SWF: Generation Supreme

Recommended Posts

Ace Newton vs Jay Chord vs Robbie Retro in a Supreme Threefold Threat™ Match for the SWF Generations Champions I can see Newton finally getting the title this time Art Reed vs Flex Garcia Reed has more to gain tbh Nevada Nuclear vs Zimmy Bumfhole I can Nuclear putting up a good fight but I doubt he's at the right level yet Los Diablos (Antonio Marquez + Gino Montero) vs Double Deuce (Cameron Vessey + Casey Valentine) Seems like a push is coming for Los Diablos, what with the revolucion and whatnot Sean Deeley vs Swoop McCarthy I think Swoop could go far in an Entertainment-based promotion Randy Bumfhole vs Joss Thompson Bumfhole is on another level to Thompson right now Sin Inc (Joe Sexy + John McClean) vs Chris Morrisette + ??? Morrisette will hopefully pull someone good out of the bag as a partner so I'm gonna go for him Jack Bruce vs Remo Bruce to progress to a title shot Valiant vs Rich Money Can't see the champ losing this one

Good predictions so far guys. I'm shooting to have the show up tonight, but no guarantees on that happening. One thing I will mention that I don't think I've ever brought up before... Sean Deeley... From what I can tell, he seems to have a good destiny attribute in my game. I already had plans in place for him before I signed him and learned that. When I look at Deeley, I think Kurt Angle. Take that for what you will.
When I look at Deeley, I think Kurt Angle. Take that for what you will. Reply With Quote
They do have some similarities, but I disagree in one aspect: entertainment, Deeley is bland, while Angle is one of the most entertaining men in and out of the ring. But if you can develop Deeley properly Entertainment-wise (which I suspect you'll be perfectly able to do) he'll definitely be a Kurt Angle. Ace Newton vs Jay Chord vs Robbie Retro in a Supreme Threefold Threat™ Match for the SWF Generations Champions Chord was put there probably to take the fall, so my money is on Newton getting the win Art Reed vs Flex Garcia Flex doesn't seem to have anything going for him Nevada Nuclear vs Zimmy Bumfhole I think you're going to give Nuke a solid winning streak, and a win against an upper midcarder seems perfect to boost him. Los Diablos (Antonio Marquez + Gino Montero) vs Double Deuce (Cameron Vessey + Casey Valentine) Viva la revolución! Sean Deeley vs Swoop McCarthy Unfortunately I don't think Swoop is going anywhere in the future, while Deeley seems to have at least a story going on. Randy Bumfhole vs Joss Thompson Gotta have at least one Bumfhole winning tonight Sin Inc (Joe Sexy + John McClean) vs Chris Morrisette + ??? Morrisette to take it since he's partners with the dreaded ??? Jack Bruce vs Remo DQ probably, Bruce needs another chance at the title and Remo needs to be kept strong, so it the logical choice to me Valiant vs Rich Money No way the champ's losing this one
Deeley's going to jump to TCW and join the Syndicate?
Ah good lord, no. At least, I hope not. Of course, that's assuming there will still be a Syndicate when Deeley's contract comes up... or a even a TCW, if I can help it... I'm not saying he's definitely going to end up being bigger than Swoop, or even Thompson for that matter. Just that he's probably going to go further in my game than he might in a lot of Sports Entertainment games. That's the hope, at least. I do have his Entertainment skills up to C in all three categories, MVP, so its definitely possible. Don't know how much higher I can get him, but he's not a complete liability in that regard anymore.
Deeley's a project for me as well - I don't think he's had a bad match for me yet. I don't know if anyone else is pushing him in their diaries, but he's a great worker for almost any fed.
In my diary game, he's signed a written contract with GCG who went National, so I have no chance of signing him at this moment in time. GCG are one of four National or above sized promotions in Japan (WLW are at Global).

He's one of my favorites in the game, ever since I started a game with CGC on TEW 2007. I am actually a bit surprised he doesn't end up in more diaries, given everything he brings to the table. Plus, he's a solid character as well - he never seems to complain much, no backstage shenanigans.
In my diary game, he's signed a written contract with GCG who went National, so I have no chance of signing him at this moment in time. I've heard that happen in a few games but it doesn't seem too likely in mine. There really isn't a lot of major movement in that regard. But I'm barely six months in, so maybe over time....

Eisen does not look happy. Richard Eisen: I have a few things I would like to discuss with our new SWF World Heavyweight champion... If you don't mind coming out here, Richard. Rich Money + Remo Money comes out with Remo by his side. The champion is carrying the SWF World Heavyweight championship belt over his should and he's wearing a slight grin as he makes his way down to the ring. The duo gets a bigger reception than Eisen... in a negative way... Rich Money: So I'm getting called 'Richard'? Makes me think I'm in trouble... Dick. Richard Eisen: Not quite in trouble.... I just wanted to remind you, champ, exactly who is in charge here. I am. Me. And I do not appreciate my champion deciding to take over and do my job. Rich Money: My apologies, Dick. My apologies. I wasn't trying to do your job. I was just trying to find a logical solution to a problem that was presented. Richard Eisen: A logical solution, Money? You think using your friend Remo here as a layer of protection is "logical"? Rich Money: Well, first off, Dick... I'm like you. I come from the old school way of doing things. And I believe that in this business, nothing should simply be handed to you. Everything has to be earned. And the only way to earn that is in the ring. When there are two men claiming the right to be the number one contender for this here belt, I felt that it was only right for them to prove that. To earn it. Richard Eisen: I can't really argue with that, Richard. However, I'm not so convinced on you using your friend here as the measuring stick. Money looks over at Remo, then back at Eisen. Rich Money: Why not? In my opinion, the Alpha Dog here is the best wrestler in the entire Supreme Wrestling Federation other than myself. If a contender for my SWF World Heavyweight championship has to earn a shot at the belt, why make the challenge easy? What would be the point of that? I want that challenger to really prove something. And I feel taking on Remo here truly does prove something. Remo: Thanks, Rich. Richard Eisen: Well, Remo is a helluva talent. Rich Money: Remo is more than a talent. He's money, just like me. Got the heart of a champion. Someday, the Alpha Dog is going to have this here belt. I just hope it isn't too soon. Remo: Ain't gonna try to steal your glory, Cash. Rich Money: See, what people don't seem to understand is that Remo here is my friend. One of my closest friends. Some of you fans seem to think that he's here as my protection or security guard. Which is quite insulting to both of us. Remo is way too talented for that. And someone of my talent really doesn't need a layer of protection. A security guard might be a good idea, just to keep away the rabid female fans. Money gives a sly smile to the crowd, drawing a heavy round of jeers. Rich Money: Now if you still feel I was wrong to make these arrangements, Dick, you can go ahead and change them. I won't argue. I am fully aware that you're in charge here. I'm not disrespectful towards authority like Jack Bruce. I just wanted you to understand why I thought Bruce and Bumfhole should face Remo first. Richard Eisen: I'm not going to change the matches, Richard. I would just prefer that you let me make these decisions, in the future. Rich Money: For sure, Dick! Richard Eisen: Now, about this announcement you have for tonight... Rich Money: Its no use asking me to give any hints, Dick. You'll find out when everyone else does. With his trademark smirk, Money drops the microphone and rolls out of the ring. With a nod at the CEO, Remo follows. Grade: A
