The announcers talked about the TNA World Title match coming up later tonight during the match. Late in the match, Van Dam went for a Split-Legged Moonsault but Jerry Lynn moved out of the way! As Sabu and Bashir brawled outside the ring, Lynn made the cover inside the ring, using his feet on the ropes for leverage: 1...2...3!!! The XChange hit Brother Devon with a Drive-By and Hernandez got the pinfall victory![/I] [B]Winners: Latin American XChange Match Rating: D+[/B] [I]The Motor City Machine Guns hit the ring with chairs following the match and brought both members of L.A.X to the mat while Shane Douglas grabbed Salinas at ringside! They tied up Hernandez in the tree of woe and hit the Bullet Point: a baseball slide kick by Shelley and a hesitation dropkick by Sabin! Then they turned on Homicide and hit him in the back of the head with chairs in stereo! Joe started with some stiff kicks to Tomko's legs to wear down the larger foe but Tomko closed in the distance and began using his strength and size to his advantage on Joe. Tomko picked Joe up and spun before slamming him down to the mat, raising his arms to boos from the crowd! They were obviously pro-Joe here in New Jersey! Tomko continued the next several minutes, working over Joe's back before lifting him up in a Torture Rack! Joe struggled within the hold for over a minute, never giving up! Tomko slowly turned it into a neckbreaker and then made the cover: 1...2...Kickout! The crowd cheered with Joe's kickout! But Tomko continued the next several minutes with the advantage before Joe dodged a clothesline and got behind Tomko --- GERMAN SUPLEX, NO BRIDGE, ALL IMPACT!!! Samoa Joe slowly works his way back up but so does Tomko! Tomko with a big boot --- DUCKED! Samoa Joe with those stiff kicks to the legs of Tomko again! He chops Tomko hard across the chest several times, drawing some 'Whoooo's from the crowd before Joe picks Tomko up, scoop slam! Samoa Joe draws some energy from the crowd! He lifts the large Tomko --- MUSCLE BUSTER!!! He somehow hit the Muscle Buster on Tomko! Joe makes the cover: 1... 2... 3!!![/I] [B]Winner: Samoa Joe Match Rating: B-[/B] [I]Samoa Joe gets his arm raised in victory and then out from the back steps AJ Styles! A dueling AJ/Joe chant goes out through the crowd as AJ stares down Joe. Kurt Angle walked out alone as per the stipulation and stepped into the ring first before Christian came out. Christian forewent any explosions or anything and walked right to the ring, looking focused. The referee for this match is Rudy Charles. Angle and Christian stare daggers at each other from opposite corners as the bell sounds and this main event matchup is underway! The two men circle around the ring before meeting in the center and doing a little talking. Kurt reaches up and pats Christian on the cheek a couple of times before turning his back to walk toward a corner! Christian sneaks up on Kurt and rolls him up!: 1... 2... 3!!! NO! KICKOUT AT THE LAST MOMENT! Christian was half a count away from being the NEW TNA World Champion! Kurt quickly slides into a corner, staring at Christian and Christian uses his fingers to show that Angle was this close to losing the TNA World Heavyweight Title. The two met in the center of the ring again and locked up, each jockeying for position in that moment. Kurt manages a go-behind and holds a rear waistlock. Christian throws an elbow --- DUCKED --- Northern Lights Suplex by Angle with a bridge: 1...2...KICKOUT! The two men meet in the center of the ring again and jaw-jack with each other! Fans, we may be in for a long match here tonight with plenty of television time remaining! Christian shoves Kurt! Kurt throws a punch --- ducked --- Christian with an atomic drop on Kurt Angle! Kurt holds his rear end and Christian clotheslines him in the back of the head! Christian rolls Angle into a small package quickly: 1... 