UFC 84 Undercard Eddie Sanchez vs. Jake O'Brien ...
UFC 84 ~Vengance~ Undercard Eddie Sanchez Vs. Jake O'Brien . Round 1 The fighters touch gloves, then circle. Sanchez throws a low kick, but it was without any conviction, it seemed designed more to keep O'Brien from coming inside. Sanchez works an angle, then comes in with a one-two combination, O'Brien responds with a crisp uppercut that wasn't far off from connecting. Sanchez backs off slightly, maybe a bit relieved not to have taken that one on the chin. Neither fighter appears to be looking for any sort of takedown or grapple, this is all about the striking. O'Brien circles and throws a series of high jabs, but Sanchez blocked them with ease, using the gloves. Sanchez fakes a high kick, then storms in with a wild looking right hand and a series of body shots. O'Brien covers up and rides out the storm, clinching to stop any further blows. It was a nice attack from Sanchez though, best action of the round. They stay clinched for a while, exchanging occasional punches to the ribs, then are separated by the referee. It looks like this round is going to the judges though, as there's only a few seconds remaining. Sanchez throws a leg kick that connects, albeit without too much force, and the round is done. The first round is over. Sherdog.com has it down as 10-9 Sanchez. Round 2 The round begins, and it is Sanchez who starts better, energetically bounding straight into action by throwing a three-punch combination and a scything leg kick. O'Brien defended all four blows well, but is forced to be on the backfoot right from the word go. Sanchez works for an angle, coming in from the left hand side with a high right hand. O'Brien ducks under it and nestles a stiff jab in the solar plexus. It doesn't seem to slow Sanchez down much though, as he swiftly turns and hits a crisp left to the side of the head, followed almost instantly by a mid-level kick that smacks above the hip of O'Brien. Interesting first minute of action, Sanchez is looking particularly sharp. O'Brien tries to turn the momentum by advancing quickly and driving Sanchez back against the cage with a series of jabs and hooks, and they end up clinched. O'Brien tries a knee from that position, but it is blocked. Sanchez scores with two sharp blows to the ribs, and then they break away from each other. Other than a few half-hearted jabs, there's been a definite lull over the past minute. They square up to each other in the center. Sanchez throws a head fake and comes in from low down to hit a rising shot that catches O'Brien on the side of the head. O'Brien got a shot in too though, although it hit the shoulder rather than the head. Time is running down; Sanchez has probably done enough to win the round, but it has turned quite scrappy since the clinch against the cage, both will probably be slightly unhappy with that. O'Brien tries a late surge, coming in hard and fast with a leading left, but Sanchez defends it well and scores the only meaningful shot of the exchange with a crisp left hand. End of round 2. Sherdog.com has it down as 10-9 Sanchez Round 3 Right hand from O'Brien was thrown with power, but bounced off the gloves of Sanchez. O'Brien follows up by coming in close, but Sanchez is ready with a straight right hand that glances off the side of the head. Sanchez fakes a right hand, then puts O'Brien on the ground with a hard takedown. Sanchez tries to use the momentum to get a punch in, but O'Brien cleverly uses that to his advantage and turns it so that he ends up in the guard of Sanchez. A few tentative punches from O'Brien do no damage, and neither does a big left hand from Sanchez that merely grazed the shoulder. O'Brien fires off two jabs, then swings wildly with a huge clubbing right hand. Sanchez didn't expect it, and got caught! It had a lot of power, and has knocked Sanchez out. O'Brien instinctively gets another shot in before the referee comes to the rescue and pulls him off. Big knock out victory for O'Brien. O'Brien wins via knock out at 1:53 of the third round. **************************************************************************************************** UFC 84 ~Vengance~ Undercard Din Thomas Vs. Thomas hits a low kick to back Fisher against the cage, then works the body with a series of short punches. Fisher fights out and the action returns to the center. Fisher steps back, and Thomas comes after him , sensing an opening. Fisher suddenly puts the brakes on and swings for the fences, driving a right hand to the chin. Thomas couldn't get out of the way in time and takes it full force. He goes down like a puppet with his strings