know what JBL? I’ve had enough! JBL... Coach: No! Please Mr McMahon don’t say it... Vince: You’re fired! Coach: No! Cole: Yes! JBL’s fired! JBL is no longer the general manager of Smackdown! Coach: But... but what’s gonna happen to JBL? I mean... God I can’t believe this! Cole: JBL is out as GM! Ladies and gentlemen, what a night this has been! Thank you for joining us, and we’ll see you this Sunday for Armageddon!
Na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na, hey-ey-ey, goodbye! Nice to see JBL get his comeuppance. Great show overall, loving the fact that Smackdown is domninated by the likes of Christian, Mysterio, Punk and Bourne!
Hey thanks man. Nice to see someone is still reading this. Updates are slow right now because of the usual suspects really, uni, work and social life. Hopefully I'll have Armageddon finished by the end of the week. Preview to be up in a couple of days. ;) Thanks for the comment man! :)

An opening video plays out, leading us to huge burst of pyros as the official Armageddon theme tune, Chinese Democracy by Guns 'n' Roses plays out. The camera spans the crowd, before eventually settling on the Raw announce desk and hall of famers Jim Ross and Jerry 'The King' Lawler... JR: Welcome everybody to the sold out HSBC Arena in Buffalo, NY! Welcome to the last show of a hellacious 2008! Welcome to WWE Armageddon! Hello everyone, I’m good ol’ JR, Jim Ross, alongside Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler, and King, tonight will go a long way in determining what kind of 2009 we’re going to have on the Raw brand. King: You’re absolutely right JR. Tonight, Jeff Hardy puts the WWE Title on the line in a fatal four way match against Triple H, Randy Orton and John Cena. 2008 was the year Jeff finally accomplished his dream and became WWE Champion, but will he make it to 2009 with the title still around his waist? JR: Also tonight, Shawn Michaels and Batista go one on one, the World Tag Team Titles are on the line and Finlay and Sheamus O’Shaunessy are set to finally end their long rivalry tonight. Right now, let’s hand you over to the ECW announce desk, Joey Styles and Tazz. Styles: Thanks JR. It’s been a hell of a year for ECW, we’ve seen some great matches, some great action, and tonight figures to be no different. Tazz: Well we’ve got a huge ECW Title match, as the champion Kurt Angle puts the gold on the line against the undefeated Colt Cabana and the downright strange big red machine Kane. Styles: Colt Cabana has never lost since he debuted in the land of extreme, and Kane has been on a roll since he returned from injury. The ECW Champion is in a whole heap of trouble tonight! Let’s join our colleagues over at the Smackdown desk, Michael Cole and Jonathan Coachman. Cole: Our thanks to the ECW guys. Coach, after such a dramatic ending to Smackdown on Friday night, what on earth is going to happen tonight? Coach: Well I’m still in shock at what happened last Friday night. JBL was moments away from coming into Armageddon as the World Heavyweight Champion, only to have it stolen away from him. Tonight, CM Punk puts the gold on the line against Christian, and quite frankly, I hate both of those guys, and I don’t want to see that title in the hands of either of those two. Cole: Will Christian complete the fairytale comeback story and win the championship tonight? Also, Bobby Lashley and Rey Mysterio in a match made by JBL just before he was fired as general manager... but right now, we’re kicking things off with the Cruiserweight Championship ladder match. ECW’s The Brian Kendrick puts the gold on the line against Paul London, in what is sure to be London’s last chance at the gold... Cruiserweight Championship Ladder Match The Brian Kendrick (C) v Paul London A feud lasting over three months finally comes to a head tonight, as Paul London, after missing out on two previous shots, gets one last chance at the Cruiserweight Title. Kendrick as always has Danny Rodimer at ringside with him, but his presence doesn’t seem to deter London early on, as the challenger takes control, connecting with right hands, coming off the ropes for a flying forearm before nailing Kendrick with a step-up enzuigiri. London then goes to the outside to bring the ladder into the ring, but with the referee distracted, Rodimer nails him with a clothesline, before rolling the challenger back into the ring. Kendrick moves quickly to take advantage, driving the elbow and raining down with rights and lefts before getting to his feet and stomping down with the boots. Kendrick then plants London with a tornado DDT, and this time it’s the champion who goes to the floor, folding up the ladder and looking to slide it under the bottom rope, but here comes London... baseball slide sends the ladder crashing into Kendrick’s face! Kendrick sluggishly gets back to his feet, using the ladder for help, but this only gives London another chance to use it as a weapon... somersault plancha onto the ladder! Again Kendrick feels the brunt of the ladder, and with the champion down and Rodimer being warned by the ref to stay out of things, London grabs the ladder, slides it into the ring and sets it up underneath the gold. Slowly London starts to climb, inching ever closer to the title, but Rodimer has franticly gotten Kendrick back to his feet, and the champion desperately lunges at the ladder, knocking the ladder over and hanging London up on the top rope by the throat. Both men are slow to get back up, but it’s the champion who returns to his feet quickest, setting up the ladder in one corner of the ring and then grabbing London, slamming him face first into the ladder then Irish whipping him into it, causing London to scream out in pain and grab his lower spine. Kendrick now begins to focus on the back, driving forearms and knees before placing the ladder flat on the mat and slamming London onto it. Now it’s the champion who looks to grab the title, setting the ladder up and beginning his climb. Kendrick slowly makes his way up, nearing the top and getting a fingertip on the title... only for London to spring to life and grab Kendrick by the legs... powerbomb from the top of the ladder! London drives Kendrick to the mat, and once again both men are down. London makes it back up first, and he flattens the ladder and places it near the corner before grabbing Kendrick and running him to the corner... tornado DDT... no! Kendrick counters... side suplex onto the ladder! Again London’s back feels the force of the ladder, and once more the champion takes control. Kendrick now looks to punish London, driving the top of the ladder into his gut before simply tossing it off London’s head. Again Kendrick props the ladder up in a corner, before nailing more right hands and looking to whip London into the ladder... only for London to reverse it! The champion crashes into the ladder and slumps to the mat, and London now stands the ladder up near the corner and climbs to the top... shooting star press off the top of the ladder! London connects, and after taking an age to return to his feet, the challenger sets the ladder under the gold and begins the climb... only for Rodimer to slide into the ring and push the ladder over! London crashes to the mat, and Rodimer starts to pound away on him, before setting the ladder up and scooping up Kendrick... and placing the champion on his shoulders! Now Rodiemr begins to climb the ladder with Kendrick on his shoulders, taking the champion ever closer to the title... Kendrick has his hands on the title... oh! London out of desperation nails Rodimer with a low-blow, causing the big guy to fall backwards... nailing Kendrick with an electric chair! Both champion and bodyguard are down, allowing London to slowly climb the ladder. Rung by rung, London inches ever closer to the gold, but Kendrick is again stirring, and he begins to crawl towards the ladder. London reaches out but can’t quite grab the belt, giving Kendrick the chance to catch up... right hand from Kendrick... London fires back. Again the champion strikes... but again London hits back... a third right from London... and now he slams Kendrick’s face off the ladder... and again... and a third time sees Kendrick fall off the ladder on top of Rodimer! London takes a final step, reaches out... and pulls down the Cruiserweight Championship! Paul London beat The Brian Kendrick to become the new Cruiserweight Champion (B) ------------------- Backstage, a noticeably nervous Shane McMahon is joined by Vince McMahon... Shane: Dad? Vince: Shane... what’s the matter? You look a little flustered. Shane: Yeah uh... well... tell you truth, I’m a little bit worried about tonight. Vince: Worried? What the hell have you got to be worried about? You’re a McMahon dammit! Shane: Yeah, I know, I know but... I mean Hunter hasn’t exactly been on a roll lately, Cena and Hardy are kicking our asses every chance they get, I’ve got... Vince: Hey, hey! What the hell is this? I don’t want to hear this! I want to hear about how Triple H is gonna bring the WWE Championship back to the family. I wanna hear about how tomorrow night on Raw, you and the rest of Revolution are going to be back in control of things on my flagship show. You understand me? Shane: Yeah, yeah... I understand. Vince: Good. Alright... I’ve got a little bit of business to take care of. I’ve got to find a new general manager for Smackdown... ------------------- In the corridors of the arena, Sheamus O’Shaunessy and Mark Henry are walking towards a locker-room with a purpose... Sheamus: Right Henry, listen-up. I’m sick and tired of that little runt Hornswoggle sticking his nose in my business. I want that leprechaun taking out of things! I don’t want to see him anywhere near the ring tonight. Henry: You got it man. Sheamus: Right then, let’s go find Finlay and that leprechaun and let’s sort them out! As Henry and Sheamus walk past, the lid of a trash can is pushed off, and from inside, the head of Hornswoggle pops out! The first tie-up sees Lashley naturally overpower the smaller Mysterio, tossing Rey to the corner and then goading him to return to the centre of the ring. Mysterio does just that, charging at Lashley and ducking his clothesline before teeing off with a few rights of his own, before Lashley charges at Rey... drop-toe-hold sends Lashley down, and the big man is embarrassed and furious at what just happened, so Lashley quickly gets back up and charges again... this time a baseball slide helps Rey avoid him, and Mysterio runs the ropes... right into a huge clothesline! Lashley stops Rey dead in his tracks, but as he drags Rey to his feet and sends him off the ropes, again Mysterio shows his quickness, bouncing onto Lashley’s shoulder and taking him down with a hurricanrana. The force of the move leaves Lashley hung up on the second rope, and Mysterio calls out for... the 619... no! Lashley is up on his feet... back-body-drop... but Mysterio lands on the apron, bounces to the top rope... seated senton... oh! Lashley nails Mysterio with a huge right hand that sends sprawling to the floor, landing right infront of JBL. The ref is quick to warn JBL, and Sydal also makes his way around, but eventually Lashley decides to step through the rope and continue his attack, slamming Rey face first into the apron and then rolling him back into the ring for a near fall. Hard kicks and stiff rights drive Mysterio to the corner, before a hard Irish whip sends him crashing into the opposite turnbuckle, causing Mysterio to slump to the mat in pain, with Lashley again scoring a near fall. Lashley now shows off the ruthless side we’ve seen from him in recent weeks, as he aims stomps at Rey’s head before dragging him to his feet and taking Mysterio into the air for an eternity for a long delayed vertical suplex, again scoring another 2 count. Now Lashley looks to wear Rey down, locking on a seated chinlock, squeezing the head of Mysterio, all the while JBL is looking on with a big smile on his face. Eventually Sydal is able to rally the crowd behind Rey, and the cheers bring Mysterio back to his feet, but Lashley breaks the hold by landing a pair of clubbing forearms to the spine before a hard Irish whip sends Rey to the corner and Lashley charges in... but he runs into an elbow... again Lashley charges in... this time he runs into a boot, and Mysterio comes out the corner... wheelbarrow DDT! Mysterio plants Lashley and crawls into the cover... 