Lone Star Wrestling (EffVerse)
What would you do if you were given the opportunity of a lifetime? You’d take it in a heartbeat right? What if it meant hurting someone you hold in high regard? That was my dilemma. My name is Dominic Mullally and I’ve worked with Lone Star Wrestling for almost 10 years. I was here before the promotion was sold to George Kemble and I’ve stayed on board ever since. I’ve seen “Cowboy” Bob Bryan be the owner, the booker, fire, and the booker again. Now I’m about to see him lose the book again, only this time it’s in my favor. Bob’s been a great mentor to me over these years and he really knows his stuff when it comes to wrestling. He and George just don’t see eye to eye on what the product should be. George wants to make money and garner mainstream attention. Bob on the other hand likes wrestling like it use to be, simple. The typical Old School vs. New School. Right now we’re doing a little of each, but things aren’t going so well. We’re losing attendance and money. George knows it’s Bob’s fault, but I think it’s just a product of the poor economy right now, which isn’t getting any better. Not to mention our industry is at a low point, but hopefully that won’t last. Maybe things would be better around here if it wasn’t for the rampant manipulation going on around here. Don’t even get me started on the favoritism. But now I’m off on a tangent. Where was I? Oh yeah, the job. George came up to me today and told me the job is mine if I want it. When I asked about Bob, George told me that he doesn’t know yet. George wants to gradually implement me into the position of head booker until Bob is completely phased out. I wasn’t sure which bothered me more, the way Bob was being treated or the fact that I would have to aid in his poor treatment if I were to take the job. George told me that effective immediately I would be able to address the roster, this means any hiring and firing or even contract talk. Of course he said I had to run ever firing by him first. It was all a bit overwhelming really. I felt horrible when I told George that I accepted. I was stabbing a friend in the back. So then, why did I do it? If it wasn’t me, it would just be someone else. Things are definitely about to get interesting…
EffVerse

Breakdown
Marlon Kemble is the perfect example of nepotism. He’s solid on the stick but abysmal in the ring. Bob knows this as well as anyone, but George all but demands that his kids be pushed regardless. This could prove to be a problem for me in the future. He’s a pretty selfish guy and always wants to work with people who make him look better. What an ass.

Poor Rico. Sure he gets to Main Event, but he’s more or less a laughing stock. He’s gay, and not that I have anything against that, but being openly gay in the South is a death wish. He gets pushed because he gets a reaction from the crowd whether they are laughing at him or booing him out of the building. Unfortunately his mic skills are about the only thing he’s got. He works hard though, he really does. Just don’t ask him to do anything outside of throwing a few punches.

Micah is the complete opposite of his brother Marlon. The guy can flat out wrestle and could probably earn a spot on any roster in the US. He really does have it all, the look, the ability, the charisma, it’s just unfortunate he suffers from the same affliction the rest of his family does. A big head. He’s good at getting what he wants and has every bit of leverage one could have in this company. - Current LSW Heavyweight Champion -

Thank God for people like Barton Stroble. He does it all the right way. A solid wrestler who knows how to put on a match. That’s what happens when your father is a LSW alum. He’s not got the entertainment abilities, but if stuck with the right manager this guy could be alright. Definitely the type of person I’d like to get into the Main Event scene and keep there. He’s three time LSW Champion, but with the people around here these days it’s hard for him to stay around the top.

This guy is going places, no questions asked. Solidhawk is a fine brawler with a good look and good entertainment value. He’s been an LSW Longhorn Champion on two occasions, but I’m telling you this guy could be the real deal. The politics have just kept him away from the big gold and he knows it. He’s just looking for a reason to quit the company right now, but it’s going to be my job to make sure he doesn’t. We need him.

The good ole Bryan Boys. Such a solid tag team and good work ethic, these kids are the backbone of LSW right now. Delmer is definitely the better pro wrestler out of the three. He’s got good technical skills and often has to carry his brother Delbert with his mic skills. Both of them have the ability to go places but lucky for me they are loyal to the company their dad built. I’m just afraid of how long that loyalty is going to last, knowing what I know. - Current LSW Tag Team Champions -

The only real stable in LSW right now, and it’s even more of a tag team. 7 (AKA Malachi) plays such a great creepy heel manager and definitely helps these guys out. Hellscourge isn’t a great wrestler but he’s a nice guy and has a good look. He definitely serves his purpose. He’ll try and weasel things in for himself though, so I’ll have to watch that. Vlad is an OK brawler, but he just doesn’t have “it”. It’s also become apparent that all he thinks he is a super star around here and is constantly trying to get into the title pictures. I don’t know who has been feeding him this crap. Believe me, LSW can live without Vlad Von Drack.