Jerry Eisen: Hey, here comes dad! There is a lack of flow to the match, but its watchable. It basically becomes a two-way match after Newton gets tossed from the ring. Retro takes control over Chord and looks about to get the pinfall, but Newton stops the pin. Newton hits the champ with a low blow, then hits Chord with his Aces High Go 2 Sleep finisher. With his feet on the ropes, Newton gets the pin. It doesn't take long for Zimmy to wipe the confident smirk off The Nuke's face. The match turns into an entertaining battle, as the newcomer goes to war with Zimmy. SM York screams encouragement from outside the ring, urging The Nuke on. He starts to take control of the match, but the athleticism of the Bumfhole is just too much. It gives Zimmy the advantage and he eventually manages to hit a snap suplex. While Nuclear is down, Zimmy goes up to the top rope. York tries to distract Zimmy, giving Nuke time to get up. Joss Thompson: Of course you're a manager. Dani Nevada: No, I'm really not. Sean Deeley: Yes, you are. Dani Nevada: No, I'm not. Joss Thompson: You're managing that Art the Fart guy. So therefore... Sean Deeley: You are a manager. Dani Nevada: I'm not managing Art. I'm just helping him out a bit. Joss Thompson: Helping him out a bit? Dani Nevada: You know advice and that. Sean Deeley: So you're managing him. Dani Nevada: No, I'm really not. He's just an old family friend. Just helping him friend his bearings in this big promotion. Joss Thompson: That sounds suspicious. Sean Deeley: So if you aren't a manager, why are you here? Dani Nevada: In the SWF? I'm an interviewer. Remember all those interviews I do? That's why I'm here. Sean Deeley: No, here. Joss Thompson: In this office. If you aren't a manager, Dani, why did you apply for this job? Dani Nevada: I didn't apply for this job. You guys told me you want me to interview you. If I realized it was going to be the other way around, I would have said no. Joss Thompson: Well, if you aren't really a manager, Dani, I don't think this can work. Sean Deeley: You're a very pretty girl, but we've got the good looks department covered ourselves. We're not looking for an escort. Joss Thompson: Valet, Sean. You mean valet. Sean Deeley: We don't need either. Joss Thompson: So thank you for your time, Ms. Nevada. We'll be in touch. Dani stares at the duo for a long moment before she slowly gets up. Dani Nevada: The time I just wasted in here, I could have spent doing something important... like interviewing that Enygma guy who doesn't talk. With that, Dani turns and walks out, her hips swaying. The Badd Kompany duo stare out after her. Joss Thomspon: Scratch another one off the list... Deeley licks his finger and makes a scratching motion off of an imaginary list. Joss Thompson: I don't know, Sean, I'm starting to lose faith. I just don't know if there's a manager out there who's going to fit our needs. Sean Deeley: It's entirely disheartening. Joss Thompson: Indeed it is. Sean Deeley: Maybe we'll just have to settle for getting an escort. Joss Thompson: You mean a valet. Sean Deeley: Or that... Joss Thompson: Aren't you supposed to wrestle now? Sean Deeley: Oh crap... Its the biggest pop of the match as the crowd never really gets into it again. McCarthy tries to power his way through, but Deeley uses his smarts and his technique to keep the match slow and deliberate. He wears the bigger man down before managing to lock on a choke that gets the submission victory. The SWF World Heavyweight championship belt sits on Money's lap. Notably, there is a garbage can beside him. Rich Money: I'd like to thank all you Money-ites for joining me tonight. Because this is important to me. What I need to do tonight is making an admission. See, awhile back I had an epiphany. I thought I had it all.... I date beautiful women. I drive the most desirable cars. I live in the lap of luxury. I live the life everyone aspires to, and I wanted more. I wanted something that would leave a true legacy. I wanted to win the SWF World Heavyweight championship to make my mark. To make sure I leave a legacy. And I've done that. Remo: D*mn right you did! Rich Money: But now that I've done it, I find myself reflecting upon my great accomplishment. I find myself staring at this belt... and I'm disappointed. The showman lets that hang for a moment before he continues. Rich Money: Not in my accomplishment. But in this belt. I mean, what it represents is great. But the belt itself... Its bland. Worse than that, Jack Bruce hung onto this thing for d*mned near a year. He was called “the decadent champion” by many, and I really don't want to know what that means. Given how much he loved this belt, I really don't want to think what this belt has seen... or had done to it. I've had it cleaned, shined, re-cleaned... and it still feels soiled. So like any any soiled bit of clothing... Money makes a show of standing up, opening the garbage can beside him and placing the SWF World Heavyweight championship belt inside of it. Remo: Goodbye to bad rubbish. Rich Money: Too true, my friend. Now, it was short notice, but I had a friend of mine whip up a nice little replacement. Something more fitting a champion of my caliber. Money nods at Remo. The big man reaches down besides his chair and pulls a sleek metal briefcase out. He sits it on his lap and works to open it. There is a combination lock, which Remo fumbles with momentarily. It makes for an awkward silence as Money waits and Remo struggles. He finally gets it open and hands the unlocked case to the champion. Rich Money: Now, what I have here is a version of the SWF World Heavyweight championship that is worthy of a champion of my caliber. That represents everything that the champion of the Supreme Wrestling Federation should represent. With a flourish, Money opens the case and removes a glittering black belt. It is garish yet classy, encrusted with diamonds without looking ostentatious. He holds it up over his head and the camera zooms in. Rich Money: Now this is a belt I can be proud of. A belt that is truly money. Remo: Wow, when you said the thing was an upgrade, I thought you meant a slight upgrade. Cash, that thing is nice. Rich Money: Yeah, I like it. Remo: And on short notice, too... Rich Money: Yeah, that's what money connections will do for you, Remo. Money sits back down, the brand new black belt resting across his lap. Rich Money: So there you have it, Money-ites. Your idol not only has the life you want and the championship everyone desires, but now the belt even looks the part. Remo: That's so money.. Rich Money: Oh, and it seems a few of you fans were concerned that a certain former associate of ours had hurt Hard Cash in some manner... You need not worry. Money isn't so easily hurt. Why, I was just out with a couple lovely young ladies last night who were more than happy to heal whatever hurts I might have. Swedish models. Twins. Remo: Cash, why is it that you always end up with the twins? Rich Money: Because you can't handle the twins! The two friends grin at each other as the picture fades out. Grade: A