1... 2... Lashley gets the shoulder up. Now Rey looks to quicken the pace, coming off the ropes and ducking a clothesline before jumping to the second rope... springboard crossbody! 1... 2... again Lashley kicks out, and the force of the kickout sends Rey to the edge of the ring, and he stand up on the apron... elbow to Lashley’s gut... Mysterio to the top rope... seated senton! 1... 2... Lashley powers out again, but here comes Rey... oh! But he runs into another huge Lashley clothesline, and this could be it... 1... 2... Mysterio kicks out! The crowd rises at the sight of Mysterio staying in the match, but Lashley gets in the referee’s face about it, and when he finally turns around, Mysterio is back up... headscissors sends Lashley to the second rope, and here comes Rey... 619 connects! Mysterio goes for the cover... but JBL has the referee distracted! Mysterio ahs Lashley down, but there’s no pin count... but here comes Sydal, as he jumps onto the apron... hurricanrana from the apron to the floor! With JBL now taken care of, Mysterio springs to the top rope and waits for Lashley to return to his feet... west coast pop... no! Lashley catches Rey... and plants him with the dominator! Mysterio crashes to the mat with a huge impact, and Lashley goes for the cover... 1... 2... 3. Kennedy and Carlito start things, with Kennedy quickly gaining the upper hand, coming off the ropes and ducking a clothesline and then connecting with a neckbreaker, before rocking Carlito with uppercuts, driving him into the Bulldogs corner, where TJ tags himself in. Wilson comes in and takes the fight to Kennedy, but he fares little better than Carlito did, as Kennedy again comes off the ropes, this time knocking Wilson down with shoulderblocks and clotheslines, sending TJ scurrying to his corner to tag in Harry. Smith manages to finally get some offense in on Kennedy, locking him in a headlock, and when Kennedy sends him off the ropes, Kennedy ducks his head allowing Harry to nail a kick to the chest and take him down with a hard clothesline. A few quick tags between Harry and TJ follow, as the Bulldogs look to wear Kennedy down, with TJ connecting with elbows, dropkicks and a springboard elbow and Harry driving the knee and nailing a bridging German suplex for a near fall. Harry looks to stay on the attack, but when he comes off the ropes, Primo tags himself in, and he quickly takes advantage of Harry’s work by locking Kennedy in a chinlock. Kennedy fights back to his feet, breaking the hold with elbows before sending Primo to the corner, following in with a clothesline and bringing Jericho into the match for the first time. Jericho and Kennedy now isolate Primo, focusing on his arm and targeting the shoulder, making quick tags and using armdrags and armbars to good effect. While Jericho is working on Primo, Harry manages to sneak a tag in, entering the ring just as Jericho hits Primo with a dropkick, allowing Smith to catch Jericho from behind with a chop-block. Harry immediately goes to work on Jericho’s knee, stomping down on it and dropping the elbow across it. Carlito and Primo look on with worried faces as Harry and TJ cut off Jericho, keeping him in their corner and continuing to punish the knee. Harry eventually locks on a single leg Boston crab, forcing Jericho to cry out in pain and struggle to reach the ropes. Jericho is able to inch his way towards freedom, and after an age he grabs the bottom rope and the referee calls for the break. As Harry finally lets go, Carlito slaps him on the back to tag himself in, and he continues to focus on Jericho’s knee. Kneedrags repeatedly take Jericho down, but when Carlito looks for another, Jericho rocks him with an enzuigiri, leaving both men down. Carlito crawls towards Primo, but Jericho makes it to his corner first, bringing Kennedy back into the match. Kennedy flies into the ring and takes down both Carlito and Primo with right hands before catching the onrushing TJ with a flapjack and knocking Harry off the apron with a forearm. Kennedy turns his attentions to Carlito, sending him off the ropes for a back-body-drop and then sending him over the top rope with a clothesline. Primo is back up and he catches Kennedy from behind, but Jericho is up too, nailing Primo with a dropkick that sends him out too. Smith is now back in the ring, but he quickly gets double teamed by Jericho and Kennedy, who send Harry off the ropes for a double back-body-drop. Carlito then grabs Kennedy by the ankle and drags him under the ropes to the floor, and while those two brawl on the outside, TJ returns to the ring, but Jericho is ready as he ducks Wilson’s clothesline... and goes for... the codebreaker... no! TJ grabs the top rope to save himself, and he grabs Jericho’s legs for... the sharpshooter... no! Jericho kicks out of it, sending TJ to the corner, but he quickly charges out... double-leg takedown from Jericho... and now he tries to lock in... the walls of Jericho! Jericho turns TJ over and he has it locked in, but here comes Harry... but Kennedy is in the ring, and he ducks Harry’s right hand... mic check connects! Kennedy is quickly back up to catch Carlito with a knee as he tries to enter the ring, and with nobody left to save him, TJ taps out! Jericho and Kennedy retain the titles! This is nowhere near a fairly tale. This is me, coming back to the WWE and fulfilling my destiny. I’ve always had championship talent... I just never got many championship opportunities. But tonight, all that changes. I’m back, I’m better than ever... and I will fulfil my destiny. Henry: I couldn’t find that little runt anywhere! Sheamus: Right, here’s what we’ll do. I’ll go down to the ring, and you wait at the top of the ramp. When you see Finlay and... Sheamus is interrupted as out of nowhere Finlay and Hornswoggle appear, with Finlay hitting clubbing blows to both men with the shillelagh. As Finlay is clubbing away, Hornswoggle has jumped into a forklift truck... and as Finlay knocks Henry onto a palette... Horny begins to raise it to the ceiling! Quickly Henry is left hanging in the air, and as Finlay batters Sheamus through the apron and out onto the entrance ramp, their no holds barred match is quickly under way... No Holds Barred Match Finlay v Sheamus O’Shaunessy And it’s under way with a bang, as Finlay lays into Sheamus with the shillelagh, delivering repeated stiff shots to his ribs and back. The action is currently taking place near the entrance way, and after several more shillelagh shots, Sheamus back through the curtain to the backstage area. Finlay and Hornswoggle aren’t far behind, and we catch a glimpse of Henry, still stuck way in the air, crying out for someone to let him down. Finlay catches up with Sheamus and sends him crashing into a steel door, the concrete walls and even a Pepsi machine as the veteran takes out months of frustration and anger. All the while Sheamus continues to try and distance himself, but Finlay stays on him, grabbing a trash can and hurling it off Sheamus’ head. Sheamus again backs away, and this time when Finlay comes at him he hits a boot to the gut, before nailing a few right hands and slamming Finlay face first off a catering table. Sheamus takes a few seconds to compose himself, before going right back to work, hitting shots to the spine and scooping Finlay up... and slamming him through the table! Finlay cries out in pain, and Hornswoggle has a deeply concerned look on his face, until Sheamus spots him and chases him away. Back to Finlay, Sheamus drives Finlay into the walls of the building, before using an Irish whip to send Finlay crashing into a door... but Finlay burst straight through and into the crowd! The fans cheer at the sight of the action winding up in their laps, but it soon turns to boos as Sheamus stays in control... until Finlay grabs a beer from a fan and throws it in Sheamus’ face! Blinded, Sheamus swings at fresh air, and Finlay now starts teeing off on him, before he drives Sheamus into a barrier and then uppercuts send Sheamus down to the concrete. Sheamus staggers to his feet and again tries to put distance between the two, but Finlay sticks with him, hitting more right hands and then clotheslining Sheamus over the barricade and into the ring area. Finlay quickly leaps over the barricade and he reaches under the ring, dragging out an assortment of weapons including trash cans, steel chairs and a kendo stick. Finlay puts the stick to good use, unloading across Sheamus’ back with it and then aiming shots to the gut. Finlay now walks over to the Raw announce desk, ripping off the top and removing the monitors... but this give Sheamus a chance to recover, and he aims a right hand to Finlay’s gut before grabbing a trash can and slamming it off Finlay’s skull. For the first time in the contest both men enter the ring, where Sheamus grabs the kendo and he returns the favour by unloading on Finlay. Sheamus wears out the kendo on Finlay, before turning to the crowd and taunting them... only for Finlay to crawl over and hit him with a low blow! The crowd rises, and so does Finlay, as he staggers back to his feet and hits a series of clotheslines before grabbing a chair... and cracking Sheamus in the head with it! We finally have a pinfall, which results in a 2 count, before Finlay grabs a trash can and sets it up in a corner, looking to send Sheamus into it... but a reversal sees Finlay crash into the can, and he staggers out of the corner into a Celtic slam from Sheamus! Sheamus looks down on Finlay feeling it’s over, but he wants to make sure, so he goes under the ring, looking for... hey! It’s Hornswoggle! Hornswoggle had been hiding under the ring after being chased away earlier... and he just empties a fire extinguisher in Sheamus’ face! Sheamus staggers around, blinded by the mist, and Finlay is back up... oh! Another sick shot to the skull with the chair, which Finlay then lays on the mat, before scooping Sheamus up... Celtic cross onto the chair! Finlay plants Sheamus and slumps over him for the cover... 1... 2... 3! I don’t remember it quite happening like that. What I do remember is me being robbed by Jeff Hardy at Survivor Series. I remember Jeff Hardy slamming my head off an exposed steel turnbuckle. Cabana also chip in with right hands, and with Angle delivering kicks to the midsection, Kane is quickly subdued and stomped down to the mat. Angle and Cabana then use a double Irish whip to send Kane to the opposite corner, but when Cabana charges in, he runs right into a big boot, and Angle follows in right into a clothesline. Kane now starts to unload, tossing Cabana to one corner and nailing elbows to the head, before sending Angle to the opposite corner and following in with a clothesline. Angle is then whipped off the ropes and sent flying with a back-body-drop, but here comes Cabana out of the corner... but he runs right into a sidewalk slam for the first cover of the match... 1... 2... Angle makes the save. Angle drives the elbow into Kane to break-up the pin attempt, and now he hits right hands that march Kane into the corner, before hanging Kane’s leg up on the second rope and aiming kicks at his knee. Again Cabana joins in for a two on one, with both men stomping Kane back down to the mat. Angle and Cabana then scoop Kane up for a double side-suplex, and when Kane staggers to the rope, a double clothesline sends him to the floor. The Cabana/Angle partnership doesn’t last long though, as the champion immediately strikes, taking Colt down with a double-leg takedown and going for... the ankle lock... no! Cabana twists and fights his way free, using his legs to take Angle down and quickly spring to his feet... German suplex... no! Angle counters, grabbing Cabana’s foot and rolling through for... the ankle lock... no! This time Cabana scrambles for the ropes, but Angle stays on the attack, stomping away and dragging Cabana up for a German suplex of his own... but when Angle releases, Cabana lands on his feet, and he runs Angle into the corner and then goes for an Irish whip across... reversal by Angle... Cabana springs to the top rope... moonsault to the onrushing Angle! 