The XCC Is Born

PITTSBURGH POST GAZETTE REPORTS: July 1st, 1996 A new MMA promotion has been formed in Pennsylvania, a state where it is illegal to hold MMA shows. Donald Hughes held a press conference yesterday announcing the formation of Xtreme Cage Combat, along with investors Jacqueline McDeere, Michael Frankley, and Randi Mitchel. The new promotion has plans to hold a show at the end of the month to get off to a good start, but where? "Ohio will be the site of the first show," said Donald Hughes when asked about the location. "We feel that the close proximity to Pennsylvania, as well as Ohio's growing tradition of MMA shows, makes it a great place to kick off the XCC." An unknown in the MMA world, Hughes has high hopes that in the near future, he can score a PPV deal, and compete with GAMMA and Alpha-1 as the top MMA promotions in the world. Matches will be announced in the coming days.

Blurcat.com reports: XCC 2: Young Guns Results Another great night of XCC concludes with two more champions crowned, and all in the first round, as well as a couple upsets, and only three fights going to a decision. Here are the results of XCC 2: Young Guns, as well as well as how all the predictions fared: Petey Mack def. Daniel Hornsby (KO, 1st round) - XCC Light Heavyweight Champion Xie Ming def. Agustin Gonzalez (TKO 1st round) - XCC Welterweight Champion Stanislaw Lipnicki def. Barry Strachan (decision) Marko Prochazka def. Luke Hilton (TKO 1st round) Wayne McKellen def. Dennis Gallagher (TKO 3rd round) Derek South def. Juozas Skerla (KO, 1st round) Curt Kitson def. Leandro Piquet (armbar, 2nd round) Casim Yenkini def. Nigel Malley (KO, 2nd round) Linton Berry def. Datuk Ong Ka Ting (TKO, 3rd round) Jamie Hewitt def. Francis O'Leary (decision) Eddie Whelan def. Silvo Scirea (KO, 3rd round) Thorbjorn Rekdal def. Henning Olsen (decision) Notes: Datuk Ong Ka Ting was up on points after the first two rounds before being TKOed. Is this a sign that he cannot finish fights? Derek South and Jamie Hewitt both move to 2-0 after impressive showings. Xie Ming stays undefeated, however a 4-0 record makes people wonder if he can hold the Welterweight Title long with what little experience he has. PREDICTIONS Blurcat.com - 8-4 deadboy - 11-1 UFC-KING - 8-4 petecrimson00 - 7-5 deadboy beats Blurcat.com! Congratulations! UFC-KING much improved from last fight card. petecrimson00 with a good record as well. Let's see if anyone can go perfect! Matches will be announced soon for XCC 3. Will more questions be answered, or will there just be more questions? Tune in to find out!

Blurcat.com reports: "XCC 3: Dalglish vs. Brewer" matches announced The XCC will hold their first show in Florida with "XCC 3: Dalglish vs. Brewer." Three titles will be on the line that night. The Main Event is a match for the XCC Lightweight Title between champion Jason Dalglish and challenged Cory Brewer. The match that may steal the show, however, is the semi-main event for the XCC Heavyweight Championship. Dave Lennon will make a title defense against Rav Kapur. Here are all the matches for XCC 3, as well as Blurcat.com's predictions in bold. Champion Jason Dalglish (10-2) vs. Cory Brewer (8-4-1) - XCC Lightweight Title Match Champion Dave Lennon (7-1) vs. Rav Kapur (6-0) - XCC Heavyweight Title Match Champion Davis Spyrou (12-4) vs. Ralph Kohl (5-1) - XCC Middleweight Title Match Jerry Bogdonovich (9-6) vs. Jeremy Mckenzie (7-2) Bunrakuken Abe (3-4) vs. Darin Blood (3-0) Dominykas Jankovic (9-4) vs. Will Kane (8-0) Korekiyo Anzai (7-1) vs. Gordon Idle (6-2) Russell McPhee (3-1) vs. Mugur Boc (3-0) Lachlan Brown (1-0) vs. Kendall Tracey (5-0) Bixente Fontaine (9-4) vs. Zachary Gilbert (6-4) Jeremy Sproule (6-5) vs. Brandon Sugar (7-3) Manol Sirakov (4-6) vs. Bob Dozier (4-2) Notes: Five undefeated fighters are on the show, with at least one of them guaranteed to be handed their first loss. Will the XCC Heavyweight Title Match steal the show on this night? If Rav Kapur wins the belt AND Mugur Boc wins his match, could we see a future clash of two undefeated heavyweights? Can Kendall Tracey keep his undefeated streak alive and move one step closer to a Light Heavyweight Title shot? Predictions are welcome as always, as well as thoughts on how I'm doing. Let's see if someone can go undefeated before Blurcat.com does!