Richard Eisen: Jerry, get back there and get that belt out of the garbage. R-Bum is obviously the superior athlete and wrestler, but Thompson is not that far behind him. The match features a bit of everything, including both Sean Deeley and Zimmy Bumfhole getting involved on the outside. A boot to the back from Deeley slows Randy down, and Thompson nearly takes advantage with a couple of near-pins. He fights back, getting a roar from the crowd at one point as he skins the cat to get back into the ring. A short time later, he sets up Thompson for a Bumfhole Buster and gets the pinfall. It shows the trio in a series of real world situations - enjoying dinner at a fancy restaurant, goofing around in the park, riding in a limo. In each circumstance, DuBois is stylishly-dressed but wearing the SWF North American championship. It soon becomes clear that the video isn't so much about the camaraderie of the stable but DuBois' love affair with his championship belt. When the music of Warrior Faith hits, there's no doubting who Morrisette found to be his partner. The SWF Supreme champion gets a massive roar of approval. The match itself is solid, but seems to be carried along by a crowd thrilled to see one of Supreme Legends from the other brand so unexpectedly. The battle features a typical tag team story, as Faith is slowed by some heelish tactics, isolate and worked over. He works to get the tag with Morrisette but keeps narrowly missing. When he finally tags in his partner, the crowd goes nuts. Morrisette cleans house and the duo stay in control under Morrisette manages to get a pinfall on Sexy a short time later. Bruce comes out first, looking at the chair. When Remo makes his way to the ring, he's with the champion Rich Money. With his sleek new SWF World Heavyweight championship in his arms, Hard Cash takes a comfortable seat in the big chair. The match itself starts slowly, as Remo seems to be baiting Bruce into making the first move while the former champion knows how important this match is. They play a bit of cat and mouse. Remo finally seems to tire of it, and attacks with furious speed. Bruce manages to avoid taking much damage, and seems intent to avoid powerful offense that Remo throws his way. The big youngster eventually catches The Long Island Angel with a knee, slowly him down. Remo begins to work him over, pounding away at the 36-year old. Bruce gets worked over by everything in Remo's arsenal - a Hit and Run, then Lumbar Puncture, a series of lariats, and then Remo Buster spinebuster. It looks like he's done, but he kicks out of the pin attempt. Another Remo Buster and another kick out. The momentum switches when Remo goes for The Destroyer STO but Bruce manages to counter with a series of elbows. He leaps onto the ropes and flies at Remo, the veteran racing around the ring with his hair flying and fists flurrying. He finally manages to get Remo off his feet, which draws a big reaction from the crowd. A big boot from the Alpha Dog slows Bruce back down, and Remo looks steamed. The duo begin to outright brawl in the middle of the ring. It goes outside, and they begin to throw each other into everything in sight - the ring posts, the announcers table, even the stairs. Every time the ref starts to count, one of them makes it back into the ring. But after Bruce goes up to the top rope to do a frog splash onto Remo when he's still on the apron, it looks like they clash heads. Both men get up slowly, and neither makes it back into the ring before the ref hits the ten count. They get a pretty good pop, but warily eye up Remo and Rich Money. The duo are still at ringside, still sitting in the big armchair that was brought down for the Remo-Bruce match. Despite the disconcerting audience, Gilmore grabs a microphone and starts to say what he has to say. Angry Gilmore: There's been something I've been wanting to address for awhile now. Something that's been eating away at me a bit. After he turned on me, Joe Sexy said that I've changed. And he's right. I have changed. I've learned about things like accountability and responsibility. I've grown up as a person and as a man. And my beautiful wife here is to thank. The two embrace. At ringside, Remo and Money share an "awww" look. Angry Gilmore: At The Supreme Challenge, I gave Sexy a bit of payback for what he did to me. And for the disrespect he paid to Jessie here. Now, Joe might think we're even now. We're not. Not by a long ways. Joe is going to learn just how dangerous the reformed Angry Gilmore can be. The crowd roars their approval at this. Money and Remo actually egg the crowd on, which gets a reaction and further pop for Gilmore. Angry Gilmore: Joe's going to have to wait, though. Because for the moment, Team Gilmore has our goals set on something a bit higher. Like Rich Money's World championship belt. I'm tired of going after the North American belt or the tag belts. Those hold no more glory for me. Jessie: Its time for Angry to get into the main event, where he belongs. Angry Gilmore: That's right. I'm not one to talk myself up a great deal. I'll leave that to the likes of Money. But being a bit humble doesn't mean I don't understand my skills or my value. And I know I'm good enough to be the SWF World Heavyweight champion. I want a chance to prove that. Need a chance to prove it! You want to use Remo as your measuring stick, Money? I'm fine with that. I'll face Remo whenever and whenever. If you're man enough, Alpha Dog, I'll show you just what being Angry is all about! Still sitting outside the ring, Rich Money and Remo make no move to climb into the ring. Remo simply makes a bring it on gesture at Gilmore, indicating he'll accept the challenge whenever and wherever. Valiant comes down to the ring while Money is still seated in his big chair at ringside. When Money's music hits, he stands up and strips down to his suit pants and dresses shoes. He leaves the new championship belt with Remo, who sits in the chair to watch the match. Money circles the ring twice before climbing. The match is entertaining and not as one-sided as many expected. Valiant acquits himself quite well against the champion. Money uses his technical skills to control large portions of the match, but Valiant keeps battling back. The champion uses his size to his advantage well against the middleweight Valiant, but the tag team champion is determined to make the most of his opportunity. Money is simply too good, however. When a flurry of offense from Valiant looks like it has Hard Cash on his heels and stunned, Valiant goes for his V-Split finisher but finds it blocked. A Money Shaker uppercut stuns Valiant, followed by a Money in the Bank suplex, and finally the Dollars from Heaven splash gives the champion the pinfall win. The crowd goes nuts. Neither man has a microphone but its not hard to tell what the conversation is. Bruce is demanding a chance to get his belt back, while Money taunts him that he blew his chance by failing to beat Remo. Money doesn't look ready to throw down, but Bruce seems to get closer to it. So Remo quietly slides into the ring and stands behind the former champion. The Long Island Angel suddenly realizes he's surrounded. There is another roar from the crowd as Chris Morrisette, Christian Faith, Angry Gilmore, and both Bumfhole brothers make their way down to the ring in a hurry. They keep everyone apart. The sight of the Bumfhole duo sets Bruce off again, however, and he begins shouting at the youngsters. Morrisette has to hold Brue back while Zimmy keeps R-Bum in a corner. Meanwhile, Rich Money has retreated to a neutral corner, taken a seat on the top turnbuckle with his belt in his lap, and the champion laughs as his challengers try to turn on each other.
I so know who Payne () is
Really that easy? I was hoping this one would be at least a bit tougher to figure out than "The Nuke". Oh well... And I do need to give a big shout out to ReapeR for once again coming through on the belt render front. Really like the Money version of the SWF World Heavyweight championship he did there. Oddly, I kinda hope he does read the thanks here (yet) as he should be enjoying his time home with his family. But thanks again ReapeR! Looks like most people expected Bruce to take the win against Remo. This should make things interesting, though. I might be in danger of turning Supreme TV into the Rich Money show, but having some serious fun with the character.