1... 2... Kane makes the save! Kane breaks up the count and rocks Angle with uppercuts to the throat, before pounding Cabana into the corner and sending him across... Cabana hits the corner hard and staggers into... a tilt-a-whirl slam! 1... 2... Cabana gets the shoulder up. Kane stays on the attack though, dragging Cabana to his feet and hitting more vicious uppercuts before grabbing Cabana by the throat and hoisting him up... chokeslam... no! Angle darts in and hits a chop-block, saving Cabana and his title. Kane and Angle now trade right hands, with Angle knocking Kane near the ropes, but when he charges in, Kane elevates him over the top rope, leaving Kane and Cabana in the ring. Cabana can barely stand right now, and he stumbles his way towards Kane... but he walks into... a chokeslam! This Kane connects, and he hooks the leg... 1... 2... again Angle makes the save... with the ankle lock! Angle has it locked in on Kane... but Kane kicks out of it, sending Angle across the ring, but Kurt is quickly back up, and he charges Kane... but he runs into Kane’s hand around his throat... but before Kane can lift Angle up, Cabana sneaks in with a roll-up... 1... 2... Kane kicks out. All three men now trade blows, and it’s Kane who gains the upperhand, rocking Cabana and Angle and then sending Kurt off the ropes... big boot to the face! Now he has Cabana... and he slams him to the mat. Kane now makes his way over to the corner and up to the top rope, where he steadies himself for a flying clothesline... only for Angle to spring up and unbalance Kane, leaving him perched on the top turnbuckle. Angle quickly climbs to the second rope and locks up with Kane before sending him flying... overhead belly-to-belly from the top rope! The impact of the move sends Kane rolling through the bottom rope to the outside, and it takes its toll on Angle too, as its Cabana who takes advantage, connecting with right hands before sending Angle off the ropes... kick to the midsection... Colt .45! Can Cabana do it... 1... 2... no! Angle somehow gets the shoulder up, and Cabana can’t believe it. The crowd now rallies behind Colt, and he looks to put Angle away, climbing to the top rope... missile dropkick... no! Angle avoids the contact, and when Cabana staggers back to his feet, Angle moves quickly... Angle slam! Angle slam! Angle plants Cabana and hooks the leg... 1... 2... 3! I recognised every word he had to say. When I was a kid growing up, I knew it was my destiny to be a champion. When I signed my first contract with the WWE, I knew it was my destiny to be a champion. And when Christian says it’s his destiny to be World Heavyweight Champion... I believe him. But it’s not gonna happen tonight. You see, becoming World Heavyweight Champion was what I’ve always strived for, and now I’ve done it... I’m not gonna give it up. Straight from the first tie-up, the Animal shows off his power advantage, driving Michaels to the corner and unloading with hard rights and knees to the gut. Batista then sends HBK off the ropes, but he ducks his head, allowing Michaels to connect with a knee to the face before showing his aggressive side, coming off the ropes for a Lou Thesz press before raining down with rights and lefts. Batista staggers back to his feet, but a series of chops from Michaels drives him to the corner, and when an Irish whip sends him across, Michaels follows in with a clothesline, as HBK gets the better of the early goings. Michaels then climbs to the top rope and looks for an axehandle, but Batista catches him, and once again Michaels is driven to the corner before Batista connects with a series of shoulder thrusts to the gut. The fight then spills to the outside, as Batista looks to target Michaels’ back, driving him into the barrier and the ringpost. Batista then looks to send Michaels head first into the post, but Michaels drops down the back, and the Animal who tastes the steel. Back in the ring, Michaels stays on the attack, coming off the ropes with a flying forearm for the first 2 count of the match. Batista is back up quickly though, and he catches Michaels with a stiff right before slamming him to the mat and dropping the elbow. The Animal then returns to working on the spine, taking Michaels up for a long vertical suplex for another 2 count. Again Batista sends Michaels to the corner, this time driving his shoulder into the small of the back before a hard Irish whip leaves Michaels upside down on the opposite turnbuckle before he slumps to the mat. The Animal now begins to taunt Michaels, before nailing clubbing forearms to the spine and then hitting a backbreaker. Instead of letting go, Batista holds Michaels in position over his knee, pressing down on his chin and legs and exerting a huge amount of pressure on the spine of Michaels. The crowd look to rally behind Michaels, urging him to break free of the hold, and eventually Michaels is able to fight out of it, catching Batista with a series of knees to the head, only for the Animal to connect with a huge clothesline and go for the cover... 1... 2... Michaels gets the shoulder up! The Animal is enraged, but as he drags Michaels to his feet, Shawn connects with a chop to the chest... Batista fires back... another chop... another right hand from the Animal. The two slug it out in the centre of the ring, until Michaels connects with three chops in a row and goes for an Irish whip... reversal... flying forearm! Michaels kips up and the crowd begins to cheer, with Michaels following with an inverted atomic drop and more chops before another Irish whip... again Batista reverses... and this time he has Michaels up for a spinebuster... only for Michaels to counter with a DDT! Michaels slowly drags himself to the corner and struggles to the top rope, readies himself for... an elbowdrop off the top! The crowd is now at a frenzy, and the momentum has fully shifted in Michaels favour, leading to him going again to the corner, but this time he begins to tune up the band. Batista takes an eternity to return to his feet, but when he does, Michaels makes his move... sweet chin music... no! Batista catches his foot, spins Michaels around... kick to the gut... he has him up... Batista-bomb! Batista-bomb! Batista nails Michaels and slumps on top of his body... 1... 2... 3. Coach: I really can’t stand this guy. Cole: What have you got against CM Punk? Coach: The guy’s a damn joke! He stole the title from MVP, he’s been saved from losing that title numerous times, he never buys any of the guys a drink in the bar after shows, the guy’s a sham! Cole: I heard he’s not the only one that won’t buy you a drink... As Punk continues to walk the corridors, he is confronted by John Bradshaw Layfield and Bobby Lashley, still basking in their achievements from earlier in the night... JBL: Well, well... CM Punk. Big match tonight, huh champ? Punk: Yeah well, when you’re the World Heavyweight Champion, every match is a big match. But it’s been a while since you’ve been champ, hasn’t it JBL? JBL: Haha, boy you’re a funny guy Punk! Or at least, you like to think you are. But in reality, you’re just another pathetic wannabe, determined to stand in the way of me getting back that belt around your waist. Punk: Yeah, and now you’re no longer general manager of Smackdown, you haven’t got a chance in hell of getting this belt back. JBL: Oh you think so huh? Well even though I’m not general manager anymore... I still have a lot of sway around here. And uh... I can influence the outcome of any match I wish... including your match tonight. Wouldn’t it be a shame if say somebody cost you that title in your match tonight. Maybe somebody with a vendetta against you. Maybe somebody looking to get back at you over something. Punk: You’re not gonna intimidate me JBL. JBL: Oh but I already have Punk. Good luck out there champ... ------------------ World Heavyweight Championship Match CM Punk (C) v Christian After working together to remove JBL from power, Punk and Christian now step into the ring as opponents, fighting for the biggest prize Smackdown has to offer. The bell rings and the two exchange a handshake, before we have the first tie-up, leading to Punk driving Christian to the corner and the referee calling for a break. The two smirk at each other and again tie-up, with Punk locking on a side headlock only fro Christian to send him off the ropes... but the champion runs through the challenger with a shoulderblock. Punk looks to take advantage, but Christian quickly rolls him up for an early 2 count, only for Punk to reverse into an armbar, only for Christian to counter that into a front headlock. The counters and reversals continue, as both men break free of headlocks and armbars until Punk locks on a wristlock, taking both men back to their feet before, only for Christian to take Punk down with a double-leg takedown and bridge out for another near fall. Both men are quickly back up, and Christian sends Punk off the ropes... baseball slide from Punk to duck the clothesline... and he has Christian up on his shoulders... GTS... no! Christian fights out of it and pushes Punk to the ropes, but Punk hangs on, prompting Christian to charge in... right into a back-body-drop over the top rope to the floor! Christian has a hard landing on the floor, and while the referee begins to count, Punk looks to stay on the attack... plancha onto Christian! Both men crash to the floor, but it’s Punk who is in control, hitting a pair of rights before rolling Christian back into the ring and getting his first 2 count of the match. Punk now has control, and he looks to further this by sending Christian off the ropes... tilt-a-whirl backbreaker! 1... 2... Christian kicks out, and now the pace of the match quickens, as Punk sends Christian off the ropes... reversal... sunset flip from Punk... 1... 2... again Christian kicks out, and he quickly gets to his feet... clothesline sends Punk over the top rope! Punk slowly returns to his feet, but by this time, Christian is on the top rope... and he nails a crossbody off the top to the outside! Both men stay down a long time, and the referee makes it to 8 with his count before both men make it back in, with Christian managing to get another 2 count. Both men are feeling the effects of the match now, but Christian looks to build some momentum, driving Punk to the corner with right hands and looking to send him across... reversal by Punk... he charges in for the knee to the face... but Christian ducks, and Punk hits the turnbuckle, and here comes Christian... but Punk flapjacks him face first into the top turnbuckle, before charging in... this time the knee connects, and Punk comes out with a bulldog... 1... 2... Christian gets the shoulder up. Punk now looks to press home his advantage, connecting with right hands before sending Christian off the ropes... and scooping him up again... GTS... no! Again Christian fights out of it, before kicking Punk in the gut, twisting him round for... the unprettier! Christian plants the champion... Cole: Christian with the cover... 1... 2... Coach: We’ve got a new champion! Cole: 3! No! Wait... Punk had a foot on the rope! Coach: What?! I don’t think he got there in time. Cole: The referee says it’s only a 2 count. Christian’s smile soon turns to dismay as the ref confirms it was only 2, but the challenger looks to stay on the attack, climbing to the second rope and waiting for Punk to get back to his feet... diving corkscrew uppercut! 1... 