Offseason: Recruiting Week 13-15 Recruiting: Week 13 Well, we got some good news and some bad news this week. First, I'll start with the bad. We lost out on the one prospect that I really, Harry Harris. This is a big blow to our program as I feel he would have stepped in right away to a starting cornerback spot. Now, for the good news. We got four players to sign and come to Bloomington! Big boys Troy Angsman and Andy Williams are gonna be on the line. They'll block for QB Sean Adams. Ladainian Hunt should fill in nicely at one of the OLB spot. With the news that Harris won't be joining us this year, I've decided to go back out and look for some cornerback help. Jason Davenport is a 6'2, four star corner from Riverview, Michigan that I think can step in right away and play. He's not a big interception guy, but he's not afraid to come up and hit you either. I gamble with him and pitch "Playing Time" since that's exactly what he'll get if he comes here. I can't afford not to offer him the only scholarship we have avaiable, so I do. Hopefully, he'll accept. I've used pitches on a few more guys. Taz Stamper gets the "Location" talk. Mark Brooks gets hit with the "Playing Time" talk. I use the "Head Coach" on Haven Wand, as I feel he will excel while at IU. A.J. Moore is among those coming for a visit this week. Recruiting: Week 14 Well, this is starting to seem like more of the same. We lose out on Davenport, the cornerback we desperately need. It's not all bad though. Nate Maas, the three star defensive end from Ohio, has decided he wants to help turn around the Hoosier program. We now need to offer Davenport's scholarship offer to someone else. I look over the list again and who do I find? Our old friend, Jimmy Allison, who came for a campus visit during the season. He's only luke warm on us at this point, but I still offer the scholarship. Hey, miracles can happen. We've pitched some more players. Allison gets the "Playing Time" pitch. Antowain Shofner gets the "Style of Play" chat. I tell Garland Franklin that I'm the "Head Coach" for him. I'm expecting some big things this week. Hopefully we get some guys that can help us continue the improvement. Recruiting: Week 15 Guess what? We got our cornerback! NOT!!! Allison decided he didn't want any part of us and bolted to Wake Forest. We also lost out on Gannon Rhodes, to Purdue. Of all places, he had to go to my arch nemisis. I hate you Gannon Rhodes! I was just kidding when I said you had a cool name. There is some good news though. We managed to pick up another tackle in Mark Brooks. Haven Wand and A.J. Moore both signed as well, so we've got a good core of receivers coming in to throw to, IMO. We've offered one of the open scholarships to Wide Receiver Mike Hinton. Hinton is a big target at 6'3 that has a good combination of speed and size. We've been recruiting him for awhile, so we've got his views on all his pitches. I've chosen to go with "Head Coach". Hopefully it works. Wesley Glenn is the second player that we offer a scholarship to. He's a three star corner back from Coal City, Illinois. He's described as a press corner who has a tendency to create turnovers. Hopefully, he'll like us because if he doesn't, I'm gonna have to dip into the 2 star range to get us a corner.