cut, he is out cold. Fisher goes to follow up to be sure, but the referee cuts him off, calling a halt to the match. Spencer Fisher Via KO Official time of the knock out is 2:16 of the first. **************************************************************************************************** UFC 84 ~Vengance~ Undercard Rameau Sokoudjou Vs. Ricardo Arona . Round 1 Sokoudjou starts brightly by throwing some looping punches. Defended well by Arona. They circle, throwing tentative jabs. Arona goes for a single leg and puts Sokoudjou on the floor, but he is up very quickly, preventing Arona from getting on top. Sokoudjou definitely seems to want to keep this standing. Arona hits a nice jab, avoids a counter left hook, then comes in low and takes down Sokoudjou again. This time Sokoudjou isn't able to get up, and has to pull guard. Times ticking away though, Arona will have to hurry to finish. He goes for an armbar, but Sokoudjou defends. Arona tries to slip past to get side control, but Sokoudjou just about manages to keep guard. A second attempt works though, and Arona has the side. Two big elbows land, and Sokoudjou seems in trouble. Arona goes for the kimura, but can't quite get it. The time expires before he can try again, and the referee separates them. End of the round. Sherdog.com scores 10-9 Arona. Round 2 Arona starts the round by throwing some low kicks. Sokoudjou checks them, then comes in and clearly wants to trade punches. Arona doesn't seem too bothered by that, and they enter into the first exchange of punches of the round. Difficult to say who came out on top, neither of them did a great deal of damage, most of the shots hit the opponent's gloves. Arona cleverly head-fakes, allowing him the time and angle that he needed to catch Sokoudjou with a beauty of a right hook. Sokoudjou stumbles backward, but doesn't go down. Arona presses the advantage by following in with a kick, then a right hand. Sokoudjou clinches. They remain clinched for a while. Sokoudjou scores with a nice knee, it appeared to catch Arona in the gut. Arona uses a single leg trip and takes the fight to the ground. Arona gets to side control upon impact, and immediately goes for an armbar. Sokoudjou reacts quickly, but is in real danger. Arona has his left arm straightened out, fortunately Sokoudjou has managed to roll and get a good position that is stopping Arona from getting the leverage needed to apply an armlock. Arona tries to step over and fully apply it, but Sokoudjou breaks free and gets him to back off with a couple of up-kicks. Arona steps back and motions for him to stand up. They go back to circling in the center. Sokoudjou hits a nice right hand, but takes one back too. The time runs down; Arona will probably get that round on points, he hit the best punch of the round, and got the only takedown, plus was the one who was working toward a submission. End of the round. Sherdog.com sees it 10-9 to Arona. Round 3 Sokoudjou clinches. They go down in an awkward moment, not sure what was going on then. Sokoudjou is in the guard of Arona. He moves into a side mount, and Arona didn't do much to stop it. Sokoudjou brings down a hard shot, but it deflects of the forearms of Arona. Sokoudjou looks for a kimura, but Arona shifts his weight and sweeps Sokoudjou. Arona now has a half mount. Sokoudjou tries a sweep of his own, but Arona blocks it, and then gets into a full mount. Arona takes one arm, fights off a big effort by Sokoudjou to block it, and cinches in a armbar. Sokoudjou tries to get free, but is stuck, and is forced to tap out. Ricardo Aron Via Armbar Submission Official time of the armbar submission is 0:48 of the third. **************************************************************************************************** UFC 84 ~Vengance~ Main Card Josh Koscheck Vs. Jabs and an occasional low kick from Gono are making that hard though. A crisp right hand from Koscheck stings the gloves of Gono, and he follows up with a kick that crashed into the ribs. That really connected, great strike. Koscheck looks to be growing in confidence, and comes in again, using the right hand lead once more. Gono was ready though, and fires off a high kick. It connects with the side of the jaw, Koscheck did not see that one coming! He staggers and falls to the floor, totally unbalanced. Gono is right in there; hammer fist to the side of the head, and another! There's a third. Koscheck is in big trouble. Vicious punch. The referee leaps in, that is all she wrote! That kick caught Koscheck out, and from there onwards there was only going to be one outcome. Official time of the TKO is 1:38 of the