Random thought for the day... is it possible to move up in the world without stepping on those who have helped you get there? "Don't forget where you came from." That simple-sounding piece of advice was one of many that Alex DeColt attempted to instill me in training. Part of his "Absolutely Necessary Life Lessons in the Pursuit of Being a Professional Wrestler". One of many pieces of advice that he gave me, but one that stuck with me. I always took that particular piece of advice to be both literal and figurative. I took it to mean don't forget who you really are. I took it to mean don't forget who helped you get where you are. I took it to mean don't forget the hard work it took to get you where are you, and the lucky breaks that helped you along the way. It was an important piece of advice for life in general, not just the wrestling business. Forgetting where he had come from was a big reason that Barry Bowen is not a real popular person around the DeColt family anymore. He's not that popular a person around the Supreme Wrestling Federation, mainly because he's a massive jerk all the way around. Train refuses to do anything to help out the DeColt's at this point, even minor stuff. He refused to talk to Supreme when Alex was trying to find a place for me after I completed the training camp. Thankfully Morrisette is not a jerk and was willing to help out. None of this was on my mind as the show ended. Another very good episode of Supreme TV. I expected the ratings to be strong on that one. It put me in a good mood. So did the fact that we were in Boston. I could be in Providence in barely ninety minutes, and that was sorely tempting. I was standing in the Crippler Position beside Pat Deacon as the final segment of the show ended. The group of wrestlers who had been involved in a stand-off to end the show came into the back one at a time, their exits still part of the show. When Remo and Money stepped through the entraceway, the house lights started to come on, the house music began to play, and the fans took the cue to head to the exits. The group of Supreme Legends didn't disperse immediately, standing around and joking before heading to their respective dressing rooms. Valiant gave a hearty handshake to Rich Money, in sincere thanks for helping the long-haired youngster to the best match he's had since he joined the SWF. Remo and Jack Bruce were discussing the match they had. The Bumfholes brothers kind of stood by themselves, as usual for them. Faith took the time to congratulate me for another solid show. The congratulatory session lasted for a short while before people started to drift away, to head off to whatever their night held for them. Before they headed to their locker room, Remo and Rich took a moment. "Thanks man," Rich said to me. "Sincerely." "Things have been so much better since you've been here," Remo told me. "You don't even know." I wasn't sure what to say, so I shrugged. "Just doing my part," I said weakly. After Remo shook my hand - with bone-crushing strength, no less - Money stepped up. But instead of a handshake, I got a surprise hug. "You're the best, Avatar," he said to me. There was real emotion in his voice. Before I could say anything in response, the duo headed off. Those two were actually very good friends in real life. Art imitating life, I guess. I could understand where Money was coming from, though. He had been one of the best in the SWF for years now, but he'd taken a back seat to the likes of Runaway Train, Sam Keith, and even Squeeky McClean for a bit. A year ago, he wasn't main eventing shows, he was fighting Eric Eisen over the North American championship. Now he was the primary heel in the entire promotion. Remo was right there with him. I imagine Money got quite frustrated over the past few years. Talent-wise, there are few in Supreme that are better. Yet he couldn't move past Train and Keith. To Rich's credit, he never compalined, just kept his mouth shut and kept giving his best night after night. What a lot of fans fail to realize is that Money's gimmick of being a rich city slicker is pretty close to reality. He comes from a wealthy family. He didn't get into the business to make money, as he's never been anything but wealthy. But all the wealth in the world couldn't move him up the card in the Supreme Wrestling Federation if the backstage politics weren't allowing him to. I knew he was giving me a great deal of credit for helping him make that break-though, but I don't think I did anything that wouldn't have happened without me. I made my way back to my temporary office in the back of the arena, but I never made it there. I was thinking over the logistics of a high-speed run to Providence, with my hand on my cell phone. I had Amanda Eisen's number programmed in, and I'm sure she would love it. Did I really want to do that? I never got to make the call, though, as the cell phone rang. A number from the 250 area code that I didn't recognize. "Hello?" I answered. "Kid," grunted a familiar voice. "You're hard as hell to get ahold of." "Alex," I responded with genuine surprise. "How's it going?" "It would be going a whole hell of a lot better if you would quit taking all my talent," Alex DeColt told me bluntly. I made a sharp inhale and tried to decide a way to respond. "Look, Alex, I understand. But I have nothing to do with that area of the business," I said. It was even sorta true. DeColt didn't respond right away, finally saying, "Look, I could understand Tyler and Shooter. But the Nelson and Rivera? And now I hear rumblings that you guys are looking at a couple of my brothers. Tell me why I shouldn't be right pissed off right now, kid?" If this conversation was video instead of just audio, I'm sure I couldn't have hid my wince from Alex. Instead, I just told him, "Look, Alex, I honestly don't do anything with that side of things here. I really wouldn't know anything about that. I'm not sure what you've heard, but I'm just doing some stuff with creative while working in development." The irony of being a convincing liar when you really don't like lying at all. There was some truth to what I've said. I don't know if Eisen has made contact with any of the DeColt boys. I would only find out if they agreed a contract, with a bit of notice to start laying the creative plans. I do know that all four DeColt names were listed on the top secret contract status information that Richard had asked me to go over recently, and I had written up a couple scenarios for making use of the DeColt's, dependent on who we landed. Ideally, we would get Steve and Jack to use as a tag team... That was a happy thought, but I quickly banished it from my mind. Luckily, Alex didn't call my bluff on that one. He just ranted a bit. "Look, I know you guys are the center of the wrestling universe and all that down there, but you gotta leave us something, kid. We have to make things work here too. I mean, the way things are going, you're gonna have both us and the Stone's out of business in a couple of years." "That's not what we want... what I want, I mean, Alex," I told him truthfully. "Its just a period of growth here, you know. With the brand split and all that. things will settle down. You'll see." "Yeah, settle down. And that brand split thing," DeColt muttered. "Two title belts in one promotion.... What was Eisen thinking on that one?" I didn't answer that. Especially since I was the the one behind it. I'm not about to tell DeColt that, because I don't want him thinking I have more power than I do. Instead, I made a suggestion, "Look, you could always talk to Esien about setting up some sort of talent trade deal." DeColt laughed. "Kid, Eisen never goes for those sort of things. Dad made that offer a couple of times, and I've that Stone Senior did as well. Eisen isn't having it. He doesn't need to." I was back to my little temporary office by this point. I closed the door and sat in behind the desk. "I don't know what to tell you, Alex," I said with honesty. "I can understand your frustration, and I can try to talk to Mr. Eisen for you. But I'm just a small fish in a big pond and its not like my word carries much weight around here." "That's not what I hear." I laughed, saying, "You reading the Internet rumors, Alex? I heard there's one going around that I've replaced Peter Michaels." "Yeah, I heard something like that. But I stay off the rumor sites, kid. I heard it from someone I trust." That was disconcerting, but I told him, "Then maybe your source has a bad source. Or they heard something that got exaggerated." "Could be, could be," DeColt agreed, but then said, "Regardless, I do expect to see you taking over Peter Michael's job in the next year." I laughed, and he actually laughed with me. So I made my former trainer an offer, saying, "Look, until I do make the Head Booker here, I'm just another small cog. In the meantime, I'll talk to Michael's about your concerns. He can take it up to Mr. Eisen and maybe they'll realize what a strain its putting on your guys. Maybe they can offer compensation next time - money, or a loan of some of the developmental talent. I don't know, but something. Maybe you'll end up with me back on loan." Alex agreed that he'd be happy with the issue being brought to Richard Eisen's attention. We proceeded to spend the next thirty minutes just chatting and catching up. I had spent awhile with the DeColt training camp, though I can't really say that I have become friends with the guy. It would be a bit like becoming friends with a teacher while you were still a student in high school. But he always seemed like a good guy. Alex had a ton of war stories about the wrestling business and he had a great way of telling them - he was a natural performer in that regard. The difference was that now I had a few war stories I could tell as well, though I was careful not to let too much information through. That was tough, to be honest, to censor yourself like that. When DeColt and I finally promised to keep closer in touch and ended the call, I looked at my watch and realized there would be no trip to Providence tonight. Which was probably a better move, though I'm certain Amanda would have thrilled to have me show up. Screw it, I decided. I grabbed my gear and headed for the door. You only live once... What's the worst that could happen? I mean, she's only my bosses daughter, right? The drive also gave me time to think over some things that Alex had said. Some ideas I had, and not regarding the creative side of things. Regarding the business side of things. He was right - it wasn't in Supreme's best interest to kill off all the small promotions through North America. Quite the opposite. We needed to be proactive in protecting the small guys, and in protecting the workers. As for destination, well, all I'll say is that it was well worth the effort. Couple of things I mean to mention about the last show... The A grade was surprising. I made some booking errors on it - a weak opening match, for one. And had three or four matches end up with bad chemistry. Some strong angles and a surprisingly good main event carried it through, though. Was going to put Remo-Bruce as the main event, but the I remember why I wanted the belt off Bruce in the first place and thought better of it... As for the main event, I can't help but wonder if Money-Valiant could have pulled an A* if I had the belt on the line? Oh well, I decided to play the "heel champ who wants to defend only on PPVs angle" and I guess I gotta run with that.