Offseason: Recruiting Weeks 16-18 and Player Training Recruiting: Week 16 Well, we got some good news today, finally. We got a couple of commitments from our most prestigous players yet. Four star ILB Garland Franklin signed to go along with three star DT Kevin Smith. Both should see plenty of time this year for us. What's even better is that we didn't lose anyone. We've got all our scholarships offered at the moment, so their really isn't much else to say. Both Mike Hinton and Wesley Glenn come to campus. Week 17 Success! We finally have our cornerback. Wesley Glenn decided to give us a shot and sign on the dotted line. I was starting to get worried but I guess he finally came to his senses. Mike Hinton also committed, giving us a good freshman tandom of receivers with Wand for Sean Adams to throw to in the future. We've still got two scholarships that are being offered to running back Taz Stamper and receiver Antowain Shofner. Hopefully they both commit and cap what is already a good recruiting class. Final Recuiting Good new all. We were able to sign both Stamper and Shofner. All in all, I think this is a solid recruiting class. Training Camp: Weeks 1-3 Setting the Budget Well, it's that time of year again to put all my money to good use. I decide to stick with Investigators Inc, who specialize in scouting the Midwest. I've also decided to stick another $15,000 into academic tutors, since it seems like everyone was failing classes last year. Formations We've decided to go ahead and stick with the 4-3 defense, as we feel it gives us the best chance to hold teams down. We've got both our starting ends back to go along with both starting safeties, so hopefully we'll be able to put some pressure up front. On offense, we stick with the Run-and-Gun formation. We'll need to find a quarterback that can run it though, considering All-3rd team QB Hugh Atkins graduated last year. Should be an interesting season to say the least. Schedule We already had standing agreements to play both Ball State and Arkansas State, this time at their places. We then filled the other two slots with home games against Bowling Green and Baylor. It's not a huge step up in competition from last year, but hey, you gotta start somewhere. Week 1: @ Ball State Week 2: @ Arkansas State Week 3: Bye Week 4: @ Iowa Week 5: Illinois Week 6: @ #19 Ohio State Week 7: Bye Week 8: Minnesota Week 9: @ #10 Michigan Week 10: #25 Michigan State Week 11: Bye Week 12: @ NW Illinois Week 13: Bowling Green Week 14: Purdue Week 15: Baylor With both Ohio State and Michigan on the schedule, this is gonna be a tough year. Throw in Michigan State and a trip to Iowa, and you have yourself quite a toughie. Hopefully, the youngsters are gonna be up to the challenge. Red-shirt Status For the second straight year, I'm not gonna redshirt a single player, simply because damn near every recruit that I got last year will either start or be the backup. Crazy, I know, but that just shows how much skill this team lacks. Roster Quarterbacks 18 QB Sean Adams 6-2 208 Fr 3.90 97 88 OK North White (Monon, IN) 2.0 3.5 08 QB Chris Allotey 6-5 204 (Jr) 3.76 64 71 OK Cloverdale (Cloverdale, IN) 2.0 2.5 10 QB Tim Chrebet 6-1 203 Fr 2.23 68 65 OK Northwest (Indianapolis, IN) 1.0 2.5 04 QB Shad Harrison 6-0 206 Jr 3.53 63 79 OK Medina (Medina, OH) 1.0 1.5 17 QB Marrio Pagliei (S) 6-4 199 So 3.45 88 78 OK Linton-Stockton (Linton, IN) 2.0 3.5 Pagleie will get the nod here. I was thinking about just giving the reigns over to Adams, but then I thought I would give Marrio a shot and see what he can do. If his play isn't up to par, I have no problem with seeing what Adams can do. I'll probably do some sort of QB shuffle anyway during the season. Running Backs 35 RB Patrick Goodwin 5-11 191 So 2.25 48 65 OK Tri-West Hendricks (Lizton, IN) 1.5 3.5 24 RB Lee Harris 5-10 196 Jr 2.06 52 47 OK Cascade (Clayton, IN) 1.5 3.5 45 RB Steve Livingston 6-0 193 Sr 2.22 71 57 OK Wheeling (Wheeling, IL) 2.0 2.5 41 RB Pat Murphy 5-10 188 (Fr) 2.79 91 60 Transfer Gilmer (Ellijay, GA) 3.0 4.5 46 RB Taz Stamper (S) 6-0 188 Fr 3.34 56 77 OK Union (Dugger, IN) 2.0 3.0 21 RB Nate Wilkins 5-9 179 (Sr) 2.30 68 58 OK Swanville (Swanville, MN) 1.0 1.0 Taz Stamper is gonna hold down the fort this year until Pat Murphy is eligible. Indiana: 27 (1-0) , Ball State: 0 Game Time The start of the season is a success! We played outstanding football in every aspect, offense, defense and special teams. This was a team win for sure. Marrio Pagliei started his first game of his career, and boy did he deliver. 16-24 for 299 yards with two touchdowns and one interception is quite the debut if you ask me. Sean Adams also got some playing time, completing 5-8 passes for 75 yards. He did throw a pick though, so we're gonna have to work on that. Much like last year, our running game was pretty much non existant. Stamper struggled, and that maybe to kind of a word, to get anything going (20 carries for 28 yards). The lone bright spot was Lee Harris, who rushed 15 times for 48 yards and a TD. The receiving core was absolutely outstanding! Jim Nelms continued where he left off last year, catching 8 passes for 130 yards. Shofner and Hinton both hauled in 4 passes, for 70 and 48 yards respectfully. Frankie Thellwell returned nicely, catching two balls for 54 yards and his first TD of the season. A.J. Moore also had a nice debut, catching only one pass, but boy was it a big one! It went for 39 yards and his first collegiate score of his career. Hopefully many, many more will come in Moore's future. Tim Pittman lead the team in tackles with 7. Not a huge number, but it'll do. Two rookie lineman had excellent games. Nick Maas came off the bench and recorded two tackles and two sacks while Kevin Smith had a sack, run stuff and INT. Culbreath came off the bench as well and recorded his first sack of the year. We also had five (5) players record forced fumbles (Williams, Masters, Franklin, Bryant and Hunt). Overall, how can you not be happy with a shutout? I mean, come one, one third of my team hadn't even played college football yet. Hopefully this is just the tip of the iceberg with them.

Indiana: 23 (2-0) , Arkansas State: 13 Weekly injury report OT Mark Brooks is currently battling an injury to his Shoulder (Frayed Labrum). He is getting better and able to play, but you might want to sit him out one more week. DE David Bryant is recovering from an injury to his Lower Leg (Laceration). He seems to be progressing well and we recommend playing him this week. OLB LaDainian Hunt is trying to play through an injury to his Elbow (Dislocation). He seems willing to give it a go, but we would recommend giving him another week to recover. FS Carl Carter will not be playing this week because of his Patella (Broken). We are making good progress, though, so keep monitoring him over the next few weeks. Well, it was fun while it lasted. Losing Carl Carter really hurts. Luckily, we are playing Arkansas State, so we won't need all these guys. Game Time It looks like we're starting to win the games that we're suppose to win. This one was actually a challenging one, since we were losing going into halftime. We pulled it together though and got the second "W" of the season. Pagliei played well once again, completing 19-26 passes for 264 yards and two TD's. He's starting to come into his own now, which I couldn't be happier about. Taz Stamper had a good game by his standards. 67 yards on 23 carries is nice production for a true freshman. Hopefully he can keep it up and improve game by game. Jim Nelms is the man! Their might not be a better receiver in the country right now. He caught 5 passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns. Good job Jim, keep it up! Frankie Thelwell continued his stellar play, catching both balls thrown to him for 56 yards. The two freshman sensations, Antowain Shofner and A.J. Moore are both playing well. Shofner had 6 catches for 57 yards while Moore caught 2 balls for 18 yards. Both of Moore's catches resulted in first downs! Tim Pittman continues to play rather well, recording 8 tackles, one sack, one run stuff and one interception. A rather busy day if you ask me. Jacoby Galbraith also recorded a sack. We had five, that's right, I said five players record an INT. You already know about Pittman, but we also had Bhawoha Henry, Bill Douglas, Gary Masters and Mike Reed record their first interceptions of the year. Excellent job by everyone. We're going into our first bye week of the year! Hopefully, some of the guys will heal up in time for the Big 10 opener.