2... Punk barley gets the shoulder up. Again Christian looks disappointed, but he fights on, scoring rights and lefts before scooping Punk up and slamming him to the mat and climbing to the top rope. Christian make sit, steadies himself and goes for... a diving headbutt... no! Punk rolls out of the way, and Christian crashes head first to the mat. Both men take their time to get back up, and the champion looks to get the advantage, connecting with right hands and kicks before scooping Christian on his shoulders... GTS! Punk hits the GTS, but before he can go for the cover... Bobby Lashley charges down to the ring and jumps up onto the apron... but he runs right into a kick from Punk! Lashley crashes to the floor, but Christian is back on his feet... unprettier! Christian plants Punk, but before he can go for the cover, someone comes through the crowd and jumps the barricade, slides into the ring and... Cole: Oh! What the hell...?! Coach: It’s Edge! Cole: Edge just speared Christian... and the refs calling for the bell... Christian beat CM Punk by disqualification (A) Cole: Edge, who was fired a couple of weeks ago by JBL... what’s he doing here? Coach: Uh... well... I guess since JBL is no longer Smackdown general manager, Edge is back on the roster. Cole: Well he’s returned tonight at Armageddon, and he’s just screwed Christian out of the World Heavyweight Championship! ------------------- We again go to the Revolution dressing room, where we see Shane McMahon, Triple H and Kenny Dykstra deep in conversation... Shane: Look Hunter, I know I don’t have to tell you how important this is... but I’m gonna tell you anyway. This is huge tonight. I mean, Survivor Series was big, but this is... Triple H: Shane, Shane... relax. I got it done at Survivor Series, and I’ll get it done tonight. Dykstra: Yeah but, I mean... you got a little bit help at Survivor Series man. Triple H: What? What the hell did you say? Dykstra: No, no... nothing. I was just saying... you got a little bit of help, that’s all. Triple H: You better watch your mouth Dykstra. The only reason your Intercontinental Champion right now is because I’m letting you hold that belt. Dykstra: Oh yeah? Well maybe I’ll... Shane: Hey, hey! What are you two doing? We need to stick together here alright. Triple H: You listen to me Dykstra, I don’t need any help out there tonight. I’m going to win that WWE Championship, and I don’t want to see any of you guys out there tonight. Dykstra: After what you just said to me... you don’t have to worry about me being anywhere near that ring. ------------------- WWE Championship Fatal Four Way Match Jeff Hardy (C) v Triple H v Randy Orton v John Cena As the bell rings, the tension between all four competitors is visibly noticeable, and even Ric Flair at ringside can sense it too. The first to make a move is Orton, as he inches his way towards Jeff Hardy, leading to Cena and Triple H inching themselves towards that confrontation. Orton then begins to slowly move towards Cena, with the Game making moves towards the champion. All four men then converge in the centre of the ring, and the trash talking ensues, with Cena and Orton trading insults and Triple H talking down at Jeff. Eventually, Cena and Hardy start throwing right hands and the match is under way, leading to a hard right sending Triple H under the bottom rope and a clothesline sending Orton over the top. Now Cena and Hardy turn to each other... and the right hands fly again! Cena and Hardy trade blow for blow, until Hardy rallies off three in a row driving Cena to the corner and then going for an Irish whip... reversal from Cena... whisper in the wind! Jeff connects, hooks the leg... 1... 2... Cena gets the shoulder up, but the match has started at a frantic pace, and it only quickens as Orton and Triple H return to the ring, with Orton nailing Hardy with a clothesline and then tossing the champion to the outside. Triple H follows suit as he sends Cena over the top rope, leading to a long, tense staredown between Orton and the Game... and, naturally, the fists fly between these two as well, until Orton drives Triple H to the ropes and sends him across... reversal... Cena grabs Orton’s foot as he comes off the ropes, dragging Orton to the outside, and now the two of them are brawling at the base of the entrance way, but here comes Hardy, sprinting around the ring and jumping to the steel steps... and then launching himself onto both Cena and Orton! Hardy is quickly confronted by the Game, who joins the other three on the outside, nailing Hardy with a kick then tossing him into the ringpost. The Game now grabs Orton and whips him into the steel steps, then he grabs Cena... oh! A hard slam to the floor, but now Hardy is back up, and he dropkicks the Game from behind into the barricade. Hardy now begins to climb to the top rope, and as the other three slowly get back to their feet, Hardy launches himself at them... and connects with a moonsault from the top rope to the outside! It takes an eternity for any of the four to stir, but eventually Hardy grabs Triple H and tosses him back into the ring, and the champion stays on the attack, hitting the double-legdrop to the groin and then getting a near fall. Hardy is back up quickly, sending Triple H to the corner and charging in... but he runs into an elbow and then Triple H takes him down with a clothesline... but wait... John Cena is climbing to the top rope, and as Hardy and Triple H use each other to get back up, here comes Cena... double-legdrop! Cena catches both men, and he hooks Hardy’s leg... 1... 2... the champion kicks out. Randy Orton then explodes back into the ring b nailing Cena with a clothesline, before laying the boots to the other three men and then sending Hardy and Triple H over the top rope. Orton now turns his attention to Cena, with the memories of their long feud rushing back, the two begin trading right hands until Orton catches Cena with the inverted backbreaker for a near fall. Orton now begins to stomp his way around Cena’s body, his boots aimed specifically at Cena’s previously injured pectoral muscle, before dragging Cena to his feet and sending him to the corner... reversal... here comes Cena... oh! Orton moves, and Cena goes shoulder first into the ringpost and falls to the floor, but there’s no rest for Orton, as Hardy springs back into the ring, hitting right hands and sending Orton off the ropes... reversal... Hardy ducks a clothesline... sitout jawbreaker... but Triple H fires into the ring with a high knee to the face, and here’s the cover... 1... 2... Orton makes the save and jumps on Hardy... 1... 2... Triple H drags Orton off, and now the two again engage in a staredown... but this time cooler heads prevail, as the two decided to focus their energies on Hardy, assaulting the champion with a series of right hand and kicks before a double Irish whip sends Hardy hard into the corner. More stomps follow, until Cena climbs up on the apron... only for Triple H to place a knee into the back, sending Cena face first off the Smackdown announce desk. Orton and the Game again target Hardy, punishing the champion with hard shots and in particular focusing on his back, working together to hit double team moves like a double back-body-drop to great effect. Again they look to send Hardy off the ropes for the double back=body-drop, but this time Jeff hits Orton with a swinging neckbreaker, and Cena catches Triple H with a bulldog. Cena now looks to build momentum, hitting all three men with flying shoulderblocks and then dropping Orton with a sitout hiptoss. With the other three down, Cena begins posing for the crowd, before lining Orton up for... the five knuckle shuffle! Cena connects, but he turns right into... a pedigree! The game plants Cena, hooks the leg... 1... 2... Hardy saves his title! Jeff dives in to break up the count, and he now takes the fight to Triple H, hitting right hands, then sending him to the corner... Hardy charges in, just as Orton makes it back to his knees... whisper in the wind! Orton offers an assist that he knew little about, and with Cena and Triple H down, Hardy turns to Orton... kick... twist of fate! Twist of fate! Hardy plants Orton, climbs to the top rope... King: Here he comes... JR: Swanton bomb! A hellacious swanton from the champion! King: Here’s the cover... JR: 1... 2... what the hell? King: It’s Shane McMahon! JR: Shane just dragged the referee out of the ring! And then Shane nails the ref with a right hand... but here comes Ric Flair! Flair rocks Shane with a series of rights and lefts, brawling with Shane at the foot of the ramp... until Harry Smith and TJ Wilson run down, assaulting Flair... but here comes Jeff... suicide dive takes out all of them! The crowd goes wild at the sight of the champion flying through the air, but back in the ring, Triple H is back up, and he has Cena in his sights... pedigree... no! Cena counters... STFU! STFU! Cena has it locked in... and the Game is tapping... but there’s no referee! The Game taps furiously, but there’s no-one to ring the bell, and eventually Orton breaks up the submission move with an elbow drop. Hardy manages to roll himself back into the ring, hitting right hands to Orton and sending him off the ropes... Orton ducks a clothesline... RKO! RKO! RKO from Orton, and here’s the cover... but there’s still no ref... wait! Here comes one sprinting down to the ring... 1... 2... Hardy gets the shoulder up! The crowd erupts as Hardy stays alive, and on the outside, Flair is nailing all three members of Revolution... oh! Until Kenny Dykstra sprints down and nails him with a chair! JR and King are in shock, especially after what we heard earlier, and now Dykstra helps Shane back to his feet, but the action continues in the ring, as Orton drops to that viper position, lining up Hardy for the punt to the head... here he comes... no! Orton runs right into John Cena... FU! FU to Orton! But before Cena can go for the cover, Hardy grabs him... twist of fate! Twist of fate to Cena, and Hardy again looks to climb to the top rope... oh! Only for Dykstra to nail Jeff with the chair as he steps through the ropes, and Hardy staggers right into a... JR: Pedigree! Triple H hits the pedigree! King: Here’s the cover... 1... JR: No! Not like this... King: 2... JR: Not like this... King: 3! Revolution has just screwed Jeff Hardy out of the WWE Title! That no good son of a bitch Shane McMahon has done it again! King: JR, do you still want to have a job tomorrow night? JR: Ah screw it! Right now I don’t give a damn. It was Jeff Hardy’s dream to be WWE Champion, and he’s had it taken away from him, and it took all that Revolution had to take it away from him. It makes me sick! King: What’s gonna happen tomorrow night JR? I mean, we’re starting the road to the Royal Rumble tomorrow night on Raw, and now we’ve got Triple H as our champion again.
great show once again, long live revolution!!
Cheers for that mate. :) Right, now that Armageddon is over with we're now into 2009, which means I'm now running this diary on TEW2008. I've only booked the next Raw and ECW so far, and while the match ratings are down a tad (especially for some of the newer guys) the promos are delivering higher overall show ratings, which can only be a good thing. Anyway, here is a touch of the end of year stuff from the 07 databse: Despite not wrestling a match until July 2008 (due to his real life injury from the end of 2007 being set to last until then when I started the game), John Cena was wrestler of the year. WWE won promotion of the year, Kenny Dykstra won young wrestler of the year, and despite retiring from active competition at the end of March, Ric Flair won veteran wrestler of the year. So yeah, I'm considering posting a recap/history type post in the first post of the thread (although the only people I've seen do that is Nevermore and Tristram and I don't want to appear big headed by following suit) but only if people think it'll be worthwhile, otherwise I'll just carry on. But yeah, it was a fun 2008 and here's hoping 2009 is just as good. And enjoy the real life Wrestlemania XXV tonight, and hopefully mine can come even halfway as close when I finally get there.