The Death Angels are your typical biker gimmicked brothers. Solid all around as far as I’m concerned. Not great by any means, but solid nonetheless. They work well with one another and are a nice anchor for our tag division.

Some of our fine recruits from across the border. On the surface these guys make the perfect tag team. You have one who is a great entertainer and one who is a good wrestler. Unfortunately their personalities seem to clash more often than not. I know, what brothers don’t clash right? Well it’s beyond that. Bribón is a nice professional guy and works hard for everything while Demonio tries to get as far as he can without having to do much.

Bishop is a solid brawler and decent on the mic. He can make his way up the ladder with some hard work and the right push. He’s willing to do whatever it takes to help the company succeed and he sometimes makes himself a door mat this way. - Current LSW Longhorn Champion -

These guys are mediocre at best. But that certainly isn't a bad thing around here. They are limited to brawling, but they still have the ability to move up the ladder in the tag team ranks. They just need to learn to bide their time and stop demanding pushes so often.
Is there anybody on your roster that isn't a tosser? Seriosuly, the politics here will be hellish to deal with. But I like that: a lot of the diaries on here don't have that, so it'll make this more interesting to read.
Today Bob was told that I’m officially in charge of personnel now. He seemed OK with the idea of it. He said he trusted my judgment. Dagger. We held a bookers meeting today to discuss our next show. I think we settled on Saturday, Week 2 of this month. Doesn’t give us much time. We didn’t get a chance to go over the details of whom or what would be taking place, guess we’ll have to do that tomorrow. After the meeting George called me into his office to talk about me taking over things. Good thing, I’ve been meaning to ask him some questions. Since I’m in charge of the roster now, I wanted to know my limitations. He didn’t seem to care really. Told me I could hire whomever I wanted for as much as I wanted. Well, just as long as I’m not losing him any money. He did say he’d prefer not to see any more “over the hill” guys brought in, no one in the mid 40’s. Fair enough. It was a nice little meeting all in all. Though he did tell me that if I wanted to see myself in the same job in 3 years that the company must continue to grow. No pressure, right? As soon as I left his office I got on the phone. There were a few people I had in mind to bring in, but they might be a bit pricey. Hopefully that would be too big of a problem.
EffVerse

I was a little surprised at how man egos, manipulators, and politicians there were in this particular game myself. Some of them are ones I purposely set up for the mod, but some of the others were just random and the lucky of the draw I suppose. It's going to be my luck I get this on top of no one on my roster having good chemistry.
thank you so much for the back ground! this is building up to be great.
Glad you liked it! I tried one other diary a long time ago but just couldn't get into it, so hopefully this one will last. Hopefully I'll have the advertisement for the first show up tomorrow maybe. It'll depend on my schedule as I'm heading into the last 2 weeks of college before finals right now.
So I saw that we’ve released the flyer for Warfare. I’m not sure about listing Leo Davis as a “legend”, but he has meant a lot of LSW. I’ll admit, he’s one of my recent acquisitions. He’s talked about retiring in the not so distant future and has stated that he’d like to do so with LSW. Bob was all for it, but he could never get George on board. I guess you can say I did this for both Leo and Bob. Looks like we have a solid card, very proud of our staff. Our system is a little haywire right now. We’ll have our meetings and Bob will go over what he wants to do. We’ll discuss it and address our best course of action. We then submit our ideas to George for approval. But with our present situation, he and I have a secret meeting where he asks me what to keep or dismiss. Trust me, it feels as dirty as it sounds. I don’t know how long any of us can keep this up, it’s going to be hard disguising things. Everyone seems happy with my signings, some of which are going to make an immediate presence as has been advertised. I think I may have also stumbled across a diamond in the rough. This young kid by the name of Victor Russell stops by the office looking for some kind of opportunity. I ask him what his training is and all of that stuff. Nothing. I’m thinking this kid is a waste of my time. There was something about him though, he had a little of “the look”. In a last ditch effort I asked for an impromptu promo. Oh-my-God. The kid is amazing on the stick. So natural. I think I have the perfect opportunity for him.
EffVerse
Things could have been worse I suppose. All in all the show probably didn't hurt us much, if at all. I'm certainly excited about the men I've brought into the promotion. Having The Big Problem on our roster might be enough to draw more fans soon. We'll just have to see. I decided to fire Clyde Tomlinson today and Bob wasn't pleased. I don't know what his problem was last night, but he made our matches and guys look bad and I can't have that. He was one of Bob's "guys". I appologized to Bob but told him how I felt on the situation. He mentioned something about loyalty. Maybe he knows the truth already. At any rate I'm in the process of finding us a new head referee, one that will hopefully prove beneficial. I've not seen the financial statements from last night yet, but I've got my fingers crossed that they are good. We were sold out so that is a huge plus, I even heard we had to turn people away. All good signs that I hope we can keep up. Maybe we'll be able to book larger venues in the near future.
EffVerse