Iowa: 30 , Indiana: 24 (2-1, 0-1 Conf.) Weekly injury report OG Roy Manning is out for atleast a month with his Clavicle (Dislocation). You need to look at other options while we continue his rehab. OLB LaDainian Hunt is recovering from an injury to his Elbow (Dislocation). He seems to be progressing well and we recommend playing him this week. FS Carl Carter is saddled with an injury to his Patella (Broken). His performance would certainly suffer if you played him so we recommend letting have a little more time to get back closer to 100 Nothing different then this week except David Bryant is now fully healthy. The following Indiana players are now suspended: OG Roy Manning This is not what we need. Roy, get your head out of your ass and hit the books. Game Time We gave it our all, but it just wasn't good enough this time. Iowa is a quality team with quality players. They are just better then us at this moment in time. Marrio Pagliei had his first so-so game of the year. 14-32 with one TD and one pick isn't exactly eye popping numbers. He'll have to do better if we're gonna be successful. Sean Adams, the true freshman QB, also saw some game action, going 6-10 for 142 yards with one TD and two INTs. If we could have kept his turnovers down, we could have won, but alas, we didn't. Taz Stamper played well, I guess. I've come to the realization that 19 carries for 65 yards is about the best he's gonna give us. Lee Harris is a bruiser on the goal line, scoring his second TD of the season. Jim Nelms, once again, led the team in receiving. 7 catches for 113 yards is a nice day at the office. Jack Whittle scored his first TD of the season, which is always nice to see. He finished with 3 catches for 44 yards. The sensational freshman duo of Antowain Shofner and Mike Hinton had good games, once again! Hinton hauled in his first touchdown of his career to go along with 2 catches for 56 yards. Shofner complimented him with 4 catches for 82 yards. Thelwell had three more catches for 49 yards. Tim Pittman lead the team with 10 tackles. Carl Carter walked away with player of the game by getting 6 tackles, one run stuff and two forced fumbles. Freshman Garland Franklin had his first good game of the year with 7 tackles and one sack. Travis Williams got his first interception of the year. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with the effort the team gave. We can't win games on effort alone though. We've got to stop shooting ourselves in the foot and start playing mistake free football. If we can do that, who knows. Maybe we can still have a successful year.

Indiana: 27 (3-1, 1-1 Conf.) , Illinois 17 Weekly injury report OG Roy Manning is out for atleast a month with his Clavicle (Dislocation). You need to look at other options while we continue his rehab. OLB LaDainian Hunt is recovering from an injury to his Elbow (Dislocation). He seems to be progressing well and we recommend playing him this week. FS Carl Carter is trying to play through an injury to his Patella (Broken). He seems willing to give it a go, but we would recommend giving him another week to recover. SS Bill Douglas is currently battling an injury to his Elbow (Fracture). He is getting better and able to play, but you might want to sit him out one more week. Well, we've got some decision to make. We've got some key guys that we really need back on the field. We'll see what happens. Recruiting We've got our first recruit coming to campus for the Illinois game. Four star defensive end Jason Hicks playin at Solon in Ohio is having a spectacular season. So far, he's recorded 22 tackles with two sacks, two tackles for loss and an INT. He would give good depth to our line, that's for sure. Game Time Like I said before, we are winning the games we are suppose to win. This wasn't an easy win though. The defense really stepped and won us this one. Marrio Pegliei had another "eh" game. He only completed 11 of 23 passes but threw for 173 yards. He had zero touchdown passes but did throw a pick. He's gotta get better for us to have a chance against the big boys. Sean Adams played well. 7-12 for 110 yards with one TD pass (his second of the year) and a pick (he's got four, that's got to go down). Lee Harris played a nice game, carrying the ball 13 times for 68 yards and a score. Taz Stamper didn't do much, rushing it 23 times for 36 yards. I think I'm gonna have to give Lee a more serious look. Jim Nelms didn't have the big numbers he usually does, but he did have a touchdown pass. Even for him having a down game, he managed five catches for 65 yards. Jack Whittle had a good game with 4 catches for 88 yards. Antowain Shofner also caught 5 balls for 59 yards. What we do need to change is that damn near every receiver had a drop in this one. That's got to stop. Tim Pittman had another good game with 6 tackles and 2 sacks. David Bryant didn't have any sacks in this one, but he did force a fumble, recover it and score a touchdown! That's how you do it David. Mike Reed also had his second good game, with another interception and a forced fumble. Troy Evans also forced a fumble. This one was pretty simple. The defense won this one. Our offense needs to step it up and start producing. We play well against the bottom guys, that's for sure. What I want to see though is for us to play well against the big boys.

Ohio State: 26 , Indiana: 20 (3-2, 1-2 Conf.) Weekly injury report RB Lee Harris is saddled with an injury to his Hamstring (Torn). His performance would certainly suffer if you played him so we recommend letting have a little more time to get back closer to 100%. OT Troy Angsman is trying to play through an injury to his Hamstring (Pulled). He seems willing to give it a go, but we would recommend giving him another week to recover. OG Bo Mack is currently battling an injury to his Foot (Broken). He is getting better and able to play, but you might want to sit him out one more week. OG Roy Manning will not be playing this week because of his Clavicle (Dislocation). We are making good progress, though, so keep monitoring him over the next few weeks. DE David Bryant is currently battling an injury to his Ankle (Hyperextension). He is getting better and able to play, but you might want to sit him out one more week. OLB LaDainian Hunt is recovering from an injury to his Elbow (Dislocation). He seems to be progressing well and we recommend playing him this week. CB Wesley Glenn is recovering from an injury to his Lower Leg (Laceration). He seems to be progressing well and we recommend playing him this week. Well, this certainly sucks. We're gonna have to play Glenn considering we don't have any real good replacements. Losing Angsman hurts but we've got Theo Marshall to fill in so hopefully Troy gets back soon. The following Indiana players are now suspended: RB Lee Harris OG Roy Manning CB Gary Masters Well, just when I was gonna give Harris his oppurtunity, he goes and screws it up. Losing Masters also hurts considering he was one of our best cover corners. These guys really need to hit the books. Game Time This was a hard fought game that could have gone either way. We went into the half tied at 17 but the difference was two second half field goals in the third quarter by Ohio State. I can live with the effort we gave, but damn, we really needed this one. At first look, it seems like Marrio Pagliei didn't have a very good game. 10-21 for 111 yards isn't very good. But then you take into account he threw one touchdown pass without throwing a interception and I thought to myself, hey, I'll take that against that defense. Taz Stamper had his usual grind it out game. 16 carries for 40 yards is about what I expect for him now. He did have a TD though, so I congratulate Taz on his first college touchdown. Jim Nelms was his usual self. He scored the lone receiving touchdown while catching 5 passes for 73 yards. Outside of him, no one really showed up. OLB Tim Pittman continued his stellar play with 9 tackles and two sacks. David Bryant finally had a productive game, recording 3 tackles, a sack and two forced fumbles. Carl Carter had a well played game, getting 10 tackles, an INT and forced fumbles. Garland Franklin also had his best game of the year, racking up 12 total tackles. Galbraith and Culbreath each recorded a sack. We need to learn how to win these games. We were in this one all the way. Oh well, I'll chaulk this one up as a learning experience that the guys can learn from.