The Fry Report Preview
Every week on The Fry Report podcast will provide the latest information on everything Supreme. News, rumors, and interviews, all brought to you by the incomparable Duane Fry. Preview for podcast available Wednesday, Week 4, July 2008 "Can Troy Tornado really take the SWF Supreme Championship away from Christian Faith, less than two weeks after the Supreme Legend™ won it at The Supreme Challenge 28? If Tornado is successful, will he hand the belt over to Rocky Golden as the leader of the faction has demanded? This match alone makes SWF Legends a can't miss this week!" "Last week, Eric Tyler made the shocking announcement of his retirement from active competition. Even more shocking was the revelation that Tyler had accepted as the General Manager of the Legends brand. The move puts him directly at odds with Phil Vibert, a long-time ally. Tyler apparently has a big announcement to make this week, and I'm told it will have an impact on the Welcome to the Jungle 2008 pay per view!" "The SWF Supreme Championship won't be the only belt on the line this week. In fact, all three belts on the Legends brand will be defended. Bloodstone will put the SWF Legends belt up against Brett Biggz, while Kid Toma faces off against the aerial sensation Remmy Skye for the Shooting Star championship." "The jury is still out on the whole brand split experiment for the Supreme Wrestling Federation. It has certainly been successful in providing fans with more sports entertainment every week. A big question that many are asking is whether the wrestlers will really stick with one brand and whether its really in their interest to do so. The big brand switch so far has been "Big Money" Brandon James, a move engineered by his brilliant agent Emma Chase. I've heard rumblings that there could be another notable move coming. It will be tough to be as big as James, but we'll have to wait and see." "At The Supreme Challenge 28, Remo beat down fellow big men Ray Diaz and Runaway Train to allow him to call himself the "Alpha Dog" of the Supreme Wrestling Federation. This week, we'll get to see Diaz and the former two-time SWF World Heavyweight champion Runway Train face each other, and on TV this time. Just another reason you can't miss this weeks' SWF Legends. Catch it on CBA tonight!"
The Fry Report will be available on SWF.com or directly from iTunes.
An extra special feature for the Fry Report... Sorry, just realized I had Texas Pete twice in the three-way match. Shockingly, I didn't clone Texas Pete and make him face himself for kicks. Its supposed to be Pete vs Jett vs Eric Eisen. Though on second thought, the cloning option might have been a better one. Its definitely an option I'll keep in mind for a future show.

Ray Diaz vs Runaway Train Actually a pretty damn tricky one to call, because Diaz has been getting more of a gradual push but Train is more established, despite not really doing much of late. I'm going to be a total cop out and say this ends up in a dead heat. The Upper Class vs Strong + Hernandez vs Akima Brave + ??? One of those matches where the mystery man could make all the difference. The Biggz Boyz and the Samoan Wildboyz eye each other from opposite corners. In the center of the ring is a locked metal display case on a pedestal. Tyler has a microphone and motions for the crowd to quiet down. Eric Tyler: I'm out here tonight do what Phil Vibert should have been doing from day one on this brand - exerting some control. Mr. Eisen has some serious concerns about some things that have been happening here on the Legends brands - random attacks, major decisions made on the fly, and so on. Those concerns are why he asked me to take the role as General Manager. Now, as the General Manager, I'm going to be out here on a regular basis to address certain issues. I'm going to be proactive about things. This is going to be a regular thing, so we might as well give it a name. Personally, I like the sound of "Mr. Tyler Says." Wearing a smirk, Mr. Tyler let's this hang for a moment before he continues. Eric Tyler: Now I can't stand hear and say that Phil Vibert did nothing with this brand. He's obviously done a few things right. Introducing the Supreme championship was a great decision. So was introducing the Sky Club division. I don't want to fans to think I'm here trying to undo the good things Vibert did. Or simply to criticize him. However, as the General Manager, there are problems I simply can't overlook. Another dramatic pause. Eric Tyler: The Sky Club division has a championship belt in the Shooting Star championship. Currently held by Kid Toma here. The problem is that the division also has a number of tag teams. As part of the legends brand, these tag teams really aren't eligible to compete for the SWF World Tag team championship belts, as they are part of the Supreme brand. Several of the Sky Club tag teams brought this to my attention, and I have to admit that I see their point. So I took it upon myself to rectify the problem. Which is why everyone is out here tonight. Ana, if you please. Playing the "Vana White" role, Ana Garcia opens the top portion of the metal case, revealing the pair of SWF Sky Club Tag team championship belts encased inside. She spins the pedestal slowly, so that the entire crowd can view them. Eric Tyler: I would like to introduce the SWF Sky Club Tag Team championships. Ana takes one of the belts out of the case and slowly walks around the ring with it, holding it above her head as she walks to show it off to the fans. Tyler waits for her to finish and seems slightly annoyed at the delay. Eric Tyler: Once I had decided to introduce the new tag belts, I had to decide the best way to crown the first champions. I decided on a four-team mini-tournament, with the deciding match at Welcome to the Jungle 2008 on pay per view. Unfortunately, that means leaving some deserving teams out. The Biggz Boys are four times SWF World tag team champions and the Samoan Wildboyz are two-time champions. Both are very deserving. But seeing that there is a match between Toma and Bart scheduled for the pay per view for the Shooting Star championship, that won't work. BJ O'Neill: Tentatively scheduled, bra. Eric Tyler: Right. Tentatively scheduled. Still, that means both teams are out. So I've decided on four participants in the tournament. And they are... the promising young tandem The Upper Class, John Greed and Paul Huntingdon! She finally stops and looks a bit embarrassed. With a shake of his head, Tyler continues. Eric Tyler: I also made the decision to update the SWF Shooting Star championship belt. Neither backs down as they batter away at each other. The younger Diaz takes control of the match, but some subtle interference from Eric Eisen at ringside gives the momentum back to Train. Before long, the power of Diaz beings to overwhelm again and he gets a near pin after a Monster Mash clothesline that looks particularly nasty. Diaz continues to work the former world champion over, and when it looks like he has the match won, Eisen gets involved again by reaching through the ropes and moving Train's leg onto the bottom rope, which stops the pinfall. After a Ray Gun, it looks like a sure pinfall victory this time, but Eisen again interferes. Referee Jay Fair catches it and starts yelling at Eisen. "The Chosen One" yells right back, leading to Jay Fair yelling back. When Eisen puts his hands on the ref, Fair calls the match. Diaz pushes Eisen away from the ref. The ref then announces Diaz as the winner, leaving both Eisen and Runaway Train steamed. It is not that big, but its quite nice. Seated in front of the desk is manager RC Dodger. Tyler is clearly paying attention to what the southern gentleman has to say. RC Dodger: Y'all talk about how this brand of the SWF is about tough rasslers and old school values. But... I don't see how that can be the case. Because I represent the interests of three rasslers who are the very definition of tough and old school. Yet, these three - Shady K, Knuckles, and Kurt Laramee - keep getting ignored. I can't explain it! I don't understand it! An' I don't like it. Now, I am impoin' you, Mr. Tyler, as a good and righteous man, to right this wrong. Eric Tyler: Well, if you really see this as some sort of massive injustice, Mr. Dodger, I'm sure we can find some way to fix it. I can't really see your tag team as part of the Sky Club division, but I'm willing to play along. They'll face The Upper Class tonight, and the winner of that match gets to participate in the tag tournament. How's that? RC Dodger: Well that's mighty fine, Mr. Tyler. And about Laramee...? Eric Tyler: Ah yes, how could I forget Kurt Laramee. Let see who's available yet tonight. How does American Element sound? RC Dodger: Excuse me, but who? Eric Tyler: Exactly. RC Dodger: Oh, I see. Clever, Mr. Tyler. Clever. Now I do thank you for your time. With a gentlemanly nod, Dodger gets up and makes his way out of the office. He is quickly replaced by BJ O'Neill. Tyler seems a bit surprised to see her. BJ O'Neill Eric Tyler: Ah, Ms. O'Neill. And what can I help you with now? BJ O'Neill: Mr. Tyler, I wanted to say I understand your decision to leave my Samoans out of the tournament because Toma is da champ. But I have another team... Eric Tyler: Wait, another team? BJ O'Neill: Another team, bra. Eric Tyler: Okay, I'm willing to bite. Another team asked for a chance, and will be facing The Upper Class later tonight. Your new team can make it a menage a trois. But I warn you, BJ, if this is some kind of trick, I will not be impressed. And annoying the new boss is not a good plan. Toma is booked to defend his belt tonight and that's it. So if you're going to run Toma out there in a mask or something similar, you better find another plan fast. BJ O'Neill: No tricks, bra. Another team. Another good team. Eric Tyler: I am guessing that Akima is part of this new team? BJ nods with a smile. Eric Tyler: Well, this does cause a problem with Akima's match with Bart Biggz tonight. But that's fine - we can move that to next week. Its still goin to happen, though. BJ O'Neill: Alright. Thank you, Mr. Tyler. BJ O'Neill leaves Tyler and he looks as though he's about to start some paperwork when there is a light knock at the door. Not hiding the fact that he's annoyed at another interruption, the General Manager waves him in. Eric Tyler: And what can I help you with, Mr. Miwa? Mr. Miwa: You put my tag team against The New Wave tonight. Ota and Narato are not brawlers. Eric Tyler: Well, I can certainly understand your concern... The camera pulls back as Tyler discusses the issue with Mr. Miwa. The match is something less than exciting. Its sloppy and rather lacking in entertainment. The lack of any sort of experience between Erik Strong and Mainstream Hernandez is obvious. The match is mostly dominated by the power Rhino, who uses his size advantage over everyone else in the ring to toss them about. He does look impressive. It goes for naught, though, when Huntingdon ends the match with a quick rollup pin on Erik Strong. The Samoan contingent does not look impressed. Benson recovers soon enough, and gets back involved in the match. Ana takes her treat and sits down on one of the couches, tucking her legs up underneath her. She starts to enjoy the candy, but then suddenly stops. She hears something. She looks into the darkness on the other side of the lounge. There is a scraping sound and Ana leaps to her feet. She looks and there is a large shape in the dark. The crowd gives a warm reaction of boos. Brandon James is still massively popular with the crowd, in the negative sense. In the ring, Emma grabs a microphone. Emma Chase: We're out here tonight to address a few untruths that have apparently managed to start floating about. I want this out in the open before it can damage the reputation of my client any further. Now there is apparently a malicious piece of fiction being circulated that having my client join the Legends brand was some sort of miscalculation on my part, seeing as he didn't manage to win the Supreme Championship at The Supreme Challenge. I want to be perfectly clear on this - having Brandon join this brand was always part of the plan. Brandon James nods at this point, as if he actually understands all the big words that Emma is using. Emma Chase: I would obviously prefer if Brandon was standing here in front of you all right now as the champion, but that part will be corrected soon enough. But breaking up Big Money Incorporated stable and bringing Brandon here was an important step. Because while Rich Money and Remo might be great wrestlers, they were not a positive influence to Brandon here. For all his talents in the ring, he has a... delicate disposition outside of it. But that's why he has me. To look after his best interests. To put him in the best position to succeed. Another agreeing nod from Brandon. Emma Chase: As for the championship belt that Christian Faith has, that's a problem I have already begun working on. I've opened negotiations with our new Legends General Manager Mr. Tyler about securing Brandon a title shot. Unfortunately, Vibert has already put Faith in a match against Vengeance at the Welcome to the Jungle pay per view next month. If we can't get involved in that match to make it a three way, there are always more opportunities. Because our esteemed champion is 42-years old and only getting older each day. Now I trust that clears that up for some of you who were "confused". Emma drops the microphone and makes to leave the ring. Brandon picks it up. Brandon James: Thank you. This match, however, is not crap. Its actually quite entertaining. Its Texas Pete uses his size and power to throw around his smaller two opponents. The two lightweights take different approaches - Eisen basically tries to keep away from Pete to avoid getting beat down while Jacob Jett shows guts - though less brains - but being willing to battle with the big Texan. That's a losing proposition. Pete gets several near pins on Jett, but they are continually by Eisen's well-time interventions. Eisen actually spends some time outside the ring to avoid Pete. The turning point is right after Pete lands his Lone Star Drop powerbomb, then decides to drop a knee before the pin, but when he goes to the ropes, Runway Train reaches up and pulls the top rope down, causing the big Texan the tumble through the ropes and out of the ring. Basically hiding in the corner at this point, Eisen rushes in to put his Silver Spoon Shock neckbreaker on Jett and then get the pinfall. Pete is prevented from getting back in the ring by Train. The big man looks furious. Christian Faith: That's funny, kid. Rocky Golden: No, its not funny, old man. It's a Golden Promise. I'm going to take that belt of yours away from you. Maybe Tornado takes it from you tonight and hands it over to me. Maybe I take myself. Maybe next week, or next month. But know this - every day that passes, I get better and you just get older. Christian Faith: Thanks, Rocky. I'll keep it mind. Now if you'll excuse me. With that, Faith walks away. Golden looks severely irritated at being dismissed by the champion like that. Kristen puts a comforting hand the big man's shoulder but he doesn't seem to notice. There's no interference in this one, as The Golden Faction is not at ringside. Tornado is very determined, and he uses everything in his arsenal. The match goes back and forth for the first ten minutes and the crowd loves it. Then Tornado starts to work over Faith's knee and the veteran slows down a bit. The challenge takes control of the match but doesn't close to a three count on several pinfalls. Faith battles back as he refinds his faith, as he always does. Tornado seems at a loss of what to do. A series of Machine Gun Faith Hammer elbows drops the challenge. Faith puts him in the corner with a Stalling Atomic Drop, which is followed up by the Leap of Faith. Tornado kicks out. Another Leap of Faith follows and Tornado is down for the three count. He gives a nod to his defeated opponent, waves to the crowd a bit, and collects his belt before heading up the ramp. Tornado gets up slowly, trying to pull himself together. The other three members of the Golden Faction make their way down to the ring. Golden grabs a microphone and they climb into the ring. The three of them stand before their defeated comrade. Tornado starts to say something to them, but Golden holds up a hand. Rocky Golden: It's okay, Troy... I understand... Despite just having wrestled a match, Faith goes after Golden and tosses the big man to the mat, thundering heavy punches at him. Golden fights back, but without much effect. Caufield chases Texas Pete out of the ring and then tosses Bloodstone after him. Seemingly satisfied in their attack on their former stable-mate, the trio make their way up the ramp with smiles on their faces. They don't stop the three members of the Golden Faction from passing, but simply stare hard at them. A few notes from the show... I know what you're probably thinking... Another belt? This is the last one. The last new one at least - there may be some further alts down the road. But no more new belts. The brand split was never really planned from the beginning, so I was never really thinking of adding a second set of tag belts. Once I did the split, added the Sky Club division, and decided to keep the World tag belts on the Supreme brand... Well, it just made sense. I was really quite hoping for another A* match out of Tornado and Faith, though an A is hardly disappointing. The A pretty much saved the show, along with a few of the angles. The D- in the three-way tag match is one of the worst match ratings I can recall from either A show in awhile. Not the best debut for Rhino Umaga... I got pretty spoiled with having Phil Vibert and Richard Eisen as my authority figures, as they both have pretty outstanding overness at this point. Eric Tyler is hardly lacking in that area, but he's not at the same level. He won't carry a segment they way the other two will. Going to keep that in mind...

