The Rise Of Gamma

Recommended Posts

Backstory June 1996 Following the departures of Gunnar Nilsson, Jeff Carlton and Alberto Basora majority owner Mark Wallace demanded Matt Tripp relinquish his share of Gamma. Citing his abrasive personallity and ruthless business practices as the reason they just lost three top ranked fighters. The stubborn Tripp decided to keep his share of the company but he agreed to step down as President of the company as soon as a suitable replacement was found. After a lengthy interview process Gamma owners hired Scott Avatar, a young business man from Baltimore Maryland who has promised to take the promotion to new heights and rebuild the companies relationship with its disgruntled roster of fighters. July 1, 1996 The first thing on Avatars agenda was bolstering Gamma's roster of fighters so he extended contracts to Stratos Papaioannou, Harry Milne, George Laurent, Nicolai Mickiewicz, Andrew Rush, Tucker Plumm, Davis Spyrou, Doug Hansen, Lukas Mellberg, Rodolphe Gygax, and Jason Dalglish. After extending contracts to nearly a dozen different fighters Mr. Avatar opened negotiations for new deals with Darren Southall, Fernando Amaro, Marcus Speed, Marvin Stevens, and Mike Watson. Feeling there were to many smaller guys fighting at higher weight classes he asked many fighters to move down in weight. Lefter Oktay, Vincent Chapin and Milton Harvey have all moved down to Light Heavyweight. JJ Reid, Ricky Heath, Lenny McFadden, Christian Mountfield and Jethro Munter have all moved down to Middleweight. Maarten De Vries and Neil Napier have moved down to Welterweight. Geoff Cahill, Nathan Chambers and Keith Plaice have all moved down to Lightweight. With his roster now complete and full control of all day to day operations Scott began to book his first card as Gamma President