Minnesota: 44 , Indiana 24 (3-3, 1-3 Conf.) Weekly injury report TE Jim Dawkins is struggling with an injury to his Forearm (Torn Tendon). He is able to play this weekend, but I don't think he would be anywhere close to 100%. The smart move would be to let him sit and check again next week. OT Troy Angsman is recovering from an injury to his Hamstring (Pulled). He seems to be progressing well and we recommend playing him this week. Bryant joins the injured this week. I can't really complain much, as we've actually been lucky with how few injuries we've had lately. Recruiting Minnesota is coming to town, so we get another chance to get a recruit on campus. Mark Caldwell is a four star cornerback playing for Calumet H.S. in Ohio. Caldwell is putting up pretty good numbers, 26 tackles, 9 pass deflections and 2 picks. Hopefully we put on a good showing for him so he can bring his services to our team. We could use him. Game Time We got smashed. It's as easy as that. We just didn't play very well. We were in the game in the first half but just got tired. We don't have the talent to keep up with the big boys. Pagliei needs to stop throwing the ball to the other team. He had another pick in this one. I know he's young, but he needs to grow up, fast. He completed 14-27 passes to go along with a TD, but still, the turnovers need to stop. Sean Adams played well though. He only completed 3-7 passes for 86 yards, but he threw two TD passes. I think Adams has a bright future ahead of him. Taz Stamper had easily his best game of the year. He only rushed the ball 9 times, yet gained 53 yards. He also had a receving TD. Maybe not having Hill back there over his shoulder is relaxing him a bit. Jim Nelms played as solid a game as he could. 4 catches for 110 and two TD's are about all I can ask out of him. Antowain Shofner also had a career game, hauling in 6 catches for an even 100 yards. Nobody else really stepped up though. I can't say Carl Carter didn't leave it all out on the field. He recorded 13 tackles, two run stuffs and an interception. Tim Pittman chipped in with 9 tackles while Garland Franklin and Bill Douglas each adding 8 tackles. Bryant, Galbraith and Troy Evans each recorded a sack in this one as well. We've got to get better. It's that simple. We just don't have the skill level right now to stay with the big boys. We're making strides, but we're just not there yet.

I wish we had more of a run threat, but hey, I guess I can wait another half season.

#7 Michigan: 24 , Indiana: 13 (3-4 , 1-4 Conf.) Weekly injury report QB Marrio Pagliei is recovering from an injury to his Ankle (Hyperextension). He seems to be progressing well and we recommend playing him this week. TE Jim Dawkins is trying to play through an injury to his Forearm (Torn Tendon). He seems willing to give it a go, but we would recommend giving him another week to recover. TE Freddie Thelwell is saddled with an injury to his Foot (Bone Spurs). His performance would certainly suffer if you played him so we recommend letting have a little more time to get back closer to 100%. OG Bo Mack is recovering from an injury to his Foot (Broken). He seems to be progressing well and we recommend playing him this week. OG Roy Manning will not be playing this week because of his Clavicle (Dislocation). We are making good progress, though, so keep monitoring him over the next few weeks. What a bad week for Marrio and Freddie to go down. This isn't good news with #7 Michigan in town. Sean Adams is gonna have to get thrown to the wolves. We don't have any other options at this point. The following Indiana players are now eligible to return from their academic suspensions: OG Roy Manning The following Indiana players are now suspended: RB Lee Harris CB Gary Masters We get Manning back on the right side of academics, but he's hurt, so still, he does us no good. We could really use Harris and Masters though. They need to hit the books hard. Game Time Damn, is Michigan good. They stopped our offense from doing anything. We just couldn't get started. My hat goes out to them. Sean Adams was thrown to the wolves, and really didn't produce. 109 yards on 7-21 passing is just plain horrible, and that's being kind. Marrio Pagliei came in and relieved him for a bit, completing 7-13 passes for 83 yards. At least neither threw an INT. Taz Stamper had easily the best game of the year. 82 yards on 25 carries is pretty damn good for a true freshman. Couple that with a rushing touchdown and I say he had a pretty good day! The receiving game was held in check. Mike Hinton lead the team with 3 catches for 70 yards. Jim Nelms was held in check, grabbing 6 catches but only gaining 52 yards. Haven Wand chipped in 2 catches for 45 yards. Garland Franklin, the true freshman, is really playing well. He recorded 8 tackles in this one. Tim Pittman and Carl Carter added 7 and 6 tackles respectfully. Theo Evans, Kevin Smith and Nick Maas all added a sack to their yearly total. Once again, we played them tough, but we just don't know how to win close games against good competition. We've now dropped below the .500 mark, so hopefully we get our act together and salvage the season.

