linger
It would be really great if a basic 2D play-by-play is available to the user, similar to what's available in http://goallineblitz.com/ That adds a ton to the game, by being able to view speed, cutting ability, etc, and other aspects of individual players. Also, it makes viewing a game even more interesting. Here's a sample screenshot to give you an idea: Without getting to much into details, I can see a simple, effective system being implemented without an exorbitant amount of programming going in. For example, for o-lineman: just an equation factoring in relevant skills like hands, vision, strength, etc defining at each game 'clock cycle' if they are able to hold their defender or not. Or the opposite for a d-lineman, concerning if they are able to break free from their o-lineman at any instant. Similarly for other positions. And the art assets would be pretty reasonable I think for a one-man job (circles with letters denoting position). I know there are other features going into the backend of the game also, but I think an animated play-by-play would do wonders.
Cooleyvol
That'd be ok for a later version, but is a lofty goal for a first gen game that would eat up coding resources best spent elsewhere.
Arlie Rahn
I agree that's where I would like to be. But, for the first version, it won't be true 2D. It will be built upon the BBCF model, but a little better.
linger
That's understandable. I also appreciate your honesty on this matter and the other matter I pm'd you about.