We start the show with a highlights video of what went down last night at Armageddon, in particular the WWE Championship match, before the tradition opening Raw video plays out, until we hit the arena for a huge burst of pyro. The camera scans the crowd before turning to the announce desk and Jim Ross and Jerry 'The King' Lawler... JR: Last night at Armageddon, Triple H, with a whole lot of help from his Revolution team-mates, won the fatal four way to become the new WWE Champion. As we kick off 2009, Monday Night Raw is once again under McMahon control. Hello everyone, and a happy new year to you all from good ol’ JR, Jim Ross, alongside Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler, we are live tonight in Toronto, ON, Canada, and King, what will Revolution have in store for us tonight? King: Well I hate to speculate, but I know it’s gonna be bad news for all of us. But JR, you know what I’m really excited about tonight? JR: What’s that? King: We’re kicking off the road to the Rumble! That’s right, the Royal Rumble is coming up at the end of this month, and who knows who’s going to win the Rumble and go on to headline Wrestlemania. JR: It’s gonna be a hell of an event, and we’ll have the first of the Royal Rumble qualifiers live tonight... JR is interrupted as The Time Is Now plays out... JR: But it seems that we’re kicking off 2009 with John Cena! King: John Cena came so close to winning the title last night, and you have to think he’s out here tonight to deliver a message to Triple H. JR: Well let’s find out what Cena has to say... Cena: I honestly don’t know what to say. I mean... last night... I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I mean, Jeff Hardy is my friend, I got all the respect in the world for Jeff Hardy. But somehow... Triple H... is sat back there as we speak, and he has the WWE Title around his waist! And you know what? That should be me! I had you beat Triple H! I want everybody to take a look at some footage from last night. Roll the tape...
From last night at Armageddon The crowd goes wild at the sight of the champion flying through the air, but back in the ring, Triple H is back up, and he has Cena in his sights... pedigree... no! Cena counters... STFU! STFU! Cena has it locked in... and the Game is tapping... but there’s no referee! The Game taps furiously, but there’s no-one to ring the bell, and eventually Orton breaks up the submission move with an elbow drop.
Cena: You see that Triple H? Huh? Did you see the part where I had you tapping your ass off in the centre of the damn ring! You were beat, you were done... yet somehow you’re the damn champion again. Well you know what? I’m not going to stand for it anymore! I refuse to stand by and watch you and Shane running things around here. So Triple H... I got a challenge for you. You and me, one on one, for the WWE Championship... tonight! If you’re any kind of a champion... and if you’re any kind of a man... you’ll put that title on the line right here in Toronto! Heroes by Motorhead plays out... King: I was wondering when these guys would show up. JR: Well that was quite the challenge made by John Cena, and here comes Revolution to give him his answer. King: Well it was quite the 2008 for those five men right there, and I can only hope 2009 isn’t as good, ‘cause I don’t know if I could stand these guys running the show for another year. JR: You and me both partner... The five members of Revolution, Raw GM Shane McMahon, new WWE Champion Triple H, the Intercontinental Champion Kenny Dykstra and the Canadian Bulldogs, Harry Smith and TJ Wilson step out onto the stage, dressed in sharp suits and sunglasses. Triple H has a microphone in hand and he begins to speak... Triple H: John, John, John... why are you out here getting yourself all worked up huh? When are you gonna get it through that thick skull of yours, that despite what you claim, that despite all the little videos you wanna show... when are you gonna realise, that quite simply... I’m better than you. I’m better than you, I’m better than Randy Orton... and most importantly, I’m better than Jeff Hardy. I’m better than all of you, and last night at Armageddon... I proved it when I became the new WWE Champion. I don’t care what you wanna show on the tron, all that matters is the fact that the WWE Title is once again around my waist. But I’m not gonna lie to you John... I’m getting just a little bit sick and tired of you coming out here and running your mouth week after week. So I tell you what John. You want me tonight? You can have me! But... it not going to be one on one. It’s going to be five on one... and it’s gonna happen right now! King: What?! JR: Oh now c’mon! You gotta be kiddin’ me! Revolution is fixing for a fight with John Cena! King: Well... there you see Revolution walking down the ramp but... why doesn’t John Cena get out of there? JR: John Cena’s not going to run away from a fight, regardless of the odds. He’ll... King: JR, look! The crowd erupts at the sight of Jeff Hardy racing down the ramp, steel chair in hand... JR: It’s Jeff Hardy! King: And he’s got company... oh! JR: A shot to Shane... a shot to TJ! King: Here comes Cena! JR: We’ve got a brawl happening on the ramp! Cena and Hardy are kicking Revolution’s ass! King: Oh! Harry just to a shot from the chair! JR: Yeah and look at our general manager and our champion. They’re running up the ramp like scalded dogs! King: Oh no... Cena and Hardy... they’ve got Kenny all along in the ring. JR: Cena has Dykstra up on his shoulders... King: Look at Shane pleading with him... JR: FU! FU to Kenny Dykstra! And now Jeff Hardy’s going to the top rope... swanton bomb! My god what a swanton! King: And finally Harry and TJ are able to drag Kenny out of the ring... Shane: Hey! Hey! Hey, Cena, Hardy! You two listen to me, and you listen good. Let me guess Jeff, you want a title shot too tonight huh? You think you’re entitled to a rematch huh? Well it’s not gonna happen Jeff! I am saying it right here, right now. Triple H is not defending the WWE Title until the Royal Rumble. At the sound of that, Triple H begins to whisper something in Shane’s ear... Shane: Oh ho-ho, oh that is genius. Genius! Hunter just said something to me... and I love the sound of it. Instead of either John Cena or Jeff Hardy against Triple H tonight... we’re gonna see, John Cena and Jeff Hardy one on one tonight. And you know what? That match is gonna have a very special stipulation attached to it. You see, the winner of your match tonight guys... that person will go onto the Royal Rumble and they will face Triple H for the WWE Championship. That’s right, the winner of your match will be the number one contender for the title. But the loser of your match tonight... the loser is gonna have to enter the Royal Rumble match... as entrant number one! JR: Oh c’mon! This is getting ridiculous! King: JR... does that mean that either John Cena or Jeff Hardy is gonna enter the Royal Rumble at number one?! JR: That’s exactly what it means. Shane: And you two remember this... you don’t screw with Revolution and get away it! Have a good night guys... JR: Well once again, Shane McMahon has stacked the deck firmly in Revolution’s favour. King: What a main event we’ve got in store though. John Cena and Jeff Hardy one on one tonight! ------------------- Royal Rumble Qualifying Match Deuce v Cody Rhodes The first spot in the Royal Rumble match is up for grabs as Cody Rhodes takes on Domino. Domino and Cherry accompany Deuce to the ring, and early on they watch their man being outclassed by the youngster, as Cody frustrates Deuce with chain wrestling and avoiding all of Deuce’s attempted offense. After once again being taken down with a waistlock, Deuce rolls to the floor to try and regroup. Once back in the ring, Deuce manages to catch Cody with a stiff right hand, before scoop slamming Cody to the mat and dropping the knee to the face. Deuce then begins clubbing Cody from above, before driving him to the corner and hitting uppercuts. An Irish whip sends Cody across, but as Deuce charges in, Cody gets the foot up and quickly goes to the second rope... bulldog! Cody drives Deuce to the mat, goes for the cover... 1... 2... Deuce gets the shoulder up. Cody stays on the attack, hitting a Russian legdrop before climbing to the top rope... moonsault... no! Domino is up on the apron... a kick to the face sends him flying, but Deuce is back up... back suplex from the top rope! Deuce manages to drape an arm over Cody... 1... 2... Cody gets the shoulder up! Deuce can’t believe it, but he looks to end it with... the crack ‘em in da mouth... but Cody ducks the boot and quickly gets back on his feet... kick to the gut... DDT! Cody plants Deuce, hooks the leg... 1... 2... 3! Cody Rhodes beat Deuce to qualify for the Royal Rumble (C+) ------------------ In the locker-room area, the World Tag Team Champions Mr Kennedy and Chris Jericho are getting ready for their match tonight... Kennedy: I can’t believe what Shane is trying to pull on us. I mean, we just defended our titles last night, and now we got to defend them again against Carlito and Primo? Jericho: What did you expect? Shane doesn’t want these titles around our waists. I don’t think he cares whether or not it’s the Bulldogs or Carlito and Primo that take them off us. Kennedy: Yeah maybe you’re right. But I’m not finished with Harry and TJ, and I still want to get my hands on Kenny too. Jericho: Hey, how about instead of worrying about Revolution, we concentrate on defending the tag titles tonight? Kennedy: Yeah alright I know we gotta focus on that, but still... I owe those guys, and I’m not going to forget that. Jericho: Well you know what? You and me are tag team champions, and as your partner, you owe me something too. Kennedy: What’s that? Jericho: You owe me your focus on tonight. Kennedy: Alright, alright, take it easy. You got it, I’m focused. Jericho: Good. I’ll see you later... Kennedy: What the hell's up with him? ------------------- Beth Phoenix v Jillian Hall The Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix is in action, stepping into the ring with Jillian Hall, who treats us to a shocking rendition of ‘Oh Canada’ before the start of the match. Jillian starts the match fast, catching the champion from behind as she hands over the belt, hitting a knee to the back and using the ropes to choke Beth, before taking the champion down with a vertical suplex and getting a 2 count. Back on their feet, Beth blocks a right hand before scoring with forearms and clotheslines, before nailing a sidewalk slam for a 2 count. It’s at this point that Natalya Niedhart steps out onto the top of the ramp, immediately drawing the attention of Phoenix. Jillian uses this to regain control by again attacking Beth from behind, and she looks to wear the champion down by locking on a bridging reverse chinlock. Jillian wrenches back on Beth’s neck, and it takes Beth crawling to the ropes to break the hold. Jillian looks to stay on the attack, hitting a standing moonsault for another 2 count and setting Beth up for the widow’s peak... but Beth blocks it, hitting a series of forearms to the head and sending Jillian off the ropes... gorilla press slam! Beth sends Jillian down, catches her with a series of clothesline, and with Jillian staggering to her feet, the champion is waiting... glam slam! Phoenix connects, hooks the leg... 1... 2... 