Monday, Week 1, October 2005. From 4wrestling.net
Rip Chord Finished? Rip Chord has officially announced his retirement from professional wrestling. After a thirty plus year career, Rip Chord is hanging up his tights for good. Chord has been a multiple time World Champion, holding the SWF World Title three times, the TCW Heavyweight Title twice, and the GCG World Title once. Chord was last seen in Tommy Cornell’s Total Championship Wrestling as head booker. Chord has not extended any reasons behind his retirement, but it is a sad day for the wrestling world.
-- Monday, Week 2, November 2005. From 4wrestling.net
The Birth of Mid Atlantic Wrestling. It has finally been revealed. Rip Chord has announced that his retirement was due to the lack of promotions where the youngsters can learn the ropes. He has put together a small portion of his savings to form Mid Atlantic Wrestling. Chord has already announced three signings as the first Mid Atlantic Heavyweight and Tag Team Champions. “The Mean Machine” Jean Cattley will hold the Heavyweight Title, and the Natural Storm of D.C. Rayne and Eddie Howard will hold the Tag Team Titles.
-- Thursday, Week 3, November 2005. From 4wrestling.net
MAW Signings Still Under Negotiation. He will be leading the product to where it needs to go. Macomber has agreed to answer a few questions posed to him in a press conference later this week. 4wrestling.net will have the transcript as soon as it happens.
-- Thursday, Week 1, December 2005. From 4wrestling.net
MAW Booker, Zack Macomber, Press Conference Transcript. Zack Macomber sits with Rip Chord and the three confirmed MAW wrestlers. Q: “Rip Chord, why did you choose Zack Macomber to take control of the MAW book?” A: “I wanted to bring in someone who has a complete understanding for the way things used to be, and what it takes to run a promotion to teach. Zack has worked with many different booking styles in the past and I feel that he has a tremendous mind for the business.” Q: “Zack, what is your wrestling background?” A: “I’ve been around this business for my entire life. I started out as a fan, then as a ring boy for a local promotion that has long gone out of business. I then started my training under the “Tag Team Master” Robert Oxford. Unfortunately, as happens on rare occasions, I was put out of action forever with a complete ACL and MCL tear. Doctor said no more wrestling, so I’ve been behind the scenes ever since.” Q: “What kind of product do you plan on putting on for the crowd?” A: “A good one! (laughs) Seriously, I plan on putting together an action packed show filled with a mix of rookies and veterans. We’re in the business of building new talent and entertaining every fan that comes to our shows.” Q: “What other talents have signed on to be apart of MAW?” A: “That’s something that we aren’t ready to give out just yet. Not all the contracts are finalized and we don’t want something being said to change anyone’s mind.” Q: “Well, what about your fist show then?” A: “I’m glad you asked. This Sunday, MAW’s Rising Stars will compete for the fans. Guaranteed for the show are these three men, Jean Cattley, D.C. Rayne, and Eddie Howard. As for their opponents? You’ll have to show up to find out.”
Many fans have complained about the poor refereeing of David Poker. Management is becoming increasingly aware of his lack of knowledge of refereeing. They are the world’s only International promotion. Tommy Cornell is still TCW’s World Heavyweight Champion. They have been signing a lot of charismatic managers since the beginning of the year. TCW has been putting on an average of B rated shows, ranging from B- to B+. In DAVE, Shawn Gonzalez has taken the Unified Title from Bryan Holmes and has defended it 9 times since winning it. They have definitely bounced back from losing a lot of their talent to the big two early in the year. They have been putting on B and B- shows. USPW has dealt with its loss of Jim Force, Darryl Devine, and Johnny Bloodstone, with a decent amount of success. They’ve replaced Jim Force with T-Rex, who has defended the title each time he’s put it up. They’ve been putting up C and C- rated shows.