first round. Akihiro Gono Via TKO Official time of the TKO is 1:38 of the first round. **************************************************************************************************** UFC 84 ~Vengance~ Main Card Thiago Alves Vs. Davis circles, steps in, then unloads a combination of punches, but Alves weaves out of the way and scores with a beauty of a right hand, glancing above the right eye. That was some lovely counter punching from Alves, the timing had to be perfect and it was. Davis is looking a bit frustrated, and uncorks a ragged-looking uppercut that missed by several inches. Alves really should have taken advantage of that mistake, Davis was wide open for a moment there. Alves hits a high kick, catching Davis on the shoulder. Jab from Davis finds the mark, but it didn't have much power behind it as he was leaning backward too much. Alves fires off a couple of straight punches in response, but only finds gloves. They clinch, and the fight enters a lull. Davis scores with a knee from the clinch, it landed around the hip area of Alves, who responds with a couple of shots to the ribs. The time runs out with them still clinched though. End of the round. Sherdog.com scores it 10-9 for Alves. Round 2 Alves starts fast, coming out almost immediately with a three punch combination. None of them get through, and Davis manages to squeeze a jab of his own through and score just above the left cheek. They exchange a flurry of blows right in the center, it's difficult to see who got the best of it, and both of them retreat a few steps to recover. Good start to the round, early indications are that this is going to be all about the striking, neither fighter has even hinted at going for a takedown. Davis uses a low kick to set up a nice right hand, and Alves is forced back against the cage. Davis picks his shots and gets a big punch to the body in. Alves uses a couple of looping punches to make Davis keep back, but it doesn't last for long, as Davis bursts forward and hits two big right hands, taking a counter punch to the body though, and they wind up in a clinch. They exchange weak-looking blows from that position, before the referee grows tired of the inactivity and breaks them apart. Alves scores with a low kick. Alves tries to back Davis up against the cage wall, but it comes to nothing. Davis unwinds a right hook that narrowly misses. That will be the last action of the round though. The round is over. Sherdog.com sees it 10-9 to Davis. Round 3 Tentative start to the round, the fighters are circling. Davis throws out a couple of range-finding jabs, but they aren't anything that will trouble Alves. Kick to the thigh from Alves, but it lacked power. An exchange of punches goes nowhere, and they fall into a clinch. The referee separates them when nothing happens. Alves makes Davis back up against the cage by throwing some looping punches. He comes in closer and hits a right hook to the body, getting a jab to the cheek in return. Alves throws another two punches, both to the body, then steps back to avoid an uppercut. Davis lets fly with a scorching punch though, and it catches Alves by surprise, putting him down! Davis follows up and starts raining down right hands. Alves covers up as best he can, but it's not enough as the referee pulls Davis off, the match is over. Marcus Davis via TKO Official time of the TKO is 1:24 of the third round. Diaz checks them, then comes in and clearly wants to trade punches. Lauzon doesn't seem too bothered by that, and they enter into the first exchange of punches of the round. Difficult to say who came out on top, neither of them did a great deal of damage, most of the shots hit the opponent's gloves. Lauzon cleverly head-fakes, allowing him the time and angle that he needed to catch Diaz with a beauty of a right hook. Diaz stumbles backward, but doesn't go down. Lauzon presses the advantage by following in with a kick, then a right hand. Diaz clinches. They remain clinched for a while. Diaz scores with a nice knee, it appeared to catch Lauzon in the gut. Lauzon uses a single leg trip and takes the fight to the ground. Lauzon gets to side control upon impact, and immediately goes for an armbar. Diaz reacts quickly, but is in real danger. Lauzon has his left arm straightened out, fortunately Diaz has managed to roll and get a good position that is stopping Lauzon from getting the leverage needed to apply an armlock. Lauzon tries to step over and fully apply it, but Diaz breaks free and gets him to back off with a couple of up-kicks. Lauzon steps back and motions for him to stand up. They go back to circling in the center. Diaz