3! Phoenix grabs the win and engages in a tense staredown with Natalya, who simply smirks at the champion before heading backstage. Beth Phoenix beat Jillian Hall (B-) ------------------- Backstage, Maria is standing by... Maria: Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my guest at this time... the Animal, Batista! And Batista, last night at Armageddon, you beat Shawn Michaels and... Batista: Whoa, whoa, whoa... stop right there. Let’s just get a few facts straight right away. I didn’t just beat Shawn Michaels last night... I dominated him. I decimated him, I destroyed him, I unleashed the Animal last night. For the first time in years, I finally feel like I’m back to being myself. But right now, I feel like there’s one thing missing... and that’s the WWE Championship. I just damn near killed Shawn Michaels... but I don’t see my name being mentioned for a title shot. Oh no, once again, it’s John Cena and Jeff Hardy who get the first chance at the title shots. And I’ve they’re just gonna be handed title shots on a platter... then I guess I’m just gonna have to earn my title shots. And that starts at the Royal Rumble. Next week, I’ll have my qualifying match for the Rumble. I’m gonna qualify, and then I’m going to win the Royal Rumble. And then, I will become the WWE Champion... and guys like John Cena and Jeff Hardy will go back to being an afterthought in this company. ------------------- The camera then cuts to another backstage area and to the sight of Mickie James and Candice Michelle hanging around and engaging in mindless chat about boobs or something like that when they are approached by a newcomer... ????: Hi... I’m Dolph Ziggler. *offers handshake* Mickie: Excuse me? Dolph: I said hi... I’m... Dolph... Ziggler. *offers handshake again* Candice: Oh, um... hi. Mickie: Hey there. Dolph: I couldn’t help but notice you two ladies just hanging around, looking so fine... and I just felt like I had to introduce myself. Mickie: Uh, well... that’s great. Dolph: Hey ladies... I got a question for you. What’s that polar bear doing over there? Candice: What? Mickie: What are you talking about? There’s no polar bear anywhere. Dolph: Yeah there is. He’s right over there. Mickie: Are you mental or something? Candice: Yeah, like seriously... what are you talking about? Dolph: Oh wait, I see what that polar bear’s doing... he’s breaking the ice! Candice: Oh my God... Mickie: What a sleaze ball... The collective sighs of the girls are interrupted as a furious looking Mark Henry bursts into the shot... Henry: Hey! Any of you three seen Finlay and that little runt of his? Mickie: Uh, no. Candice: Sorry... Dolph: Hi... I’m Dolph Ziggler. *offers handshake* Henry: What? *growls* Dolph: I said hi... I’m... Dolph... uh... never mind. *retracts handshake* Henry: I don’t give a damn who you are. Listen, you see Finlay you tell him I’m looking for him. Mickie: Will do. Henry walks away muttering to himself while Dolph is stood there with a smug look on his face. Mickie and Candice also vacate the area, but as Dolph turns to leave, Hornswoggle bursts out from a trash can having heard what Henry said, and also shocking Dolph... Dolph: Whoa... what the... hey there little guy... I’m Dolph Ziggler. *offers handshake* Hornswoggle stares at Dolph’s hand for a few seconds before letting out a grunt, biting Ziggler on the hand and then scurrying away, leaving Dolph red-faced... ----------------- World Tag Team Championship Match Mr Kennedy and Chris Jericho (C) v Carlito and Primo As we found out earlier, this match was made by Shane McMahon less than 24 hours after Jericho and Kennedy defended the titles at Armageddon. Since they weren’t involved in the outcome of the match, Carlito and Primo no doubt feel this match is fully justified. Unfortunately for them, Jericho and Kennedy work well early on, despite the obvious tension between the two earlier. Jericho quickly gets the upperhand of Carlito, focusing on his arm by wrenching away on it and driving his shoulder into Carlito and tagging in Kenned, who continues the focus on the arm by planting Carlito with a shoulderbeaker for a 2 count. Jericho comes back in and goes for a spinning heel kick, but Carlito ducks, leaving Jericho to crash to the mat. Primo gets the tag, and he goes to work, kicking Jericho in the back of the head, following up with a knee to the gut and a swinging neckbreaker. The Colon’s now use their advantage in teamwork to work on Jericho, with Carlito nailing an underhook backbreaker leading to a splash off the top from Primo, getting the challengers a 2 count. Carlito and Primo make plenty of tags, punishing Jericho and even distracting the referee long enough for Apolo to do some damage on the outside. Jericho is clearly struggling, but he somehow manages to kick out of Primo’s corkscrew senton, leading to Carlito getting the tag and going for... the backstabber... no! Jericho hangs onto the top rope, and as Carlito crashes off the mat, he dives across the ring to tag in Kennedy. Kennedy comes in knocking down both Carlito and Primo, sending Carlito flying with a back-body-drop and sending Primo off the ropes... kick to the gut... forward Russian legsweep! Apolo now jumps onto the apron... right hand sends Apolo down, but here comes Carlito... backstabber! Carlito connects, we’ve got new champions... 1... 2... Jericho makes the save! Jericho now goes to work on Carlito, sending him off the ropes... reversal... Jericho ducks a clothesline... codebreaker! Jericho drops Carlito, goes for the cover... 1... 2... 3! Mr Kennedy and Chris Jericho beat Carlito and Primo to retain the World Tag Team Championship (B-) ------------------- Backstage, all five Revolution members are in their plush dressing-room... Dykstra: Look, Shane... I realise I was maybe a little out of line with what I said last night. Triple H: A little? Dykstra: OK, I was completely out of line. I shouldn’t have said what I said. But c’mon Shane, I made up for it when I nailed Jeff Hardy with that chair didn’t I? Shane: Well... to be honest, yeah you did. But uh... you’ve still gotta know your place here on my show. Dykstra: Yeah but... Finlay? I mean... I gotta defend my Intercontinental Title against Finlay? Triple H: What’s the matter Kenny? I mean, you’re not scared are ya? Dykstra: Hey, I’m not scared of nobody, but... well how come you don’t have to defend your title but I do? Triple H: I’m not gonna tell you again kid, you better watch your damn... Shane: Hey, hey! What the hell is wrong with you two?! You were arguing last night, and now you’re doing it again here? Enough! I don’t to want to see you two doing this anymore, understand? Look, Kenny, go out there and face Finlay, but take Harry and TJ with you. And don’t let that damn leprechaun get involved, understand? Harry: You got it boss. Shane: Alright, you three get out of here. Triple H: You listen to me Shane, I’m getting sick and tired of that punk running his mouth. Shane: Easy, easy... I’ll handle it. Just relax... ------------------- Royal Rumble Qualifying Match Randy Orton v Trevor Murdoch Looking to put the disappointment of last night behind him, Randy Orton steps into the ring with Trevor Murdoch, who has Lance Cade with him, for another Royal Rumble qualifier. Murdoch looks to attack as soon as the bell rings, sending Orton off the ropes and taking him down with shoulderblocks and clotheslines. Murdoch sends Orton to the corner, but as he charges in, Orton gets a boot up, catching Murdoch in the face before nailing a hard clothesline. Orton then begins to stomp all over Murdoch, dropping the elbow before sending Murdoch shoulder-first into the steel ringpost. Uppercuts follow until Murdoch is sent off the ropes, with Orton nailing a great dropkick before hitting a series of vicious forearms. Orton then locks on his customary chinlock, applying pressure to Murdoch, looking to wear him down. Cade tries to get the crowd to rally behind Murdoch, and eventually he struggles back to his feet, only for Orton to hit an inverted backbreaker, scoring a 2 count from it. Again another chinlock is put on, but this time Murdoch quickly counters out of it, getting a 2 count from a quick roll up before getting back to his feet and catching Orton with a bulldog. Murdoch looks to keep the pressure on, hitting right hands before nailing Orton with a vertical suplex for another 2 count. Murdoch then looks to climb to the top rope, but Orton pushes the referee into the ropes, sending Murdoch crashing to the mat. Murdoch struggles to get back to his feet, but as he makes it back up, Orton strikes... oh! RKO! Orton nails Murdoch with the RKO and Cade can only watch as he hooks the leg... 1... 2... 3. Randy Orton grabs the win and becomes the second man to qualify for the Royal Rumble match. Randy Orton beat Trevor Murdoch to qualify for the Royal Rumble (B) ----------------- We cut to the sight of Mark Henry pacing back and forth at the entrance to the arena, when Kenny Dykstra, Harry Smith and TJ Wilson walk up to him on their way to the ring... Dykstra: Henry... uh... what are you doing? Henry: What’s it look like I’m doing? I’m waiting for Finlay to get here. His match with you is up next right? Dykstra: Uh yeah, yeah it is. So... you want to kick Finlay’s ass, is that it? Henry: After the way he and that little runt of his embarrassed me last night, I want to smash his face in! Dykstra: I’m cool with that. Well, I gotta go hit the ring, so I hope he makes his way past here any second now. Good luck. Dykstra and the Bulldogs walk off with big grins on their faces, believing Finlay is about to be decimated by Henry, meaning there will be no Intercontinental Title match. The camera focuses on Henry for a few more seconds... until he sees Hornswoggle waving at him at the other end of a corridor! Henry’s face turns to rage and he starts walking towards Hornswoggle... only for Finlay to blindside him with the shillelagh! JR: What in the hell? King: Well Henry was waiting for Finlay but... oh! It looks like Finlay was setting a trap for Henry! JR: And what are they doing now? Finlay... what is this? King: What the... did they just lock Henry in that room? JR: I think they did! King: God, listen to Henry trying to bust his way out of there. JR: Finlay and Hornswoggle have once again got the better of Mark Henry! And the Intercontinental Title match is happening when we return... Intercontinental Title Match Kenny Dykstra (C) v Finlay Straight from the first tie-up, the hardnosed veteran Finlay looks to establish some dominance on the young champion, as when Kenny tries to act arrogantly, Finlay just gives him a stiff slap to the face, before pulling Kenny in for a short-arm clothesline and then a scoop slam for a 2 count. Kenny immediately rolls to the floor to regroup with the Bulldogs, but Finlay follows him out onto the apron, delivering a kick to the chest... only for Kenny to sweep his leg, dropping Finlay on the apron. Hornswoggle tries to inch closer to check on Finlay, but TJ and Harry are quick to chase him away, leading to Hornswoggle diving under the ring for safety. Back in the ring, Dykstra sends Finlay hard into the corner, but when he charges in he runs into a boot, leading to Finlay going to the second rope, only for Kenny to show great athleticism by dropkicking Finlay over the top rope to the outside. Kenny distracts the ref as the Bulldogs get in a few cheap shots and toss Finlay back into the ring, with Kenny getting a near fall. Kenny then drops Finlay with a neckbreaker and locks on a reverse headlock, holding Finlay down for a long time. Eventually the crowd gets behind Finlay, and he drives Kenny to the corner to break the hold before hitting an atomic drop and following with a dropkick for a near fall. Finlay has all the momentum now, and he looks to hammer it home... rolling fireman’s carry slam! 1... 