#11 Michigan State: 43 , Indiana: 16 (3-5 , 1-5 Conf.) Weekly injury report QB Marrio Pagliei is recovering from an injury to his Ankle (Hyperextension). He seems to be progressing well and we recommend playing him this week. TE Jim Dawkins is recovering from an injury to his Forearm (Torn Tendon). He seems to be progressing well and we recommend playing him this week. TE Freddie Thelwell is saddled with an injury to his Foot (Bone Spurs). His performance would certainly suffer if you played him so we recommend letting have a little more time to get back closer to 100%. OT Mark Brooks is trying to play through an injury to his Eye (Scratched Cornea). He seems willing to give it a go, but we would recommend giving him another week to recover. He seems to be progressing well and we recommend playing him this week. SS Bill Douglas is recovering from an injury to his Knee (Inflammation). He seems to be progressing well and we recommend playing him this week. Well, nothing really has changed from last week. Everyone that was banged up is still banged up. At least this is the last game of our three game killer schedule. Recruiting We've got four star ILB Ernest Kalu, a product of near by Warsaw H.S. in Indiana coming to town this week. Ernest is having a superb season so far, recording 42 tackles, 5 sacks, 6 tackles for loss and one INT. He would make a really nice compliment to Franklin. Game Time Well, this was last game in the "tough" part of the schedule. Once again, we just don't have the talent to stay with the big boys. Eventually, I think we'll get their, but for now, we're just not close enough. Sean Adams tried his damndest to bring in a win, but it just wasn't to be. 19-31 for 195 yards and a pick is about all I can ask from a true freshman against the #11 team in all the land. Marrio Pagliei, while playing hurt, completed 6-9 passes for 54 yards and a TD. He really, really needs to get healthy. Taz Stamper had a career day! 126 yards on 25 carries is insane for a freshman. We're starting to see life out of the running game! Jim Nelms returned to his usual self, grabbing 9 passes for 83 yards. Haven Wand played well also, catching 5 balls for 50 yards. Mike Hinton had the lone touchdown catch among his 4 catches and 65 yards. Our defense really didn't do much. Tim Pittman lead the team with 9 tackles and two run stuffs. Travis Williams chipped in with 8 tackles. Kevin Smith recorded another sack (his third of the season). Stamper had a solid game. Nelms had a solid game. Pittman had a solid game. Everyone else, not so solid. We need to start playing like a team. We don't have the individual skills to beat teams. We have to do it together. Hopefully, they figure it out sooner rather then later.

Indiana: 26 (4-5, 2-5 Conf.) , NW Illinois: 20 Weekly injury report TE A.J. Moore is saddled with an injury to his Nose (Deviated Septum). His performance would certainly suffer if you played him so we recommend letting have a little more time to get back closer to 100%. OT Mark Brooks is recovering from an injury to his Eye (Scratched Cornea). He seems to be progressing well and we recommend playing him this week. Well, we got most of our guys back that were injured. Only A.J. Moore will miss time this week (because of injury). The following Indiana players are now eligible to return from their academic suspensions: RB Lee Harris The following Indiana players are now suspended: CB Gary Masters OT Troy Angsman OLB LaDainian Hunt Well, just when the good news came, the bad news was worse. We can't afford to lose two starters on defense right now. Hopefully they hit the books and get back soon. Game Time We finally got back to our winning ways. This wasn't an easy game, as NW Illinois wasn't just going to lie down for us. We played hard and smart, meaning we didn't turn the ball over. Marrio Pagliei returned and had a marvelous game. 12-18 for 181 yards and one touchdown is a success in my book. Then you add Sean Adams into the equation (8-11 for 141 yards and a TD) and you have a very solid game by the duo QBs. Taz Stamper has really found his groove, gaining 90 yards on 17 carries. Lee Harris returned and scored the lone rushing touchdown. Frankie Thelwell returned from his injury to have his best game of the year. He only caught two passes, but they were for big yards (98), one of which was for a score. Antowain Shofner had the other score to go along with 3 catches for 47 yards. Mike Hinton chipped in with 4 catches for 68 yards. Haven Wand and Jim Nelms contributed with 5 and 4 catches respectfully. Tim Pittman is having an all league type of season. He had 8 tackles and one sack in this one. Carl Carter complemented him well in this one, also recording 8 tackles and one sack. Kevin Smith had a sack, which I believe makes it four games in a row with one. Glenn, Galbraith, Bob Miller and Franklin Garland each forced a fumble. Overall, I'm happy we finally ended that horrible losing streak. We've got some winnable games coming up, so this season could still be a success.

Indiana: 23 (5-5, 2-5 Conf.) , #23 Bowling Green: 12 Weekly injury report TE A.J. Moore is trying to play through an injury to his Nose (Deviated Septum). He seems willing to give it a go, but we would recommend giving him another week to recover. OT Mark Brooks is recovering from an injury to his Eye (Scratched Cornea). He seems to be progressing well and we recommend playing him this week. Nothing has changed since last week. Recruiting Today, we get to have four star guard Brian Dianna playing at Winebego H.S. in Illinois. Dianna would bring a bruiser that we could surely use on the line. Hopefully he comes here. Game Time This is easily the biggest win of the year for us. Although it was was against a mid-major type team, it was still a ranked team. I was nervous coming in, but the guys got off to a big lead and never looked back. The passing game really wasn't very good today. Marrio Pagliei only completed 11 of 17 for 140 yards and a pick. Sean Adams wasn't much better, completing only 1 for 8, but he had a TD pass but also threw a pick. The running game has really picked it up the past few weeks. This was no exception. Taz Stamper flirted with the century mark but didn't quite make it. Still, 93 yards on 24 carries is pretty good. Lee Harris wasn't gonna let him have all the fun though. He chipped in with 71 yards on only 11 carries. Nobody really did much in the receiving department. Mike Hinton had 2 catches for 52 yards while Jim Nelms contributed 4 catches for 51 yards. Mike Saffold had the lone TD catch. Carl Carter was the man on defense. 9 tackles is awesome, but add to that two INT's? That's just crazy. Tim Pittman also had 9 tackles. Kevin Smith, David Bryant and Fred Allen all recorded sacks in this one. This was a big win for us! I say that about every win, but this one is extra special considering it was against a top 25 team. Hopefully, we can build on this momentum for next week when Purdue comes to town.