hits a nice right hand, but takes one back too. The time runs down; Lauzon will probably get that round on points, he hit the best punch of the round, and got the only takedown, plus was the one who was working toward a submission. End of the round. Sherdog.com scores 10-9 Lauzon. Round 2 The two fighters circle. Diaz flicks out a couple of jabs, then an unconventinal looping right hand. Lauzon easily side-steps it, but trips and falls to the ground! He is up quickly, before Diaz could get in. Replays confirm that it was purely a stumble, the punch was well wide of the mark. Lauzon moves in, ducks under a big right hand, and gets two crisp jabs in before getting smothered into a clinch. One of those jabs landed hard, Diaz is a little rattled. They struggle in the clinch, both throwing small punches to the back and ribs. The referee separates them. Diaz forces Lauzon back up against the cage, and starts throwing jabs. He looks to be keeping Lauzon in position, waiting to unload a big punch. Diaz does, lunging in with a huge right cross, but Lauzon saw it coming and goes underneath it, scoring with a right hand to the gut on the way past. Diaz turns and tries to follow up immediately, but gets tagged with a wicked left hook that drops him to one knee. Diaz is up quickly, causing Lauzon, who was about to dive in, to back off. Replays show that the punch connected, but Diaz was already going downward to duck the punch, so it wasn't as powerful as first thought. Diaz throws a high kick, but it doesn't do anything but cause Lauzon to step back. The time expires without anything further of note happening. The second round is over. Sherdog.com gives that one to Lauzon by 10-9. Round 3 Exchange of punches to start, nothing really hit though. They go into a clinch, and the pace disappears as both fighters try and get the advantage. Eventually the referee separates them. Jab from Lauzon, who then has to react quickly to avoid a right hook that was aimed right at the chin. Lauzon puts on a burst of energy and fires off a big sequence of punches, maybe twelve or thirteen in a row, although not many actually connected. Diaz covered up well, and gets in a couple of shots of his own before moving out of range again. Lauzon looks to be working an angle. Low kick from Diaz, almost to the groin, although it didn't look intentional. They come together in a clinch again, and it returns to a stalemate. Not a great round by anyone's standard, but that flurry should mean that Lauzon will take the round on points. End of round 3. Sherdog.com has it down as 10-9 Lauzon. Joe Lauzon via Majority Decision The official scores are in; two judges give 30-27, the other 29-28, all for Joe Lauzon. They clinch, but only for a few seconds before it gets broken. Both throw stiff jabs at the same time, neither connects properly. Back to the clinch. It has been a disjointed start to the round, the flow hasn't quite developed properly. Ortiz uses a knee to the ribs before backing Machida up against the cage. Right hand from Machida connects though, that was well timed. Ortiz breaks the clinch and backs off. That was sloppy on his part, Machida was basically gifted a free shot. Three quick jabs from Ortiz sting the gloves, then a crashing hook to the body finds its mark. Good recovery. Machida fires off a low kick again, but it's well wide. Machida circles Ortiz, looking for a good angle, peppering him with flicked jabs off the right hand. Ortiz bats them away easily, and seems to be trying to lure the lunge. Machida head fakes, then comes in fast, leading with the right. Ortiz counters with a left hand that hits the cheek, then a right uppercut that narrowly misses, that would have been a knock out blow. Machida gets in nothing more than a single jab in response, and is forced to retreat. That definitely didn't go to plan, Ortiz came out on top. Machida looks frustrated. Ortiz steps in and throws out a looping right, Machida responds by firing off a huge kick to the front leg. Ortiz goes down! He was badly over-reaching with that punch, and his balance was thrown enough that the kick was able to send him sprawling to the floor. Machida reacts quickly and hits a solid right hand to the mouth before mounting Ortiz. Right hand! Right Hand! Ortiz is covering up, but three shots have already connected solidly. Another punch gets through the guard, and this time is right on the chin! The referee looks about ready to jump in. A fourth right hand hits, this time above the eye. Ortiz is getting massacred. Yes, that's enough, the ref pulls Machida off, it's a TKO victory. Ortiz looks dazed on the canvas as his