Special SWF.com News Report
Thursday Week 4 July, 2008 Big news today for all the Supreme Wrestling Federation fans out there with ever-growing DVD libraries of all the great releases from Supreme Legends Video®. The subsidiary of Supreme Enterprises® has signed a licensing agreement with The Vibert Corporation LLC, which will allow the use of footage owned by The Vibert Corporation on future video releases. After the bankruptcy of Danger and Violence Extreme just over a year ago, all video football, trademarks, and licensing rights were sold to The Vibert Corporation. This deal will allow SLV® access to the entire DaVE video archives. Even more exciting is that the DaVE achives includes all footage and trademarks of the defunct promotions from the "East Coast Wars" of the late 1990s. When DaVE "won" the war in 1998, it acquired all the assets of Philly Power Pro Wrestling, Rapid Pro Wrestling, and Xtreme Federation of Wresting. These promotions, along with DaVE, are where a number of current SWF icons started out. Included on that list are Brandon James, Vengeance, Emma Chase, Chris Morrisette, Giedroyc, Scout, Guide, and obviously Phil Vibert himself. Acquiring the ability to include footage from the early careers of these Supreme Legends™ is a great day for Supreme Legends Video®! Supreme Legends Video® released a company-record 44 titles last year, with most titles available on both DVD and Blu-ray Disc™. Having released 31 titles through to this point in 2008, SLV® is on track to break that record. The available titles range from individual events, compilations, historical retrospectives, career anthologies of individual Supreme Legends™, and boxed sets. The next scheduled release is The Supreme Legends Series: The Monster Dread, a 2-disc set on the SWF career of Dread. Also included are several of Dread's matches from his time spent in Japan. All Supreme Legends Video® releases are available on the SWF.com store!

Random thought of the day... in a business predicated on keeping your fans happy, as professional wrestling is, I have come to realize that it can be dangerous trying to keep the fans happy... That seems like such a contradictory statement... No, scratch the "seems like" part. It is a contradictory statement. But that doesn't make it any less true. Professional wrestling is just a different type of business, I guess. The Supreme Wrestling Federation obviously spends a ton of money getting a bunch of statistical data from public survey companies each month. We spent a lot of time and effort - a lot of my effort - analyzing that data and breaking it down. Its supposed to tell us how we are doing, whether our fans are liking what's going on. But is this information really that useful? I'm really beginning to question it all. Back in high school, I had a math teacher make the statement that "in statistical terms, you can make numbers say anything you want". That stuck with me for some reason. And I'm finding it to be very true. It starts with obtaining the information, as what specific questions are asked and who they are asked to is a big point. Once you have the numbers, you can manipulate them however is necessary. I'm starting to think all this money being spent by Eisen is really most useful in finding numbers to justify an already-formulated opinion. From what I gather, that's what Sam Keith did very effectively with the information in his days as the Head Booker. I am finding the Internet forums to be quite useful in finding opinions of fans. But I am leery of using those to any real extent as well. Which seems a bit odd, but after some careful consideration, its the logical conclusion I've come to. The problem with those fans you find on Internet discussion forums is that they aren't really the "average" fan. Perhaps a few of them are. But most are hardcore fans. What the industry refers to as "smarks". They are the ones who spend hours each week seeking our rumors. Some even pay monthly subscription fees to get that insider information. Many have impressive knowledge of the history of the business, and some are very well informed about the world outside of American wrestling. The interesting thing is that some of these "fans" are not fans of SWF at all - many actually hate Supreme and the Eisen's. Those haters who are logical in their hatred are actually quite informative. Ironically, many of that haters still follow the SWF quite closely. The reason I can only use these opinions so much is that these smarks are hooked. They're the fans who are going to watch the shows on TV and pay for the pay per views even if they aren't that happy with the current product. Its entirely possible alienate the hardcore fans, but its tougher. But these fans are the minority. The majority of the fans of the SWF are casual fans. These fans are the ones who make up the majority of the viewing audience, the live crowds, and the pay per view buyers. They are the ones without as much invested and will typically move away from the product much quicker if they are turned off. From what I was learning, the easiest way to gauge the reaction of the casual fans to something is simply the reaction of the live crowd. Nothing is as accurate or easy to rate. Of course, that didn't stop me from spending a lot of time every day on those Internet forums. Quite simply, they are fun. My new favorite was that Grey Dog Wrestling that the "hey booker man" kid had told me about. It took me more than a week to get my account approved, and there was a long process of probation to become a full-fledged member. The site was much more exclusive than most forums, and probably partly because of that, it was pretty high quality stuff. A lot more of the long, logical, essay-quality posts and almost none of the "opinionated 13 year using text talk", which immediately made it more interesting than the TEW forums. I did find the post that outed me as the booker of Supreme. It was by a guy called "Neckless" and pretty detailed. Disturbingly accurate, too. He wouldn't divulge any information on his source, however. His story was backed up by another poster calling himself "Da Reaper", who also seemed privy to inside information. That made me suspicious, as the "metal artist" who had been making the new championship belts for us. Could he know enough? I doubted it. The forum was pretty interesting, though. Hell, I was learning new stuff from some of the posters. Today, all the talk on the Grey Dog Wrestling forum - and pretty much every other forums - was about the video deal. It huge news amongst the smarks. The death of DaVE had left a lot of fans longing and bitter, and Pittsburgh Steel Wrestling had hardly filled that niche. Even worse for DaVE fans, the demise of the promotion had seen the end of the steady stream of video releases - Vibert was on the cutting edge in that regard, and released a ton of stuff using the footage library from the "East Coast Wars" that he owned. But those DVDs had all been out of print for more than a year now, making everything DaVE had ever released on video as collector's items. An entire market had sprung up around the stuff, much like tape trading back in the day. The Grey Dog Wrestling forum had an active sub-forum dedicated just to that. The strange thing was that I had heard nothing of the deal before it was announced. Not that I have much to do with the Supreme Legends Video business line. Or anything at all. I still figure I would have heard a rumor from somewhere. But this came completely out of the blue. The whole thing just reinforces what I already knew - that Phil is a helluva businessman. Obtaining the video libraries of the other promotions involved in the East Coast War was a smart