2... KICKOUT! Angle kicked out before the three but that's twice in a row that he came within a count of losing the TNA World Heavyweight Title! Angle charges Christian quickly and brings him to the mat with a double-leg takedown! Angle begins throwing punches to Christian's head quickly but Christian rolls toward Angle, reversing and throwing punches of his own! They finally roll against the ropes and referee Rudy Charles moves in to break things up. He pulls Christian back and Angle slides outside the ring to regroup and think things over! When Angle returns to the ring, he begins to take the advantage on Christian with a rake to the eyes and using some of his amateur wrestling background to keep Christian on the mat where this is Angle's Playground. Kurt turns his attention to the leg of Christian and begins to focus all of his moves on one leg of the Instant Classic, even going as far as to ram it against the ringpost! Angle returns inside the ring and stomps on the leg a few times, raising his arms in the air to boos from the crowd! The crowd here in Jersey is solidly behind the Instant Classic in this one. Angle locks in a kneebar and Christian screams out in pain, shaking his head that he doesn't want to give this one up. Angle will have to snap his leg most likely. The Olympic Champion pulls on that leg and Christian cries out again in pain! Christian tries to push, scratch and claw his way to the ropes and finally is able to grab the bottom rope before he has to tap out. Referee Rudy Charles has to physically break the hold and Kurt gets up and pushes the referee! Rudy Charles threatens to disqualify him but a DQ would save Angle's belt! Angle shoves the referee again and Rudy Charles shoves him back...right over Christian! Christian leans against the ropes, trying to get toward his feet before Angle can! Angle scurries up and Christian throws a punch but Angle moves back, dodging it. Kurt steps in with a kick to the knee, dropping Christian to the mat again! Kurt smiles as he slips behind Christian, helping him up --- GERMAN SUPLEX!! --- A SECOND GERMAN! --- ANGLE NAILS THE TRIFECTA! The Olympic Gold Medalist makes a soft cover: 1... 2... SHOULDER UP!!! Christian managed to get the shoulder up and the crowd here in Jersey pops! Kurt looks frustrated by this point! He gives a few stomps to Christian before dragging him over toward a corner and Kurt climbs the turnbuckles backward. He gives a quick peek over his shoulder --- MOONSAULT --- MISSED!!! Angle with one! They're brawling inside the ring here, exchanging punch for punch! Angle ducks a Christian punch and fires one of his own! Angle ducks again and hits Christian again. Christian fakes a punch and Angle ducks! Angle comes back up and Christian throws punch after punch, winding up the last one and flooring Angle with that big punch! Christian moves in and catches Angle with his good knee to the ribs. He turns Angle --- UNPRETTIER!!! The Unprettier out of nowhere from Christian but Christian is grabbing his knee! He can't make the cover! Finally, Christian crawls over and puts an arm over Kurt Angle. Can this do it?!? 1... 2... 3!!! That had to be three, right?!? Referee Rudy Charles looks toward the ring announcer and sees Kurt Angle's foot on the rope! Somehow Kurt must have put his foot on that bottom rope! Joe tried to lock on the Coquina Clutch late during the match but Rhino powered out of it as Christian Cage came out from the back with a chair in hand and taped ribs! Christian jumped on the apron, getting Rhino's attention and the referee's! Samoa Joe slid outside and grabbed a chair, sliding in and when Rhino turned, Joe decked him with two chair shots while Christian kept the referee occupied! Joe tossed the chair out of the ring and lifted Rhino --- MUSCLE BUSTER!!! The crowd was firmly behind Jeff Jarrett in this bout and Jeff took off to an early lead on Kurt, countering his technical holds with some of his own, slightly surprising the crowd. But it made their cheers for him even louder when he got several near falls early on Kurt Angle. Jeff went for the Stroke early but Kurt managed to avoid it and took the advantage over Jarrett. Kurt began his focus on the leg of the KOTM, wearing him down systematically with kneebars and stomps to the leg, as well as slamming it against the ringpost. The action spilled out of the ring where Kurt tried a splash against the ringpost but Jarrett moved out of the way and Angle hit his head on the ringpost! Jarrett slid Kurt into the ring and applied a few stomps with his good leg before moving in for a Figure 4 Leglock! Kurt pushed Jarrett away with a kick though and then popped to his feet, grabbing Jarrett --- ANGLE SLAM OUT OF NOWHERE! Kurt made a quick cover: 1...2...3!! This one featuring the #1 contenders: MCMG against the veteran duo of The Outsiders. Shane Douglas helped guide the top contenders from outside the ring, interfering when he could. These two just didn't click in the ring at all and Booker T gained some additional momentum heading into Turning Point with a slightly dominating performance in this match.