corner come in to help him. Sylvia throws two short jabs, then a long-range looping right hand. Mir had to be on his toes to get out of the way, and does. Sylvia goes to follow up, and narrowly avoids walking right into a right cross. He bobs underneath it, then comes in fast with a right hand. Mir parries it with his gloves, then shoots in and scores with a nice takedown. Sylvia tries to sprawl, but was too late and can only pull guard as he crash-lands to the ground. Mir stands into a half-crouching position, dragging Sylvia's guard with him. Sylvia reaches up, parries away a couple of strikes, and tries to grab an arm to apply an armbar to. Mir knocks the attempt away and nails a hard shot to the ribs before reaching over and trying to nail a downward punch to the chin. Sylvia blocks it. Mir floats over and gets into side control. Sylvia scrambles to try and get back up, but is too close to the cage, which works against him. Mir lays in a couple of punches to the chest to soften Sylvia up, then tries to move up and isolate one of the arms. Sylvia makes sure to bring his body around to give him as much protection as possible. It works, as Mir can't get either arm isolated properly. Mir changes tactics and tries to get into crucifix position. Sylvia fights it for as long as he possibly can, but eventually gets caught. The length of struggle is, in itself, a good defence though, as the round ends before Mir can do anything with the position he has achieved, which will frustrate him enormously. End of round 1. Sherdog.com sees it 10-9 to Mir. Round 2 Quick start to the round from Sylvia, he comes storming in with a flurry of jabs. Mir defends it well, parrying them away. Nice straight right from Mir connects. Sylvia gets in close and hits a pair of nice body shots, then they clinch up. Sylvia pushes Mir back against the cage and goes for a trip, but Mir blocks it. Mir suddenly pushes forward off the cage and uses the momentum to take Sylvia down to the ground, into guard. Mir stands into a half-crouching position, dragging Sylvia's guard with him. Sylvia reaches up, parries away a couple of strikes, and tries to grab an arm to apply an armbar to. Sherdog.com scores it 10-9 for Mir. Round 3 Good start from Mir, taking Sylvia down almost immediately! Sylvia scrambles though, and gets back to his feet without taking any damage at all. Mir will be disappointed with that. Sylvia comes in and throws two big right hands, but neither connects, and they put him off balance, allowing Mir to score with a nice right hook to the side of the head, crunching into the top of the ear. Sylvia felt that one for sure. He stalks Mir, trying to back him up against the cage. It doesn't work though, Mir keeps out of the way. Sylvia tries a kick, but Mir catches the foot and uses it for a trip. Mir gets Sylvia down for the second time, and this time is right on top of him in guard position. Mir throws some punches, then tries to pass. Sylvia doesn't allow it, and tries to grab an armbar in response. Mir easily stops that, and throws some more punches. That becomes the pattern, as the fight falls into a predictable pattern; punches from Mir followed by a pass attempt, with Sylvia blocking the pass and throwing the occasional punch in response. The round ends like that, just as the referee was about to stand them back up. That's the end of the round. Sherdog.com gives that one to Mir by 10-9. Fitch throws out a looping right hand, setting up a mid-level kick. The punch found gloves, the kick found nothing but thin air as Parisyan had stepped back in time. They meet in the center, exchanging a series of blows, and Fitch gets the better of it, scoring with a crisp jab that causes Parisyan to back up quickly. Sensing a chance, Fitch follows and forces him up against the cage with some jabs. Parisyan covers up, as two hard strikes find the gloves from Fitch. A right hand misses, and that is the chance Parisyan needs to quickly get out of trouble and back to the center. Great start to the round from Fitch. Fitch hits two jabs, then a high kick. It glances off Parisyan's shoulder, catching him on the top of the head. He stumbles backward, ending up against the cage. Fitch charges in and starts unloading, and after several crunching punches have landed the referee has no choice but to jump in and bring the match to the end. Henderson covered up well, but at least one of the jabs got through and landed above the left eye. Henderson backs up to buy some time, but Okami keeps coming and lands a right hand to the body. Henderson scores with a jab in return, then goes with a kick to the waist. Okami