2... Kenny gets the shoulder up, but the title is there for Finlay to win, and after a few uppercuts he again has Kenny in trouble... and he gets him up for... the Celtic Cross! Finlay plants Kenny, but before he can go for the cover, Harry and TJ start digging under the ring... and they drag out Hornswoggle! The little guy is helpless as Harry and TJ have him by the jacket, but Finlay now heads over to the ropes and catches TJ with a right hand, but as he swings for Harry, Kenny comes up from behind with a school boy... 1... 2... he’s got the tights... 3! Kenny Dykstra beat Finlay to retain the Intercontinental Title (B) JR: Well that was a hell of an effort from the veteran Finlay, but the numbers of Revolution just proved too much for him to overcome. King: At one point I thought Finlay had it won, but Harry and TJ did the job they were sent out here to do. They saved the title for Kenny and... JR: Oh now wait a second. Kenny, Harry and TJ... there’s no need for this. King: These three are just stomping away at Finlay now and... GONG King: What the...? JR: Well the lights have gone out now... GONG King: I got a bad feeling about this JR... JR: I can’t see a thing... GONG King: Oh my God JR, look at the titan-tron... King: Does that mean what I think it means? JR: I guess it does. The Undertaker is returning at the Royal Rumble! King: And look at the look on Revolution’s faces! They look like they’ve seen a ghost. JR: Well it was Revolution who put The Undertaker out of action just before the Survivor Series. King: You don’t think The Undertaker is coming back looking for revenge do you? JR: You better doggone believe he is! ------------------ JR: Welcome back to Monday Night Raw folks. Up next, a match made earlier tonight by Shane McMahon. King: Right. Jeff Hardy and John Cena one on one, the winner gets a shot at Triple H and the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble, but the loser has to enter the Royal Rumble match at number one. JR: This is a match made purely for Revolution’s enjoyment. We know that much. But who’s going to the Rumble to face Triple H? We’re about to find out... Jeff Hardy v John Cena As the bell rings, the crowd is hot for this one, but neither Cena nor Hardy share their enthusiasm, with neither man wanting to take on the other. A handshake is exchanged between the two and we’re under way, with Cena quickly locking Jeff into a side-headlock, showing he has the power advantage. Jeff then shows off his strength, as he’s able to counter into a headlock of his own and take Cena down to the mat. Cena gets back to his feet and is able to send Jeff off the ropes, and he then shows great agility to leapfrog and then take Hardy down with a hiptoss. Jeff is quickly back up, but Cena slams him back down before coming off the ropes for an elbow drop, scoring an early 2 count. Cena quickly goes back to the side headlock, but this time it’s Hardy who struggles back to his feet, sending Cena off the ropes and firing back with a hiptoss of his own. Cena is quickly back up, but Hardy kicks him in the gut and takes him down with a snap suplex for another near fall. Both men are back up, and Hardy sends Cena off the ropes... reversal... Cena with the drop-toe-hold... STFU! Cena tries to lock it in, but Hardy fights it, kicking his way out and sending Cena through the ropes to the floor. Cena gets back to his feet, but Hardy stays on the attack, flying over the top rope with a plancha before rolling Cena back into the ring for a near fall. Hardy now looks to build momentum, hitting right hands and sending Cena to the corner... and Jeff follows in with a clothesline which drops Cena to the mat, leading to Jeff again charging in... rope-aided corner dropkick! 1... 2... Cena gets the shoulder up, but Hardy looks to quicken the pace, going for an Irish whip... Cena reverses... Jeff ducks his clothesline... sitout jawbreaker! Hardy is back up... but he runs into a boot from Cena who comes off the ropes... bulldog! 1... 2... Hardy kicks out. Both men are now starting to feel the toll of the match, and Jeff crawls to the corner to use the ropes to drag himself up, but Cena is right there, sending him across... Cena charges in... but he runs into a boot... sitout suplex slam from Hardy! Hardy plants Cena... and now he climbs to the top rope, steadies himself... swanton bomb... no! Cena rolls out of the way, and both stay down until the referee counts to 8. Both men slowly get back up, and Cena charges at Hardy, ducking a clothesline and coming off the ropes... flying shoulderblock! Cena quickens the pace... another flying shoulderblock... followed by a sitout hiptoss! Hardy is down, and Cena comes off the ropes... five knuckle shuffle! Cena has all the momentum now, and he waits for an age before Jeff gets back up... FU... no! Hardy desperately swings his elbow to break free, landing on his feet... twist of fate... no! Cena pushes Hardy off into the corner, and Jeff runs to the top rope... whisper in the wind! Hardy connects, hooks the leg... 1... 2... Cena kicks out! Jeff almost had it, but he stays on the attack, coming off the ropes... crossbody... but Cena catches him, and he hoists him on his shoulders... FU! Cena nails the FU and hooks the leg... 1... 2... 3! John Cena beat Jeff Hardy (B+) JR: John Cena has done it! John Cena is going to the Royal Rumble to face Triple H! King: Yeah but that means Jeff Hardy is entering the Royal Rumble at number one. JR: I believe that Jeff Hardy could pull it off. Jeff could go the distance and... King: Oh! What in the world?! JR: It’s Triple H! That no good son of a bitch just nailed John Cena with that sledgehammer. King: And now he’s waiting for Jeff to get back up... JR: No, no... no! A shot to the skull of Jeff Hardy with the sledgehammer! Goddammit! Triple H, he waited until Hardy and Cena had taken themselves to the limit, and then he struck. King: The Game has just laid out both Jeff Hardy and John Cena with that sledgehammer. JR: Yeah but he did with a sneak attack from behind. Well, we’re out of time folks. A video recap of Armageddon is shown, highlighting the ECW Championship match and the the shocking actions of Kane after the bell. The usual opening video follows, and after a blaze of pyro, the camera spans the crowd and eventually settles on commentators Joey Styles and Tazz... Styles: Welcome everybody to the first ECW on Sci-Fi of 2009! Hello everyone, I’m Joey Styles alongside Tazz, we’re in Toronto, ONT, Canada fresh off the heels of an explosive Armageddon pay-per-view which saw Kurt Angle retain the ECW Championship. Tazz: Kurt Angle took on Colt Cabana and Kane in a triple threat match and the champ prevailed, but after the match, Kane absolutely snapped. I mean, we all know the problems Kane has been having in recent months, but he just straight up lost it last night. Colt Cabana suffered a chokeslam after the bell, and then Kurt Angle was tombstoned through our announce desk! Styles: And with the history of neck problems Kurt Angle has had, it should come as no surprise that Kurt Angle is not here tonight. We understand Kurt is at home, recovering from last night... and maybe this man can give us an update as to what’s going on around here. Here comes the ECW general manager Mick Foley. Tazz: Well we definitely need an update on Kurt Angle’s status, and what’s gonna happen with Kane and Colt Cabana now? Foley: First of all, I just want to say how great it is to be here tonight in Toronto, ONT, Canada! Second of all, last night at Armageddon, three of the best ECW has to offer went out there and put on one hell of an ECW Championship match. Kurt Angle retained the title, Colt Cabana’s winning streak came to an end... and then there was Kane. Kane, I remember when you went flying off the stage that night all those months ago. I remember when they took you to the hospital, and I remember when they took you away to that mental institution. I stood by you back then Kane. I called the hospital, I checked on you, I wanted to know if you were OK... because I wanted you back on ECW. And when you broke out of the mental institute in the middle of the night, and nobody on the WWE board of directors wanted you anywhere near a WWE ring... I fought to bring you back. I stood by you Kane, I put you back in the title hunt... and this is how you repay me. You tombstone the ECW Champion through a damn announce desk! Kurt Angle, a guy with a ton of neck problems over the years... and you tombstoned him through a table! Well, I can stand by you no more Kane. Kane... I know you’re back there... I want you to listen to me closely. You think your actions at Armageddon are going to get you another title shot? You think you can just flip out and do whatever you want? Well you’re gonna learn Kane, that this is my show and you will abide by my rules. Kane... due to your actions last night... you will not be receiving any ECW Title shots until I decide otherwise! Styles: Whoa, so Kane is banned from competing for the ECW Title now? Tazz: That’s what it sounds like yeah. I don’t think Kane’s gonna be all that happy about it. Styles: I don’t think Kane’s been happy for a while now. Foley: And since Kane is out of the title picture, we’re going to need to crown a new number one contender for the Royal Rumble. That’s why tonight, one on one for the right to face Kurt Angle for the ECW Championship... it’s going to be The Brian Kendrick... and Colt Cabana! Have a nice day! Styles: What a main event that’s going to be! Kendrick and Cabana one on one for the right to face Kurt Angle at the Royal Rumble! Tazz: Yeah but what about Kane? Styles: Well Kane is out of the picture, just like Mick Foley said. Tazz: Yeah but we know Kane’s here tonight, so what’s his response gonna be? ----------------- Extreme Rules Match Shelton Benjamin v Mike Knox A plethora of weapons surround the ring as Mike Knox and Shelton Benjamin get set for their extreme rules match. It’s clear from the first tie-up that Knox will have the power advantage, and he puts it to good use, hitting rights to the face, clubbing blows to the back and kicks to the gut before coming off the ropes for a shoulderblock. Knox then looks for an elbow-drop, but Benjamin rolls out of the way before nailing several right hands and sending Knox over the top rope with a clothesline. On the outside, Benjamin sends Knox face first off the barricade and then shoulder first into the steel steps, before Shelton reaches into a trash can and pulls out a metal tray... and promptly cracks it across Knox’s back! After another couple of shots, Knox slides back into the ring for safety, and he’s able to get to his feet quickly and stomp down on Shelton as he slides back in. Knox then drops an elbow to the back before dragging Shelton to his feet... and taking him up for a long vertical suplex. After a near fall, Knox begins to use the ropes to choke Shelton, before Knox decides is turn to use some weapons, tossing a trash can into the ring and then reaching under the ring for a hockey stick (well we are in Toronto after all). Knox slides the tick into the ring, but Benjamin is back up, and he grabs the trash can and tosses it into the air... and Knox catches it... but here comes Benjamin... suicide dive onto Knox and the can! Benjamin uses his body to drive the can into Knox’s face, and now Shelton grabs a kendo stick and starts unloading on Knox’s spine before tossing him back into the ring. Shelton now grabs the hockey stick and soaks in the cheers of the crowd, before cracking Knox on the head with it. The force makes Knox slump into the corner, and Benjamin now places the trash on top of Knox’s head and he retreats to the opposite corner, charges in... big splash onto the trash can! Benjamin has all the momentum, and the crowd again cheers as he reaches under the ring for a table! Benjamin props the table up one corner and then goes to the opposite on where Knox is, dragging him to his feet and then going for an Irish whip... Knox reverses... but Benjamin uses the ropes stop himself going through the table... but as he turns, here comes Knox... bicycle kick sends Shelton through the table! Knox nails Shelton and then drags him out for a cover... 