Purdue: 27 , Indiana 23 (5-6 , 2-6 Conf.) Weekly injury report QB Marrio Pagliei is trying to play through an injury to his Thumb (Torn Tendon). He seems willing to give it a go, but we would recommend giving him another week to recover. TE A.J. Moore is recovering from an injury to his Nose (Deviated Septum). He seems to be progressing well and we recommend playing him this week. What a horrible week for Marrio to go down. We are coming off the biggest win of the year and now this. This really does suck. Recruiting Well, we're bringing in a four star running back this time. Mike Jacquet plays for Salem H.S. in Indiana. Mike is having a awesome year, gaining over 1100 yards and 16 touchdowns. Mike would give us depth that we always welcome. Game Time Damn, we were so close. We played hard, as usual, but we're just to young. They limited what we could do on offense and controlled the tempo. Oh well, I'm happy with the effort. Sean Adams tried his damndest. 15-24 for 218 is pretty good. The pick he threw isn't. He needs to button that up. Taz Stamper didn't have the game I'm use to him having. He had a rushing TD, but only 34 yards on 17 carries isn't very good. Lee Harris was a tad bit better with 60 yards on 13 carries with a touchdown as well. We had two receivers really step up. Jim Nelms returned to his superman type play with 7 catches for 132 yards. Mike Hinton also had 7 catches, but were for a meager 98 yards. The other two freshman, Antowain Shofner and Haven Wand both had 3 catches, for 57 and 37 yards respectfully. On defense, Pittman lead us (again) with 12 tackles and a sack. Henry chipped in with 9 tackles while Travis Williams added 7 tackles. Bryant and Culbreath each added a sack. Damn, I really wanted this one. We have got to win the next one so we can have a .500 record for the year, which would be an acomplishment considering how poorly we were doing early in the year.

Indiana: 22 (6-6 , 2-6 Conf.) , Baylor 12 Weekly injury report QB Marrio Pagliei is recovering from an injury to his Thumb (Torn Tendon). He seems to be progressing well and we recommend playing him this week. TE Kenny Garrett is currently battling an injury to his Head (Severe Concussion). He is getting better and able to play, but you might want to sit him out one more week. OG Roy Manning will not be playing this week because of his Shoulder (Frayed Labrum). We are making good progress, though, so keep monitoring him over the next few weeks. FS Carl Carter is trying to play through an injury to his Toe (Fracture). He seems willing to give it a go, but we would recommend giving him another week to recover. Well, we've got some serious talent out for us this week. Carter is easily one of the best players on defense and will be sorely missed this week. Recruiting We usually don't do this, but we've decided to invite a punter to campus this week. Chester Booker is a four star punter (3rd ranked overall!) that plays for South Haven Hight School in Michigan. He's a solid punter that averages 40.2 yards net. He would make a fine replacement once McGee graduates. Game Time We won! Boy oh boy, it sure does feel good to have a .500 record after the horrible start to the conference season. I couldn't be happier right now with this bunch of kids. Sean Adams played just "OK". 11-20 for 110 yards isn't impressive. His two TD's are excellent but the pick he threw is a bummer. Hopefully he'll work really hard during the offseason. We need him next year. Marrio Pagliei came in for spot duty and completed 2-5 passes for a grand total of 6 yards (LOL). Taz Stamper had probably his best game of the year. 100 yards on 13 carries plus a touchdown is a nice way to finish the season. Once again, hopefully he will continue to work hard and come back next year better then he is now. Lee Harris matched him with 13 carries for 95 yards. Nice job Lee. Our receivers were pretty much held in check. Jim Nelms had 6 catches for 55 yards and a TD. Frankie Thelwell (who had the other TD catch), Mike Hinton and Haven Wand each had two catches apiece. Travis Williams was big in Carl Carter's absence. 8 tackles and 1 INT is a nice day if you ask me. Topping the 10 tackle mark were both Pittman and Franklin. Bob Miller and Wesley Glenn both had INTs in this one. What a way to end a season. We played almost everyone as hard as we could. I'm happy with the effort we gave. Hopefully, we'll be able to build apon this year, bring in some more talent, and continue on the success we had this year.

He had an absolute monster season. To bad we don't get him back next year. We could really use him. I thought Jim Nelms would have been at least a 2nd teamer. Oh well, he's back next year. Derek Taylor played well, so I'm happy there. David Bryant I thought had a down year. 22 tackles and 4 sacks isn't anything special, but hey, I'm not complaining. Weekly injury report OG Roy Manning is trying to play through an injury to his Shoulder (Frayed Labrum). He seems willing to give it a go, but we would recommend giving him another week to recover. FS Bhawoh Henry is currently battling an injury to his Teeth (Root Canal). He is getting better and able to play, but you might want to sit him out one more week. We should have all our starters for the bowl game, excluding Manning. I can live with that since we've been without him almost the whole year. Game Time Oh my god, we won! I can't believe it. Who would have thought that we would have won a bowl game when we were something like 2-5. This was an ugly one (as no touchdowns were scored), but hey, I'll take it. Marrio Pagliei had a solid game, completing 16-30 for 217 and no picks. What a way to end the year Marrio. Lee Harris was the leader in the running game. 16 carries for 61 yards is the best he could muster up. Taz Stamper was held in check, and that's being polite. Haven Wand had the best game of his career. 7 catches for 87 yards is awesome for the true freshman. Jim Nelms pitched in with 5 catches for 55 yards. Tim Pittman celebrated his 1st team selection by recording 6 tackles, one sack and one interception. Travis Williams and Carl Carter chipped in with 7 and 6 tackles. Nick Maas recorded 2 sacks, while Bryant, Miller, Galbraith, Evans and Smith all had one. They just couldn't control our pass rush. Man, I still can't believe it. We actually won a bowl game! Only good things can come of this. I'm really looking forward to seeing what kind of recruits we can get to come in. Stay tuned!

IU Offseason #2 Financial Contraints This is the message I recieved on my Blackberry about two minutes ago You will have $1,920,000 available for your athletic budget. This marks a change of $10,000 from last season. Remember, this money needs to go towards scouting, assistants, other staff and medical training. You will also have $58,000 to spend on recruiting actions each week. Your weekly recruiting budget may also be impacted by efforts put into bringing other college-level transfers and is based on the alumni funding, other outside donations (helped by our prestige) and the number of scholarships available. So, good luck and spend wisely. Your job may depend on it. Well, $10,000 isn't a lot, but it's something. I guess I can't be to gready here. Job Offers Georgia Tech, Tulane, Arizona, North Texas and Louisiana Tech all contact me about their head coaching positions. I say thanks but no thanks. I'm committed to IU. Staff Hiring We've decided to keep the staff we had last year. Transfers: Week 5 We got the list of players that wanted to transfer today. I gathered my staff and look over the list and one player pops out to me. Richie Williams, a sophmore QB that played for Pitt last year. He would be an immediate upgrade over everybody we have at the moment. Hopefully he picks us! Transfers: Week 6 No news yet on Williams. We looked over the list again and boy, have we become popular these days. We decide to sit and wait though. Transfers: Week 7 Excellent News IU fans. Richie Williams is a Hoosier! He'll fit in well, able to fling the ball around. I'm really excited over this transfer.