catches the leg though and quickly rushes forward with a takedown. Henderson pulls guard. Okami throws out a right hand, parried away by Henderson. The guard is quite tight, for the moment at least Okami looks content to stay there and throw some punches. Henderson isn't offering any sort of attacking threat yet, instead concentrating on keeping the strikes from landing. A big punch is driven into the ribs, Henderson thought it was going for the face. Another punch lands in the same place, and a red mark starts to develop. Henderson reaches up and pulls Okami down into a clinch, and tries to work an armbar from the bottom. Okami defends it easily, and gets in a sharp jab to the face too. He stands up slightly, leaning forward into the guard, and starts throwing some right hands. One gets through, the others are parried. Henderson looked like he might be considering trying to apply a triangle then, as Okami was very exposed, but he didn't get a chance due to the ferocity of the punches. Okami gets back down to kneeling in the guard. Another right hand lands to the ribs. Henderson fires off two punches from his back, but Okami defends them easily by simply leaning backward out of reach. Okami stands again, the guard remaining tight around him, and throws another couple of bombs. This time Henderson does try to apply the triangle, and an armbar at the same time, but Okami breaks free. Time is ticking down, looks like Henderson will survive this ground and pound attack. The round ends without further note. That's the end of the round. Sherdog.com sees it 10-9 to Okami. Round 2 They start the round with an exchange of strikes, all from fairly long range as they circle and try to work angles. None of the blows did any damage, either missing or being straight into the opponent's gloves. Henderson is the first to land a worthwhile blow, hitting a straight right that catches Okami on the side of the cheek. Henderson follows up by backing him up against the cage, throws a couple of big punches, but gets pulled into a clinch without doing any serious damage. Okami goes for a trip and almost gets it, but Henderson is able to regain his footing at the last moment. Okami has Henderson against the cage, and hits three right hands to the side of the ribs. Henderson reaches down and picks up a leg, using that as leverage to topple Okami, who pulls guard. Henderson starts pounding away and does some damage before Okami grapples and pulls him down into a clinch. Okami has both of Henderson's arms tied up, preventing much in the way of attacking action. Henderson uses some shoulder shrugs to the face, but Okami isn't going to be too bothered by that. Henderson pulls one arm free. Okami still has tight control of the other, and brings his legs up, trying to apply an armbar. Henderson sees it coming and blocks it easily, getting in a couple of punches for good measure. Henderson steps through the legs and forces Okami to release the arm so that he can cover up against a series of strikes. Okami manages to ensare one leg though, and so Henderson has to make do with being in half guard instead of getting the full mount that he wanted. Henderson hits a couple of punches, takes one back, then attempts to get side control. Okami keeps him at bay. Time is ticking away, if Henderson is going to use this position to finish the match, it had better be done soon. Henderson pulls Okami's left arm to one side and straightens it out, perhaps looking to turn it into an armbar. Okami rolls over to stop the arm getting trapped. Henderson continues to work for it though. Time expires though, the round is over. The round ends. Sherdog.com scores it 10-9 for Henderson. Round 3 Henderson is the first to score a meaningful blow, tagging Okami with a jab to the cheek. Okami uses a nice straight left to return fire. Henderson comes in to work the body, but Okami saw it coming and uses a quick takedown to put Henderson onto the floor, falling into guard. Henderson has the guard held very high. Okami throws a big right hand, but almost puts himself right into a triangle as a result, and he is forced to fight free. Henderson throws a punch and it lands right above the nose. Okami throws four massive punches as a response, threatening to try and knock Henderson right through the canvas, Henderson is forced to simply cover up and try to survive. Okami is controlling the round from this position, although it has to be said that he hasn't yet truly looked like he can stop the match from here. Henderson moves to butterfly guard and then tries to scramble back up, but Okami stops that by throwing another set of big