1... 2... Shelton gets the shoulder up! Knox looks to stay in control by going to the outside and bringing a chair into the ring, and after nailing Shelton on the back with it, he lays it down and drags Benjamin to his feet, readying him for... a Knox-out on the chair... no! Benjamin manages to kick Knox in the head, before grabbing the chair... oh! A huge shot to the skull, but it only staggers Knox, so Benjamin places it back down and goes for... paydirt on the chair! Shelton plants Knox, hooks the leg... 1... 2... 3! Shelton Benjamin beat Mike Knox (C+) ------------------- Backstage, Anastacia Rose is standing by... Rose: Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my guest at this time... The Brian Kendrick! And Brian, last night at Armageddon you lost the Cruiserweight Championship to Paul London in a ladder match. Brian, where do you go from here? The Kendrick: What’s next for me? Listen toots, The Kendrick is always looking up. Paul London? I’m fed up with him. Truth be told, I let him win last night just so he’d leave me alone. So now, I’m going straight to the top here on ECW. And it all starts tonight, when I beat Colt Cabana to become the number one contender for the ECW Championship. I’m going to help Colt Cabana continue with a streak... that’s his new losing streak. And then I’m going to the Royal Rumble, and I’ll beat Kurt Angle to become the new ECW Champion... it’s only a matter of time until it happens. ------------------ Royal Rumble Qualifier Stevie Richards v Umaga The first in the Royal Rumble for an ECW superstar is up for grabs here as Umaga takes on Stevie Richards. The tone of the match is set early by the Samoan bulldozer, as when the bell rings he goes straight for Stevie with a clothesline. Stevie ducks and comes off the ropes, only to run into a shoulderblock, sending him crashing to the mat. Stevie gets back up, but a stiff right sends him back down, before Umaga grabs him and sends him hard to the corner... here he comes... but Stevie dodges him, seeing Umaga go chest first into the turnbuckle. Now Stevie goes to work, targeting the ribs with punches and kicks... until a shove from Umaga sends him flying across the ring. But Stevie is back up quickly, and he charges in... right into a Samoan drop! Umaga plants Stevie and that’s gotta be it... 1... 2... no! Richards get the shoulder up, but Umaga stays on the attack, raining down with right hands and then locking on the nerve hold. Umaga pressed down, applying pressure to Stevie’s neck... but eventually Stevie fights back to his feet... right hand to the gut... and another... and a third finally breaks the hold, and Stevie goes for an Irish whip... reversal... Stevie ducks a clothesline... and nails a jumping DDT! 1... 2... Umaga kicks out! Stevie now looks to build on this momentum, connecting with right hands before going for an Irish whip... leapfrog avoids Umaga... Stevie-kick... no! Umaga catches his foot and spine Stevie around... Samoan spike! Umaga nails Stevie and goes for the cover... 1... 2... 3. Umaga becomes the first member of the ECW roster to qualify for the Royal Rumble. Umaga beat Stevie Richards to qualify for the Royal Rumble (C+) -------------------- The camera then fades to the bowels of the building and the sight of Kane bathed in an eerie red glow, a maniacal smile across his face as he begins to speak... Kane: Haha! Hahahaha! Mick Foley... hahaha! Foley... you think you can stop me? You think you can lay down rules and regulations upon me? Hahaha! I don’t think so Foley! Last night... Armageddon... was the beginning of the end for ECW. Armageddon... was the first night of the flames rising over the land of extreme. Flames that will touch us all, leaving nobody who dares to stand in my way unaffected. Last night, Kurt Angle became my first victim... and there are more to follow. The flame burns bright within... and it’s going to burn this show to the ground! Hahahaha! Hahahaha! -------------------- John Morrison v Drew McIntyre There is a collection of people at ringside for this one, as Morrison’s fellow tag team champ Tommy Dreamer and his girl Kelly Kelly are in his corner, while McIntyre has partner Paul Burchill, manager William Regal and Katie Lea in his. Straight from the bell Morrison goes on the attack, driving McIntyre to the corner with right hands, but McIntyre ties-up, forcing the ref to call for a break... and McIntyre slaps Morrison across the face before pulling him into the corner and hitting right hands. The slap only angers Morrison though, and he fights his way out with a series of punches and then dropping him with a series of clotheslines. McIntyre rolls under the ropes to regroup, taking the ref’s count all the way to 9 before returning to the ring. Back in, McIntyre catches Morrison with a back elbow and then drops him with a clothesline, before locking on a reverse chinlock. It takes Morrison several attempts to get back to his feet, but when he does, McIntyre stays on him by driving the knee into the gut before sending Morrison off the ropes and nailing a dropkick for a 2 count. Again McIntyre shows his arrogance, slapping Morrison on the head... until Morrison nails him with a huge right from his knees! McIntyre flies across the ring, and now Morrison looks to take charge, sending McIntyre off the ropes... kick to the gut... Russian legsweep! Morrison stays on the attack... split-legged corkscrew moonsault! Morrison goes for the cover... but Katia Lea is on the apron! But here comes Kelly Kelly... catfight! The two girls go at it on the outside, and soon Dreamer and Burchill start brawling. In all the commotion, Regal slips a pair of brass knucks into McIntyre, and he puts them on and swings at Morrison... but Morrison ducks... step-up enziguiri! Morrison nails McIntyre, but now Regal is up on the apron... dropkick sends Regal flying! Here’s the cover... 1... 2... McIntyre gets the shoulder up! The cover took too long, but Morrison stays on attack, kicking McIntyre and coming off the ropes... but McIntyre is waiting with a clothesline... but Morrison ducks... and nails the moonlight drive! 1... 2... 3! John Morrison beat Drew McIntyre (B-) ----------------- Once again, Anastacia Rose is standing by... Rose: Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my guest at this time, he is the man who will face The Brian Kendrick for the right to go to the Royal Rumble to face Kurt Angle for the ECW Championship... Colt Cabana! And Colt, obviously you were pretty upset last night when Kurt Angle finally snapped your undefeated streak. Colt, can you put that behind you and earn another shot at Angle tonight? Cabana: Uh... well yeah, I was really disappointed that I lost my undefeated streak at Armageddon. You know, it was always my aim to ride my streak all the way to the ECW Championship. Sadly, it didn’t quite work out that way. But you know what? Losing last night has made me even more determined to start a new streak tonight. A new streak that sees me go to the Royal Rumble, face Kurt Angle one on one and beat him to become the new ECW Champion! My streak will start again tonight... and it all starts with you Kendrick. ------------------ Colt Cabana v The Brian Kendrick The number one contendership for the ECW Championship is up for grabs now, as Kendrick and Cabana square off. Of course, Kendrick has Danny Rodimer in his corner, and as the bell rings, Kendrick looks to jump Cabana from behind... only for Cabana to dodge him, seeing Kendrick run into the corner. Cabana now strikes with right hands, before sending Kendrick face first into the turnbuckle and then locking on a headlock. Kendrick sends Cabana off the ropes, but Cabana runs through him with a shoulderblock before hitting a legdrop for a near fall. Cabana looks to stay on the attack, sending Kendrick off the ropes and dropping his head fir a back-body-drop... but Kendrick aims a kick at Colt’s chest before coming off the ropes with a flying forearm. Cabana gets back up, but Kendrick is waiting, and he delivers a jumping kick to the back of the head, getting a 2 count. Kendrick now begins to target Cabana’s neck, driving his knee into and applying pressure. Back on their feet, Kendrick nails a jumping heel kick for another 2 count before returning to the neck, this time with a camel clutch. Kendrick wrenches back, but Cabana is eventually able to make it to the ropes, and the ref calls for the break. Kendrick now looks to press home his advantage, nailing a tornado DDT for another near fall before dragging Cabana to his feet and running him to the corner... sliced bread... no! Cabana blocks it, but Kendrick lands on his feet and charges the corner... Cabana makes him miss, and here’s a roll-up... 1... 2... Kendrick kicks out, but the momentum sends Cabana off the ropes... crossbody! 1... 2... Kendrick gets the shoulder up. Colt now has the momentum, and he looks to stay on the attack, slamming Kendrick to the mat and climbing to the top rope... legdrop connects! 1... 2... no! Kendrick gets the shoulder up again! Cabana now looks to finish things, dragging Kendrick up and going for the Colt. 45... but Kendrick struggles free, pushing Cabana off the ropes... both men hit clotheslines at the same time! Both men now lie motionless on the mat, and as the referee starts to count, a huge burst off pyro explodes... Styles: Oh! What the hell?! Tazz: It’s... it’s Kane! What the hell is he doing out here in the middle of this match? Styles: Well Kane earlier tonight was told by Mick Foley that because of his actions at Armageddon that he wouldn’t be receiving any title shots in the near future... Tazz: Yeah but what’s that got to do with him being out here now? Styles: I don’t know, I mean... Kane’s now in the ring and... he’s got Kendrick by the throat... and now he’s got Cabana... Tazz: Whoa, whoa, whoa... Styles: Double chokeslam! Kane just planted both Kendrick and Cabana! And the referee just called for the bell! Colt Cabana and The Brian Kendrick ended in a no contest (B+) Styles: What is the meaning of this? Tazz: I guess Kane is pissed at what Mick Foley said earlier. But this means we don’t have a number one contender! Styles: Well, we’re out of time folks, but join us next week as we hopefully will get to the bottom of all this. Goodnight! ------------------ Shelton Benjamin beat Mike Knox (C+) Umaga beat Stevie Richards to qualify for the Royal Rumble (C+) John Morrison beat Drew McIntyre (B-) Colt Cabana and The Brian Kendrick ended in a no contest (B+) Overall: B+
cool show I can't wait till the next PPV

the return of the deadman!