Offseason: Recruiting Offseason Recruiting: Week 8 I got to the office today and started to look over the available prospects. We've got a total of 14 available scholarships this year, so we've got to be picky with who we go after. After last year, my staff and I agree that we need depth at the on defense and on the offensive line. We also need to replace 3rd team all league punter Grant McGee. I look over the list and am thrilled at what I see. There a quite a few prospects that jump out at me. The best out of the bunch is four star cornerback Mark Caldwell. We recruited Mark in the regular season and must have impressed him. He's described as a balanced corner that has the ability to cover recievers, yet will come up and hit a running back in the mouth. Hopefully Caldwell will bring his services to Bloomington. Chester Booker is another player that we recruited in the regular season. A four star punter, Booker is ranked 3rd among all punters in the United States. Booker would come in and start immediately, that is if he commits. Brian Dianna is yet another prospect that we had to Bloomington for a visit during the season. A four star offensive guard (and top guard in the Midwest), Dianna would provide immediate depth to the o-line. It seems like we always need it, so he would get a warm welcome by me and the entire Hoosier Nation. Ray Hasselback, a four star recruit from Warren Central High School in nearby Indianapolis, Indiana, would bring instant depth to the d-line. Characterized as a balanced tackle, Ray would bring a toughness that every team needs. He had a knack of getting to the QB in high school, so I have got to believe he would bring the same to his college career. Curt Jammer, another four star cornerback, is regarded as more a zone corner then anything else. Curt really doesn't do anything special at the moment, but his potential is off the charts. Jammer also brings something that I think we really need, the ability to return kicks. Hopefully Jammer pans out for us. We've got our sights set on a three star FS. Atnaf Thomas is one of the fastest safeties coming into college this year. Regarded as a cover safety, Thomas won't ever be regarded as the hardest hitter. He could though be regarded as one of the best at intercepting the ball. We've got our eyes on another 10-15 prospects that we would love to get, but for now, this is all I offer to. Offseason Recruiting: Week 9 No commits, as expected. We've offered most of our scholarships now though. Dan Watters is a four star defensive tackle that is an absolute beast to handle. Currently at 6'4 and 311 pounds, Watters has the ability to eat up space, litteraly. Right now, he's raw. My scouting service tells me though that when he gets to college, he'll be a handful. Hopefully, we'll be able to see him develope in Bloomington. Gil Hannah is a 6'3, 181 lb. three star receiver from Clayton, Indiana. Hannah is a speed receiver all the way, clocking a 4.44 in the 40. He's a hell of a receiver, but run blocking leaves something to be desired. With any luck, we'll have a shot at trying to show him the way to block. John Alexander, a three star DE, is also being offered a scholarship by us. A true run stopper, Alexander is a beast on the line. He didn't have huge sack numbers in high school, but he did have a lot of tackles for loss. We could really use Alexander next year, that's for sure. Anthony Brooks is a three star OLB that would step in right away and produce. Not the biggest guy (5'11), Brooks makes up for his stature with speed (4.48) and aggressiveness that not a lot of players possess. Brooks, do the right thing, come to Bloomington. Don VanWagner is the second DE that we're after at the moment. A three star recruit, VanWagner has so much potential that is untapped at the moment. If he lets his instincts take over, Don could be one of the most dominant ends in the Big 10. Hopefully, he'll become a Hoosier so you can all see. Bill Jackson was a late recruit for us. A four star OLB out of Rensselaer, Indiana, Jackson is as balanced a linebacker as they come. A tackle machine, Jackson would bring instant depth to the Hoosier linebacking group. Hope he signs, that's for sure. Dantonio Sweeney is the last of the recruits we've offered a scholarship to. A three star center, Sweeney would get immediate playing time with the graduation of all league 3rd teamer Derek Taylor. Dantonio is more of a finesse lineman at the moment, which makes sense considering he's only 266 lbs. He's got time to grow though. We would love to have him in Bloomington. That's the list of recruits we're going after right now. I know we won't get them all, but hopefully we'll get a good majority of them. We invite Calwell, Hasselbeck, Hannah, Booker and Jammer to Bloomington.