punches, forcing Henderson to go back to the full guard. The round ends with them still like that, with Okami having totally controlled the round from the guard. That's the end of the round. Sherdog.com sees it 10-9 to Okami. Looks like a statement of intent, Sherk is going to try and out-wrestle Penn. Sherk works for position, and tries to get in a hard shot to the face, Penn turned out of it and got free though, no damage done. Sherk comes in again, looking for the grapple, but gets sent back with a succession of three crisp jabs and a speculative high kick. Sherk throws a right hand, narrowly missing. Penn almost seems to be inviting him on to throw punches, he could be trying to lure him into over-committing. Sherk throws a jab that connects, albeit without much power, but it causes Penn to back up quickly, back toward the cage. Sherk comes in quickly, throwing looping punches, but gets reckless and Penn grabs the opportunity by nailing a big right cross! Sherk collapses in a heap, his left leg buckling underneath him in at an awkward angle. Penn has knocked him out cold with a killer punch. Couture puts together the first exciting moment, stringing together four punches in quick succession, but Nogueira defended well. Straight right from Nogueira in response, but it caught nothing but gloves. They start circling. The referee tells them to fight, the lack of action so far is worrying. They get in close and exchange body shots, Couture probably getting the slightly better punches in, and then fall into a clinch. That goes nowhere, and the referee separates them. Nogueira gets a nice kick in just before the time expires, but it's unlikely that is going to stop the judges giving that round to Couture. The 1st round ends. Sherdog.com scores it 10-9 for Couture. Round 2 An exchange of jabs doesn't go anywhere. Nogueira fakes a kick, then darts in to score with a straight left before backing out fast to avoid a left-right combination from Couture. They clinch, and Couture winds up backed against the cage. A couple of minor blows get exchanged, but it's turned into a bit of a stalemate. Nogueira tries to push Couture back, but can't. The referee waits a while, then separates them and gets them to resume. Nogueira comes inside Couture and hits a body shot, then a right cross. Couture swings with a right hand to counter, but Nogueira ducks it and comes back with a big punch of his own. Couture goes down like a ton of bricks, that punch was right on the money. Nogueira moves in quickly to deliver another two punches before the referee pulls him away. They weren't necessary, Couture was out cold, but Nogueira wasn't doing anything wrong there, he was merely instinctively following up. That was a deadly accurate punch, Nogueira hit that as sweetly as is possible. Nogueira wins via knock out at 3:41 of the second round. Nate Diaz FAN: This Sucks , im a Nate Diaz fan and have a slight dislike for Joe Lauzon even though i think hes No Joke just think i threw Nate to the wolfs on this one, i was hoping he was ready to Take out Lauzon but Damn  Promoter: Well Lauzon moves on and maybe he can put up a better fight for the title when he faces BJ in the future for a Part II problem is that title doesn't leave BJ's hands until BJ wants to let it go , hes that damn good. Over All Rank: C Lyoto Machida Vs. Tito Ortiz FAN: First things first ... *BLEEP* Yeah ! im quickly becoming a Machida fan. The guy is just scary , hes one of those guys if you see on the street you think i can kick his ass, but Machida is a Beast! Onto Tito ~ Sorry man i grew up a fan of yours for the years, but when its over its over , it was good while it lasted but Stick a Fork in Tito he is Done. Promoter: Great News for the fight game , Tito Refused a Contract to resign with the UFC so in his last fight we sent his ass out on a stretcher. Over All Rank: A Frank Mir Vs. Tim Sylvia FAN: Are you kidding me ? damn i dont like Mir at all . i can acknowledge hes a damn fine fighter who still has some left in the tank. BIG Tim Sylvia can not beat a BJJ guy to save his life his Achilles hill as a fighter. Promoter: This match didnt turn out well in my oppion , we have Mir whom is limited in his Name value and i dont think can bust into the top 4 Heavyweights in the UFC who just decisioned a Potential Top 4 Heavyweight in the UFC. All and all just bad, i did resign Tim Sylvia so i was hopping he could just get past Mir any way possible to silence his one Majorly Disappointing Loss when Mir broke his arm in there first match. Now i gota figure out a way to get Big Tim Sylvia back into the winning column without