move. Hanging onto that library for almost a decade when it made him only a bit of money but could have been sold for a lot of money was smarter, as it was paying off big now. Making sure he kept the DaVE library through the bankruptcy was a genius move. I knew that he had been negotiating with a few companies about putting together some DVE releases over the past few months, but nothing came of it. Now, the deal with the Eisen's was big for everyone involved. I talked to Vibert this morning, and while he didn't give me the full details, I got the impression the money he was getting was significant. Even better, he would be involved in every release that included any of the footage. He didn't have to worry about them making his promotion look bad. He told me this morning that they were starting work on a DaVE retrospective immediately. Phil sounded excited. Its good for him. Not so good for me, as he'll about around less. I logged onto the Grey Dog Wrestling forum and checked the latest posts. A great if rambling post from "The Tiger's Kin" about how Puerto Rican Power's power trips were hurting FREEDOM Caribbean Wrestling took awhile to get through. There was a knock on my office door, interrupting me before I could finish. "Come in," I called, knowing that there were only a few people in the building who would simply knock on the door instead of having Toni buzz me. Jerry Eisen peaked his head inside. "What's up, kid?" he grinned. "Hey Jerry." "So what do you think of the news about the video deal with Vibert?" he asked me. Needlessly, as he already knew the answer. "Pretty exciting," I nodded. "Don't think it doesn't affect you," he warned me, reading my mind. "You'll be getting involved in this side of stuff soon enough." That took me a bit by surprise, but I didn't get a chance to ask him what he meant. Jerry changed the subject, asking me, "So have you had a chance to watch the Chord DVD yet?" Ah, the Rip Chord shoot DVD set. "Yup," I told him. I waited a moment before adding, "Your dad was worried about nothing." "You watched the entire thing?" I nodded. I had just watched the last of the matches last night. Much of it had been watched on my laptop while traveling, but that didn't change what it was. "It was interesting," was all I offered. Jerry gave me a look. "Interesting... That's it?" "He really doesn't talk that much about Supreme," I explained. Out of the nine hours and fourteen minutes of interview footage on the DVD set, maybe thirty minutes of it is spent discussing the Supreme Wrestling Federation. And Chord was more than respectful in what he said. He actually gave an indirect "thank you" to Richard Eisen for his time in the SWF, for how he build-up him up and the great rivalry Chord had with Sam Strong. Chord admitted that he never would hit the heights he did without the SWF. He also stated that Eisen was very professional in how he dealt with Chord's "personal issues". I told Jerry, "He even thanks your dad." Jerry wasn't sure what to say. He obviously didn't see that coming. The SWF did get mentioned again during the portion of the interviews where Chord talked about his time with Hollyweird Grappling Company. That segment was a great deal longer than the time spent on the SWF. Even during that portion, Chord spoke no ill of Supreme. The closest I could find through the entire DVD set was a ninety minute discussion near the end of the interviews where Rip discussed his own Mid Atlantic Wrestling and the current state of professional wrestling in America. He made a couple of general comments about the current state of the business that could be read as being slightly negative towards the SWF and the Eisen's, though they seemed to me to be just as much directed at Cornell's TCW and Strong's USPW. "You can borrow the set if you want," I offered to Jerry. He shook his head. "No time," he told me. "I should actually get going." "Coming to the show tonight?" Another shake of his head. "Can't. Got some phone calls to make. Negotiations." "Yeah? With who?" Jerry looked over his shoulder, to the empty hallway outside my office. Toni wasn't even at her desk at the moment, so there was no one to overhear. "I'm not supposed to say anything," the elder Eisen son confided in me. "But Sam's kids." That just confused me. Sam Strong's kids? The only kid Sam had was Alicia, and she was unlikely to leave USPW. What the hell role would she take in Supreme, anyway? "Alicia Strong?" "What? No, the Gauge boys." Sam Keith's twin boys. That made a whole lot more sense. "Ah," I nodded, feeling quite stupid. "We going to be able to get them?" Jerry shrugged. "Its not actual negotiations at this point," he admitted. "Just some preliminary talks. But I'm hopeful." "Sam won't try to get them to Total?" "Probably," Jerry admitted. "But to what end? Sam is supposedly close to being done, and he won't have much power once he does retire. Not unless Cornell decides to make him booker and that doesn't seem likely. With Total in the shape its in, I have to think Sam knows it won't be the best place for his boys." "He doesn't hold a grudge over what happened?" "Yes and no," Eisen admitted. "He knows the business. He knows that his boys will get a fair shake here at Supreme. Ash has been treated pretty well, despite everything that happened between dad and John. That's why it was important that dad didn't do anything rash with Jay when the whole Chord shoot interview first came to light." I nodded, agreeing, "Good point." I wanted to ask Jerry why he had left it to me and Vibert to talk Richard out of doing something instead, but I held my tongue. "What about the boys themselves?" I asked. Another shrug. "That's why I'm talking to them tonight. To see what their plans are. I've heard that one of the pair wants to do some work in Japan early, but I'm hoping that's something I can talk him out of." "Good luck," I told Jerry, and I meant it. I would love having Sam Keith's kids to book. Two more central pieces for Generation Supreme. I saw them forming a legendary tag team before going on singles glory, providing the perfect foils to the Bumfhole brothers. A, but to dream. "Yeah, I better get going. Have fun at the show tonight." I nodded and Jerry departed. He had reminded me that it was getting late in the day. I did want to attend the show tonight, so I had better think about getting ready. Especially if I wanted to grab some food first. The thought of eating at the Arena was a bit disgusting. We taped every episode of Generation Supreme at the Supreme Arena now. The idea had actually been Eric Eisen's and it made a ton of sense. The Arena was a wrestling-specific auditorium that was part of the Eisen Center Training Complex. It had been built mainly with Rhode Island Pro Wrestling shows in mind, but it worked perfectly for the GS shows as well. Saved a ton of money on production and travel costs. It also made it very easy to use people we had in development, whether trainers or trainees. We could also count on a solid crowd of local fans who provided a pretty solid atmosphere. A lot of them got the tickets for free, but at least they added something in return. I finished reading the rant about Puerto Rican Power and closed my laptop. As I got ready to leave the office, I couldn't help but wonder if any of those smark's from Grey Dog Wrestling would be at the show tonight? Would I be able to tell? Do they seem any different from the casual average fans? Are there outward signs I could look for? They weren't the fans who would make or break this promotion, I knew that. Yet I couldn't help but want to impress them. To make the knowledge fans happy. That was not the road to success, but could I keep myself from trying regardless?