Offseason: Recruiting / Player Training Recruiting: Week 10 Well, no news this week. We've pitched a few more players so hopefully we'll start to get some answers here shortly. Diana, Sweeney, Alexander and VanWagner are among those coming for a visit. Recruiting: Week 11 No knew news. We've pitched everyone except a couple of players. I wish these guys would make up their minds so we can move on. Brooks and Jackson lead the group of recruits coming to Bloomington this week. Recruiting: Week 12 Damn, we lost one of our recruits. Asnaf Thomas, a three star FS, snubbed us and decided to play for Big 10 foe Minnesota. We've got to fill his scholarship offer so I'll look over the list. We've decided to offer the open scholarship to four star TE Bill Hampton. Hampton brings a different element to our offense, able to stretch the field with his pass catching abilities. At 6'8, he's a huge target, and oh yeah, he runs a 4.58 forty. God, we really need this guy. Recruiting: Week 13 Finally, we've got some good news to report! We got four recruits this week! We have got our replacement at center in the form of three star prospect Dantonio Sweeney. We also picked up both defensive ends that we were after (Alexander and VanWagner). Anthony Brooks, the three star OLB, is the final player we got. So far, I'm happy with who we got. We've alloted the available money to our "backup" recruits. Recruiting: Week 14 Well, we've got mixed feelings about this week. We picked up three very good prospects, but lost someone we were really after. Brian Diana is the lost cause, taking his services to our most hated rival, Purdue. Ahhh, Diana, we could have had something beautiful. On to the good guys. We picked up the third best punter in the whole nation, Chester Booker! He'll be able to step in right away and make our special teams better. Curt Jammer, a four star CB, should be able to step in and provide immediate depth in the secondary. We also got a four star OLB, Bill Jackson. He should give us another look with his size and speed. Bob Davenport is a three star offensive guard from Sandusky, Ohio. Davenport is characterized as a "power" type of guard. Not the biggest guard, Davenport is gonna have to gain some weight to be able to handle the riggers of the Big 10. Still, we offer him a scholarship. Recruiting: Week 15 Holy jesus, we've hit the motherload! We signed 5 recruits this week, the most since I've been here. And boy, can they all play! Mark Caldwell is the best out of the bunch. I'll be looking at the four star CB to be in the starting lineup right out of the gates. We got two four star d-tackles as well. Both Ray Hasselbeck and Dan Watters should see significant time this year. Wesley Holoman is the third cornerback to commit to us as well, although I might try him out at a safety spot. Gil Hannah rounds out this weeks commits, as he should be able to come in and give the receiving group depth that it needs. The lone blemish this week was we lost out on TE Bill Hampton, who decided to skip town and go upstate to Notre Dame. Bastard! Oh well, no time to dwell on this. We need to fill his scholarship offer! We've offered the open scholarship to three star FB Ray Brister. I know we really don't use a FB, but hey, maybe a switch to TE could be in the works here. Known primarily as a blocking back, Brister has some skills in the receiving department. Recruiting: Week 16 Well, no one did anything this week. We've still got the two scholarships, so hopefully, they sign next week. Figers crossed. Recruiting: Week 17 Well damn, Brister decided to go to Wisconsin. That really sucks. We've got to find someone that will take our last offer. Eugene Jamison is a three star inside linebacker from Geneva, Illinois. Known more as a run stopper, Jamison was a beast in high school, consistantly making tackles in the oppositions backfield. Hopefully, Jamison can bring that fight to Bloomington. Final Recruiting Good news all! We got both Davenport and Jamison to sign with us. That now completes the best class yet to come to Indiana. I fully expect most, if not all of these guys to play major rolls next year in the continued rebuilding of the Indiana program. The following is a complete list of all the players we got this year. P Chester Booker, 4-stars South Haven (South Haven, MI) National Rank: 156, Regional: 27, Position: 3 DT Ray Hasselbeck, 4-stars Warren Central (Indianapolis, IN) National Rank: 221, Regional: 34, Position: 8 CB Mark Caldwell, 4-stars Calumet (Calumet, MI) National Rank: 150, Regional: 25, Position: 12 CB Curt Jammer, 4-stars Tawas Area (Tawas City, MI) National Rank: 239, Regional: 41, Position: 18 OLB Bill Jackson, 4-stars Rensselaer Central (Rensselaer, IN) National Rank: 247, Regional: 43, Position: 22 CB Wesley Holohan, 3-stars Moreau Catholic (Hayward, CA) National Rank: 366, Regional: 80, Position: 31 DE Don VanWagner, 3-stars Coopersville (Coopersville, MI) National Rank: 586, Regional: 103, Position: 49 WR Gil Hannah, 3-stars Cascade (Clayton, IN) National Rank: 375, Regional: 69, Position: 38 DE John Alexander, 3-stars Peoria Notre Dame (Peoria, IL) National Rank: 447, Regional: 81, Position: 37 OLB Anthony Brooks, 3-stars St. Xavier (Cincinnati, OH) National Rank: 554, Regional: 96, Position: 45 C Dantonio Sweeney, 3-stars Delta (Muncie, IN) National Rank: 414, Regional: 73, Position: 13 ILB Eugene Jamison, 3-stars Geneva Community (Geneva, IL) National Rank: 672, Regional: 118, Position: 36 DT Dan Watters, 3-stars Oak Lawn Community (Oak Lawn, IL) National Rank: 254, Regional: 45, Position: 11 OG Bob Davenport, 3-stars Perkins (Sandusky, OH) National Rank: 834, Regional: 153, Position: 56 Overall, how can't you be happy with the haul that we got? All the buzz around town is about this class, which was good enough for 26th in the nation. I'll take that. Player Training Like last year, I'm letting my staff go on and do this for me.

Training Camp Expectations The alumni think we should be somwhat competitive this year. They want us to win a few games in conference, but if you ask me, a few isn't enough. I want a little more then few wins. I want them all (although I know there's zero chance of that happening). Financial Budget We've got a whole butt load of money this year, so I've decided to upgrade our scouting service. Football Finders is the best scouting service you can get in the Midwest. Hopefully, they'll be able to find us a few diamonds in the rough. Philosphies We've decided to switch up our offensive philosophy this year. We've used the Run-and-Gun for the two years we've been here, but we've never had a running back like Pat Murphy before. Because of him, we're switching to the Vertical passing game. I know, it's still a passing offense but it gives us more of a chance to run the ball between the tackles. Much like on the offensive side, we're switching up the defensive philosophy this year. We think a 4-4 is more suited to our strengths this year, with our stellar group of linebackers that are both able to cover receivers and blitz the quarterback. I think this is gonna be one successful year! Schedule Our schedule is set. We've went up a step in competition, picking up games against Cincinatti, Kentucky, Navy and Alabama Birmingham. Hey, it's not a huge step, but at least it's a step. Week 1: Cincinatti Week 2: @ Alabama Birmingham Week 3: Bye Week 4: #4 Michigan Week 5: #25 Michigan State Week 6: @ NW Illinois Week 7: Bye Week 8: @ #10 Ohio State Week 9: Minnesota Week 10: @ Illinois Week 11: #23 Penn State Week 12: Navy Week 13: Kentucky Week 14: Purdue Week 15: Bye Man, this is gonna be a brutal schedule. Four games against top 25 teams is crazy. Hopefully, the guys are gonna be up to the challenge.

Pair them with all the freshman we had last year and you've got yourself one of the youngest teams in the nation. We need these kids to grow up quickly to have a successful year. Hopefully, they're up to the challenge.