throwing him a jobber and without being soft on his bookings. Over All Rank: C Jon Fitch Vs. Karo Parisyan FAN: Hell Yeah Fitch punked out Karo and im lovin it , i just cant stand this out of shape , attitude wielding , drama starting punk (Karo Parisyan). Not to mention Fitch is a battle tested , juggernaut the dude has not lost a fight in like 6 years Now he will get what he most wants and thats a shot at the title , the bad news he has to face one bad ass MOFO in Georges "Rush" St. Pierre Promoter: Again another Hugh Win for the UFC we get to now have a Fight with GSP and Fitch for the Welterweight Title , No more questions to be asked, it will hands down be the biggest fight to grace the Welterweight Division since GSP Vs. Hughes I & II, BJ Vs. GSP , BJ Vs. Hughes I & II This Turned out exactly how i wanted, with a better finish than i could have asked for. Over All Rank: A++ Yushin Okami Vs. Dan Henderson FAN: WTF! is the world coming to ? Hendo gets beat by somebody whom he should beat in his sleep , c'mon were talken about Hendo one of the All Time Greats of MMA losing for the second time in a row and to Okami . Not trying to steal the thunder from Okami's win but DISAPPOINTING !! Promoter: Grrr . This doesn't sit well with Promotions this is not what was supposed to happen in a million years. Dan Henderson needs some Victories in a bad bad way , and than and only than i need to work on getting his ass back in the top 3 or 4 of a division... Not sure if the game will let me force him back to Light Heavyweight but he needs to go back there, i do think Hendo is the only person fighting that can beat The Spider but i think he would / can OWN the LHW division much easier than the Middleweights not to mention my favorite fighter in that division Rich Franklin cant beat Hendo (IMHO) and franklin will get one Last shot at The Spider eventualy not just yet, id like to get Rich with 3 to 5 wins consecutively first before they face off for the 3rd time. Back to Hendo if i cant force him back to the LHW division ill just have to live with a Stacked Middleweight divsion (by Number of Fighters in the division) Over All Rank: D- BJ Penn Vs. Sean Sherk FAN: They don't call him "The Prodigy" for nothing man , he is so dominate im not sure Sherk can beat him when they face off again, Lauzon doesn't stand a chance , we will see if Huerta can take on BJ but i wont bet against BJ Promoter: This is what you want in a Champion Total Dominance of a Division and yet is exactly what you fear happening ~ Why ? because now what ? who can beat BJ ? who can beat The Spider ? those are the 2 division that are Firmly in the Grasp of there Champion with no bright bouts that might go either way. Over All Rank: A Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira Vs. Randy Couture FAN: Well this sucks as a fan , not in the way your thinking. Im not a huge couture fan but i did want Randy to win this one. Big Nog is and was just to much , Randy didn't have the advantage standing, didn't have the advantage on the ground , and regardless of how the game dogged Randy's clinch skills i personally think Randy is one of the games best Dirty Boxers and one of the Two areas i think Randy clearly has the Advantage over Big Nog . One being Dirty Boxing , Two being Cardio only 2 people in MMA have this kind of Gas Tank , One being Randy , the other being Matt Hughes. Promoter: First off Big Nog can be promoted so regardless of wishes all will be ok . Now lets get to the TRUE issue at hand. Randy is 43 and every time ive played out one of these Dynasty's Randy hits me with one of these You have 1 Month or until my Next Fight than im Retiring and that just sucks as i wanted Randy to win the title (or Keep it depending on how you look at it) than have Fedor Vs. Couture and than hopefully get in a Fedor Vs. Couture II I hoped for those to both be Title fights but now Nog is still the Champ meaning i have no choice in setting up Fedor Vs. Couture ASAP before Randy Retires and than worry about Feeding Nog to the Cyborg for Nog Vs. Fedor IV yeah thats right this will be the 4th time they will have fought in there Career and lets just say The Cyborg hasn't Lost yet to Big Nog. Over All Rank: A if Randy would have won id have given it a A++
Nice read so far...I am interested in who did this universe and how under strengths and weakness' Randy Couture has a knock against his clinch, that is so far off its ridiculous, thats one Coutures main weapons.
The Data Base is the one found in the Mod Thread , im using Modern Warriors 1.3 i believe . and yeah i have to agree 100% Couture is known for his Dirty Boxing.