Though if anyone has a suggestion as to what I could do or what other Diary writers do around here, I'm willing to listen. Hopefully I'll get better at booking this promotion and getting better grades. I think getting a new ref will go a long way. Hopefully I'll be able to do some nice storylines for you guys too. I'm hoping my past experience as a efed owner and efed wrestler will come in handy for all this stuff.

I later went to one show, but at the time I was doing two-three a month (running a two-promotion campaign).
Not forgotten about. Been busy with stuff for finals. Expect some updates soon though.
Take all the time you need, I'll take quality over quantity any day of the week. I offered to let people write magazine articles, and they stopped predicting, so I'm guessing you should steer away form anything resembling work. Either way a great read is reward enough, and i'm happy to share that prize with all takers!
Giving the reader actual booking decisions, means one of two things, you have to adapt your story to the curve the reader might throw, or it's a throw away match, and what satisfaction is there in that?
As it is right now, I do all my storylines unchained so that I can have all the freedom in the world. I think I'm going to include a match booking option for winners, but just the match and not the winner. I'll generally supply a list of superstars who are available for booking (hopefully) so that anything that I may have set in stone for the next event can't be tampered with.
I like this as well. So here is what I'm going to do. For now, the winner gets 3 options. Option 1 Book-A-Match: As described above. The prediction winner will get to book a regular 1 vs 1, 1 vs 1 vs 1, or Tag Team match with no gimmick. I'll still be picking the winner, but the prediction winner will put the match together. Obviously all non title matches. Option 2 Name-The-Event: You'll get to name the event. Serious offers only and it must fit with the promotion in some sort and not seem "outlandish". You can submit up to 3 and I will choose the one I think best. This option will only last 11-12 times, since after that the events will already be named in full. Option 3 Pick-The-Poison: With this option you'll be able to choose a gimmick from a supplied list for any one match on the card. Winner the prediction winner is announced I'll send them an email and they can respond with their choice. I'll then respond with the according information. With that, you may send me a pm mistaken informing me of your choice if you'd like to.
Word sure travels fast. Remember how I said I fired Clyde for his lackluster wrestling ability? Well Bob came to me a few days later, Clyde in tow, and asked me to give him another chance. I calmly explained the situation and Bob asked me to listen to him speak. He's actually pretty good and might make a decent manager. I told Bob I would think about it and that we have a lot of managerial talent on the roster already. Fast forward a week or so. I've now receieved phone calls from Steve Flash on behalf of NYCW and Mean Jean Cattley on behalf of MAW. Both interested in speaking with Clyde. The guy went from being unemployed to getting offers from bigger promotions. I'm surprised to say the least. We're going to be trying out a new ref in a few weeks at Highway to Hell. Hope he works out well for us. Speaking of things working out well; I finally got our financial statements in. We made $2,837 in total for Warfare. We couldn't be happier with that number, as it's been a while since we turned a profit. This definitely bodes well for me. We've begun work on our next show, the aforementioned Highway to Hell, for the second Saturday in February. I look for us to have our advertisements up real soon. Hopefully we'll continue to prosper financially with this show and put on a much better all around show than we did last time.
LSW Highway to Hell The Quakers vs. The Death Angels Cal Sanders vs. Alan Parent LSW Longhorn Championship Barton Stroble vs. Bishop Rage (c) Harry Wilson vs. Hellscourge w/ 7 LSW Heavyweight Championship Murderous Mikey vs. Micah Kemble (c) Plus and open challenge from The Big Problem to anyone in attendance! (The Big Problem w/ Victor Russell vs. ???) *Feel free to predict. The Quakers vs. The Death Angels I want to see an old school barn raising here, and then have em tear it down! Cal Sanders vs. Alan Parent just seems more country LSW Longhorn Championship Barton Stroble vs. Bishop Rage (c) he needs the win to justify his reign Harry Wilson vs. Hellscourge w/ 7 LSW Heavyweight Championship Murderous Mikey vs. Micah Kemble (c) hmm, still see micah coming out the champ. Plus and open challenge from The Big Problem to anyone in attendance! (The Big Problem w/ Victor Russell vs. ???) I see some one giving big a run for his money, but your still building to a super star heel to take down micah, so he's got to win here.
